after nearly a week trapped within the maze, many have found their way to the center. either a quiet clearing, or a beating heart that appears to be the life force of the maze itself. most citizens have seemed to believe that this was near the end, that it was a sign they'd nearly found there way out, but unfortunately, that's not the case. as you pass out of these sections, you find yourself in the latter half of the maze, and the second half is where the true nightmare begins. gone are the silly monsters and obvious traps, and in their place are true psychological horrors, the likes of which could drive a man to madness. you've survived the first half, but will you make it to the end with your sanity intact?

OOC INFORMATION:

happy spooky season! congratulations to muses who have managed to get through the maze so far, but as they've progressed and adapted so has to maze holding these characters captive. as a result we've got some updates for you in terms of possible situations, as well as a small update to the death table. though we've done chaotic events in the past we wanted to make something that could be considered a proper horror event, and hopefully this table will provide that for all of you! we hope you all have fun with the update and can really enjoy spooky season with this!

THE MAZE:

all of these prompts can be presumed to take place after characters have passed through some midpoint of the maze, however you are not required to write a thread in the middle of the maze in order to progress to the second part, you may simply jump forward whenever you like

please note, these prompts are definitely more intense than the first table of prompts, with many leaning into psychological horror. if you're uncomfortable with many of the prompts you're welcome to stick with the first table for the entire duration of the event. this plot drop is optional.

some of the prompts are left open ended in terms of exact and you should feel welcome to interpret them as you wish. if you're really unsure about whether or not you can do something don't hesitate to shoot us a message!

after the night she had, maybe allana was right. she had been projecting the feelings she'd had after arguing with sella. but no matter how it cut, samara would try not to let it show. her face may have slightly faltered but it quickly went back to a neutral expression. "i was admittedly having a bit of fun. i like to play with my prey, hard habit to break." they only smirked after their words. "you're the one who was trying to kill her. this action is justified." as the saber pierced their chest, samara looked them in the eye. "better luck next time." they then deactivated their saber for it to leave the other's body, stepping back to watch the aftermath.

PART TWO ; THE PARTY + HYDRA ATTACK. the evening after the wedding, guests will be transported back to the tower for the midgardian portion of the reception party. as the night comes to a close, despite the extra security measures taken, hydra agents launch a surprise attack, outnumbering the avengers present.

ooc; you can either make party threads prior to the attack or during. just indicate that in your tags. the open starter tag for part two is still 394.royal wedding.  you can continue any pre-wedding / asgard threads you have going on. we'll probably give those another day or two before we only allow part two opens. feel free to transition to the party or hydra attack at any time. if you asked to be paired up with someone for a specific scenario, that's in the original event post. you and your partner can go ahead and do those threads whenever you're ready.

if there's any major injuries, etc. that are being plotted out, shoot the main a message before threading it so we know what's going on.

MARCH 15TH, 2021. it’s two days before the planned st patrick’s day parade ( and evening celebrations ), and the spring festival is in full swing. the joint events have been as huge a success as they always have been : local business has boomed, and to those that care, it’s a pity that arcanum wasn’t back up and running in time to cash in like so many other stores had.

the building that had once been both life’s work & ancestral home of the trelawney’s had lay empty for the best part of two decades, and unfortunately, it showed. structurally sound though it was, near everything within required replacing - be it from water damage caused by several large holes found in the roof or destruction that had been caused by the innumerous break-ins over the years. magic could only go so far, especially when one was working alone. since the purchase of the building had gone through the month before, sybill had taken to apparating to london each weekend, working room by room. a vinyl of celestina warbeck’s greatest hits played loudly from a vintage turntable was her only company as she bustled throughout the building, early morning to darkest evening. it was slow going, and the work had grown monotonous, over time - but she had never expected anything else.

the fifth floor - containing two mirrored bedrooms sybill intended to invite cassia & oriana to personalize - was the first finished. she was making her way top to bottom, slowed even more by the onslaught that was memory. this was the birthplace of cassandra trelawney, the originator of their family status. this was where sybill had spent formative years, walking thin corridors, climbing spindly stairs, learning to read tea leaves at a shaky table in a now dusty kitchen, recording her dreams in a leather bound notebook she had kept on bedside cabinet in the room she had now reclaimed. this was home, and she had been gone from it for far too long. 

the lower shop level would be the last to be tackled, working as she was, and so, the bell above the main entrance remained broken. this would join the long list of things to be blamed for why sybill did not hear anyone approaching - scrawled somewhere between the loud record that they’ll find scratching at it’s end & the happy crowd beyond grubby windows that did not remain so, for long. the truth is that when the ministry finds sybill, they’ll only be able to make a guess at what truly happened.

they will theorize that it was unlikely she had any forewarning ( a uniquely ironic phrase, given the woman’s status as a debated seer ). she probably knew her attacker, though it’s hard to say - there is no sign of struggle, and the killing curse does not leave a mark. even if she had realized in time to have a defensive instinct, her wand - nine and a half inch hazel, with a unicorn tail hair core - was found on the floor above her, resting on a rickety coffee table and so very far from reach. they will say she died before it happened, and there’s no reason to think that she felt any pain, or that the situations were connected. 

