My hot take for professors is that if you’re gonna offer an extension, you should give at least 24 hours between the notice of the extension and the due date for the assignment

I’ve created a poll... (closed)
***Please read this before voting, it contains very important information and clarifications.
In the upcoming months I’ll be unable to work on writing or even access Tumblr sometimes for a timespan of about a couple weeks, but I don’t want to leave my blog without content for my followers / the fanbase for those few weeks. While still writing and routinely posting asks I’ve received, I’ll also begin to work on other writings that I will save to be queue posted when I’m unable to be online a lot - and that’s where this poll comes in. I don’t want to just decide to sacrifice a few asks to be posted at a later time, and I’m also interested in writing other things that I have ideas for that I think will be liked, so I’m deciding that what I write and save for a later date will be determined by whoever wishes to vote, to be sure I’m still providing interesting content that I enjoy writing during I time where I can’t write.
Deadline to vote - May 21st, 2021 at 8:00 pm EST
If this sounds interesting to you please continue reading under the cut - where you’ll also find the link - but I’d highly advise reading this all to be properly informed before voting.
Regarding what I write (for anyone unfamiliar with me): For anyone unfamiliar with my page, I would recommend giving my stuff a quick check before voting so you know a bit better about what content you’ll be voting on (the rules list and Masterlist would be a good place to get a quick but accurate idea). In a general sense, I write a lot for Lance, a bit for Leiftan and Nevra, and I’m unfamiliar with Mathieu but will write him in certain situations (but if we’re talking about letting me write whatever I want, it’ll likely be on Lance). When I say ‘general stories, headcanons, drabbles,’ etc. it’ll all still likely contain lots of Lance, so please understand that I won’t end up writing more of the other characters just because I don’t specify Lance in the options.
Regarding results: Unless one option comes out on top with an overwhelming amount of votes, I’m likely to do a small combination of two or three of the most popular options instead of only doing one. This works equally the other way - if there’s no clear difference in the results at all then I’ll do a bit of everything based on what I feel most inspired to do. Basically, I'm most likely to write a variety of options unless the votes tell me to do differently.
Other important information to know: You can choose multiple options, but you can only vote once. Be sure about your choices before voting, you won’t be able to take it back. There is a deadline for when the poll closes - it’s listed at the top of the page in bold. I will make a post once the poll is done telling the results and my plan from there.
The (4) Poll Options:
- Stock up on completed asks / requests to post during this time - These asks will be chosen by me, and I will try to contact the requestor privately to assure they’re alright with the extended posting date of their ask - however, I cannot guarantee that I’ll be able to contact everyone who asked due to the anonymous feature. If I do this option, I hope to provide a list of the asks I intend to withhold for later and if anyone recognizes their ask on the list but doesn’t wish for it to be withheld they can contact me privately regarding that, but I can’t promise I’ll be able to make a list. Depending on how long it takes me to write my current asks, some requests may be posted during this time simply because that’s how things worked out - this option is only suggesting that, in the case where I don’t have any asks that will be completed soon enough, some asks will be withheld from being posted earlier so they can be posted during this time.
- Write some general / un-requested headcanons (primarily on Lance, but maybe on other characters) that I have in mind but haven’t been able to write about - Is as the option says. I have a good amount of headcanons on Lance (and maybe on other characters if I can think of any and write them down soon enough before forgetting) that haven’t been written yet, so this is a good option for people who want to know more unprompted headcanons on Lance or have me possibly write a few on other characters (again, if I can think of any for other characters).
- Write some un-requested drabbles / scenarios / short-stories that I have inspiration for (these can be romantic, comedy, adventure, basically anything that I come up with an idea for. I’m also open to taking suggestions, but I can’t guarantee I’ll take the suggestions) - As the option says, really. These can be almost any genre (angst unlikely, but not totally out of the option) and will be decided by what I’m feeling inspired to write. I’m happy to take suggestions on what to write (you can comment your suggestions on this post or on the post I create after the deadline discussing the results) but the sooner you comment your suggestion after the deadline, the better, as it will allow me time to write it if I choose it. My default will be tagging the person who’s suggestion I used in the post to acknowledge their help; if you don’t wish to be tagged or acknowledged please state that privately or on the suggestion, whichever you prefer. I do not guarantee that any suggestions will be taken if I have some ideas already.
