What is this?

Pink Onyx AU is a Steven Universe AU focused on interactions between Steven and Jasper and is intended to be read after you have finished Steven Universe Future, as it contains many many spoilers for the series. If you have watched it already, great! Welcome! The goal is to bring you a Jasper redemption arc that we couldn’t get due to time and cooperate restraints on the Crewniverse. I hope you enjoy!

I do not own these characters or their likenesses except for the single fluffy thembo fusion I created for the story. This is just a fan comic.

Comic is PG-13 for some angsty/touchy themes, minor blood, violence, and gem-cussing. Touchy-subjects will always be in a cartoon-ish metaphorical representation you would likely find on TV and be available for multiple interpretations.

When do you post?

Typically when you see this post pinned, I’m on a bit of a break, but when Nyx wakes up (this post goes away) the comic is due to be released 1 page at a time at 7am EST most days. I try for a daily release. Sometimes I skip a day if I’m behind. Episode release dates are always announced ahead of time by a few weeks.

Is this a romantic ship AU between Jasper and Steven?

Nope, more like an aunt and her nephew trying to figure it all out. No romance between these two here.

Is your Tapas updated at the same time?

Nope, tumblr comes first, and the tumblr will always have bonus content which Tapas will not. The Tapas for this updates after the tumblr version is completed. Usually same day or within a day.

How do I use the ask system for this blog?

You can leave a message, or even an object, for the characters to interact with. The asks you leave can be answered by myself, Onyx, Steven or Jasper within the realm of this AU. Your asks will have no effect on the comic story. Think of it like the actors are in their dressing rooms and you get to give them a poke while they take a break! As the comic story progresses, their replies to your answers may change! Their responses will be in-character depending on where in the story we are.

My note by the den (an ask) was never answered. How come?

Lots and lots of asks come in every day. I wish I could answer them all! Since I draw something to go with most answers, especially the character ones, they do take a bit of time. Sometimes, I get duplicates of the same ask, or an ask that may refer to something that spoils the story if I answer it. I might hang onto those asks for a later time! Or group them into categories to answer all at once. I hoard asks for 1 year in an attempt to get to them. If I missed yours, know I tried and I love them anyway! I hope it does not discourage you in the future.

What kind of fusion is Pink Onyx? Are they good or bad? Pink Onyx is a fusion of a protagonist and an antagonist, so their alliance is yet unknown, but they have Steven’s good heart and Jasper’s loyal nature. They also have Steven and Jasper’s flaws, so they can be volatile and emotionally explosive at times, too.

What are Pink Onyx’s pronouns? Onyx likes they/them, but also answers to he/him and she/her, especially when Steven or Jasper is dominant over one another. They also seem to take on a fluid role and prefer a she/her when in a caretaker status. They dislike it/its.

What does Pink Onyx sound like? Personally, I hear them as a youthful, masculine tone. Like Steven if a little older. But I also enjoy when people say they hear them as a gruff, Amazonian-type feminine. I enjoy and endorse both.

Do Jasper and Steven enjoy being fused to one another? For now, it is a struggle, but they enjoy what the other brings to the fusion even if they won’t say it.

Does Pink Onyx need to eat and do human things? If so, do they enjoy it? They don’t need to do them, but they do feel the discomfort without them. Things like breathing, eating, and sleeping are optional for Onyx, but they will become quite irritable if not allowed to do them. They greatly enjoy sleeping and trying new foods.

What does Jasper think about having human organs when fused? She’s pretty grossed out by the idea of organic matter going into her mouth and coming out of other places. The heart beating and lungs breathing she can feel for the first time, and it is highly strange for her to experience.

What is Pink Onyx’s favorite food? They adore anything watermelon flavored and Cookie-cat ice cream products

Does Pink Onyx have any special fusion powers? They do, and as they learn about themselves, more powers seem to come out. Each of their base component appears to be enhanced in a unique way. They have Pink Diamond at their core, so the destructive potential is also there.

Why is Steven hiding Pink Onyx from others? This AU occurs directly after the events of "I Am My Monster", so Steven is very emotionally, and mentally, raw. He fears judgement for running back to Jasper, who in the past, was part of so much trauma he already endured.

