Phantom Pain (27)
FANDOM - MARVEL MCU
PAIRING - Bucky X Reader
WARNINGS - Bad Habits and Rough Sex, Angsty and Dark AF.
DESCRIPTION - Everybody in the world knew of you, but not who you really were. Some called you a vigilante, some called you a criminal and some called you a hero but all of them called you The Phantom.
Only two people knew your real identity and they swore to never tell anyone but when The Avengers need to infiltrate a high-security facility, Bruce Banner deduces that you’re the only one who can pull it off. That decision puts you and Bucky Barnes on a path you can’t turn back from, even if neither of like where it’s leading.

Chapter Twenty-Seven - Killer
You were dangerously close to being late for work as you hurriedly rushed down the stairs, your hair still slightly damp as you hurriedly buttoned your blouse.
Bucky had found the gym equipment you had set up where the pews had been in the original church and was making use of it. You blindly wandered towards the makeshift kitchen you’d set up, eyes transfixed on the way his abs were clenching and contacting as he did one armed pull ups on the metal bars.
Thoughts of lateness were brushed aside as you reached for the coffee pot, your fingers brushing across the hot coffee cup you had assumed was his but you didn’t take your coffee the same way and judging by the colour of the coffee, this was yours. It was such a tiny little act, almost insignificant in the grand scheme of things but the easy domesticity and thoughtfulness of it made your heart pitter pat in your chest.
You picked it up and smiled over at him, seeing that you were looking he winked and picked up the pace, showing off.
The sound of your laughter drifted over to him and the sight of you standing there, barefoot and bathed in golden light as you smiled brightly and held the coffee he’d made for you filled his chest with warmth. For so long his life had been about fighting, seventy years of conflict, pain, torture, redemption and loss. And now there was you, a woman he thought was beautiful inside and out who’d fought through your own issues just to give him a chance and you were smiling at him.
“I’m going to be late.” You said, but you weren’t moving.
“I’ll get my stuff so you can lock up your secret base behind us. Eat something, I’ll shower.” He said, dropping easily to the floor.
“You can lock up. You’re already in the system, you have the same clearance here as you do at the compound.” You told him.
He looked at you in surprise.
“Stark set this place up? Do we all have access?” He asked.
“He did, and no. It was just Bruce and Snark until a few days ago when I asked him to add you into the security system matrix or whatever it’s called.” You laughed.
“I can’t believe you ever fooled us into thinking you were a hacker.” He laughed, trying to get a handle on the growing emotions flowing through him at the knowledge you’d accepted him into your life so thoroughly.
“I’m a good liar. You should maybe, if you wanted that is, you could move some stuff here. Weapons and things I mean. It’s a good base and you might need to use it at some point.” You stammered nervously.
It was the straw that broke the camels back for Bucky. He strutted towards you like a man on a mission and you barely had time to put your coffee down safely before he descended on you, sweeping you into his arms and kissing you like his life depended on it. Ignoring the fact he was sweaty and you were freshly showered you threw your arms around him and kissed him back with as much passion as he was showing.
“I’m really really going to be late.” You said but instead of pulling away, you tightened your grip on him.
“Then you should go.” He said, not moving at all.
 “Hmm.” You agreed.
Your phone started ringing obnoxiously and your groaned, headbutting his shoulder gently and he chuckled and pulled it out of your pocket and handed it to you.
 “Yes Matt?” You answered drily.
“Your penthouse sold for the asking price, do you want me to straight ahead and transfer those funds into the Hercules Foundation?” He said without preamble.
“It’s been on the market for like five days, how did it sell…. Oh. Snark. Hold off on that for now.” You instructed.
“Ok, I also have the contracts for the new science division drawn up for you to look over and Foggy wants to go over the terminations of the government contracts with you.” He said.
“I’m on my way into the office, send Foggy over.” You sighed.
“I’ll tell him to bring a lot of coffee with him.” Matt remarked and hung up on you.
“Sounds like you’ve got your hands full.” Bucky noted.
“Yeah… I really do. Who knew dismantling a company and rebuilding it as a charity foundation would be so difficult?” You joked.
“You did, but you did it anyway. You knew it would be difficult and you decided to take it on without hesitating and you invested your personal fortune into it.” He said, not even trying to hide the admiration in his voice.
You blushed and started searching for your shoes that you knew were somewhere around. Bucky coughed to get your attention and held them out to you. You grinned and kissed him on the cheek as you grabbed them and slipped them on.
“Have a good day at work Domniţă.” He told you, chuckling as you tried to get out of the door while Frank, who’d jumped down from the rafters bit at your heels.
“I’ll see you at home tonight, take this asshole back to the compound with you?” You asked and he nodded at you.
You finally made your escape and ran for the car that was parked in an old shed, reminding yourself with every step that Foggy was heading towards your office and you couldn’t turn around.

As soon as you stepped out of the elevator you knew something was wrong. Foggy had unsurprisingly beaten you there and was stood in front of your office door, whispering into his phone, stress and concern pouring off of him.
“She’s here, gotta go.” He whispered and hung up the phone.
“Good morning!” He greeted you, a little too loud and a little too cheerfully.
 “What’s wrong?” You asked suspiciously.
“What? Nothing. Just need to go over these contracts with you.” He said.
You narrowed your eyes at him and shook your head at his odd behaviour, reaching past him to open your office door. He pushed your hand away quickly and stood in front of the handle, blocking it.
 “Foggy.” You warned.
“Let’s go get breakfast? Have you had any? Lets get a second breakfast, you know, like Hobbits? A business breakfast.” He rambled, sweating nervously.
You lost your patience and gently but firmly pushed past him and into your office. You gasped at the sight as soon as you did. The office was exactly as you had left it. Almost.
Along the wall, behind your desk there was a message.
KILLER. Written in what you hoped was red paint, above large picture of you. You saw that your eyes had been scratched out and the same red paint had been used to draw a line across your throat.
“It was here when I arrived. I called Matt, he’s on his way.” Foggy said apologetically.
“Tell him not to come.” You whispered.
Bile rose up your throat and you felt light headed. Someone had been in here, bypassing the first class security system and leaving a clear threat for you. You felt violated and though you were more than capable of taking care of yourself, there were the first stirrings of fear in your gut.
You didn’t want Bucky to find out about this, or any of The Avengers to be honest but especially Bucky. You knew with absolute certainty that he would worry, he would act over-protective and probably hunt down whoever had done this and dispose of them. You didn’t want to put him through this. You didn’t want him to feel the way you did right now.
But if you didn’t tell Bucky and he found out, he’d feel betrayed. And he’d want to be able to help you with this, you knew that. Besides, there was nobody you trusted more. So you did the smart thing and you called him.
One hour and forty minutes later one of the admins stepped out of the elevator with a pile of papers she needed you to look over and frowned.
“Miss King? Is everything alright?” She asked.
You and Foggy looked up from where you were working in the reception area of your office.
“Everything’s fine. I just have some decorators in my office at the moment.” You lied easily, holding out your hands for the papers.
As soon as the elevator doors closed with the admin inside again Bucky stepped out of your office with a stony expression.
“It’s not paint.” He said and you gulped.
“Blood?” You asked, knowing what the answer would be and he nodded.
“Do you have any idea who might have a grudge against you?” He asked, clenching his jaw.
“Plenty of people.” You said coldly.
“No, they have grudges against your father not you.” Foggy corrected.
“Well, he’s dead and I’m not.” You pointed out.
“Fear not Princess, whoever the scum was who did this we shall find and destroy them for you.” Thor boomed from the office.
 “Thanks Thor.” You called.
Thor had tagged along when Bucky had asked Loki to come. Whoever it was had snuck into a highly secure building unseen and entered a locked office without leaving a trace. The God Of Mischief was someone that Bucky wanted working this with him.
The elevator dinged again and Bucky sighed and stepped back into the office.
“Miss King, The Washington Post are calling again, so is The New Yorker.” The front desk secretary said, the poor woman looking frazzled.
“Just, tell them… I don’t know, tell them I’ll call them back tomorrow to arrange something. Tell anyone who calls the same thing and make a note and email me.” You said, sighing heavily.
“Yes Miss King.” She said and scampered back into the elevator.
“You need an assistant.” Foggy remarked as Bucky came back out of the office.
Bucky had said the same thing last night. You needed your own Pepper Potts.
“That’s it, all other business is being pushed back until I can find an assistant. Or three.” You remarked, thinking about just how much work you had to get through.
“Princess! If you require assistance I know of someone who can help you!” Thor yelled, practically bounding out of the office.
“You? You know someone?” You asked in befuddlement.
“A dear friend of mine who is experienced in assisting other with such matters and she recently told me she wants to move back to New York now that Jane has a new job in Germany. She is most trustworthy.” Thor assured.
“Sure, what the hell. She’s hired.” You shrugged throwing your hands up in exasperation.
“As your lawyer I advise that you should probably get her name and do an Interview.” Foggy said nervously, unable to take his eyes off of Thor.
“It’s fine, I trust Thor.” You said.
“A horrible decision.” Loki called from inside the office.
Thor smiled brightly and took your hand in his much larger one.
“I believe you and Lady Darcy will get along, she is a woman of the same calibre as yourself.” Thor assured.
“So she’s a manipulative, sassy genius? I love her already.” You decided.
“I can find no signs of magical tampering.” Loki announced, joining the rest of you in the reception.
“I combed through the security footage, there was nothing out of the ordinary. There was no signs of a break in on the office door or windows.” Bucky told you, looking put out and more than a little furious.
“So whoever it was just walked through the wall?” You asked, sighing heavily.
“It would appear so.” Loki said, looking at you curiously.
“I need to talk to you.” You said to Bucky and he nodded, looking around for somewhere other than the office to take you.
“Come on.” You said, stomping into the office.
You were not going to be chased out of your own space by whoever it was.
“What is it?” He asked, closing the door behind him.
You didn’t answer right away, too busy staring at the mutilated picture of yourself until Bucky stood in front of it with a growl of anger.
“My fa… Alexander King… the fake… I’m just going to refer to him as The Imposter. The Imposter didn’t know I was the Phantom Bucky. He was surprised by it. I think there’s another Phantom and I think they were hunting him and now that he’s dead, they’ve moved onto me.” You admitted.
 “Another Phantom?”
“Yes. I don’t think I was the first person to go into that Chamber.” You said.
He pulled something from under his shirt and handed it to you. It was the same Vibranium Knife that The Imposter had tried to kill you with.
“You don’t go anywhere without this.” Bucky instructed as you tentatively took it from him.
 You reluctantly nodded.
“There’s something else, something I have to tell you.” Bucky said.
“God, what now?” You asked in trepidation.
He smirked and yanked you forward, into his chest.
“I made us dinner reservations for tonight. That is, if you’ll agree to go on a date with me Domniţă?”
You smiled up at him as he tried to mask the nervous look in his eyes behind a charming grin.
“Bucky… every reason I had for closing myself off turned out to be fake. My whole life has been one big conspiracy. It’s all secrets and lies. Except you. You’re the only thing that’s safe and the only things that’s certain.” You told him, reaching up onto your tiptoes to kiss him.
“Is that a yes?” He checked.
“That’s an absolutely, of course, I would love nothing more.” You promised.