the formal report will lodged by overworked aurors some hours later will not have certain details. there is no witness to the woman with wild hair & hooded eyes, nor her two companions, who apparated into the lane behind the building and entered through unlocked door. no one saw her look of fear, when throat cleared behind her & she turned on heel to see them looming in the doorway. there was no need for a silencing charm. sybill, unable to understand the position she was in, never called for help. bellatrix wasn’t there to interrogate her, and thus, didn’t give her much of a chance, anyway. their time together was short & sweet. the green light went unnoticed, and the loose cannon that was a seer with potential to urge foes in right direction against them was taken off of the playing field, with ease. conspiracy theorists in the future, inclined to look that bit deeper, may get a closer approximation of the truth than those aurors ever did. 

but then again : it wasn’t their first priority. 

it was such a lovely day. the sun, not quite beating down upon the heads of everyone bustling through the alley, still shone with more strength than it had all winter. the lack of brisk breeze made even the long shadows cast by mismatched buildings almost warm. the wwn predicted rain later that evening, and mothers ushering their children along stole glances every now and again towards the sky, waiting to see the telltale sign of dark clouds rolling in.

the first indication that anyone has to something being truly amiss was actually the sharp drop to the temperature, and the rolling fog that fell over them all, thick enough to hide anyone - and anything - more than a few feet away. thick enough to blot out the sun. the shadows grew longer. they stretched outwards. when the first scream pierces the air, only those nearest are able to see what’s causing those notes of fear.

it doesn’t take more than a moment for everyone else to realize. as the alley explodes into pandemonium, the dementors descend onto them all. 

ROUNDUP OF INITIAL FATALITIES & INJURIES ( AS OF THIS DROP ):

sybill trelawney is very, very dead. as brutal as this’ll sound - that isn’t very relevant to this plot drop as a whole, so don’t worry about it ! she’s not.

OUT OF CHARACTER:

rather than transition the on dash event threads towards this plot drop, we’re going to do things a little differently with everyone’s current needs in mind. on dash will remain the period of time that is the start of the month through to the 15th ( which will make things a little less intensive as we begin the next part of the ooc noxtms ~ celebrations ~ ). off dash, and on the discord, several channels covering a number of businesses have been established. they each have a character cap of seven to make things less confusing, and can be used for plot drop rping !

as always with a plot drop of this nature, the discord announcement will include the allowance for injurys. there’s a smaller cap on these than usual, since the dementors themselves are sort of .... 0 - 100, and the injuries themselves will have to be discussed as happening in the chaos rather than from the dementors. that is, unless you uhhh ... really want your character to get a little kiss kiss ! that can be arranged !  

the galleon system list has also been updated and now includes a reward of 250 galleons ( per character it’s completed for ) for a 250 word minimum drabble / self para, written with the patronus charm & it’s much-needed usage during this plot drop in mind. if this were english class, the prompt would probably be something to the effect of : write a detailed description of your characters happy memory, or what their experience is about to be, conjuring their patronus in this specific situation. you have a LOT of freedom on it, and can write it in any way you see fit. please feel free to use the tag nox.task on any posted to the dash ! 

there was never any intention of having a st patrick’s parade / party event. sorry for bamboozling you all, but i think it’s safe to say that after this disastrous ides of march, those events will have been cancelled ! once you’ve read this post, please give it a little like !

sooo, the first few weeks into ur relationship(?) he was alr facing his first crisis.

he felt like nothing changed, despite having transitioned from a platonic to romantic relationship.

and so, being the sweet and clueless lil bean he is, he went to seek for advice from his one and only bestie bakugou, midoriya.

“hey, midoriya, what does one do in a relationship” why am i making him talk like someone from the shakespearean era tf

“oh, um todoroki?? are u asking for y/n? if so, i don't think im not the right person u should be asking,, i mean ive never even been in a rela--”

the park was basically filled with people from all over the world, even though it wasn't holiday season..

in the contrary, i feel like there'll be rides that he's lowkey excited to ride on, since he never had the chance to enjoy these events and places as a child. cuz of his sh*tty father.

he would ofc try to hide his excitement, but after being by his side for awhile, uve learnt how to differentiate his different emotions, despite his general nonchalant self.

u ended up getting both. cuz it isn't todoroki without cold soba.

and it was back to running around the entire park riding everything.

but instead of running yallz were walking hand in hand, as if u guys were an old couple taking a stroll in the local park

and instead of the entire park, y'all were just in the harry potter section..

don't judge, its cute. and the food did some numbers to ur stomachs, so u were avoiding some rides till u digest ur food. 

while walking around, the sun was setting creating a beautiful scenery. 

wanting this to be a lasting memory, u convinced todoroki to take a photo together. 

u wanted to take an aesthetic couple photo to show off to other people who were trying to steal ur hunk of a man. 

at first u had asked random passerby to help yalls take a photo,, but being the attention-starved lil bby he is, he felt awkward posing in front of random people. 

which led u guys to just set up the camera on a small ledge with a castle in the bg. 

it was then, todoroki had experience a flashback to the conversation that him and midoriya had. 

“hmm, wikihow says that every date has to end in a kiss, for it to be called successful..”

“is this website trustable??”

“it should be.. anyways just do it.”

coming back to reality, todoroki suddenly felt a sense of urgency, the date was coming to an end, and he hasn't kissed u yet,,,,

at that moment, as the timer of the phone camera was reaching 0, with u and ur wide smile posing for the camera

todoroki gently turned ur head to face his, and he had kissed u, for public display.

ur face immediately turned red, but u eventually returned the kiss, after getting over the shock. 

after separating, todoroki was silent, slightly scared and worried of ur reaction(?)

“why didn't u tell me u were going to kiss me~~ u should've told me so i can at least look good in the photo~~”

“..huh? well, um, i just had he sudden urge to do it?” kinda ooc

he was flustered, confused, embarrassed and giddy all at the same time

but the hugest wave of relief came over him, as he began to relax. 

