BSD 108 – Will DoA arc be like Avengers Infinity War & Endgame?

Hello~~~

Omg this chapter was sooo delicious – me Fyodor stan having time of my life xD His performance and his final words mocking Sigma was 10000/10 – he is truly fascinating and complex villain, I love him xD

OK, let’s get serious XDD

For some time I was wondering how Asagiri intends to finish this arc... Everything indicate that it will end soon, but at the same time given how OP Fukuchi and Fyodor are in their respective fields – some deus ex machina for ADA to win would be unsatisfactory to me honestly. Initially I thought that Bram or Aku will take over and regain control of all vampires and stop Fukuchi, but… after this chapter looks like there is no time for that xD

So I think DOA’s plan won’t be stopped at all, but they will achieve what they want just like Thanos in Avengers Infinity War.

By this I mean that DOA will succeed and create temporary reality – first using One Order to destabilize current world and then using the Book to create new one without abilities. Symbolically, destruction and rebirth always go hand in hand and you can’t have one without another.

Then we will get time skip and Endgame equivalent – our characters living in new world and getting that something is wrong and need to be changed. Maybe reality without abilities would not be so peaceful, who would have guessed that xD Also maybe there will be some rip-off effect of changing reality or some enemy will appear, who guards canon timeline xD Possibilities are endless – it just depends on what Asagiri has in mind and what story he wants to tell.

After all, the core of the story is that abilities are not source of evil and are just part of everyone’s self as projection of fear/greed/anger/and so on. Though world without abilities would be tempting to some characters, which abilities were partly source of suffering - like to Atsushi, who was hesitating whether DOA plan should be stopped. But still, negative traits are still part of everybody and they just need to be balanced by good ones and choices to be better person.

Other random thoughts related to chapter:

Fyodor’s seizure to words ‘help me’ didn’t look fake and it reminded me of how N tried to take control of Verlaine in SB. But I guess it was just temporary and Fyodor regained control and used it to fool Sigma. Ofc it can be that he faked all - we will see if there is more to it or not. Btw I still believe that Fyodor’s backstory is akin to Verlaine or Chuuya – that he was tampered artificially by military to get powerful ability and he started to resent world and abilities because of that. Personality disorder would be indeed cliché and it was already done once in 55 Minutes LN, so I hope that Asagiri has something more interesting for Fyodor in store.

Gogol where are you 👀 I wonder if he is author of the note and that he simply wanted to sabotage Fyodor xD he is character with much potential, I hope he wasn’t just in this arc to set up duel between Dazai and Fyodor in this arc

Me Bram confusion😵 previous chapter pretty set up Bram rejecting passivity and trying to fight for Aya’s future. But this one kinda backed out of this, so I am not really sure where his arc is leading to for now xD but maybe some heroic act later on

Though depending on how things will go - self-sacrifice will suit Fukuchi or Mori too as a way to undo their wrongdoings. Again, possibilities are endless.

Fukuzawa’s state – still I would say it is 50/50 given how healing abilities work whether Asagiri needs character to live or not. Nonetheless, I was expecting his death for a while and it is more plausible option for story sake – Ranpo just needs some character development and Asagiri often use mentor’s death for that. Imo Kunikida as next ADA director was red herring and Ranpo fits better for that role given Agency’s orgin.

Btw i don’t think Sigma will die.

Ofc, it is just speculation and I am not 100% sure that story will go that way, since BSD tends to be so unpredictable. But imo Asagiri didn’t recently mention for no reason that he was inspired by Avengers and that ideally he wants one more season for anime too xD

Ok, the shrinkage issue. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 There’s this thing on YouTube, channel name Absolute Sci-fi, documentary called “Unmasking the most iconic figure to dominate horror movies: Robert Englund.” At about an hour and 50 minutes in, they talk about Fear Clinic. The cocoon scene is mentioned and how Robert pretty much just dropped all his clothes, and he’s all like “yeah, I’m old, I got man tits. I don’t care.” But also…it was VERY cold in the room. Certain parts went “inside, to live, where it’s warm.”

As lazy as he is, he can play some volleyball.

Just the basics though.

He usually throws the ball for you to receive and he'll be at the receiving end of your serves for practice.

Unlike Bakugou, he isn't loud and brash during your games, he's silently cheering you on. And he doesn't go about to sleeping it through either.

He watches at all times when you're on or off court.

His eyes sometimes train down to your exposed thighs and become memorized by the bounce of skin in each movement you make.

"Good good, My Kitten. Shall we celebrate this win later tonight? I have some papers to grade while you and the team do your own celebrating."

Heyo! It's me again (decided to do away with anonymity loll) XDD I was wondering, just out of curiosity of course, what Mairon's appearance is in "no better hope"? I imagined him to have a fur-lined dark coat in the style of the one that y'all reblogged for Finarfin, but I wasn't quite sure ... And is what colour is his hair? And skin tone? Thanks for putting up with my nitpicky questions! ^^;;;

OMG what a STRESSFUL and EXCITING ASK

So Mairon at times wears sort of a close-fitting deerskin coat, black or dark brown, flexible with many years of wearing.

Something like this without the colorful sash.

But notably he wears fur around his neck/shoulders-- a shifting configuration of pelts, depending on the season, or even a fur vest. In fall/winter, he might go with furs altogether.

