Summary:

I love this game so much. I love it so much that I am heartbroken knowing that AA 5 & 6 butchers the story it setup and I'm considering not even playing them unless AA7 is announced. I love all the main characters so much, the whole story was so well built and I can def see the influence the story had on DGS. Apollo is such a good protagonist, he's relatable but also so unique. I love seeing his character progression in the game: a new attorney who is easily manipulated to a confident and determined attorney who trusts in his own judgement. I LOVED Klavier oh my god. I love how much he respects Apollo and although he doesn't hesitate to tease him, he doesn't bully or abuse Apollo in any way. They both have a mutual admiration and rivalry where they try to play as fairly as possible. Klav doesn't maliciously withhold or change evidence, but he does spend hours reviewing his arsenal and thinks of all the counter arguments the defense could bring up. I really like Apollo's ability, it continues the mystery and mysticism from the original trilogy but with new mechanics. I adore Trucy so much. She honestly might be my favorite AA character. She's determined, strong willed, and above all -- extremely silly. I couldn't of asked for a better character to be Phoenix's daughter. I also LOVE the sibling reveal at the end but gdi if only they actually figure it out T^T T^T. I think Apollo and Trucy's dynamic is probably my favorite Defense and assistant dynamic. This who game was so fun, I know 4-3 is not everyone's favorite and it is a little all over the place but I also enjoyed it and loved the premise. There's so much to say, I haven't even talked about Nick and Kris - what an incredible feud, what a genius development for Nick. I cannot recommend this game enough, I am so obsessed with it and cannot wait to make art <3 <3.

sammy: i have plenty in my head but i have one where he actually had a birthmark at the base of his spine that foreshadowed his first death at the end of season 2 but disappeared after he was brought back :) isaac: that he still kept in contact with the pack after he left to france at the end of season 3B 🙃 (i have so many thoughts and feelings about isaac not coming back for the rest of the show because we were ROBBED)

sammy: mmm my fav thing to do when im writing for sam is probably writing his mannerisms that i've noticed when watching the show or describing how absolutely gorgeous he is @_@ then my least favorite thing as of late is writing dialogue for him like idk why but he's been sounding ooc to me when i write him T_T isaac: my fav thing to do when writing for isaac is exploring his personality more in depth, i haven't written a lot for him just yet but i still want to explore his character (because the writers didn't) so idc if he seems ooc in the potential fics i write LOL i don't really anything that isn't my least favorite thing to write since i haven't written for him that much, but that'll change soon! I'll share a few fun facts regarding the story and scrapped ideas!

✧ before DRU was known as DRU, I considered a few alternative titles, two of which were: moray's banquet and feast of the moray eel. But both of these didn't seem nearly as catchy or memorable, and I wanted the theme of being on (a serial killer's) death row to come across in the title. Hence the title now: Death Row Undertow!!! :D

✧ Idia was actually supposed to be part of the cast for the story, but I scrapped his role in the plot because it didn't seem nearly as vital as the other characters' roles. (I'm so sorry, Idia... >_<)

✧ Reader's dating app match "sea♡sluggi" was originally going to be known as "sea♡urchinchin" because of the double meaning, but I changed it because I thought "sea♡sluggi" sounded cuter.

✧ speaking of dating, the original plot consisted of Reader meeting Jade at a speed-dating event (which is where he'd often go to scout potential meals). I changed this because I felt it would be more of a betrayal to Reader if she was close to Jade and considered him a friend. Also, with the two of them being acquainted and having that sort of history as friends, it allows for more snarky banter to balance out the horror.

✧ the seaside conversation Riddle and Reader have at the end of chapter one was much different in the initial draft. Originally, Reader and Riddle were going to get into a huge argument over [redacted for spoilers] and they would both storm off to go their separate ways. That way, when Reader is later kidnapped by Jade and stops showing up to work, Riddle would begin to blame himself for her disappearance. Essentially, this route would have been Angst Central for our strawberry devil. T_T

✧ along with kidnappings, Jade was originally written to kidnap Reader either while she was walking back to her car after work or while she was on her way to drop off her application at the aquarium. I scrapped this because I felt it'd be more unsettling if he broke into her apartment instead.

✧ Floyd was supposed to appear in chapter two (morning dew blues), but I cut him out because I wanted to shine more light on Reader, Azul, and Jade trio. Floyd will have plenty of moments in later chapters. <3 I won't neglect him hehe.

✧ there was an idea in which Azul ran a rival café/dining establishment across the street from The Devil's Delight, but I liked the idea of Azul running his business that was more centered within the city instead of bordering the sea like DD.

✧ one of the initial names for Cater's band was going to be called Cicada Coffee, but this name,,,,,,,, hm. It didn't stick with me during the planning stage and even now it doesn't stick with me LOL.

