Here's my take and my only take

If something is a closed culture, like ACTUALLY closed and not just someone *saying* it is

Figure out why that is

A good portion of cultures people have said are closed are not in fact closed cultures

But actual closed cultures do exist, figure out *why*, and if you just want the answer now, I can do that for you!

It's usually because colonization threatened to wipe out the culture, tried killing it off, or it was used to try and hurt members of those cultures, this is also something that *still* happens!

I am a firm believer that all cultures should be shared, but I am also of the belief that the police suck, so I'm not going to say that certain groups are being unreasonable for not being incredibly open about their practices or even language if they've had problems with people trying to hurt them using their culture

Things like japanese names or whatever religious practices, those are not closed cultural things, like not even remotely.

If you can still learn things from a closed culture, perfectly fine, go off and have fun, but please learn what an *actual* closed culture is and why something might be closed

Am I justifying all closed cultures? No, I think sometimes it's a little stupid, but being real here, most of the time it's justified that they are so careful. Like I seriously think some of you either don't know or have forgotten about romani people

An hour after Jeno had taken a time out from decorating the backyard with pink mesh drapes, everything you would possibly need for a tea party and a lot of pink decor he woke up with a groan, rubbing his eyes. Letting out a sigh as he stretched his body and yawned.

Being the sole male of the household was hard work, especially when both his daughters loved hosting tea parties. But he wouldn't have had it any other way. He was in the process of preparing one such tea party. The girls would be back home in an hour from their cousins place so he had to finish getting everything ready. And it did not help that his wife was in Paris for a performance.

"Okay, I'm done!" he exclaimed in victory and looked at his masterpiece with pride.

And as though on queue, the familiar sound Jaemin's cars pulling up in front of the house caught his attention as Jeno went out to greet his two princesses.

"Daddy!" He picked up Si-ah who ran to him and engulfed her in a tight bear hug.

"Hey Princess! You had fun?" she nodded at that as Jaemin got out of the car with Soo-ah fast asleep in her baby carrier on his right and Haerin in her carrier on the other side.

"Hey Bomin!" Jeno greeted his nephew who hugged him and greeted him.

"Hi uncle Jeno!"

"I hoped they weren't a menace to you." Jeno asked as he took Soo-ah's baby carrier from Jaemin's hand.

"Of course not! They were well behaved like Princesses, just like their mama right Si-ah?" Jaemin said to which Si-ah agreed almost instantly.

"Okay, that's great." Jeno said as Jaemin gave him a smug smile.

"I mean they do get it from their mama's side of the family." he said earning a sigh from Jeno.

"If you say so." Jeno said as they laughed it off and went in.

"Woah...I'm impressed." Jaemin said looking at the set up as Si-ah and Bomin gasped.

"Daddy! It's amazing!!" Si-ah exclaimed and hugged her father who grinned proudly.

"Shush! Its a royal tea party! Chaeyeon come over here with your sister!" he said as a toddler clad in a poofy blue ball gown came out of the car with her little sister who were a matching blue gown.

"HII!!" Chaeyeon exclaimed loudly and went to hug Si-ah, Soo-ah, Bomin and Haerin.

"Shh! Baby, Haerin and Soo-ah are sleeping!" Haechan whispered to his daughter.

While the kids were going about their tea party the fathers were all watching them with loving eyes from the kitchen.

"Too bad Eunbi has work, she would've totally loved this." Jaemin said referring to his younger twin and Jeno's wife.

"They're literally wearing pink matching ball gowns with a swan tiara...the whole look screams Eunbi." Jaemin said as Jeno looked at his daughters trying to mimic their mother's dance steps with love and adoration.

"Look at us, fatherhood turned us into goddamn softies." Haechan said as Jaemin smiled looking at the kids.

"I'm not complaining though, fatherhood made us happier even though the circumstances were out of our control." He said and looked at Jeno whose eyes were fixated on his two princesses.

" I definetly am a lot happier with the three of my girls." Jeno said as they continued watching the kids try ballet with the sound of Si-ah and Soo-ah's music box playing in the background.

Whether the circumstances were out of his control or not Jeno knew for sure that he won't regret nor plan on doing so anytime soon. Whether it meant having to be surrounded by pink his whole life and organizing tea parties, if it meant that he gets to be with his Ballerinas for the rest of his life he was willing to do it for eternity.

This one might be a bit obvious but it is unsurprisingly perhaps, rejection. Eros is a character who chases after a true, once in a century, eternal, soul crushing, all devouring love. And the thing that scares him the most is the thought that he could lay it all out on the line and be turned away or rejected for it. He knows that he's cute and he knows that people at the very least want to sleep with him, but prior to any relationship he gets into, if we're talking strict what is canon, he has only ever had two boyfriends and they both ended up rejecting him in one way or another and it resulted in him eating them. He is terrified of being too much and will often try and hold back in relationships despite how desperately he wants to just go for it and put his everything on the table. It's the reason he gets so upset when people seem to think of him as 'too much'. It's the reason why the second people see him as 'weird' or 'overbearing' he sort of shuts down even if he tries to move on from it. It's the one thing that haunts him.