ACITW AU -Here’s what the fuck is left
I’ve had it with this fic. And I’ve had it with this fandom. I really have. Why I continue to write for it, I don’t know. The fact that I’ve been insulted up the ying yang, called names, dirt, threatened, and otherwise intimidated (tried) by you all doesn’t seem to matter. The fact that what I have written so far has more words than the original doesn’t matter. The fact that when I started this, I was going so far as to email chapters to people individually per request, drop them in inboxes on tumblr didn’t matter. Those chapters still went un reviewed, uncommented on. There have been many lovely people who have supported me, but the majority have been real rats. You don’t support my other work. You couldn’t care less. All that matters is ACITW AU. You want to talk about me, and my effort, as if I’m some lout who doesn’t want to fulfill her promises because y’all are sucking your thumbs singing, “A drop in the ocean ... a change in the weather ... “ Here you go. I’m putting up what I have, unfinished, chapter by chapter. Why? Because I’m an old lady with health issues and I COULDN’T CARE LESS! Most of y’all didn’t like my version anyway. So here’s the end of it. Have fun!
“Who in the world needs three trousseaus?” Sebastian moans, trudging behind his boyfriend and his sister through, what Olivia obnoxiously referred to as “the hallowed halls of Carolina Premium Outlets”. Kurt was surprised that a woman with the financial means of Olivia Smythe would opt to shop at an outlet mall instead of all the other upscale clothing stores within a hundred mile radius, but it also made him adore her even more.
“I do,” Olivia says, grabbing Kurt’s hand and bolting towards Talbots, as if trying to outrun her brother’s cynicism and sour attitude. “Now, hurry up! We’ve got seven more stores to hit.
“Why bother?” Sebastian grabs for Kurt’s other hand, frowning when his hand closes around air. “I think you’ve bought every white outfit in this place.”
“Hmph. You can never have too much white,” Olivia tosses over her shoulder, smirking when she notices her brother’s ineffectual attempts at retrieving his boyfriend.
“Should you even be wearing white at this wedding?” Sebastian retaliates. “I mean, isn’t white reserved for the virtuous?”
Olivia and Kurt stop speed-walking. Olivia gasps, and Kurt wraps an arm around her, carefully shielding her ears with his hands.
“That’s a low blow,” he says.
“Yeah. And besides, if I was worried about a higher power sending lightning down to smote the impure, I wouldn’t have invited you or Julian. Between the two of you, you could set the entire place on fire.”
Kurt feels guilty spending money, but since he has this new plan to put into action, he breaks down and buys a shirt or two.
“You know, you should just go crazy,” Sebastian says. “It’s all good. I’ll pick up the tab.”
“I don’t want you spending money on me.”
“Why not? I have it to spend.” Sebastian playfully bumps Kurt’s hip. “What’s a couple thousand between boyfriends? Besides, I like the idea of spoiling you.” He leans down close to Kurt’s ear and whispers, “If you want, I can take it out of what I owe you.”
Those words, in contrast to the heat of Sebastian’s breath, make Kurt’s skin cold. It’s just a joke. Sebastian is teasing. And Kurt should be happy that he feels free to tease him about this. Things are slowly coming out in the open, people are finding out about their ruse, and they don’t care, because in the end, the two of them fell in love.
It may not mean anything to Sebastian. It shouldn’t mean anything to Kurt. So why does it?
Kurt sees pic text from his dad; can’t open pic for some reason
“Oh, can I see those pictures now?” Olivia asks, looking over Kurt’s shoulder. “From the hot air balloon ride you guys took?”
“Oh, yeah,” Kurt says, slightly distracted by this new issue with his phone. “Let me just …”
“What’s going on there, babe? Forgot how to use your phone? I mean, you haven’t really been using it the past week. I can see how you might have forgotten.”
“It’s not that,” Kurt says, not even surprised anymore by how easy it is to simply bypass Sebastian’s humor and see the real message inside. “This has happened to me a few times before. It won’t let me access my photo gallery.”
“I should really upgrade your phone,” Sebastian says offhandedly.
“My phone’s fine, Bas,” Kurt says, more annoyed at his phone than he is at his boyfriend.
“Well, I don’t want your wack ass service to go out when I need to get a hold of you. What if we’re sexting and your phone drops the signal?”
“It’s not the service,” Kurt grumbles, then gives up, accessing Facebook for the photos instead. “It’s the phone.”
“Ergo why I should upgrade it.”
“Grr,” Kurt groans, not bothering to glare at Sebastian since he realizes he just made his point for him. Yes, it would be nice to have a new phone. This one’s been giving him grief for a while. But, it still works, and it’s decent. Why toss something away just because it’s temperamental and frustrating? By that logic, he should break up with Sebastian. He laughs out loud when that conclusion pops in his head.
“Okay,” Kurt says with satisfaction as his Facebook page pops on to the screen, “here’s the one at holy shit!”
“Holy shit?” Olivia repeats.
“I don’t remember us going there,” Sebastian says, crowding, along with Olivia, around Kurt, and looking at his phone. The first photo that comes up is the exact photo that Kurt wanted – the two of them kissing in the basket of that hot air balloon, with the caption he wrote Love Defies Gravity. That’s not the issue. The issue is:
“Seen by … 1,452 people!?”
Even Sebastian gasps when Kurt reads it, and the four of them stop walking.
“That’s … a lot of people,” Brian comments.
It’s not just the seen by list that makes Kurt’s jaw drop, but the comments, only the first four displayed, but when he clicks the View more comments hyperlink, they shoot down his screen.
Kurt scans the list of names quickly, noting that pretty much every member of the New Directions has not only seen the pictures, but has had something positive to say, and that makes Kurt giddy with happiness and relief. Not that their disapproval would have had any influence over whether Kurt stayed with Sebastian or not. He doesn’t need a single one of his friends to approve of what they have to know that it’s what he wants. It’s just nice to know that his friends are happy for him regardless…even Rachel Berry, who has left him a string of heart emojis and the almost impossible to believe comment – I’m so sorry. About everything. Call me soon. I want to talk about this.
Kurt doesn’t read each name one by one, so he doesn’t see one name in particular at the way bottom.
One of the first people to see the photograph, even though they didn’t leave a comment.
They couldn’t bring themselves to.
And had Kurt looked at all of the other photographs that he’s uploaded while he’s been at the beach house – the ones he took of the ocean view from Sebastian’s room, the selfie he took with Sebastian on the porch swing, and the one he took of Sebastian asleep in bed – he would have seen that one person had already seen each and every one of them.
Blaine Anderson.
Converses with Rachel (who apologizes)
Finds out about how Seb knew about the coffee (from Mercedes) and the single ladies video (from Brittany)
Kurt wonders if Sebastian knows, the way he seems to know about everything, that forehead kisses are one of Kurt’s hidden weaknesses? Blaine could never quite pull it off the way Sebastian does. Kurt would always have to tilt his head a bit for Blaine to reach. But Sebastian doesn’t, and that little item makes a world of difference.
Several times on the car ride home, Kurt tries to download the message. He waits while an icon circles around, around, around, but all he gets back is the error message, “File not available for download.”
“Shoot! But why aren’t you available for download?” Kurt asks.
The phone doesn’t answer, but Sebastian does.
“Because I’m a shit phone, Kurt. Let your sexy boyfriend upgrade me.”
“Shut it, Smythe,” Kurt says and raises the volume on the radio.
Kurt decides to do a hard reboot.
To Kurt:
Call me as soon as you can. We really need to talk.
Along with that ominous message his father sent a picture – a photo of an envelope, the return address, NYADA, specifically the financial aid department. And across the bottom of the envelope, where Kurt has gotten used to seeing the words AMOUNT DUE are stamped the words FINAL NOTICE.
Kurt swallows hard. No, he thinks. Not now. Not when I’m here, in this sanctuary, when nothing bad can touch me, still trying to sort things out. Not when I don’t have a clue how to fix this, where to even start.
But maybe that’s the rub. Maybe he was never meant to figure this problem out. Maybe his acceptance to NYADA was something he was meant to lose, like Blaine. Just another part of his life he arrogantly thought was a sure thing, something he didn’t bother worrying about once he’d gotten it, slipping through his fingers.
“Hey. You figured your phone out.”
“Yeah,” Kurt says, quickly closing the text. “I just turned it off and turned it back on again. Worked like a charm.”
Sebastian looks his boyfriend over, but most particularly his smile - two-dimensional, not doing its usual job of lighting his eyes - and starts to worry. “What did your dad have to say? Nothing bad, right? He’s not … he’s not sick or anything?”
“No. No, he’s fine. He just got home, I guess.” Kurt tries to stuff the phone in his pocket, but his numb fingers refuse to move.
“You know” – Sebastian sits beside Kurt, his eyes on the phone that Kurt tucks out of sight – “I never did ask you what you needed $10,000 for. I mean, did you pick that number out of the air at random? Or was that what you thought dating me was worth, because, if that’s the case, then frankly I think you sold one of us short.”
Kurt nods tersely but doesn’t answer. He can’t. He’s paralyzed. Now is definitely the time to own up to something, but what? To his old plan of needing the money to go to NYADA? Or this new plan of moving wherever Sebastian is going that he’s become recently attached to? He knows he’ll tell Sebastian both, but which one takes precedence? If emotion weren’t entering in to it at all, if he wasn’t still slightly confused about this relationship with Sebastian, than the answer would be NYADA, definitely. And even as that new plan, glimmering in his head, is tickling his lips to make its way out, he knows the answer is NYADA, no matter what, above all.
Sebastian puts an arm around Kurt’s shoulder and pulls him against him as he reclines. He pushes off the porch with his feet and starts the swing rocking its soothing rhythm.
“Originally I thought it was so you could buy yourself a new wardrobe,” Sebastian continues, hoping to get Kurt relaxed enough to spill, “and I have to say, I was all for that. Hell, I was going to up it to $50,000 and just take you shopping myself. Make sure you got your money’s worth.” Sebastian waits for a comeback, a snide remark, anything. But when Kurt remains quiet, Sebastian kisses his head. “Talk to me, babe. Tell me what’s going on.”
Kurt sighs. He can’t put this off any longer. Putting it off, coming up with some excuse not to talk about it, would feel like lying, and he doesn’t want to lie to Sebastian.
“It’s for … it was for college. NYADA.” God, he isn’t prepared to admit this. Not yet. Even after the time he’s given himself, he’d never wanted to admit to any of this out loud. That was worse than not having the money, so he’d been doing everything in his power not to. “I had gotten some scholarships and some financial aid, but I was approved before my father was elected to Congress.” Kurt hears Sebastian sigh, and he knows he can fill in the rest, but Kurt feels like he has to keep going. “It never dawned on me to call and update them, but they found out on their own anyway. They readjusted my aid and, in the end, I came up short. Without that money, I … I can’t go to college.”
Sebastian sighs again, but instead of sounding frustrated, this sigh sounds hurt. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because it doesn’t matter, Sebastian. I can’t take that money now. Not after …”
“Stop, Kurt,” Sebastian says, reaching for his wallet. “Just … just stop.” He pulls out a piece of paper, folded once, and hands it to Kurt. At first, Kurt has no idea what it could be, though he has a nagging suspicion. But that suspicion can’t be correct! It would be ludicrous if it were.
But since ludicrous seems like par for the course this summer, it’s exactly what Kurt thinks it is – a cashier’s check for $10,000, made out to Kurt Hummel, dated the day after Kurt agreed to their boyfriend arrangement. And even though Kurt is teetering on the brink of incredulity, he has to smirk at the comment Sebastian had the bank print in the memo line – For services rendered. Bow-chicka-bow-wow.
“You’ve … you’ve been carrying this around with you this whole time?”
“Well, yeah.” Sebastian shrugs. “Regardless of what you see on TV, you can’t just write a personal check for ten grand. And I had every intention of keeping up my end of the bargain so …”
“Thank you, but … but I … I can’t,” Kurt says, those words killing him, driving nails into his heart and twisting, as he stares at this check, made out for more than he needs and his name in the pay to the order of line. It’s the answer to all of his prayers, but for the sake of his conscience, he has to turn it down. Goddamned conscience! Fuck you! “That’s very generous of you, but …”
“We had a deal, Kurt,” Sebastian interrupts. “You more than held up your end. In fact, I would say you went above and beyond, considering.”
Kurt nods. Objectively, he has to agree, but the way Sebastian chose to phrase it makes him feel sick. Plus, and he doesn’t know why, he feels offended. He doesn’t know what he expected Sebastian to say about the matter. He’d prepared himself for Sebastian to give him the money. He’d prepared to refuse and for the two of them to fight over it. But instead of indignant, he feels insulted.
“Then … then what does that make us? What does that make this? Everything we’ve done so far?”
“It makes it what it is, Kurt,” Sebastian says, throwing an arm in the air. “I love you, and you love me. And this …” He gestures to the check in Kurt’s hands like it’s an annoying fly he’s shooing away. “This is ancient history. Tying up loose ends.” Kurt starts shaking his head. It’s a reflex to object. This doesn’t seem right. It doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that boyfriends did for one another. It’s too much.
Sebastian, facing down his obstinate boyfriend, groans. “Kurt! Are you really going to throw your dreams away, your entire future, for something as stupid as money?”
“Well, you can call money stupid,” Kurt argues, his hand holding the check shaking. “You have it, alright? But when you don’t have it, it’s not stupid! It’s actually kind of important!”
“You’re right,” Sebastian agrees. “You’re absolutely right. It is important. It’s important, and you need it. You need it to go to college. So why the fuck aren’t you taking it, Kurt? I’m fortunate. I happen to have more money than I can use, sitting around, doing nothing, so let me give you some …” Kurt scoffs and rolls his head away, and Sebastian amends his statement. “Or lend you some, or however you want to do this. Remember when I said that money doesn’t matter to me beyond enjoying all the things my wealth can buy me? Well, I would enjoy the opportunity to do this for you. Look, if you don’t take it, I’m just going to send it to fucking NYADA with your name plastered all over it, so you might as well stop being so fucking stubborn and do it your damn self! If you and I hadn’t gotten together for real, if we hadn’t fallen in love, you’d be taking this check, conscience clear, and on your way to New York. But we lucked out, Kurt. We got something better out of this in the end, and being able to call you mine is worth the world to me. But if it causes you to give up your dream, Kurt, then it’s a bad thing. I don’t want what we have to be a bad thing. I want it to be a good thing. I want it to grow and last, and that will only happen if you live out your life. If you follow your dream.”
Sebastian takes the check from Kurt’s fingers. He folds it, and slides it in Kurt’s pocket. Kurt doesn’t move to object. He can’t. What Sebastian says makes sense to him logically. It’s his pride that has a problem with it. This isn’t the end. Sebastian isn’t Blaine. He isn’t just going to let go of Kurt because they’re going to schools in separate states. Kurt is finally seeing an ending to all of this where he gets to have it all – the school of his dreams, the future he planned, and the boy he never planned on. This wouldn’t be a loan, he promises himself. He’ll pay back every single cent somehow, even if it takes him a lifetime.
“You’re going to NYADA, Kurt,” Sebastian says, kissing Kurt on the forehead between words, “one way or another. And there’s not a force anywhere on earth that’s going to keep me from making sure you get there.”
 ***
They go horseback riding.
Sebastian shows Kurt a secret overlook.
“You know, if I wasn’t here, seeing it for myself, I don’t think I would ever believe any of this about you.”
Sebastian looks like he’s about to get offended, then says, “I guess I didn’t really give you the chance to find out for yourself.”
