He wouldn't ever call himself "lucky." Usually, when something seemed to be going his way, it was only a matter of moments before the tables were turned to their natural position... of screwing him over.

Honestly, the only genuine luck he can recall was meeting her and the rest of the team. Everything else tended to backfire-

"Right-"

I would caution against using your webs. We have no idea how good its hearing is.

"... good call."

He made his way over to one of the nearby supports, and started slowly crawling his way up.

'Alright, should be easy enough. Just sneak in close, press the button, and then BAM, we're in business.'

Do not let your guard down. This thing could wake up at any moment.

'I know, I know! Stop shocking nagging at me and let me concentrate!!'

He soon reached the ceiling, and started inching his way towards the creature, his lenses narrowed in intense focus, looking for any sign this thing was about to wake up. But right as he got within range of the beast, the tables of fate turned to their rightful place, causing one of the worst potential outcomes to be realized.

... he forgot to put his phone on silent-

"... $#&%."

The creature soon opened its eyes, glaring at the masked man as he frantically tried to pull out his phone out of his pocket, to try to salvage this and pull the monster into the Metaverse regardless.

The dragon let out a loud roar as it spread its wings and swung its massive clawed hand towards him, with Aaron barely able to leap from the ceiling before it could land a strike, though nearly dropping his phone in the process.

"C'mon c'mon!!"

But he couldn't let himself stray too far, he still needed to pull this thing in, and fast, before Makoto was put in harm's way. So he fired a webline at the dragon's chest, swinging off of it as he unlocked his phone and prepared to use the MetaNav.

He yanked the line hard, pulling him in closer before hitting the button to pull them both inside. _________________________

The warehouse was the exact same as it was in reality. If he hadn't hit the button, he'd be completely unaware they'd gone anywhere at all. Just as the creature seemed to be, unfazed by the subtle transition between worlds and continuing to lash out at the Spider.

'Okay, that's the hard part done. Now we just gotta get- UGHH!!'

The dragon backhanded him away, spiking him towards the ground where he impacted with a shipping container, toppling it over and leaving a massive dent where he'd landed.

'-on the ground... ow-'

But the beast wasn't quite finished with its prey. It landed beside him with a deafening thud, towering over him before snatching him up in its clawed hand and starting to drain his lifeforce and stamina.

'Shock, its got Energy Drain!! It's not just a dragon, it's a goddamn Vampire Dragon!!'

He desperately tried to pry the creature's hand open, but the more it drained, the larger and stronger it became. It was already twice his size when they'd first found it, and it was slowly getting bigger. And because it was draining his energy at the same time, it was getting harder and harder to fight back.

"Hnnnn- okay... definitely need the backup for this one-"

Makoto, being slightly behind him, was quick to notice the dripping as well and had tried to get his attention but he seemed to be too wrapped up in talking to himself, she still wasn't sure how the whole thing worked with his powers sometimes, for him to really pay her much mind.

It was only when he looked up finally that he noticed what was hanging up above him, honestly, it was lucky for him that the thing seemed to be resting off its injury and the exertion it probably had to put up when it broke out of its containment. Aaron seemed to somehow always have the best luck when the situation called for it it would seem.

Stepping forward she made sure to keep as quiet as possible as she gestured to his phone that was in his hand.

"We won't get a better chance than this to send it to the metaverse so I suggest we take it." She muttered softly glancing from him to the slumbering creature above them.

THE Life of Us/Drifting MUSIC VIDEO IS AMAZING 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I think one can make an entire essay long post trying to explain what the scenes could mean. I’m glad that XZ was able to meet and work with a director like LIN who was able to execute this. I can only imagine the creative ideas XZ had for this and to have someone understand his vision and bring it to life is special. It’s so obvious the time, effort and money spent on this and we got it for free. The entire album is free to listen to. I just. Everything about this drop is such a slap to the antis who said it will be 9 covers and 1 original song but XZ goes bitch hold my beer lemme give all original songs and high quality music videos. oh wait, let me write some of the songs too. let me put in some details in my life there just to make it fun. how about that?!

P1: the person climbing a ladder in the clouds is something he drew before. I’m proud of him cause this idea of his has been realized. this reminds me of jack and the beanstalk!