“well we can just take another photo if u don't like it--”

“nO, i like this photo. but im always open for another kiss.” ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

getting over ur prior embarrassment, u tried flirting with him, returning the bold action he had pulled off earlier. 

“well, i wouldn't reject an offer like that would i..”

surprising u by picking up on the offer u suggested, todoroki gave u another kiss, easily taking ur breathe away.

Hello everyone, we wanted to take a moment to update the members on a few things and keep you all in the light.

A MESSAGE FROM THE ADMINS

We wanted to address some points with nothing but honesty.

Point #1: Inclusiveness

The first thing we would like to address is the issue with admins and their inclusiveness. In the months leading up to the holidays, the admins have not interacted with as many people as they should have been. When we acknowledge that we haven’t had threads with as many people as we should, it isn’t for a lack of trying. Every one of the admins wants to participate like any other member and we do try to have threads with as many people as we can but with balancing our personal schedules, maintaining the main (which we are still never perfect with), answering questions, organizing the grand plot, and managing the rest of the behind the scenes for the RP, sometimes we do struggle to have as many threads as we would like and as many threads as we expect our members to have with one another.

When we started this RP, each one of the admins had more free time to spare on RP in general. Obviously, a lot occurs and changes in your personal lives over the course of a year and a half, and despite the fact that we do have more things to balance on top of running the RP, we still want to see the grand plot through, we still want to run this group for the members that have been developing their characters here for so long and while the number of threads we are able to maintain is affected, many of the other responsibilities we have are also affected. This includes being able to come online regularly. If we come online with the intention of doing replies, if there are questions or concerns that have been brought to our attention, if they are matters we can handle alone, we are usually prioritizing those over doing our replies. Although it may not always show on the dash, we do want to have threads with everyone, and every time we plot with people OOC, we have every intention of seeing that plot through on the dash.

We don’t want to use our busyness as an excuse to not engage with everyone, but we do want to be transparent in saying that sometimes, us trying our best to maintain everything: not neglect our personal lives and have threads with everyone, is a lot, and it doesn’t always allow us to have threads with everyone that we would like to. We claim full responsibility for not reaching out to our members and plotting with them as much as we should have, and we take responsibility for not having threads with as many people as we should, and if the admins have made you feel excluded IC or OOC, we are truly sorry for that and it is never our intention. With that being said, we will be making a conscious effort to reach out more to our members for plotting purposes and threading purposes as well. Please understand that if we can’t be on to reply regularly or if we can’t get our plots on the dash quickly, etc. that we are trying our best.

Point #2: Our Top Priority

We have put so much work into the RP and we want to keep running it for as long as we can. A great deal of time, thought and effort goes into the overall plot of the RP. We sit down as a group and plan out the progression of the story months before you guys see any of it, to make sure it all makes sense and goes smoothly. Everything that happens during a plot drop — be it big or small — is deliberate and serves a purpose that a lot of thought goes into. This includes the secret reveals along with everything else. There’s a lot of care behind the scenes to make the plot as interesting and interactive as we can make it. For a year and a half, the admins have scheduled time to be online all together to work on these things. We put so much care into it, and because of the effort and time that we actively put into it, because it is challenging and even stressful at times, even just to keep it up and running on a base level, we would never intentionally exclude anyone from this group, whether IC or OOC. We care so much about the health of this RP because we want it to last.

We would never intentionally upset any of our members. When resolving OOC matters, our number one concern is resolving whatever has arisen for the betterment of the RP. The admins are a team of three separate people. That allows us to communicate from three different perspectives and consider multiple angles before making a decision. When dealing with members or situations where someone has broken the rules, our number one priority is to resolve whatever has occurred. As we have mentioned in a previous post, of course, we are people with feelings and sometimes we are frustrated and stressed as we are sure many of you have been frustrated and stressed with RP matters before. But we want to make it clear that any negative feelings we may have never take priority over the health of the RP. We set those feelings aside when speaking with you and when resolving issues. Simply put, we care more about the wellbeing of this RP than whatever negative feelings arise in the process of running it because we put so much work into it. We want it to last, and above just generally sticking around the main to answer questions, accept apps and update the pages, we have to approach everything in a solution oriented way.

Point #3: Warnings and Strikes

The third thing we would like to address is our method of issuing warnings or strikes. When it is clear to us that one of our members has blatantly broken a rule, we issue a warning or strike right away, depending on how serious the rule break is. Otherwise, we usually open a door for discussions when we happen to give out warnings or strikes to hear out the other side. If there doesn’t seem to be a reason why the other side acted the way they did, then we issue the warning or strike as we see fit. We have reached out to multiple members in the same manner when an OOC problem occurs and we always have discussions with them about the event that occurred. It is always our mission to handle things delicately with care to ensure that things don’t blow out of proportion when issues arise.

It is always very discouraging to see the very thing you have put your heart in receiving such a treatment. We do firmly believe, as stated multiple times by the admins, that if someone is unhappy with how we handle things to the point of sending us rude anons, being unhappy in the group, or starting OOC drama as a result, then we prefer for these members to leave our group. We believe that this is beneficial for both the member as well as the RP as a whole. RPing is meant to be a fun activity, if it becomes something that has a negative effect on an individual, then the best course of action is to leave the group instead of remaining unhappy. We try our best to make sure that our members are heard, but if the issue is with the plot or with how the admins choose to run the RP, then maybe it’s not a good match.