(Kurt starts thinking that Charlottes throwing him looks.)
“Sebastian says you have quite a fondness for this old swing. You know, before you, he’d never come out here. Ever. You would think he was afraid of heights or something the way he avoided it, and my son is definitely not afraid of heights.”
“How did you figure us out?”
“Because whether they like it or not, I know my children, and to be honest, because he’s my youngest, I probably know Sebastian most of all.”
“Kurt, I’ve walked in on my son mid-coitus more times than any mother should, and what I saw when I walking in on the two of you…that wasn’t my Sebastian. Not the one I had seen torturing himself with boys and men for years. The laughing, the smiling, that was different. It was honest – real. It’s what I’ve wanted for him for longer than I can tell you.”
“You raise your kids the best you can in the hopes that they can make the right decisions on their own. I may not agree with all of the decisions my children have made, but they’re their decisions to make. I can’t micromanage their lives. I have to trust them.”
“Well, for what it’s worth, I think you guys did an amazing job.”
“Thank you, Kurt.”
 ***
Kurt began to notice that those long conversations that Julian used to have with Cooper seemed to be less and less. He remembers that their relationship has always been a volatile one, but Julian seemed so happy when he first arrived. Kurt hoped that their flame hadn’t burned out so quickly.
“Hey, why don’t you take a picture? It lasts longer? In fact, I have a few I can just text you, if you want to take a peek…”
“So, what are you guys doing later on? I mean, between the sex, and more sex.”
“Have they been having a lot of sex?” Olivia asks.
“As far as I can tell. I don’t know, I haven’t been watching.”
“Yeah, right.”
“Here. I was gonna take Cooper, but he hasn’t called me yet. Anyway, no reason for them to go to waste.”
“It’s great, except, this chic keeps elbowing me in the ribs, and she has really sharp elbows!”
Sebastian looks over their heads towards the stage. He must see someone because his eyes light up, and he waves. Then he nods, and takes Kurt’s hand.
“Come on. Maybe I can fix that.”
 “Hey, Viola.”
“Hey, Sebastian. Long time, no see.”
“Well, I’ve got a good reason. This is my boyfriend, Kurt.”
“Very nice,” she says, giving Sebastian an approving wink. “So, you guys through mixing with the rabble.”
“Absolutely.”
“Well, you guys are welcome to hang here for the rest of the concert. And here…” she reaches into her pocket and pulls out two stickers, taking the liberty of affixing one to each boys’ thigh before Kurt can complain about adhesive on his Gucci jeans. “These’ll get you back stage after.”
“Thanks.”
“Anytime.”
“Of course, you would know the manager of a big name band.”
“No, Julian does. I just know Julian…unfortunately.”
“And that’s apparently enough,” Kurt chuckles. “I would have thought you’d be just as famous. You know, your name and number written on bathroom walls from here to the space station.”
Sebastian’s expression changes – becomes tight, a little muddled, sort of like every default expression he has is scrolling by on his face, trying to land on an appropriate one. When he can’t seem to settle, he shoves his hands in his pockets and looks down at his shoes, still trying to choose.
Kurt doesn’t know why, but he feels like he needs to apologize. “I’m sorry. I…insulted you.”
“It’s not that,” Sebastian says, shaking his head with a look in his eyes like even he’s trying to make himself believe that that’s not what he feels. “It’s just…” Kurt watches Sebastian’s lips…lips that were kissing him not moments before, warm with just an underlying hint of beer, now trapped between words. “I’m not ashamed of who I am, and…I’m not going to apologize for who I was, but…I don’t want you to look at me and see the Whore of Babylon.”
Kurt wants to tell him that he doesn’t. It’s simply a fall back joke. The two of them have tons of them. It’s not even one of the crueler ones as far as Kurt is concerned. It’s never bothered Sebastian befo---
No. Actually, Kurt can’t say that. It bothered Sebastian when Julian calls him that.
“Who do you want to be?”
Sebastian loops his arms around Kurt’s waist
“I want to be yours. Just…your man. Kurt Hummel’s boyfriend, and that’s all.”
“Just Kurt Hummel’s boyfriend?”
“Well, Kurt Hummel’s sexy ass boyfriend.”
“I’ll look into having a shirt printed up.”
 ***
“Okay, so that’s Ursa Major,” Sebastian says, pointing to a series of stars up and to the left above their heads. “And that’s Ursa Minor. And that over there, that’ Orion’s Belt.”
Kurt turns his head from where it rests on the windshield of Sebastian’s Mustang, both boys staring up at the night sky from where they lie on the car’s hood.
“Really?” Kurt asks, partly impressed, partially skeptical.
“How the fuck should I know?” Sebastian asks while Kurt laughs. “They’re all stars,” he says, waving his hand towards the clear night sky. “That’s just what guys do when they look up at the sky, they identify shit.”
“Damn, and I was all impressed,” Kurt says. “And you know, smart guys get me hot.”
“Actually, I do know a few of them. “
“Ah,” Sebastian says, sliding over closer, “luckily, I have an app for that.” Sebastian reaches into his pocket and pulls out his iPhone. He sweeps his finger over the screen, looking through his apps until he finds the one he’s looking for. He raises his phone and takes a shot of the night sky.
Sex in the car in the rain.
“Have you guys seen Julian?”
“No. We’ve been out looking at the stars.”
“So, no phone calls or anything?”
“No. Why?”
“Because, we can’t find him. He’s gone.”
***
“I even called the house,” Julian says, staring ahead of him with blank eyes, talking sotto voce, as if the two of them aren't standing there beside him, listening to every word. “Emily says he just…he just left. He didn’t pack a bag, didn’t tell anyone where he was going...just pfft. Gone.”
“Julian, I'm...I’m so sorry,” Kurt says sincerely, his heart sinking when that light that always lingers in Julian's eyes, the one that blazes hot behind the ice blue of his irises, starts to burn low, threatening to go out.
“So many secrets,” Julian says, shaking his head, looking down at his phone clutched in his hand as if any moment it might spring to life with a call or a text. “We’re so good at keeping secrets, aren’t we, Sebby?”
Kurt feels Sebastian go rigid beside him.
“Julian…”
Kurt has heard Sebastian say his brother’s name dozens of times, and as many different ways.
He’s said it jokingly.
He’s said it seriously.
He’s spat it like a curse.
He’s said it with affection.
But this was a plea.
He was begging Julian to stop.
“We keep secrets from mom and dad," Julian continues, again to himself as if they aren't there, "secrets from Liv, hell, the two of you kept the biggest secret of all…you even had me duped, though, apparently that isn't as hard as I thought.”
Julian laughs, sad and hollow, until it becomes a cough.
“Julian…” Sebastian repeats his plea softer, subconsciously searching for and taking Kurt's hand. He squeezes it tight and Kurt can't help noticing how it shakes.
Julian looks at his brother with a wry smirk, lifting the shot glass in is fist in an unspoken toast and downing it in a single gulp.
“Now why haven’t you told him yet, Sebby? You know it wasn’t your fault. At least, if you do, he’ll know exactly how much of a bastard I really am.”
Kurt’s eyes meet Sebastian’s, but Sebastian isn’t looking at him. He looks frozen. Numb.
“Come on, Sebby,” Julian says with tears burning in his eyes, “you love him. He loves you. He should know, dontcha think?”
Sebastian stands paralyzed, his mouth agape, unable to breathe a single word. Whatever Sebastian hasn’t told Kurt yet, whatever this pain is that the two of them hold on to, that the two of them share, Julian is getting ready to spill it. Kurt won't deny that he wants to know - he wants to help - but this is not how Kurt wants to find out. Not like this.
“Julian, no,” Kurt says, even though he’s sure what he’s saying no to is the one thing he’s wanted to know all summer.
“No, Kurt, it’s my story, too, and I need you to forgive me because what I did made this…” He flicks a finger between Kurt and Sebastian “…so much harder for you.”
“It’s fine,” Kurt says in a thick voice, “truly. I…I forgive you, it’s…”
Julian shakes his head. “Don’t, Kurt. You don’t understand how bad I hurt him…”
“Julian,” Kurt says firmly, putting his free hand on Julian’s knee and squeezing, trying to get through his haze of whiskey and self-pity, “please, stop. I don’t need to know.”
“Yes,” Sebastian agrees quietly behind him. “Yes, you do.”
Kurt turns to look at his boyfriend, expecting him to be looking away, off in the distance like Julian, or maybe down at his shoes, but he’s looking right at Kurt instead.
Kurt slowly shakes his head.
This time, it's Kurt's turn to plead.
"Sebastian..."
“That’s the spirit, baby brother,” Julian cuts in, taking his next shot off the bar and passing it over to Sebastian. Kurt watches Sebastian sadly put the shot glass to his lips, snap his head back, and down the drink, a single tear racing down his cheek and getting lost in his hair. “Let’s tell our story together.”
“There was this guy. Seb fell so hard for him, so fast. He called Seb all sorts of cutesy nicknames. They were so adorable together. Frankly, it made me kind of sick. I wanted to help Sebby land this boy, so I got them some fake IDs, and I took them out drinking.”
“It might have been love,” Julian says. “Was it? I don’t know. It could have been.”
“But right before we went out, I got into a fight with Cooper, and I was an asshole. So, I got them both drunk, and then I seduced this poor boy of Seb’s.”
“Well, Sebby, he got mad, had one too many to drink. He got real sick and went to the bathroom, and while he was in there, there was some guy.”
“Don’t…stop…” Kurt shakes his head.
“No,” Sebastian says quietly, “let him finish.”
“When I got to them,” Julian squeezes his eyes shut, tears leaking out the sides, “he had Sebastian pinned between the sinks, had his pants unzipped and his hand down them, he was trying to kiss him, kept saying…kept saying that he wanted to taste himself on Seb’s lips.”
“So…so, he…”
“Yeah. Big brother charged to the rescue about a minute too late.”
“Oh…oh God.”
“So that’s the story of how big bad Julian forced his baby brother away.”
 ***
“But, as soon as I can, I’ll drive up and meet you. We’ll have that big house all to ourselves. Who knows what kind of mischief we can get ourselves into?”
“What sounds like a…”
Sitting on the steps to Kurt’s patio is Cooper. And beside him, curled into a ball, hugging his knees, is Blaine.
Kurt thinks he should feel an overwhelming tide of emotion. That it should knock him back about twenty feet, transport him through time to a place where he swore he would always love Blaine. But what he felt was barely a swell. The boy who used to be perfection by Kurt’s standards was riddled with flaws. Kurt found himself comparing Blaine to Sebastian the way he used to compare Sebastian to Blaine, but this time Blaine was the one didn’t measure up.
“Maybe you should go check on Julian.”
“So, what, you owe it to him to hear his side?”
“No. He owes it to me to tell me why he took everything and through it all away.”
Kurt hands him the check.
“Wh---why are you…?”
“This way, when I come back, you’ll know it’s not because of obligation. It’s not because of the money. It’s because I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you, and nothing he can say is going to change that. Have a little faith in me.”
***
·         Kurt rips up Seb’s check so he’ll know he’s not coming back because of the money
·         Kurt drives Blaine home
·         Kurt figures out that Blaine met his friend on Facebook before camp
·         Mr. Anderson tells Kurt how he planned to get Blaine away from Kurt
·         Burt tells Kurt he paid the $10k
“You know, I always wondered…when you drove away, you had this look in your eyes. It’s haunted me. You knew. Before you left, you knew you were going to hookup with someone, didn’t you?”
“I met him on the camp’s Facebook page.”
“It’s love! It’s supposed to mean everything. It’s not the kind of thing you can dump and pick up again when it’s convenient. That’s not how it works!”
“I know I was with someone!” Blaine said, shocking even himself with the volume of his voice. “I know I did! I know I hurt you, and I’m sorry! I didn’t mean for it to happen, but it did. I had every intention of coming back to you, of moving to New York with you, of living happily ever after with you! But I didn’t ruin that, Kurt! You did! You did because what you did was way worse!”
“What? What did I do that was way worse?”
“You….you fell in love.”
“What do you expect me to do?”
“I expect you to grow up. I expect you to learn from this. I expect you to accept that it’s over, and maybe, in time, we might actually be able to stay friends.”
“I will never forgive you for this.”
Kurt wants to ask him, “Did you think of me at all when he kissed you? When you were fucking him or he was fucking you, did you almost say my name? Was my smell still on your clothes, or did you make sure to wash it completely away?”
“Look, we loved each other, so much. But we’re so young, so immature, made so many bad choices…” Kurt says that word we, we, we over and over even though he doesn’t entirely mean it. But he doesn’t feel right saying what he wants to say - you did this. You ruined it. You made a bad decision. Because deep down, there’s a part of Kurt that’s culpable. He let Blaine make that decision instead of taking ownership of his own feelings. He let Blaine command the conversation when he had so much more to say. Blaine controlled how they communicated, even with their mutual friends, but Kurt went along with it. The best he can do now is try to leave the hurt feelings in the past and let it go - not necessarily for Blaine. Not to make Blaine feel better. But so that Kurt can walk away with his head held high, into a future that he deserves…with someone he loves. “Let’s just…remember that, and part as friends. Good friends.” Blaine drops his head and looks off to the side, like he’s already turned his back on the conversation. "Maybe we weren’t meant to be together,“ Kurt continues, "but that’s not a horrible thing. It’s not going to…not going to kill us.”
Funny, since that’s how Kurt felt for the first month at least, but now he sees how ludicrous that was. He’s young. They’re both young. And this, too, shall pass.
Kurt waits for Blaine to speak - to agree, to argue, to try and win him back, to sing - but he says nothing. Just stares at the carpet beneath his feet, putting Kurt’s words together…or maybe shoving them away.
Kurt sighs, putting a hand to his aching forehead. Too much drama and too little sleep. He doesn’t need this right now. What he does need…or correction…who he needs, is driving back to Westerville this very moment, and all Kurt wants is to be with him.
Why did he offer to drive Blaine home again?
Kurt looks at the boy in front of him - the boy he pined over, the boy he obsessed over, the boy he loved, for a while, more than he loved himself.
But that was over. Now, he has someone else in his life he needs to return to.
Kurt stares at Blaine, but Blaine’s eyes shift to stare at his hands, as if they somehow hold the key to changing Kurt’s mind, but Kurt isn’t about to wait.
‘If I leave now,’ he thinks, 'I can get there only twenty minutes after he does.’
"Good-bye, Blaine,” Kurt says quietly. He doesn’t reach a hand out to hold him, to hug him, to give him any comfort.
That’s not what their 'relationship' is anymore.
Kurt turns and walks toward Blaine’s bedroom door when he hears Blaine’s voice, shaking with rage, maybe some embarrassment, and thick with tears, talking to his back.
“I…am never…going to forgive you for this, Kurt,” he says, sniffling through gritted teeth. “Never.”
It’s a harsh sound, Blaine’s voice. One Kurt had only heard once before - when Blaine fought off Dave Karofsky in the halls of McKinley on the night they went to watch the New Directions perform.
When he fought Dave off to defend Kurt.
Now that anger is directed at Kurt, and it makes Kurt’s blood run cold.
It zaps any sympathy he might have had for Blaine straight from his body.
He can’t even turn to look at him when he gives him an answer.
“Good,” Kurt says, barely turning over his shoulder so that Blaine can hear him clearly. “Now you know how I felt most of this summer.”
“So, does this mean you’re finally gone for good?”
“What does that mean?”
“I was never too thrilled with Blaine dating you. The idea of you became more palatable when you became a congressman’s son.”
“Palatable?”
***
“Cambridge, huh. No chance he’s talking about Massachusetts?”
“No.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I only found out before we left for North Carolina, and I haven’t even decided whether or not I want to go.”
“I’m not Blaine. I’m not stupid. I want to be with you, and I have no intention of letting you go so easily. Please…have a little faith in me. Please. Just this once. Alright?” ”
But Sebastian doesn’t go to Cambridge. He goes to NYU.
“Do you miss me yet?”
“No.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“Yes, I miss you. Of course, I miss you.”
“You gonna show me how much?”
“What, like on Skype or something.”
“Or something.”