Here are some relevant descriptions:

Celegorm stands, hand close to his holster. It is hard to recognize the shape that draws near as a man at first; it is too bulky about the shoulders. But the clouds have cleared away and the moon is shining, and in a spot of that moonlight, Celegorm sees—it is a man after all, and instead of a long coat he wears an opulent mass of furs wreathed around him.

His eyes are fixed on Celegorm—it is too dark to see them, but they are sunken in a pale, keen face. The hair that stretches past his shoulders, surprisingly sleek, is pale too. It is lighter than Celegorm’s own.

...

“Oh—like a vulture?” The man smiles, and his teeth are lighter than his hair and his face and Celegorm dislikes all the silver moonlight on him, drowned out though it is by the softness of his fur mantle.  He dislikes also the idea of a vulture—it makes him think of the buried bones.

So there, Mairon was basically shrouding himself in a fur cloak. We also know that he's very pale, with amber eyes (almost yellowy in some lights) and light blond hair.

When poor Mae first sees in him within the hollow crown, he's wearing leather:

Mairon steps into view. He does not wear his furs this morning, and is slight and long without them. He is clad instead in fine-tooled leather, and felted black cloth. His hair is braided at one temple, combed smooth across the other shoulder.

His eyes, as always, are like a tiger’s eyes.

Back down the hall. Gone are the chance and the dawn. Boots thunder, and there is Mairon, his furs seeming to stand on end around his neck and shoulders. Jem and Galway at his belt. A brush of scarlet across his cheekbones, too stark to be a blush.

He keeps "trophies" (scalps) at his belt, and of course, he later weaves the hair he took from Mae into his neck furs. So whenever he wears fur it's very bristly and full around the neck and shoudlers.

Blood-painted face optional.

Maedhros stiffens, and the manacles at his wrists clank. A sign of fear, and therefore, failure. He sees that written on Mairon’s still face when the man steps into view.

He has removed his heavy furs and his outer coat, and he wears a leather apron over his dark vest and breeches.

*gulp* least said about this scene the better, but the crucial point is that he's always wearing dark clothes and layers.

Mairon smiles, nearly close-lipped. The tip of an incisor peeks through. “Ah.” He shrugs, and in the light of day, Maedhros sees that the furs he wreathes around his shoulders are no longer solely black. Copper glints among the tufts of ebony—copper hair.

This is from the end of within the hollow crown, and then we get to no better hope--aka what you actually asked for--

He is taller than me, I think. I cannot tell if he is broader at the shoulders, for he is shrouded in a sort of pelisse of fur, both of black and of lighter colour.

So: no longer the mantle he was wearing in the woods, but a pelisse, which is a shorter cape. Fingon might be using it broadly here, but once more, neck & shoulders being all fitted out in a big black fur with--oh no--

Shows me red amid the black and tawny furs.

Not red so much as copper.

Hunters take trophies.

Those are not tufts of fur, about his throat. They are locks of hair—

Also it says he's wearing boots. But that's sort of a given.

When did you join the IT fandom? And what got you into fandom, to begin with?

Actually 23 years ago (haha I am old XD) When I was eleven I saw the miniseries with my cousins for the first time. The horror factor wasn't that important to me or maybe I didn't see it that way. It was more like an adventure story with an unfunny and nasty clown. A group of friends who had to endure an adventure. In any case, it entertained me well, even if I was not aware of some elements like that it’s a story about growing up, friendship, love and all these issues around becoming an adult XDD Then with 13 I read the book. It was a  new experience, and I loved every single word. Over the years I talked with friends and Kingsianer (XD) about it and read it for a second and a third time. At this point I could start a list with things I don’t like about the movies, but I’d rather mention on thing I really appreciate about them: they are a good opportunity for a new generation to explore this universe. Every adaption like the book itself is a reflection of a specific decade and what is more yeah… immortal, universal and diverse than a story about growing up. It was a discussion with a dear friend about book to movie adaptions some weeks ago that probably brought me back to this fandom

Nevertheless there are things from the book I would have loved to see in the movies. Let’s be honest at this point if you want to adapt such a brick of a book you simply have to cut some elements. You can’t please everyone

What are your favorite ships, or characters, if any, and why? What do they mean to you?

Ships:

Stanpat - orz q__q they are such a sweet couple and it is so heartbreaking, they never ever had a real chance to become parents. They would have been excellent parents. Imagine them on a beautiful summer day. They have a picnic with their children and Stan would watch birds with them. He would tell them all about the birds and keeps a journal about their observations with his kids

Reddie - Despite the constant teasing their realtionship seems like a natural, casual und easy thing from the start. And Eddie likes the nicknames. These secret names are like another identity. He can be someone else. They take care of each other. Their relationship is a deeper friendship that runs mostly on an emotional level and is sometimes expressed through small, physical gestures. The chemistry between them is indescribable. It is cute when 90s Eddie immediately starts to giggle as soon as Richie makes a dumb joke at their reunion. And thing about the little moments when Richie pokes Eddie and calls him cute. I am won’t quoting this one passage in the book that leaves much room for speculations, but there is no doubt their special bond is official. In any case, the decision to make Richie gay in the movies gave the ship another push. I don’t complain. I love it. Though I still think Eddie would have been a better option. There are already some scenes in the book which are like an invitation to speculate about his sexualityTheir chemistry is very obvious and believe me, there is nothing I would more appreciate than a happy end for them Q__Q

This is one of sweetest things I have ever read in a book and that is all I need to explain why I love this ship.