P7: Life of Us = Life of Pi. Which is explained more in P8. OP mention that the main character Pi said when writing in his diary: "Everything has become chaotic and broken, I can no longer distinguish between daydreams, sleep, and reality.” The movie/book is a story about a young man who survived a shipwreck and drifted on the sea.but the deeper level seems to be a discussion about human nature, animal nature, and divinity. It’s about the struggle between ego, id, and superego.That tiger may be Pi's heart. What is drifting on the sea, for Pi, is me and "I"; and Pi, It seems to be the epitome of every "us". Finally, Pi told more than one version of the story, and he asked: "Which version do you prefer?" In fact, the choice of the story has always been "me".

"Life of Us/Drifting" sings "What is a dream, what is my greatest fear" "What is a dream, what is what I want most" It’s a question about your own heart, and only you can give the answer.

and i noticed that one take where you can see some vintage things like the telephone, but i realized that xz is almost the same age as me so these are things we grew up using!

i’m sure there are more details here and not to mention the hidden meanings too. but that is what makes this video so fun to watch multiple times! you can discover something new each time! I hope they release some behind the scenes on how this was created and all that. i think there should be a documentary of sorts connected to this album if i remember correctly. so yeah! so much more in store for is when it comes to this album 😊

I finally got around to watching P5, ofc I had to draw my fav 🥺 Not sure if I'll finish it, since it's just a sketch, but I so very much wanna draw more Risotto's (and Proscuitto's for that matter)❤️

The last time I read the manga was around 2009, and since then P5 always stuck with me. Back then I was hoping for an anime adaptation so badly, but it was looking dire. I remember playing the PS2 Vento Aureo game hours on end to get my fill, and buying discounted figures at a con for €1 each because no one knew what Jojo was (let alone part 5) and no one had any interest in buying ugly 10 old merch from the late 90s/early 00s.

Either way, my hype for Jojo subsided over the years and long story short, I finally got around to watching the anime recently and everything just came back to me lol. I love this series to death. Risotto and Proscuitto have always been my favorite ever since first having read the manga, and I still love them so much and wish they got more screentime. The anime added more scenes with them which is already a blessing, but I'm still craving for more so fanart time it is 🥹❤️

For anyone looking to make their own Persona AUs, the Shin Megami Tensei wiki is honestly one of the better places to research the recurring tropes of various social links (ie, the Magician typically being the Protagonist's first male friend, the Justice typically being prone to anger). Do note that because of the nature of the Persona and SMT franchises you'll find potentially triggering content, so do tread lightly!

and this is a good time to bring up actually: if my talking about persona has made you interested in playing, yay! they’re super cool and fun games! HOWEVER, they have some pretty big content warnings on them. (here the content warnings are for p3/p4/p5; I would be shocked if these themes aren’t in p1/p2, but I haven’t played those.)

all three games have at least some mentions/relevant sexual assault

all three games have scenes of severe bullying

all three games discuss suicide

all three games have death, including major character death, as a theme, with persona 3 having death be its MAIN theme.

all three games have some elements of institutionalized abuse as part of their story

familial/child abuse is also in at least one social link in all three games, and is a major plot point in at least p3 and p5.

mental health in general is a major theme of all three games.

all three games have some element of unreality as a theme.

additionally, while the above are the things I think atlus would say they intentionally put in as heavy themes, persona also has some… “jokes”… that it is irresponsible to make a recommendation without mentioning.

atlus tends to use the “predatory gay man” and “predatory trans woman” bit for laughs. yes, I’m sorry, in all three games, although I was pleasantly surprised to see they’d actually removed that from persona 3 in p3 reload! but it’s in one scene in p5, and in p4 it’s… complicated. one of the lead characters is gay, and part of his character arc is about internalized homophobia. however, another character will make statements like he’s scared to share a tent with him, which is never treated as justified but IS treated as a “joke”, on account of the character doing the homophobia being a comic relief character. additionally, naoto’s character arc can easily be read as transphobic (as naoto needing to accept being a woman rather than a man), although I know different people have different reactions to this arc. p4 is my favorite but it is NOT a recommendation I give without content warnings for a reason.

also, while p4 as a game is well aware of the amount of violence against women in it and the bad guy who does it is a nihilist and a loser, it is a major plot point, and it’s not always treated with grace.