How I Socially Engineer Myself Into High Security Facilities
Sophie Daniel, Motherboard, Oct 20 2017
Hello! My name is Sophie and I break into buildings. I get paid to think like a criminal.
Organizations hire me to evaluate their security, which I do by seeing if I can bypass it. During tests I get to do some lockpicking, climb over walls or hop barbed wire fences. I get to go dumpster diving and play with all sorts of cool gadgets that Q would be proud of.
But usually, I use what is called social engineering to convince the employees to let me in. Sometimes I use email or phone calls to pretend to be someone I am not. Most often I get to approach people in-person and give them the confidence to let me in.
A few months ago, a client had hired me to test two of their facilities. A manufacturing plant, plus data center and office building nearby.
First step: open source intelligence, or OSINT. I look at maps, satellite images, study what I can of their delivery and supply schedules, and so on.
The manufacturing facility looked like a prison. No windows, heavy iron gates, no landscaping. Generally a monstrosity of architecture.
This facility had armed guards, badge readers, biometric security controls and turnstiles at every entrance.
The chances of tailgating (following behind an employee with valid credentials) into this building were next to non-existent.
I was going to have to get down and dirty with my social engineering.
First stop: LinkedIn. Your LinkedIn is my best friend. The more information you have on your LinkedIn, the more options I have.
I have several fake LinkedIn profiles that you are probably connected to.
I scour profiles of employees who work at these facilities, and cross-reference them to other social media sites. And I find a lovely young woman who I’m going to call Mary.
Mary was a brand-new hire working as an assistant at the manufacturing facility. Mary had a public Facebook account too.
On Mary’s public Facebook account, she documented all of her family’s adventures.
Side note: Now I know where Mary went to high school, her mother’s maiden name, the names of her pets, etc.
Answers to those “security questions” you use to reset your passwords are very easy to find if you aren’t careful with that information.
Not to mention that now I know where Mary works, where her kids go to school, where they vacation…I could go on. Scary stuff.
This is not an advanced investigation. I’m not a private investigator and I don’t have the resources of the NSA. But I can do a lot of damage with simple methods.
Most notably to me, there were photos Mary posted of her time volunteering with a certain maternity support center.
Her passion for children and caring new moms was very plain. So of course, I took advantage of it.
For this assessment I played two roles. For the first, I spoofed my phone number to make it look like it was coming from the company’s headquarters.
I called the front desk of the manufacturing facility and was transferred to Mary. “Hi Mary!” I said, “My name is Barbara.”
“I am a project coordinator with facilities management. We are renovating a few of our facilities. We are sending an interior designer out to you tomorrow so she can put together proposals to update your space!”
Mary replied, “Well that’s great! But why the short notice?” I could feel her getting suspicious, so I pulled out my trump card…
*Sigh* “Well Mary… You really should have heard from me sooner. I’ve just been so overloaded at work…I feel like I can’t catch up, and to top it off the baby is due in 6 weeks. If my boss finds out I messed this up he’s going to flip.”
I was really getting into this, voice shaking. (Yes, I know, I’m a terrible human being.)
She cut me off, “Oh hunny, hunny it’s ok. We will work this out! Tell me about the baby! Is it your first? Boy or girl?!”
Our Mary was committed at this point. Not because she is stupid, but because she is a good person. She wanted to help me.
We talked babies and birth plans for a while (never pick a pretext you can’t speak about at length.)
Mary took down the name of the “designer” who was coming by the next day and we said our goodbyes. Mary could have saved her company a lot of heartache by simply verifying that I was who I claimed to be. (Just to be clear here, I would never give out Mary’s real identity. I’m not totally heartless. This could have happened to anyone. She has not been fired.)
I showed up the next day as “Claire” with a fictional architecture firm that I had made business cards and a website for. My alter-ego Barb had done most of the leg work for me. When I arrived, Mary and her boss were waiting for me with smiles. I shook hands all around and handed them the business card I printed out the night before. I was given a visitor badge and the red carpet was rolled out.
I gained rapport with the staff there by asking them to tell me what they wanted in an office space. They were so excited. I might have claimed to be on the team that put together the Google offices…
“You want a standing desk? New chairs over here?! Ergonomic keyboards for everyone! Let’s look at swatches!”
We became best buds. I was given complete and unaccompanied access to the facility where I stayed for several hours.
I gained network access and stole several thousands of dollars in physical primitives by picking my way through cheap locks.
This client had been pretty confident that I wouldn’t get into either facility, much less be able to hit both in a short time span. So the timeline was left to my discretion, but it was assumed that I would need to fly to the area twice.
I didn’t see the need in burdening them with two round-trip expenses.
I went back to Mary’s office and said, “Well I think I have what I need from here. How do I get to the office center?”
She looked at her watch and said, “It’s almost lunch time. I’ll take you there!” A whole group of us piled into the parking lot, and they took me to a nearby taco shop. That’s right. My Marks took me to get tacos… I love my job.
After lunch they drove me to the offices and a few of them came in with me to show me around.
I took FOREVER looking around this office space, and eventually they said their goodbyes because they had to go back to work. They had a strict policy of escorting visitors. But I had been seen walking around with trusted insiders so no one questioned me.
I was free to take my time. I made myself at home. My main objective at this site was to weasel my way into private corner offices.
When I accomplished my goals, I tracked down my point of contact’s office. This is the man who hired me in the first place. This is the best part of every job.
Steve was there, hard at work when I disturbed his groove by knocking on the door. He glanced up, “Hi there, can I help you?”
I smiled. “Hi Steve! I’m Sophie from Sincerely Security. It’s nice to meet you in-person!”
I will never forget the look on his face… Pure gold. “Who?.... Wait, what? How? How did you get in here?!”
We stayed in his office and talked for a long time. I went over exactly the steps that could have prevented my success. First of all, the desire to help others is human and natural. We don’t want to discourage that.
Second, I’m sure they did have some sort of policy that required visitors to check in showing government issued identification, but they weren’t following it.
We also need to post by every computer, phone and door: “TRUST, BUT VERIFY.” An employee who does their homework can ruin my day.
Third, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Is your company going to hire the team who designed Google’s offices? Magic 8 ball says no.
Lastly, the team who took me to the second location should have found someone else to escort me through the building.
I’ve been doing this job for a couple years now, and almost every job is a variant of this story. Very rarely do I go through an entire assessment without some sort of social engineering.
There are ways to protect yourself and your company from attacks like this. I think it starts by sharing stories like these, and educating and empowering each other to be vigilant.