✧ Azul and Reader were originally supposed to be in a romantic relationship, but I felt it would be more exciting and contain lots of drama if they were one another's contractual obligation in a sugar daddy-sugar baby dynamic. I also just like their chemistry bordering romance but not quite tipping into that zone, so both of them are left wondering if there will ever be anymore to this contractual relationship.

i already wrote this several times but the idea of leon and ada with twins, and one is already asleep on his chest, and the other playing with his hair, and ada's trying to pluck off the one playing and braiding with leon's hair and is like "daddy's very tired, how about we get you to bed, your sister is already asleep," and ada tries to get one of them ready for bed.

while leon's half asleep and he feels the weight of one of his babies being lifted so he immediately wakes up and is like "WHERE ARE MY CHILDRENS," and then realizes ada has one and goes back to sleep

leon would teach them how to ride a bike etc, and encourage them to oh this is too old. baby toddler...

i think that they would also try to have their kid grow up bilingual or multiple languages if possible, he would try to speak mandarin to their baby but it's just not great sounding 💀

he loves whenever he's holding onto his baby, almost won't let go unless he gives her to ada to hold.

1 - So glad to hear you’ve read the first volume of the High Ground and yes agreed the art style threw me off a bit (had a hard time identifying the siblings among other things). But! The story is definitely worth it!

so i have a headcannon that Isseis daughter favorite uncle is Iwa. she’s around 3-4 but it’s still obvious. So one Day The seijoh uncles and Mattsun go to meet up with some of the old team and then His daughter sees Kyo (Mad Dog). She doesn’t wanna go anywhere near him at first so iwa takes her to him, cause he doesn’t want her to be scared of anyone. After Iwa puts her down Kyo gives her a wave and introduces himself. He knows that kids like compliments so he compliments her dress and goes to sit somewhere. Iwa shrugs and goes to grab her hand but is so confused when she refuses it. Instead she walks over to where Kyo is sitting. Kyo notices her struggling to put herself on the chair next to him so when he lifts her up on it he swears he sees hearts in her eyes. Iwa is lowkey broken cause this is the first time she’s just wandered off without him. The whole time Mattsun and Makki are making old jokes, Oikawas ranting abt his volleyball career, while Iwa nods along but he can’t help but peek over once and a while to see her playing dolls with Kyo. To anyone this is normal but Iwas heart lowkey shatters. Those are like her special dolls that only her and Iwa play with, of course Makki sees her playing with them and snorts cause that’s why Iwa looks so broken. So now it’s time to go and she won’t leave Mad Dog. she’s lowkey in tears and Iwas just like trying to brush it off like “whatever”. When they all get back to Mattsuns Place, everyone’s laughing at Iwa sulking on the couch cause he’s finally feeling what it’s like to not be the favorite. Of course Oikawa has been waiting for this moment so he’s getting shots and honestly treating it like a celebration😭 Let’s just say next week when kyo came over for drinks Iwa was pouting the whole time.

The trio are all so tall!!! Azul is 176 cm and the twins are 190 and 191 cm respectively. This makes... 3 different instances he could’ve committed murder now, and yet he hasn’t. Why? He could’ve killed Moojin in the basement and he didn’t. He never even planned on it. Just wanted him to feel the same pain that he felt when Moojin and his buddies tortured him. He could’ve let all those tools fall on JW and he didn’t. He protected her from getting hurt. He could’ve killed Park Kyungchun but he opted to stab him in the leg. He even hesitated with the needle and then stopped the killing from happening. He couldn’t go through with it... Something just does not sit right with me about that couple. They are unsettling to say the least. Especially considering the adoptive father was trying to get HS to kill Park Kyungchun.

HOW ADORABLE WERE THE HS and EUNHA MOMENTS!? Daddy’s little girl! OMG He LOVES that little baby girl. He DOTES upon that baby. Look at how he raised her and how much he protects her and teaches her and keeps her safe? It was adorable the way he teased her while laying in the hospital bed. I really thought for a moment there that his lost his memory of his daughter and I was about to WAIL when that little girl toddles up to his bed and asks why he doesn’t remember her. That big, honest smile and lifting her up in his arms and I just breathed a huge sigh of relief. Whether he recognizes it or not, that little baby girl makes him happy, and I love how he is with her. He’s such a wonderful father to her. Also, bonus moment. When he says that the cloud reminded him of JW’s face... T_T His wife is beautiful like a cloud and he knows it.

The way JW clung to him when he was awake sobbing and he held her and patted her back so gently... my heart... please don’t ruin my precious couple, TvN and writers and just... yeah. I’m begging you. Please let them stay together. Even though JW knows who her husband is now, I believe she still loves him. I also really liked how he genuinely wanted to know how Park Kyungchun felt when his wife died, as if he was trying to understand the feelings JW felt when he almost died in front her eyes. He’s really trying so hard... I love seeing him continuing to try. I think the more he tries the more he understands. JW has taught him so much.

