I finished RWBY Volume 5!!

Loved it!! After volume 4 was (understandably) a bit slower-paced, I didn’t expect things to get intense and serious this quickly, but I’m glad they did! I have so many thoughts I wanted to write down, so here we go:

[There will be spoilers for RWBY up to Volume 5 in this post (duh). Please don’t leave spoilers for anything after Volume 5 on this post, otherwise I will block you.]

- I have to say, I definitely liked Cinder more when she wasn’t talking. During Volume 4, I kind of started feeling bad for her on some level, but then she got better and started being her old condescending, power-hungry self and I was like… nevermind, I hate you again.

- Qrow being super drunk when he first brings Oscar home was absolutely hilarious.

- Yang is SO COOL. Have I mentioned that she’s so cool? Like wow, I wish I was that cool! The bike, the new (amazing) outfit, the way she just punched that creepy guy and walked right up to her mom’s bandit camp making demands of her – she’s so cool and I’m here for it.

- Yang and Weiss’ reunion was so sweet! 😭 I was waiting for literally any of Team RWBY’s members to reunite and that got me right in the feels! (Also, I loved the whole “Wait, your mom kidnapped me?” “Wait, you kidnapped her?” exchange - brilliant 😂.)

- Ruby’s reunion with Yang and Weiss was so sweet, too! 😭 Tears were definitely shed over reunions in this volume! And it was so nice to finally have most of Team RWBY and what’s left of Team JNPR back together and see them bond and catch up with each other 😭. Found family back together! It’s what they deserve!

- Yang being so angry at Blake for leaving makes perfect sense, imo, especially considering her own abandonment issues. And even more so considering that she lost that arm while protecting Blake. Also, I don’t think it’s reading too much into it to say that Yang and Blake’s interactions and their storyline together have had romantic undertones since volume 2. (And no, I’m not just saying that because I ship Bumbleby; it’s the other way around – I ship Bumbleby because those romantic undertones were there in the first place.) So yeah, Yang always tried to help and support Blake, lost an arm protecting her from her abusive ex, and then Blake just left – I get why Yang’s hurt and angry. And that moment where she goes from complaining about how she just wants to be there for Blake, before finally admitting “What if I needed her there for me?” - that’s a really good moment for Yang, even beyond the romantic subtext. It’s nice to see Yang admit that she also wants someone else to be there for her, that she wants to receive that same love and care in return.

- I also want to point out that it’s nice to see how far Weiss has come since volume one. She really took a level in kindness and became a lot more mature, to the point where she’s now giving Yang relationship advice. It’s really nice to see.

- Ruby’s talk with Oscar about Penny and Pyrrha really got me teary eyed.

- I wasn’t that fond of Sun at first, but he had some really great moments in this volume, so he’s starting to grow on me now. I still don’t ship him with Blake, but their friendship is sweet.

- And now, let’s talk about THE standout character of the whole volume for me: ILIA!! Holy hell, I love everything about her! You know how some characters grow on you over time, and then there are those characters that you see one episode with and they just become instant favourites? That second one was Ilia for me. I watched Blake’s character short before Volume 5 and the moment I heard her backstory she jumped right to the top of my favourite character list without question AND I started shipping her and Blake right away. (Yes, I love Bumbleby and all, but I’m a multishipper. I’m perfectly capable of equally loving two ships that contradict each other.)

- It’s just – Ilia and Blake’s dynamic got me hooked! Not to compare everything to my OTP (Catra and Adora from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power), but let me quickly make this comparison: Two girls who grew up together, were both members of a certain evil organization until one of them left it and the other didn’t, now they’re on opposing sides and have to fight each other, but they still clearly care about each other. Plus, there are confirmed romantic feelings from at least one side there. I know many people (including myself) have compared Bumbleby to Catradora before – because you’ve got one blonde jock and one catgirl – but when it comes to the dynamic and the backstory, Blake and Ilia (what’s that ship called? Catmeleon, I think?) resemble Catradora even more. And it’s just the kind of dynamic I’m weak for.

(Honestly, it’s kind of funny how predictable I am both when it comes to favourite characters and favourite ships. My sister, who got me into both She-Ra and RWBY, took one look at Catra years ago and immediately predicted that I would love her. And when she first saw Ilia, she also immediately knew she’d be one of my favourites. Basically, my sister once described my “type” of favourite characters as “troubled, cute and gay” and that pretty much sums it up.)

- Speaking of troubled, cute, and gay: I’m glad RWBY finally has some CANON LGBT representation! Hell yes for that! Honestly, I interpreted Ilia’s feelings for Blake as romantic right away, but I wondered if it was just bait or my usual tendency to see romantic undertones in any interaction between two girls. But then that “I wanted you to look at me that way” line happened and… WOW. Yes. Amazing, talented, brilliant, never been done before, showstopping, incredible. I’m 100% sold on both the ship and Ilia as a character.

(One more thing before I change topics: I try to keep these posts positive and not get into discourse too much (since I’ve heard there was (is?) a lot of discourse in the RWBY fandom – but I took just one look into the tag for Volume 5 and immediately saw people arguing that Ilia’s not good representation because she’s a villain. And I just want to quickly address why that’s nonsense, in my opinion (and before you ask, yes I am a lesbian myself): First of all, she’s not even a full-blown villain. She’s clearly shown as confused and misguided from the beginning. And her feelings for Blake are never portrayed as a negative thing. She also has a redemption literally two episodes after being revealed to be queer. And in general, I don’t think queer villains are necessarily a bad thing and I’m tired of queer characters not being allowed to be flawed. How come straight characters get to just exist, but any queer character better be a shining beacon of morality or else they’re bad representation? I agree that RWBY should introduce more queer characters to balance things out a bit, but I wouldn’t say Ilia was bad representation by herself, since she’s a character I think we’re meant to have sympathy for.

- Now I just hope that future volumes of RWBY don’t pull a Bury Your Gays and kill Ilia off... I’d really hate that. (No spoilers on this post, please!)

- The entire fight at the Belladonnas’ house had me so on edge the whole time. I thought someone (most likely one or both of Blake’s parents) was going to die any second. Basically, the ending of volume 3 burned me and now I constantly expect characters to die. I’m glad it all (mostly) turned out well!

- Blake’s speech to the Faunus might have made me a bit emotional. That was a really great moment for her.

- And then there were those final episodes… WOW. Like I said, I really didn’t expect everything to go down so quickly (or for the ending to be that happy – like I said, volume 3 burned me.)

- Jaune unlocking his semblance was nice! And I’m proud of myself for having correctly predicted that he’d have some sort of healing powers. (I was waiting for him to unlock some healing semblance back when Qrow got injured in Volume 4 – I’m glad it finally happened!)

- I was worried about Weiss for a second, then I realized there’s no way she can die since I’ve already seen pictures of her outfit in later volumes. (Plus, I’m pretty sure if a main character had died, I’d have been unable to completely avoid spoilers about it. So those 4 are pretty much the only ones I’m not that worried about.)

- Raven is a really cool and interesting character, but an awful person. (I got so angry at her when she blasted Ruby after Ruby was just so nice to her*. How dare you, lady?) I love her design, though!

[*EDIT: I just rewatched it and realized that it was Cinder who blasted Ruby, Raven just created the portal. Point still stands, tough.]

- The plot twist of who the Spring Maiden really is was EPIC. Really loved that reveal! (And I honestly didn’t see it coming.) Though I have to say, I feel really bad for Vernal, and for the previous Spring Maiden.

- The Cinder VS Raven fight was absolutely epic and just stunning to watch visually. I was wondering if we’d ever get a maiden vs maiden battle, and that scene more than delivered! And while I don’t particularly like either of them, I was definitely rooting for Raven in that fight.

- I’m not sure if Cinder really died there. If so, I’m honestly not too sad about it, but I would be disappointed because I kind of expected her to become a more interesting character later on. After Volume 4, I expected at least a bit of growth there or something that would make her more interesting. And I’m not talking about a redemption, just to be clear! I just think the potential to make her more interesting as a villain was there, and if they just killed her off it’s kind of wasted now and she stayed a very flat character until the end. But I guess we’ll see.

- Raven and Yang’s confrontation was pretty intense. I liked that Raven finally had to admit that she’s afraid and doing all of this just to protect herself, and the contrast to Yang, who is also scared but still does what she thinks is right. And the fact that Raven was willing to let Yang have the relic despite the danger that would put her in – mom of the year indeed 🙄.

- Blake and the other Faunus are the real MVPs of the battle, tbh. The fact that they just completely stopped Adam and the White Fang by sheer numbers and didn’t even give them the chance to attack anyone? God tier stuff. And when Blake’s mom came in with the police? 10/10, we stan.

- Also, Blake telling Adam she’s not there for him? Hell yes, girl! I love how she’s taking power away from her abuser by showing she isn’t doing any of this for him. Really nice.

- Yang and Blake’s reunion in the last episode was super nice. I like how there was so much attention on that reunion in particular. And while I’m glad Yang wasn’t too angry at Blake and it makes for a nice happy ending, I still hope there’s a scene next volume where Blake properly apologizes to Yang for leaving and explains her side of things. And then, they should get together and live happily ever after and have lots of kittens. I mean, what?

- And finally, all of Team RWBY is back together! And they’ll have a lot to catch each other up on. Blake doesn’t even know about the maidens, the relics and Salem yet, while the rest didn’t even know about the White Fang attack. Also, I want Blake to introduce the others to Ilia and to her parents.

I really loved this volume. Lots of action, lots of really sweet moments, lots of epic fights and cool plot twists. I find it hard to rank them, but this might have been my favourite volume yet (volume 3 was also really good, though).

Adora’s character study

This will be a very long read as Catra’s (WARNING:  VERY very very long read)

Alright now we will start from her as a child.  