EarthQuaker Devices Interview w/ Mike Watt of Big Walnuts Yonder, & the Minutemen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
by Aaron Rogers  - full article via EarthQuaker Devices
In 2008, I first heard the news that Watt formed a “supergroup” with Nels Cline, Tera Melos guitarist Nick Reinhart, and Deerhoof’s Greg Saunier on drums. In 2014, the group, now called Big Walnuts Yonder, recorded an album. On May 5, 2017, Big Walnuts Yonder was released, and once again I had more questions than answers.
Big Walnuts Yonder swiftly avoids the typical supergroup missteps. It is not a “musician’s” album. There is no jamming. Even at its hairiest it’s clear that this recording is the result of four musicians coming together to make songs. It’s a document of musical conversations taking place over three days at Brooklyn’s Studio G. In Watt-speak, “a pure music connect.”
youtube
Eight of the ten songs were composed on bass by Watt, who sent his ideas, or “launchpads,” as he calls them, to the rest of the group via email. The remaining songs, Nels Cline’s instrumental “Flare Star Phantom” and Greg Saunier’s “All Against All” were learned by the band on the spot in the studio. Nick Reinhart plays guitar throughout and sings on all but three songs: the aforementioned instrumental, and the one-two gut punch of “I Got Marty Feldman Eyes” and “Raise the Drawbridges?” which feature spiel from Watt.
Shortly after the release of Big Walnuts Yonder, I met up with Watt at Cleveland’s Beachland Ballroom, where before and after soundcheck with his band the Jom & Terry Show, we talked about gear, collaboration in the internet age, and the making of Big Walnuts Yonder.
Mike Watt: Okay, now [I got] those pedals right before I left [for China], but I had a couple days to use ‘em - I even recorded something for a guy in Macedonia named Vasko. Great cat. He gave me this track, said “put a bass solo on.” So that’s where I’ve used ‘em. And it really worked. It was happenin’. I used both the envelope filter and the fuzz.
What I got was Bellows and Spatial Delivery, kind of a Bootsy thing, the envelope. It’s dynamic - how hard you play it. Mu-Tron. I had one of those, and they were okay. I like yours better. And I liked your fuzz thing, too. It gave a lot of character to the solo. The guy really dug it. With the Spatial, too, I could really get it in there with the beat of the song. It was trippy. Y’know what I’m talking about? I duuno what exactly it is - I know it’s got a sensitivity and it’s got a place where you want put the resonance up or down. . . the intensity is what I got. I could find a place that was in the beat of the song. It’s trippy. Wow-wow. [Emulates bass guitar through an envelope filter].
That was very hard to get with the Mu-Tron. I could get it really quick with yours. I’m gonna spend more time - I wanna do more groove things. Y’ know, I don’t only do bass solos. I wanna work it into tunes. I got a song I’m doin’ with a guy from Tokyo and I’m gonna use both. Not at the same time. I’m think I’ll use the envelope filter through the whole thing, then when it comes to certain parts [I’ll use the Bellows]. I really like the character of both boxes. I know they’re coming from very well-known territory, but they still got that thing. The Bellows thing I dug, ‘cuz the problem with a lot of fuzz is losing the low end. So people have dealt with that with bypasses and blends, but you guys don’t do that.
Aaron Rogers: Nope, the Bellows is more like an amp . . .
Watt: That’s right. Yeah. But there’s somethin’ organic about it that don’t sound, I dunno, make it all thin-ass and shit. The only place I heard it before, and he showed me, maybe it was a Vox Super Fuzz?
[Adam] Yauch used this thing in “Sabotage,” remember that Beasties song? It even had a spring loaded switch… That bass was bad! I think it was a Super Fuzz, a Vox Super Fuzz. He showed me the pedal once. I love that dude. So sad! He’s a good cat. You know, the Stooges’ shit got stolen in Montreal in 2008. The next day he sends me a bass. A Les Paul Professional, like ’69, weighed fifteen pounds. Low impedance pickups, it’s a trippy thing. But his heart - beautiful man.
AR: Do you do much home recording?
Watt: Now things are different than the old days when you had to get in a room with people. Mostly. Nowadays you can collaborate. Send a file through BigFileSend, or whatever the fuck. You can trade files, so you can collaborate. I’ve done whole albums with dudes I’ve never even met! It’s a pure music connect.
They just send you over the things, say Watt, this cat in Canada, he’s got the same name as the Yes guy, Steve Howe, but it ain’t that one. I don’t know that guy. I know this young man . . . I kinda don’t know him. All I know him is by his music, his songs. I just thought it was interesting. Why not do it?
I did a proj . . . found out later Cedric [Bixler-Zavala] did the drums! It was somethin’ called Anywhere. This drummer-man who went to 12-string guitar. So I play to this . . . and the drumming, I’m really into it. I find out later, Cedric - I thought he was just a singer - At The Drive-In. I didn’t even know!
So, I call the studio Thunderpants, and I got an HD Pro Tool thing. Mac silver tower. I don’t have the trash can. I heard they’re dumpin’ that anyway. That was a bad move. 2008 and the motherfucker’s still great!
I use [an Avid HD] OMNI. Then I use . . . a UA LA-610, which is a tube preamp, and it’s got an optical compressor that you can bypass, because in that rack I also got an 1176 by UA and I kinda use that one more. The other one’s a little soft, but there’s something about the character - you don’t even have to be compressin’ and there’s something about the 1176 that gives you more presence. It’s got a mid-thing. Then I don’t go right in.
I use the OMNI, actually, as a dongle. I SPDIF off a BURL B2 ADC. It’s happenin’. It’s got Iron, right. It can ‘satch. And with the bass, you get enough blur. I traded out the front end tube [in the LA-610] for a 12at7 so I can get into mush a little more. That’s about it.
Oh yeah, I do have a mic, too, because I do spiel. I found a Russian Oktava [MK-519] and I had it modded by Mike Joly. He’s happenin’. Different basket, the capsule, all that shit. So I’m set. I’ve been doin’ it this way for years. The one part that ain’t solved is the creative part, but maybe it should never be solved? You should always be strugglin’. Keep goin’ at it. Tool-wise, you find stuff that works and it sticks.
I don’t use a lot of other stuff. But I think I’m gonna be usin’ these pedals! The only pedal I really use is a tuner.
AR: That’s the only one you need! I mean, I work for a pedal company, but you know…
Watt: Okay, I tried. I didn’t wanna be some guy who talks about something without ever tryin’. So my second opera, The Secondman’s Middle Stand, about the sickness in 2000 that almost murdered me… Well, I used Dante’s Divine Comedy - the Inferno was gettin’ sick, Purgatory was healin’ up, and Paradise was workin’ the bass, and kayaking, and bicycling. I used pedals on the whole motherfuckin’ thing! I used a phase - usually Boss or whatever.  One was a phase, one was an envelope, one was a fuzz, but I couldn’t turn ‘em on at the right time at the gigs! It was hard. I tried it. I did three tours with it, and I thought, “You know what, I’m goin’ back to just playin’ fingers.” But, this thing where you’re recording and you collaborate, it don’t matter where I turn it on. If I fuck up I just do it again!
AR: How did online collaboration come into play with Big Walnuts Yonder?
Watt: Nick Reinhart (Tera Melos) wants to talk to me about the first opera, Contemplating the Engine Room. “Who’s that guitar man?” Nels Cline. Which was a trippy-ass, almost déjà vu thing from a few years earlier with Mr. Shimmy in Tokyo. “Mr. Mike, who’s this guitar man on your first opera?” And I said to him then, “You wanna know him? Play with him!”
So I got a ticket and me and him went to Tokyo in three days and made the first Brother’s Sister’s Daughter album. And of course you know Nels’ background. He tried to bring free music to SoCal for years and years. Now he’s in New York City and there’s a whole scene there. He’s got a twin brother named Alex, too. They’re incredible cats.
“So, Nick, you want to know him? Play with him!” Nels said “bring it.”
Y’know I did my first opera - I got it all together, the libretto all the music . . . [Nels] never heard it.
You know that first take feel? You can really do that with Nels. He spent so many years doing improv - he just picks up on it. So I told Nels, and he says, “Yeah, bring this kid. But, look, have him pick a drummer.” “Hey Nick, what do you think?” “Well, what about Greg Saunier?”
Trip thing was, 17 years ago, Nels brings me to bring me to see my first Deerhoof gig. He’s old friends of his. And he had just moved to New York City. And who’s in New York City? Former Cleveland guy, big bass hero. When Pere Ubu played the Whisky in West Hollywood in ’77 [it] just blew me and D. Boon’s mind. Tony Maimone! And he’s got a studio in Brooklyn - Studio G.
So they’re both living there, only me and Nick have to fly there, and we do it in three days. I wrote eight songs, just on the bass. Nels is way into it. It’s like a launchpad or a springboard. Other dudes are like, “Whoa! Not enough information! It’s like writing on the kick drum or the cymbals.” But he likes it. Guitar? Piano? A little too much harmonic content. He wants to be free.
One time, Bass Player magazine asked me the future of bass. I was gonna say, “Twenty more strings,” but then I thought, “No, maybe composition. Maybe [bass] ain’t the last thing you put on. Maybe it could be the first thing.” And they’re not just lines, these are whole songs. And they’re meant to have holes. I build [them] in to see what’s gonna happen. What they’re gonna bring. . . I’m more like a composer. Just doing it on this trippy instrument. Even Charlie Mingus never composed on bass. Always piano. I think the future of bass is composition.
This is what we did. We did eight of ‘em. Nels brought in one. Greg brought in one. I never heard ‘em until the day in the studio. But Nick wanted to hear my eight. And what he did was, he went and wrote parts. He wrote parts to all eight of my tunes. So when it came time to do ‘em in New York City at Studio G, I got to use Tony’s bass, a ’66 Jazz with EMG pickups. Badass bridge, too.
Y’know, it’s all about people I’ve found in this movement. Or music, period. I’m not really into genres and all that shit. Music’s music. But people are so important. I also did the third opera with that bass. I also didn’t have to bring one on the plane! But it’s fuckin’ Tony Maimone’s. So he writes parts to all this stuff. But still, there’s Nels in the moment - hasn’t heard any of it. And the dynamic between the two...
I got the title [Big Walnuts Yonder] from a Richard Melzer poem. Big hero of me and D. Boon’s. He wrote lyrics for Blue Oyster Cult, but he also invented rock writing. In the 60s he wrote a book called The Aesthetics of Rock. Incredible cat. Lives in Portland now. Crawdaddy, Rolling Stone, all that. He wrote a book about it later on called A Whore Just Like the Rest, because he got pretty [burnt out]. Anyway, not to get bummed out...
But Big Walnuts Yonder, I just thought, “I know something’s gonna happen between the dynamic of these two [Nick and Nels].” And I didn’t use any pedals. But they fuckin’ did! I think thirty-five each. It was like watching a dance. Sittin’ there, I’m watching this thing happen. And Nels is just so generous. I mean, I read stories about Robert Johnson turning around so dudes couldn’t see the licks. Nels ain’t like that. He’s like, “Look at this, look at this.” Nick’s just soakin’ it up like a sponge.
Greg’s over there - he’s a muso. I mean, he’s not just a drummer. He only had a kick, snare, and a hi-hat! Big hi-hats, like twenty inches or something. It’s amazing, the dialogue. I adjusted a little bit, but I kept to what I wrote. And then I had to learn theirs in the moment. Nels is great at giving direction. He’s visualizing it for you. Like Perry - in Porno for Pyros I did three tours, and he never gave you chords, he always told you the story of the song! “Got it, Mike?” And I’m like, “okay!” But it’s a neat way. There’s something about getting people in without them being puppets. Greg’s the same way. He’s got a laugh, man. I think it’s on the album. It’s what the old scene was about. It’s about individuals. Only one Darby, one Pat.
AR: A band like the Germs only comes around once . . .
Watt: Yeah. Remember, they tried with [Shane West?] But I should get to this part . . . We get done, and we think the record’s gonna be an instrumental album. All done. We get home, and Nick puts singin’ on everything but Nels’ song! And he writes me and asks, “Mike, tune “T” and “U,” I want you to put spiel on.” ‘Cuz I just named ‘em like tune” R,” “S,” “T,” “U,” “V.” I wanted names after they were realized. All of us were tripped out. They got all this singn’ and words.
AR: So you had no idea when you tracked the album that the songs would have lyrics?
Watt: No, I didn’t. That’s the young man, the new guy, the student, keepin’ us students! Because that’s what life’s about, I think - being a student. So in a lot of ways, the record is a collection of accidents and coincidences. It’s trippy. There’s a lot of intention, and we’re gonna do this . . . but in another way, we let the freak flag fly and let it float a little bit, and then it ends up being what it is, that no one imagined.
AR: What’s the story behind your two songs, “Raise the Drawbridges?” and “I Got Marty Feldman Eyes?”
Watt: . . . maybe I’m biased because I’m in the arts, but I think about the arts . . . okay, maybe some people aren’t professional talkers, but they still know how to talk. The idea that things get too uptight, it’s tough for me. The other one was me trying to explain to Greg a motif that was musical. I had just done some benefits for Strummerville, this organization in Joe Strummer’s name to help young bands. And I don’t really know [the] Clash except for the first record and the singles. I don’t really know “Rock The Casbah,” except it was on the radio. I only really like the first album. So we had to learn ‘em to do these benefits - all these old songs like “1977” and “Complete Control,” so I used some of that for one tune, just because it was current in my life.
So I tell Greg this, and he goes, “Oh, so you want an angry white young man vibe?” And I was like, “No, it’s really more about these chords.”  It’s not like Ramones. It’s weird. It’s got kind of a Reggae, or Gilbert & Sullivan thing. The English punk was a little different, which was okay. Wire was a little different, too. And Pop Group, they put Funkadelic with Beefheart. You don’t have to all copy the Ramones. In fact, the Ramones did a pretty good job being the Ramones. So that was the thing, and of course Greg got it like that. I mean, guy went to Oberlin . . . and why not talk about things? My pop said, “When you assume, you make an ass out of you and me.” He thought it was destined.
AR: My mom used to say that, too.
Watt: It’s so clever. The most righteous coincidence for teaching that ethic. I remember explaining it to [Greg], and this guy’s lookin’ at me, and it’s like Marty Feldman eyes. Much respect to Marty Feldman. But you know what, [Greg] let it go, and that’s what music’s for. It was beautiful. So those were my two songs. I don’t know where [Nick’s] words are coming from, where his singing’s coming from. That’s all Nick Reinhart. But since he was the spark that got the whole thing going, I don’t think nobody had anything to say about it. It’s how it evolved. The whole thing was a happy accident in some ways. I wanted Nick to know Nels by playing with him.
Big Walnuts Yonder is out now on Sargent House.

