Go ahead and mention this while I'm thinking about it (love how my brain does this without fail the minute I start responding to stuff) but, with Arthur in particular, there's a strong chance of offhand mentions of certain characters I actively role-play elsewhere.

Mira and 'Rem' are both BlackCell operators that Arthur's worked with in the past. While he isn't as familiar with Rem, he's been around Mira enough to be pretty fond of them and almost see them like a younger sibling. He knows there's something up with those two but, whatever it is, it's well beyond his pay grade/security clearance so it ain't relevant here.

And then the third 'npc' that will likely be commonly mentioned is Allison, his younger sister who serves with an American special forces TF and had previously served with Roze at one point.

What kind of creative/artistic works are allowed?

Any and all! Fic, art, zines, moodboards, gifs, edits, playlists, meta — if it’s motorsport RPF and Halloween-themed, it’s welcome!

What counts as motorsport?

If one of your main characters can be tagged under a motorsport fandom (e.g. any of the Formulas, IndyCar, MotoGP, etc.), you’re good!

What counts as Halloween-related?

Halloween-related can mean full-blown horror (serial killer in the paddock!), spooky (haunted car?), or, if that’s not your vibe, about Halloween more generally (Halloween is the one day a year when a driver can dress up like a total slut 😏). We’re happy to have you whether you turn your favorite driver into a friendly ghost or put them in a Saw trap.

Please just be sure to warn/tag your work appropriately, and please archive lock your fic if you're posting to Ao3!

Do I have to post to Ao3?

No! If you’d prefer, you can also post on tumblr. Just be sure to tag us @motorsport-halloween so we don’t miss it!

How do prompts work?

Anyone can leave a prompt on Ao3, but you don’t have to claim a prompt to participate — you can do your own thing and then post to the Ao3 collection or to tumblr when it’s time!

Updated QSMP AO3 Work Language Stats-- as of July 9th, 2023

Hello! Doing an update to my June 6th, 2023 QSMP AO3 stats post going over the languages QSMP works are tagged with, one month (approx.) later. Feel free to refresh yourself with last month's data, as I'll be referencing it throughout this post.

We're just going to start off with the plain stats, and then we'll do comparisons to a month ago as well as analysis. The analysis will probably be similar to last time, as I don't think a ton has changed. Long post ahead!

Fun tidbits at the start:

QSMP has 2147 works as of today (July 9, 2023)! That's a difference of 714 works from the original 1433 works, so about a 50% increase.

English is still the most commonly tagged language, and its percentage has actually gone up a small amount since last month. Brazilian Portuguese has also gone up to 3.07%, while Spanish has slightly decreased in terms of percentage.

Some new languages added to the mix! There's now one work written in Malaysian Malay, and French finally has some works.

Speaking of! There's now works in all of the four spoken languages on the server :D

I used the same methodology as last time, which was to manually filter by each language I expected to have works, then do the math to make sure I wasn't missing any. You can check the previous post to find that info as well as how I got my AO3 total works stats.

Okay! Now onto numbers:

Getting into the stats:

QSMP Works

The most commonly tagged language, like I said above, is English, with 1751 works or 81.56% of total works in the QSMP fandom tag.

The second most commonly tagged language is Spanish, with 317 works and 14.76% of the fandom. Next is Brazilian Portuguese at 66 works and 3.07%.

French has works now! There are 5 works, which is about 0.23% of works in the fandom tag.

And the next four are not spoken on the server, but several are unsurprising (discussed in the previous stats post, but reiterated below): Mandarin at 3 works and 0.14%, Russian at 2 works with 0.09%, Latin at 1 work with 0.05%, Esperanto at 1 work with 0.05%, and Malaysian Malay at 1 work with 0.05%.

Preliminary observations! English, like I said, has gone up a bit in terms of percentage, as has Brazilian Portuguese, while Spanish has gone down. It's not a huge percentage difference, but I'll discuss my limited theories as to why that change might've happened.