As i mentioned before Adora was very “the more friends the merrier” type of person but she also had an obedient solider personaly or as i like to called it robotic like. Why exactly robotic? well she wasn’t as exactly allowed to show weakness or non obedience infront of others ( even Catra). Adora see’s herself as somebody who needs to fix things so that she is useful, as long she is useful to others her life has a meaning. It is like you are living your life on a repeat. Shadow weaver saw her in same eyes as she seen Micah a shortcut to gain more power or even higher status. For her even if Adora became Hordak second in command (which was her rank in begging of the season 1 mind you) it wouldn’t matter. Adora wouldn’t fight back, as sad as it sounds, Adora’s destiny in the Horde would be same as it was in Light’s hope eyes to become a living ���weapon”. Of course me saying that she has those tropes of a obedience, dosen’t exactly mean that she was non emotionless person, she allowed herself to be happy whenever she was with Catra and she wanted Catra to be happy but of course she was aware how SW treated her but as a child she couldn’t do as much. While i do think Adora wanted SW approval as much as Catra did it was because as a mentioned her entire life was based on how much she was worth to somebody else (and of course thanks to SW parenting we seen how worse it get’s each other season). I do want to say that Adora wasn’t exactly in “love” with Catra as a child, if i were to quess i think it would have been where Catra decided not to go with her, then is when she became stressed of the thought that she lost her friendshop with Catra which was so precious to her.

That was more of a insight which would help us get some light in Adora’s mind and her character now onto the seasons.

Season 1

We see Adora genuinely  into believing Horde’s cause and making sure that she takes her training as serious she can. No short cuts, pure timing and traning till she thinks she is ready for the real thing. She is seen in people’s eyes as a leader and somebody who is worth to be a force capitan, however in her eyes she see’s a sea of tasks which uphold on her future. She get’s ready for the traning but notices that Catra’s late which does alarm her but she see’s it as usual thing when she just roll’s her eyes and just goes on the mission with her team. Since Adora is the leader, she manages to fight off and coordinate her team (oof for baby kyle). When they managed to defead the robot, in confusion she forget’s that she is on a red field and almost fall’s down in which Catra comes and she saves her with some of teasing. Then we see how their relationship really is but we also seen the cracks in it as soon as SW entres the door. SW is more like a monitor dog for Adora, as soon as she get’s soften with somebody and especially Catra since SW see’s it as a distraction to her plans. Sw takes Adora on walk and tell’s how “proud” she is on her while Adora does seem soften by those words and takes pride when she get’s her force captian rank and badge but Adora get’s greatly concered with the fact that Catra won’t be with her when she goes into the fields. After the talk Adora get’s fresh air to think about her thoughts and future in which Catra comes and teases her. Of course Adora just goes with it but we notices those cracks which SW put on both of them. While Adora wants to prosude her rank and go to the fields so that she can prove herself useful she still is sad that Catra can’t come but it feel’s as if Catra is not proud of how far she is come, while Catra does seem to have some jealousy of the Adora’s success (however as mentioned she is this way because she wants to be with Adora and she wants recognition from Adora and SW) but Catra is still genuinely happy even tho she tries to hide her emotions from Adora. Adora does notice it so she offers to go on a joy ride with Catra so that they can take a fresh air and get away from their own thoughts and from that moment (which in eyes can seem like a small one, joy ride but that decision what Adora’s own and from that moment the catradora’s story truly start’s). Over fast speed, Adpra get’s knocked down by a tree and she get’s thrown out the flying vehicle, she notices that she is alone so she tries to survive and get’s some clues where she is but then she notices some flashes and wakes up back at horde. Adora being confused and dazzeled yet curious what was meaning of it sneaks back to go there but this time Catra notices it and tries to stop her but Adora tires to reason with Catra to give her some time to figure out what’s going on telling her “ i will be back just cover for me please” and Catra seem’s resistant but trust Adora that she will come back and accept her words.

Adora sneak’s out with the hope to at least try to understand what has been calling her. When she finds the sword is is confused but she probably thinks that she can use this sword to have a higher chances to win the war between horde and rebellion, when she touches the sword Bow and Glimmer find her (they started to scream) but honestly i love the fact how she was silent and as soon as they started to scream she went to grab the sword. Of course fight happeneds and they all don’t trust each other (of course) but she dosen’t exactly go to far as to hurt them, she starts being silent until she notices the the ruins and something is familiar yet wrong.

When she starts to feel a bit of warmth being in the village and kind of childish curiosity which show’s that she never had a chance living her childhood as a child, only as a solider. After some time trying to adjust to Bow’s and Glimmer’s company horde attacks the village. Of course Adora seeing this shocks her because by her own understanding the village shouldn’t be the target of the attack. When Catra show up to save her, Adora dosen’t want to go saying that it is no right and that horde is attack innocent people, of course Catra goes like “duh you just noticed that now’”. Now i understand that people will think that Adora was dumb or too innocent but that isn’t exactly the case, Adora is aware of the war, the reason why she believed horde needed to win is because they fought for justice, horde was military force in her eyes but she saw horde as a justful cause because keep in mind people who are with horde are also etherians also the fact that she is aware that people who are there are also children with no parents like her so she believed that rebellion was a reason why this all happened so i understood why she was a bit confused because she said herself “but place supposed to have a peaceful reputation with horde”, Adora wasn’t dumb nor innocent she saw it though solider eyes that is why she wanted to fight. Of course her choice put’s rift between her and Catra but gives her another cause. 

At rebellion she is scared what people will think of her but also accepting that it won’t be easy for her to be part of it.  When she is hidden from others she can’t exactly stand still so she goes to train outside to be she-ra but it isn’t working. When she transforms horse into an unicorn she is honestly scared of the fact she changed a horse into something else (honestly i believed she thought that she just forcefuly made a horse into something else) and by doing it so she trips and her horde mark is left exposed which makes guards to attack her and she run’s away. She find’s madam Razz whom she founds that she knows much more about her then she know’s herself so she follows her, managed to defeat a horde camp and return’s to rebellion castle as she-ra. She bow’s down before queen Angela and even tho she wan’t to help her cause she can’t hand from the fact that she was with the horde, even tho people are scared that they saviour was a horde solider she get’s a vouche from Glimmer that she can be trusted.

However Adora still struggles that maybe people see her as a weapon then a person but she still decides to help them even if it is so.

Princess prom was probably the epizode which i believe that Adora’s feelings for catra started to shown even tho she was angry at catra she still didn’t want to hurt her but now that catra stolen her friends she had no choice but to save them as fast as possible.  

When she goes there she does get caught but ask’s for glimmer to be free and her to be caught instead, SW being being melicious wants to wipe out Adora’s mind and still have Glimmer as a prisoner (which show’s how desperate SW is to have adora to her side).

When “promise” epizode happeneds (just a quick eyesight for Adora) it is shown that she was very protective over catra but she couldn’t do much when it came for SW since yes she wanted to impress her but she known that she couldn’t stand up to her but at least she could make sure that had a company and a friend with her. Adora isn’t exactly aware or dosen’t see anything wrong with her being overprotective because she really wants catra not to suffer anymore in life but she is confused to fact that catra dosen’t want to choose to come with her.

When catra “cuts ties” with her she in desperate plea beg’s catra to help her but when she notices that catra isn’t comming back she accept the fact that past is past and chooses to let go.

Upon the final fight when she get’s pressure of not being able to save the day so upon accepting that she can’t do this alone, the princesses team up and save the day and it end’s in adora and catra staring at each other being aware that it is end of their friendship.

Season 2

(season 2 and 3 will be short, and season 4 and 5 maybe a little bit longer since season 1 kind of set’s up the story already actually)

In season 2 we can slowly see’s the martyr complex which Adora is carrying upon her shoulders. It show’s just how much she is insecure and confused about who she is and she also stops worrying from her own being. Her mind see’s she-ra as another person and herself as somebody who is just a need in order to transform to she-ra and it dosen’t help that Light hope persuades that way of thinking into her just as SW did.  In the dnd epizode (imma call it that uwu) it is shown just how much adora start’s to lose herself and being sucked into the mindset that every single detail, every mishap on her belhaf can cost her death and other people’s lifes and the thing when she says that “when catra kills me” which she actually believes that catra hates her so much and that there is a possibility of her death by persom who she loves is so heartbreaking to watch.

While season 2 was a bit lighthearted on Adora’s part it more of a foreshadowing how she really thinks and how insecure she is but there is one thing which i will mention in season 4 or 5 and i will point it out.

Season 3

Season 3 was actually interesting take on Adora, when she went to look for Mara’s message and when she was on the ship, does anybody remember her reaction when she notices that ship is not responding to her?. Adora has a mental breakdown which is almost chilling. She goes start’s to laugh almost chilling as when she tried to kill catra ( in berserk mode) but this time was actually in fit of rage. She start’s talking to herselfs ( which scares bow, glimmer and suprises catra) because this is first time they seen adora not being control of her own emotions. Adora start’s to rant on how hard she is working to be better she-ra, how she tries so hard to better her skills and even understaning who she is as a first one and yet all she get’s is another dead end. When she slams her hand onto the message, it shown’s that key is weapon and that the message was to keep away the sword from the portal or else everybody will be in the danger. Catra show’s up and well everybody know’s what happeneds next.