OUR NEXT STEPS

After days of contemplating what our next step should be with the RP, the admins believe that moving the RP to Discord and having it be a closed RP is the best choice for us. If you are interested in remaining in the RP, please send us a message BY MONDAY to let us know so we can include you in our future plans. We will be explaining the process of how Discord RP works to our members to help with the smooth transition. If there are any concerns regarding this, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the admins.

We will be following up again after the weekend once we have a clear timeline of when things get back into motion again. We thank our members who have stuck around and we hope things can get back to normal soon. We also want to thank all of you for your patience. We greatly appreciate it.

The Social of the Sands event is a formal event to welcome our new Vulpera allies and have others of the Horde meet and mingle the! The event is focused on casual socialization, meet and greet and  getting to know each other. These new allies have traveled far, and are still getting use to their life as Horde! So let's welcome them and make them feel a part of this big family beneath the red banner with a ceremony that will be held to recognize such!

To all Vulpera Rpers: This is your chance to try out your new character in a group for this very reason! Meet friends, make friends and try out this new character concept as well as be a part of a historical notch in the Horde as we welcome the first ally (that you're playing as!!) to join after the fighting and bloodshed. Vulpera characters will get special in-character items to help them in their transition to the Horde as well a the welcoming ceremony to mark the occasion.

To over all Horde Rpers: Don't want to be a vulpera? That's fine-great actually! Come meet and be one of the faces to interact and meet with these new allies. Converse and have your characters get to know others and be the welcoming and warm example you can be for this wonderful occasion! 

So lets swim together, tell stories around a fire together and feast with one another and mark this event as one of the welcomes to a wonderful turning point in the history of allies to the Horde!

Okay I’m reading through Porg’s update so some of y’all can save your braincells and here are some great highlights (under a readmore bc i couldn’t help but tear into a few things she suggested):

In trying to make V and Urizen their own character, she throws out the idea of Vergil being manipulated by the Qliphoth/Urizen (??? somehow??? even though the tree is implied to be non-sentient i believe???), with V being a Devil hunter looking through the remains of Mallet Island (which was completely blown up, turned to rubble, and then swallowed by the sea, so... that can’t happen), finding the cane which makes him youthful and not sick but... having the cane makes it so he can only kill demons through the cane??? for some reason??? And he needs the Qliphoth fruit to heal himself and free him from the curse???

How did she make V’s backstory even more confusing and complicated how the fuck did she do that

Almost immediately after bringing up the cane, she instead changes it to be one of the rings he’s wearing because she wants her “precious V” to use weapons other than the cane, which makes all the prior paragraphs about the cane’s curse and only using it pointless. She’s the one writing this fic, why can’t she edit her own work so it’s more cohesive?

Despite saying that V should be a Devil Hunter, she doesn’t explain why someone who is supposed to be killing demons would form a pact with at least three to fight demons. Her rewrite dismisses Visions of V, and she even states later that the manga is a waste of time as it won’t ever be translated into English (which 1) is not a limiting factor to reading it as many people have translated it already and 2) doesn’t dismiss it’s value at building up V’s character, who she supposedly likes the best).

Also, for someone who complains about DMC5 being a rehash of DMC3, she’s sure doing her best to change it to a rehash of DMC1 (Vergil being controlled by an outside force, bringing back Mallet Island, bringing back Mundus [the cane is supposed to be tied to Mundus]).

V apparently can’t be human because she wants to give him a devil trigger, despite having 3 familiars and his own strength. Okay I guess?

Also it’s really fucking sick how she describes V changing, because it’s apparently V fusing with Nightmare? Devil May Cry has never been one for body horror but she straight up says she was inspired by “The Thing (1982), The Fly (1986), Bloodborne, and Resident Evil 7″ for the transformation imagery and I wanted to nope the fuck out of there real quick.

Her segments of actual fiction writing and dialogue are really bad it’s almost like a parody Youtube skit.

She switches between prose and script writing randomly, it’s really odd. She does it primarily with Dante i’ve noticed? Here’s an example I wrote of what she does:

“Hey, don’t stress out about it will you?” Says John following a few steps behind VINCENT: Don’t get your panties in a twist

And that just happens... randomly? Like, there’s no indication why she’s doing that it just happens.

She straight up writes notes in her fic about the controls for character actions in-game what the hell--

She also shamelessly puts in a link to artwork that clearly isn’t her’s (and I highly doubt she got permission to post about) to try and show what V’s Devil Trigger would look like. I couldn’t find it because I don’t know how pixiv works, but that’s just a shitty move, especially with how she treats artists on tumblr when they draw art of Vergil.

EDIT: Porg has now straight up copy-pasted the art into her fic without the artist’s permission which is, we all know, fucking theft. While it is good artistry, is just a weird mashup of Vergil’s and Dante’s. It’s not all that unique and I don’t understand why she had to reference a bunch of body horror shit when all the Devil Triggers in game are essentially just a large flash of light and a seamless transition between forms??? It’s good art, I’m not trying to bash the artist, but... Porg, you could’ve been a little more original here rather than just ripping off another artist’s designs...

Everyone in her fic acts super casually to seeing Vergil alive in the Qliphoth and it’s like... honey, no.

Vergil acts WILDLY out of character holy fuck. Like, I know I should have expected that but this is NOT how Vergil would act in the slightest. She’s pretty much writing an OC.

Building off of this: EVERYONE acts OOC and... it’s not exactly cringey, but it is perfect proof that Porg doesn’t know what she’s doing and hasn’t properly analyzed the characters.