Pink Onyx seems to know nothing about human culture and gem culture despite being a fusion. What’s going on? Jasper and Steven agreed to fuse, but they have yet to open up to one another about much else. The fusion exists because they agree to do so, but Jasper won’t open up about her emotions, and Steven is so sensitive yet that he is not sharing because he knows Jasper won’t want to hear it. This causes Onyx to be unable to access both of their memories easily, but they can bring it out with enough effort.

Her eyes are (normally) red to reflect her time as the moon! I'm thinking on giving her a Dark Hour alt, not sure what the specifics are for that yet though...

She chose to make her battle uniform (?) look like Nyx Avatar. Other times she wears normal clothing. The SEES armband was from Minako (who was #4 in this AU, Minato was #3). Ryoji will have Minato's armband. Here's context to why they have them!

She kept the chain around her neck from her time being sealed away, mostly as a reminder to herself of what she caused.

Nyx is definitely more aggressive than Ryoji (she's not the most hostile one in the group though- hi Yaldabaoth), and tends to jump into fights forgetting that she can't use her giant deity form to sweep the opponents. When she does have her awakening and is able to use her more powerful form, her face reflects Nyx Avatar's when using split-consciousness.

She will tell you allllllll about the arcana!

She gets along well enough with the rest of the group, in her down time she's usually hanging out with Izanami

Nyx is still learning how to care... especially about Ryoji. Of course, now she feels like she should be watching over him, but doesn't understand why. Ryoji knows what a parent is obviously, Nyx only recently learns how humans care for their children. She recognizes now that Ryoji is her son, and is making an effort to care for him. It takes a while for him to accept her efforts. All that being said! She's very talented at putting enemies to sleep. Forever.

ACOTAR Headcanons

Rhys: 

Has had a skincare routine since he was a teenager. His mother taught him. 

And hair care (gels n everything)

Has like 15 university diplomas. 

Waxes. 

Has the highest bodycount. Everyone wanted to sleep with the crown prince (then highlord), and being as arrogant as he was, knew he had the females (and males) head over heels for him.

Plays piano because he’s a rich spoiled old money kid

To this day he sometimes blurts out some unchecked spoiled comment without realizing it. Cassian punches him as part of the deal. Once the archerons caught on, they also take turns. 

He once got a face piercing (nose/lips) just to spite his father. He got punished but kept it until he became highlord. 

Did a lot of things to spite his father actually. Including but not limited to: growing his hair out, dying his hair, getting a diploma in something not very legacy/bloodline like (sports medicine?), painted his nails (black ofc), got drunk in poor people bars like Nesta (when she learns about this…), and started wearing his shirts open to show his chest (which stuck until present day). 

Does in fact read smut. The best way for him to learn is by reading, so teenage rhys decided to read about sex to be better. It worked, but he got an interest in smut and still reads from time to time. Nesta never lets him live it down for the rest of their lives. 

Is the kind of person to correct your spelling and grammar. However, someone once did it to feyre and he responded that as the person to teach her to read, he is the one to correct her. 

Gift giving is his love language. 

Would watch game of thrones in modern and criticize every move. 

Doesn’t know how to do any chores. Feyre forces him to learn 

Doesn’t like animals only because he formed a bond with a dog when he was younger and when something happened (died/ran away) he cried and his dad told him to man up and it’s only a dog

He was like Simon from Bridgerton as a child: He learned to speak very late, which is why his father was borderline abusive and didn’t pay attention to him. He didn’t learn to speak until right before he went to the camps. Only amren knows, but rhys told feyre after nyx was born.

All three: 

on the camp, there was another trio that was everything they weren’t (pure blood illyrians from a noble line, got favored). The day comes when those three meet the archerons and the girls think they just want to be friends and the boys get jealoussss

Rhys takes them shopping. He’s up on the mini stage getting measured and tailored and cas is drinking on a couch. This is their gossip and complain time. 

They all speak Illyrian when they want to speak secretly. They never taught mor no matter how many times she asked because “it is a boys club” thing 

The archerons catch on and they eventually learn with help from bat boys, who then momentarily regret it because they don’t have a secret language anymore, but it’s the archerons who know crack the dirtiest jokes in Illyrian. 