Fav, Characters:  Hmm when I read „IT“ for the first time I had a crush on Bill. He ist the born leader and in my childish, pre-teen way found his stuttering cute. There is something about him that cast a spell on you. It is perfectly understandable that he was a role model and an inspiration for his friends – especially for Eddie. In my personal opinion book!Bill ist the best Bill.

Richie - I love this chaotic megane dude. He is this silly type who use jokes, pranks to protect himself. His voices are like safe heaven (the same goes for Bill, whose stuttering almost disappears, when he pretends tob e someone else). He hides himself and his insecurities behind them. It is a shame that he doesn’t know what an impact he had on his friends. Richie seems to never ever shut up and sometimes his trashmouth is still talking, when he better should be quite. And I am famous to fall for funny characters. He can lights up the mood immediately ( and OMG…. I love Harry Anderson in the miniseries. A real entertainer, BUT BILL HADER…. Bill Hader…just to make it clear BILL HADER  did such an amazing job. He rocked the movie and I still think, not just because I love this dude since over a decade, without him… the movie wouldn’t  have been so entertaining)

Eddie - He is in these abusive relationships. First with his mother, who keeps him small and makes him believe that he is weak. At the end her own fears of beeing left behind prevented her son from becoming a self-confident adult. Eddie always thought he is weak and fragile. Although he knows that he doesn’t need all this medication, his childhood experience were the reason for his coping-behavior as an adult – he still uses his inhaler. He married a woman who is like his mother. Mike's call was something of a turning point. Until this call Eddie could not overcome his fears and had to face them again as an adult. I can remember. While reading the book there were several moments of silence and I stopped reading and thought: poor Eddie.

Ultimately, his story is about a hero who surpasses himself, overcomes his fears and by sacrifice himself he protects what is most important to him - his friends. It just touched me. Eddie gave his life for his friends and I think you can say he's my favorite character. His death may be a tragedy, but it was necessary for his character arc. My theory is that Eddie represents someone who has lost track in his life and prefer to stick on old but unhealthy patterns.It is almost like Eddie stands for missed opportunities, but at the same time it is never to late to change something. He is a hero. There are so many things I would like to talk about, therefore I should start an own thread XDDD

Oh and Bev - I could always identify with her (not bc of abuse or domestic violence. My childhood was amazing). She is the only girl around the losers and I was the only girl in my  favourite clique too. We spent most of our time outside  - it was great. Of course I had other friends (female) as well, but with my boys… it was always special).. As you know as an adult she falls back in old patterns. Her husband is tyrannical man like her father. Again Mike’s call is a turning point.  Maybe the Benverly arc is the most satisfying. I was… I am very happy that Bev got her happy end.

Last but no least - I like Ben, Mike and Stan too. They have all there unique character treats and you sympathize with all of them. The Loser’s club is bunch of adorable idiots who just doing their best to become adults. I think it is normal that their friendship feels more intimate in the book – I highly recommand the book.

Oh… unfortunately I am not feelin‘ very confident about my own artworks. Sometims I have the feeling I am not creative enough and that my ideas are more or less boring. Whooohoo!! Let’s start off with 1.Nutrition!! Everyone seems to be misguided by what the fuck should we be eating and how much. Do not fear! I have resources! After a year of continued collaborated research in keto, paleo, and carnivore, my fiancé and I have found that one of the most healthiest and well rounded lifestyles out there are the three I mentioned above. While they are tough in the first month due to additives in our foods to make us addicted to crap. Carbs are like Diesel fuel is to a four door Sedan. What, you say? Yea, your car might run but it won’t run good and it’s bad for your car to run fuel that doesn’t even match the vehicle type. Now imagine you switch to the best fuel, now for your body, that’s fat :) Animal fat, oils, butters (avocado oil, avocados, coconut oil, beef suet, bone broth, ghee butter, etc). Check up this highly regarded doctor, Paul Saladino and he will tell you everything. Do you have issues sleeping or skin issues? Check. Him. Out. I promise 🙏🏻 2. OVERWATCH ECHO OMG! So I’m a liiiiiiiiiiil’ disappointed that she a dps than a support cause everyone knows we need more supports and not dps lol there are more dps than tanks and support numbers combined and yet the developers want us to play more support and tank while they nerf us to the ground. I am exciting of her ult capabilities however! Definitely be using that to my advantage! I’m at a point in overwatch where I love to just tilt people as a support. My favorite support to use is Ana or Moira, just send that damage orb into the room and you die LOL POTG right there, did it to a hog last night, kept sending a damage orb to the room he was at every time he was low and hate messaged me after we won, that’s a huge victory for Moira mains xD idc what people say about Moira, I love her and y’all just bad, she easy to kill. I swear my fingers have aimbot for Moira cause as widow, I just headshot her constantly 😂. 3. Fate/Grand Order, I’m super new to the fandom, like I’m the meme with the guy holding the pizza and walks into the room full of fire and destruction lol I’m enhancing my buddies (I dislike using the word, servant, like I know that’s the game lingo and I’m the “master” but...LOL NO. I’m just focusing on side quests rn before I continue and master missions (also daily quests and enhancing the fuck out of my buddies). I’m very conservative over my saint quartz over seeing so many memes about not having any xDD hit me up!!! Okay, now the big topic, 4. Unemployment spike, lots of you should know that the US hit up to 30 MILLION people unemployed due to the pandemic, here are some tips in case you are one of the victims affected. Doordash is hiring, just literally sign up and they deliver you a bag, your card, download the app and you’re ready to go. Grub hub, Uber eats, they are hiring and in big demand! To keep track of your mileage, use free apps in stores that do it for you! You get tax deductions for the miles you drive. Some Safeway’s are hiring right now too! I’ve seen them posting! Selling stuff you don’t need like a random electronic, cable, book. Half price books will buy your book. Academic books costs a good amount of money, up to 80$ alone depending on the material. SO LET’S TALK ABOUT THE NEW SANDERS SIDES VIDEO

This is gonna be a long post. I have a lot of thoughts about this episode. There is going to be some serious talk about my own personal experiences with violent intrusive thoughts and also me just appreciating this amazing episode. 