also, all three games notoriously have at least one “comedy relief” scene of the guys picking up women and honestly it’s normally more like, anime cringe than actually misogynistic but it feels like I should bring it up?

also in both p3 and p5 there are social links that can lead to you flirting with your teacher. yeah. it’s avoidable but it’s sure there.

overall: REALLY GOOD GAMES, and when the writing is good in them it’s REALLY GOOD. they’re also consistently games that people who otherwise wouldn’t be into an 100-hour jrpgs end up realizing why people like the genre with! but they are ALSO games where the content warnings here are warranted!

yes!!! it's me!!! i'm ryomina fan (one of many)!!! thank you for visiting my askbox, i'll do my best to answer all of the questions because it always makes me happy to see that ryomina sparks joy for people! :D

...this got really long because i like linking to things, so i'm putting it under a read more (IM VERY NORMAL ABOUT THEM)

how did i get into it? i got into persona 3 around august 2021 through the movies- at the time my only experience with the persona series was with P5R / P5S / P5D. p3 was the one that interested me the most (i thought minato was very pretty + i caught wind that the themes of the game were very resonant with people). i picked the movies over the game because i'm a guy who plays games at a snails pace, haha.

admittedly, i did latch onto ryomina because of the scenes in the third and fourth movie (i have mentioned in the tags of this art i drew how much i felt like i was exploding and blasting off to the moon watching it).

but what really dug me into the ryomina hole (and what has kept me there) was thinking about how much ryoji encapsulates the themes of p3- and how interconnected his fate is with minato. i wrote some musings about their dynamic here, if you're interested!

tl;dr: what if we were both boys and we were mirror images of each other and i inherited your kindness and looks but god doomed our narrative even though we're soulmates

on ryomina fanworks recommendations:

regarding fics: i'm going to assume that you've probably read the fics that have the highest kudo ratings on them, so i won't really be listing those.

a personal favorite fic that i always hold close to my heart is Eurydice's Vow by crescentmoontea, which explores the idea of ryomina in p5r's third semester. this was the first fic i read about ryomina and it made me tear up lots...

i also think a lot about I Alone Await You by Nail_gun, literally scrumptious writing that captures the ryomina dynamic so so well. actually check out Nail_gun's other ryomina fics while you're at it too!

other fun fic i'm fond of: can't get my mind out of those memories (what were they?) by foxmulder_whereartthou. ryoji being homeless lives rent free in my head and it's all because of this fic. there's a bunch of other fun ryominas from the same author too (i still need to read them)

BkZa555 also has some fun AU scenarios if you're into that too, notably with Zagreus (P5-Setting, Ryoji focus) and The Definition of Insanity (TIME LOOP fuckery!), but they're currently ongoing.

these were some ones that came to my mind first- as i have the strongest recollection reading them. admittedly i haven't really been reading fic this year, so i don't have many recommendations from fic that came out this year. but if you're so inclined to let ryomina consume your soul, i definitely recommend giving the newer works in the ryomina tag a look-see and see if it strikes your fancy!

as a side note, i do have a few ryomina fics that i've bookmarked on my ao3 here, though i have to say that i'm not sure how well they hold up in terms of like... what i would seek out of a fic these days. but they made past me happy so i bookmarked them, LOL. it's kind of outdated (my collection of fic recs has my old username *disintegrates*).

regarding doujinshi: i have not read all the ryomina doujinshi available, but as a starting point, please take a look at this list from pandora-scans from livejournal!

notably, this is where you can find the strawberry-chan say good bye doujin- which features a small and cute comic from shuji sogabe (the p3/p4 manga artist), as well as other artists. the existence of this doujinshi is the funniest thing to me because it's like "HEY if you're wondering what the volume 8 cover is really gay it's because sogabe contributed to a ryomina doujin." this fact makes my head spin (positive). it explains a lot about the manga.

regarding persona side material:

i know you didn't ask for these but i thought that i mine as well list these too, since i feel that the side materials have some fun expansions on ryoji and minato's interactions. i haven't... watched/read all of these but, hey, i like to share these things!

Austin 2024 Race Prediction

The sprint was literally so all over the place, I love the chaos. It’s truly serving this weekend. Qualifying was also like, nutty as fuck. I’m here for things getting weird and wild.

My favorite hockey team just got their shit absolutely rocked, so I’ll be going dark. Anyways, here is what the cards have to say for tomorrow.