When they were younger, they would share notes via this charmed journal that would winnow to whichever one wanted to write in it. Centuries later one of the archerons finds it and the boys jump over each other to get it from the girls cause it’s filled with teenaged thoughts (another headcanon)

They have a synchronized dance 

They used to have beach days but gradually stopped. They started again once the sisters said they have never been to the beach

They used to share a bed when they were younger. It was a hard fit, but rhys slept in the middle since he can disappear his wings. 

Cas and az didn’t leave rhys alone the first week he was highlord. Even in moments of silence. One of them was always within arms reach

They slap each others butt. At first it was a joke, but it became a competition of who could surprise slap the hardest. 

Once, az’s ex made moves on rhys, and rhys took the chance. This lead to the biggest fight between the two (up until the elain situation) until cas asked if they were going to let a girl get in between them. They made up and the next day rhys found out she was only with him for the power. Az comforted him when he cried. 

Engaged in locker room talk. Shared tips on sex. 

Rhys and az wear eyeliner/kohl on special but informal parties. Cas always smudges it so he’s quit.

Nighty Night

A fusion of two non-characters with no lines, next to no mention, and a bizarre combination power. Nighty Night is Bonesaw's surgical combination of deceased founding S9 member Nyx and alive at the time closing S9 member Night Hag. I guess Bonesaw forgot Night Hag was alive cos she still cloned her anyway. This nerd surviving Worm to never come up in Ward is funny to me. Every other surviving 9 member is in that thing. Anyway, since nobody is likely to ask Wildbow about them (myself included, I like that there's places in the margins where people can make doodles and headcanons) here's some fanfic ideas 1) Nyx and Night Hag can fuse and unfuse. Night Hag's power is to reform herself after death. Does this reform Nighty Night after she dies? Does this reform Night Hag and Nyx separately if Nighty Night dies? How does Bonesaw's surgery even hold up against a breaker state? Does Nighty Night reform with or without any modifications Bonesaw made like with Damsel?

2) Night Hag has access to more bodies at a time. Night Hag's power is to reform herself after death and there were upwards of 9 of her at the end of Worm. Even if Nighty Night can't fully respawn her other selves from Nighty Night, maybe she can reform her dead selves and partial limbs from her possessed terrain, granting her access to a bloody lot of extra parts.

3) Nix wanted to be in Ward but Nighty Night got to her first.

4) Bonesaw, Damsel, and the Number Man clones never mention Nighty Night cos they forgot she was alive, the same way Bonesaw forgot Night Hag was alive and cloned her between 8 and 9 times. Its possible Bonesaw even lost track of which one was the real Night Hag and ended up using the original to make Nighty Night. 5) Bonesaw, Damsel, Swansong, Spawner, Number Man, and the Harbinger squad know who Nighty Night is and just don't care for them at all. 6) Night Hag's shard is eating Nyx's a little more every day, infecting it like Night Hag infects the environment. 7) Nighty Night gets along with themself. Spawner and Murder Rat both were two conflicting mashups. I think it'd be funny if Bonesaw was trying to go for something like that or an interesting power mashup and just ended up making a more rounded and balanced individual than either was on their own. 8) Nighty Night is double trans. Fellas is it trans coded to stay in a breaker state all the time when that breaker state is just a goth lady? Night Hag is prime trans headcanon material and Nyx is a C53, and thanks to Sveta and Gregor we know that all C53s are allegories for being a trans with a disability. Anyway I think it'd be funny if they were both headed in the other direction and their fusion ended up happily squatting in the middle. 9) Nighty Night retired and lives at home with themself, sipping tea and watching the rain pour down on the windowsill on a cold night, sometimes even leaving the patio door open a crack to better hear the pitter patter.

3) what song describes your oc?

cassia is one of those ocs where the music i find for her playlist is almost all vibes and not really based on lyrics. it's the energy of the music, the way it makes you wanna move or bob or sing along. that being said: "rage" by hyper crush and "joyride" by kesha immediately make me think of her. lyrically, "i love it" by icona pop might be a good fit.

8) what hobbies does your oc have? what do they do to unwind?

cassia's major hobby is rollerskating! but she's also super into street art, and she enjoys beautifying her favorite areas of new york in a manner of silly or meaningful ways. when she's at home, she also enjoys random doodling--mostly ideas for graffiti or future street art--learning dances from her favorite music videos, and playing a variety of video games.