The only really new language this month, as French was expected to get works since it's spoken on the server, is Malaysian Malay. I don't know a ton about Malay in general, so I don't want to speak too much about it in terms of population, but if any Malay speakers or Southeast Asians familiar with it have anything to add, feel free! This work is a translation of an English work by the same author, which is rad; I'll talk a bit more about translations below. Otherwise I don't have any particular observations other than wanting to note that it's a new language and I'm happy to see it!

Across All fandoms

The most commonly tagged language is English at 10,154,701 works and 89.31% of all works on AO3.

Spanish has 133,743 works and 1.18%

Brazilian Portuguese has 31,218 works and 0.27%

French has 53,917 works and 0.47%

Mandarin has 638,576 works and 5.61%

Russian has 241,121 works and 2.12%

Latin has 165 works and 0.0015%

Esperanto has 106 works and 0.00093%

Malaysian Malay has 119 works and 0.001%

I don't have a ton of new observations for this, as I don't think any changes were all that significant, and QSMP is so much smaller than the total works that comparison is more helpful in terms of indicating which languages are typically used on the site versus commonly spoken languages, which don't always align.

Changes Since Last Month:

Like I said above, English, Brazilian Portuguese, and French have gone up in terms of percentage while Spanish has gone down.

Mandarin and Russian have both gained one work each, and Latin and Esperanto have stayed at one work.

New language! Malay has gained one work, a translation of an English work by the same author.

Time for analysis!

Analysis/Theories:

First thing I want to look at is the fact that Spanish has gone down in terms of percentage, and why that may be. The change is not wildly significant, and the fandom is growing fairly quickly, so I don't think it's a huge difference, but I still wanted to talk about it briefly. My biggest theory is just that as other languages have gained more works, Spanish has not grown quite as quickly in that time. Portuguese went up a bit, meaning its percentage has likely cut into Spanish's, alongside a few others gaining works. Remember that percentages work like a pie chart-- when one percentage increases, one or more of the rest must decrease. I don't have many other theories, and again, I don't think this is that huge of a difference.

French has works now! Honestly, this is completely unsurprising to me. French creators have had far more time to settle in, get involved in lore, and French fans have had more time to get interested in the server generally. Hope to see many more to come!

I don't have any significant analysis when it comes to the Malay fic, other than that I think the nature of QSMP will continue to encourage new fics in new languages. QSMP is about cross-cultural communication and encouraging people to speak their own languages as well as learn about others'; I think it makes perfect sense for people to want to write fic in their native languages, even more so than a typical fandom. Excited to see this continue, particularly in the case of minority and endangered languages.

Translation! I brought this up in the last post, so I don't want to carry on about it too much, but there are still plenty of works that are translations, which I think is very cool. Translation is a huge element of the server and of the fandom and I think it's really lovely that people took on the very arduous effort of translating theirs and others' works into other languages. Massive kudos!

Otherwise, I think my analysis from last time stands-- tl;dr, QSMP is far more likely to have Spanish and Portuguese works than AO3 generally because of the nature of the server, the server members, and the way that Spanish MCYT fandom in particular has grown in the last several years.

Last time I talked about Eng, Esp, and Prt-br speakers being really central to lore, and this time I would just add that I think several French members, namely Baghera and Etoiles, have made themselves significant within lore and just all-around fan favorites, so I hope to continue to see more works in French but also just more works about them in general. Cellbit is still hot, that hasn't changed, and I think the dynamics of streamer attractiveness aren't really something key to this kind of analysis, although they're certainly interesting.

Disclaimers, Conclusions, Final Notes:

I am not a statistician! I just think fandom stats are interesting. If I did any math wrong, please let me know. I also want to note that I'm not doing any particularly quantitative analysis here aside from turning work numbers into percentages, and that is partially intentional, as I don't think there's enough works at this time to do anything really strenuous, just to make some observations.

Going to copy-paste this note from last time, as well, as I think it's an important element about the multilingualism of the QSMP that is less common in other fandoms:

Due to the nature of the server, there is also a huge number of works that contain elements of multiple languages, ranging from a few works to a decent chunk of the dialogue swapping between languages. This is not completely unheard of in fandoms, of course, as there are many fandoms which provide the opportunity for multilingualism, but this is fun to note because it's so present in the canon itself. I would argue there's a decent number of fics that are themselves bilingual/trilingual/multilingual, and I wish AO3 had a way of tagging them as such. I'm not sure if there are any freeforms along those lines, but I have seen some folks noting in their tags that there's some amount of Spanish/Portuguese in them as well as English, and the same goes for the Spanish fics I've looked at.