At portal scenario adora has another sleep fight then she get’s awoken by catra to celebrate her victory, which confuses her but she goes along with it since she can’t remember what is going on yet pieces by pieces it is shown what is going on. Adora even tho she keeps remembering is clearly overwhelmed and her emotions are pushing and pulling her all over the place. When she figures out what’s going on her reactions is to keep catra’s safe and tries to pull her away from the place by the force and she manages but then they have a fight. Of course adora dosen’t want to fight her, she just tries to explain herself to catra, while catra being aware what’s going on refuses to go then tries to fight adora again in rage but this time the reality is collapsing and catra chooses to let go instead of taking adora’s hand which scars adora. After she watches bow and glimmer disappear, She faces off corrupcted catra but when she startes to taunt her off it is her fault that the world is falling apart and that she made her this way, it is then where adora pushes her and stand’s up for herself. She tell’s her how it was not her fault that she did all this and to one of my favorite scenes punshes catra and tell’s her “ you made your choices” now live with it. She is still sad about her choices but she accepts that it must be done enough is enough. When she is faced with her choice to close the portal this is just one of the many things when her brain thinks that her sacriface will be worth but this time queen Angela takes the burden and tell’s her to take care of each other. At end of epizode where catra stares down at adora excpeting another sad look what we get is just a silent and chill look on her face which horrifies catra. This time adora cut’s her off from her life.  (i just love the moment where it show’s anger in adora’s eyes and fear in catra’s)

Season 4

Season 4 is really where adora is losing her trust in herself as a person and her conflict with glimmer makes her believe that she is nothing but a weapon to rebellion but she again accepts it. With SW being in her life again and the abuser who marked insecurity and started conflict between her and catra is back in her life but also now getting close to glimmer is making her even more angry and of course with right reason. When glimmer start’s to use her as a bait with out telling her the plan, when she start’s to let her out of her life and shift into somebody similar to catra and adora confused why it is happening to their friendship just stand’s still and watches until glimmer says that it was her fault that she lost her mother. Of course glimmer rejects her words but at this point adora understood that glimmer seen her as a weapon (she-ra) not a person.

When she goes to find out the message from Mara yet again she again find’s out that person who was supposed to teach her about balacning the power wants to use it to kill every being in the universe with the fact that she already was aware that she lied to her but this time it was more shocking because she was the weapon not the sword itself. When she tell’s the message to others at her own shock most of people choose SW idea, the idea of light hope not her own. Adora seeing just how much glimmer trust SW over her was so gut wrenching yet she with bow decides that it is time for them to do it but this time with out her.

When it get’s activated Adora in fear rushes to light hope in order to stop this genocide from happening and chooses to the ultimatum, with strength of she-ra she shatters the sword and put’s light hope to rest which sadness her but now with realization that it costed her she-ra as well.

Season 4 ending with adora looking to save glimmer with determination.

Season 5

On the point which i wanted to mention before

The thing about catra and adora is the fact that most of people would say no it’s catra’s feeligs who are more exposed then adora’s and i actually have to say that it is opposite. Upon watching the show you can recall just how many times catra changed her expression in anger, sadness or fear while adora tried shut down those feelings in order to be she-ra. She never allowed herself to shown her feeling of weakness to others, every single doubt in her mind was manifesting itself for all those years.

Season 5 show’s that and it is amazing.

She start’s off as herself, no more she-ra no more super powers.

While she is aware of that, she is still missing that power because it made her weak, it made herself again which she hated because now she was more desperate to have it because the consequences of her actions are costing the victoy of the war.

She dosen’t sleep, she get’s dream’s about she-ra which she tries so desperatly to reach for but it dosen’t work. She is rushing in fight not because she isn’t aware that she isn’t she-ra anymore just because she wants to get advantage of the war as fast she can.

When they are flying to save glimmer she does try to stay positive but it still bothers her but she accepts that she has no choice, she needs to save her with our with out she-ra. When she get’s a call from catra, she is confused and dosen’t understand what exactly is catra doing. She can barely speak when catra said that she will send glimmer to her and then apologizes to her which makes adora shocked that she beg’s her not to go.

When they catch glimmer, bow is being protective but also dosen’t forgive her on the spot while adora does look a bit awkward and uncomfortable but she does forgive her on the spot and hug’s her.  

After finding a crystal for ship, she talks to glimmer and tell’s her that she is aware what catra has done but she still dosen’t want to give up on her and says desperately “i have to try”.

When she went to save catra, she was clam and she tried to buy time for others but horde prime knew what would happen and told her that she is very predictible person. In her utter horror he show’s catra but this time she is chipped and has no awarness what she is doing. Adora trying not to harm her and even tries to protect her from harming herself. Adora does manage to break the chip in which catra comes back for seconds in which adora show’s affections to catra but then horde prime regain’s the control and just before catra could reach adora’s hand, he forces her to fell down ( it was mentioned that she died) but that angers adora and she transform’s to she-ra, she-ra who is more in control then everbefore. On the ship, she dosen’t let go off her and manages to bring her back to life with tears on her eyes and hug’s her with warmth.

After adora gives catra time to sleep and rest, it still is shown just how much worried she is and decides to check upon her multiple times. When she goes again to talk with her the distance again start’s to shift which angers adora because she finally thought that catra will at least try to change but instead she is acting like she did before. When they fingure out how they are getting detected so she get’s a fit that yet again catra is affecting their life’s. She bring’s entrapta and takes her to catra but this time she is going on the point. We will take out the chip then after that you will never have to see me again, adora still regrets that she has to say those words but if catra dislikes to be with her so much and she dosen’t want to be in her life, she dosen’t have to afterall in life you can just give people so many chances. On her suprise, catra hold’s her hand in desperation and beg’s her to stay.

In later epizode it is shown that adora is getting those warm feelings which she used to have when she was with catra, she is smiling and she is proud that catra finally took step in right direction.

When they meet SW the martyr complex kicks again but this time it is more serious. Adora hides from others that she is losing she-ra, she is getting again more desperate and when SW tell’s her face to face that she as herself can’t do anything only “she-ra” can. As much as adora is trying to fight off SW words she deep down accepts them, she is aware how weak she is and she know’s that she can’t win the war as herself. When SW tell’s her that through her sacriface the would win with adora or she-ra this actually gives her hope even if it is sad to hear. The relization and other voices in background trying to call SW a monster who is trying to take advantage of her, arguring over it and adora’s mind starting to race and she just yell’s “enough” and silently says “that she will do it” to catra’s horrifying look. I do want to point of how the scene where catra is telling her not to do it and adora looks at her and stepping inside is exactly same where in season 1 adora is looking at catra and calling her to come back to her while catra is giving her shocking look and running away from her. When adora see’s that her friends and catra are getting hurt she fight’s off the pain and transforms into she-ra and saves them in nick of the time while that angers catra because how little adora values her own life.

When adora notices that catra is running away she tries to stop her, even if she manages she is so tired that it always end up on them getting seperated. When catra call’s her out on what she wants in life, adora is actually confused and ignores the question by answering that she need’s to do it, there is no other choice and that answer drives catra away.

Last 2 epizodes were amazing

Adora seeing that after she lost catra, she is losing she-ra

She wants to end it fast, end it quickly because she know’s that she can’t last for too long as she-ra. Her transformation is flicking just how her mind is torn apart from fear and sadness but she needs to it. When bow and glimmer see her, they want to go with her because the see that something is wrong. When adora notices that first one ruin is affecting her memories it just show’s how much she misses catra yet she wants to ignore those memories, seeing them as distractions not desperation for catra to come to her side. When the place show’s up the sword that is when adora has a horrifying realization that in the end, she has no choice. She is afraid and scared, she is losing she-ra and now she can’t hold onto it as much as she hoped in her eyes there was no future for her only through her sacrifice everybody will be happy, she see’s being she-ra dynasty as torches lend through sacrifaces.  

Then we get the be beautiful scene between mara and adora talking to each other and mara telling her that she deserves happines too which are the words which adora so desperately wanted to hear for so many years, that she has a choice and that her destiny isn’t chosen. Then horde prime enter’s she scenatio and taunts her.

Catra comes to her, saves her and tell’s the to go ahead.

SW notices that adora won’t go unless catra is safe so she decides to sacriface herself in order for adora to go to the heart. SW sacriface as confusing as it was for catra. Why is woman who abused them their whole years telling them that their lifes just started? why is she for first time in her life choosing them over herself?. Adora dosen’t even utter a single word, she is confused and sad but i also think angry because for once in her life she finally recognized how much catra ment for her and finally accepted them both as people. I do want to mention that well it is also the fact that she died infront of them, death can be heavy for children’s eyes, they probably didn’t even understand why they were crying but still their mother figure is gone and they need to move on in their lifes as she said so.

In the heart adora accepts her fate and is ready to die but the virus is drowing her life away slowly in which she has a dream about future. Notice how she is silent? how she dosen’t speak because she is confused and afraid? She knows that she is dying but now she is at the place where she wants to be? With her friends and catra by her side as her parnter?. In this scene it felt as if adora was paralyzed with fear until she noticed that catra is reaching her hand so she smiles and as soon as she were to touch it, horde prime show’s up and tell’s her that this is the end of her beautiful wish. Locking down adora in her own mind while her life force is slowly disappearing.

Catra being scared that adora is dying her arm’s (which is parallel to catra dying in adora arms) is now trying to tell adora to fight back in which adora hesitates to take her arm and still tries to accept her death but upon catra’s confession she decided that she can be a bit selfish to want happiness in her life so she embraces catra’s love and they kiss.

And the kiss saves the universe and in the end they are finally happy.

Catra kept her claws out and dug into her palms the whole time she crept through the wreckage of the Fright Zone with Scorpia at her side. She didn’t know why Adora and Perfuma had insisted the two of them teamed up to dredge the old base for—what, exactly? Tech, supplies—stars forbid, people? Catra thought it was better to raze the place to the ground and let Scorpia start her kingdom on fresh soil.

But she also thought that wasn’t the real reason they were here. Adora needed closure. Scorpia needed closure. And, according to Perfuma, she and Scorpia really needed to talk some things out.

That was true. They needed to. Did she want to? Absolutely not. Was she going to? Maybe. Eventually. Not here, now. She wasn’t … (ready? stable? brave?)

She’d apologized, briefly, in the warm glow of the aftermath. She knew, despite the forgiveness, that it wasn’t enough. There was so much left between them. Catra knew those words weren’t enough to make up for all she’d done.

“Well, gosh,” Scorpia was saying. Catra’s ears swiveled as she forced herself out of her own thoughts. “I don’t really remember what my kingdom was like before the Horde came in. I was raised in the Horde, you know? I don’t know how to rule a kingdom, much less build one from scratch.”

Catra hummed.

They continued to wander, absently picking through the rubble.

“All the other princesses have, like, their own thing, you know? I’m not really sure what my thing is.”

“An annoying overabundance of sincerity,” Catra grumbled.

