Did you know that Oblio is actually present in the intro cinematic for Dance Central 3? Towards the end of the cutscene, he can briefly be seen angrily glaring at Dr.Tan in the reflection of his glasses.

Knowing that Oblio is present certainly recontextualizes Dr.Tan's line about things getting "real funky!" It somewhat implies that this line is directed less at DCI and is instead Dr.Tan's response to Oblio refusing to aid him in taking over the world of dance.

Anyway, here are some sketches for what I imagine Oblio was up to between refusing to join his father and being mind controlled.

(Dr.Tan is yet to realize that grounding your child for being disrespectful is NOT the same thing as handcuffing your fully grown son to a radiator to ensure he doesn't escape before you get the chance to mind control him.)

During a voiceline in the VR game, Oblio talks about his difficulties at making friends. Then, there's a part where he mentions that he's not interested in TV shows, except the ones about "the mafia spouses".

Now imagine him and the player hanging out at each other's houses, watching one of these TV shows. The player probably doesn't really care about the show, they just want to spend some time with Oblio.

Whoops this has been sitting in my drafts for soooo long! So I did end up sketching out some more outfits based on DC3, although this time it was for M.O.C as, much like D-coy, they were deeply neglected when it comes to outfit options.

I went for a more regal look, with the idea of this look being based on Dr.Tan defeating the player and remaining in the future as dance overlord.

Don't mind the notes, although they do provide certain context for the sketch.