- Write a few short stories / drabbles / scenarios of my OC, Fenris, and the Eldarya Origins semi-AU I have her in (Her info is linked here. I really think people may like this option, so please at least read the info about it written here.) - To be straightforward and honest, this is for people who want more of Origins Lance. This stuff will contain lots of fighting (sparring with Ashkore or actual fighting), blood / violence (gore will not be descriptive but the fighting will be), bits of rough fluff and intense semi-fucked-up-relationship moments. Also small bits of cheating. It’s definitely for more mature audiences, but I have a lot of good ideas on this and not all of it will be NSFW. This isn’t a whole story, just little interesting stories to read. Basically, it’s excerpts from her time in Origins as she betrays the guard, trains under Ashkore, pursues a relationship with him and works to destroy the crystal. I have a whole semi-AU with Lance and my OC that I could write about where instead of destroying the world, they work to break the crystal in a way with spells and such so that Eldarya is fine and the dragons end up revived (I say semi because I try to change as little as possible but it’s definitely different in many vital ways). If you’re interested I would highly recommend checking out my OC’s profile to know more about her and the AU I’d be writing.
***Link to the poll here***
The dates of which I’ll be primarily offline won’t be specified, but it may be obvious based on my lack of activity and posting of stocked up writings. I may reblog during this time, though. I will create a post when I’m able to work as normal again so people know when to expect my posts to return to normal.

2019 Megaman Valentine’s Day Contest Rules Post
It’s year number 12 of lovey dovey-buku contest art, and I’m back at it again. No secret categories, no surprise themes. These are just the two options you all voted on the most, this time around. Let’s do it!
Two categories, in which you are allowed to submit one entry for each category, if you would like. If you place in one category, you will be automatically disqualified from the other, for reasons of fairness, and to give other people a chance to win a prize.
CATEGORY 1: The Way To A Mega Man’s Heart Is Through His Stomach (Talent)
Content Requirements:
* A pinup category focusing on Mega Man characters who are cooking, baking, eating, feeding their partner, lounging on or around supersized pieces of food, or creatively wearing clothing that appears to be made out of aesthetically appealing food products. Basically, some sort of delectable food must be drawn along with at least one character.
* As this is the talent category, judging will be based primarily on the overall composition of your piece and your artistic skills. How well can you bring delicious, appetizing food to life, along with your delicious, appetizing character(s)?
Who says robots can’t enjoy food? Certainly not Fully Charged Guts Man. XD
A popular proverb has long held that one can often fall deeper in love due to their partner preparing their favorite food or sharing a romantic meal with one another. There have been many instances of Mega Man characters who would likely operate in a similar fashion, due to their love for their fave dishes. Netto has his insatiable craving for curry, while his papa Yuuichirou’s palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, as he holds his fork waiting for mama’s spaghetti. Megaman Volnutt wants his sweets so badly, he’d kick a vending machine to pieces to get them, or bug the lady at Jetlag Bakery for those yummy confectioneries. Kelvin Stelar went a more healthy route and loved carrots as much as his wife’s homemade carrot gratin. And don’t forget the delicious cake waiting for Ashe or Grey in the fridge of Hunter’s Camp 4.
So, your task for this category is to draw the Mega Man character(s) of your choice tempting their Valentine with some delicious food. Some sweets for their sweetie, if you will. But the character you draw can be pretty tempting themselves, to go along with their treats. Create a tastefully seductive combo meal that will leave our mouths watering for more!
Now remember, as much as some of you out there might have first thoughts to draw some melons, bananas and glazed honey buns, this category is not meant to get explicit. No frontal nudity is allowed. So please follow tumblr brand censorship guidelines™ when creating your art, or it will be flagged, hidden from the public and not included in the competition. ;p
CATEGORY 2: Princess Sigmia Returns (Humor)
Content Requirements:
* A Megaman character who takes the primary form of another, opposite gender Megaman character due to a magical crown/mystery tank/navigator’s headset/biometal/battle chip/etc. This character is looking for love this Valentine’s Day. How they attempt to obtain a date/partner is up to you.