Oh. That was mean, right? She was trying to do better, but being on this ‘mission’ with the other woman had a ball of anxiety humming sharply in her chest, desperate to crawl out as scathing remarks and sarcasm.

Yeah. That was mean. She needed to do better, at least for Scorpia’s sake.

She opened her mouth to apologize, but Scorpia cut her off.

“Hmm. I think that’s more Perfuma’s thing.” She blushed at the mention of the flower princess, seemingly no hard feelings about Catra’s comment. “Not that I find it annoying.”

The blush did something weird to Catra’s stomach. Which was—like, bad, right? It wasn’t- Okay she- She was maybe a little jealous. Which was totally bad and stupid. She’d had her chance with Scorpia, and she’d made a royal mess of that. It wasn’t fair at all that Scorpia being happy with someone else would make her feel like this. Plus, she was happy with Adora. Happier than she’d ever been. Adora was her soulmate, if such a thing existed.

Still.

The horrible, selfish little creature inside her was chanting mine mine mine mine and she didn’t know how to make it stop.

She looked away, ears twisting.

Scorpia’s boots clunked on the floor as they walked. Catra thought she should probably say something affirming about, she didn’t know, Scorpia or the future of her kingdom or her relationship with Perfuma. But her throat was tight with shame. There was so much she should say. She didn’t know where to start.

Were they still friends?

Catra didn’t know if they were even still friends.

“Scorpia—”

The other woman looked at her, expectant.

Her claws dug in.

Her eyes dropped.

“Maybe we should head back.”

“Yeah,” Scorpia said, obvious disappointment tinting her voice. “Yeah, I don’t think there’s much left here.”

Catra sighed as they turned to walk back towards the entrance, where they said they’d meet back after their missions were done. The metallic, somewhat rotten smell of the Fright Zone was getting to her. She’d gotten used to the clean and perfumey smell of Bright Moon. The stale smell of their ship. The Fright Zone’s stench was just bringing up memories.

So focused on walking through the rubble, lost in her thoughts, she didn’t register the creak and the crack until it was too late.

“Watch out!”

Her tail puffed as she startled, only just taking in the piece of ceiling that had started to fall towards her as Scorpia’s shout reached her ears.

And then the flash. Red, scattered, jumping lightning. The sound of the electricity crackling through the air.

Her wide eyes froze on the red electric as it connected with the rubble and exploded it into dust. She covered her head as it rained down on her hair and shoulders.

Her body shook. Her heart pounded, loud and terrified, behind her ribs.

Her face was shocked still into a wide, wet-eyed stare.

Her legs trembled. She couldn’t breathe.

“Whoa, that was a close one! You okay?”

Hot, molten anger flooded her. She didn’t mean for it to. She didn’t want it. But it stopped the tears from flooding her eyes and let her breathe again.

“Watch where you’re aiming! You almost hit me!”

“Sorry!” Scorpia yelped. “It just- It was going to fall on you, and—”

“I could’ve dodged it! You didn’t have to shoot lightning at me!”

Scorpia stared at her as Catra’s form trembled, hands curled to fists and teeth bared in a snarl.

“I’m sorry,” Scorpia said, quiet.

Catra knew she was being ridiculous. But the part of her that wanted to calm down, that wanted to apologize for her outburst and explain herself, was being smothered under the waves of panicked fear that kept her anger flowing.

She hated that she kept talking. She hated it, truly.

“I bet you want to hit me, don’t you? You got a taste for it when you were under his influence—oh, yeah, if you don’t remember, you zapped me real good then, sent me flying about a thousand yards—and you’re still angry at me for everything. You’re still angry and you want to hit me. You missed the others, but you shocked me. Well? Say it!”

She was expecting Scorpia to be hurt, which is what the twisted little anger monster in her chest wanted. If Scorpia was hurt, then Catra wasn’t; she had the upper hand. It was all very logical and rational, you see, not fueled at all by the terrified child inside her. The terrified little child who’d never gotten to yell at Shadow Weaver and all that the Black Garnet’s power had done to her then.

But Scorpia didn’t look hurt. She looked … well, sad, a little. But more than that—calculating. Like she was trying to figure something out.

Her expression smoothed.

Slowly, she sat on the dusty metal floor, pincers raised by her head.

“What are you doing?” Catra asked, chest heaving. Her eyes darted between the raised pincers. “Y-Yell at me, fight back, do something!”

Scorpia was silent.

And in the silence, in the face of the calm, Catra unraveled.

“Stop,” she croaked, her anger snuffing and tears finally leaking from her eyes. Her ears flattened against her head. She sunk to the floor. “You’re not supposed to … You’re not supposed to do that.”

“What am I supposed to do?” Scorpia asked, quiet.

“I don’t know.” She pulled her knees to her chest, tail curling around herself. “Be mad at me.”

“Shock you?”

Catra’s shoulders trembled.

“I’m sorry I scared you. I didn’t mean to remind you of—”

Catra’s face disappeared behind her knees.

She could hear Scorpia’s even, measured breaths.

“I wouldn’t do that to someone I care about. And I’m sorry it happened when I wasn’t in control.”

“Don’t say that.”

“What?”

“That you care about me.”

There was a pause.

“It’s true, though.”

Catra wheezed a hiss, digging her claws into her legs. “It shouldn’t be. Not after … Not after everything I did to you.”

“… Maybe,” Scorpia said after a moment. “You did some pretty bad shit.”

A self-deprecating laugh squeezed from her chest.

“But I don’t think I’m ever going to stop caring about you, wildcat.”

The laugh turned a little more desperate, something like a sob. It took a minute for the fight to leave her chest, for her to curl fully onto her knees and, for a moment, sit in the shame. She finally raised her head, wiping tears off her cheeks as she attempted to plaster some sort of smile on her face.

“I’m glad you have Perfuma now,” she said, genuine despite her racing heart and tear-clogged throat. “I was never good enough for you.”

A twitch of a smile pulled at Scorpia’s lips, but even that looked sad. “You never gave yourself the chance to be.”

They stared at each other for a moment, tears streaming down Catra’s face. Slowly, Scorpia’s pincers fell to resettle in her lap.

Catra looked down.

“I’m sorry I yelled at you. That was … That was really shitty. I just wasn’t expecting it, and I got scared.”

“Thank you,” Scorpia said. “For my part, I didn’t think how that would look to you.”

Catra wiped at her cheek with the heel of her hand.

“How do you … do that?”

Scorpia’s brows drew as Catra glanced back up at her. “Do what?”

“Just be … I don’t know. So good about stuff. So nice. It’s so hard for me.”

“Practice, mostly.”

Now Catra’s eyebrows were drawing. “What do you mean?”

Scorpia shrugged, turning her gaze to look around the crumpling hallway. “I grew up in the Horde, too. Do you think it came easy to me? You think I got nice by accident?”

“I don’t know.” Catra unfurled a little, resting her chin on her knee. “I kind of assumed you’ve always been like this.”

Scorpia snorted, and Catra was surprised by the noise.

“Nah. Frankly, I used to be a bit of a dick.”

“That … really surprises me.”

“It surprises most people, for some reason.” She looked down to her lap, gently pinching the fabric of her pants. “A lot of people seem to mistake kindness for innocence, naivety. Being kind takes work, you know. It’s a skill, like anything else. You have to practice. You’ll get there in time, wildcat.”

Catra’s ears flicked and flattened.

“I’m not sure I will,” she muttered, glancing away. “Not like you. What, uh … What made you change?”

She sighed, shrugging a little. “I didn’t consider leaving the Horde for a long time. Not until …”

Not until me, Catra thought.

“But at some point I realized that, well … the Horde kind of sucked. But it was my home. My family. My—unfortunate—heritage. I’m loyal; it can be a character flaw. I didn’t want to leave. But I realized that while the Horde sucked, I didn’t have to. When I’d get all … snippy, if you’ll pardon it … it, well, hurt people. My pain was feeding into this whole system, this loop of unhappy people, who were hurt and upset, and just took it out on each other, passed it to the next person. It’s a circle. Self-fulfilling something or other.”

She paused, waiting until Catra caught her eye.

“At some point,” she said, “you have to be strong enough to stop it.”

Catra shrunk, looking away. “I’m trying.”

“I know you are, wildcat. I know you are.” She paused. Nerves skittered across Catra’s chest. “But you have a lot to learn. It’s hard to come to grips with, but kindness is hard. It takes strength and discipline. It takes vulnerability, which is scary. But choosing to be kind is one of the bravest things you can do. The day I chose to be different changed my life. And there’s been a lot of rocky moments, but I’m better for it, and I’m never looking back.”

“Scorpia …” Catra gripped her knees, taking a breath before she looked up at her. Scorpia looked back, patient. Catra swallowed. “I’m sorry I wasn’t the person you needed me to be. I’m sorry I … that I was a part of the loop.”

Scorpia’s expression softened. “I appreciate that, wildcat.”

“I want to change,” she told her. “Both for the people around me, so I’m- so I’m not just a part of the circle, but also …” She sighed. “I can’t keep doing this. Living like this is going to kill me.”

“I think it’s been killing you for a while.” Catra’s eyes darted up, and Scorpia smiled at her, soft. “But it’s really brave of you to admit that.”

Catra felt her face flush. “Scorpia, I—” Her grip tightened. “I love you. And- And I’m sorry it wasn’t in the way you wanted, but- but I do, and I just had to say it. So. There.”

Scorpia’s smile went a little dopey, warm and pleased. “You too,” she said. “And it’s okay.”

Catra nodded quickly, looking away. Her face was still flushed; she was sure she was beet red. But her tail was curling and flicking slowly, unable to contain the pleased motion.

“I have a lot to make up for,” she mumbled. “Thanks for being patient with me.”

“We’ve got all the time in the world, wildcat. I’ll be here.”

She nodded again. “Should we- The others are probably meeting back up now.”

They rose, and as they walked, Scorpia let her arm rest over Catra’s shoulders. Against the larger woman, Catra felt warm and safe.