^ I hope that continues to be a trend in fic, and I think that it continues the spirit of multilingualism both on the server and in the fandom.

Choices fandom appreciation shoutouts

This event is so so so lovely and I really want to join in hehe. I'm not great at expressing my thoughts/feelings and stuff but I really wanna try because I'm really thankful for all of u guys!! :)

When I first posted on this account last summer I honestly expected I'd probably post a few things and dip again because I usually don't get much attention on social media platforms. And also wasn't sure if anyone would really vibe with my approach to characters and stories hahaha 🙈.

But instead people were so nice and I felt so welcomed and like 'oh wow people seem to actually enjoy what I do??' And I had so much fun reading the tags left on reblogs of my art and stuff. And alongside that it has been soooo fun to see everyone elses posts and characters and leaving my thoughts on those as well (and slowly getting less shy about it too 💪). And I even started reading fanfic for the first time in my life hahaha.

I feel like I'm rambling but I just really want to say all this haha, it's been so fun being on here! I love drawing everyone's characters and other requests and will keep doing that (like pleeaase dont be shy, I love drawing everyone's characters) because it's fun and it's also kinda how I say 'thank you' for all being so nice to me!! So yeah thank you all for making me feel so welcome the past months! :)

Especially as someone who usually has trouble making friends and putting myself out there due to shyness it means a lot!

Ooof. Maybe spuffy? That met me at a very formative time of my life, and I didn't expect it to become so canon (as opposed to like under a spell etc) and I think that experience really reshaped my brain 🤯🤯🤯 but fundamentally faves questions are immoral thus this is a very rude question.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I hope I'll finish all of them, and do intend to! I'm not sure I'll ever write the hilarious abortion fic tho.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Mm, a love of language/interesting prose. A love of brevity/somewhat chiselled sentences. A love of editing/willingness to improve. Interesting stories. Dialogue, tho brio get little bc theyre annoying. Characterisation!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Well I violently dislike plot. I don't feel super strong on creating original characters. I'm slow! I'd rather let things be confusing than beat readers over the head with info, which I think can be detrimental. I wouldnt say my descriptions are super strong, though I think they've improved a lil. Sometimes there's too much internal monologue at a go which breaks up the pacing of an eg dialogue scene (though again think that's improved somewhat). My love of planning and love of pantsing are at constant war lol, I get grumpiest abt stuff not having been established earlier and thus needing to state things which couldve been well demonstrated. Blocking, sometimes. I love short stories and oneshots but I'm apparently prone to writing long fics & continuing things into series which I consider a real weakness, lol.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I'm not against it in principle, I've read a lot of books which contain a lot of eg French or Spanish (often untranslated). We've got access to Google translate or w/e right? I do appreciate it when translations are provided bc lazy (and I think Ao3 does poss let you do hyperlinked superscript?). I feel the same way abt it in fic as in other media I think -- if you're happy for it to be a bonus to those that understand and everyone else needs to work to figure it out, I concur. If you think it needs to be understood, then providing translations (even if just as notes @ the end) makes sense.

But I also think pls don't write it via Google translate... If u don't speak the language/don't have someone who can help u translate it, don't write dodgy shite Spanish or w/e 🙈 not everything needs to be literal dialogue u can just say 'he explained to his grandmother abt the change in plans' or w/e I swear

...o wait I'm guessing the q meant me as a writer not reader 🤦 I don't think I've done much of it? Altho I do always seem to imply that every character speaks French, a language I don't really speak so who the hell knows 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

So Lauren, what’s that tag you keep filling with shitposts and cow videos?

So a short forever ago @reverseblackholeofwords said they wanted more info about godherd, my current original story idea that has completely taken over my life, and i figured i really should try to explain it cuz like, if i cant that probably means I should rework the story to make a bit more sense to someone outside my orbit of brainrot.