I was one of the people that was convinced it was going to be about depression. I am so glad it wasn’t. A lot of people have talked about depression, but no one, at least as far as I know, have really touched upon intrusive thoughts. I had the exact same dilemma as Thomas last year where I thought I was going insane because I couldn’t control my own brain and I had a horrible mental breakdown and I was convinced I was a horrible person because of my intrusive thoughts. I cried and talked to people about it and through doing so it was made clear to me that these intrusive thoughts were just that, thoughts. Nothing more. They hold nothing over me. I still suffer from them, but now I know what they are.

I was also certain there wasn’t going to be another side introduced. It’s been a year since Deceit was introduced, we’ve only just gotten to know Deceit a little better, there won’t be another side. BOY WAS I WRONG

The episode starts with Thomas, Virgil and Patton trying not to think about the intrusive thoughts he was having that kept him awake. I have intrusive thoughts like that all the time. I vividly imagine my family members dying, or even myself dying. I vividly imagine someone breaking into the house and killing me. My brain does what Virgil and Patton do, freak out and try to think about something else. This video has made me realise how much I repress thoughts like that.

My anxiety also makes me have intrusive thoughts. Whenever I have an anxiety attack I vividly imagine myself killing myself in gory detail because I’ve gotten into this cycle of hating myself whenever I have an attack. I get scared, what if I lose control one day and these thoughts become reality?

I love how the audio became muffled and the intrusive thought creeped in. I like to think of the mind like a radio, tuning in and out of different frequencies, and sometimes, or most of the time like for me, you can’t control the frequencies it jumps to. And suddenly you’re imagining your loved one being killed or dying.

These lyrics are amazing. They encapsulating what I was thinking when I had really bad intrusive thoughts. I still have them, but when I first started noticing I had them I spiralled so far down. “What if this is who I am...what if I’m not the nice person I think I am?”

I wasn’t expecting religious imagery. I really love that. I don’t relate to the religious ideas brought up in this episode as I am not religious, but I do love the fact that he talked about them. Also, when Deceit said, “Wow, Thomas, it seems that your moral compass is pointed south, towards hell!” that was definitely foreshadowing for Thomas to spiral into this. That’s why Patton reacted so viscerally to that comment.

I love this part so much. It calls back to when Roman almost called Virgil paranoid, but then switched it to vigilant. Logan realised he was getting too worked up and angry and so stopped himself. This is great development from when he lashed out at Roman in Learning New Things About Ourselves. Calling Virgil “paranoid” is destructive and will make Virgil not feel listened to. He is aware of that. He is making sure Virgil still feels like he’s a valued part of Thomas’ mind.

Virgil was right. Not all thoughts are meaningful.

This idea is what helped me better deal with intrusive thoughts. Your brain just fires random thoughts at you, they don’t necessarily mean anything.

I mean, look at him now! He barely got any rest due in large part to you two chastising him all night!

I love how Logan tells them off. UGH I LOVE HIM

And that is why the Duke feels like such a threat, in part, at least. The feeling that you may be a bad person who doesn’t have control over yourself or your destiny, causes you to fear that you may actually act on these thoughts.

Gosh this episode is hitting me hard.

Logan’s soft voice as he said that made me emotional. His whole speech here is so lovely and helpful. It is okay to have these thoughts cross your mind. You are not a horrible person.

His talk about going to therapy is amazing too. It’s so inspiring. It has encouraged me to want to go back to the therapy because of my recent increase in violent intrusive thoughts.

There are some really hard hitting lines in this episode.

I’m a little disappointed in myself.

The others. I thought I knew how to handle them.

Yeah, but, I should know better.

Because I was one of them.

Virgil being insecure about his power and how much he can protect Thomas almost makes me cry. That last line...oh my goodness. Thomas and his team really know how to write a narrative. It seems that we’re gonna get some lore and backstory at some point after all.

Thomas and his team have done such a good job with this episode. It is my favourite Sanders Sides by far because of the fact that this topic has not really been talked about much, and they talked about it and showed what it’s like so brilliantly. I respect Thomas so much for pushing the boundaries of his channel to talk about this. Thank you, Thomas. I and and so many people needed this.

I realise that I need to go back to therapy. Thank you, Logan for encouraging me.

[Prologue] A sober Hibari apologises for his drunken behaviour and waxes poetic about the sweetness of your lips. Since that night, you have exceeded his expectations and made a name for yourself in Yoshiwara - mastering all the basic skills from tea ceremony to literacy..

He regrets his own myopia in using you as a chesspiece in his game. As the #1 male oiran, he thought that he could resist the charms of any girl. But the human heart is unpredictable, and he has developed real feelings for you...

Hibari visits your room and informs you to get ready to make your debut. You're all like (���_ಠ) ,... but before that, he has an important announcement to make:

Once you take your first client, the Game would officially begin. He confesses the whole setup and rules of the game to you, as well as the rumours that led to its conception.

