How the Pandemic Has Changed Our Lives

The pandemic has and continues to have an impact on the vulnerable in society and social media is still a talking point on everything pandemic. It has and continues to affect the majority of people. I talk about these things on my blog, because they also affect me, my mental health.

The upheaval from Covid to poverty, is the reason why pupil absence in school is rising. (Source: theguardian). It has changed us, society is changed, the world is changed. For many people their lives are now permanently changed.

Social isolation of the pandemic

When you add social isolation, disruption to work, family routines, lockdown fever and economic instability, it is understandable and easy to see why the WHO say mental health has hit critical levels.

For many people, the pandemic isn’t over. There is little thought and consideration for the vulnerable, for people who are still cautious, for what's happening to people in society, for those who continue to need help. Covid isn't over, however many times we convince ourselves it is.

Animals help with mental health

I’m not sure adopting a dog would have been on the cards for many families, including mine. In the pandemic mental health is affected. In lockdown, charities saw a rise in pets being adopted, only to be returned, once the country got moving again.

Lives have changed

Our lives have changed, behaviours have changed. Many have commented on how we have become more self-absorbed, less charitable towards others. Isolation has tested our sense of identity. It is time for governments, opposition parties and society to unite, to work together. Most of us, according to social media, still live with the concern of the pandemic in our lives.

Although restrictions are lifted, many vulnerable people aren't back in their lives. With no moral high ground, it's a world I don’t want to recognise, but also a world I need to fit into, and I don’t know how to do that.

It Fucks with me that straight up

Purgatory hall, the new characters and basically people in Mc//ourlives don’t know what Belphie did in chapter 16 and esp in Nightbringer, like we 100% habe trauma and like straight up makes me wanna write angst but I’m Shitty with it and always fuck it up

So I’m just….gonna ramble under cut about it? //spoilers for both games I suppose!

So to start, there’s several instances of the brothers (and in one occasion Barbatos and Diavolo separately) get aggressive towards reader and I like imagine they must have some kinda PTSD since they’ve literally died and honestly I self project and I act nothing like Mc…I’d be in fucking tears miserable over the fact I just got warped in the past without anyone but my mentor

Like I cant see my family, friends or PETS for who knows how long???

Just imagine how it would feel….

You’re already living in a worn down old building since the moment you’ve arrived in the past, where else can you go?? The brothers aren’t friendly, you have not a cent to your name, just what’s on your person the second you’re dropped off and left. You WANT to think things will be ok, Solomon is here to help you so at least you’re not alone but…

You will die eventually, what if this takes too long, and you die here? Will anyone from your timeline ever find out?

Would you family know? Your friends?

Solomon keeps reassuring you that it’s fine, but he’s a sorcerer who’s immune to everything…his own stupidity gave him immortality…maybe if you’re unlucky enough he’d make you immortal and you’d…wait till you could see the brothers ‘normally’ again. Well them and everyone else.

As time goes on you ultimately are forced to continue to try to re friend them. Solomon is equal parts helpful as he is a problem, but it all seems to work out.

Until they find out your human. Why does it matter? You never said you were a demon! You TOLD THEM YOU WERE HUMAN. They laughed it off…why is it your fault…your not like them?

Belphegore was the aggressor, just like before. You don’t know if he was going to hurt you and you didn’t want to find out. You saw his hand reaching towards you, almost like they were going for your throat…

You screamed as you collapsed on the ground, hand instinctively going to protect your neck. You’re gasping for air even though you haven’t been touched yet, you’re terrified. Is this really it? Is he really going to kill you again? Did you really think…this would end well, Solomon? Diavolo? Barbatos?…Anyone?

Now you are where you are, trembling and in tears on the ground. But you didn’t feel anyone grab you, you did however feel like someone walked in front of you. To your relief, Solomon had come to your rescue…

You wanted to appreciate it, but all you wanted to do was go home now.

You let out a broken sob, you honestly didn’t care anymore if they saw you like this. You have been through hell and back for these idiots and yet, you still love them so much, so much so that all you want to do is see them again, but the version of them you know.

You love them, they are worth it, but why do you have to suffer for it? Your time in the human world after Devildom…nothing bad happened…maybe…you’re the problem?