That little, possessive part of her told her to rub against the larger woman’s chest, to mark herself all over and say mine mine mine mine … But that wasn’t true. Scorpia wasn’t hers, and that was okay. She wasn’t Perfuma’s, either. Scorpia only belonged to herself, and that was part of what Catra admired so dearly.

She stamped down the urge and merely walked, her own arm around Scorpia’s waist. Her tail flicked behind them.

Scorpia wasn’t stupid. She wasn’t weak or naive. Her kindness was her strength, and the fact that she shared some of that with Catra, that she loved her, despite everything …

Barely audible, the rumble of her purr.

She squeezed closer.

Overall Thoughts on She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

I talked about my feelings and complaints of individual seasons, and I won’t get into that here. This discussion on what works and what doesn’t in the series taken in aggregate.

The story was an engaging watch the vast majority of the shows run. I have an attention span the size of a mustard seed and rarely watch a show longer than around 2 seasons, so the fact that I binged all of it in about a week and a half says something about how compelling the narrative was.

Helping my desire to continue to watch the show were that the vast majority of the cast was extremely likeable. Even most of the villains were either incredibly sympathetic or well-written enough to serve their narrative purpose. The few characters that I didn’t appreciate so much I mentioned in my other discussions, but Hordak stands to be mentioned here because my frustration is mostly with how he is treated in the narrative (we’ll get to that). The only character I think should have been removed entirely is Seahawk as I personally think he was not a very good fit for the show.

There were some tonal issues in my opinion. Balancing comedic moments and serious scenes is very important in shows like this, especially in shows for young children where too grim a tone for an extended period of time may start to scare them too much. Most of the time the show manages the balancing act decently. A few times there are some gaffs. One of the more egregious examples was when they followed an episode where Salineas is razed to ground with one where Seahawk gets himself and two other characters kidnapped via stupidity and wacky hijinks ensue. There were a few other parts of the story with similar sudden jumps in tone.

There are two main issues with the redemption arcs in the show. First, There is a ceiling on the severity of the bad actions you can have your redeemable characters commit before people won’t want them to be redeemable characters anymore. This is the main issue with Hordak’s redemption; the war he was directly responsible for and the amount of deaths and suffering that followed would realistically make most of the characters not really want to see him anywhere but in front of a war tribunal. You’ve trapped yourself into a corner when it comes to the typical redeemed character narrative of children’s shows because you can’t have anyone forgive the character without writing them egregiously out of character. I will say that it’s my personal belief that just about anyone could become a better person if they tried, and having a character make the slow and difficult journey to being a better person in spite of the fact that nobody will forgive what they’ve done and some things can never be taken back would be an amazing and mature lesson for a children’s show. She-ra, however, wants the kind of redemption where people are forgiven and become friends at the end, and having the characters you intend to redeem in that fashion commit widespread atrocities is a poor writing choice.

The second issue with the show’s redemption is that, for a good redemption arc, the character needs to specifically apologize for every major wrong they committed and make amends for it. They got so, so close with Catra’s redemption arc. She was sympathetic from the beginning and a lot of the most egregious bad things she did were poor treatment of specific people that she apologized to and forgave her. The portal and being Hordak’s second-in-command during the war skirts kind of close to the moral event horizon, but it could be reasonably argued that the things that she did to save the universe could cause people to forgive a lot of that (that happens a lot in real life wars when people defect to the right side and get immunity for some of all their past actions). The stain on what was otherwise a well-written and clearly planned redemption arc for her is the fact that she kills someone (Angela) and it is not mentioned once after they get her back. I’m not saying she has to go to prison for murder, though that would certainly be a reasonable reaction. Maybe she gets a pardon because she helped saved the universe, mitigating factors from being an abused teenager, Adora begged for leniency, Queen Glimmer is merciful, or some combination of the above. But the show should be addressing it. Catra should be apologizing for it. Glimmer should be angry about it. It should be the main factor that causes a huge barrier making her an ally. Background characters should be upset that the killer of their beloved monarch is just walking around like nothing is wrong. The show should at least mention it. As of right now, this unresolved plot thread is the biggest elephant in the room and the one thing that will bother me long after I’ve moved on to other shows.

One of the main things that this show wanted to do was have a realistic portrayal of abuse in a children’s show. The show succeeded. I especially appreciated that it went out of their way to show that even though Adora was the ‘favorite’, that Shadow Weaver fucked her up too and gave her a different, but equally severe set of psychological issues from it and the show doesn’t compare their suffering or try to portray what happened to her as ‘not as bad’ as what happened to Catra. Well done

The animation was very solid all around. I noticed that they did a better job in later seasons of portraying Adora as noticeably taller than most of the other characters when she’s transformed into She-Ra.

The soundtrack was generally decent. There are only a few particular tracks that I would go back and listen to outside of watching the show, but the tracks as a whole did a good job setting the appropriate tone for the scene they were played in (as a side, if any of you have the clip for the ost that plays when Catra fights Tongue Lashor, please give it to me, I’ve been looking for it everywhere).

Best characters: Entrapta, Bow, Scorpia, Frosta, I love most of them to be fair

Worst Characters: Shadow Weaver, Hordak, Seahawk

My favorite moment of the series is difficult to choose but the moment where Catra apologizes to Entrapta and Entrapta gives a quiet “I forgive you” had a weight that not a lot of scenes in the show had. That baptism scene was also one of the more creepy scenes I’ve seen in a children’s show in a while

The score for the show gets -1 point for Angela not being brought up once in season five, -1 point for Hordak’s redemption arc in general, and -0.5 points for the tonal issues and basically everything else that I complained about while watching the show but I didn’t feel was bad enough to warrant a significant deduction on it’s own, for a grand total of 7.5/10. That is not bad on my scale. For reference a 1 is something you couldn’t pay me to see again, a 5 is a show that I would be willing to let run while I study but otherwise wouldn’t care about one way or the other (e.g Bleach), a 7.5-8 is where I would start recommending the show to most people, and a 10 is one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen. She-Ra and the princesses of power is not the greatest show I’ve ever seen. It has flaws. But I’ve had genuine enjoyment for shows with far, far more serious flaws than this show. And it’s one of the few recent nostalgic reboots that appears to far surpass the original. I would recommend She-Ra.

Uneasy Lies the Head that Wears the Crown

words:1848 Summary: A day in the life of Glimmer, queen of Bright Moon Warnings: I don’t wanna start any shipping wars, but I do a lot of Glimmadora stuff, so be warned. (If you stan Catradora, I have something interesting coming up soon)

 Also dumb 80s names for some OCs because c’mon, if we can have castaspella, we can have some dumb names. 

Glimmer groaned and gently rose out of bed. She got on her royal garments, took her scepter, and walked heavily to the throne room. No time for breakfast this morning. There were important things to discuss. Of course, not just about the war. But that was definitely the thing on everyone’s mind. Especially after last night. 

“They...they were everywhere!” Perfuma was speaking through tears, openly sobbing into Mermista’s shoulder at the war table. Glimmer furrowed her brow.

“What were they in Plumeria for?”

“I have no clue...someone mentioned a monastery of some kind?”

“We need to strike them back!” Frosta said, slamming the table. “I say we find every horde soldier we can and SMASH ‘em!”

“Frosta, we need to address this more delica-” Glimmer stopped. She sounded just like her mother. “...we need to approach this with caution. If they found what they needed, it might have been something important for us. We have to be able to get it back, whatever it was.” 

“True.” Mermista said, supportively and warmly patting Perfuma’s back. “It’s okay, bud...you’re safe.” 

Plumeria had been invaded by the Horde. 

Granted, it was a very small portion, around the edge of its border, actually, but it was still a notable event. It proved that they were regrouped enough to mount such an attack, and so deep into Rebel territory? But such a specific location...they had to be searching for something. 

“We’ll look into it further, Perfuma, I promise.” Perfuma nodded, sniffling. 

“Thank you.”

“Now, onto the next order of business.” She said. “Namely, the problem with troops, or the lack thereof.” She heaved a sigh. “We’re running a tad low on personnel, even for Rebellion standards.” 

“Well what’re we supposed to do?” Mermista asked, “Get a bunch of people to wanna do it or something?”

“Well, a recruitment effort here and there would be nice.” Glimmer said. “It’s just that...we’re gonna need a lot more resources if the Horde is regrouping so quickly.” “Oh! We could make fancy posters and things!” Adora said. “Back at the horde, we had these neat poster things that said ‘enlist’ and ‘obey’ and stuff.” 

“We just need to get people interested. This isn’t the old rebellion, it’s a lot stronger.” Frosta said. “At least...i think it is. Was the old one not great?”

“There’s a new one for a reason, y’know.” Mermista rolled her eyes and sighed. 

“Hey, you don’t have to be mean about it!”

“I wasn’t being mean!” 

“You two,” Perfuma said, “Stop fighting!” 

“I don’t need to sto-”

“That’s ENOUGH!” Glimmer said, losing her temper. A group of gawking faces looked at her. She heaved in a breath. “...Adora.”

“Huh?”

“You’ll be in charge of recruitment...if people will fight for anything, they’ll fight for the She-Ra.” She said. “That’s significant. Especially since you’re on our side.”

The rest of the princesses looked. “If more people knew that you were here, Adora,” Perfuma smiled, “They’d be more willing to fight for the rebellion.”

“...I mean, I can’t, like, Draw? But I can go around and do...speeches or something.”

“Great!” Glimmer tried to move things along. “Then it’s settled. So...other than that, and the battle reports covered earlier, we’re good for today. You all have safe travels, and don’t hesitate to let me know of any issues.” Glimmer got up, and walked silently back to the throne room. Adora followed her. 

“Heh, got ‘em pretty scared with that shouting, huh? In all seriousness, are you alri-”

“Adora, I-” She sighed. “I have a meeting that I’m late for. I need to go. I’ll catch you later, okay?” She smiled warmly up at Adora, hugged her swiftly and tightly, and walked into the throne room. 

Adora stared at the closing doors. “...sure.” -

“My queen, the coffers are luckily full enough to launch another building program.” A meeting with her financial advisor, Finara, and her political advisor, Legista, were all there, fronting ideas. “May I suggest a new building for the castle’s staff? The current one is rather old.”

