     Weary eyes crack open as her phone buzzes insistently. Vision still blurry she crawls out of bed grasping around her nightstand for the offending device. In her stumbling she accidentally a now grumpy Piyomon who only offered squaks that only worsened an oncoming headache from the bright backlit flip phone. 

    It took several seconds for her eyes to adjust and even longer for her to process the string of texts before her. Her mind was made when she saw Hiakri needed a place to stay. She could ask her own mother’s permission later, this was too important.

He stared at Hikari for far too long. His eyes wide in pure shock, he felt his heart race and drop to the pit of his stomach for the third time. All three times it was his fault, her words hitting him like a knife.

Taichi wondered if she would be better off sometimes without him as her brother. He’d hurt her more than once, and here she was talking to him about trying to emulate his bravery. How he wanted to tell her the truth. He wasn’t brave all that often. How whenever he made decisions they were filled with self-doubt and fear.  

 He may have had the crest of courage, it may have suited him, but it also held him back. He was too reckless sometimes, trying to shake off the fear that kept his frozen in place like it had so many times in the real world; With Hikari’s illness, with his ability to make life choices for his future, and it became even more clear in the Digital World when Hikari fell sick again, with the countless times he or his friends were in danger. 

“Hikari….”

Her name left his lips as a whisper, his feet felt heavy as he tried to move closer to her.  He was too old to be setting a bad example for her, too old to know what damage he could have done to her all those years ago.  What he might still be unknowingly doing. 

“I’m only brave when I have to be…and even then-I’m still afraid. Having courage doesn’t mean you go running head first into trouble, it doesn’t also mean being a leader. It’s also about having compassion and empathy.”

Taichi explained to her, his arms wrapped around her as he closed off the distance between them. He held her close to him, kissing the top of her head and rested his head for a moment on hers. 

“Be yourself Hikari-chan. You’re the light of my life and don’t ever change that, okay?”

Sora’s a pretty friendly person. You can be her friend before she really lets you in. A twenty minute conversation will go by before you realize she’s only asked you about yourself. Deflecting questions is an art-form. Trust is sought yet rarely earned in it’s entirety. 

You’ll know you’re Sora’s friend- a real friend- when she begins to ask for your opinion on things that aren’t relevant to just you. She’ll bring you into meaningful decisions and conversations and moments that she’d otherwise protect. 

To earn Sora’s affection in a platonic sense, you can try to understand her, but she’ll care more if you believe what she says.

If you want to earn Sora’s romantic affection, you’ve got to be pretty special. That sort of trust takes dedication and time. There’s constant maintenance. To move past the platonic stage, you need to begin to understand her, and once you begin to understand her, you need to show a more radical sense of love and vulnerability yourself. character in general: I actually only started liking Hikari back when I first saw 02, I actually wasn’t very fond of her during Adventure. Her gaining a teasing attitude is the best thing.how they play them: Spectacularly well !! Yuri’s portrayal of Hikari is absolutely heart warming to see !the mun: We haven’t really talked OOC yet but I’d absolutely love to !! && I’m sure you’re as sweet && playful as Hikari is !!
