okay i’m sure you’ve covered this at some point but this site is an abomination to search in sometimes.
i wanna ask about your thoughts on s7 ending scene of the coronation - personally i hate it because it fucks up every timeline MORE (NEAL IS OLDER THAN ROBIN!), but most importantly, it has regina as the ‘good queen’ and after EVERYTHING she did, i would have fucking rioted if i’d been a citizen in storybrooke.
she said from day one that she didnt want to be a queen, which cora pushed her into cos she was a social climber, so giving regina power over everyone and everything when her younger self never would have wanted that, seems silly. i would have loved to see her happy for SNOW to be crowned the good queen of everything and all because it contradicts what she says in the pilot. THAT wouldve been a change!
regina needed a quasimodo ending, not something she expected but something she needed - learning to be happy for others after she took it away so many times!
that being the ending just proves that being the most evil and worst version of yourself, can result in you being bestowed even more power (exactly like our society tbh) i hate how they pander to her at every turn and i hate the writers for the coronation scene
I understand your tag frustration! Every time I think I’ve figured out a good way to tag this blog I’m like “yeah, that’s probably not helping!”
I don't think I have one single, serious, post dedicated to how beyond livid I am with The Once Upon a Time writers/creators for crowning Regina the “Good Queen” and placing her above all of her victims and those currently ruling their kingdom/realm WITHOUT HER HELP.
The other rulers do not need her. If they’d done this with Killian you’d hear them screaming misogyny over placing him above Elsa, Jasmine and Merida etc etc. But it’s OK because it’s Regina. And I have a hard time believing anyone asked for her to be placed in this position when Regina has done NOTHING for them.
I must say that I absolutely love your take on how Regina’s story should’ve ended and the crowning of Snow White. In my opinion, though, Regina’s younger self eventually did want power. People’s goals in life can change and the moment Regina tasted power her want for power was ignited. She liked it. Regina very much wanted to rule as was evident in her cursing herself for eternity as mayor over everyone. She also murdered, tortured and abused an entire kingdom to steal Snow’s throne. She was also very happy to be mayor again in the S6 finale. So seeing her give up her want for power would’ve been amazing.
Regina learning to be happy for others and petitioning to re-instate Snow as queen would’ve been a huge step toward making me believe “ok, maybe she’s changed. Maybe this is her redemption.”
But, unfortunately, once again, this vile villain that committed so many atrocities was placed above her victims. What makes it even more unforgivable is that she never apologized or showed remorse for what she’d done to them. She still had her vault of hearts for pities sake! For all we know that crowd there was being controlled by Regina!
I have always felt that the ending should’ve been centered on Emma and her family and not on the villain that destroyed their lives and doesn’t regret it. It should’ve been a coronation for Hope and the crowning of Snow White. it would’ve been nice to see Snow actually be Snow White again like they eluded to in S5 but never followed through with. You could say her goals in life also changed as her story progressed but I just felt like it was a regression for her. She was a strong leader that led with compassion just like her father. I’d have so liked to see Snow become who she was always meant to be and not just someone standing in Regina’s shadow.
I also do not like how the Wish People were there. Season 6 wish realm already didn't make sense but Season 7 completely destroyed whatever little sense it did make. Regina having two Henry’s to love her was absolutely absurd especially since the fake Henry forgave Regina for no reason after she murdered his grandparents and took away the only mother he’d known. This isn’t on Emma either as Regina told her that all the people in the wish realm weren’t real. Well, they aren’t fake are they if Regina was about to give up everything for fake Robin and now treats fake Henry like another son…? So where is justice for Wish Snowing?! Oh right where all of the other victim’s rights to justice are: ignored, forgotten and buried or turned into Regina being the victim instead.
I am 100% with you on just absolutely hating the message that Once Upon a Time sent in regards to Regina. It’s just vile. And I fully believe that this wouldn’t have been the case if LP wasn’t a beautiful woman. It is only because she is beautiful and a woman that this is even applauded.

Oh gosh, yeah, the whole situation is tricky! Especially with the messy fictonal world and rules of OUAT.
But it would all be very tense. 😢
The marital situation between Marcus, Rapunzel and Cecelia is so funny because it's not addressed AT ALL. Like what the legality of either marriage is. There are laws, irl, for this situation. For win your spouse is presumed dead and you remarry. Like the spouse has to have been gone for a minimum of four years (or as little as two in some cases) before the remaining spouse can declare a presumptive death. And they'd have had to have put in a massive amount of effort into finding the lost spouse and have a well grounded belief that the spouse is dead.
