By the time A Year in the Life rolls around, Ricky Gilmore is an elementary school gym teacher. He’s mostly called Rick, instead of Ricky, or occasionally, Richard. Delaney Ballard works as a personal financial advisor. They’ve been married since 2010, after dating for two and a half years. They’ve got one child, a daughter named Madeline Delaney who was born in 2013. They’re expecting their second child, another girl named Alice Lorelei, who’s born at the end of 2016. Ultimately, Ricky and Delaney have four children. They originally intended to have three children but got identical twin boys, RJ (Richard Christopher Jr.) and Luca Michael, in late 2019.

Ohh how do you think Ricky and/or Delaney would get along with Kitty?

i think that it would takes some time for delaney and kitty to become friends. mostly on delaney’s part because when she first arrives at stars hollow and chilton, she’s trying desperately to hide the fact that her father was arrested for white collar crimes (tax evasion, fraud) and that her family lost nearly everything. delaney’s trying to hide that she’s on scholarship at chilton and has “poor little rich girl” vibes. but once you get beyond all of that, i think that delaney and kitty would get along quite well. they’ve got different interests, but delaney could possibly join chilton’s track team. and anyways, once delaney becomes friends with ricky, it would be inevitable that she became acquainted with kitty. and of course, kitty would probably tease delaney about ricky.

ooh tell me about Ricky's LI how do they meet?

Ricky’s love interest is named Delaney Grace Ballard. She’s still being developed, but her father was an extremely wealthy businessman who was arrested for (and convicted of) tax evasion and fraud. The Ballard family lost everything and had to move out of New York City. Delaney, her mother, and two brothers ended up in Stars Hollow as a reset during season two, probably around The Bracebridge Dinner episode.

Ricky first meets Delaney when he’s coming out of the ice rink, sweaty and carrying a hockey stick. He literally runs into her and knocks her down, fumbling to help her up. Delaney, who’s still angry about the move and grieving the loss of the life and family she knew, ended up being completely charmed by Ricky’s awkwardness. They both assume friendship and have a slow burn romance before finally kissing in the finale. They’re married with a kid and a second one on the way by the time A Year in the Life takes place.