Genuine Traffic Hack – Get Unlimited FREE Traffic Per Hour ! alright guys in this session what we're gonna talk about today is how to drive unlimited free traffic using in this case Google Plus and using Facebook groups so I'm sorry Google Plus and Facebook pages um now I'm starting the three with free traffic because I'm assuming that you have a limited budget and and most people who are just starting out do have a limited budget but if you don't have a limited budget and if you're comfortable doing paid traffic well then that just makes this thing even easier because with this system once you get the hang of it and once you really master it your earnings per click can be so high that you can basically spend almost whatever you want on paid advertising and still be able to make a profit still be able to make a positive ROI we're gonna talk about that a little bit later but I wanted to start out with giving you just a couple free traffic systems that you can put into play you know practice right away even if you don't have a huge budget you know because I don't think that you know not having a budget should should stop you from from making money online I didn't have a budget when I first started and these traffic tactics really come in handy so there's two key principles for using these tactics consistently and using them in the right way okay first of all always be cool and second always add value okay so what do I mean by that well in a nutshell what I mean is that you should not under any circumstances spam these traffic methods okay deliver real value upfront and be a real person who's genuinely contributing value to these people's lives so look the question that you always need to ask yourself is who is the other person on the other end of this computer who's this person that's seeing your message that's seeing your content of seeing the stuff that you post and what's their reaction gonna be you need to put yourself in their shoes and and and and really ask yourself that question because just posting a random link or some spammy affiliate link or something that says hey go buy this it's only gonna piss people off and it's not gonna get you any traffic what you need to do is always add value contribute something important to their lives help them out with something solve a problem and we'll talk more about how to do that in just a minute but I just want you to understand right now that if you think that you can jump on Facebook or Twitter or whatever and just you know post some you know just start spamming affiliate links in there and expect people to buy stuff it's just not going to happen so you know we're in 2013 now people are much more sophisticated than they used to be and people don't respond to that kind of stuff but they respond to is a real committed caring person who genuinely has their best interests at heart and who knows what they're talking about so the steps to drive easy social media traffic are this first of all you find a good traffic source find a place where the people in your market are already hanging out they're already congregating it's much easier to do that than it is to you know just spam your message all over the internet and hope that the right people see it it's much easier to find people that are already interested in what you've got already interested in your target market and and I'll show you exactly how to do that then what you do is deliver them some good content um doesn't have to be anything major doesn't have to be you know a whole dissertation or a hundred page ebook I'm talking about like just simple recommendations just contribute to the discussion you know if you feel comfortable doing a short like 30-second video you know giving them some kind of tip then great anything that helps people out anything that helps people's lives you know if you've ever been on your own Facebook account if you're on Twitter or or your own Google+ or whatever it is and somebody posted something that you watched and you looked at it and you were like oh that was interesting that was cool IIIi dug that that's the kind of stuff that you want to shoot for does that to be anything life-changing but it does just have to demonstrate that a you know what you're talking about and that B you're a cool person and that's all people want to know and then number three you position yourself as one of the gang so you're not some some you know like skinny sales person who's coming in there to you know swoop in there and Hawk some sort of snake oil or something like that you're positioning yourself it's just one of the gang okay so if you're in a can if you're in some kind of community on Facebook on Google+ wherever it is where you guys are talking about say dog training you want to position yourself as someone that's a dog enthusiast who loves dogs and you just happen to know a little bit more about it than the average member of that community so in other words you want to be the most knowledgeable person on there like if you go for example on the warrior forum you'll find that there's certain people in the warrior forum that just seem to have an answer to everyone's questions they know what they're talking about the been around the block they're very very helpful and and they're always in there you know just kind of helping people out that's what you want to do in the beginning that's how you want to establish yourself it's not some outsider who's kind of come in there to push a bunch of sales on people but just a cool person who knows what he's talking about who's happy to contribute to the group and contribute to the discussion and when you've got that you can tap into a pretty much endless unlimited stream of quality traffic from Facebook from Google+ from LinkedIn I mean he'll from any social network that's really the key now look if you've got the budget then do paid advertising because it allows you to bypass all of this but if you don't have a budget this works extremely well to get your message up in front of the people who really really really want to hear it the people who are most likely to buy what you're offering so once again find where people in your market are already gathering provide really good quality information to them and position yourself is just a really really smart member of the community not a salesperson but a really wise really smart person with a lot of expertise who really cares so here's how you do this specifically using Google+ and using Facebook to drive all the traffic that you need into the knockout profit system here we go hey guys alright so here I am inside Google+ now Google+ has some very very cool features that you probably don't know about and you're probably not taking advantage of um it's like pretty useless or social networks ago um you know uh it's just not a good social network it's not nearly as like fun or functional as Facebook for example but it can be very very powerful to us as marketers and there's one critical feature that Google+ has that other social media networks don't and what that is is the ability to add people to what Google+ refers to as circles so I'm clicking down here I'm in my Google+ here I'm clicking on my circles tab right and what circles are in Google+ is their base groups of people okay so you can take people and just add them to whatever circle you want and once you do that it gives you the ability to post on their timeline and post on their feed without that person giving you permission to do so let me say that again it gives you the permission to post on someone's timeline and post on someone's feed without them giving you permission to do so now look this is totally different from friending someone on Facebook if you want to post to someone's wall on Facebook you know 99% of the time you have to send them a friend request they have to accept that friend request and they have to basically give you permission to do that Google+ does not work this way if you add someone to one of your circles you automatically by default have the power to post into their feed and to to you know to post whatever you want so that's extremely powerful now look they can shut it off but by default it's turned on so they can go and if they want to they could go into like Google+ as privacy settings and tweak and change all that stuff but most people just can't be bothered so that creates a huge opportunity for marketers if you know what if you know what you're doing okay now here's another tip if you have less than a hundred people in one of your circles it also gives you the ability to email their gmail account okay so give you the ability to take whatever you're posting in their timeline and also post it to their gmail account so that's incredibly powerful guys I mean it basically allows you to send out you know send out emails and send out email blasts to people who haven't opted in to anything that you're doing now look I'm telling you this and I want to tell you with a warning right now okay because I know that there's some people that are gonna watch this and they're gonna use this for evil okay they're gonna get this they're gonna start building up their Google circles and they're just gonna start spamming people with all kinds of offers okay you guys are gonna ruin it for yourselves and you're gonna ruin it for everyone else because the more people who do this the more that Google's gonna try to crack down on this kind of thing but for right now it's basically wide open and you can do this as much as you want okay so what I want to do show you how to do this the right way so that you're not spamming anybody not ruining everybody's life you're being cool and you're contributing value okay because the truth guys is look you can be lazy you can spam people they're not gonna buy anything from you but if you can genuinely make a contribution to their life if you can give them just even just one good tip that they can turn around and use oh man it's gonna you know it could potentially change your whole the whole quality of that whole relationship where they won't just look at you as some marketer who's out to scan them but they look at you as a trusted adviser and a trusted friend you know just like somebody on the warrior forum where if you go to the warrior forum and you ask a question and somebody comes in and they answer it and they're just like hey man here's what I think bah bah bah bah bah and they give you some good tips oh man you know that's a great that's a great kind of relationship to have with people and so later on when you start inviting those people to videos inviting those people to webinars inviting those people to the things that you're doing there's gonna be a tremendous amount of goodwill there okay so that's really what these social media tactics are all about how to build goodwill with the right kind of people okay so let me just show you really quickly how this works all right now the great thing about Google+ is that you can search for pretty much any damn thing you want okay so let's say that you are indie I don't know dentistry niche or no I've already got a list of dentists let's just say you guys are in the chiropractic niche okay then what you're selling is coaching and consulting to chiropractors to offline businesses okay so I'm gonna go ahead and search for chiropractor right here in the just regular old Google Plus search search bar I'm just typing in the word chiropractor okay okay so now what it's gonna show you by default is it's gonna show you all these different you know pretty much anything on the network that has to do with chiropractic that's not really what we want while we're looking for our people okay so there's a little tab here this is everything I want you to click that tab and I want you just go down to people and pages okay aha now it's showing us people and pages related to chiropractic Pittsburgh chiropractor to hatchapee chiropractor Evansville chiropractor Henderson Texas chiropractor santa barbara chiropractor okay now you're gonna notice that there are two kinds of entries here on the side some of them say add to circles and some of them say follow if it says follow it means that this is like a page sort of like a fan page on Facebook it's not an individual person but if it says to add to circles that means that it's an individual person this is what you can do is go ahead and add that person to a circle and just call it chiropractor and that allows you to begin to build a list of chiropractors it allows you to begin to build a list of leads okay so that's all you have to do so I'm just gonna go ahead and click this person just to show you how it works I'm gonna click add to circles and then all your different circles come up and you can add a person to whatever circle you want okay it's really that simple then once you've got those people added to your circles you can click the circles tab and you can pull up one of your circles so for example this is a circle that I have called small business okay and I can see everyone in there these are all small business owners that I've put together now remember I said if you have less than a hundred people in one of your circles it gives you the ability to email to their Gmail okay if you have more than 100 people in one of your circles that ability goes away so let's say you want to start building a list of small business owners you can do that or chiropractors you can do that just make sure that when you get to like 97 or 98 people what you do is create a new circle so for example I've got lists of small business owners in my Google+ and it's got you know small business 298 people small business 397 people small business 498 people and so on and so on and so on alright so hopefully that makes sense start getting people into your circles clearly label what those circles are and make sure that if you want to email these people that you have less than a hundred people in that circle okay so Google+ does have a limit of 5,000 people that you can have in your circles at any one time but for our purposes that's plenty all right now let me show you how to actually post to these people so I'm gonna click back to my home tab okay now this is where you go when you post your status updates or whatever inside uh inside Google+ okay so I'm just going to type something bla bla I'm not actually gonna post here but you can post whatever you want links videos images anything like that and then it asks you to add names circles or email addresses okay great so let me pick one of my circles I'm gonna pick say I'm gonna send this out to my small business or circle okay that's it now look at this I've selected small business too so this is gonna be seen by everybody in small business - it's gonna go right into their feed now look at this right down here at the bottom it says also send email to small business - now if I check that box and I hit share it's gonna blast out this status update to the email inbox of everybody in that circle okay so you see how powerful that is now again guys what you want to do with this is spend some time just posting to people's timelines okay I wouldn't email people right off the bat you may not want to email people at all but test it out start posting to these people's timelines and just say hey guys so that I saw you know here's a cool video that I saw you know or here's a quick tip about you know dog training or chiropractic or whatever it is or you know here's a link to a post on my blog that I did about how to get more clients for your chiropractic business and just build up that relationship okay and when you've done that for a little while then you can actually invite these people to our webinar which is going to be the next thing that we talked about but this is how you sort of begin to build up that relationship okay so that just post you know whatever it is it could be a short report could be a blog post anything you guys know the different I'm not gonna you know not gonna baby you through this part okay because you guys know the difference between a useful tip and spam okay so as long as you promote here we were posting some kind of useful tip you're good whatever it is you're good do this for a while to build up that relationship so that these people begin to learn who you are and then you can do things like send them direct invitations to webinars or to or to whatever you want now again use this for good don't abuse it alright that's how it works inside Google+ now there's one other feature that I want to tell you about Google+ also has communities so you can use the search bar up here to find people or you can just look for communities like here's a community about photography for example you know here's a community about Doctor Who not that that's really a niche for internet marketing but if there were if there was a doctor who product out there and you got 12,000 prospects you know animal lovers 14,000 prospects places to see before you die obviously these people are in to travel 18,000 members there so this is another way that you can find people that you can con you can target you can add to your circles okay so like if I go to for example places or night photography that's a great one you think these people are gonna be interested in things like cameras they're gonna be interested in all that stuff so you know if you're into photography you could post okay well here's a couple pictures I took with my brand-new Canon camera and here's where you get it and post a you know post the link to Amazon or whatever you want okay so you know it's up to you however you want to use this but the point is is if you know how to cultivate a relationship you can knock it out of the park with just free traffic from Google Plus okay so let's take a look at Facebook real quick alright guys so here we are inside Facebook now with Facebook it doesn't give you the ability to add people to circles and start you know posting stuffs in the timeline and emailing them like Google Plus does okay Facebook is way more secure than that but the one thing it does have is a ton of traffic and a ton of people large groups of people who are really really interested in one thing or another okay so just as an example I'm gonna type in something really random I'm gonna type in Aikido which if you don't know what that is it's a Japanese martial art and I'm gonna scroll all the way down to see more results for Aikido okay now one of the things poke is started doing is it started doing these like interest pages and and these are just kind of lame what you want to look for as a community page or like a you know a group a group page like these these communities are great Aikido Portugal Aikido East Side that's probably school but let's take a look at this one here Aikido community here we have an open community right where they have you know a time line going and all that stuff and you can post whatever you want so it's the same sort of story guys post good content post valuable content and you know and then eventually just start you can start inviting people to your sessions inviting people to your webinars inviting people wherever you want them to go now again don't spam this but it's something that you can that you can do and once you like this group most of the time depending on how their settings are configured when someone posts something it actually shows up in everyone's feed so you know it's again it's the same principle it's very powerful so between Facebook and Google+ you should be able to get you know to drive enough free traffic from social media to you know at least get you started at least gets you 100 or 200 people on a webinar and as we talked about in the last video when we crunched the numbers I mean that's really all that you need to get started then you run your webinar you pitch your workshop you know you make some sales and then you take that money and you reinvest that back into paid traffic so then you've got you know your free traffic coming in from these social media sites then you've also got you know paid traffic coming in and you'll you'll have a really good sense of how much money you are earning from your webinar how much money you're earning per click how much money are earning per visitor and that's the metric that sets you free to know exactly how much you can spend does that make sense so that's basically how it works um you know and and you can also search for let's try Quito again there's also groups you know here's an open group of an open group all about Aikido thirteen hundred and sixty members there's open groups as closed groups here's another one but twelve thousand members so all these things are places where the traffic is already there the people are already sitting there they're already congregating all you have to do is go in there and start contributing to the discussion and and see what you can do and in some cases if the group is big enough this page isn't even in English but if the group is big enough you can click the About tab you can click see more hold on a second I want to see the ad you can click on that About tab it'll show you who the members are and then if you click on the admins it's gonna show you who the administrators of this are what you can do is then contact them individually and get them to partner up with you and get them to start posting links here our webinars are posting links to your sales pages and partner up with them if they're willing to do that but it's much easier to do that after you have contributed some value to the discussion and contributed some value to the group and started participating in the discussion okay so if you have no other traffic sources this is something that you can do to get started even as a newbie you can use these these these you know Google+ tactics these Facebook tactics you can do similar things on LinkedIn I'm just about any social network that has groups where people you can post stuff you can be sort of infiltrated using this strategy okay so I'm counting on you to do it ethically counting on you to do it with sponsible because honestly if you don't you're not gonna get the results anyway so do it right do a good job and and that's our that's our social media traffic strategy all right I'll catch you guys on the next video

