18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end.

have you ever prayed for blessings in someone else's life?

for a moment, you are not last trains and airplanes and the way august cuts your tongue and makes you swallow it. for a moment, you are bookstore dates and holding hands and sharing hot mugs of green tea while you wind down to the six o’clock news.

for a moment, time stops—

—then he let go of your hand. it just made you laugh. 

what’s so important about being together? what are you to each other? 

in the end we are all alone.

so when i wrote this i wanted it to play out like a movie... you know when the sunlight flash-flashes on the water and you have, like, a highlight reel playing before your eyes? that's what i wanted it to feel like!!! just fragments of what-could've-been's... there's references to earlier parts of the story, so trains and planes = obviously tooru leaving and getting further away from reader, august = nostalgia, bookstores = naoki + reader and tooru's second meeting, holding hands = mittens, green tea and six o clock news = what they always do after they um fuck

i wanted it to build to a climax and then have it come crashing down because all of this—the wishful thinking, the holding hands, etc—are all in reader's head... this was pretty easy to write because i spent the entire story building up to this moment and once i finished writing it it felt so!!! cathartic!!! so it didn't change much heh

29. Where do you draw your inspiration? What do you do when the inspiration well runs dry?

everyday situations, feelings i can't explain (but try to), people, past experiences, my favourite films and books.... when i'm uninspired i go see the sea ^o^

omg this is a boring response but i don't really do anything that's out of the ordinary!!! hmm.... i always try to post on the dot? so, like, 2pm, or 3.30pm, stuff like that.... i don't like if it's a random time like 4.01pm.... yeaaahhhhhh
