Central Themes of Characters

Was thinking about this a bit and wanted to make like a masterpost of the kind of overarching themes of a few of my characters/their arcs. Imma just list them and then put my reasoning under a cut so this post doesn’t end up stupid long.

Crisis: duty vs morals with a side of expectation

Codarii: responsibility, legacy, and the avoidance of both

Aovrio: revenge, power and trust

Siveta: confidence

Tashi: rejection and belonging

Corin: pressure and identity

and because i’m curious about themes other people have behind their characters i’m gonna turn this into a tag game :P do this for as many or few OCs as you want!! tagging one person for each oc here @badsithnocookie @wolfboywarmachine @abyss-wolf @sith-shenanigans @forceritual @badviolets (welcome to swtorblr :P) and anyone who sees this and thinks it sounds interesting

Crisis I’ve talked a lot about before, but for anyone who doesn’t read my blog lmao the cliffnotes version is that she’s loyal to the ascendancy, they sent her to work for the empire. the empire conflicts a lot with her moral compass. one of the big reasons she’s so loyal is because both of her older brothers peaced out and she wants to remove that black mark on her family

Coda I’ve mentioned before, but both her parents are high ranking member of the Republic military/war heroes. coda is not.... the most responsible person she is HUGELY selfish as evidenced by her running out of basic training and stealing a ship to become a smuggler, but there is always that slight tug back that keeps her from being a truly neutral individual in the greater conflict.

Aovrio is my inquisitor which meant she experienced the inquisitor backstory of growing up as a slave in the empire, before developing force sensitivity. and as a result of her own mistreatment and abuse she has turned into a person who has gained power and is lashing out with it to protect herself. so her arc is very focused on being able to break out of that dark side indoctrination of “everyone is going to hurt you if you don’t hurt them first” and developing positive connections based on trust in her own life. 

Siveta is my jedi knight, which means she has the most traditional “hero” storyline. so i chose to give her massive issues with self worth and belief in herself as well as impostor syndrome because to me personally seeing a character work through those just feels super fulfilling.

Tashi was exiled from her people as a teenager for being force sensitive and got rescued by the jedi. butttt she’s still a chiss by appearance and chiss are generally aligned with the empire so she’s still kinda side-eyed by a lot of people she’s on the same side as. which is a big reason why i made her a consular, and a sage specifically because of the huge focus on healing and helping people present in that storyline as opposed to just fighting evil in a physical sense.

Corin was the golden child of his family while Crisis was still just a baby. yeah they weren’t anyone important, but he had so much potential, he was going places, he was going to move up the ranks... and he hated it. so he ran away to try and find his own place in life. which currently is with the mandalorians, but that may change in the future.

1. Would they be recruitable?

Honestly? Yes for Coda, no for Vrio

2. Would they be a class specific character?

Coda I imagine would be an NPC in the world for anyone, but would only offer her quest/recruitment to a Rep side or Bounty Hunter character.

Aovrio would be Empire exclusive, but would have different dialogue based on class.

9. What would they say if you clicked on them?

Coda pre-recruitment/in the world:

“Hey, if you’re not here to buy, move along.”

“No offence, but I don’t need the Republic any madder at me than they already are.” (If you poke her as a Sith or Agent chara)

Coda as a companion:

“Less talky talky, more getting somewhere we’re not gonna get shot at.”

“I dumped the spice, I swear.” (If you’re a Jedi or Trooper)

“Ever considered renegotiating my cut? As thanks for all my hard work and stuff.”

“Hey-” looks around “-can we get out of here? I think I recognize that guy.”

“Is now the wrong time to say there’s a warrant out for me on this planet?”

“I’m turning over a new leaf. I’m a changed woman. Now if I could just go off on my own to do completely legal things for a minute.” (Jedi or Trooper again)

“Now this is the life. Just two pals, some blasters, and a whole lot of credits.” (If you’re a Smuggler or Bounty Hunter)

Aovrio:

“Have you got nothing better to do than bothering your betters? Leave, before I show you why Sith are feared.” (Bounty Hunter)

“Care for a duel? Or are the Academies turning out cowards these days?” (Warrior/Inquisitor during class story)

Sarcastically - “My Lord, how can I be of service?” (Warrior/Inquisitor post class story)

“And once again, the mice meddle in Sith affairs. I hope you aren’t expecting congratulations.” (Agent)