But those laws may apply differently to a fairytale world. Like there might not be a minimum of years to wait before Rapunzel can be declared as dead. And the resources to find her are far more limited than in the real world. All Marcus found was a tattered cloak and no trace of Rapunzel anywhere. Marcus could've just annulled the marriage at any point after not being able to find Rapunzel.
And there's laws for if the "dead" spouse returns. If the previous marriage has been annulled then the new marriage remains legal and valid.
From what little is shown on screen, we can deduce that Marcus and Cecelia continue to live as husband and wife. While Rapunzel lives either in the manor or on the grounds. So for the time being Marcus and Rapunzel are seperated. While Marcus and Cecelia remain married. Then Rapunzel goes and poisons Cecelia's heart which forces the later to run away. And Marcus searches for Cecelia for an entire year. What happens when he returns? Does he annul his marriage to Cecelia so that he can remarry Rapunzel? Probably.
Idk where this is going. There's just a lot going on for a situation that we barely got to see. XD
#once upon a time#cecelia#rapunzel (character)#lady tremaine#ouat s7#user queenofglassbeliever#meta#my first thought is 'the writers weren't really concerned with real world consequences in s1 nevermind s7'#but that's a whole other discussion XD#there are some people are genuinely mad at archie#and what he does as a therapist#and like fair irl it would be pretty unforgivable#but do you know what show you're watching??#and all of the OTHER unforgivable things you're totally ok with?!

Thoughts on Bridgerton s3 e2 and e3 (still mostly cranky)
Here are my cranky thoughts on e1. Now for e2:
Eloise: still hateable. But I'll give her a point for not outing Penelope as Lady Whistledown to Colin (yet?).
Colin: ugh why do they have to make every single male romantic interest in this show a gross slut? Poor Penelope is going to get syphilis.
I am not happy about the amount of torturing that is happening to Penelope while practically none happens to stupid Colin.
OK I admit it was adorable when Penelope said she didn't want to die without being kissed because it would kill her and Colin said "You'd already be dead." 😂
I was also very amused at Penelope's married sister not knowing how sex works and Lady Featherington being like "fuck my life."
The tiny crumbs of disability representation are nice to see.
And e3:
Lord Debling: vastly superior to Colin. A real catch—probably doesn't even have syphilis! I know Penelope doesn't end up with him, but I ship it.
Colin: finally he's starting to get tortured, a bit, but considering what happens to him in the next episode, it's too little too late. Anthony got tortured throughout the entirety of s2, so stupid Colin is getting off way too easy.
Francesca: I don't know what her deal is yet but god is she boring. At least she finally met her guy so maybe her plotline will start getting interesting soon.
Lady Danbury's hot brother: I just think of him as Dr. Facilier from s7 of OUAT so I find it hard to trust him. And Lady Danbury clearly doesn't like him and I'm Team Lady Danbury on everything.
Everything else in this episode: boooring.
Why am I still watching this show when I clearly don't like it, you ask? Well I'm sick and it seems like the kind of mindless calm pretty fluff I need right now. (And I am looking forward to seeing Penelope get fingered in the carriage because the poor girl deserves some pleasure.)

Seeing as you reblogged it again: TV show of your choice for the gen relationships ask game
ok i will do *spins wheel* once upon a time !
My favorite parent-child relationship: Regina & Henry my beloveds.....she loves that kid so much and he loves her back <333 OUAT is literally the story of THEM!!!
My favorite sibling relationship: Okay but [Wish] Hook perpetuating the cycle of abandonment his father started by killing said father and orphaning and abandoning Liam II mere days/weeks before wising up and choosing to stay with baby Alice......Brennan doomed the fuck out of all his sons and then Killian doomed the fuck out of his baby brother because Liam II just wasn't quite enough for him to change. And then Liam II grew up to be just as angry and vengeful as he was. The cycle repeats!!!
My favorite family relationship (other): Regina and Snow's relationship is so incredibly difficult and complex and deep. They know each other better than anyone else does and yet there are parts of each other they still cannot hope to grasp. And there's still so much love there despite everything. I'm obsessed with them.