So for the elevator pitch: Godherd follows the journey of Peck, the newest caretaker of a gigantic, colossus-sized Bull known as the Aurochs, revered in a bronze age-inspired world as a god, but that is slowly weakening as civilization establishes itself.

What is Godherd?

The easiest way to start is that the name Godherd is very literal. There are Gods, theyre being herded. The Gods are all roughly based off of animals that early humans formed relationships with, whether they be domesticated, hunted, or otherwise used for resources. And theyre all big. Like, really big. Like more mega than megafauna big. Like shadow of the colossus big. They're animals not only big enough to ride on, but to live on.

One such god is The Aurochs, a giant bull. And living on it is the Oxpecker, the Aurochs' priest of a sort; one part caretaker, one part herdsman, one part human representative of the God to mankind. Each of the different god has their own 'priest' that lives nomadically with it, guiding and protecting it as it travels the world. The story begins when the previous Oxpecker dies, and the Aurochs chooses a new Oxpecker, who goes by Peck for short.

Peck

This is Peck! She has no idea what she's doing!

Peck is the newest Oxpecker, and she is really feeling how big the shoes she's filling are. The Aurochs chose her? Not a wise sage or a priest who's trained at a temple for years, but her, some common kid just barely into adulthood? And sure, she was a cowherd with her family, but those were normal, non-diefic cows, not giant god cows that dont even listen to her half the time! Needless to say she was already gonna be stressed, and that's all without the plot nipping at her heels.

^tfw God is real and right in front of you but is as inscrutable as ever and you’re just trying to keep it alive but it seems determined to just walk into the most stressful situations possible and you are barely an adult (teens, but the life expectancy is like 30 here).

The Plot Shrike

This is Shrike! However bad Peck is doing, she’s doing worse, emotionally speaking.

Practically speaking she’s not doing too bad actually. As the self proclaimed priest for a pack of dieties called the Direwolves, she leads this group of giant wolfdogs into towns and settlements, taking food and killing livestock, and generally just draining the area of resources through overhunting before moving onto the next one. Which like, sucks for them, but she’s doing just fine! Really. It’s fine. She is totally fine and normal and not deeply afraid of her Gods waning in power as they become more domesticated and less wild and lashing out in an effort to grow belief through fear, of course not. Look, she just hunted down and killed a God for hers to devour that’s how normal she is. AND they’re actively hunting down another one, would a not fine person do that???

Wren

Picture to come eventually but… Wren! The most sacrificial lamb of them all.

Yeah so uh, that god Shrike and the Direwolves killed and devoured? That was hers. A mega Megaloceros aka Irish Elk. Very early on Peck comes across her and the Megaloceros’ corpse and it rattles her pretty bad. Really sets the tone for the incoming ‘twilight of the Gods’ that is happening. Wren doesn’t actually do much in the story past that point but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a deep love for her as the one metaphorically haunting the narrative. I mean, she’s been a priestess of the Megaloceros longer than Peck’s even known what one is, she’d trained and studied for it her whole life, and now it’s dead. She did everything right and her god still died. And if it can happen to her, what chance has Peck got?

Finch Fisher

Kingfisher! (Do not listen to Peck his names not Finch. It’s the language barrier.)

Caretaker for the Sailfish and another priest for a God Peck and Aurochs come across in their journey. Like Wren, he’s been doing this much longer than Peck has. Unlike Wren, who probably would’ve been very happy to meet a less experienced priest and give some friendly advice, Fisher is generally annoyed by Peck. Not in a mean way, just in a kinda unimpressed by her way. He does respect her at the end of the day though, and helps her out a bit when they cross paths.

Lark

Lark my beloved. If Fisher and Wren act as foils for Peck, Lark is a foil for Shrike, and they never even meet until the act 2 I havent fully developed yet. Another caretaker for a group of deities rather than an individual, this time a herd of Giant Bison, or Bison latifrons, and another caretaker by choice rather than by duty. But where Shrike is...Shrike, about all that, Lark is very carefree about it. He loves his fuckin job, dude. He is so thrilled to be doing what hes doing and is having a great time doing it. Peck will meet him later in the story and, without spoiling too much, he will give a much-needed perspective about the relationships between the Gods and their civilizations. If this story didn't depend on Peck being mostly solo and never staying in one place very long, she and Lark would probably be best friends.

