ShoH OC’s Characters first impressions
My characters first impressions (in teens and as adults + tropes)
Sophia
Sophia has oval face fluffy brown hair and curious eyes. You couldn’t say anything else then she is cute. Almost too cute as you wanted to smother her violently. But you could never say it to her face because from nowhere she got angry. Cute my ass she wanted to be taken seriously.
First impressions were often like that, but then she surprises you when she deadpans answers to all unwelcomed teasing comments. As an adult, she is calm now, thoughtful but mostly silent if she isn’t between friends. She often unintentionally end up sneaking up on people, scaring them. Weirdly enough her eyes are always bright and sharp. Only sometimes mischievous spark pasts them. (strong silent type)
 Aurora
Aurora was always worthy of her name. She has around her some unseen vibrating energy. Like if you are watching hummingbird wings but can make out exact colours. Always drawing attention even without doing anything special. She was and still is an embodiment of warmth. Orange to auburn hair, full lips and gentle playful expression.
But she was all too welcoming, all too trusting, it could come as dishonest and all too meek. She had to change. Steeling her expression and schooling it into a more neutral one. A small smile never left her expression, but she is more patient now. More straightforward with her words and all to stronger in pursuing her endeavours. (silk hiding steel)
 Deirdre
For Deirdre it was always how it was before and how it was after. Before she was charming, beaming with energy, always ready to tell a story, to be centre of attention. And she is a captivating storyteller. Changing between characters in the blink of an eye, bringing her story to life with passion. Her blond hair giving her radiating crown and hazel eyes earthly grounding look.
Then was after. Her more rough face and love for drama shifted to intimidating aura and sometimes intense expression. Smile is scarcer from her and so it is a lightweight comment. Like as if landing on the earth from all those stories she loved so much was too hard for her. But she doesn’t look weak, quite contrary actually. She is ready to protect things and people that matter to her as she expresses it freely. (mama bear)

The night was long.
The red queen stares at the infant before her, held in it’s father’s arms, and clicks her tongue. Her nose wrinkles in disgust as the child’s wide eyes meet hers and she looks away.
She pulls her hand away as if the child would burn her as it reaches out to take it’s mother’s finger and is shushed by the large man holding it, his fingers going to wrap around it’s little arm.
“You dare call this thing my child?” The queen asks, her voice sparkling despite her disgust. Her lover looks up at her, his own tired gaze confused.
“Why... yes my queen. This is our child-“
“This creature is no child of mine! You dare tell me that I could produce something so... horrid?” She bares her teeth, red lips curling in distaste. “It’s face is marred. The gods have marked it as filthy, that much is clear,” She waves a graceful hand, dismissing the man before her.
“Take it away my darling,” she remarks, the chill in her voice sending a spike through Deirdre’s heart. He looks up at her on her throne, boredly petting the cat that sits in her lap. He hugs the child closer to his chest, taking a sharp breath and looking down at her.
“A-ah... yes, my queen. I’ll take her to the templ-“
“That won’t do Deirdre,”
He stops, that chill growing as he slowly looks up to his beloved queen, his lover, the one he’s devoted his life to.
“...What do you mean, my queen?”
She laughs, the sound as beautiful as ever, and he can’t help but notice how the sound makes his heart jump into his throat. She stands, stepping down to be at his level and tucking a slender finger under his chin, her eyes sparkling as he leans into her touch.
“Kill it.”
His blood runs cold and his eyes widen as she asks him this, a gentle smile on her face.
“B-but my queen I... it’s our child my darling,”
“It is no child of mine. But I understand,” She smiles, gently running a thumb over his cheek.
“You were always a kind man my warrior. Too gentle,” She tilts her head, meeting his eyes. She pulls him down and kisses him, his head quickly going foggy and his limbs taking on that heavy weight. Her next words echo in his mind, the runes marking his skin burning with a dim light as his eyes go blank, his thoughts filled with only her. Her voice in his ear, her scent surrounding him, her fingers on his neck...
“Take the creature to the woods. Take it to the river and drown it, and never mention it to me again,” She pulls away as he slowly nods, bowing his head.
“Yes my queen... whatever you wish,”
She smiles, tilting his head up and running a thumb over his lips.