OH AND WHO IS THE CREEPY MAN’S VOICE ON TAPE!? Is that the same man that was calling the Chinese restaurant owner and threatening him pretending to be Do Hyunsoo??? I NEED ANSWERS!!! Was he the accomplice!? Did Hyunsoo really not know his father was a serial killer til he heard about it on the news?? What did his father do to him that had him SO terrified of him?? Also, in HS's wounded state, WHY does he see his sister with blood all over her... and why is their a flashback of Moojin telling her that she reminds him of her father. WHAT does that damned reporter know!? WHAT murder did he help with "unknowingly" and what does he know about about Haesu??? And JW is right... psychopaths wouldn't even bothering caring for a life weaker than their own,  but yet he had a puppy that he cared for? And then she remembers the way he cared for their daughter when she was just a baby. (Which those scenes were so perfectly precious too! How can anyone fake that? Especially a psychopath.) I think JW is figuring out that HS isn't the monster society and rumors have made him out to be.

lol this earth ad is even more cringey.................. the ending credits.... i see lin yuzhi! and xixi got a cool shot :D im surprised lin mo didnt get any shots haha and that they didnt show mr tyger at all during the hugging portion at the end but oh well i guess..... 

tbh this was a minimal lin mo exposure ep but its ok, im still grateful that he got a few random closeups (which is more than i can say for some of the others) and now that hes safely in top 20 i honestly think my work here is done LOL. there’s not much more lin mo fans can do for him. theyve gotten him onto all the stages and i dont think any amount of work will get him into top 9... and ive said before i dont even really want him in top 9 bc id rather he stay with mr tyger and help them stay relevant bc theyll need his help to do so, especially since jia yi will probably make top 9. 

(from here is where i go into a rant about season 1 vs season 2.... LOL)

lets be honest, ranking 16 is too low for lin mo to make it lol....... last season the only kid who made top 9 who wasnt already in top 9 by ep 10 was yanjun... and yanjun had been on a steep upward trend leading up to the last ep (lin mo went from 17 to 16... theres minimal momentum there lol) and then bi wenjun going from 12 to 10 was the other surprise. xikan going from 18 to 13 was impressive, but he still wasnt one of the contenders for the 9th spot. i think at the end it was bu fan, qian zhenghao, bi wenjun and you zhangjing right? out of those 4, the lowest ranked in ep 10 was bi wenjun at 12..... so going from 16 up to 9 would be really really unlikely, unless lin mo somehow makes an even greater impression on the audience during the mentor collab stage than yanjun did last year.... which i think will be impossible bc literally the entire audience fell in love with yanjun during the “zero” performance in last season’s ep 11 lol it was crazyyyy.... but anyway i think ive reminisced about last season enough this rant.... can you tell i really miss it? honestly ive tried to stay as positive as i could throughout watching qcyn and i gave iqiyi the benefit of the doubt from the beginning that “oh maybe it just doesnt seem as great as the first season bc we havent gotten to know the kids yet, the show’s just started, we’ll learn to love it later” ---- but we’re on ep 10 now and i just.......... i still dont think i got to know the kids as well as i did last season and its not their fault, theyre not any less lovable kids (some of them i really like!!! more than some of the kids from last season!) but this season’s editing is really just disappointing. i really miss last season and it was honestly so much more enjoyable to watch..... i thought about this the other day, if lin mo had been eliminated during the last round, would i still be watching this show? and i thought about it and i honestly think i would... because i really like some of the other kids like mingming, junjie, xixi, jia yi, guan yue, chen sijian, etc. but i really dont think id be as eager to stay up to date with it. ive fallen behind on yaa and dont even look forward to watching fanafan anymore bc lin mo hasnt been on any of those (no, i dont count the yaa ep he literally only got 1 second of screentime in) these side shows are fun, but not as fun as fanafan from last season. they feature the same kids over and over again (literally yuehua trio was the ONLY kids on fanafan 2 weeks ago and then they were 1/3 of the ep last week too??? and hmm how come there are kids who have been on yaa multiple times yet there are also kids who have never been on it at all???? that’s just so unfair.....) without fanafan from last season, would you zhangjing have made it into top 9?? fanafan was the medium thru which he really showed us how hilarious and fun and lovable and sweet and sassy he was (whereas on the actual show he showed us his true, undeniable talent) and im just here wondering, if qcyn’s fanafan had featured ye ziming half as much as they had featured you zhangjing or his partner in crime yanjun (who both ended up making top 9), would he have at least made top 35? or how about chen sijian and wu zelin? or feng junjie?? or su yuhang?? where would they be now? why hasnt lin mo been on fanafan at all??? if given the chance, would people actually be appreciating zhan yu’s hilariously weird and crazy personality that we NEVER got to see?? sigh..........