P1 - Lando Norris - Temperance

Temperance is about balance, and maintaining balance. I’m taking this in the sense that he needs to remain calm and not worked up if he loses position off start. We’ll see him on podium, but I don’t think it’ll be top step.

P2 - Max Verstappen - The Lovers

With how happy Max was today, it’s clear to me that the love is being felt. Austin loves Max, and Max loves Austin. I 100% think we will see him on the top step if he is able to get the position from the start.

P3 - Carlos Sainz - Six of Wands, reversed

It’s a card of triumph. If Carlos carries over the energy from today he’s absolutely going to be a force tomorrow. The Carlos girlies will be eating good tomorrow.

P4 - Charles Leclerc - The Moon

It’s a deceit, so I’m going to guess that the strategy is going to be ABSOLUTELY fumbled, and Charles will pay for it.

P5 - Oscar Piastri - Six of Cups

It’s going to be a really good effort tomorrow, but I’m not seeing much success. This is a card of goodwill, innocence, and super nostalgic. If anything, I think Oscar might be having a super off week where he is stuck in his own head.

P6 - George Russell - Knight of Cups, reversed

This one interests me, because the knight is sensitive, almost overly so. I’m going to assume that there is some mental fuckery happening from todays race and the crash that have kind of thrown some things off. I think we’ll see a massive struggle.

P7 - Pierre Gasly - Queen of Pentacles, reversed

Can I admit something? Is this a safe space? I think I’m a huge fan of Pierre guys. The not so vague threats against others has endeared me. Anyways, this is a card of resourcefulness, so I’m hoping we see the drive of his life tomorrow. I don’t think we’ll see many position gains, but it’ll be a hell of a drive.

P8 - Fernando Alonso - Knight of Wands

War criminal Fernando incoming. This Knight is hot-tempered, and overly confident. Fernando is going to be reckless tomorrow. I don’t think he’ll maintain points at all because of the driving, and potential for penalty.

P9 - Kevin Magnussen - 10 of Swords, reversed

It’s my second favorite war criminal. If there is contact between drivers tomorrow, Kevin will be at the scene of the crime. This is a card of victimhood, of bottoming out, and I absolutely think we’ll see that tomorrow.

P10 - Sergio Perez - Seven of Pentacles

Checo is getting points tomorrow, I fully believe that he is going to be rewarded for the shit show that has been this weekend so far!

I find it funny how certain scenes in video games can feel so different the second time you come across them, and P5 has plenty of these, but some of my favorites are:

Sojiro's phone calls from the first 3 arcs, combined with his comments about phone numbers and Joker being the only man to ever sit in his front seat, these calls had a horrid vibe, I was positive these were the ladies he was using and the kindness we heard was just for something in return.

Now on replays, his random soft moments where he smiles and lowers his voice and speaks softly to Futaba even after sometimes yelling at Joker, it's cute. It's soft and it's one of those things that makes me love my coffee dad that little bit more.

Lala-chan and meeting Ohya for the first time. After everything else that happens in Shinjuku that night, I had no confidence upon hearing Lala talk for the first time, I knew the jokes were about to be uncomfortable and offensive (If my experience with Catherine was anything to go by).

Much to my surprise and delight, Lala is a well written, interesting and all around lovely character. Closest woman to having a motherly relationship with Joker there is, she never makes him uncomfortable and that scene where Ohya gets blackout drunk and she closes crossroads so she can walk him to the station so he won't get hurt? I think about that a lot.

The only other one I can think of is just how much dread I'm filled with when replaying the Kamoshida arc every time Shiho is on screen, the inability to change the narrative no matter what, it's unpleasant and only seems to grow stronger with every playthrough.

Anyways, I think moments like these are cool in video games and I wanna know if there's anything that happens that anyone else has majorly had change for them upon replays

whose backstory.... fuck. okay. Most interested in wiwi's backstory. of course. i AM really interested in vyncent's whole deal but i feel like his fucked up knife that possesses him (?????????) is slightly more of a specific thing than backstory. and i DO wanna know howww the jrpg protag isekai'd here but also like. consider... wiwi. also i wanna know if im right & ashe/ashes fucked up demon grimoire r responsible for his mom's death. ALSO I WANNA KNOW WHY MARK'S A LIZARD GUY.