* As this is the humor category, judging will be based primarily on how funny your piece is. Consideration will also be given to a lesser degree on your creativity in combining your characters into a hybrid, and your overall design for them. But the point of this category is to make us laugh!
Following 2018’s hottest videogame art trend, that of the genderbent transformation of Bowser and crew into Princess Peach-looking alternate forms of themselves, it’s time to continue that spin with more Mega Man characters.
Looking to clean up real nice in the ultimate battle body for a night of love and romance, Princess Sigmia is ready to hit the club/restaurant/park/etc., and this time she’s brought friends.
Your goal for this category is to create the funniest romantic scenario this hybrid character can get into on Valentine’s Day. What made them use this magical, transformative item? What are the reactions of other characters to this newly made up character, who resembles someone they thought they knew? Let your imagination run wild, and draw most hilarious creation you can come up with!
There are no restrictions on what characters you merge, and no, you don’t have to stick with my combination of Sigma and Alia. You can base your transformations off of heroes or villains, minor enemies or main characters. It just has to follow the similar format of gaining the appearance of a familiar character of the opposite gender, while still retaining some characteristics of the original character. So, whether you create Mistress Ashebert, Mega Man VolBonne, Rainbow Cieldevil, Prince Praika, or Crimson Akane, the combinations are all up to you!
PRIZES:
It’s the usual, ‘get-what-you want’ option, for the top 3 artists in each category. As always, if you prefer a cash prize through Paypal, and just need the money, that’s typically the easiest and quickest option to get your reward.
But like normal, I will be flexible and work with the winners to purchase Megaman-related prizes, if there’s something you’ve really had your eye on and would like ordered. Be it a Roll Caskett 4-inch Nel, Fully Charged figures, artbook re-releases, Mastermix issues, or some other trinket. If I can find it within your prize price range and order it to be shipped straight to you, I will do all I can to make it happen!
The winners for both the Talent and Humor categories will receive the following:
*1st Place: $100 USD or an item(s) up to that value.
*2nd Place: $50 USD or an item(s) up to that value.
*3rd Place: $25 USD or an item(s) up to that value.
PARTICIPATION PRIZE RAFFLE:
Since they have gone pretty well in the past, I once again will be offering participation prizes. Some might say a few of these are quite X-cellent prizes, in honor of X’s 25th anniversary this year. In order to be eligible for the participation prizes, all you need to do is enter a pic for either the Talent or Humor Category!
Like previous years, if there is a prize here you are NOT interested in, please note that when you send in your submission(s) to me. Otherwise, you will be automatically entered in the raffle for a chance at each of these items.
If you draw a pic for both the Humor and the Talent Categories, you can double your chances to win! (Odds of course, depending on how many others enter and also draw two pics.) You will be able to add your name into the drawing a second time for just 1 of these prizes.
Raffle Prize #1 – Rockman 8 Anime Cel (with Genga)
Name a more iconic Duo. I’ll wait. This cel of Duo is a tight headshot from the midgame cutscene. After waking up, Duo sees the vial of Evil Energy by Doctor Light’s computer, crushes it, and proceeds to say “HE STILL LIVES!” before screaming in this frame and blasting off through the ceiling of Light Labs.
This is almost quite certainly your last chance to win a Rockman 8 cel from me, so best of luck to all who want to take it home!
Thanks to a generous donation from @silentally, there are also 3 other pairs of raffle prizes (*pictures to be edited in and added soon):
Raffle Prize #2 – Set of Mega Man X Official Complete Works Artbook and a beaded Zero keychain
Raffle Prize #3 – Set of a framed 3D sprite art piece of X’s iconic Vile battle, as Zero comes to the rescue, and a handmade Zero plush
Raffle Prize #4 – Set of Tamashii Buddies Zero figure and a Zero emblem wristband
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
When you submit, I would prefer you to include the following information in this format, along with your entry:
• (Your name/preferred alias) – As much as I usually know who you are, there’s always someone new or somebody who has a different preference from what their email name says.
