Hi, love! What are your thoughts on the Lestat's "HA!" scene while Armand was telling his story?

I saw many people being confused by it and disliking it, seeing it as rude, disrespectful and unnecessary! For me, it was truly uncomfortable but brilliant at the same time. My take on it is following:

No matter how heartbreaking the whole scene was, Armand surly had his “ulterior motives” for telling the story at that exact moment and in a certain way. I believe, from one angle, he slyly built it up to eventual comparison between all those terrible "original" vampires and Lestat, positioning him to be as bad as them, and basically playing around with his biggest trauma. Armand made a silent equation, e.g. Magnus/Lestat = Lestat/Louis that leads up to eventual Magnus=Lestat. In that way, Armand and Louis are both their makers' victims, which is another vital connection and unbreakable bond between them! Also, it shows that Armand still can't disregard Lestat from any of his narratives and he knows Lestat is on Louis' mind as well!

However, Louis saw right through that last little move (his Dreamstat was silent throughout the whole Armand’s story up until that “comparison” point) and reacted very harshly afterwards. Louis knew how Lestat suffered under Magnus, so Armand's silent twisting of that to, for example, make Lastat look bad for the sake of strengthing their relationship was the breaking point for that uncomfortable "HA!" (I knew you were leading it up to this, you manipulator!) moment to happen.

I am so sorry if this doesn't make sense and if I was wrong for something! I would love to hear your thoughts!

and I absolutely agree with her answer there! Louis reacted to a very specific part of the tale… in a very telling way.

Which in turn hints at what is to come, and what Jacob has hinted at in the recent TV Insider interview as well.

“It’s possible that he has reason to be suspicious or to just feel like there’s just something not right,” with Armand, Anderson continues. “I think he also got into that relationship knowing that there was an edge to Armand, but he kind of just chose to focus on the sides of him that were gentle and sweet and seemingly the opposite of any of the relationships that he’s had so far.“

Louis‘ inner Lestat knows.

And reacts accordingly.

Just thinking about how like, when I was a teenager, the gayest show we had was Merlin, which was somehow super gay and also incredibly homophobic.

But now y’all teens have your pick of queer characters. Soft gay teenagers? Check. Gay royalty? Check. Gay pirates? Check. Gay vampires? Check. Gay angels and demons? Check.

It’s a damn LGBT smorgasbord out there.

Hello, dear! I would just adore to hear your thoughts on this and I'm very sorry for asking if you've already answered it (haven't had the time to go through everything yet).

In your opinion, what was the point that made Louis come back to Lestat in the show? Did he realize Lestat wasn't willingly responsible for the trial? Did he even consider it that way or did he figure out some other underlying (maybe philosophical) things? Of course, aside from the obvious: Armand manipulated so many things for so long, hence what is the actual truth?

I personally believe Louis would (maybe) forgive you only if you were forced to participate in the trial and not otherwise.

In the end, Armand became just another (GRAVELY) guilty person for Claudia's death which haven't cleared Lestat's name by default. And I believe, if he had a choice, Louis would rather die by Claudia's side than stay alive and regret it for eternity. So, his visit to Lestat was more than simply thanking his savior (obviously), and his departure from Armand was more than just Armand's willingness to let him die (even more obvious). It was all about Claudia for me!

In the show we still haven't learned about Lestat's captivity in Paris. But how do you see this moment of Louis' realization and forgiveness if we take out any spoilers? Was the reunion real or it was maybe Louis' way to reconcile with everything that has happened, only played in his head?

I want it to be real^^, but even if it was only in Louis‘ head it had a real effect on him and his life.

I think…

Louis… forgave himself there. At least a bit. And part of that is that he forgives Lestat, too. And he loves Lestat.

Like, that cannot be understated. He LOVES Lestat. They need each other, even when they’re being petty with each other.

And so knowing what he knows then… he makes a conscious step forward. He has agency again. It is his decision.

And ultimately it will lead them (all) to find peace in and with each other.

Book canonically Louis does forgive Armand… despite knowing his role. I‘m sure that will be a bit… rougher here. But I do think they’ll end up there.

it's incredible that tumblr fandom went from DESPERATELY trying to see ANY sort of queer love in the shows we liked, to having shows—high budget, well-made, interesting, mainstream shows staring known actors—that are ABOUT queer love. explicitly, without argument. and just ten years later.

i saw (and reblogged) a post about how GO, ofmd, and wwdits are the new superwholock and i havent stopped thinking about it. cuz i was there, i was in the trenches back in the day. i was there when the writers and actors made fun of us for seeing on screen chemistry and perfect stories to set up romances. they all humored us then shat on us and saw us as a joke. a bunch of weirdo faggy teens that don't think two men can just be friends.

and now look at us. we're seeing the on screen chemistry and it's REAL. it's ON PURPOSE. these ARE romantic stories about queer people. we're not projecting or have wishful thinking... it's TRUE!! it was written and directed and edited and acted that way in earnest. i will take NO SHIT regarding these shows and people's love for them.

and do you know WHY these shows are being made now? these well thought out, feels-real, non-pandering queer stories? it's BECAUSE OF WHAT WE DID ten+ years ago. a lot of queer media never got the green light to be made because execs don't think there's enough of an audience. that more people will dislike the gays than like them. and we've shown them that that's unequivocally untrue. the outcry we had for all those years, the reviews we left, the statements we made, the backlash, it gave show runners ammunition to say "hey. people will watch this. they will like it. let us make it."