11) what was your inspiration for your oc?

i distinctly remember driving to my local movie trading company to see if they had any physical dvds for tmnt'03, and "girlfriend" by avril lavigne came on spotify shuffle. for whatever reason, i got the image of a pink-haired girl in rollerskates, and she wouldn't leave my head. cassia's my first tmnt oc, and i think she was always meant to be kind of like april in that she's a grounding presence in their otherwise chaotic lives. despite how high-energy and mischievous she is, she's extremely stable and does regularly go to therapy, which has made her more thoughtful and aware of others along with herself. her biggest conflicts come from being an out trans-girl in the 90s and early 2000s, but none of it is tied to her immediate family (her parents ADORE her). she is, for the most part, about as ''''average'''' a civilian in the tmnt'03 world as you can get. i dunno! i think i kind of just wanted to give them all another anchor of sorts, another safe haven. cassia's parents, oliver and esme, also become guardian figures to the turtles in a sense (especially mikey). esme loves to mother them.

1) does your oc have a voice claim, if so who?

god yes. nyx's voice claim is shohreh aghdashloo. the moment i heard her as enforcer grayson in arcane, i pointed at the screen and muttered: "you". as someone who's very picky about these sorts of things i seriously feel like it was gift-wrapped to me. >xD shohreh also provides the voice for the dragon in damsel, which is a dumb as hell movie but i will continue to listen to it for the sake of hearing her talk.

6) if your oc is in a fantasy setting, what profession would they be in the modern day?

kind of a weird question, since 'modern day' implies that this is more a difference in time period? e-e;; i imagine she'd likely still have assassin roots, but. after the rebellion succeeds, the republic begins to rebuild, and the games are disbanded, nyxram takes it upon herself to use her family's "estate" as a sanctuary for the animals used in the games, since most of them can't be returned to their natural habitats due to injuries and/or being raised in captivity. so! i think a potential "modern day" or "human" profession for her might be owning and managing something like an old friends senior dogs sanctuary. providing housing, love, and comfort for older animals when most folks want younger pets, and ensuring that their last few years are happy and safe. she's taken so much life, so... it feels like giving back, in a way.

11) what was your inspiration for your oc?

@/plantdonut doesn't live with me (alas), but if she did, i would have turned to her during our '03 rewatch a few years ago and asked, bluntly, "why do all the triceratons gotta be dudes? where're my giant, amazon warrior dinosaurs?". and within a few days, i was practicing my hand at drawing triceratons, so i could make it so. my two major points of inspiration for nyx come from cassandra cain (2nd batgirl, pre-new52) and john wick. cassandra for being... basically born and bred to be the perfect assassin, only to have 'too much' compassion and love and guilt and go hero instead, and john wick for being a 'baba yaga' to anyone who knows his name. not the boogeyman, but the one you send to kill the boogeyman. the idea of a triceraton assassin was very cool to me, given that they're often a straight-forward, loud, and blunt force to face with little concern for being subtle. it also draws an interesting connection to her and the turtles; at some point nyx comments that despite their practice being tied to assassins such as herself, any blood on their hands comes from self-defense. in some ways, she envies them. but in many more, she doesn't. she's the sole survivor of her clutch, and the only one of her siblings to 'earn' a name. she was, in a way, a political move--a gift/tool offered to the prime leader to ensure that her parents had a connection to power and could continue their own work with protection from punishment. ...they just didn't expect for her to want something else. since the triceratons seem to have a handful of 'nods' and aesthetics pointing toward the roman empire, i named nyxram after the greek goddess 'nyx', the personification and substance of night. i also specifically use greek spelling with her, whereas her parents will have roman spelling of their names to further emphasize her 'otherness' from triceraton society as a whole.

I don’t know how Tumblr works but here are some clone designs for my fanfiction Angel of the Iron Battalion!! I just think the 13th battalion are neat and it’s sad that we didn’t get to seen them as actual characters (though very understandable..) so I made them!

Here’s Nyx, our favourite trans (ftm) Commander with about 15 anxiety disorders and a need to protect every child in 50ft distance to him.

Hymn, the guy who met an angel ONCE and has not shut up about it since, to the point that he got their language TATTOOED ON HIS FACE. In love with an Angel girl he saw once that saved his life and he never saw again.

Havock, who thinks the more scars you get, the hotter you are (unfortunately he is right but by god can you stop running into explosions please). Would also protect every child within 50ft distance of him.