FAVORITE MOMENTS SO FAR.... i LOVED the spirit world shit it was all so cinematic it was so lovely. usually im dogshit at like, visualizing descriptions in my head? but all of that was very much oh, yeah for sure, ive seen this cartoon! i know whats happening! that whole episode went hard as fuck. can't believe we got vyncent with a gun ashe going holy shit why am i fucking doing this imgonnadie william having a horrifying crisis over eating a fucking soul & dakota getting murked in one episode. & mal is just. on just. such a different level such a different world from Anything else they've experienced. its so good.

also i still really love the winding-down end of that amalgam island ep (5?) where they r exhausted & coming off so many huge emotions & stress & stuff & tide arrives.... that's really the scene that fucking hooked me i think. going ohhh yeah theyre just fucking kids and everyone at this table Knows theyre kids in a world where people will just fucking kill you. like,, yeah, it WOULD be fucked up if you were seventeen and ran into an island full of horrifying human and animal experimentation & abuse!! and theyre not playing it as a motw adventure where its just sillygoofy? ok. ok!! maybe these guys know where theyre taking it. like i can count on one hand maybe the amount of times ive been like "yeah im sure whatever the creators do will be good they've always done good & thoughtful work. i don't have to continually be delegating brain space to how im dissatisfied with this story." so i guess. i just like the show a lot!!

what am i most interested in about the world... ohhh man i love cape worldbuilding it's maybe like one of my favorite things. so i guess i'm interested in All of It?? in an overall probably-wont-be-answered-because-its-not-that-genre way i'd love 2 know what religion looks like in a world where JESUS IS A TRADEMARKED SUPERHERO & kids can come back from the dead. id love 2 know more ab the dynamic btwn politics & the cape world here thats always interesting? i really enjoy the approach they took 2 the kid heroes in the beginning, as in: these guys are literally still students they are not Supposed to be doing big hero shit. theyre not supposed to be doing teen titans or x-men shit & it is in fact a massive massive fuckup on their guardian's part when they Are in those positions. i'm a big fan of that i like it a lot more than the alternative. (unless yr like in a world like parahumans where there Is a narrative & in-universe reason why child & teen cape teams exist)

what villains am i most afraid of....... ok i kind of feel like being afraid of mal is like, being afraid of hurricanes or something. like sure i can be nervous about him but i can't fucking do anything if he's coming this way. so it's better i think to not think about it until it comes up & then pray. so i guess i AM really concerned about the overlord stuff. i dont know where it's gonna go but i know it'll be nowhere good & i know it'll end up getting people hurt. so.!!!!!!

Persona 3 update mostly on the story. I just got Aeigis and as a unit she's interested. Very focused on two things which are buffs and AOE physical damage. However her versatility is low so hopefully she gets better skills later. I didn't expect to get her this early I thought she was the last one we get like. Personality wise she's okay. Standard robot character so far but I'm sure her story gets crazy.

But what I really want to talk about is the characters of P3 and how it's really good at giving them their own agency. At first I was very disappointed that characters didn't get their personas through a self revelation like 4 and 5 and that their social links are way more of a barrier, but I get now it's bc they put more time putting their character development into the actual story instead of social links.

I think Yukari might be my favorite Persona character which man it's hard putting her over Ryuju, Kanji, and Mishima but damn she's up there. Her telling everyone off was chefs kiss to be honest. Dont get me wrong I adore Akihiko and Kirijo and I'm not necessarily saying they deserved to get yelled at like that. But Yukari definitely deserved to pop off. And the scene with her on the beach is great. The fact that she's like there's nothing you can say that will make it go away is just great. Again she's the most normal persona but her determination to do go snooping and finding out the truth is just so badass.

Moving onto Junpei my sweet sweet boy. I understand he's an insecure boy who just wants to feel respected and lovef and worth something but that doesn't mean I wanna go around hitting on women that I have no interest in. But I digress. I love his little arc after the love hotel where he just feels such visible content. I felt bad bc I do like Junpei and I hated him being mad even if it wasn't my fault. But it very sweet tbh after the erealizesnthst he's the problem he genuinely goes 'sorry I've been a dick' and we're good but I get the sense that feeling of resentment isn't over. It seems like a common theme in the Magician arcana.