Legend has it that a race of mermaids with the blood of the Happyaku-bikuni [link] possess superhuman life force, and their tears can bring eternal life and prevent death. However, the mermaid saviour has to pay the price of losing her voice forever. (Now where have I heard this idea before⁇ *cough*TheLittleMermaid*cough*)

During the Normanton Incident [link], a merchant vessel capsized near Kishuu-oki (present-day Wakayama). All the foreign passengers were saved but the Japanese passengers perished. This was chalked up to racial discrimination, but insiders claim that the ship was overturned by mermaids plotting to rescue *one of their own* who was aboard the ship.

After you floated ashore to the fishing village where you grew up, rumours spread among the locals that *you* are the passenger mermaid who caused the shipwreck. Out of fear of further angering the mermaids, they avoided publicly discussing the subject.

A local fisherman, your step-father, noticed that you are a good-looking child. He took you in and raised you, planning to sell you off to some brothel once you reach a suitable age and fetch a good price. This is where Hibari comes in: he found your step-father after much investigation and sent a pimp his way to acquire you.

Hibari planned and joined in his own game for the purpose of raising Yoshiwara's profile in the public eye and bringing in more business. His efforts have attracted five other participants from wealthy and powerful backgrounds. Hence, he himself has no interest in the veracity of the legend nor in eternal life. His only aim is for the other players to fight over you and create a tabloid-worthy sensation.

As such, your best bet now is to end the game a.s.a.p. and find one of the participants (excluding him) to marry yourself off to - in this sense both of you have a common goal, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to help you.

...After hearing all this, you are visibly shaken and can't even concentrate on your flower arranging lesson anymore. Hibari is all like 'SON I AM DISAPPOINT' and sends you off to bed. He's all confused because he thought you would be happy to be leaving Yoshiwara soon...?

Next day, he gives you a pretty dress and sends you to some steak restaurant to learn how to use a knife and fork... with Sakurai Takahiro('s character). Meanwhile he stays behind to see a client. Having to part with him for a day makes you a #sadpanda, so he decides to come and cheer you up when you get back.

You come home late, and he feigns cheerfulness when he hears that you got along well with Ta-kun. 'Everything is going according to plan... but why does it make me angry when I imagine her smiling at some other dude?' *punches wall RAWR*

The time has finally come, he announces that you will receive your first client: Sakurai Takahiro('s character). BUT... his announcement gets hijacked by a gang invasion - it's the shady characters from an earlier episode, here for the mermaid tears. Hibari beckons you to run and tell the guards, while he stays behind and buys time for your escape.

He trash-talks the bad guys, and they slash him with their katana and flee. (I imagine their thought process was something like: 'OMG does this guy EVER shut up??? *stab stab*) As he lay dying, he mocks himself: for giving up his own life to save you, yet not being able to confess his feelings to you directly. 'And so it is. My mad skillz are useless when faced with the woman I truly love.'

Later, you come back and tell him that the gang have been captured by the guards. With his last breath, he confesses that he's always loved you. He's glad to have protected you and confident that you will do just fine on your own. With trembling lips, you grant him one final kiss... and your tears touch his mouth. In that instant, he became... THE HULK!!!!

...No srsly. After a month-long sleep, he wakes from a dream where his body is getting dissolved by the waves of the ocean. To his great shock, you've lost the ability to speak. He becomes emotional and laments why you made such a huge sacrifice and chose a scumbag like him, instead of the other more eligible game participants.

He confesses his love for you and says that he can't imagine continuing his job as oiran and embracing other women ever again. He proposes that the two of you to escape from Yoshiwara and start a new life somewhere far away. Of course, you agree, and he makes a pinky promise to spend the rest of his life making you happy.

(He also takes your virginity,... but never mind about that XD.)

And thus, with his life savings as Top Host, the two of you begin a semi-nomadic life, skipping town every time rumours/scandals of the Yoshiwara escape start to spread. At the end, Hibari says that the day you saved his life was a rebirth for him. 'While I may not have a hometown, I will always have a home - which is wherever you are.'

[Thoughts] Let’s be real here, Hibari is kind of a dick. I mean, I would’ve accepted if he had believed the legend and sought Nanami out in order to obtain eternal life. That would have been a more excusable reason than ‘creating a scandal to attract business’. He almost forfeited Nanami’s future and *whole life* purely for his little publicity stunt. In that sense it’s not too much to ask that he almost sacrificed his life for her.

That said, the scene where he was dying and asking for a last kiss really got me. Toriumi sounded like he was really dying XDDD. (Noooo Sensei pls don’t die T_T) His emotional outburst after waking up and finding out that Nanami has lost her voice is also really touching and almost made me forget that IT’S ALL HIS FAULT.

On another note, I took the time to research a bit into the historical accuracy of the story, because (1) Nanami seemed a bit old to be a trainee, and (2) she was allowed to stay in Yoshiwara for many months without receiving any clients or making any money. Fwiw, trainees had a wide age range, although after the Edo period they were generally expected to serve clients during their training period. So... thanks Rejet for protecting your chastity, I guess?

Although there’s still the question of convention - a male oiran taking on a female shinzou - and the way Hibari talks: referring to himself as 「俺」 and using informal speech (あんなもんじゃねぇ, etc.), which does not seem to match the high-class etiquette and prestige of the oiran.