My favorite friendship between two people: The Wish Hook & Regina friendship that is sprinkled throughout S7 in brief moments and implications haunts my brain. But in terms of friendships that were actually fleshed out in canon, I do enjoy Regina and Emma's relationship despite my problems with Emma as a character. Oh and I also like Regina's friendship with Archie. He's a terrible therapist but he's not a bad friend.
My favorite friendship between a group: Regina and her BFFs the Charmings who are all, to a one, obsessed with her and would kill for her, even though she has tried to kill most of them before on multiple separate occasions. Snow and David and Emma said that's my bestie Regina right there, attempted murder is nothing in the face of our bestieship, and they were so real for that. And you know Baby Neal will almost certainly feel the same. I also really like the S7 squad, I thought that was such a fun oddball group.
My favorite mentorship: The Rumple & Regina relationship and then the Rumple & Alice relationship as a reflection of that relationship are so......like he abused Regina for decades and molded her into a weapon out of spite for his enemy/ex-lover i.e. her mother but he did care about her deep down and she eventually was able to name what he did to her but she still loved him and wanted him to do better but also she still hated him and wanted revenge against him because how could she not. And then years later he stumbles upon the daughter of his other greatest enemy and he almost uses her to free himself of his evil impulses, which she is destined to do so it's basically a fate-approved solution, but he stops himself and says no, that's not fair to her, I need to stop imprisoning teenage girls in metaphorical towers. Like......the layers to that!!!
My favorite rivalry: [Wish] Hook & Rumple spent centuries doing the "recognition of the self through the other (derogatory)" thing and they were so iconic for that, although to be fair they were even more iconic for finally letting it go in favor of "recognition of the self through the other (affectionate)."
My favorite hatred/antipathy: Whatever Snow and Cora had going on was so toxic and complex and full of hate. Juicy as hell. <3
My favorite potential relationship between characters who never talk in canon: Okay I guess Regina & Marian TECHNICALLY talked once before Regina ordered her execution but can you imagine if Marian had actually come back to life through time travel shenanigans instead of it being secretly Zelena all along and she and Regina got to have real conversations and develop a real friendship.......that would be so good. 😔 OUAT S1-6 give a fuck about women of color challenge
#had 2 clarify wish hook because og hook's arc is bad and as a result his relationships are bad. lol#yourlocalegotisticalqueerishere#and it's the story of us

If there should have been one more Disney villain in a theorical season 8, who would you have liked to see?
ok i’ll be honest with you guys, my disney knowledge is severely lacking. i grew up watching peter pan and tarzan so i know those pretty well but everything else i know i learned from once upon a time. which, of course, isn’t saying much because well, it’s ouat. BUT i personally would’ve loved to see facilier (i know they had him in s7 but i do not believe in s7 lol) or yzma. she would’ve been fun.

OUAT s7 is so underrated. There are many things in it I love. Like the curse. This curse didn't create a small town separated from the rest of the world. No, it creates a whole neighborhood in Seattle, to fit in it with the rest of the city. All people from the enchanted forest remember living there, but also, all people of Seattle and I suppose of the world, remember that neighborhood as if is always there. It's interesting.
Ok, maybe some things could be better, there are characters underused (for example, facilier) and they could have explained more about the magic of the "land without magic" with Gothel and her story and all of that, but still is better than what many said, in my opinion.

I've started rewatching OUAT, because it's been awhile, and I've decided I'm not rewatching S7. I liked it ok, but I wouldn't say it's my favourite. Though I might watch the last episode maybe. But yeah I'm not a huge fan of S7.

OMG! I read your response to the "rape" anon and I'm so darn confussed by everything! I mean, I never watched S7 (lack of time mostly and then I kinda lost interest, life got in the way and blah blah) so I don't understand what's going on and it seems confusing af. Killian has a daughter?! And he was kinda tricked into getting her mom pregnant?! And what's that with wish Hook and... ok, I guess someday I'll have to watch S7 to understand this mess. OUAT, uh? Always crazy and confussing as hell.
Hahaha, yeah, Season 7 was kinda WILD, my friend.
The Wish Realm Hook (old, fat Hook) from Season 6 showed up again in S7 and used magic to make his appearance match OG Hook’s, clothes and all, because he was going to pretend to be him and kiss Emma so True Love’s Kiss would cure a curse someone put on him.
