Ok so

I'm currently drawing Black Butler characters as animals (honestly, just trying to see if I can use my old furry art skills to draw something that isn't human lol)

Me and @sketchyprincey have this rp au where reapers, demons, and angels can all turn into animals, so I'm gonna be drawing some of his designs too! We made them originally on ponytown when I first joined the black butler fandom back in early 2023, but I wanna try to draw them too.

So far we have:

Grelle: one of these floofy cats. Can you tell that I loved cheshire cat grelle in the OVA.

Othello: idk what these are called but this was my friend's idea for othello's animal form :D I find it so funny that othello is so much smaller than the undertaker until they turn into their animal forms...

Ronald: he's a golden retriever ♡ ronald is just a baby ok. He's Grelle's golden retriever friend ok

William: you can't tell me that doesn't look like him. Like....that MIGHT be William T Spears. I'm just saying, I haven't seen William T Spears and this owl in the same room together before. 🤔

Undertaker: I took the silver fox comment that othello made to heart ok. Like I said with othello's animal form, it's so funny that undertaker is so much taller than othello until he poofs into a fox. Also, when foxes gecker, it sounds like laughing, which is fitting! :)

Sebastian: he's a raven :D purely cuz it was hinted a lot in the anime. I like the idea of Sebastian having black feathery wings. (also this means sebastian eats worms. Have fun with that information.)

Claude: a fluffy spider :333 I hate spiders, but I love claude, so I tried to find the cutiest patootiest spider that I could find. He's a fluffy butler with more than enough legs.

Ash and Angela: I've recently started to really like Ash as a character 💀 so I figured I should add these two sillies. I wasn't sure whether I'd make them into doves or swans. I searched up meanings of both, and I think doves suits them better, but here's a pic of our options! Plz let me know what you think suits them better. ^_^

Also, on the topic of these two...I just remembered that this scene is a thing...

I think this leans towards doves more than swans since they look so small in that nest lmao🕊🕊

After reading What is...? by @creativepromptsforwriting (if you haven't read her blog or follow her WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?)

I decided to add some of my notes here too. Because it's on the little things I've been studying every night to get better at writing. So please consider this post as part/collab of "What is...?"

★Please keep in mind that this comes from someone whose first language it's not english, so, what for some might be obvious, for others it is not.

Blurb? is a short promotional description on your book. But can also be used to promote movies and other things.

Needs: Hook + Keywords (define an audience) + keep it short and leave them wanting for more.

* Remember to check for spelling and grammar mistakes.

Nowadays you can use quotes from your book as promo too. Pinterest is your best ally here. Make a bunch of attractive images with a colorful quotes and upload it on your social media! ^♡^

Honestly when it comes to promos you should exploit it all (meaning: create quotes, collage, your cover, promos, etc!) Be your own fan. Create a playlist, ambience, set the mood. Let your own world drag you into the woods, do not resist it.

If you love it, other will love it too.

W.I.P.? Means Work in Progress. So you have yet a lot to do to finish your story. it's okay, it takes time \^♡^/

Pathetic fallacy Vs Personification?

Pathetic fallacy

It's specifically about giving emotions to something non-human (objects, nature, or animals)

Writers use the pathetic fallacy to evoke a specific mood or feeling that usually reflects their own or a character's internal state. While I have seen some detractors of using this technique, think of Emily Brontë novel, Wuthering Heights, or Shakespeare in several of his works like Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Othello, King Lear and Macbeth. Or Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. So study it and use it carefully and you should be fine. Times change but you should write however you want too.

Personification

On the other hand, is giving any human attribute to an object.

Think of The Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, and Toy Story as great examples of what personification is.

Atmosphere?  is the way an author uses setting, objects, or internal thoughts of characters to create emotion, mood, or experiences for the reader.

For me Mary Shelley with Frankenstein is one of the most accurate examples I can give, but when I think about it, Robinson Crusoe, and Moby Dick, both feel tremendously claustrophobic and desperate to the reader, full of details, the time passes slowly and it's insufferable. Which in theory is not okay because the reader can drop the book but guess what? They're classic because you want to know what happens next. Which brings me to my next point, if you want to know more about the art of writing, you should try the following channels on YT:

Abbie Emmons

She has some interesting videos, but one crazy tip that will change your mind. It actually works. And don't worry, she keeps repeating it over and over so you learn it too. She also offers some courses and several activities like writing together (in case you're trying to write but can't, now you have a date!)