(To be fair, ‘high-class’ isn’t exactly a concept that I would associate with Toriumi’s characters - they usually give off the impression of being dignified cool on the surface and perverted wild at heart, kind of a 「裏腐設定」 if you will XDD.)

All things considered, this is still one of if not the best story I’ve come across of recent note. I will definitely be looking into the other discs of this series - esp. Guy #4 voiced by Shimono Hiro, the (psycho?) dollmaker who wants to make a lifelike replica of the heroine.

Impressions on Clear Card Chapter 33

I’d like to start my recap of chapter 33 of Clear Card with an “abridged panel” from this chapter (allow me this spoilerish thing)

I think this will be VERY useful in my recap and reactions, in the future XD Without further ado, let’s delve into a chapter made of mad cuteness and mad...madmen, period. Under the cut!

OH DUCK!OISE

So we start the chapter with a GORGEOUS SPLASH PAGE. I was SO HAPPY to see those 4 all together in one splash page....and dressed up so prettily, even! I love all of them, each in their own way, so for me this was a TOP NOTCH illustration! Syaoran and Sakura especially, they’re so beautiful! <3 The we are presented with a nice tea-time at the Shinomoto house, with the new product of Kaito’s housewife mornings: DAQUOISE! Such a fancy pastry omg...I didn’t even know about its existence, and it’s french! CLAMP are really outdoing themselves with the patisserie references XD  I’ll just confess I laughed like a fool at Akiho’s misunderstanding:

GIRL! The fuck? XD  DUCKoise, seriously??? XDDD

Omg the awkwardness of this cinnamon roll knows no limits...she’s so funny in her embarassing moments...and Kaito trying to subtly steer her towards the correct origin of the word duckoise  daquoise....and even saying “No, it’s true, they look like the beak of a duck”.

KAITO.....I know you don’t want to let your little miss down but...WHERE?? X,DDDD

But the fun is soon over.

Akiho mentions wanting to “remember more things” and that triggers in Kaito a painful look. Then he tries to smile, but it’s all ruined when he senses something out of their home and he leaves the living room to check.

Akiho doesn’t buy, not even for a second, his excuse to go fetch some plum jam. She’s very worried about him. And, just like Sakura, she might seem naive and clumsy but the person she loves doesn’t escape from her sight. If something is wrong with him, she’ll notice right away. After this, there’s a very powerful scene that I bet will look awesome in animation. It seems that Kaito rejects an attack from the magical Association.

With his usual smug face (this guy...) he says that as long as they keep not using time magic in fear of wrecking their bodies (or even dying), it doesn’t matter if they attack him all together at the same time: the result will always be the same, that is, he will stop time and therefore stop their attack easily too. And then, just as easily, break it. And that's what he does. At what cost though? We see it: his hand with the watch “flickers” for a moment. Like he’s vanishing or something. I think this is a direct consequence of time manipulation, the one Momo so much fears: it started when Akiho said she saw Kaito a bit tired lately, and now we see this. Kaito is calm, composed, almost resigned to that fate, but he hopes Sakura can produce the card he needs, this time. I think he is starting to feel the pressure of having “little time” left. And he adds something very important: he expected the Association would try something again, because they know their magical artifact is nearing completion. This both scares me and makes me very curious. Did they want to take Akiho back? What will happen when the artifact is complete? In all of this, one thing is clear: the Association needs to stay the f*ck away from Akiho.

KAWAII FEST

We completely change the atmosphere, going to Syaoran’s home and the little mess that is happening right now: he became A BABY!!!  But while we scream our heads off for his utter CUTENESS, can we also please focus on this

JFC SAKURA! Not even in the Yukito-crush days I saw you fangirling like this! XDDD

She became a total mess, a total mess. I MEAN, ALL OF US DID but seeing it in her is so GOOOOOOD!! XD

I loved it. She definitely had her wish granted, and she made sure to take it all in (”So this is how he looked when he was little!”).

It was also hilarious to see Syaoran all serious while being so *cute and puffy*, do you get me? XDD

Thankfully Sakura gets out of the fawning and decides to spare Syaoran (who was visibly becoming quite embarrassed with the situation and her fangirling, his little cough while we was rolling the pants legs was so hilarious) of this any longer, and captures the card. I can say with confidence that this card, Rewind, is the new fandom favorite, right?XD

But just like at Shinomoto’s home, the fun is soon over. When Syaoran is finally going to tell Sakura to stay the hell away from Kaito, his voice doesn’t come out. He tries to write what he wants to say down on a notepad, but his hand doesn’t move. Kaito used a spell to literally shut him up about him or Akiho.

Syaoran’s blood runs cold.

He knows, he knows all too well that just like in his case, Kaito would make anyone else shut up about the matter. He’s strong after all. Cutting up his communications with Eriol was one thing, but this is affecting directly his ability to help Sakura out. Because if he can’t tell her, she will not know to beware of him.

And like all the other times, like his counterpart in another dimension too, when Syaoran panics he is immediately longing for her arms. And when I say “immediately”, I mean it. Look at the table between them. He climbs on it in order to reach for her. It doesn’t matter that with this move he unbalances her and she has to put a hand on said table to not fall down. He needs to hold her tight to reassure himself that she’s still there, in his arms, and that nobody is going to hurt her or take her away from him. His precious jewel. The light of his life that he longed for so long. This is Syaoran screaming “You will not take her away from me, butler”. I found this scene particularly strong. Yes, it’s cute and doki-doki, but I can also feel the utter desperation in Syaoran’s gesture and body language. I can feel the raw emotions, you know? The passion in this gesture. And this seems to me totally the old Syaoran we all know. The one that sometimes acted out of instinct, the one that couldn’t hold his emotions in. This is exactly what Yue and Kero wanted for him some chapters ago :)

Oh, but the best is yet to come. The best is THIS. My queen.