• (Category this entry is for) – You can either say 1 or 2, or Talent/Humor
• (Participation Prize Eligibility) – Just write “All” if you are interested in the chance to win anything. Write: “Exclude from # __” if you do not have interest in winning a particular participation prize.
In the event you are submitting your second entry, please specify which prize # you would like your bonus chance in the raffle to be put towards.
Only submit your own work, as usual. Any character, major or minor, from any series is allowed. Pairing characters from different series is totally allowed. Same-gender pairings are completely fine. OCs are allowed, as long as your art contains at least one canon Megaman character.
As always, participants are allowed to submit from all over the world. It’s easier for me to get prizes to US entrants, because international shipping is complicated and pricey, but I’ll do what I can for you guys who aren’t in the States.
Paypal is still the preferred method for cash prize payouts. Please have a valid account to receive your winnings.
Youngin's, get your parents permission before entering.
Entries do not need to be colored, but it is preferred. The more effort put into things as always, the better chance you have!
Entries can either be e-mailed to me at rock2125[at]hotmail[dot]com, or you can just PM/note me a link to your pic.
DO NOT post your pics in this journal, your dA galleries, Twitter, tumblr blogs, other sites, etc. until the contest is over. This is the fairest way for competitive reasons. I prefer to keep them all secret until the deadline has passed.
I'll edit a confirmed entry list in this thread when I receive them. So you won't be in the dark about whether or not I've received your entry.
DEADLINE:
The deadline for this contest will be Tuesday, February 12th, 2019 by 11:59PM CST. *EXTENDED!* New deadline is Wednesday, February 27th, 2019. This gives you a little more than 5 weeks to finish your entry!
MISCELLANEOUS INFO:
As usual, If you don't plan to enter, but would like to help me judge, please let me know through DM or mention so here. Never hurts to have extra opinions on all the entries.
Bug me with questions if you have any. Please join in, and good luck to everyone who enters!

Cat. 1 (Talent) - @prar-draws, @larytello, @drewblossom, @bracedshark, subzeroiceskater, @irischroma, @papillonthepirate, SockMonkii

Again, it is impeachment time! |wapo.com-Trump’s lack of cooperation with Congress intensifies impeachment push in House
The president’s unwillingness to comply with investigators’ requests for witnesses and documents is prompting the more establishment Democrats to join liberals. By Rachael Bade and Mike DeBonis April 29 at 8:08 PM Frustration among House Democratic investigators is intensifying after President Trump’s refusal to cooperate with congressional inquiries, leading some to privately question whether they should try to pressure Speaker Nancy Pelosi into launching impeachment proceedings. The chairmen and members of the six panels investigating the president are increasingly angered by the White House’s unwillingness to comply as they carry out their oversight role, according to several House Democratic officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the matter freely. But that anger extends into the ranks of Pelosi’s team as well, according to multiple leadership officials. A recent threat by Attorney General William P. Barr not to show up for a scheduled hearing Thursday before the House Judiciary Committee has only exacerbated the situation after the White House last week vowed to block some officials from appearing for subpoenaed depositions or interviews. Earlier this month, several lawmakers from the most liberal wing of the caucus had called for impeachment after the release of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report. But Pelosi, fearing 2020 election fallout from such a politically divisive step, had asked Democratic investigators to hold off and simply continue their inquiries. But Trump’s no-cooperation stance is blocking that mission, as his team has publicly directed administration officials to ignore House Democrats, prompting several of the more establishment Democrats to favor pursuing impeachment in a notable shift on Capitol Hill. Pelosi makes the final decision. “The Mueller report and this assault on the legislative branch made Nancy’s call to avoid impeachment much more difficult for rank-and-file members,” said Rep. Gerald E. Connolly (D-Va.), a member of the Oversight Committee. “We’ve moved from culpability laid out in the Mueller report to an assault on the institution and constitutional framework that is the legislative branch.” During a House leadership meeting Monday night, Pelosi (Calif.) argued that the Democratic caucus needed to continue “building the case” for impeachment — if that’s where it ultimately ends up. But she emphasized that the House had to remain focused on its legislative agenda. “We have to deliver,” she said at several points in the meeting, according to participants who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the session. Trump’s public declaration last week that he would ignore “all the subpoenas” — coming after Mueller’s findings of 10 potential cases of obstruction