Genuine question as I am curious — I know it’s pretty obvious with his expressions/ body language that Daniel seemed shy/insecure(?) about having his braces, but has he ever outright said anything about feeling that way with them? Just out of curiosity as I am new around here!

#well he doesn’t exactly say he was self-conscious of his braces but he was definitely very self-conscious about how he looked #it’s always very interesting to me the way Daniel talks about his younger self #it’s so different from how other f1 drivers talk about their early days #he’s so self-critical of younger him that I wish he was a bit more forgiving of younger him #the way he’s admitted he was never a standout talent during his karting days #that he was so hesitant to get involved in battles that his dad got mad at him #the way on the gypsy tales podcast he talks about Motocross riders being fearless and how he doesn’t have that until jase interrupts him -#to say how how mad he is because just a few days ago he was throwing a car around on a street circuit at some 300kph #the way in this video with will he describes himself walking into the paddock like a ‘headless chick’#the way he has said so many times he was scared to move away from home. how uncertain he was he would ever succeed #and then that one video towards the end of 2022 when he says ‘I was just Daniel then’ in reference to his younger self #like he has such a distinct way of looking at his younger self. like he views that part of him almost as a separate entity from the him now #and I guess that’s because it took a lot of work and years to build that confidence of becoming Daniel ricciardo #a confidence he got as he managed to survive the shark tank of the red bull junior academy #a confidence he got from beating his 4x wdc teammate. from winning the most insane races #and that confidence then getting completely decimated in the space of a few months in 2022 #and even now the more he says he is confident you can still see that tiny hesitancy #how every time he gets a good result you see how he yearns to lean back into his confident Daniel schtick #and he may just completely embrace it soon anyway <3 #daniel ricciardo #anon ask

Creators I love you but it's time to wake up

Among rumors about our tumblr user data being sold off to Midjourney/Generative AI, recent Extremely transphobic events (that have been ongoing) coming to a head, another extremely concerning internet censorship bill being pushed in upper levels of government, and a general air of frustration over how the site belongs to and is operated by perhaps the second stupidest CEO (second only to twitters own) of our age, I'm very done with the last few vestiges of what the old internet held for artists.

And if you're reading this, you probably are too.

I know we're tired. We are all tired. It is not always viable to pack up shop and move, again and again and again.

From tumblr to twitter to anywhere else we've ever grown up posting, things no longer work. Our audiences are kneecapped by aggressive and hostile algorithms, our reach is abysmal - if we aren't shadow-banned or silenced for one (transphobic) reason or another, we're thrust into an ever growing pit of hostility where the only thing that drives clicks is fighting and contention.

We're tired. We're so fucking tired. We aren't businesses, we aren't content mills, we cannot keep this pace that modern social media has set for us, to wring every ounce of creativity out of us to profit from and leave us rotting.

The key to staying afloat here, and I cannot stress this enough, is to stay connected to your peers.

Pack up and move as units if you must. Exodus from the sites that are killing us. Push your entire friend group of artists to move from one site to the next that promises you a kinder experience.

Art drives movements, it drives change, it is all that encompasses being human. If you take that away from the shitty places, they will be left with nothing but a cesspit of inhumanity and the people who follow you will be more incentivized than ever to move with you.

Yes, this is terrifying. There are no guarantees. There never was, and never are, and never will be.

But stay connected. Stay human.

Support each other and be willing to hold hands and jump when we all - as a group - need to jump from the flames we're all trying to convince ourselves wont kill us before rescue comes.

Rescue isn't coming, rescue will be found hand in hand with each other. I'm offering you my hand, please take it. There's always a new start, there are always helping hands reaching for you. You have to look up from the doom-scroll long enough to see and take them.

Bad news: That joke post about including Reset + Orchid is definitely not canon. (I legit got sad thinking about Reset being in a universe where Orchid isn't- because their stories are so so intertwined- but Nightmare 100% would NOT risk the whole twins exploding Error's soul thing.)

Good news: This means I COULD include Kane (Reset's older brother who usually dies in timelines where Reset is born) and use it to develope his character a bit more! Also! Perhaps a Blue × Dream kiddo is finally in the stars for me to design?

#new age au #really enjoying the idea of Reaper + Geno having an heir at some point (and them sending that heir over to Night's kingdom for #exposure to other places as well as to hang with his third cool knight dad who's hard at work 🙏)#Kane has little to no development besides being a perfect angel (foil to Reset's eventual turn to poor choices) so I'd love to do #to him what I do to every oc of mine. #if I make art of my ocs who I'm personally fond of and spent a few days drawing just right and it gets 3 reblogs then it gets 3 reblogs #it's rational to feel a little disappointed sure. but I can't do anything about that. it's just luck #and I got Very lucky accumulating a few thousand followers on my main-turned-art-only blog off the back of when m.oomin was very popular #(tho realistically many of those users are probably inactive/passive followers now)#and having this number of people tuned into my posts Still only gets me a couple dozen notes on original stuff.#every 3 years or so something might blow up. like that bugs bunny comic lol. and I did Not expect it to #especially bc it happened about a year after I shared it as well.#it can happen any time. so don't feel discouraged when your art doesn't get noticed right away #the one advantage this website has is that there's far less of a fomo culture compared to other socials where trends come and go in a week #and people will still interact with older posts. especially bc it's easier to find what you want through the tagging system. sort of.#there's really no way to predict this or aim for large engagement! oh unless you're specifically catering to the current hot topic #like d.unmeshi is wiiiildly popular right now. Summary/prompt: While out running errands around Crestwood with Solas, Dorian, and the Iron Bull; Inquisitor Lavellan is hit by an unexpected truth spell that suddenly has her spilling her guts any time someone asks a question. This would be less of a problem if she wasn't the polite, diplomatic leader of an ever-growing organization, who now can't hold anything back. Or if she wasn't trying to stay subtle about the muddle of her emotions about one of her companions in particular.

Fluff & Angst, or more like "silliness and pining" really. Currently T but eventually E rating.