4. What are your character's quirks or eccentricities that make them stand out from others?

So admittedly a lot of Eros' quirks are based either in his neurodivergence or in the fact that he is...a literal yandere stalker freak. I'm not entirely sure what sort of things are unique only to him because a lot of what I've put in are like- how he stims or how he regulates himself. I think he has weird things about like- his physical appearance that make him stand out but as for personality wise I genuinely cannot think of a single thing that is Eros specific now that I'm actually wracking my brain on it oop

9. What is your character's moral compass? What principles or values do they hold dear?

This one's fun! Because! You would think 'oh a fool is a fool, chase Elation at the cost of anything' no! Eros does have a bit of a more- ethical(?) compass. His father always imparted onto him that the lives of others are of utmost importance and as a medical professional it is his job to take care of those that cannot take care of themselves. However, there are those that will refuse their help and that's fine too. People are the most important thing, to be kind to others even if kindness is not returned. Albeit- sometimes he fails that part. However, instilled in him from the Yuque is also the fact that the wicked must be punished. And sometimes...the only justice in this world is a swift death and the disposal of their corpse. So- really there's just those two things to keep in mind with him. Justice for the wicked and 'do no harm, but take no shit' which arguably kinda contradict but still.

Dream catcher pt 3

So now.... we are again sitting in a line in some gym with our backs against the wall. And theyre showing us the activity. It turns out its this acrobatic upside down, trapeze ice skating thing lmaooo. And i was soooo not interested. Like we thought it was somehting completely different from the description and we're like what. So im sitting next to olly like wtf and i was like "i will not be doing that" and hes thinking the same thing. But then he starts looking for a refund on his plane ticket cause he's like wtf i dont wanna do this. And im trying to convince him, we can just do our own thing and have so much fun in London. Like its still gonna be fun come on the trip.

And idk, i think he couldnt even get a refund this late. So he was coming. Then....they split us into groups to practice and i got separated from friends and olly and was nervous cause i wanted to travel with them. So im frantically looking around, i think i was also confirming about the activity it was this whole thing. Like i swear the dream was sooo long, and i had only been asleep a couple hours.

So i look at our snap group. And our friends have secured our place on the bus/plane so we didnt have to find eachother to be together like they already logged our seats. And i look and they put me next to olly lol

Which for some reason really made me blush.....like who did that? whos noticing? im not used to not having competition. I literally remember being like well damn i want flirt and be his gf but yall are moving this faster for me. Idk for some reason it was a big deal but i was happy. The only exception(and is really only appropriate if you really know the kid) is if that kid is a fucking nut for reusable boxes because ho boyy I was excited to rip that flimsy plastic tray out of all those cases but I used my wooden hinged and handled reeves box until I broke it in a fit of rage as a teenager

Oh another way to maybe not kill our abilities as kids from struggling against crap that really was never designed to work, because ye know... Children aren't serious about anything =_= - is get the silly wood box one and stick a post-it on it saying "when you use up these "beginner" tools, next holiday we can fill it with *real* stuff" or whateverrr

I didn't want to clown on the gift donation for kids post and this might be a little late anyway, but if you're going to donate art supplies, or even give some to kids in your family, please think twice before getting those art kits that come with everything, even the ones that do come in fancy wooden boxes. They're almost always terrible in quality and even as a little kid you end up feeling frustrated by them and feel like you're the one doing something wrong or you don't have talent or something.

I get it, they're usually cheaper than buying even student grade supplies individually, but I remember getting one of the fancy wooden box ones at like thirteen then after a while getting (secretly, as to not upset the person who got me it that Christmas) because I felt I wasn't good enough at art to warrant such a gift because I couldn't get the pencils or watercolors or oil pastels to behave like how the books and videos told me they would behave. And even getting the plastic box ones as an even younger kid left me feeling frustrated. Because the kit ones are all full of cheap filler and less pigment as a cost cutting measure. And the paper that came with it was no better than printer paper so the watercolors disintegrated it.

Anyway I'm not saying you have to buy a one hundred dollar professional set of paint or something. And even student grade does add up. But a decent sketchbook (I recommend Canson XL Mixed Media, because not only is it cheap but the paper is great and there's like sixty sheets it), and maybe just one type of art supply instead of buying a whole studio's worth. Decent sets of artist pencils of different lead types are easy to come by. Or even just a few tubes of primary colors acrylic paints (I've been using Arteza acrylics and I like them a lot), or a box of decent oil pastels or a small watercolor pallet. And you can find decent brushes, even in packet sets, just make sure they're the right kind for the paints you're getting (and there are mixed media brushes too) Avoid at all costs the Crayola brushes with the thick plasticity bristles that are the bane of children everywhere tho.

