#okay the rant no one asked for

"We could have had you aborted, you know. But we didn't." They say with a laugh as if it's a joke. And maybe it is.

Why didn't you? She asks in her mind, can't voice those words aloud.

"We aren't heathens."

Why would she, when the answer they would slap back with was already clear in her mind.

They say, "Your mother almost died giving birth to you." They tell a 9 year old, the pain she caused her mother. They tell her, "We already had your brother. We didn't need you."

"But you wanted me." She says words happy, mind sad. They laugh.

"Study hard if you don't want to be married off." They tell a girl that watched her sister go away, dolled up in red and tears bottled to not ruin the white make up caked on her brown face. Lips quivering but not parting in a cry, sealed with the red lipstick.

She looks down at her brown skin. And she cries. Not loud like cousins do. Nor angry like her brother cries. She cries silent tears that get wiped on her sleeve never to be seen again.

And then one day they stop. Their cutting words held back. The child looks at the prize "State Topper" it says. And the child knows.

Knows what must she do. Works hard. Day in, day out.

Stops going out when she asked for the sixth time that week where she's going while her brother wanders in late after dusk.

Stop talking to friends when the phone is snatched from her hands for the fourth time that day.

Stops talking when she's cut off for the third time that hour.

They ask, why doesn't she talk to them? Why is she so lazy? Why doesnt she have friends?

She stays quiet.

They start talking again. About how they wanted a child who got 100% marks in boards.

She listens. Quiet and contemplative. She does her best. Works hard. And then she breaks.

The friends she did make along the way don't want someone who can't even call them, forget hanging out with them. The teachers want more. Her brother wanted a brother. Her parents never even wanted her.

98.8% isn't good enough for them. And neither is she.

What's the point she asks. And keeps doing what she's always done. It's all she knows afterall.

Tired and exhausted she pulls out the diary she hid as a kid, flips back to pages of poetries she wrote. Bled out her pain and hid it away. Not to be breathed a word of.

They could have aborted her, but they didn't. They wanted her to be grateful to them for the miserable life she lived, and maybe she should. For she met people, experienced what love meant, found that family isn't always defined by blood relations, not every man is out to prey on her, smartness and worthiness isn't found in marks.

They says things again. Now because she didn't get into an IIT, they don't care about NITs it's the second best. And now she doesn't even try. She found her people. She was born as a daughter in a family that married off daughters at 18. She's almost 20, unmarried and still studying; because her cousin chose death. She knows she'll have to move out for college never to step a foot back in again, because there's a cousin sitting at home, who's done Masters and still isn't allowed to apply to jobs. She knows they'll try and stop her and she doesn't care.

They could have killed her before birth. But they didn't. They had their chance, and now she'll claim hers.

i've just finished my s7 rewatch and it's kinda so funny to me how much discourse people created over every bucktommy interaction when their whole arc boils down to tommy being patient and vulnerable with buck and showing up for him. like when you are not wearing shipper goggles under the name of "analysis" and don't try to reverse-engineer every word and look and shot with utmost bad faith, that's what it is. a simple and sweet story of a new exciting relationship with a guy who's understanding and willing to show up. literally the two things buck needs from a relationship but never had with his previous love interests. they are kinda sickeningly sweet and well-communicating actually lol

despite The Horrors, so many things in UDG really are just a hilarious concept because like. in DR3 we see the Remnants all going out into the world to Fuck Shit Up. and then Nagito is quite literally just babysitting an army of 10 year olds that really needed a time out

it's just. it's the way that loki drops the space stone and doesn't even care what happens to it. It's just an after thought to him. Loki has been chasing that block of glass since the Attack on New York and when it comes down to it, he doesn't even hesitate. It's the way that he tackles Thor, like there is nothing more important in the universe to him. it's the WAY that he grabs Thor, pulling Thor down on top of HIM so Thor doesn't have to hit the metal of the ship and aggravate his injuries. It's the way that Loki and Hulk coordinated SOLEY to rescue thor. How Hulk BARRELS into Thanos' ARM not his back, not his side, his ARM so that way Thanos will be forced to release Thor instinctively.

It's how Thor reaches for Loki as Loki grabs him, like Thor intended to GRAB HIM FIRST, EVEN THOUGH THANOS IS STILL HOLDING HIM. It's how Thor immediately starts to collapse once Thanos lets go of him and Loki is there to catch him.

During patrol Nightwing found a handmade doll that resembled his hero persona, this wouldn't be so weird if it weren't for the fact that he finds dolls resembling the other members of the batfam's hero personas scattered in odd spots throughout Gotham and Bludhaven. The weirdest thing happens when one night he finds a doll of someone he doesn't recognize. It's a pale teen with white hair and bright green button eyes wearing what looks like a black and white hazmat suit. Nightwing picks it up and the doll immediately bursts into Lazarus green flames. Nightwing finally decided to tell the fam about the dolls not knowing that Phantom, who was sealed in a sarcophagus by treacherous observents several years prior, was now awake. The problem is that the sarcophagus is in the batcave as a trophy, needless to say everyone was surprised when the lid suddenly blew off and out stepped a teenager. Danny is a mix of anger and confusion because this definitely isn't Amity Park

You know. This is almost the exact plot of another, non-dp-related-AU I’ve seen. It’s @/ovegakart doll AU, it’s an AU of Linked Universe, which is itself a LoZ AU where a bunch of Links have come together across time because reasons I won’t get into. In the second ever LoZ game, Adventure of Link, there are these dolls that are scattered across the map. They give you an extra life. So, in ovegakart’s AU, the Link from the first game and AoL(it the same link)finds dolls of himself and the other Links while in his own time. Then, in a well, he finds a doll of a Link none of them have ever seen before. He picks it up and it bursts into flames. I checked, that’s what happened, here is a link to the page. Oh, and Nightwing not telling his family about the dolls until he gets Danny’s? The same thing happened in this AU, where AoL Link doesn’t tell the other Links about the dolls until he comes across the mysterious Link doll. That mystery Link is the First Hero btw, he’s from the Skyward Sword manga.

I would’ve liked it if you, I dunno, credited the idea? Or at least make it not so obvious by changing the doll into something else? Or make it so that Nightwing only finds a Danny doll? Maybe have it melt into ectoplasm even? I have a couple posts already about how I’m a LU fan on here, and if you’ve seen that before, then did you think I didn’t follow ovegakart, one of the biggest LU/LoZ creators? Listen, I’m not mad at you, I’m just confused at your thought process here. This AU idea wasn’t made for dpxdc, it doesn’t even make much sense for it. Yeah yeah, people can do whatever they want, whatever, but at least credit it my god. Or change it up to suit dpxdc more, or both.

How many other people have just taken AU ideas from others and pawned it off as their own, thinking that no one would find out since they’re from another fandom? It makes me feel gross. Please, just credit the idea. If I just posted this with some writing adding onto this, not knowing about this idea coming from another fandom and another person. I think I might need to close my asks for a bit, I don’t feel great, sorry.