CAN YOU SEE THAT? CAN YOU SEE THE FIRE IN HER EYES? CAN YOU SEE HOW FIERCE IS MY BABY GIRL?

Ok, LET’S ANALYZE THAT. We know Syaoran was stopped from telling her about Kaito, and we know that as of now, she’s got no doubts about him. So this can’t be about Kaito. In my opinion, this face is both exciting and scary. At the same time. In the matter of one hour, she aknowledged the origin of the Clear Cards, she understood that it all depends on her ability to govern her power, and she even saw the proof in front of her eyes. Here Syaoran told her “No matter what happens, I’m going to protect you”. Do you want to know what I think is running through her mind?

“This has to stop. I am gonna be the one protecting you from all this mess that keeps troubling you”.

Because of course she saw that something is still wrong with him. She saw that he couldn’t talk. She probably thinks that it’s still somehow connected (but not caused by) to the mess of her powers. And this makes her angry. Look at how she’s clutching his shirt.

This is Sakura FINALLY taking the wheel and promising to herself to do something about it. To not let anyone, Syaoran, the Sakura Cards or Eriol be involved/troubled with her mess anymore. Syaoran already risked his life trying to govern the Sakura Cards, and that’s where Sakura draws the line.

The problem is, will Sakura decide to do everything on her own? Even when things will definitely become dangerous? Sakura does indeed have the tendency to alienate herself when there’s a troubling situation, to not risk other people’s life (Clone Sakura, I’m looking at you, too).

You just don’t know how much I look forward to see how things will develop from now on. Now she knows. And after the first moment of shock, she is now ready to face this with a new resolution.

History! I was fascinated of past times very early. When I was a child, middleages and stuff pretty much scared me but through that fear grew a deep interest and out of this interest grew an even deeper passion and here I am now studying it :D On my 2nd tumblr @renaissance-prinzessin I spam post a lot of history content :D Oh and I write. xD

Well, Miyuki is in heaven but I’ll still dedicate this to her: You were wonderful. You didn’t made Sailor Moon just come to life, you put love in every single performance and transmitted all feelings to the audience with such a warm energy that it is always a pleasure and honour to watch your performances. I get never tired of watching them again and again. I hope you are happy where you are now but let me tell you that you can be really proud of what you did. You were not only an enrichment for the whole Sailor Moon franchise but also for my life and I just can not thank you enough for that.

Okay so I gushed about my DnD characters, so tell me about yours *.* :)

Oh well, oh well xDOk so there's actually like one - because I started playing D&D (again) half year back (and it's still a single really long campaign... :'D we see each other once a week in art class so that's may be the reason why it's taking us so long) and I wasn't playing anything for two years before. Or some really small and fast campaigns without much time for character building (as it was mostly with two classmates at end of year/school trips we didn't even used proper dices...). And campaigns before was more of storytelling (kids you know) with some what will you do next. So that's about it... No character I would like to recall. Since this campaign really started like omg you like D&D me too, no shit me as well, hey guys are you talking about D&D, let's play. We rushed start as well and my character is sort of self intrigued. Basically more character details started appearing while playing. Ok so she's a she (wow...) her name is Rastislava and she's human (note: originally was elf bc friend who's playing as well has OC heavily based on me *pleased noises* and she's weird crazy elf and lot of people refer to me by the OC name so I wanted to go with spirit but then another guy joined and took elf and we wanted diverse group and I just didn't want to be elf with him so I changed it). And she's kejklíř (we are playing by official czech D&D rules and translations, so basically bard but like with less seduction - I want more seduction T_T they won't let me xD) and newly zaklínač as well (no clue how to translate basically I can bless or curse things/people - I'm mostly cursing xD)So she's sort of happy go lucky. Like to steal things not even because she needs it she just like stealing. As kejklíř she's a people person. But can't play any instrument (her wife could) not terrible singer (read: you don't want to die when you hear her but pleased you're not much) and dancing it's well just few dances which she must (again because of her wife). Also she's negotiating with the outside world for group (while rest of the group is doing strategic decisions) or talking everyone's assess out of trouble (more of trying to do, It's impossible). And when situation is calling for it she's not feared to literally jump at problem - yeah not much of fighter she's more in back of battle either cursing enemy or blessings group, if needed distracting opponent or in worst case scenario stealing while everyone is distracted by fighting. And sometimes she even fight - with sword, of course she has sword (it's stolen... she would stole even clothes from someone passing her in city - in fact she already did). And well beware of her daggers. Hmm I'm not sure with her looks yet. She has a big scar on thigh because she fell from bridge alongside with poleaxe stealed from guardian... (Long story xD). Long hair - they're mess. And she's you know czech saying krev a mlíko - so yeah not skinny :D and not fat either. Something between. Hmmmm eyes brown with green spots. Not sure about hair colour (deciding between brown or blond).And well the tragic back story xD She was living happy life with her wife - which was known everywhere as beautiful/talented/amazing and had important post at court. But then her wife was killed. And Rastislava did some shits (stealing crown... was worst) so she had to run from country (which she planned anyway) and somehow joined this group of people traveling somewhere and meeting weird people (gravedigger xDD) because being bard alone it's not that much fun. Oh well this is way longer than it should. Happens xD thank you for coming to my TED talk... xDDD