Ellie Dashwood

If you're into social dynamics, subtlety and want to get better writing period stories wether they are romantic or dramas, then she's your best bet. While she doesn't teach you how to write better she does teach you literature and history. And trust me, some of these things can be more than helpful. The way she analyzes and provides for clarification over social situations has made me understand not just Jane Austen but my own time in a different way.

Fiction Beast

This is showing me a lot of literature and making me read classics. Of course it wouldn't work if it wasn't because of Ellie but it's a must! because it does explains a lot.

Ana Neu

I just discovered her and Ellen so I can't say a lot of things but their videos have been really helpful with some of the things I've been working on especially with Fit or Die, so you should check out both of these girls.

and of course, he needs no introduction, but if you didn't know, he has several classes posted on his channel which have been helping me tremendously.

Ive been readin summa yer stuff over on ao3 and omggg.... your language is just SO beautiful. Hmmm for inspiration, that's a tough question for me bc I've really been influenced by so many (often random) things. I actually do read a lot of classic stuff tho lmao so I'll start by listing a few of those out

The ones that come to mind immediately are Shakespeare and Homer. Especially Tempest, Othello and the Illiad. I also adore Paradise Lost, Dante's Inferno and East of Eden.

For modern titles, recently I loved the dark whimsical prose in Mona Awad's Bunny and Heather O'Neill's Lullabies for Little Criminals. And the experimental story-telling in Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin and Otessa Moshfegh's My year of Rest and Relaxation.

There's probably tons of other books I can't recall atm, but yea I would absolutely 200 percent recommend any of the above.

sharp objects by gillian flynn (i just spent the past six days absolutely DEVOURING all of her work and i loved every novel but sharp objects is by far my favourite out of the three)

so those are my ultimate favourite pieces of literature, but some others i’d recommend include: the turn of the screw by henry james, the strange case of dr jekyll and mr hyde by robert louis stevenson, the goldfinch by donna tartt (v good but not as good as the secret history), pride and prejudice by jane austen, and something wicked this way comes by ray bradbury! <3 oh oh oh and if you want to read something trashy and mindless and pulpy i recommend flowers in the attic by vc andrews (tw for incest and rape).

How the hell did Othello became friends with Lilia was a Mystery, even to Othello themselves. One day they were peacefully sitting on the Old road of Diasomnia, the next was that They were approached by a Young man and started a conversation with them.

As Othello reminisces the Encounter, suddenly a Bat comes in their room, carrying a Letter. The Third year let's out a hum, taking the letter away gently as they Carefully rub the Bat's ear. "Thank you" They Mutter, the Bat let's out a pur before staring at the Letter.

"Give this to Lilia, as thanks for Yesterday" They said, Othello bends down and grabs the small gift that was Wrapped in a deep blue paper with a Red ribbon. "Tell him I am thankful" As Othello ties the gift to the Bat's foot before it chirps, It flies up before flying out of the Room as quickly as it came in. Othello looks at the Letter and opens it, putting the Wax print into one of the Vanity' smaller drawers with the other Wax prints that they've collected.

"Hello, Dearest Othello"

Othello snorts, Lilia always starts their letters like this.

"How art thou? Heh, I hope your doing okay! Yesterday was quite fun, I hope you'll keep in mind what I've taught you yesterday, though, I must say, you've intrigued more by the Subject you've taught me yesterday~ Now, Othello, I have something to address if that is Fine to share?"

Othello hummed, smiling a bit as they read further.

"Dearest, Have you been well recently? I've noticed that your Magical aura has been.. Off, lately, no offense, but, It seems that you've been Draining yourself lately, You've been Busy with the Forge and It seems that you've been Traveling through the Mirror too frequently.. Are you alright, Othello?"

Othello sighs, They thought they wouldn't be caught.. Then again, this is Lilia, a Ancient Fae, by the Seven who knows what he's experienced and been through.

"We'll, that's all I'd like to address for now, Rest well and Take care of yourself!"

"Sincerly, Vanrouge~ ♡"

Othello smiles, despite the fact that they were Caught, Othello simply appreciated the fact that Lilia asked how they were.

As they folded the Letter and tucked it away, Othello grabs a new Paper and Pen. And starts to write a Letter in response to the Diasomnia Student.

"Hello, my Dearest, Vanrouge"

BACK AGAIN- This time I drew Rielle in his Dorm Ouftit! I really loved the design since it was Cute but Simple! So, I decided to draw it and with Othello again- Yes, Othello is from Pomefiore! Othello was inspired by the Dark Mirror lol.

I hope you like this! I also thought that Rielle would be a bit embarrassed to Waltz around wearing the Dorm Fit because it's something He isn't used to- LOL ♡
