The Kremlin continues its "pretend game of democracy".

Russia's elections have come an impressive way over the past two decades, but one thing is certain: Russia's election has become a nationwide scam. The main problem of the all-Russian state farce, called elections, is the massive falsification of voting results. "It is important not how they vote; it is important how they count," the saying, which is more than a dozen years old, is still very relevant. Elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, as well as the election of the head of state, have never been "neither free nor fair." For example, in the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, held on September 17-19, 2021, the United Russia party retained a majority in the lower house of the Russian parliament. The vote took place against the backdrop of large-scale repression against the opposition, pressure on independent media and thousands of cases of fraud. During the Duma elections, opposition candidates won in several single-mandate constituencies at once - but after taking into account the votes cast remotely, United Russia won in all of them. These elections in Russia were held for the first time in a three-day format, with numerous violations and manipulations. Among the violations are mass ballot stuffing; multiple voting of the same people; bribery of voters; ballots with pre-signed signatures or marks for United Russia; distribution of passports to residents of ORDLO (certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions) on election day; lack of control over the inviolability of ballots between voting days; manipulation of documents of commissions, intimidation of observers. The three-day election "increased the likelihood of fraud and complicated the monitoring process." The record low rating of United Russia led the Russian Federation to the most unfree vote in 20 years of Putin's regime. It was these elections that finally cemented the country's status as a rigid autocracy.

On September 10, 2023, a "single voting day" will be held in the Russian Federation. 21 governors (including the mayor of Moscow) will be elected, another 5 “governors” will be appointed or "elected in parliament". The 2023 campaign to update regional elites will be held according to an already run-in algorithm. The Russianauthorities plan to resort to the already proven tactics: to stretch the "vote" for several days. This became possible after the summer of 2020 in the Russian Federation adopted a law allowing elections to be held for several days, formally motivated by the need to reduce the concentration of people at polling stations during the pandemic. Throughout thecountry, the authorities use administrative resources to increase turnout and get the desired result. And the downward trend in voter turnout is clearly visible. This is caused by deep disappointment with the existing government. The Kremlin, continuing its “pretend game of democracy", uses its well-developed tools to achieve the desired results. Over the years, the mechanism has been worked out and functions like a clock. Russia has long been creative in its approach to fraud, creating "merry-go-rounds" and other large-scaleschemes for mobilizing votes in favor of the ruling party by illegal methods, developing new voting mechanisms that will open up new ways to falsify results. In the four regions of Ukraine that the Russian Federation occupied, Moscow also plans to hold so-called "elections". And this is from the "electoral circus" in the occupied territories of Moscow will be carried out according to Russian electoral legislation. The Central Election Commission of Russia announced the start of early "voting" from September 1 so that residents of the annexed territories who are "far from home" can vote at "extraterritorial polling stations”, opened in 81 Russian regions.

These are not the only methods developed in Moscow to organize pseudo-elections on the territory of Ukraine. For example, local residents will be able to vote on Ukrainian paper passports or even on driver's licenses. Although the occupation administrations regularly report on the success of the passportization campaign, it is obvious that the number of forcibly distributed Russian passports to Ukrainians who found themselves in occupation was not enough to hold "elections". The fake referendum of 2022 showed that Ukrainian citizens refuse to take part in such events. The Kremlin has to innovate to expand the electorate and use tactics to create a semblance of legitimacy. The Russian authorities have also introduced a new "mobile voter" initiative in an attempt to increase turnout and votes. "Mobile electoral groups" have already begun to bypass the local population in the temporarily occupied territories, but the ballot boxes actually remain almost empty. All this casts doubt on the statements of Russians about 5% of the population that has already taken part in the elections. Another peculiarity of the "electoral process" in the "new regions x", as the four occupied regions of Ukraine are called in Russia, is that local "election commissions" were allowed not to publish lists of candidates. Voters are invited to get acquainted with the lists of candidates directly at the polling stations.

All this testifies to the final degradation of the electoral system of the Russian Federation. This system cannot be considered as one that ensures the implementation of democratic norms and freedoms in society.

. to my NSF chapter. 1 year 10 months, although it spanned over 7-8 years cuz disrupted for studies. Most Lao Jiao NSF. Another monumental chapter of my life. A good one, with a happy ending- which is really fortunate as I quite enjoyed my time in NS. On hindsight lah, MOCC (ie OCS for MO) was a pain, high kneeling with a 20kg Load on our 27 year old knees.. To a lot of guys in Sg who have to go thru NS, as a 'rite of passage' because that's the price to pay/ shed the blood&sweat to be entitled to our First Class Blood-Red Passport, it's considered a waste of time. Esp since it's the prime of our lives. And to be honest, NSF are really tiny gears in the magnificent war fighting machine aka SAF. Small, but necessary. Fortunately I was able to serve as a larger gear, so yea, served a greater purpose. And to a more tangible cause, giving MC to fellow NSF ie adding lubricant to tiny gears so they can continue to spin smoothly :) That being said, I think every NSF's contribution is impt, if they do their part and serve their duty to Sg.