And THAT Hook, Wish Realm Hook, had lived a different life than the Hook we knew from Seasons 2-6, because Regina never cast the curse, so time never stood still and he never teamed up with Cora and never met Emma and etc, etc... and in those 30 or so years since the curse wasn’t cast, Wish Realm Hook had all different adventures, including one where he got tricked into impregnating a nasty witch who needed a blood relative in order to escape a different curse, so SURPRISE! One night stand and a baby in the morning, and the witch was like, whatever, we’re villains, just leave it to die, let’s go make villainy somewhere... but Hook, since all versions have the heart of a hero deep down inside, was like, “nope” and the witch took off and Hook was like, “Well, now what” and he took one look at the baby, his baby, and was like “GUESS I’M DADDY NOW” and he gave up the Jolly Roger, gave up his whole life really, and raised a cute little girl who turned out to be Alice from Wonderland AND OTHER PLACES, okay, there were other places, we just didn’t see them.

OUAT S7 Part 1 ramblings
- adult henry looks like zac efron
- rumple in jeans looks so weird
- hook is keeping something about emma from henry? bet she’s pregnant.
- yep, called it
- belle... T.T
- but at least she and rumple got a lifetime of happy domestic life with their son
- oh no, please don’t make this into a love triangle between henry, jacinda and ivy...
- ok, so tilly/alice is the daughter of wish!hook. and she’s in love with robin
- hmm... the (grand)parentage of lucy really makes for another big and weird addition to the already weird charming/mills family dinners...
- at least this hook and rumple don’t always try to kill each other, makes for a nice change.
- wow, teenage rebellion can get so much more dangerous when the kids start to meddle with magic
- i like robin deciding to focus on being a badass archer like her father instead of continuing the female magic user line
- belfrey sacrificing herself for ivy seems somewhat out of character, after spending the whole season ignoring and demeaning her.
- especially since i didn’t really get why she seems to hate ivy so much...
- the other way around i get wholeheartedly. i mean hello?? “you didn’t do anything to earn my love” wtf? a parents love shouldn’t need to be earned!!
- this season is so boring...
- so far the only highlights are poc charas getting more prominent roles, tilly/alice, and her romance with robin...
- six more episodes to go

as long as once upon a time season, 7 has flashbacks to like 5-year-old henry in pre-awake storybrooke I am all good tbh. I enjoy curse SB too much. And if he’s cursed as long as there is a cool arse villain who I can love after they die, It’s all good.
I dunno I decided I really liked Fiona tbh. And like she could come back and I would be ok with that(Like S3(S4?) Dust Zelena). Just she could have been in the underworld with Peter/Colin if Rumple hadn’t pushed Peter/Colin in the river of souls...
Oh well. None of that’s gonna happen. Stiltskin Fam Fan. Like seriously What would his name have been if it wasn't Rumple? So many Rumple questions.I know barbara but like honestly.
Like I am so like Fiona wasn’t lying that much because it happened in OUATIW they defied the laws of magic... And yeah it was fake love and stuff but... she didn’t seem massive power hungry like she only did what Rumple did for Baelfire?
Plus Rumple killed both his parents... And also Henry didn’t acknowledge that she was legit his great-grandma, like she was biologically related, he was like all rumple grandpa but then was like nah mates. Yeah I know she was bat-shit cray about killing Emma. But a lot of people have wanted to kill them and stuff.
I feel like if she had been in an earlier season she might not have died, It makes no sense to me to kill her, like that would have been quite a useful S7 plot device in my mind.
I am just rambling now...
#ouat#ouat s7#ouat s6#the black fairy#fiona stiltskin#rumplestiltkin#peter pan#ouatiw#a bit like what is this shit#I decided I liked the character after she died it's ok I did that with cora and pan too#maybe also the snow queen#hell I like most characters except tamara and greg which was very stupid but it's ok because s2 doesn't really count#season 7 better have a damn interesting curse#I also decided I really liked Jamie Murray's Hair#This legit happened with me and Lana in s1#It was nicely styled!?#No but honestly I want her back

what's hilarious to me among all you people that are bashing ouat and cs... you honestly are hilarious to think colin's new show will be more popular then ouat or colin's new pairing with his tv wife whose a guest star more popular then cs. newsflash, barely anybody is gonna care about this show or pairing. it won't be touching ouat or cs and shit it won't even touch ouat s7 viewership which was abysmal, just look at the channel it's on. Stay mad that CS stays iconic and beloved.
Huh?
