Kane found himself in a tavern with a glass of rum. His attention was on those inside rather than the counter itself. He hadn’t noticed that someone had slipped an envelope below his new glass. Of course, he looked up to the bartender who shook his head and saw no one come anywhere near him.

“Really? You saw nobody?” Kane asked. The bartender, who was an old friend of his laughed and pointed towards the door. “Saw a lass come in here and walked right out when I noticed her again. I don’t know who it is.” He responded. 

The Harbinger glanced over his shoulder to see if there was anyone outside but only saw the citizens of Maronville. As he set his glass aside and his eyes on the window still. Kane ripped the envelope open before turning to look at what was inside. 

He someone expected some sort of junk mail, an invitation to some kind of event or even some poor family asking for some money. Instead, he got a photo of a woman wearing a white tank top. 

“Know her?” Kane asked as he flipped it over for his old friend. “No, but she’s a beauty.” He responded while cleaning up the bar. “Mmm, that she is…” He hummed out while clicking his tongue. 

Turning back towards the door for a brief moment, then back to the counter. He shrugged and placed it into his breast pocket, where the other one rested. “Looks like you got a couple of those.” The larger set man said. 

“Mmm, if I get another one, I’ll make sure to give it to yah,” Kane responded while paying for his drinks. “I’m going to walk the square a bit more.” He said as he straightened out his suit jacket.

“Save some more rum for me later on.” He yelled back with the bartender laughing and waving him off. “See ya later, Mr. Dawnsorrow.” Kane shook his head, leaving the bar in pursuit of some well-deserved cupcakes.

He is not the kind of god that stands back and watches the world go by. Those with the resolve in their hearts to accomplish great and heroic deeds will always have his blessings. Some legends say that he even accompanies armies into battles against great evils and tyrants in the form of a winged black knight, clad in black and gold armor.

Many villages are likely to have a priest venerated to the Patron God of Heroes and Craftsmen. These men and women tend to either be veteran heroes themselves, or blacksmiths of some renown. Many choose to be both to show their dedication to the god. Heroic Oaths are often the greatest way to honor this god, as well as protecting the weak and innocent. No matter the deed, great or humble, the Hero God will hear you. A common offering to this god is a sword forged by the person making the offering. Often times, there may be a great shrine to the god, with thousands of swords impaled into the ground outside of it.It is through the will of this god that these blades never rust or dull, remaining there until times of great need, in which anyone, of any background can take a blade and fight, as long as their intent is heroic. To take a blade and use it with ill intent often curses the user, withering their arm and even their body until it is returned, or until the user redeems themselves through a heroic deed.

And should you find yourself, in a battle in which the odds are stacked against you, where your armor and weapons are all but shattered, invoking this gods name will grant you the resolve (and often times a conveniently placed weapon) needed to either bring yourself to victory, or to sacrifice yourself to defeat a great evil at the same time. The greatest heroes of history will be granted an afterlife in the Great Hall of the Hero God

“I love skateboarding! Silvermoon is a real good place to do it too, been getting into that again a lot lately.  Also I enjoy taking pictures and drawing.  Those are probably my top three favorite things to do since it’s something I can do at home while in Silvermoon whenever I want.

I also really like surfboarding and swimming.  Been real into going to the gym and sparring lately, anything to keep my mind and body occupied.  It’s weird being home and...” He stops himself, frowning.  “Yeah, everything is weird right now.”

“Oh, I would think people see me as fairly approachable,” Olivia smiled, a hint of delight and pride in her stare. “I am certainly open to chat with strangers and I am always wearing a smile.”

Hard mode character development: 1-5!

1. Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with?

Iloam has a younger brother, Kieran, that is a few years younger than him. He also as a cousin, Fox, than was Kieran’s age (but they didn’t grow up together).

He and Kieran were extremely close through childhood, and ended up running away from home when Iloam was around 15 and Kieran was around 12. As they grew older, Iloam still made an effort to visit Kieran at least once a month, and would send him supplies and letters weekly. 

Iloam told Kieran their mother was dead when they ran away, which was untrue.  For the past five years, the two brothers have been estranged. Kieran found this out and disowned Iloam, cutting him out of his life completely. Iloam in particular has been deeply affected by the estrangement and continues to struggle with it.