What is the cheapest health insurance I can get?
I'm a healthy single person with no preexisting conditions living in Washington State and am tired of paying $430/mo for COBRA. My acceptable range is $50 - $150/mo and only want it as hedge against risk of major injury. I may be travelling overseas for 3-6 months this winter and I'm wondering if: 1. I should choose something like LifeWise with 10k deductible for 3 months, just short term then let it cancel, then get different travel insurance thereafter? 2. Choose a company that does both domestic US and overseas travel coverage? 3. Let COBRA expire and just risk it? Do you have any recommendations? Know of any especially affordable deals that match this?""
Cost of motorcycle insurance?
Hi, I passed my CBT in february 2011, so i have been riding for under a year, on a honda cbr 125. It was around 250 for third party. I'm looking to buy a better quality 125cc motorcycle before doing my Standard Motorcycle Test some time in 2012. I'm looking to get my hands on a 2008 (or there abouts) yamaha yzf r125, as i believe this is a high performance 125 that will be able to indure the 100+ mile journies i will need to make every few months. I will need better insurance on a bike like this - Third Party Fire and Theft preferably. So my question is, can someone who has owned a yzf r125 tell me what they paid for insurance so i can get a general idea of what i'd expect to pay? Thank you for any contributions!""

Is it normal for a doctor to tell you you have to pay $90 a year if you use health insurance?
I live in Colorado and I got a letter from my doctor today telling me I have to pay $90 a year to use insurance with him. He also said that every time they have to send a request for authorization for something and they get it back and have to ask again they will charge you $75. This is kind of bothering me because I am waiting to have surgery and am not working and can't afford much more than just a co-pay. Does this sound normal for a doctor to ask for this?
Is this insurance company giving me the runaround?
I filed a claim with USAA on September 5th on a hit and run accident in which the police were able to find the person and get his insurance. He called them and said he didn't do it - and I hit him. I called, gave my side of the story and the number of the police who were handling the accident. They always say they will call me back and they don't - so I call them in which they give me another date they will get back to me. They never ONCE have gotten back to me. The policy holder who hit me is now in jail on an unrelated offense and they say they cannot get his statements - duh. They say they will contact the police and get back to me - but they never have. The damage to the car isn't that much - it is $416 (just a headlight) but I cannot afford to pay for it. Putting it through my insurance is dumb because the deductable is $500 - at least I think that is how it works. Could you give me advice on how to deal with USAA? I can't talk to them on the weekends because they say they can't handle my existing claim. I'm getting REALLY frustrated.""

How is my motorcycle insurance so CHEAP?
Okay so im looking into buying a motorcycle this summer. Ill be turning 18, and have always wanted a bike. So i was looking at how much insurance would cost me for it because i hear that its expensive and im a full time student and work minimum wage job, so its not like i have money just to shoot out my *** for fun. I was looking at progressive, because they show instant online quotes so i dont have to actually call in and give my real name and social security # and stuff like that. So i go onto progressive's, and enter all my real info like age and stuff(but lie about my actual address and name and email cause i dont want constant ads and spam). And i got cheaper than expected quotes.....So i put in, 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250r. Male. Turning 18 in july. Put in that i have motorcycle endorsement and taken safety course(i havent yet, but i will by the time i actually own a bike and have to buy insurance for real). No accidents or tickets. 0 years riding experience(although i ran multiple quotes and noticed price drops by $29 for a 12month policy if youve had even 1 year of riding experience, which is nice). And i got a quote for $285 12month policy. For Bodily Injury & Property Damage 50/100/25. Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury 25/50. $100 deductible on comprehensive for bike(again i ran multiple quotes, and changing the deductible amount on comprehensive only saves a few bucks). $500 deductible for collision(this deductible amount changes your rate incredibly). No other coverage. Got quoted $285...seems kinda cheap to me considering im so young? Not complaining that i save money....just wondering if this sounds normal? Random insurance question, lets say im riding my bike and going at a good speed, say 45+mph. Then fall and completely eat ****. I injure and damage only myself and my bike. Lets say my bike needs some repairs or maybe even replacing, and my leg is broken or something like that. Will any insurance cover any costs since it was my fault to my own personal injury? Is this when health insurance kicks in for medical bills? And would motorcycle insurance pay for any of this? If so, which kind? Like comprehensive, collision, liability, under-insured motorist? Because i have no idea. This next part might be a little hard to understand, so ill try my best. But i ran multiple quotes and changed the age i said i was, for instance, i put in my real birthday on one July 1996, than i put July 1995 on another just to see how much the rate goes for a 18yr old, because once i actually get the bike i will be 18. The quote where i put my real birthday and said i was 17, got quoted $285, the quote where i said i was already 18, got quoted $319.....how is that possible that i get a $34 cheaper quote for being younger??? I feel like someone at progressive online site is trolling me and getting my hopes up now, just to see me go ape **** when i actually go get a real quote. Thanks!""

Why did my wife's auto insurance premiums go up after I got a DUI?
After I pleaded guilty to a DUI charge, my wife's auto insurance company refused to renew her policy. Because we are married, other insurance companies have either quoted her higher premiums or refused a quote for her based upon my mistake. We had separate insurance companies, I was driving my car, not hers. She was not in the car with me and had nothing to do with it. I was pulled over because my license plate light was burned out. I was not driving erratically, speeding or anything of that sort. I had not had any violations in 16 years and she hasn't in nearly 30-years. My Ford Galaxy 1998 has lots of scratches all over the body work. The question i'm asking everyone is am i able to claim on my car insurance for the malicious scratches? For the damage done by another car that i didn't report? And also the damage i caused? I have 6 years no claims bonus (protected) will it be affected? and an excess of 150. Am i able to make a claim for all the damage or will i need to pay where i have damaged it? Any advice please.""

On friday 4/25 my 03 Tahoe was stolen in front of my house it was recovered the following day 4/26 about 9pm?
it was about 2:30am when the vehicle was stolen, the police was called and they came out to the scene. they gave me a file number. Later in the a.m i called the Insurance and reported the auto theft i gave all the current information my statement was being recorded. The insurance inspector came out to inspect the vehicle on Tuesday theyre were alot of damage inside out. He said it was about $4,000.00 worth of damage. It maybe was going to be total loss. I went ahead and called the adjustor to follow up on the inspection he then said he gave my claim to a investigator for further review. I mention to him that my vehicle is at my house when it should be in the tow yard, that it seems they are lacking holding off in helping me with this situation. He was rude and continue to tell me to wait for a phone call. Today 5/2/2014 a claim investigator called me stating that it was a coincidence that i worked for a auto body shop and my vehicle being stolen recently. I got really upset i told her me working at a shop doesnt have nothing to do with my car being stolen. I told her I was going to seek help thru a lawyer and hanged up the phone. Has anyone been a similar situation? I live in the state of California and have Infinity Insuracne Both my cars are full cover and both are paid off.""
Car Insurance Question?
My fiance and I want to buy a new car - and I am the primary buyer, and he is the co-buyer. Can we just add the new car to his auto insurance and list me as a driver of the car? (My current car is not on his insurance, it's on my moms because she helped me get my current car) Or must we be married to do this? I have heard that if you're not married, then I would need to get my own separate insurance policy, but I don't know how true this is. The dealership says that it doesn't matter, as long as the car has insurance. Do they check?""

What cars have cheap insurance for a teen?
Not looking for some online thing with only a couple new cars. In YOUR experience what cars have the cheapest insurance? Right now I'm looking for any beater as looks really don't matter too much as I'm only gonna pay like $500 or a little more depending on the car and only going to drive it for 3-4 months or so (unless its a classic) because with the job I am getting next month Ill be able to afford a much nicer car and insurance in no time. I got a quote for an 03 civic si coupe at 400 bucks a month (while on my dads insurance) I am 17 and thats too much for me right now heck i could buy an old beater civic for that much. So I'm thinking going back as 90's and up (I'm all for classic cars but I dont think the insurance will be any less because they think all old cars have massive and fast motors and are death traps. I like this 87 monte carlo ss that isnt too old but again the insurance sees ss and adds another $100 -_- ) theres also a 76 camaro with a 305 that I really like and its already yellow! (bumble bee anyone?) though i dont know how the insurance would be for that. It's just a regular one as there was no z28 option in 76. Now I'm thinking what about the early 90s civics such as the hatch? though I would guess insurance would still be high because they are easy to steal see my frustration no matter what cheap car i think of insurance finds a reason to skyrocket rates What cars can you recommend me that I can get for a grand? cheap insurance and cheap gas would be good too but if the fbodys arent too bad on insurance then i dont care about the gas.

Car insurance - change of address?
Hi. Recently i changed my address so i had to let the car insurance company know about that. But they charged(actually are willing to chage) me 423 pounds !! Yes, there's not a misspeling. It's 423 . As far as i ve seen, most people get charged no maximum than 50 pounds for this change. Also, there are no changes on my policy. I still have a garage, i still do the same mileage/year and so on. They even confirmed that there's no change in policy details except the new address. The new address it's in Manchester (central area) and before i lived in Bradford(UK). Now, in the mean time, i had a claim. If i would have found about this fee before, i would have cancel my insurance policy but now that i have a claim, i can't cancel it anymore and being refunded (as i paid the insurance for 1 year in one go, Not monthly). I found about this crazy 423 fee only now when i had this claim. You can't find anything about any fees related to changing the address neither on my policy papers nor on their website and online policy books. I suppose they considered this fee just as an administration fee. And i suppose they could have charged me even 10 000 pounds as an administration fee just because they can. I don't feel protected by the company anymore !! that's why it's an insurance company, to protect and take some risks out. The insurance company it's Admiral. I tryed to talk and explain them that this fee it's just nuts but they didn't agreed. The fee it's about 1/4 of the total insurance cost for 1 year. Maybe they try to take advantage of the fact that i can't cancel it (coz i have a claim in process) and i can't get refunded ? Any ideea how should i proceed ? Shall i proceed with any legal actions ? if yes, how much time and money would that cost because i wouldn't go into, i don't think it's worth doing that. Thanks in advance :) Cheers!""

