Here's a (super) rough draft of a song I wrote 10 years ago in high school- seemed appropriate to share today.
Lyrics under the cut!
Oh, Soothsayer, tell us what you know
Soothsayer, is it just for show?
Propaganda can shape reality
Make conspirators of devotees
What are we?
And we took turns stabbing the Emperor and watched him bleed before our eyes
and we took turns stabbing the Emperor and watched him bleed on the Ides
On the Ides of March, through the eyes of Mars
On the Ides of March, through the eyes of Mars
Oh, fair citizens, why this animosity?
Fair citizens, we've prevented tyranny
Love your coward, sure, but love us more
Havoc! Let slip the dogs of war
To the sea
And we took turns stabbing the Emperor and watched him bleed before our eyes
and we took turns stabbing the Emperor and watched him bleed on the Ides
Even you, even you, even you, even you
And you hurt worse than all of the others
For he loved you the most and you were just like your brothers
On the Ides of March, through the eyes of Mars
On the Ides of March, through the eyes of Mars
Oooooooh
We can't blame this one on the stars
The fault is ours, the fault is ours
It does not matter how
We are the tyrants now, we are the tyrants now
Even you, even you, even you, even you
And you hurt worse than all of the others
For he loved you the most and you were just like your brothers
On the Ides of March, through the eyes of Mars
On the Ides of March, through the eyes of Mars