Aomine: - he would be 3x more terrified than you tbh and will not be able to hide it- will call quits 2 hours into the 5 hour movie marathon- *jump scare* “what the fuc-” *grabs his s/o’s thigh as a reflex* - “daiki i need to pee”- “i need to pee too ____”- “perfect we’ll go together so we can um, save electricity.”- “and uh, time.” *smirks at the thought of going to the bathroom with his s/o*- “yes good point.”- *strange noise* - “daiki what was that”- “im sure its nothing babe” *secretely loves how clingy his s/o has become* *also secretely scared shitless at the noise*

Kise: - will find you super adorable and will gladly accompany you everywhere- you clingy=him clingy- “careful not to astral project tonight, Ryota.” his s/o would say, secretely terrified of the idea herself. [reference to insidious hehe]- “its okay well protect eachother like this.” - will be the big spoon - “you’re so cuteee ____-cchi!” *bear hug*

Midorima: - “i don’t understand you at all.” he’ll say while shaking his head.- but will go through with it almost every time- will wake up groggily if you do in the middle of the night- with a big sigh will walk into the bathroom and ‘check for ghosts’

Murasakibara: - will legit make you feel so protected because his arms will loop around you, shielding you from all your fears- “i should’ve known ____-chin was scared when ____-chin stopped eating the popcorn.”- wont be able to sleep with all the lights on, will be very tired the next morning- refuses to do another marathon with s/o but will give in to persuasion if promised to be rewarded [preferrably with food]

Kuroko: - “i dont think watching horror movies are good for you, ____”- will follow you around if you ask him too but his lack of presence will probably end up scaring you even more- *taps s/o’s shoulder* - *s/o jumps into his arms* - *pats s/o’s head in attempt to comfort*

b - biggest fear: Main one is losing family members. I tend to worry about the deaths of others...a lot. And my own death, too. So I guess death in general is another fear of mine. Spiders, bees, and centipedes are big ones; I have SEVERE arachnophobia. There are others. Overall, I'm just...a very anxious person. jaskkssmfm

c - current time: 5:25pm

d - drink you last had: Dr. Pepper. God, I love that stuff. xD

e - every day starts with: Cereal and a few YouTube videos. Then, I go get changed and do my hair, and I either get a head start on my chores or work on a project of some sort. ^-^

f - favorite song: Aaaaah...man, it's hard to pick just one. It often changes because I love so many different individual songs and artists. Right now...I'd have to say my favorite song is Rise by Skillet. It's a song speaking out against the violence and terror that's taken over the modern world. It's about 'rising in revolution' and doing something to change our world for the better. The ending is chilling, HEARTBREAKING...but it REALLY drives the point home. Overall, the song is amazing. ❤

g - ghosts, are they real: YES. Without a SHADOW of a doubt. I have had too many bizarre experiences; I'd be lying through my teeth if I said I didn't believe. 👻

h - hometown: I'm a Pennsylvania girl. That's as much information as you're getting. xP

i - in love with: I'm not involved with anyone romantically right now. But in terms of PLATONIC love? My family - mom, dad, brother, grandma, family friends, cats - and all of my friends - Kaylee, Dania, Dylan, Julie, Jordan, Cosette, Puella, David, MeeShee...countless others. All of you. 💗💛💚💙💜

r - reasons to smile: My family and friends, my favorite cartoons - Gravity Falls, Invader ZIM, SpongeBob, Wander Over Yonder, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Villainous, etc. - various other cartoons, anything Disney, drawing, plushie making. good music, good books, good poetry, cosplay, videogames, arts and crafts, silly memes, starry nights, walks through the forest, rainy days, sunsets over the lake, autumn leaves, campfires, S'mores (I might have a thing about campfires and S'mores, in case my URL doesn't give that away...xD), pizza, pasta, ice cream, gummy bears, Fun Dip, sweet potatoes, corn, all things pumpkin, glitter, pastel colors, sprinkles, Halloween, plushies, cats, owls, pigs, penguins, dogs, moose...I could go on and on. I'm a very lucky girl. 😊

s - song last sang: Oh, God...well, I was watching videos of InvaderCON panels yesterday, and I ended up getting this little song stuck in my head...see, at one Q&A panel, Richard Horvitz pulled out a ukulele and began singing about Pustulio...to the tune of 'Rainbow Connection'. So, last night, while doing the dishes, I kept singing, 🎵 'Why are...there so many...zits...on my face?' 🎵 THANKS, RICHARD...xD (I love Richard Horvitz. omg)

t - time you woke up: Um...about half past noon, I think? It's a holiday; I slept in. 😝

w - worst habit: Biting my nails and forgetting to finish my chores. Oh, and not drinking enough. (Period. Like, not just 'not drinking enough water'; no, half the time, I forget to keep drinks by me while I'm working. I'm working on that, though. xD)

x - x-rays you’ve had: Hmmm...the only X-rays that come to mind are ones I've had done of my teeth. (I've had fillings and oral surgery done in the past. I also need braces. ahsjnsk)

y - your favorite food: ...Think I listed most of them in the 'reasons to smile' section, actually! But in all honesty...those aside...practically anything my mom makes. I LOVE her macaroni and cheese and the various cheesy casseroles she makes; they are ADDICTIVE. 👌