“We could build them another building, yeah...why don’t we have someone draw up some plans? Make it nice, too.” She smiled. 

“And what of the new tariffs?” Legista asked. “Surely the people of Salineas will find another source for gold Silk?”

“Mermista has already agreed to it, and it’s such a specialty item that the people who need it will pay anything for it. The tariff stays. We need that money.” Glimmer hated this part of the job. Lofty, big decisions. She missed the action, and the romance of the soldier’s life. She missed adventures with Seahawk, and hanging out with Bow, and she especially missed hugging Adora and cuddling her for hours, running her hands through her long, blonde hair as she-...she shook her head. 

“Anything else?”

“Nothing comes to mind, your majesty.” The advisors left...she now had her open court. Citizens could voice concerns at their will. It took ages sometimes, but this was mostly just ‘we welcome the new queen’ stuff. Then one couple came in. 

“We want your majesty’s blessing for our marriage!” 

“Pardon?”

“Your blessing!” The woman looked up. “I love him dearly, but his father doesn’t want him marrying someone from my family, so-”

“I…” The queens blessing was for, usually, royalty. She walked down from her throne and placed the scepter on her shoulder. “I bless your marriage.” 

“Hooray!” The girl giggled and kissed her groom to be, and they ran off. Glimmer wanted to marry someone...someone who Angella would have never approved of. She laughed and headed back to her throne. “Next.”

“Hey, Glimmer!”

“I beg your pa-...oh. Hey, Bow.” She waved a little and beamed.

“How’s your day going?” 

“Oh, not so bad...boooooring, but-”

“Court questions are not for friendly visits.” A guard said. Bow put his hands on his hips. 

“Oh, aren’t they now?”

“No, they are not!”

“Well then, I-”

“Guard, stand down. When I’m in charge, they’re also for friendly visits.”

“...yes, your majesty.” The guard stood down. “I apologize.”

“We’re cool, man.” Bow smiled. “Adora and I are gonna go see how fast Swift Wind can fly...wanna come?”

“Of course I d-” She looked around. “...I have a lot going on.”

“Oh. Uhm...sure! We can figure out another time, I think.”

“No, no, if you’re gonna go and do it you go ahead and do it.”

“You sure? We don’t wanna leave you out!”

“I’’ll...I’ll make time for you guys later.” She smiled. “I’ll see you around!” Her smile carried a bit of disappointment and a lot of sadness.

“Alright, bud…”

Adora sighed when she mounted swift wind. “I dunno, it’s just-” She helped Bow up. “She’s got a ton of work to do. Do you think I’ll ever be able to break it to her?’

“Break what to her?” Bow asked. 

“That I have a crush on her.”

“...you two aren’t dating?” 

“I-what? No! She doesn’t even know I like her!” Bow laughed at this. 

“Adora, she weaved flowers into your hair and said you were the most beautiful girl on the planet and you told her you would DIE for her! Is that not...wait…” He just couldn’t He was laughing so hard he started to cry. Adora wasn’t as amused, but...she was finding some humor in it all. 

“And the time I just looked at her and said ‘I wanna kiss you’ and she was just like ‘huh’ and I said ‘I mean I miss you’ and she’d been gone for, like...5 minutes!” The two laughed. Swift Wind spoke. 

“When’s the last time you all hung out?”

“Who, us two?” 

“You and Glimmer.” He said. 

“...a while ago. She’s a busy girl. She’s the queen now.” They were looking over the kingdom, flying close to the Opal. “I miss her a lot.”

Bow nodded. “I miss her too.” He said. “But it’s not like she doesn’t like hanging out.”

“You sure?” Adora asked. “I just feel like a background character to her sometimes nowadays.” 

“I saw her earlier, and she looked...upset she couldn’t come around.”

“I guess you’re right.” Adora smirked. “I have an idea. Swift wind, we’re moving the speed test to tomorrow.”

“You can’t be serious! I trained!”

“Did you, really?” Bow scoffed. 

“Well, no, but-....still. It’s the principle of it all!” Adora laughed and patted his neck. 

“Easy, bud.”

Glimmer sighed and laid in her bed, screaming into a pillow. “RrrrrrAAAAGH!” She threw it across the room. She looked out her window and leaned her head on the side of it. “I wonder if I’ll be able to go out when it’s bright again?” She thought aloud. She was growing more and more bleak with each passing day...report after report after meeting after meeting, no stopping, break for a meal, then go right back, then sleep. No time to talk to the princesses, or go on missions, or laugh with Bow, or-

No time for Adora. Only at meetings. Only at meals. 

It was straining her. She heard her door open. 

“Do NOT disturb the-”

“Glimmer?” 

“Adora!” She teleported to her, and then teleporter her back to her bed. She yawned. “I’m sorry, I just...I’m so tired.”

“You’re okay.” Adora held her hand. “Hey, so...I wanted to talk about us for a minute.”

Glimmer was beet red, and if she was tired before, her heart was waking her up now. “Go ahead.” 

“Well, I was just wondering,” She said, “We’re awfully close, and...I’m starting to feel the same way about you as I used to for Catra a while ago.” She added. “It’s this warm feeling. It’s nice. It feels all...fuzzy.”

“It’s Love, Adora.” Glimmer got closer to her. “I feel it for you, too.” 

“So are we…”

“Lovers? If you wanna be.” Adora got closer. 

“I’d Like that.” Adora said...she closed her eyes. 

“MY QUEEN! A MAN HAS ARRIVED AND SAYS HE HAS REPORTS ON THE...invasion...of-”

“...tell him to wait.” Adora said. 

“This is a matter of utmost importance, I assure you, he-”

“Put him in a room and get him some rest.” Adora stood. “Is that clear?”

“I take orders from the queen.” 

“You do. And you will take orders from my LOVER as well!” Glimmer barked. 

“...yes, your majesty.” Angella was gone. Glimmer could be loud when she wanted to be. 

The guard scurried off. “Where were we?” Glimmer asked. 

“You get kinda frightening when you’re upset.” 

“We were about to kiss, alright? He interrupted us!” She laughed. 

“Yeah...hope you’re not like that with them all the time.” Adora said. “Gotta be a bad relationship if that’s the case.”

Glimmer laughed. “I’m not like that all the time! Just...today’s been rough, i wish I could just relax for a bi-”

A pair of lips pressed up against Glimmer’s. 

“...that’s a kiss, right?”

“A perfect one,” Glimmer said. “Well, almost.” She was blushing quite a bit, but...tried to stay confident. “Want another? Just...for practice?”

Season 3 spoilers!!! Again!!!

Catra’s redemption arc (and Beast Island?)

Yeah, I think she’s getting one. She seems irredeemable at the moment, but I’m here to try to change your mind.

There’s been a bit of talk on the sidelines about how Catra will probably end up at Beast Island and the whole sequence of the people seeing her as a queen, yada yada. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, go read about the original Catra. Yes, from the original theories.)

Generally speaking, Catra’s hit a new low. It’s noted that her main motivation is spite, and will do whatever it takes to defeat Adora, even if it meant watching the world burn in the process. She’s kidnapped Bow and Glimmer, tried to kill Adora several times, destroyed many parts of Etheria in her quest to gain power and have Hordak trust her.

Irredeemable, though? I think not.

Remember that Catra had an abusive upbringing. She was always overshadowed by Adora as they both grew up, only because Shadow Weaver saw that power within her and glorified it, while Catra was only kept around because Adora was “fond” of her. She was always overshadowed, always being thrown around like she’s useless, always being blamed and taking the fall for any of Adora’s mishaps. In order to lessen the blows, she always acted somewhat tame around the others.

The moment Adora left, her one motivation to stay tame disappeared. She didn’t want to go with Adora not because she necessarily liked the Horde, but because she wanted to prove to Shadow Weaver and Hordak that she was capable. At first, it was getting Adora back to the Horde. When that failed, it became the ability to defeat Adora and the Princess Alliance.

Catra simply believes that Adora betrayed her by leaving to join the Princess Alliance. She didn’t go with Adora just because she wanted to prove that she was just as capable, even more so, than Adora in the Horde.

That’s why her interaction with Shadow Weaver in the prison was so crucial. Catra leaned into her touch like it was addicting, almost. Shadow Weaver praised her, even mentioning how Catra could be better if she took the right precautions. Shadow Weaver felt like the parental figure she never had, for a moment. Then Shadow Weaver escaped and Catra was devastated. She thought she had met her expectations for once, her being especially crucial. As abusive as she was, Shadow Weaver was the only parental figure Catra had known. She was happy for a second, comforted by that one parental figure for probably what was the first and only time, only for her to realize that it was Shadow Weaver manipulating Catra one last time, punching her in the gut, and leaving her... once again, for Adora.

And Catra is ticked off by it.

Now she no longer cares. She’s been backstabbed by Shadow Weaver who screwed her over for Adora. She’s felt so insignificant. She’s willing to do whatever it takes to get the approval of the person who’s truly in power here, Hordak.

Remember in the Crimson Waste when Catra mentions she’s lost everything? Haha, no she didn’t, at the time. The moment she left the Crimson Waste to return to the Fright Zone and prove to Hordak that she was useful, she lost everything she’s had, for real this time.

She backstabbed Entrapta after she admitted Adora was right, even after she saved Catra’s life. If Hordak ever finds out, she’s utterly screwed.

She then turned on Scorpia, who tried to intervene when Catra stabs Entrapta with a stun baton. Scorpia looks extremely hurt, although later mentions she believes that Catra was just scared and didn’t mean to. But Scorpia doesn’t even entirely believe that anymore, considering her face expression as she tried to convince Adora of it. Scorpia is no longer convinced herself.

Notice how both Scorpia and Entrapta cut off mid-sentence when talking about Catra in the warped reality and pause for a second? Yeah.

The worst part is that Catra pushed Adora to the limit here too. Catra’s pissed Adora off completely, and Adora is no longer going to go easy on Catra. Adora’s always been gentle with Catra despite the fact she could easily take her out (cue berserk She-Ra scene) but she never has. It’s no longer the case now, and Catra knows. She knows she’s made a huge mistake.