Sedge

Sedge! I literally came up with him two days ago! I have no idea where he'll go in the story yet but he has a giant bee god and they have the weirdest fuckin relationship out of any of the gods/priests, no I will not elaborate. Also fun fact, Sedge is the only title not based on a bird!

The World

The world of Godherd takes inspiration from various prehistoric and bronze age cultures. Mainly ancient Mesopotamia and Sumer, but also alot more, which you can probably already see in Shrike. It's a world still in its infancy, with civilization still developing, and that's a big part of the themes of the story.

The Themes

Again, trying not to spoil too much on a project I am still outlining, but major themes I want to focus on include religion/faith, the relationship between humans and nature, and the way cultures develop and change. As I mentioned, the Gods of Godherd are all representations of animals humans have some sort of relationship with. Cattle and Dogs, Fish, Deer and Bison. These animals have been culturally significant, or we have depended on them in some way to provide food, shelter, protection, etc. This reliance on them gave them a sort of sacred status in the world of Godherd, and they never lose that reliance, but through the process of civilization forming that aspect becomes controlled. Animals get penned in, hunted down, domesticated. What happens when you domesticate your deity?

And I cannot stress enough that none of it is out of malice or cruelty on the part of humans, this is not a story about 'humans and industrialization bad domesticating animals is slavery'. This is done out of love. Shrike's fear of the Direwolves weakening isn't because people stopped believing in/worshipping them. The worship itself is what's weakening them. Their love and care sands down those sharp edges and turns something wild and uncontrollable into something tame and known.

And the Direwolves aren't the only ones feeling the effects, they're just the ones who have been affected the longest. We've had domesticated dogs for 30,000 years after all, compared to that domestic cattle are practically new.

There's only one Aurochs. Where's the rest of the herd?

The Vibes/Inspo

Search, Tags, and Tumblr

Tumblr's search functions are notoriously weird, but there's a few common things to know about how it works in conjunction with Tagging. First things first:

-Tags are for searching but also personal blog organization as desired. This is why some folks have weird/funny personal use tags. Tags can use dashes and spaces, but not regular double quote marks ("), though single marks are fine (').

-Tag for what's in the post; adding other, unrelated tags "for visibility" is against Tumblr's TOS and gets you reported for Spam!

Example: if you make a post for your new Clive Rosfield screenshots, make sure you're only tagging terms relevant to Final Fantasy XVI and Clive Rosfield (and any personal organizing tags like "screenshots"); don't add tags like "Star Wars" and "SpongeBob", as Clive has nothing to do with those!

-Tag without censoring words! We use filters/blacklists here to avoid things we don't want to see. Can also work for words in the body of a post. There's no rules here against using "kill" or "death" or other terms defining common human experiences determined "too negative/dangerous" on other sites (stay civil to each other).

-If you do alt-spell things, it's only in the body of a post and usually when it's dislike of a fandom thing as a courtesy to those enjoyers. If I make a shipping post and say, for example, "I can't stand R3y|o", that's when I want to use weird spelling and symbols--and no common tags for that fandom! If you do use tags for organizing, keep it to things like "#anti (thing) or "#(thing) critical", again spelled correctly for others' blacklisting purposes and to keep it out of the Reylo Search and Tags so those fans can enjoy their ship without seeing negativity. Because...

-General Search pulls from Tags and Also terms found in the body of a post. If I just put "Thancred" in the Search bar at the top of the page, it'll show me any and all posts with "Thancred" in them, including 1) if the name is in the body of the post, 2) if the name is in a tag that's a sentence/includes other words, and 3) even if not tagged for Thancred.

This caused some wank a couple years back for certain fans when someone tagged a lascivious picture set with what they knew was a triggery NOTP for many...but they also put the characters' names in the post body, not realizing simply searching for either of those characters would pull it up (They also, IMO, should have put the images under a Read More to be doubly safe, for themselves and for others they knew might be upset stumbling onto said images, but the crux was not realizing how Tumblr Search worked).