by Trump — has led many Democrats associated with some of those investigations to argue that they need to pursue impeachment, even as they await Pelosi’s go-ahead. These Democrats contend that Trump’s move to stonewall the House constitutes additional obstruction and abuse of power. “Trump’s conduct is such that it will force people to consider impeachment, no matter how politically difficult,” said Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.), a member of the Judiciary Committee who has supported impeachment and deferred to Pelosi in the past but plans to talk to the speaker. “His conduct is so opprobrious that its hard for people to eventually not see that he’s trampled on the Constitution. . . . So that’s going to eventually lead people to consider , I think.” Yet at the same time, Pelosi’s standard for whether to move ahead on impeachment remains unmet: No Republican lawmaker has joined Democrats in calling for removing the president, and public sentiment — something Pelosi frequently cites as the safeguard for any policies or political moves — has not shifted in Democratic investigators’ favor. A majority of Americans say they oppose initiating impeachment against Trump, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll released Friday. Thirty-seven percent of Americans favor starting the process that could lead to impeachment, a slight dip over the past month, while 56 percent say they oppose the idea, about the same as a month ago. On Monday, Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) focused on working with Trump, not ousting him. The two Democratic leaders and other lawmakers were scheduled to meet with Trump at the White House on Tuesday to discuss a bipartisan infrastructure plan. It has created something of a dual reality in the House Democratic Caucus, with Pelosi signing a letter to Trump saying, “We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday. Best wishes,” and investigators increasingly outraged. Barr’s appearance Thursday could reduce the frustration. The attorney general threatened Friday to boycott the hearing over the Democrats’ plan to have a counsel question him along with lawmakers. In July 1974, when the House Judiciary Committee passed three articles of impeachment against President Richard M. Nixon, one of the charges leveled against him was “contempt of Congress,” while the third article said Nixon had “failed without lawful cause or excuse to produce papers and things as directed by duly authorized subpoenas” and “willfully disobeyed such subpoenas.” The full House never voted on the articles of impeachment, and Nixon resigned in August. Now, Trump is flaunting his intentions to rebuff congressional requests. His advisers have told former White House counsel Donald McGahn he cannot testify or cooperate with lawmakers’ probe of obstruction, even though they waived executive privilege to allow him to testify in the Mueller investigation. And they’ve reached out to other former aides to encourage them to ignore the House’s inquiries. Trump is also blocking the Ways and Means Committee from obtaining his tax returns, and his lawyers are suing the Oversight Committee for requesting records from his accounting firm. Pelosi has walked her caucus back from the brink on impeachment before. Several weeks ago, when many liberals began pressing for impeachment, she declared that Trump was “not worth it” in an interview with The Washington Post. Lawmakers fell into line, demonstrating the strength of her pull with the caucus. Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, said in an interview Monday night that it was still too early to talk about impeachment and that the House needed to go through a process — not jump ahead several steps. “We’ll have to cross that bridge when we come to it,” Bass said. “I think it is critically important that we go through the entire process, in terms of hearings, having people come, and if they don’t come, subpoenaing them, and if they don’t do that, then taking them to court, and that we educate the public all the way. If we were to jump from the Mueller report into impeachment, I think it would be very confusing.” Another member of Pelosi’s leadership team noted that there were several deadlines looming and that lawmakers needed to wait to see what happens. Barr, for example, is supposed to turn over the full Mueller report by Wednesday to honor a House subpoena. He is not expected to do so, and Democrats are prepared to take him to court. In addition, McGahn is supposed to hand over documents in the coming days. Attendance
Please note that I do take attendance daily for my records only (no attendance policy is attached to your grade), and I usually leave the choice of dropping the course to the students enrolled in this course. However, if a student has stopped attending the class and has accrued more than two consecutive absences, I will drop that student by the deadline of 11/19/17 unless that student has contacted me. Students should be aware that if I drop them from this course between the dates of 9/11/17 and 11/19/17, they will receive a “W” on their records. All students who are still enrolled after 11/19/17 will receive a letter grade (or pass/no pass option if that student has chosen that option).