Liz, the representation for every obsessed crocheter out there. Has probably made little crochet covers for everyone’s armour by now, even though it’s highly useless. He’s say it keeps them warmer in the cold. Everyone is just too nice to say otherwise.

Fourv, another trans clone (mtf) except she has infinitely better eyeliner game than Nyx. Does she wake up before her shift everyday just to do her killer makeup? Nobody knows. There’s a rumour Brush caught her at it once but she threatened him under penalty of death if he told anyone. Everyone else just believes she came out of the tube with eyeliner pre done.

Lucky, a defective clone that was allowed to join and he makes it everyone else’s problem! As payback for being treated as the precious new shiny, he aims to be the most annoying little shit he possibly can, winning his name through his incredible luck winning games no matter what game he is playing. After winning all of Havock’s credits in a game once, he was banned from partaking in any with cash prizes. He thinks this is highly unfair.

And then Brush and Canvas, the twins! Both dumb as rocks and kind as hell. Brush likes to doodle on literally everything and say a dumb joke every five seconds and his twin Canvas is the more stoic of the duo, if only to save his ridiculous remarks for a time where they’d confuse the most people. Some think he actually puts it on as an act for fun, just because he likes annoying people.

And their battalion symbol! It’s sort of like an egg but also like kintsugi, both of which are very poetic for this specific battalion.

Hades Oc: Chloe, Pomegranate Nymph & Head Gardener of the House of Hades

Chloe is the Head (only) gardener of the House of Hades and one of the few underworld nymphs in existence, specifically borne of a pomegranate tree.

Taking the form of a young girl, Chloe is soft-spoken and keeps to herself, content to carry out her gardening duties. She will indulge in light conversation with whomever approaches her (usually Zagreus) but will rarely initiate interactions.

Giving her nectar will prompt her to give Zagreus the Pom Parer, which would allow him to upgrade two boons of his choice once per floor when he gets a Pom of Power.

Completing her bond will earn Zagreus the Chthonic Companion, Pom Pom. Using this summon allows Chloe to plant spiny pomegranate shrubs on the field that can ensnare enemies and inflict chip damage. Completing her bond involves having the House contractor build a rooftop garden for her next to the training area. (Garden could also be used for "date" interactions with other characters, much to her chagrin.)

It would probably never come up but she is capable of fighting, her gardening sickle as her main weapon and a switch made of a thorny branch as her back up, as well as some magic with her pomegranate seeds.

The tree Chloe was born from was one accidentally planted by Persephone when she choked and coughed up a pomegranate seed she was eating and lodged into the grounds of the garden. Thanks to Persephone's power, it had the magic needed to spawn a nymph, making Chloe Persephone's daughter and Zagreus' half sibling on a technicality. However, Chloe formed long after Persephone left and thus no one seems to have made the connection; as far as anyone is concerned, Chloe just appeared in the garden one day and became their gardener, and she would prefer it to stay that way.

Relations:

Zagreus: One of the few members of the House she regularly speaks to. She respects him as her Prince but also considers him a friend. She has her own opinions on how the people of the house speak to and of him.

Hades: Respects him as a god and master. Her personal opinions are best remained unsaid.

Persephone: Has mixed feelings towards the queen of the Underworld. On one hand, Chloe's glad she has returned but on the other, the fact she ran away in the first place makes Chloe believe she is irresponsible and unreliable.

Skelly: Very pointedly tunes him out

Dusa: The mutual respect had for a fellow tender of the House.

Achilles: Likes his voice and how he calls her 'lass'.

Megaera: Doesn't get to speak to her often but admires her whip proficiency. Often practices similar moves in secret with a thorny branch.

Hypnos: Always seems to be sleeping when she sees him.

Thanatos: They sometimes exist in the same space in companionable silence.

Nyx: Greet each other respectfully when passing in halls and Chloe ensure that the flowers in Nyx's corner are always fresh.

Charon: Business partners, they have a shared side hustle involving Pomegranate Wine being "exported" to the surface. Hades does not know of this.

Max Bond: I was never fond of the way that... certain members of this House spoke to you, or of you. It seemed so unfair when you had done nothing to deserve it beyond just not being what they wanted. As just a gardener, there was never anything I could do to help but for what it's worth; I was always on your side, Prince.