Alright, so let's say I win a Powerball lottery jackpot, which automatically makes me the happiest man in the world. Well.. I know that's not going to happen, since I have a horrible luck, but let's just imagine. I get a big, luxury house in Beverly Hills with an underground garage. Phantasy Star Online 2
Tumblr media
-from ARKS LAYER-
Looking to play PSO2? You've come to the right place! This guide will help you make a SEGA ID on the Japanese PSO2 server, and get started playing the game in English.
Part 0: Before you start
Before you get started, You should download the setup file (It'll take a while, so letting it download while registering is a good timesaver!) Additionally, you might want to check how the game will run on your computer by trying the PSO2 Benchmark 2.0.
Part 1: Registering a SEGA ID
Start by going to the SEGA Registration Page. Put your e-mail in the text box and hit the blue button. Your browser should then take you to a page in moon speak (Japanese), that says "An e-mail has been sent your e-mail address. Please click the link to continue the signup process."
Tumblr media
If you then open up your e-mail, there should be a new auto-generated e-mail from SEGA in your inbox. Some services, such as hotmail, may generate an error or send the mail to spam automatically. GMail doesn't have any issues, so if you can't find the e-mail, then making a GMail account for PSO2 might be a good idea. The e-mail itself is displayed below. Click the link to continue the process.
PLEASE WRITE DOWN/SAVE THIS E-MAIL, YOU WILL NEED IT LATER.
Tumblr media
Part 2: Filling in the information for the Sega Form
Simply fill in the information as indicated below:
Tumblr media
Part 3: Japanese Captcha Boss (talk to nico for help ez)
If you're a regular user of the internet, you should be familiar with captchas - They're used to make sure you're human. Usually, not a problem... UNLESS THEY'RE JAPANESE.
Tumblr media
NOTE: For this specific part you can talk to Nico, our homie from the SEA region. Just ask a question by replying to this post and Nico will help you out with the captcha. He’s our awesomest guy <3
[After Nico helps you through the captcha and you’re let in through the gates from the Terrordome, you’ll be met with this following page:
Tumblr media
From here just click submit answers and that’s it!]
Part 4: Registering your new SEGA ID for PSO2
This part is really easy. After you hit "register" in the previous part, you'll be taken to a new screen:
Tumblr media
Click the only button there. You'll be taken to another screen (this one will probably change a lot, just look for a button underneath something that says "Phantasy Star Online 2" You'll be taken to this screen:
Tumblr media
Just click the checkmark, then hit the leftmost box (sometime these buttons will change places - Try the leftmost box and if it doesn't say the below text, try the middle one). The next screen will say:
_『ファンタシースターオンライン2』を開始する準備が整いました。
ゲームを起動してログイン画面に進んで下さい。
PC版クライアントをダウンロードする場合はこちらへお進み下さい。 _
You are now ready to start playing Phantasy Star Online 2.
Proceed to the login screen to start your journey.
Please proceed to this url if you want to download the PC version client.
This means you're fully registered and ready to play! Now, let's install and update the game!
Part 5: Installing and Updating PSO2
Once you've registered your SEGA ID, run the PSO2E3JP_SETUPEN.exe file. This will walk you through installing Phantasy Star Online 2. This install WILL take a while, this is normal. Once it's finished, download the PSO2 Tweaker. Open it, and you'll be asked to find you where you installed PSO2, and the pso2_bin folder inside of there. If you used the installer I've linked, it should be C:\PHANTASYSTARONLINE2\pso2_bin.
Once selected, the main window will open. Using the menu on the top left (the circle), select "Check for PSO2 updates" and hit "No" on the pop-up window. The Tweaker will now check for any missing or outdated files, and update them as necessary. Depending on how many patches and your download speed, this may take quite a while. (At the time of this writing, there are over 50,000 files in the game's win32 directory.)
Once the Tweaker reports that you have the most current version of the game, you may install the English patch (translates core text, gui stuff, etc), item/title translation patches (available in the plugins menu), and more!
You may also wish to connect to the Telepipe Proxy, which will allow instant item translation, title translation, block translation, and more! Click here to see more information!
Part 5.5: Fixing PSO2JP Connection issues (Only necessary for SEA/region blocked areas)
If you cannot connect to http://pso2.jp, you'll need to do an extra step to connect to the game. Open your Tweaker (http://arks-layer.com/) (update if you need to) and go to [!] -> Other Tasks -> Configure Telepipe/PSO2Proxy settings. Enter this URL in the box that opens: http://telepipe.io/config.json
This will connect you to our Telepipe Proxy, which will let you bypass the IP block (and provide instant item translations, title translations, and more!)
If you'd rather use a Private IP and server, you can also follow the Amazon AWS PSO2Proxy Method here - http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=220299 (Requires a valid credit card, more complicated than the above method)
Part 6: Logging in for the first time
Once you've configured everything and set it all up (as shown above), you're ready to play! Click "Start PSO2".
If you get an error message from Gameguard (NP anything) or get redirected to their website (http://www.gameguard.co.kr/gameguard/faq/eng/FAQ_reinstall.htm or any variation of it), just open the Tweaker back up, click [!] -> Troubleshooting -> Fix Gameguard Errors. After it finishes, click "Launch PSO2" again and it should work.
Once you get to the title screen of PSO2, hit enter. Click "Agree to terms" or the leftmost button. Click "Login SEGA ID" and select your ship (Ships are servers - Ship 02 is currently the "main" English ship). Enter the SEGA ID and Password you created above, and you'll login! Congratulations!
You'll be asked to select a Player ID (The ID everyone will see and use to look you up). You're almost done now! Upon attempting to make your first character, a screen will pop up like this:
Tumblr media
This is asking if you're been invited to the game by another player - There are bonuses for BOTH players (the person who invited you, and you) if you put an ID number here. I'd appreciate it if you could use mine (assuming you're joining Ship02), although it is completely optional. My ID is 10066062. Just copy that number, and paste it in the box. Then, click the left box to begin. That's it!
You'll now be prompted to create your first character! I hope you found this guide helpful, and I wish you the best of luck (and fun!) on Phantasy Star Online 2! My ingame PlayerID is Soki Hideyasu, so if you ever see me around on Ship 02, say Hi! Enjoy the game!
note: upon logging in on a different device / ip its going to ask for a code, check your email you used to register your account to get the code!
They will ask you to make a PIN for the visiphone(basically marketboard), so please remember it or write it down somewhere. Its to keep your account(monies / items / etc) safe if compromised.
EXTRA helpful stuff to use! https://bumped.org/psublog/ - check this for maintenance schedules / patch notes / new items / costumes / events / emergency quest timers!
http://pso2.swiki.jp/ - JAPANESE database for items / costumes / emotes / etc all updated to latest (english db isnt updated I believe)
SPECIAL THANKS TO NICO OUR BOY FROM THE SOUTHEAST ASIA (SEA) REGION FOR THE HELP WITH PUTTING THIS TOGETHER, THIS WILL BE SUPER HELPFUL FOR PEOPLE. YOU DA BEST <3
If you start Phantasy Star Online 2 through the Friend Invitation System, you and your friend will receive many presents! When signing up, please enter the following details: Your friend's Ship: Ship02:Ur Your friend's Player ID: 13954523

10:10 a.m. a cold and rainy day - just put in 12 of you, one by one into Bcc - perhaps I should go to contacts, where I have noticed list is offered - who knows - I might even figure out how to do a list. Have been writing letters to some of you how horribly frustrating it is to be 84 and needing help for every small step - two year olds jiust do it - well I remember in Prague watching old women standing on top of an escalator not daring to use it - and the subways were built by Russian, very deep, very fast escalators - I never checked are there even stairs, or an elevator. In New York a group called I believe active disabled have achieved getting a lot of elevators - that I too prefer at Hudson Yards - on the New York West Side, West 34th Street where a millionaire paradise is going up - hundred of apartments costing millions - builders do not care if many stand empty, it's an investment for all the money they've made on our many wars - but a subway to get there was built at great cost, very deep, you need three fast escslators and especially at times when I reluctantly use a rolling suitcase - I am scared on these escalators. The reason I've been going there is to use Megabus to Amherst - that started out on 8th avenue, several buses a day, $10 for the ride, I was always offered a soap box to sit on, escorted first on the bus - then it went to 9th, then to 10th, now it's on 11th, almost in the river, nothing to sit on, no shelter from rain or sun, one or two buses a day - the 9 o'clock bus comes from Vermont and goes to 32nd and 7th ave to let passengers off and ast best is by 10 to take on waiting passengers who are urged to be 30 minutes early, so have been standing 90 minutes in rain, snow, hot sun - the young seem to love it - hardly made for a woman at 84 - and the cost now $20 plus - a very secret phone number to reserve, $5 extra - the young on their smart phones, reserve, csncel, reserve again, flash their cell phone - I am given on the phone about 20 numbers and the driver is hesitant to let me on - brace new world. Only for the most intrepid of the disabled in wheel chairs - but access they must be given, first, holds things up another 15 minutes - and it's only for the feisty - but - there are some some. In nyc indents for the disabled have been made at every side walk crossing - mostly used by zooming bicycles, now the silently motorized by battery, considered eco friendly - no bicycle in nyc ever has a bell, they zoom at top speed by you grazing you - many disabled scooters also go at some 25 miles an hour - buses travel at 5 miles an hour, terrible congestion - then of course there are the fast roller scaters, scate boards, also motorized by now - it is a pretty wild city - Steve W. assured me: they have better reflexes than you have - I hope so - terrorized jumping out of their way - which is said to be wrong. Almost every body I know has gotten hit - a miracle I have not been hit yet. Well. all my virtuous friends - good decent people who don't write horrible stuff - are in church at this moment, confessing to God they are sinners - I think in Latin something like mea culpa, mea grandissima culpa, in Polish - their churches are full - moje vyna, moje vyna, in English I have sinned, greatly sinned - in Germany I've most rarely been to church and then it was still Latin in the Catholic churches - well I guess it's a good idea to confess to your brothers and sisters whst a great sinner you are and asking God for forgiveness. When I was in Prague people still confessed to a priest - and when my Catholic childhood friends went to their first confession they were given a list of sins to confess and I puzzled with them what adultery meant - and a number of others sins helping them to figure out what they should confess. Still, I was envious of them, they were in the vast majority, I was alone, an outsider - and alone and an outsider I am to this day. A lonely sinner. I hope confessing on what now is a blog - though I still need Molly to help ignorant old me figure out how to tell people how to get to the blog, she sent me written instructionsd I cannot figure out - terribly frustrating. Our first two sessions were wonderfully long sessions and I learned so much talking to this wise far beyong her years 23 year old - and mistakingly believed she had more time than she does - volunteering, working three job, performing and time consuming travel from and to Brooklyn. I just wrote to her - yes, skeletal Ken was wonderful and we loved our long Thursday afternoons - he came at 12 and left at 7 - alas he was already deadly ill when he first came - and Molly is young and strong and brilliant. Ken, Ken - how many times did he show me to write this in word, to double space it, how to transfer from word to email - yes, the two year olds do it with ease - and I - well I love computers - but my senses alas are not really geared to them. In theory I know it all - practice is something else. Our Goethe also had something a bout grey theory and difficult practice. It's freezing here - I have a shawl my daughter in law knitted for me on my knees I am wearing a down jacket and still, my hands are cold. How could such a terrible heating system ever been constructed - I've long expected stupidity to become the end of mankind. Oh yes, and by the way, yesterday's blog ended in the middle of a word - C.B. m - because suddenly the weirdest images appeared, I had no idea how to get rid of them and reminded me of a woman called Susie, she has died, who believed the computer actually being God and giving her important mussages - well I was about to write something possibly nasty about C.B.and the wise computer put a fasrt end to it and I quickly sent what was there before that might disappear altogether - I was much calmer writing on my wonderful Olivetti Lettera - what I had written was there on paper, reliably - and then I would go to the the copy shop and make 50 copies and then I had 50 labels and always bought interesting stamps - and one German friend ? would return the letter, grammer corrected, underlined in red and in big letters: do not send any more of these horrible mass mailings - send a letter addressed to me. Well, at least I heard from her - two or three might respond - yet often much later I would meet one in the street, enthusiastically embracing me and telling me how wonderful my letter had been and please send more - and so - when Ken came into my life and at least learned email I loved with a click to be able to send it to hundreds - and now that it is a blog, that Ken warned me of - Ken, I promise to be careful My hands are freezing. Many of you even if you started probably have long stopped reading. I should be in church. But with no one to talk to - and when I love talking, I do love talking and have many times been told to shut up - and please, either get depressed again or take pills that will make you shut up - have you no shame - do you ever listen to anyone  else - and as it happens, I do. I am aware I am loved for listening, not for talking. This has been made amply clear to me by the virtuous - who love to hear their own important voices - they are saying something of meaning and importance - not babble by an old biddy - and if I may so, I have a lot more kind interest in people than I do. What still went through my mind - using initials rather than names, to be cautious as Ken recommended - this is turning into something like a roman a clef - there is a key as to who C.B. is, who M.H. is - and many I won't even mention by initial - those whose friend I want to remain. I will not give you the key - that is what the tedious students of literature will - should any of my writing ever become seen as literature. Well, some of what I have written so far already would be labelled subversive under a dictator - and Krugman in the NYT yesterday obliquely sufggested how easy for governments it is to orgsanize a terrorist attack and then declare a state of emergency - he called it "a power grab" he suggested will happen - and all I can say: be prepared. Perhaps not the best of times to go public with my writing - but then again luckily I'm still the tiniest of fish - even though not long ago cops stopped me on an empty road in New Hampshire - emptied by the bypass that was made - and when ignorant me began to open the door of my rented car with Massachusetts plated - two jumped out of their cars guns drawn, yelling - do not move - when I produced my driver's licence they sneered: New York driver, no wonder she csnnot drive - caution stopped them from commenting on the Jewish name - then I was interrogsted, where was I coming from, what was I doing on this road, where I was going, my answers producing sneers, then the disappeared into their car to study me on their computer, ordering me not to move - some 30 or more minutes later returned: we are bering kind to you and letting you go away with a warning - I much thanked them and as humbly as I could muster asked what sin I had commited: you made an illegal turn. I had been on a small road only used by locals, had passed some bored high school kids, they had called the cops - all of them totally bored - enjoying to find a danferous old woman with an accent - and being so wonderfully kind and professional - keeping America safe! Yes, you can be white, Protestant, I was baptized Lutheran as a precaution in 1943 - an American - but this is a country of xenophobis and I had another very unpleasant incident of that sort on a train heading for New York - where I was tsken for a German tourist - I always have my passport on me - when I produced it, great suspicion it was fake. Well, I was still going to comment on those in church - they have told me I am too loud, too self centered, too overbearing, a nasty maniac - she writes!!!! - yes I write, and with no one to talk to I also write about how insulting they are, how heartless, how hurtful - even in nyc - my "friends" are xenophobes, anti-Semites - and what is the word for people who cannot stand old people = there must be some word too. My s5 iPhone rang, 508 - what could that be - Eastern Mass as it turns out - a person who does not want to mentioned in this here blog - and so it goes  - it's noon - I am hungry, but my decoration teeth have fallen out - hopefully tomorrow at 9 either Maggie of the dentist will be there - I can barely drink coffee - all this would never have happened - had I had a good doctor who would have warned me of the side effects of those beta blocker pills whose name I keep forgetting - it seems they keep my veins open to allow the blood to flow to prevent a stroke - but it seems they also acidified my saliva - my dentist told me long ago - three women doctors, all the nurses gave me dire warnings of going off these pills and now I'cve taken them 7 years and and my veins must be used to them - but my teeth are history - until now I've had a bridge - but he said I would havce to go to denture - not a happy prospect - but these keep falling out - not very happy either two Chinese just arrived, speaking this mysterious language  - now a good doctor would have warned me of side effects - also loss of balance, falls - and suggested weight loss, exercise and checking my blood pressure - and I would be in much better shape today - good doctors - a privilege of the rich - who then can boast in what great shape they are at 105.