-Tag Search specifically pulls from the tags; per Tumblr's info pages, the first 20 tags (out of 30 total allowed) now will show up in search. Common, consistent tags first are good for visibility. You can also Follow tags you want to keep track of; there's even a tab on your Dash for it.

-Reblogs do not show up in the searches, even with additions and new notes. However, a blacklist filter will catch tags put on the original post, even if the reblogger doesn't add it when it ends up on your Dash.

-You can also blacklist blog names/URLs. Think of it like Twitter's muting rather than a full block (though one can do that too, and should as needed).

Example: someone following Seanan McGuire doesn't like frogs, but she reblogs a lot of frogs. The follower blocked and blacklisted the blogs she often reblogs frogs from to minimize the number of frogs they see while still following a favorite author for her book info.

-If people ask you to tag a thing cuz it's a squick or full-on trigger, you can just do it, or you can politely say no; that's valid. It's up to that person then to decide if they want to blacklist or unfollow or block or what. Just be civil either and both ways.

In summary: if you're talking about bunnies cuz you took pictures at the local farm show, just write "bunnies" normally in the body and/or tags of the post, so anyone with "bunnies" blacklisted can avoid it--and folks who want to see cute pics of bunnies can find it!

Even if you use proper tags, or no tags, or only use alternate spellings in the post body to keep things out of the tags/searches, consider still using a Read More as a last line of courtesy to any followers or random folks you don't want to catch in the crossfire. Also consider hiding your blog from Search results, and/or Private posts.

Tumblr's Help Center (On Desktop browser, go to the "About" link, and then the "Resources" menu; on Mobile App, go to Account settings, General settings, scroll down to "Help" under "Account") has further info about Searches and Tagging (and everything else!), and as that info changes, it's a good idea to keep track of those page updates, as well as the @changes blog to keep track of new updates, bugs, recent fixes, and upcoming info.

Getting this started early this year.

A little PSA for animal owners in places where fireworks are a known occurrence:

Keep your animals indoors during fireworks evenings. I don’t care how well behaved or well adjusted or “chill” your pet is. I don’t care if your fence is escape proof or they’ve never been bothered by it before.

I worked at an animal shelter and in the days around firework holidays we were full to bursting, and it was always the “chill” ones who “never did anything like this before.” Unfortunately, we also heard the same story from the local emergency vets.

Repeated loud explosions and lights and colors in the sky can make even the best-behaved animal lose their mind; they have no framework to process it, and no way to understand what's happening or why or when it's going to stop, or whether it's going to hurt them etc. And even if they were fine with it in past years, formulations for fireworks can change, and maybe this is the year that the pitch is just right (or just wrong), or two go off at the same time and something about it pushes the wrong buttons and suddenly there goes Scruffy over the fence you swore Houdini himself couldn’t escape.

Set them (and you) up for success and safety this fireworks season.

Keep them home, and put them inside. Don’t let them out during fireworks hours. Get all the potty trips in before the sun starts going down.

Make sure they have their collar with tags on, just in case they slip out while someone is coming home or leaving for work.

Cover windows. I saw more than one dog with head injuries from charging at the window during fireworks shows.

Set up a safe zone for them. Offer treats and favorite toys, and consider white noise or soft music to help drown out the sounds. Make it a puppy/kitty spa night with things they enjoy to help counteract the stress of The Unknowable Horrors going on outside.

If you know your animal is reactive to sounds like thunder, loud engines, or gunshots, they will most likely react to fireworks too. Deploy anti-anxiety measures like calming sprays, a Thundershirt, and/or a blanket-covered kennel (if kennel trained).

Also, general tips for making sure your pet gets back to you if they get lost at any time:

If your pet is microchipped, call the company now and make sure your current, correct contact info is registered to the chip. Chips don’t do squat if it doesn’t link back to your information. I can’t tell you how many times we had a microchip show up on the scan, but the people never registered it because they didn’t know that was something they had to do. Check in at least once a year to make sure you’re still in the system!