“Worry not my love. We will try again, don’t let this failure discourage you. Our child will be sheer perfection,”
Deirdre leaves in a haze, holding the child close to his chest. He makes his way towards the gates, his hood pulled close over his eyes. The warm weight against his chest ceases to register as his own child, his queen’s words cycling in his head.
“Take it to the river and drown it. Take it to the river and drown it.”
The walk feels long, his limbs are heavy and his runes burn. He’s relieved when he reaches the river, hoping that once he completes his queen’s wishes, this weight will leave. He will stop burning with this fear and pain.
He kneels by the river, listening to it rush for a short while. He sets the child down in it’s blanket and reaches into the water, just to feel it move.
He’s shocked by how cold it is, pulling his hand back and holding it to his chest. He looks to the bundle beside him, feeling his eyebrows furrow.
“Take it to the river and drown it...”
He moves the blanket, but what he sees makes him freeze. Bright eyes look back at him, meeting his own through a mess of curls. He takes a sharp breath and suddenly his mind is clear. Pain courses through him and his face slowly twists. He picks up the child and cradles her to his chest, crying out in pain and curling over the infant. He cradles her against him, sobs ripping from his chest.
“My darling... oh my child...” He gently kisses her head, body shaking as her small hand meets his cheek. “I’m sorry... I’m so sorry my baby... I love you so,” He looks to the water, remembers the painful shock of cold... and he stands, running back towards his kingdom.
He runs with a ferocity he hasn’t in decades. Perhaps longer... Time has ceased to pass for him long ago. He runs, holding his child to his chest, hot tears burning down his cheeks. He makes his way towards the gates, hiding from the guards as they make their rounds.
He sees one he knows, a young girl by the name of Beatrix. He looks at his baby girl, taking her one hand and looking back to the young guard. He knows she is his only chance. The others are just as under his beloved’s spell as he is. As he soon will be again. He reaches out from his hiding place in the trees and pulls her to him, covering her mouth as soon as he’s able with only having one free hand.
He shushes the frightened girl, looking at her with such desperation that she quickly quiets. He drops his hand, another sob breaking through his chest.
“S-Sir Deirdre? What-“
“There’s no time child,” He pulls her arms out and gently hands her his child, though his heart breaks as soon as he lets her go. The way the young woman cradles the infant immediately gives him comfort, what little there is to be given.
“Please, Beatrix... take her, run as far as you can,” He digs in his pockets, taking out a pouch of coins and gems and pushing it into her hands. “Take this, use it for whatever you may need. Bring her somewhere safe,”
“Sir I don’t-“
“I know you don’t understand, I will explain, I promise you, but please... you have to take my child away, you have to take her...” He crumples, putting his hands to her arms as he falls to his knees. “You have to take my child from me... you have to take her where she will be safe,”
Beatrix looks down at the man before her, the man who’s become a legend, someone who is slowly being forgotten by the kingdom he once saved... and she feels compassion. This only amplifies as she looks down at the child in her arms, reaching out for her father as he cries before her. She takes a breath, knowing that with this, she may be upturning everything she’s worked for. The queen does not stand for rebellion.
She leans down, looking at the broken man. Her voice is soft, careful.
“...What is her name Sir?” He looks up, tears still in his eyes as he reaches, letting the little girl take his finger.
“...Katiya. Her name is Katiya.”
The child is taken away and Deirdre, broken and exhausted, returns home. Over time these events unfold twice more. One is blind, another deaf, and each is rejected by the queen, and Deirdre is sent to kill them. Each is sent with a short letter and their names, begging them to never again return to the rotten land of Wunderheim. Mireille, then Loreto. Deirdre always returns to his queen to bow before her and claim that he’s finished disposing of the imperfect creatures. Each time, she wipes the tears from his face and kisses his lips and with a simple statement, he is back under her spell, craving her touch once again.
“You’ve done well my love. Welcome home,”
And so there stays the lover of the eternal queen, content to disappear. So long as his children may go and live, here he will stay, slowly burning away under her scarlet flames.
May his children be happy, and perhaps one day, they’ll return for the father who loves them so.
We may only hope.