Who is “all us people” and where did “we” bash OUAT and CS? Have you even been on my blog? If you can’t tell from a brief scroll that I worship and make regular sacrifices at the CS alter, you need to improve your reader comprehension skills, nonnie.
You actually think I’ll be mad CS stays iconic and beloved?! I’m over the moon that CS has stayed iconic and beloved, including by me and despite some bitter ass people such as yourself who obviously like to look for drama and negativity rather than things to love and enjoy.
I’m going to assume this was prompted by me commenting with “i’m petty and excited” on some post about Colin and his new TV wife? Not that you deserve it, seeing as the language of your ask is rather bitchy and hostile, but let me explain that my comment was made with the thought of any Colifer sickos that might still be out there. It had nothing to do with OUAT or CS (and just cuz your reader comprehension skills obviously suck, let me help you with this one Colifer =/= CS).
If it’s not that and you are simply bitter that I’m excited about Colin’s new project and the fact that he is going to have a love intest instead of being regarded (by some people) as the love interest himself, I’m gonna come right out and say that I value CS and its “legacy” a lot but do you know what I value more?
However, I’m a bit confused why you sound so on edge about “all us people” if “barely anybody” is going to watch this show. I hate to sound elitist (I don’t) but you refering to National Geografic as “the channel it’s on”, combined with the abysmal reader comprehension is making me really doubt your intelligence so let me use a metaphor to simplify this for you.
The ice-cream metaphor:
Nonnie, salted caramel is my favourite ice-cream flavour. I also enjoy raspberry sorbet. Does my enjoyment of raspberry sorbet diminish my love for salted caramel? No. Is me buying and enjoying a scoop of raspberry sorbet a betrayal to salted caramel? No. Hell, I can even have them in the same cone, if I so pleased.
Now, it so happens that salted caramel was discontinued awhile back and seeing as I adore salted caramel and it’s still my favourite flavour, I’ve started making some of my own at home. So have a lot of my friends. We exchange scoops and have ice-cream parties all the time actually.
But back to raspberry sorbet. Should I never buy it again just because salted caramel was discontinued? Should I limit myself and deny myself other flavours I enjoy out of some misguided loyalty to my fav flavour?
At the end of the day, I feel like there is something very important you are missing here - I support the ice-cream man, not the flavours he makes.
Hell, I’ll try mint and spinach, if he made it. (Actually mint and spinach ice-cream doesn’t sound that bad tbh.) And, nonnie, life is short, you are allowed to take more than one scoop.
/end ice-cream metaphor
Let me also quickly attempt to burst your ONCE bubble.
ONCE was a cult show and CS is an iconic ship and one for the ages! That being said, just because it was popular doesn’t mean that ONCE was all that respected or valuable for an actor’s resume. Like, do you know how many people I’ve talked to about ONCE who have never heard of it? Or how many think it’s a silly barely-more-than-a-kid’s-show? How many respectable awards did it win?
Look, sincerely here, I love ONCE from the bottom of my heart and I never cared if it was critically-acclaimed or not. It was popular, it gained cult status and still has a wildly active and passionate fanbase (that I’m a proud member of) but it was never top shelf quality, ok? Let’s just admit that.
Now, do you really wanna compare ABC, A&E and Disney to National Geographic, Leonardo DiCaprio and NASA? I don’t. They have very different strengths and target audiances and are all very big names. But to say that one is inferior to the other is simply ridiculous. And so is predicting a project’s success before it is even finished. A&E didn’t think they’ll get a second season to their wild fairytales fanfic either.
So do I want Colin’s new project to be more popular than ONCE? Hell yeah, I do! ONCE is over, Colin’s career is hopefully just beginning, I want every single thing he makes to be more popular than the last. Do I think Colin’s new project will be more popular than ONCE? Not really, though I’m definitely not completely ruling out the possibility of it being popular enough. But that’s not the point at all. Colin doesn’t seem to be blindly chasing popularity - which I have mad respect for - he is choosing roles that he likes, that he finds challenging and worthy of his time, so... yeah, I’m looking forward to it.
I’m looking forward to seeing him play different characters, I’m looking forward to seeing him do more serious stuff and I’m looking forward to seeing him do more romantic scenes with people who aren’t JMo cuz I’m not hung up on some ridiculous puritanist idea of CS-or-nothing and I’d like for some of his crazy inappropriate “fans” to be drowned out by new and hopefully more respectful fans. And the thing I want most is for Colin to produce new content I can enjoy and be happy making it (which he very much seems to be right now).