I need to know what went down with Akihiko and Shinji. Also apparently Kirijo gonea through some intense shit too. They're still shrouded in so much mystery in such an intriguing way and seeing them both open up slowly is very sweet. Also I didn't expect Kirijos dad to be so nice I was expecting a Haru situation.

Fuuka is very funny and her willingness to hack into a major corporation is peak. Again I love her own agenda is just not wanting to stay with her parents.

Again, I love that everyone has their own agenda that makes more internal conflict. The P4 and P5 groups all shared the same goal so most conflict was external and very rarely did personal character development happen outside of their persona awakening or social links.

Also looks like I was pretty accurate in my analysis of the protag and that he's just vwry quiet and calm. He's a good leader, but socially he doesn't say much. So I'm more lenient with him being not as expressive as Yu and Akira if that is in fact his character. Yu comes off as very empathetic and a bit more extroverted (from what I remember it's been a while since I've played 4 and 5 and ofc player choices matter) and Ren comes off as introverted but with a silly side along with a strong sense to help others.

But yeah quickish analysis of the my P3 experience. Could possibly become my favorite solely for Yukari.

these are the fics that occupy my thoughts to this very day and changed my perception of these characters. that made me cry and laugh and changed me forever. in no particular order, without further ado, these are my favorite p5 fics of all time.

Daredevil, You've Hit the Wall

A Persona 5 Strikers rewrite with Sumire and Akechi. Cookie is a phenomenal writer, and she'll be showing up on this list at a later point. Her characterization of both Akira and Akechi are absolutely godly, and their arcs in this fic are incredibly satisfying for someone who loved Strikers but was left disappointed by the lack of Akechi.

Read this if you like Akira angst, want to see Akechi improve himself and befriend the Thieves (and all the complications that come with that), like Strikers (or don't like Strikers), or love akeshu. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Love is a game (and I only play to lose)

The worst possible outcome to the Interrogation Room. This one is Dark, but the akeshu is absolutely phenomenal. Definitely heed the tags, this one isn't for everyone, but I was hooked from beginning to end. While I don't normally read Hurt No Comfort, I am very glad I gave this one a chance.

Time loop of the interrogation room scene. Akira and Akechi are Not Okay. This fic makes me go hnnngh it's so well written the prose is beautiful and everyone is so in character it hurts. I love my bois please someone get them therapy.

Ehehehe yeah well. This one is nsfw, but it doesn't actually have a whole lot of sex. It's more of a character study than anything, and despite the title and crack concept, is actually really beautiful and sweet? If the title doesn't scare you off please check it out I promise it is incredibly good.

The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

AKESHU PIRATE AU!! Goro is a prisoner at a lighthouse and Akira is a pirate. The ways the author plays with their backstories in this AU is fascinating. I'm obsessed with this version of Akira and Goro and I really really wish a sequel existed that explored Sumire because my god-

If you like AUs, pirates, angst, and themes about self loathing and redemption, then check this one out. I think about it constantly.

Flight through fall

Okay....this one is probably the heaviest of all the fics on this list. Severe trigger warning for suicide, self harm, and medical stuff. It's...a lot. But it is also very very good. Akira is Not Doing Well after the events of Royal, and Akechi showing up in his life only makes things worse. This fic is not for everyone, but I personally found it very cathartic and poetic, to the point where I read it two times in a row.

Once More, With Feeling

Another akeshu timeloop, but this time, it's the day of the engine room scene. (I really like timeloop stories.) And then halfway through it also becomes a Palace fic (I won't say whose for the sake of spoilers). I love the characterization of Akechi and Akira here. The way they both handle the time loop is so very Them. It explores ideas of redemption, guilt, and finding a way to move on. I love this Akira so much please someone give him a hug <3

Falling Up

This is one of the only short one shots that have made such an impression on me to make it to this list. Akira and Akechi in the third semester. Akechi has...Feelings about having killed Akira. I don't want to say too much else for fear of giving too much away. Please read this. It's short and powerful and beautiful.

Sae Niijima has a cognition of Akechi, and he's really fucked up. Please make sure to heed the warnings, this one's pretty violent. The exploration of Akechi is phenomenal and I think about the ending (and the rest of it) all of the time constantly.