Dante acts weirdly... detached? There’s no sign of him acting like his normal goofball-y self, and he’s much more serious than normal. He actually acts more like cannon Vergil than himself, actually. (He also knows CPR apparently? Which... is a skill he would really never bother learning, so...)

Nero doesn’t act nearly as emotional, and acts calmly for some reason. You can’t feel any of his emotions behind his dialogue, only through the adverbs added to the tags)

V is too informative. He knows way too much about random shit that... no one should rightfully know. I’ll mention it more later, but... V doesn’t act like himself and I don’t really know how to explain it.

Vergil is essentially her OC. Seriously--he’s not as brooding or snarky, he’s far too open and apologetic, there’s practically no sense of rivalry between him and Dante. Weirdly, he acts more like canon V than fic!V does, despite the fact that Porg wants to establish V and Vergil and separate characters. His actions also make no sense when put alongside his canon personality. We aren’t reading anything about Vergil, we’re reading about Porg’s weirdly idealized version of him.

I’m going to make a break in the post here because I feel like this is the part that needs the most attention:

Porg goes OUT OF HER WAY to dedicate a GIANT portion of this chapter to her own OC: Nero’s mom. There are several long paragraphs of establishing the relationship between her OC and Vergil, talking about leaving Fortuna, how they were ‘happy’ and then saying that after a hurricane (inspired by hurricane hugo, you’ll see later) she got separated from Vergil, never reconnected with him, GAVE BIRTH, died from a demon attack with Nero staying near her corpse, and then Nero was found by humans and taken off the mainland to be taken to an orphanage on Fortuna. She wanted a massive amount of time to be taken out of the fun parts of playing Devil May Cry to establish a relationship that would never come back and essentially turn into a 15 minute soap opera inserted into a game about having fun killing demons.

Alright back to the noted highlights.

Porg confirms in her fic that the universe of Devil May Cry happens in the US, and that Fortuna is an island along the southeast coast and I want to fucking rip my eyeballs out at this point.

The ONLY REASON why she is doing this is because she lives in Florida. I know she does, and she just wants to imply that this is all happening near her home turf. How anyone who lives in Florida thinks an island like Fortuna can exist is beyond me though, because playing through 4, most of the buildings are inspired by Italian designs, and no one in the states would build an entire island with italian designs. I’ve been to Florida multiple times--there’s no buildings there even REMOTELY designed to match Fortuna.

EDIT: I have been informed that Porg actually lives in Pennsylvania, not Florida, which makes both more and less sense. Why Florida? Why not a hidden island up on the east coast? Why does this have to be taking place in the states at all Porg???

Yeah, let’s take Nero off the MAINLAND OF FLORIDA after a DEVASTATING HURRICANE and send him to an orphanage on an ISLAND which would’ve been hit the hardest by ANY hurricane. TOTAL SENSE. 

She tries to make her own timeline for the series using actual real world dates and events and it’s terrible (she references Hurricane Hugo in 1989, and confidently states that 3 took place in 1990, despite all evidence for the actual dates of events being fan theory established through circumstantial evidence).

There’s so much horror movie inspiration here--not cheap horror, but really twisted shit that... doesn’t fit with Devil May Cry’s tone at all? In the slightest? She references Jacob’s Ladder, plus all the other body horror media I wrote above.

Straight up just tears Vergil’s arm off which sure, I guess we gotta make THAT a parallel between Nero and Vergil. They can have a father son moment over being physically maimed.

In the scene immediately before this, Urizen picks up Vergil by the head and roots around Vergil’s memories (somehow???) to show him all the ‘bad moments’ in his life to traumatize him. She describes it as the audience getting flashes of him falling to hell, charging Mundus, being Nelo Angelo, etc. 

This causes Vergil to cry and beg for Urizen to stop. Then Urizen rips off his arm. So. Yeah. Another point for the OOC!Vergil/OC-taking-Vergil’s-place board.

Also this point ALONE made me realize that Porg does not know how much time, effort, and money needs to be put into making assets. Like, the entire fic she was stressing that everything be done in 5′s HD Graphics--including the ruins of Mallet Island, so I have to assume she’d want these little snippets in HD too, which would be a massive money hole creating these assets for one scene that lasts maybe ten seconds total.

I know I stated it in one of my earlier posts, but most of what she’s writing would fit better with a sequel for the reboot series, not DMC5. It would make her OOC writing of Vergil make sense, all the horror movie inspiration and body horror shit would fit better there, especially all the crappy dialogue too.

She somehow made Griffon even MORE annoying than in cannon.

BTW if I had to listen to poetry while fighting the final boss of a video game, I’d sooner turn my PS4 off. Not that poetry isn’t cool and all, but it cheapens the final fight and distracts you. It wouldn’t work.

EDIT: I realized this point made no sense without context, sorry. Porg made the Book of Urizen (the poetry book by William Blake referenced multiple times by V) either weirdly prophetic or made it out like Blake had inner knowledge of demon powers or... something along those lines, and V magically has the knowledge that reciting poetry from the book about Urizen will... harm him? Weaken him? Open a gate to hell (she mentions a portal appearing near him)? It’s very unclear, but she essentially rewrites Urizen as the final boss, and makes it three stages (V [Griffon recites some verses, which is what the first point was about], Vergil and Dante [this is where Vergil gets his arm ripped off btw], and then Nero) with all three of them reading poetry from the book to deal the “final blow” to Urizen. I’d much rather have Vergil be the final boss than have to go through a three-stage boss fight while every character I play as recites poetry to kill the boss.