So to communicate in your preferred language: Stay mad that Colin is talented and loved and “all us people” will enjoy everything he makes (including mint and spinach ice-cream).

“the final battle” impressions
{Quick request to anyone reading: I’m watching OUaT for the first time, and I want to avoid spoilers. So, if you want to discuss something spoilery, I’d be grateful if you could start a new post for that. Thank you!}
Ah Once, what am I going to do with you?
I mean, this episode was definitely an Experience™, that much is certain. Just… ::sighs::
Look, if I try to sum it up, I think the best I can do is “this was twenty minutes of a really good finale stuck inside a rushed ninety-minute wtf-fest. Also, those twenty minutes belong to a totally different season.
this is the sort of thing you’ve got to foreshadow at least a LITTLE
The acting was pretty damn good, though.
(Fair warning: don’t open this on mobile, there’s a ridiculous amount of pictures under the cut)
OK. So. Couple of things that I really liked up front, so I can gripe in peace later on. (And readers can skip whatever part they wish ; )
First, and I realise this is a weird thing to enjoy, but I loved how utterly despicable I found Fiona in this one. She may have hung around like a bad smell for most of the season without really doing much, but she sure stepped up her game for the occasion.
Seriously, if Rumple hadn’t killed her, I would have found a way. “Our son”, indeed.
Though, please, have some pity on the poor guy. At this point, he has killed both his parents, and one of them twice. That can’t be good for anyone.
oh look the wall robots are still there
And speaking of Rumple… dang, that was a good scene in the mines. What I loved most about it was that this was literally all him. Nobody would ever know what he did in there if he didn’t tell them, except for himself, and he still made the right choice. Despite being offered everything he ever wanted, despite being under the influence of his curse just as much as ever…
before you ask, yes, my mind did go Places
…and more literally than it’s usually shown. Well done, pal. I should probably be more excited about this, but despite the tense buildup, I feel like the scene kind of fizzled as a whole. Maybe because he already made the exact same choice earlier, and was just confirming that he really meant it, too. Still, it was a good moment, and I was very proud of this walking human disaster by the time it was done.
Some more on the topic of Rumple: congratulations on his acting skills. Rumple’s, not Robert Carlyle’s, specifically. Because there’s no way in hell I could have seen these photos…
…and kept a straight face. Honestly, I’m half convinced that they were a test by Fiona to see if he was awake after all.
Oh, and the book!
The book made it across! And you know why? Because Belle and her son have True Love, even if Gideon cannot remember that, because Fiona is The Worst. And Rumple worked so hard to make Gideon remember; it was heartbreaking to see. I mean, he had to do that for… what? Five hours? And he still couldn’t stand the thought that Gideon might believe his mother didn’t love him. It was a good scene, OK?
On a sillier note (but still unambiguously positive): Emma’s wardrobe came back for the finale!
I don’t know, it’s just nice to see.
Other things I loved a lot:
Any and all interactions between Regina and her now-settled other half. Just. Pure joy, even in the midst of the wtf-ery. And with the obvious standout-moment when the Queen goes and sacrifices herself to give the others that tiny bit of time they need to get back to their world and help Henry (and Emma, but I think we all know who the priority was in this case)
Just… damn. I’m still worried about this woman’s self-destructive streak in general, but this was a good moment. (It also helps that she got better. ‘cause that could have been really depressing otherwise.)
Oh, and since we’re speaking of Regina (or the Reginas, plural), I absolutely adored the speech she gave Emma. Just… I mean, I expect the hope speeches from Snow (and that one was pretty good, too), but this? I mean… wow. Please compare and contrast with season 1. Except you don’t have to, because Regina already did that, and it was beautiful.
Then we have an actual mirrored TLK (see below for a botched version…) in this very good moment:
Like, yes, I love bookends, and this was a great one. Calling back to the “holy crap why didn’t I see this coming” kiss in s1 worked surprisingly well, considering how little interaction Emma and Henry had this season, but there’s enough material in the show in general to make me buy into this. Like I said: sucker for bookends.
In general, I feel like this episode was at its strongest whenever re-focused on the family relationships between the characters.
And to close it out, the ending montage.