TL;DR honestly, if you have the chance to know what the child likes in art supplies, just get them a decent set of that instead of one of the frustrating art kits that give you everything but for a lesser quality

(ALSO: make sure art supplies geared to younger kids are nontoxic, and if giving to an older kid who knows not to drink the paint water, make sure they know if there's anything toxic even still. This isn't too much of a worry these days unless you're getting really expensive pro stuff, but look out for warnings anyway)

Wow this episode was such a banger i had so much fun! From Zari to domestic esperastra to freaky avalance to robots this episode was really good, Nate killed it! I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next!

throwback time! Break down Two, please

How I feel about this character: honestly my interest in this series just like. dissipated somehow but, I still really do like this iteration of the doctor! he’s just a delightful imp of a guy with that character type I Love: the enigmatic, rebellious, grumpy, airheaded but capable parent. it’s like, surprisingly prevalent. basically any character that can be summed up with the “guy who starts fights and goes 'heyyy i’m just a little guy nooo it’s also my birthday i’m a little birthday boyy’” tweet.

it’s always nice to see a protagonist who just loves life and being in the moment. they don’t have any grand destiny, he’s just exploring for the thrill of it and feels he has a duty to help people. that’s a fun character. he’s also a very gay little man. if you haven’t seen it, search second doctor who. bring up any clip.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: lmao well, it’s jamie isn’t it. I know a lot of their tender interactions were played up for comedy to the british audience of the time like “look they accidentally held hands it’s funny”, and are basically the precursor to baiting but with the intent of getting laughs instead of clout, but dammit I’m not immune. (I mean. I also wouldn’t be shocked if it came out that one of the series’ writers actually did intend the subtext, considering the same guy wrote a lot of their closer scenes and episodes. like, the episode that has dialogue in it that’s essentialy a break up. but ig we’ll never know).

seeing these two guys bicker like an old married couple, but be absolutely devoted to and clearly fond of each other is really enjoyable. the actors had a great chemistry. also it’s very fun how some creators in the expanded universe material clearly thought this, too. like the audio story where they essentialy go on a honeymoon to a resort before the conflict breaks loose. and the beginning of “the wheel of ice” where jamie wakes up and walks into the room, and zoe notices he’s wearing slippers. then two walks in wearing socks but no shoes and it goes “and zoe realised where he’d gotten the slippers from”. oh my god they were roommates shared slippers. related to that:

My non-romantic OTP for this character: this is another parent-and-child dynamic haha, but zoe! I love how they bounce off one another with their similar self-assured personalities.

god there’s sooo much potential in there, with them both being extremely clever people subject to punishing experiences by an academy to hone their skills, which left them emotionally stunted in some ways, their rebellious streaks and desire to see more of the world causing them to run away. I also like how quietly proud he is that she blew up a supercomputer once. I think it’s funny how she forcibly got herself adopted by stowing away on his house-machine and once he’s satisfied that she can handle the risks he just lets her,

My unpopular opinion about this character: man does two even have a strong enough online following for there to be clashing opinions?? I dunno like. I guess I don’t see him as one of the darkest doctors? he’s usually tops those lists for being eesily underestimated and doing some powerful stuff like just... sending a large fleet of villians of the week to their deaths once for trying to take over a planet. but his general philosophy seems to be the whole, good will prevail, have hope etc.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: why was he travelling around with jamie in a seemingly post-jamie time, creating that Entire “oh they had more adventures off-screen actually” theory. I know I knowww it was the 80s and they didn’t care about the continuity of some children’s show, and sometimes it’s good for a series to not answer all its loose ends and let fans interpret things for themselves, but also answer this.

so honey honey is the fic where lance has a to-do list about everyone he wanted to bang- it’s a little longer than i usually write but is also a one shot which is why it’s taking so long or well, longER than usual loll. 

it’s kind of a short- ‘through the years’ fic about lance going to the garrison and being his squirmy little self going thru pubery and being sooo attracted to everyone+being away from home and unsupervised (because the Garrison was basically a boarding school, wasn’t it and lance was seen to have snuck out enough that he had an entire plan and the guard’s patrol route memorized) and then lo and behold, who does he meet and see?? None other than Keith Kogane. I know in the flashbacks we don’t really see much of them young, just that griffin and likely a few other cadets were not big fans of keith’s sOLO REbeL style- but to lance????

all he sees is = hoTT??! HoT boYY??? For me? dont mind if i do-

then bam. rejection. maybe cuz he’s young, maybe because keith doesn’t swing that way, maybe because keith doesn’t know him, because he didn’t buy him flowers or something like his older siblings always tell him he has to.

and sure, Lance can roll with the punches- it was all good in the hood, keith didn’t want a sweet, ripe banana with his fruit salad- lance got it.

if only he wasn’t so RUDE about it, enter hate, Stage Left.

in all honesty from keith’s perspective, who was likely catching shit from other people who also didn’t appreciate his well earned ‘i AM better than you, I’m the best person here’ attitude. plus keith being himself, a self who probably didn’t want to temper down his natural talent for the egos of other people. well then it’s likely he would interpret lance’s flirty advances as him making fun of him, or another person trying to bully the loser who sits by himself at lunch. so he protects himself before he gets hurt. 

and lance- lance may be a natural born bully but he’d still got the caramel centre of a sensitive young man with a heart full of burgeoning romance. but one rejection won’t stop him and it DoesnT and he enjoys his first few years in the garrison. 

alongside a tumble with griffin while playing musical bunk beds because they both discover- fuck keith kogane.