If you don’t already know where your local animal control takes strays, find out now. (You especially don’t want the added stress of having to find out on or around a holiday while you’re frantically searching the neighborhood and making posters.)

On that note, have your local animal control’s nonemergency number written down or in your contacts somewhere. As soon as you lose a pet, contact them and let them know. Sometimes they will be willing to bring the animal back to your home instead of taking it to the shelter/pound, which could save you the fees.

Keep your animal’s current vaccination and registration tags on their collar at all times. In most places, you will get fined if your pet is found outside your property without them. Some places even have it down as a misdemeanor.

Controversial take: keep their collars on them, even at home. I know a lot of pets prefer to be “naked,” and sometimes it’s annoying to hear the jingling. But pets can be sneaky when they want to make a break for it, and the annoyance is totally worth it if it helps get them back to you, and/or avoids a citation.

Slightly less controversial take: If someone is pet-sitting for you, make sure they keep the collar and tags on at all times no matter what, no excuses. Most home escapes happen on someone else’s watch. Don’t get cited for the sitter’s slip up. Make sure they know it’s a non-negotiable.

Special notice for cat owners: Don’t freak out if your cat doesn’t show up at the shelter right away. Dogs are generally bigger and more noticeable; people report and catch them quicker than cats, because cats are really, really good at hiding and getting away from ‘predators’ (aka, strangers with a catch bag). They have amazing survival instincts, which tell them to hunker down first rather than wander in a panic. They will find a safe place and wait for quite a while, venturing out only to look for food and water. It’s normal for a lost dog to turn up at the shelter within a few days of being lost, but a cat can sometimes take weeks to come out of hiding. If Fluffy isn’t at the pound 2-3 days after you lost her, don’t panic and give up. Keep looking! At least once a week so you don’t miss her! We had a guy come check in every week for a little over 3 months, and actually found his cat. It was found less than a mile and a half from his home, within 3 blocks of where it had escaped from his car. Obviously this isn’t the norm, but it can happen, so please don’t give up hope after just a day or two.

I was wondering if there is anywhere to give information on lolita items to be documented/archived on lolibrary? I have a couple of items that have tags that aren't on lolibrary, but I'm never 100% sure how/where to post about them to be archived. Love the work that you guys do <33

Lolibrary is a volunteer driven project, so if you want to have something added to lolibrary either you can add it yourself (anyone can add things :) ), or you can ask if someone can make an entry when they have time, just mention you don't feel comfortable doing so. The easiest way to do this would be to post on our discord: https://discord.gg/8BNtquwaJS If you have partial information about an item (not enough info to make an entry yet) you can post it in the item identification forum on lolibrary's discord and get help from lolibrians. Once enough info is gathered, you or a lolibrarian can make an entry (if you would like someone else to do it, just mention that you don't feel comfortable making entries yet in the post and someone can totally do it for you). You can also talk to the more senior lolibrarians and get help with making entries yourself if you want to on the discord. I will say there is a backlog of about 190 items in the approval queue right now so, we are a little behind in approving new entries, and things aren't going super fast right now, but in general, it's always great to have new people making entries and sharing information :) If you have info for an entry that already exists, there should be a submit a correction button that will show up when you are logged in on lolibrary. That takes you to a google form which puts the info into a spreadsheet for one of our senior lolibrarians to process (Typically Sage Blossom does these)

you can join whenever you want. if you're interested, fill out the google doc and i'll get you a bingo card!

when are fics/art/moodboards due by?

this is a year round event, but since a good amount of holidays fall around the late november/december time period and i want folks to have time for celebrations and family time, i've marked the cut off point as november 10th.

what are these bingo cards gonna look like?

every person who signs up will get a personalized bingo card. for example, this is what i might make for myself:

for example, let's say one of your character prompts is jango and you're not really interested in writing your oc/reader into a relationship with him. that's okay! so long as jango has something to do with the story (he's serving as wingman for a clone, he's hunting the main characters, etc), then you can write whatever you'd like.

do i have to write a long fic? do i have to write a certain word length? can i draw something instead?

let your creativity take you wherever it wishes to go! obviously don't just write, like, 5 words or something, but any length is acceptable.