Just... it’s like Snow said. They get to live their happy endings now. Snowing finally have the time to be a proper family (and David got a dog!). Regina is accepted and loved by her people (and the Queen gets to have a completely “new adventure”, as Robin so aptly put it.) Snow can do what she loves and doesn’t have to fight all the time anymore. And Emma finally has a place in the world; one where she can settle and be comfortable and doesn’t have to be alone anymore... and I’ll just leave it at that. It’s a good ending.
And no, I haven’t forgotten it--obvious special mention to this bit here:
Yup. Killed me dead. And I died happy, thank you very much. They’ve been through so much bullshit, and now they can be together, and raise their son in peace, and won’t be really worried when he doesn’t stop growing, either.
I also want to give a special shoutout to the five six people who immediately made sure that I knew that 1) the kiss wasn’t scripted and 2) we, as a fandom, are extremely lucky to have Robert and Emilie. (For those who haven’t seen the interview in question, it’s here, and here)
The finishing dinner was nice, too, even if I’m not sure what the whole Last Supper imagery was supposed to do.
Listen, I’ve been going “just let them be happy!” for way too long to complain much when they finally are. Also, I could write an essay on the range of emotions Rumple goes through when he comes through that door and people are actually happy to see him and his family. Or about that look that passes between him and Regina, because I caught that and it made me cry! I don’t think either of them ever imagined they would really be this happy again when they first met and they’ve been through so much crap and just... guh. I like this. It’s a good closing shot.
And now, the rest.
Because frankly, this wasn’t a great finale. It wasn’t even that good of an episode. It was everything wrong with the 4B finale, only more of that.
For example: What was the deal with making Emma lose her belief? Since when was her belief required for the magical realms to exist? The only person who’s ever had even something approaching that function was Henry. She didn’t need to believe in magic to keep it alive, she needed it to break the curse.
And this was never set up as the Black Fairy’s plan. Not even a little. This came so out of left field, it wasn’t even in the same stadium! And it’s so frustrating, because this wasn’t a bad plot, as such, but there was no build-up, no real payoff, nothing. Or, let me put it differently: this was a perfectly fine plot resolution, it just had no business being attached to this season.
Everything felt rushed, there were about five dozen plot points, none of them with any time to breathe and somehow, we still got that terminally boring climb up the bean stalk.Sorry, David, you know I love you, but what was the point of that sidetrack? Nothing happened. There was no try-and-fail cycle (because there wasn’t time for one) and honestly, if you needed a handwave for how they got back from the magical realms, maybe you could have gone with a less time intensive one?
And that moment where Snow kisses David back to life? Yeah, unearned, again. And dear show: the cut-in from the first episode worked for the split-heart curse, because you were subverting it. But here? It just didn’t do anything. This wasn’t a parallel. David wasn’t cursed, he was crushed by a beanstalk.
And speaking of things that don’t make sense…
For the love of fuck. Her ankle? Really? This is such a cliché that even the slasher genre doesn’t do it anymore. And it’s a dumb cliché, too. It’s rooted sexism and it makes it look like you didn’t have any other ideas. I get it, you don’t want Belle with Rumple at that final point so she doesn’t influence his decision. Here’s a thought, then: let her stay behind for a good reason! Or, hell, if you don’t want to write a scene for her (the writers sure seem to be allergic to giving Belle any screentime), let there be a fork in the road! They don’t have the time to check each one, let Belle go one way and Rumple another. It’s still a lazy plot excuse, but at least it’s not the stupidest cliché in the book.
And one more thing…
::sigh:: I have such mixed feelings about this?
Because on the one hand: Gideon had a life that nobody would want. He was kidnapped, imprisoned, kept in the dark and abused for all of his twenty-eight years, and even if he got free, he would never get that time back. Nobody would ever choose that for themselves.
At the same time… Gideon died. The person I got to know over the last half-season is no more. He’s gone. And he never had any say in the matter. Hell, he didn’t even get to say goodbye. It’ just such a messed-up way to get a wonderful thing.
(Also, while I’m on that topic… yes, I did notice that Rumple didn’t recognise his very tiny son at first, and I realise that it’s because he’s never seen him before. It prompted a particularly long “oh noo…”, too.)
And finally…
… that cliffhanger/teaser, though, huh?
I have so many questions. Why was Henry in that monster forest? Why is he now in an apartment and doesn’t remember his daughter? When did he get a daughter? (Also, who with? Enquiring minds would like to know.)