She mentions Dante using Sin DT against Urizen but I’m pretty sure with her fuckery of the game’s events Dante can’t GET Sin DT? Because there’s no fight between Nero and Urizen where he’d intervene?

COMPLETELY IGNORES VERGIL’S DEVELOPMENT OF WANTING TO TRAVEL WITH HIS BROTHER THROUGH HELL TO ELIMINATE THE QLIPHOTH FUCK OFF.

Also she changed the lore of the Qliphoth so that it sprouts semi-naturally around every 500 or so years? So... shouldn’t leaving the Qliphoth roots be fine now? Since it’s natural?

Nico acts like growing back arms is totally normal

Wrote an INCREDIBLY shoe-horned in moment in the van with Dante filling Trish and Lady in about finding Vergil and everything that happened where, once again, Trish and Lady act almost completely nonplussed that Vergil is alive after 20+ years in hell, with about 9 of those ten years being trapped under Mundus’ control and corrupted by the Demon King

Seriously why is no one surprised in this fic that Vergil survived? Dante has a brief moment before finding him, but everyone finds out and accepts it like flipping a switch (once again--ESPECIALLY DANTE, which is NOT how the grieving process works)

Porg states that the ending is trash because the twins are fighting in hell, but completely ignores that most of Dante and Vergil’s lives have been built on conflict and they like fighting demons, especially Dante. Both of them were happy and doing what they love.

She also completely ignores through this entire thing that Dante was really fucking depressed in the novels leading up to 5 but hey I don’t even know if she can read.

I can vaguely agree that Trish and Lady were sidelined and they should’ve had a bigger role. However, I can’t fault the directors for not doing this, because they were already developing three playable characters with their own unique fighting styles. She writes all this shit about the story, writes notes about controls and mission layouts, but forgets that it takes a lot more than pressing a single button to code a game.

She just doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Seriously, none of these things are cohesive or edited properly, and despite her saying she wanted better for Vergil, or Nero, or Dante, or V, she writes all of them incredibly out of character and doing illogical actions. I just... I don’t get it.

The best part is--I can’t even tell her about these things, or give constructive criticism. She moderates the comments on her fic and isn’t afraid to delete anything she doesn’t agree with or can’t make a ‘passionate rant’ about.

It’s a new year and it’s time for new beginnings!

When we created this roleplay group, we devised the concept of the Fustuarium to use as a plot device to gather together Garlean characters who didn’t have many opportunities to RP with other Garleans. At the time, the majority of Garlean roleplayers either played as defectors who hid away in their Eorzean or Eastern roleplaying FC, or spies, who were also hiding away in their Eorzean or Eastern roleplaying FC. The Purge was a quick, efficient way to gather together and give us a reason to interact with each other without having to leave our primary FC groups.

Now that Garlean roleplay has grown and so many opportunities lie before us, we have decided that we will be retiring the Purge technique and transitioning into a group of Garlean Special Operatives. Our goals will shift from monitoring and capturing defectors into dealing with special emergencies and missions that are beyond the skill set of a common cohort. We will still be going after the occasional Garlean baddie, but our focus will be on larger threats (NPCS) as opposed to tracking PCs.

We are planning what we hope is an epic and fulfilling finale to start in January to play out this transition. So please look forward to the Final Purge!

How will this affect your characters if you are involved in the Fustuarium? You will be given the choice to transition from spy to special operations agent. For most of us, there really won’t be much of a change. For the active spies in the group, we would like to speak to you individually, as we believe we can make arrangements that you will find satisfying. Please speak to Aegir about this. Additionally, if you would like to use this as a chance to set your character free, that will be an option as well! TIPS FOR STARTING A POKE-ASK BLOG - MASTER POST

HEWWO THIS IS A MASTERPOST OF ASKBLOG TIPS CREATED BY SKITTY-A-DAY MOD. I HOPE YOU FIND THIS TO BE HELPFUL IN ANYWAY AND IF YOU HAVE A TIP THAT IS NOT MENTIONED ON THIS POST, FEEL FREE TO COMMENT IT AND I WILL ADD IT RIGHT AWAY. - Keep your presentation clean and professional. By this I mean do your best. Try and post finished art. Don’t leave the rough lines underneath the finished work, try to avoid quantity over quality. A tip for this is to avoid overly complicated character designs! Keep it simple and sweet, and easy to recognize. That way you can draw it over and over without stress. For digital artists, or artists learning digital art. Here are some resources for you: Free: - Paint Tool SAI (Cracked. I use this version, it should be safe to download) - FireAlpaca - Krita - Medibang (Avaliable on the App store as well) - ibisPaint (App) - Autodesk Sketchbook (App) - OpenToonz (Animation software) Not Free: - Manga Studio 5 / Clip Studio Paint (I own this, I highly recommend it) - Photoshop (There are cracked versions, but please be safe) For traditional artists, it may be a bit rougher for you because digital art tends to be a bit more eye catching. But if you can’t make the transition to digital, here is a tip. If you can, use a scanner for your work instead of a phone. If you do use a phone, use this wonderful app: Camscanner