2. What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?

Toxic to the extreme. Mental, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Iloam’s mother hated him and blamed him as a ‘curse’ on their family. As she gained power in voodoo and warlock magic, she turned her demons on Iloam as reward for their loyalty.

There is also possessiveness mixed in, on both of their parts. Maebh disliked Iloam, but it was only her that was allowed to consume him. She has acted out violently, many times over the years, towards his lovers.

For his part, Iloam struggles to let go of his mother. While mentally he’s aware of how terrible she is for him and his loved ones, he continues to struggle with seeking her approval and affection. Being one of the last of 4 survivors of his gypsy clan, he struggles as well with the desire to have family in this life, even if its a negative relationship.

3. What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?

Troubled. Iloam wanted his father to save him by simply noticing him or approving of him, while Daigh wanted his son to be better. They had a strained, distant relationship that mostly involved Daigh being a disciplinarian and puppet for his wife’s wishes. Daigh also tried to instill values in Iloam by giving him structure and being very strict on rules; but this truly backfired royally and their relationship got worse and worse as Iloam rebelled and acted out. There was a lot of built up resentment, although they shared many of the same qualities.

Iloam looks back on his relationship with his father with a tremendous amount of regret, but also hurt and questions. 

4. Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?

Yes, quite a long list of things! Iloam has experienced a lot of traumatic events through various ages. Although it would take way, way too long to answer this one the majority of those answers would be ‘nobody else knows’ or ‘a very select few know’. Almost all of the current people in his life do not know details of these things.

5. On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?

His father’s antique cigarette case and matching lighter (made from Dwarven Silver). Several baggies of drugs (lately: E, Xanax, Ritalin, poppers, speedballs). His communicator. Motorcycle keys with a hearthstone key ring, and two skeleton keys (keys to his bank vaults in UC and Dalaran). Anywhere between 20-50g in cash. Throwing knives in his inside jacket pocket, a dagger tucked into the back waistband or his boot. Almost always a packet of wound steel guitar string and a few loose picks with the Blacksong Records logo stamped on them.

Pastel - Do you prefer pastel, bright, neon, or dark colors?

Random starter time! || "Hey. Hey - are you alright?" The concerned Sin'dorei questioned, arching an incredulous brow in the stranger's direction.

His glamour nearly faltered when he stumbled into a stack of books while trying to move behind a pillar. How long would he need to maintain it? Kage walked the halls of Silvermoon’s library appearing as one of their own, hooded and portraying amber eyes. He wore scholar’s robes in order to access some of the secured texts in one of the vaults. The only reason it hadn’t faded away when he entered was because the spell was not tied to him but an object he wore. 

“Yes, thank you.” The eloquent Thalassian flowed smoothly off his tongue as if he’d never left. “Seems I have lost my way in my old age or they have rearranged things again since the last time I was here.” Part of his guise was that of an elder. Small wrinkles creased across his features with grey in the lengths of his hair. 

“Would you be so kind as to point me in the right direction? I was tasked to copy a text for my master, Lord Sunfury. The enchantment vault is where I need to go.”  

The name was random, coming to him at the last second of those he recalled among the social circles when he’d lived here prior to Telogrus. 

It was exhilarating coming here, getting caught and seeing just how much he could get away with before he was forced to cast a rift to take him home. Hopefully with his prize.

♥️ Love Headcannon

Ezekiel has only been in love once but he likes to think that the Light will tell him when he’ll find love again. He’s not rushing it anymore. There’s no farm to maintain, and he doesn’t actively go looking for romance. To him, if something fits, he’ll know, but for now, he loves his honest life.

♦️Personality Headcannon

The Bishops at the Church worry for the ‘Father of Hard Knocks’ because Zek will leave from his shift at the church and go to Old Town, sometimes pulling all-nighters as he walks the streets to make sure people are doing alright or healing the sick and needy who are there with the light. He’ll also partake in a few poker games but he doesn’t tell the Bishops about that, they worry enough for him as it is.

Zek watched his father die. He was 13 when men who were dressed up as Defias broke down their farmhouse door and shot his father dead. Zek lost his temper for the first time that night and grabbed his father’s sword and summoned the light to him. The display scared off the fake Defias members, but his father couldn’t be saved and Zek still remembers how easy it was for life to quickly be there and then snuffed out. It made him grateful for the time he had left with his mother until she died six years later.

“Cupcakes.” He told her plainly. “Cupcakes make me happy.”