So. I know, like, three things about s7, and one of them is the cast list. Please try not to spoil anything else, because that’s already way more than I wanted to know going in. Seriously, I’m a reasonably grown adult. I can deal with a couple of surprises.

S10 sdcc trailer rant
(similar to my other rants) Before the trailer was shown, idk what to expect on s10. Ok more like I still don’t trust the writers. I still get like invested on this show.
It’s hard to quit and to stick only with headcanons, when the show is still going on and it sometimes not be so bad in a overall story-way. (quitting ouat show was easier to do.) I value story and in character stories and following the protagonists and their main story arcs. But ukno TWD isn’t the same anymore. Since Carl died, but it was still ok because Rick is still alive and that TWD imo is about Rick&/or Carl’s story. But, Rick isn’t in the show but in movies. Anyway, the writers sometimes still be true or still be IMO what I think is right for the story in the TWD show, but also lack a lot of potential moments. So it’s why it’s hard to quit. There are some things going well. It’s frustrating. I want this show to end good and end it like yesterday/ s7. The other frustrating thing is how AMC tease fans with movie news, Lincoln leaving, etc with hundred articles of the same thing. There’s so much stringing fans along from TWD franchise. Fandom is tired!
Ok I have this expectation or wish on how the show/movie TWD will end and I think writers/gimple are thinking similar the same way I am. But idk it’s a 16 ep season story idk what to expect and I don’t really trust them since Kang throws out random ships and time jumps and other dumb stuff. Like she brought C/E but Carol got this new arc and is back with TF or main storyline.
Idk why I care ahh show gonna die downhill anyway. That’s depressing and frustrating. I kinda hope the show ends now and we focus on the TWD movies with the mains. I just want a ending of Rick and gang’s story!
S10 trailer thoughts - I only care about the mains. Some others too but u know the show is weak with characters’s development and having a huge cast.
Idk Caryl being bffs, we already know that. It’s also was very much like the comics between Rick and Michonne which they only stayed as friends. So it’s weird. I wish Caryl said it differently but it looked more like flirting. And with Carol I guess she’s been away for awhile in idk Oceanside? I guess it’s ok if it makes her story interesting and make sense. I still want her with team family but seems like she still is or part of the main storyline, in s10. If she’s seeing ghost Henry and stuff maybe she’s taking comic-Michonne’s storyline from the Telltale game?
I want the TWD story to end well and including for characters stories. I’m really nervous about Michonne. Sigh it’s just like with Rick wtf. Is she gonna die on the show? Are writers gonna destroy her and make her OOC by kissing/being with Zeke? Is she gonna be in the movies and if there’s those dumb ships happening, does it mean the movies be wack too ( with dumb love triangles or Rick/Jadis shit).* Seeing bad writing while some areas like Caryl doing fine, I still worry that bad writing happening elsewhere like what they did with carzekiel, Carl dying, minor characters not developing well. Seeing that kiss was so gross. Richonne is the power couple and part of this main/Grimes storyline in the show. Last scene of Richonne was so beautiful and seeing M/E kiss is like tainting it. tainting the story’s ending. It doesn’t make sense for Michonne to do that in s10 and not in the rest of s9. Like she was still in love and grieving on Rick for 6 years even though she thinks he died. And wtf lol Zeke? Ya so now the haters know what Carylers felt I guess. Tho it’s worse cos M/E talked like once in s9 and yeah. However maybe the kiss was a one time thing or so. Maybe they’re both grieving and kinda using each other’s company? I’ll be fine with it if it’s some crazy angsty storyline. Obviously they’re not endgame. If they are, fandom only remembers Richonne. Oh I just realized this dumb plot kinda reminds me of comic Michonne. She is like stuck in this misery way with boyfriends like that in most of comics till she found her peace by finally finding her daughter. ‘finding her daughter’ is something I think tv-Michonne would do later on, trying to find Rick. Maybe Kang wants to write like that? Boat ? Maybe she goes on a boat to find Rick? I want Richonne/Grimes reunion! Sigh.
Sigh! I don’t want this stress and worry on it. It’s not exciting and fun anymore. It like putting salt on my wounds. Gosh can this show end!
===========
After thinking about the trailer and fandom things, I feel a bit better. Cast hates M/E and I think is highly possible Danai will be in the movies or one of them therefore Michonne doesn’t die in s10.
And that Kang loves to add random ships (but it might not be so bad afterwards??) and I still don’t trust writers. gahhhh