- Choose a Pokemon that you love but is easy for you to draw. Your best choices should always have arms. I know you may adore wooper or may love dratini. But if your muse lacks arms and even legs, your ability to draw responses will become incredibly limited as your muse cannot physically pick stuff up or easily interact with the environment. Looking at you voltorb.... - Character first, Pokemon second. Don’t look at a Pokemon and simply decide you’ll make an askblog revolving the said Pokemon simply because they’re cute or popular. It’s bad practice and can lead to you losing motivation for your blog. Try to develop a character first and create a reason for their existence, develop the world around them, give them motivations and struggles. Then choose a fitting Pokemon you love. - DON’T give into impulse blogs. I know that one Pokemon is awful cute…. I know how you think it would be real cute and easy to draw everyday and that you’d figure out a plot/character later…. DON’T DO IT THAT IS THE DEVIL TALKIN’ TO YOU Plan your blogs out. Don’t impulsively start a blog that honestly means nothing to you. Trust me, you will likely drop it within a month. And if you keep changing muses/recycling the blog, people will lose interest as they can’t keep the connection to the characters up. - On a similar note, DON’T JUMP ONTO POPULAR POKEMON BANDWAGONS. Or do so if you wish, but like with the impulse blogs, try not to create a blog simply because the Pokemon is popular/new. It will lead to inactivity if you don’t really have the passion for the Pokemon and instead jumped on board for the fad. Fads fade and so may your interest for that Pokemon! - Try to not oversaturate your ask roster. Unless you have great experience with it, try and keep your ask blog to one to two muses minimum. It’s more intimate for the audience learning about one or two characters than it is trying to keep up with a large cast. - Plot based blogs are hard They can be very draining and difficult to keep up with. I’ve noticed that this is one of the number one reasons why people drop their blogs. Story board your blog first if it’s plot related, as in make sure you at least write down major story beats and details. Do not rely solely on asks to keep the plot going, you won’t always gain the necessary asks you need. Make standalone story posts / comic pages to help further serious plot points. If you want to even, follow this next advice: - Send asks to yourself. Honestly, don’t be afraid to send asks to yourself. There’s nothing shady or embarrassing about it. If you’re a new blog and can’t seem to get enough asks to reply to / garner interest to get more asks rolling. Send some anonymously to yourself! Or have a friend send them! There’s no shame in prompting yourself to give yourself a head start you need. I gave myself a couple asks when I first started! With the format of ask blogs, you do what you gotta do to keep the format going! Another reason to send yourself an ask is if no one is noticing the finer details of your plot / characters! Perhaps you want to give a subtle call out to a detail people may have missed, send yourself an ask alluding to this said detail! - Interact with the community. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP. Unless you happen to have some ballin’ art right off the bat (even then...) you’ll rarely gain any followers or interactions unless you give with equal parts take to the community. Send asks, reblog other’s art with your added interaction, follow others! In return you’ll gain followers from that sort of friendly exposure. Keep in mind that the community seems to run on the mutual exchange of drawing each other’s muses. It’s fine if you don’t want to draw the muses featured in asks and focus on stuff like your own characters, but know that drawing other people’s characters encourages them to do the same for you, and as a result makes your character’s design more well known and recognized. - Join Pokemon Discord servers. There are plenty of them out there! Get to know the mods of blogs personally and then you’ll be able to support each other’s work on a more intimate level! If you have a Poke Discord, feel free to comment / reblog this post with a link to it! - Be consistent. Try not to disappear for long periods of time unless you need that mental break (I’m pretty guilty of that) A lot of popular blogs tend to have an upload schedule / have a steady pace in between uploads. On the flip side, don’t be afraid to take breaks! Keeping up with your blogs and your followers is wonderful and all, but if it’s taking a toll on you, popularity means nothing when it comes to your mental health. Stock up your queue if you wish, a queue is an artists’ best friend! But please take breaks if needed. - DELETE OOC CONTENT This one is a big one. I know some people don’t want to bother with a mod blog. But trust me, keeping your blog free of unrelated content is REALLY important. Visitors who come to your blog to see your work will inevitibly be turned away if they encounter nothing but ask memes and other unrelated relogged content. I know it’s your blog and you can do what you want with it, but if you want that ease of access for your followers, be considerate and provide what they followed for. Delete ask memes when you’re done with them, and keep unrelated reblogs to a personal / mod blog. It helps a lot in the long run with maintaining a viewer’s attention and interest. - HAVE A REFERENCE OF YOUR CHARACTER LINKED ON YOUR PAGE That means find a theme that will allow you to do so. There are plenty of tutorials online on how to find a suitable theme and implement it! People responding to your ask or interacting with your character will want to have that said character’s ref available on hand. It’s considerate to have it readily available for them so that they don’t have to dig through your blog! - Tag the person who sent you the ask in the finished response! (Provided by @walking-in-a-dream​) After you’ve finished an ask sent to you by someone who wasn’t anonymous, tag them in the finished work, even if you are answering them directly. Tumblr, especially as of late, rarely notifys you of these sort of things. So if you tag the person asking, it’ll give a better chance of them seeing! - Reblog the asks you sent out! (Provided by @walking-in-a-dream​) On the flipside of the previous tip, reblog the finished response someone took the time to create for your ask! It’s polite and it helps out that said artist by sharing their finished work! This may conflict with the ooc content tip, but this takes priority. Help out your community and share answered asks! - Draw for yourself, not for popularity (Provided by @leilani-popplio) Do not draw for popularity or any other goal in mind other than for your own enjoyment. If you obsess over your follower count or your notes, it can lead to unneeded disappointment, jealousy, or stress. So please do yourself a favor and don’t worry about what’s ‘popular’ Everyone works at their own pace and your blog will blossom with the love and dedication you put into it! - Tag your work! (Provided by @deathbycelosia) This is very important, for two reasons. One reason is for the exposure to new followers! If you tag your work with relevant tags, new people searching through those tags will find it! Tags may include: Pokemon, [Insert specific pokemon], pokeask, and askblog! Another reason is to organize your posts for the convenience of others. When your posts are tagged by character, by plot chapter, event, etc, it gives a better ease of access for your followers to find posts with certain content! [more to be added]

3 year report

I thought it was important to write this post, not just for posterity purposes, but for myself more than anyone else.