With your mind spiraling, you don’t even hear everyone shouting, you don’t hear your name, you don’t hear who says it.

All you can do is cry and hope whoever sent you here shows mercy and let’s you go home.

It’s Been A Long Time Ago, Really?

Kalau diminta untuk memilih film atau series, saya sudah pasti jawab series. Dari kecil saya suka banget nonton series yang punya beberapa episode. Menurut saya, nontonnya jadi seru ketimbang nonton film yang hanya berdurasi satu sampai tiga jam. Kemarin, saya iseng untuk menonton series yang udah lama nggak saya lihat. Saya dengan randomnya memilih episode mana yang ingin saya tonton karena sebetulnya dari sekian banyaknya episode sudah saya tuntaskan nontonnya.

Yup, it’s GLEE! Bisa dibilang saya suka series ini karena jujur dari nonton ini saya punya gambaran kalau suatu hari nanti saya juga pasti bisa meraih apa yang saya impikan. Saya nonton Glee sejak masih duduk di bangku SMP — sekitar tahun 2014-2015 — which means it’s been a long time ago! Bahkan dari lagu-lagunya pun saya masih dengarkan sampai sekarang.

Alasan saya suka nonton ini sebenarnya sederhana: saya suka sekali drama musikal (yet nobody hasn’t known about it lol). Mulai dari nonton Hannah Montana hingga Camp Rock, drama musikal selalu jadi pilihan kesukaan saya karena pada dasarnya saya suka menonton sesuatu yang menyenangkan. Glee adalah series yang menurut saya adalah suatu tontonan yang sesuai umur waktu itu karena cukup relate dengan kehidupan saya pada saat remaja. Tentunya saya juga banyak belajar dari series itu: untuk nggak nyerah sama mimpi and it’s okay to be different cause you have your own unique and nobody deserves to treat you like an outcast. :)

Karakter favorite saya adalah Rachel Berry. Saya masih ingat betul ketika episode 22 di season 2 dimana Rachel dan Finn berkunjung ke Bow Bridge New York sebelum kompetisi, saya sangat amat terkesima sama keindahan kota New York lewat scene singkat itu. Kayak… cantik banget jembatannya????!! Sehingga saya dalam hati bilang, one day I’m gonna visit Bow Bridge and take a picture as pretty as Lea Michele (and yes Lea Michele has been one of my favorite singer until now) dan saya yakin betul saya pasti bisa kesana. Entah apa yang saya pikirkan, pokoknya mimpi aja dulu.

Waktu saya re-watching Glee lagi setelah sekian lama, saya nangis *beneran* karena it brings so many memories while watching the series. Ternyata saya masih ingat semua scenenya, lagunya, episodenya, semua-muanya. Yang bikin nangis sebenarnya adalah bagaimana dari sebuah series bisa membuat saya punya mimpi yang sangat besar (and scary at the same time) dan saya nggak tahu gimana cara wujudin itu semua. Mimpi saya satu: bisa pergi ke New York mengunjungi Bow Bridge dan beberapa tempat yang jadi lokasi shootingnya Glee selama di NYC. Udah itu doang. Karena aslinya Bow Bridge itu bagus banget. Kalau musim dingin (seperti di foto saya) tempatnya jadi kelihatan dreamy banget dan pada waktu itu ada yang foto pre-wedding pula! Biasanya di musim panas, jembatan ini banyak digunakan untuk beberapa aktifitas seperti canoe-ing, jogging, photo shoot, etc.

Jadi selama nonton seriesnya lagi, saya sangat menikmati seperti saat saya menonton seriesnya sembilan tahun yang lalu. It still feels the same. Dari Glee juga saya belajar, semesta akan selalu mendengarkan doa se-spesifik apapun dan bahkan se-konyol atau se-bercanda itu. Maka dari itu, kalau doa atau mengucap sesuatu jangan nanggung-nanggung. Dream big until you realize that your dream scares you the most. Perlu diingat juga untuk terus berusaha yang terbaik dan berserah. So, it’s best for any of us to speak kindly to attract good things in ourlives. ;)