Catra has now completely lost everything.

Now here’s what I’m thinking... there’s two main ways (I could think of that’s fairly reasonable) the plot could go with this.

Catra gets away with backstabbing Entrapta, but soon finds out that Hordak isn’t even the true leader. Hordak gets his redemption arc, in which he sides with the princesses against Horde Prime. Angered, Catra sides with Horde Prime.

Going down this course, however, Catra’s going to realize that she is nothing to Horde Prime as well.

Horde Prime clearly wants to be a monarch. He doesn’t care about others. He’s not going to want Catra to be a second in command at all. Even if he does end up doing that, he’ll just use her and dispose of her.

The only thing I can see here is that Catra will eventually be forced to join the Princess Alliance.

Hordak finds out about what Catra did and gets sent to Beast Island just as the Princess Alliance go to the island as well.

Scorpia is very likely going to rat Catra out. That scorpion cannot keep a secret for her life and it’s... pretty obvious.

Catra gets sent to Beast Island and there’s the whole sequence of Catra and her mask and being the queen of the Magicats... this is entirely speculation upon the original She-Ra series. You can read the original Catra’s story here.

Even if the whole Magicats sequence doesn’t happen, I’m sure that she’ll end up just rallying a bunch of people against Hordak or something. How much do we all want to bet that there are a bunch of Horde rejects there and they end up influencing her into taking revenge? I mean, her main motivation is spite, once again.

Either way, I think she’ll get a redemption arc. It may take a while, and I think it’ll be after Hordak gets a redemption (ahaha, who we thought to be the main villain getting a redemption? who thought?) if he gets one, which I really think he will.

To be completely fair, with his interactions with Entrapta, I really think he will. It’s clear that he’s bitter about being cast out and definitely has emotions that he represses. Where have we seen that before, hmm...

Madame Razz

Alright, we’re coming back to her.

I originally thought that she may be a First One, but by the way she acts and talks, I don’t think so anymore. I think she’s just been on Etheria for a very long time and has come to expect the weird things that occur on the planet. She also seems to be some sort of magical being. She seemed entirely unfazed by the portal instability, possibly because of Mara, but I’m starting to wonder if she has some sort of time traveling experience, or is some all-seeing being maybe? (I mentioned time-travel because she does mention that it was “just yesterday” for herself when she watched Mara do the same thing, trying to fix the portal...) In fact, she walked straight into everything that was disappearing while everyone else fled from it.

And she does say “Oh, it’s been such a long time since we last saw each other, hasn’t it? That, or, it hasn’t happened yet. I always get those two things mixed up.” How the hell do you mix up the future and the past? She has to have some sort of time-travel capability. (or future vision like Garnet, like where she mentions she can see into other timelines and stuff...)

She was kind of everywhere in S3E5, which caused Adora to run around the Fright Zone while freaking out. She even led Adora straight to Hordak’s sanctum when the door disappeared...

I mean, she seems to know Adora’s power very well from Mara. And since Mara and Adora look nothing alike, I wonder if she senses the same magic Shadow Weaver sensed from Adora.

It would make sense, at least, because they both are She-Ras... and Razz can’t exactly tell them apart.

Also the whole Mara and She-Ra thing on the piece of paper would make more sense, but that could just be Adora struggling to remember and her subconsciousness screwing with her.

She’s still a huge mystery to me. At least I could mention this, at least.

Light Hope and the First Ones

Oh boy, do I want to talk about this.

I think they’ll end up being the end-game villains.

Note Mara’s words here... “I never wanted to be a hero. I won’t be remembered as one.”

It’s odd. She never straight-up mentions that she wasn’t a hero. She said that she never wanted to be one... and those who remember her name won’t see her as one. It’s very unique wording. And it shows a lot.

Light Hope seems directly programmed in getting rid of Adora’s attachments. She’s constantly telling Adora to move on, never really explaining Adora’s background and purpose, never giving Adora a choice in anything.

Mara grew attached. But to what?

The First Ones were explorers. They weren’t native to Etheria.

They created all these structures and seemed to have left in a hurry, or at least, that’s what Adora said when they were in that Ghost Town. My speculation is that they left when Mara was stranding Etheria.

I feel like the First Ones were colonizers. They didn’t care much for the people around. Mara realized this, grew attached to the native people of Etheria, and tried to save the people of Etheria from future colonizers. I’m assuming the settlers panicked and fled.

It would also explain why there are no more First Ones. They all ran when Mara turned against them.

It also explains what She-Ra was for before Horde Prime. She-Ra was for keeping peace, for restoring balance. So what type of disorder was there back then?

If the First Ones were explorers, then the first thing that comes to mind is peace with the natives of Etheria. It would also make sense that Mara grew attached to them, much to the First Ones’ dismay, causing them to shun her. Causing Light Hope to declare that Mara was, well, a failure. But she really wasn’t.

Even Razz says “Destroy the world? No! Mara saved the world!” And I think Razz is right.

A general speculation...

The storyline of She-Ra is a massive struggle for power. Those who end out on top are the people who were willing to widen their perspective. The same is true, mostly, in the real world.

We’ve already seen a few examples of this...

Let’s hope some of the current antagonists of the story do the same.

Catradora (fairytale beauty and the beast)

Okey this is an AU and my take on it so it isn't following the movie or story the whole time it is also a bit of what I like but it is in that time and the place of beauty and the beast. I did of course do my best to follow the story. And everybody is the same age unless mentioned as in father or anything like that. So a Hordak is the same age as Adora here

Third pov

There was once a young prince could only love herself and only cares about her appearance. She didn't want to do anything for people. One day there was this old lady standing in front of the castle. If was raining a lot and the lady was already old so when the Prince opened the door the woman looked at her. "Please can this old woman stay inside to warm up until the rain is gone?"

"No you can't get in I don't want you in this castle I want you to go away." The prince said arrogant and annoyed making the old lady look at her "You will regret this. You only care about yourself and your looks so you will have to deal with an different appearance. If there isn't somebody that will love you for your appearance you will forever stay this beast." The woman said placing a curse on the young prince and going away.

The prince laughed a bit not trusting the woman before just walking inside and looking in the mirror only to see herself changing into a horrible beast. In rage she started to ruin a lot of things in the castle knowing nobody will love her anymore.

~meanwhile in a small village~

Adora was just walking around town when Hardok walked over to her again "ahh the beautiful Adora looking good as always." He said and she just looked at him. "Oh hey Hardok." She said while she kept walking "Well why don't you marry me Adora?" Hardok asked while following her "Because I don't like you go annoy another girl." She said before just walking away. Hardok looked defeated and just kept watching her before going to the pub.

Adora pov

I absolutely despise Hardok he is annoying, rude and cruel. And then he also thinks that I want to marry him no way in hell I will ever do that even if he was the last person on this earth. So now it is finally time to go home again and see my dad.

When I finally am home I look at that idiot of a father of me. I mean I love him but sometimes he is way too busy with making arrows for his bow. "Hey dad how are you today?" I ask him making him smile. " I'm really good I made some arrows that I'm going to use when hunting tomorrow. And how is my beautiful girl?" He asked making me smile. "Pretty good if you don't count Hardok and his annoying reaction." I say thinking about it. "He was annoying again. Really I wish I could just hit him with an arrow." I just laugh when he says that. "Of course. I will make some food." I tell him before starting to make some dinner for both of us.

After dinner I just watched my father work further on his arrows. "Alright remember when you wake up tomorrow I'm probably already gone but I will be back by 6pm." He says making me smile. "Of course have fun." I say before kissing him on his cheek and just going to bed.

~timeskip next day~

Once the sun started to shine trough my window I woke up and yawned looking around and getting up. "I guess dad is already gone like he said." I mutter to myself before just walking downstairs and start to make breakfast while humming. Once the food is made I sit down at the table eating it and reading my favorite book.

After breakfast I just look around the house and start helping my dad by cleaning most of it. When I'm done with cleaning I just walk to he centre of the town again looking around the shops before going to the bookstore. "Ah there you are Adora I already expected you." A familiar voice said making me smile. "Hello Angella it is also really good to see you again." I say looking around. "So do you have anything else to read for me?" I ask making her laugh. "You were here yesterday as well and no I don't have anything new since yesterday." I just nodded. "Well that is okey then I just take this one." I say making her laugh. "That really is your favorite isn't it you always want that one so you can keep it if you want." I just look with big eyes. "Really that is amazing." I said before walking away.

Not before long I'm just walking around again this time having my nose in the book again. And surprise surprise I hear a certain voice. "Why are you wasting your precious time by reading books while you could do better things." Hardok said making me sigh. "Well I like reading books and unlike you I don't want to be an uncultured swine that only thinks his looks are going to give him everyone." I said walking away from him. "But my beautiful Adora you don't need to read or search for anybody. Especially since I really want to marry you. And that would also be so much better for your father. Think how happy he will be that his daughter is married." He said making me actually put my book away and glare at him.

"First of all I'm not yours so don't title me as yours. Second of all I already told you I don't want to marry you. And especially not now I see how much of an uncultured swine you are. You don't even understand the thing about reading. It helps you getting smarter and it is actually really fun. Maybe it would help if you would read for once." I say "Well now you need to excuse me I have to go home and see my father." I say turning around and walking away back to home.

Once I'm home I look at the time it is 5.55 pm so dad should be home soon. Because I know he will be here Soon I just start to make dinner for us so we can eat once he is here. While I'm cooking I'm smiling happy about it and also happy I can just read some more again especially since I have dinner ready just keeping it warm until my father is here again. So I'm just sitting down in a chair and reading my book again.

After some reading I look up at the clock. "It is already 8 pm where is he?" I wonder out loud before walking outside to look around and to see if he didn't just already arrived and I missed him. But when I get outside I don't see him. Not before long swift wind ran over looking in lot of panic. "Hey it is okey Swift wind I'm here where is dad?" I ask trying to calm him. Swift wind just turns around to the forest making me nod. I just got a coat putting it around me and getting outside again. "Alright swift wind let's go and get my father." I say before getting on his back and riding to the forest starting to search for him.