When it's over, you're the start

Everyone starts to forget Akechi ever existed. This longer one shot made me fucking cry. It's so mean, incredibly mean, but don't worry, it has a happy ending. Nothing can erase the power of akeshu.

Please Don't Take My Sunshine Away

A what-if Mamakechi didn't die, but instead was kidnapped by Shido and her suicide faked? The characterization for Misato (Mamakechi) is sooo good, and while this fic does travel some dark places, it ultimately does result in some heartwrenching comfort for both Goro and his mama. I love this fic so fucking much, Misato is such a fantastic interpretation of Goro's mother and the the angst is sublime.

The best Akechi Palace fic I've read by a landslide, to the point where it's inspired my own Akechi Palace fic quite a bit. I had my kink awakening thanks to this fic (while reading That Scene in the middle seat on an airplane. Sorry, strangers). It's mostly an Akechi character study and an incredibly good one at that. I wish it existed as a game. It did what p5t did with Toshiro with Akechi and it did it so incredibly well. This fic makes me insane. Read it.

Fools Rush In

Akira speedruns Akechi's confidant in a day. This is one of the first fics I ever read, and when I did, I went "this is it. this is Them." The characterization is *chef's kiss.* I'm running out of new ways to compliment incredible writing help-

Pleasant Boy

This fic should be required reading for all Goroboys. No one is allowed to have an opinion on him (especially in third sem) before reading this fic. Akechi is actualized by Maruki in third sem, and Akira hates it. I love this fic so much. It heavily inspired code violet and changed the way I look at and think about Goro forever and ever I love it so much read it read it read it

Or, as I like to call it, The Akechi Fic. I legit had a major hyperfixation on this fic to the point where I read it three times in a row. It's more or less a NG+ where everyone remembers except Akechi. It is quite literally everything you could ever want from an Akechi redemption fic. After reading this I wondered if I ever needed to read another fic about him in my life because everything I ever wanted had already been delivered. when I first played vanilla p5 back in like 2018/2019-ish (I forget), he was my favorite character for a good chunk of the game. Not sure where he "ranks" now, but he is still a very fun character and his voice actor nails the role. He has one of the best persona awakening scenes as well

Haha, yeah, I really like how P5X has been exploring the potential for things that weren't really explored in the other P5 games yet! I think my favorite instance is still them answering the question of what happens if you try to enter Mementos from within a train car, rather than at the entrance to Shibuya station, in the scene where Wonder, Motoha, and Ruferu get stuck on a stopped train when they're in a hurry.

I can't tell from your ask, though, but to be clear, it's not one character that has two Shadows here, it's two characters, with their own Shadows, but both in the same Palace. It's implied that the second person's Shadow basically hijacked the first person's Palace, although as you said, we don't have the full context for it yet since we're only halfway through this chapter of the story. But I'm really looking forward to finding out!

👀 Character I hated but now loved — Would it actually be surprising to say Akechi here? LOL. I played Vanilla waaay back in the prime year of 2018 and wasn’t too satisfied with Akechi’s character at the time! I was never someone who got online and wrote manifestos as to why I disliked him or anything, I almost felt more upset by the missed potential? Thankfully, Royal came out and gave me everything I felt he lacked and then some 💚 which, of course, leads me to where I am now as a Shuake shipper LMAO so it all worked out

🤩 How’d I get into Persona? — Through my brother! He was a big P5 fan and is always recommending me stuff to play, so I gave P5 vanilla a shot on my crappy PS3 I had at the time that crashed constantly 😆 it was a super memorable experience though, I was living alone while my roommates had left college for the summer and all I did was work, go to the gym, and play P5, what a time! Ever since then I feel in love with the concept and the characters, and welp. Here I am lol

🔗 Favorite Social Link? — Akechi’s is probably my favorite (shocker, I know) not only because I love Shuake but because it’s so unique! Akechi is the one confidant in P5 that never fully warms up to you in the traditional sense. We also glean a lot about Joker’s character in Akechi’s link, moreso than many others! I just love watching his link and finding new subtle details I missed out on before about the boys. So iconic

Bonus for my second fav since the former was a cop out: Shinjiro’s from P3 💚 much like Akechi’s, this one is so good because it’s so unique. I love how his relationship with the FemC changes throughout the link, and we learn so much about him! The scene where he cooks for the whole crew always feels so bittersweet 🥹