More villain doodles/hcs + a Virgo fun fact

Hello! I decided to make some random doodles of some of the ocs participating in @villain-oc-tournament! I’m a little busy so I wasn’t able to do as much as I wanted to, but I still wanted to make some stuff before the second round of the tournament began!

Before I get to the doodles, I noticed in the post for round two that the villains who are out of the tournament are getting coffee together. Maybe. So, I made a whole list of what I think those guys would order from Starbucks with my very limited knowledge of Starbucks drinks.

Nyx- quad espresso (Also eats espresso pucks)

Blue- that blue Frappuccino thingy that technically doesn’t exist yet but he got it anyway

Reverie- PINK DRINK

Sascha- caramel cinnamon cold brew

Zack- black coffee like the emo he is

Halya- iced flat white

Bevelyne- Chai latte

Kevin- PINK DRINK

Shay- Java chip Frappuccino

Entropy- something with pistachio

Mordiggan- PINK DRINK (he also broke through a wall)

Ratch- Pumpkin spice (it’s not even in season)

Sebastian- Matcha latte

Avarice- that one really expensive Starbucks drink from Japan

Pyramid- iced shaken espresso

Marigold and Zack’s snake were not allowed in due to no pets being allowed.

The first one is just non-serious drawings I did for fun. The second one includes one of my ocs, Rezi, interacting with some of your ocs! Bc why not. She’s cool.

And now for the Virgo fun fact I,,,probably should have brought up sooner lmao-

Virgroxaan isn’t human at all. Nobody knows exactly what she is…with one exception. Her form is made of concentrated dark matter. She looks somewhat human, but something is just…off about her. Something that prevents her from being fully perceived as human. This form makes it easy for her to corrupt and curse others. However, that being said, dark matter isn’t very stable and isn’t easy to regenerate. So, Virgo occasionally possesses an immortal being! She has broken the spirits of several immortals and basically turned them into “corpses.” This is one of those immortals, and the body she possesses the most often.

His name was Tamayan. He was a somewhat selfish, yet charismatic and fair person. Now he has lost any and all sentience and his sense of self. It’s unclear whether he can even be considered alive. He’s still girlypop tho.

It’s much easier to regenerate and appear human to others in this form, which is also why it is the form you will most likely see her in. However, it can be a little harder to curse/corrupt others. It also has another…interesting side effect. Although they aren’t overpowering, Virgroxaan is actually capable of feeling emotions in this form. Anger, sadness, fear, pride, disgust…they’re all possibilities now. She does not know how to feel about them. Is…confusion a possibility?

Someone gave her a music box and she was very confused at first

She wasn't given much as a kid since their parents thought they would end up breaking it with their tantrums

One to many of my friends been screaming to see me draw him a dress so i did a doodle of him in one. This is my character Nyx and he somehow turned from a serious villain into being called a femboy from my friends lol....(he does rock the fit tho)

Salmael is definitely the easiest to turn into a human since he already looks like one, but I still had a lot of fun doodling him, his design is so much fun (✿◕‿◕✿)

AU ramblings + No text alt are below!

For sure the most relaxed of everyone in the team. Salmael doesn't usually raise his voice, so on the rare occasion that he does, everyone listens.

Before finding EMMA, he acted as the navigator for the team, only joining in combat when necessary. After his awakening, he could use split-consciousness to detect any nearby signs of life. After EMMA takes the role of navi, he is able to better focus on attacks, specializing in pierce-type physical moves. I'm still working on magic typings for the group, so I'm unsure what his is!

He's Yaldabaoth's and EMMA's younger brother (✿◕‿◕✿) Salmael definitely acts like the eldest though.

Yaldabaoth doesn't understand how he is perpetually relaxed, while EMMA makes fun of his outrageously fancy lounging wear.

Salmael gets along pretty well with everyone, though he prefers to keep to himself. He was initially not a fan of Nyx, given the stunt she tried to pull, but eventually learned to accept her as she is now.

Satanael and Izanagi are way too extreme for him. He thinks they're dense, but he doesn't dislike them.

His deity state is now equipped with even more guns! I'll draw that out sometime soon... Fighting in his humanoid form though, he uses... a gun. Or any long weapon such as spears.

His hair? He has to do it up every morning. He is very high maintenance.