Please note as well: if a student is enrolled in this class and does not show up on the first day of the semester, he or she may be dropped from the class.
If you miss any classes and assignments, it is your responsibility to get the necessary information from another classmate. In order to make this policy easier on everyone, I will be passing out a sign-up sheet that will list every students' LACCD email address. If you are uncomfortable about giving out such information to the entire class, you must choose one or two classmates and exchange any contact information with them. I want every student to be able to contact someone from the class in case of any absences.
Due Dates for Essays, Research Papers and Homework
Unless otherwise noted, homework assignments are due the next class session. Due dates for essays will be printed in the prompts. Most importantly, only hard copies handed to me in class are considered to be on time. Anything given to me after that class session will be considered late even if you turn in your work the same day.
My late policy is outlined as follows:
Late homework will be either accepted or rejected on a case-by-case basis. You must turn in late assignments by the very next class date. Please note: if you miss any assignments, you first need to contact a fellow student for information on any assignments. This is why I’m asking every student to exchange either phone numbers or email addresses with a classmate.
Late essays: I reserve the right to turn in your essays any time I want, and this includes turning in any late essays on the last day of class. In addition, I date stamp all essays. Lastly, I will apply the following penalties:
If you turn in a late essay, I will deduct 3% from whatever grade your late final draft earns. For example, if your late essay initially earns an A (14%), the 3% penalty deduction will drop your grade to a C (11%).
If you do not in any draft for an essay assignment, you will receive an F grade (0%).
Late Research Paper: if you turn in a late research paper, I will deduct 4% points from whatever grade your late research paper earns. For example, if your late research paper initially earns a B (21.4%), the 4% deduction will drop your grade to a D (17.4%).
Please note: I will not allow any make-ups for the in-class essay unless you can provide an official written excuse such as a doctor’s note.
Plagiarism Policy
What is plagiarism? Plagiarism occurs when a student takes sentences or phrases from another writer and inserts these sentences or phrases into his or her writing and does not acknowledge or indicate that these are from another writer or outside source whether it is an essay, article, book, blog, etc.
You must be careful in how you present outside sources. If you turn in any work that uses unacknowledged ideas or concepts from other writers, you will receive an F grade (0 points) with no option for a re-write. I will also report any instance of plagiarism to the school; this means that the school will investigate the report and will take appropriate action against the plagiarist.
Special Services
Students with disabilities, whether physical, learning, or psychological, who believe that they may need accommodations in this class, are encouraged to contact Special Services as soon as possible to ensure that such accommodations are implemented in a timely fashion. Authorization, based on verification of disability, is required before any accommodation can be made. The phone number for Special Services is (818) 719-6430, and the office of Special Services is located in the Administration Bldg, Room 1024.
Student Health Center
Medical and mental health services are available to all currently enrolled students at the Student Health Center. There is no cost to students to see any of the medical and mental health providers during extended office hours. Call 818-710-4270 to make an appointment or to ask a question. Located on the 2nd floor of the Student Services Building. www.piercecollege.edu/offices/health_center
Cell Phone Policy
If you receive a call on your cell phone, please take it outside the classroom. Texting is not allowed inside the classroom, and if I find you texting inside the classroom, I reserve the right to confiscate your cell phone till the end of the class session.
CLASS SCHEDULE (FALL 2017)
Please note: this schedule may be subject to change. There may be changes to reading assignments, due dates, and class discussions because of time constraints and other unforeseen circumstances.
WEEK 1 (9/2): introduction to class; introduction to analysis and criticism of poetry