Here’s what I’ve done to in the past 3 years...

Started a career advocating for LGBTQ+ teens and teens of color.

Unfortunately ended that same career to focus on becoming a stay-at-home dad for two small children born in the latter half of 2019 and the first half of 2021.

Ran some mildly successful RP events, without using the IC/OOC authority for anything untoward as before.

Engaged in romantic and sexual RP with explicitly consenting adults

Other than the name change, not tried to hide who I am by changing Discord tags or characters, nor trying to cover up what was done by remaining transparent with prospective long-term friends.

Here’s what I’ve not done in the past 3 years...

Repeated any of the same behaviours between 2013-19 (so I hope).

It’s all very much a “he said, she said” at this point, unfortunately. I’ve got the whole Discord log and neatly-organized receipts, but upon counsel (from my spouse no less), it was deemed unwise to pull that act a second time. I do sincerely believe you’ll be hard-pressed to find a testimony (bar the one I am disputing the truthfulness of) since January 2019 that paints me as the same person then. I wish I could understand how that recent incident ended like this.

Incidentally, the communications that was cited in my last post is a view shared by other female players, both the prior- and newly-acquainted (I appreciate the latter has a built-in bias to it; you’re hardly going to blow off a new friend for trying to be supposedly honest). This isn’t me going “See, I’m not a sexual harasser!”, mostly because Ojene’s OP didn’t even include the most uncomfortable anecdotes I cringe at in either shame or guilt to this day. That is part in why I was so quick to step down back then and apologize, only to my surprise that some of the worst behaviours (esp. in 2014 I want to say) weren’t even mentioned. 

Instead, I mention this as to why I continued to hang around on this alter ego despite everything. With the dissenting opinions from other women (some of whom seemed very knowledgeable of sexual harassment/assault etc.), I thought if I just owned what was done, respected the feelings of others, and vowed not to repeat it, I’d be tickety-boo. I actually thought starting over would be worse, because I would be trying to hide who I am, and it might draw suspicion I would try to repeat the behaviours. I certainly would have a lot of nerve for trying to incriminate myself a second time, after all.

Additionally, I appreciate what was done in the 2013-19 timeframe is enough to warrant being permanently blacklisted anyway, as in there is no ‘expiry’ date on this. Obviously, I don’t agree with this opinion personally, but I can understand it and perhaps should not be surprised when people bring my name up in 2021. I can only vow that 3 years is a long time to grow and change, especially as a parent (but I can say that 3 years when I was an entitled single and childless male online with no self-awareness is no time at all).

Why am I still RPing then with all this baggage? As mentioned, I’ve been able to form connections with people throughout 2019 til now, but I also do genuinely believe I have different priorities. Since having kids, my RP has transitioned from vicarious to something almost entirely more detached. I freaking love the setting and the character I have created (really, check out my carrd I’m proud of). Please keep in mind, I can now only play FFXIV when my kids go to bed, so my time is incredibly precious and limited. That means I have to be very selective of who I spend it with, and I don’t want to waste my valuable few hours of free time carelessly and mindlessly. This includes behaving as I once did.

So I leave this up here in posterity. This can’t live rent-free in my head anymore. I’m sure you’ll agree a toddler and an infant demand a better headspace from their father...just as some of you might say I should stop writing personal essays on Tumblr, and probably not spend so much time invested in FFXIV so that I can prioritize the kids!

Seems I still got some growing to do, eh?

Hey! As you can see, I’ve swapped back the URLs ( @asklusamine and @askpokepelago ) since the Lusamine / Type:FULL event will be closing out soon (before USUM releases is my goal).

If you’re new to this blog, missed parts of the story, or need a refresher, I have good news! I spent the last day updating all of the tags so anyone can read through any of the events in chronological order. The last three events are still somewhat in progress though and will be fully updated later as I transition everything back to normal. The update to the blog summary and the About page will be coming throughout today too!

After the Lusamine / Type:FULL event is over, all of the posts on the sideblog will be reblogged over on a schedule. I’ll post 1 more reminder when we’re about to start the queue. If you followed the side blog, you’ll just be seeing old posts again on your dash. If you weren’t, you’ll see posts but they may not be active events you can submit asks to. Either way, you can block these posts with “#sideblog transfer” tag.

Since I’ve used the break to have some exposure to tumblr’s rp scene, I decided it might be a good idea to make promos for this blog. Honestly, this is a great format for me to collectively write a story with people and not get bogged down in writing/artwork details, but it’s also really disheartening when nobody sends anything. So I’m going to be more direct about trying to get that interaction instead of feeling bummed about it- promos are a good start. I’m also going to try and make a schedule for myself instead of jumping between full throttle and nothingness (wish me luck lol).

For the story itself:

We will be staying canon to Moon’s post-game storyline. However, elements from UltraSun/UltraMoon may be mixed into the picture. No mention of US/UM will be made on this blog until after December 2nd, so if you send in asks with any spoilery kind of connotation, it won’t be answered /till the 2nd.

We will incorporate some of our hiatus time to a small timeskip when we return. You’ll be free to ask how our characters have come along in their journey.