Soon enough there are wolves trying to get me to fall. But I just try to fight back against them. I started to use a stick I had in my hands to hit them and get them away. While fighting a castle started to doom up pretty close by. Swift wind suddenly stopped running making me look confused before realising he didn't want to go closer to the castle so I just jump off and start walking towards the castle. "It is okey Swift wind I will be back." I say before just walking further and opening the castle doors.

When I walk inside I look around finding it pretty dark and just trying to find my father. "Okey where can I find my father in a big castle?" I ask myself thinking about it. "Oh right the dungeons." I say before making my way to the dungeons and looking around "dad are you here?" I ask. "Adora go away there is a monster here." He says so I run over. "Dad good I found you now I just get you out and then we can go home."

Catra pov

I just heard some noises in the dungeons so I just went to look there seeing a girl trying to get open the cell that idiot was in. What was his name again oh yeah he said he was called Bow. Such a stupid name. "What do you think you are doing?" I growl standing in the shadows. Suddenly I see the girl turn around looking scared. "I'm getting my father out of here." She says making me growl more. "I don't think so he got here and he is my prisoner."

"Well my father can't handle being in a cell so please take me instead of him." The girls says and I have to be honest that she dares that makes me actually really surprised so I just walk into the light. "So you want me to let him go and put you in this cell are you sure?" I growl while Bow looked at her. "Don't do this Adora." He said while 'Adora' I guess just looked at him "I have to father you need to be safe." She says making me just walk over and open the celldoor pulling Bow out before holding it open for Adora to get in. Soon enough she indeed went into the cell. "Alright you go away I never want to see you here again." I growled and bow just ran out of the castle.

When that had happened I looked one more time at Adora before walking away from her. "You know you could be nicer to her." I hear a voice saying making me sigh since I know who that voice belongs to. "Shut it Entrapta I don't want to hear it." I say making her sigh. "But maybe she can lift the curse." She says hopeful swinging with those candles of her. "I'm not expecting that." I say walking away again. "Well at least you can't let her stay in the cold dungeons." Entrapta says making me sigh and walk back to the cell. "You're lucky Entrapta wants you out of here so badly." I said and the girl just looked really confused so I opened the door and pulled the girl out.

"Alright Entrapta will show you to the room you will be staying in." I growled walking away like always.

Adora pov

Okey that was weird and who is Entrapta. " Oh hello I'm Entrapta and just follow me." A talking candelabra told me making me look confused but I just have to deal with it after all there is also a talking beast. "Euhm...hi I'm Adora." I say making Entrapta nod. " It is really nice to meet you now please follow me I will show you your room." She said before starting to jump towards my room making me follow her. Soon we got by my room and I opened the door. "Here is your room. You eat together with beast and he expects you to be there around 5 pm." Entrapta said. "If you don't know when that is then you are really stupid." Shadow weaver said making me look confused before seeing the clock standing there. "That is Shadow weaver and she is just really bossy and rude so don't mind her." Entrapta said before dragging Shadow weaver with her and leaving me alone.

I just sighed "what does that beast want with me?" I asked myself before groaning. "And I miss my dad." I said just starting to feel sad about it. "Oh poor child." I suddenly heard and looked around in shock. "Who is there?" I ask before seeing the closet open and close. "Sorry I didn't want to scare you away." The closet said making me get big eyes. "Wait who are you then?" I ask making the closet laugh. "The name is Scorpia and I have a feeling that Catra will like you even if she looks like a grumpypants." She said making me nod. "I see well I don't like it at all She kidnapped me and it is all really weird. Now I have to have dinner with her." I said sighing. "I know she is a bit weird but don't worry I can help you. Especially with clothes." Scorpia said making me smile a bit "Sure."

The clothes started to dance around and Scorpia just looked at what looked better on me before deciding on a pretty yellow dress. I looked in the mirror and smiled. "That is beautiful." I said making Scorpia smile. "That is good to hear. Now go to the dinner room you don't want her to wait." She said making me nod and walk our of the room starting to try to make my way to the dinner room not being sure if it would go alright. Soon I just walk into the the dinner room and sit down looking at beast at the other side of the l9ng table.

Soon the food just arrived and I started to eat not being sure about what to say. While eating I just looked up at beast again who was eating like a real beast. "Why did you want to kidnap me so badly?" I ask before seeing her stop eating. "I just don't like people coming here without reason. And your father did that. I didn't say you had to stay here instead of that man." She growled out. " Well it is my father of course I would protect him. But I just don't see why you couldn't just let him go anyways." I say even more annoyed about before seeing her slam her fists on the table growling and getting up "dinner is over you can go back to your room." She said walking away. I just watched her leave feeling really bad about it. So I just walked back to my room like beasts wants me to and fall onto my bed crying.

~meantime in the village with Bow. Hardok pov~

"Help help" I suddenly hear a voice yell making me go over to the source seeing our crazy huntsman again. " So what kind of crazy story do you now have bow?" I ask laughing. "T-there is a beast in the forest." He says making me laugh more. "Aren't you supposed to kill beasts?" I ask getting more amused by the second about the conversation with him. "Well yes but this is a different beast. This one could even talk and was really fast and strong." He says making me nod "Sure just go home and sleep it away. You are just telling another strong story." I say making him sigh "no I'm not that beast kidnapped Adora." He says making me look shocked. "Wait that monster has my beautiful Adora. Don't worry I will hunt it down and kill it." I said before walking away.

I just walked into the pub. "Guys it is time to get out weapons and kill a beast." I say "YEAH." They all yell before everybody started to get their weapons and I just walked over to my own gun grabbing it and just starting to get it ready before walking out and starting to walk into the forest with all the others.

~in the castle Catra pov~

I just pace around in my room "who does she think she is?" I ask myself being annoyed with the girl but also with myself. "Well I don't know if you noticed it but if you would be nicer to her she can maybe lift the curse." Entrapta says making me growl more. "Why would she want to date a beast anyways?" I ask while Entrapta is just lighting up her own candles again. "Well it is easy she looks like she doesn't judge anybody on their looks just on their actions so be nicer and you stand a chance." Entrapta says making me actually stop pacing around and just stand in front of her. "And why do you think she will trust me?" I ask confused about it especially after how rude I treated her from the start. "Well it is easy she loves books let her be allowed in the library and maybe spend some time with the girl. Like getting to know her."

"I guess so Entrapta maybe I will try that." I said thinking about it before actually immidiatly going over to her room and knocking on the door. "Go away." I hear a voice from the inside say sounding as if she is crying. "I am the master of this place so you will open up." I said rudely before realising my mistake. "Please." I say with it hoping that would actually help a little bit. "Fine." I hear from the other side of the door before the door opens. "What do you want then? You never come here." She says making me actually annoyed but I decided not to react on that. "Well it is easy I just want to show you something." I say grabbing her hand and starting to drag her along.

"Where are you taking me now?" The girl asks her voice sounding annoyed but at the same time scared making me smirk a bit. "You will see soon enough." I tell her before just walking with her to two big doors and opening the doors. "Here you go this is my library and you are allowed here since you love reading so much." I say and hear a gasp. " Really thank you so much." The girl says before just walking over to one of the bookshelves and starting to look for a book she wants to read. "Do you want to read with me?" She asks and I just shale my head. "No thanks my claws are in the way." I say making her laugh. "Sit with me please?" She asks and I want to say no so badly but just remind myself of what Entrapta said before sitting next to her not expecting what happened next she just started to read the book out loud to me with her beautiful angel like voice.

I just kept listening to her reading and soon she stopped since the book was done. "Well thank you that I was allowed here today." She said making me look at her with a smile. "No problem and you are allowed to come here whenever you want to. Just like you can walk trough the castle where you want except for my wing." I say and she nods before we just walk to the dinner room and start eating again.

After dinner I walk to my own wing and look at the rose seeing another petal fall making me sigh knowing that it means that the curse is going to be permanent earlier. 'Maybe just maybe Entrapta is right.' I just dare to think it for a bit before just growling knowing nobody could ever love me and especially not somebody as beautiful as her. She just deserves better. I just walk around in my wing until it is time to go to bed and sleep my worries away again.

~few weeks later Adora pov~

These few weeks have been really fun for me especially since I was able to go to the garden which brings me a lot of joy just like I can read all the books I want now. To be honest the best thing about it is actually how interested Catra looks when I start to read out loud and just tell her the story. She seems to really be happy at times like that. I feel like she isn't the worst person around here.

"So Adora do you have any wishes that you want to do?" Catra asks making me smile and nod. "Yes I would love to spend some time with you and may be go outside with you." I said blushing a bit while she smirked and nods. "Sure we can do that." She tells me before starting to walk making me actually follow her outside where I just look around seeing snow everywhere. So I just make a snowball and throw it against Catra before laughing especially since she looks so confused. When she starts to smirk I smile more before getting a snowball against my face "Oh now it is on." I said happy before we both just start to throw snowballs at each other having a lot of fun.

After a while I start to shiver and she walks over to me just wrapping her cape around me and taking me inside again to put me in a chair before the fireplace. "Wait here I will make some hot chocolate." She says making me nod while shivering actually really happy she is starting to be nicer. So I just smile more really starting to feel at home here with her.

"Here you go." I suddenly hear being so deep in thought that I didn't hear her walking up to me. "Oh thanks." I say taking the hot chocolate and taking a little sip. " That makes it better." I say smiling watching to see her face go from worried to happy. "Good if you need anything just tell me." Catra says making me nod "of course. But now you say so-" I said cutting myself off being afraid to ask it. "Yes what is it?" She asks making me take a deep breath. "Could you please sit by me for the warmth?" I ask blushing making her smile and nod. "Of course." She says walking over and sitting by me just holding me against her so i could warm up.

Slowly I just calmed down and started to warm up while listening to the calm heartbeat of Catra. Thanks to the calling sound of her heartbeat and breathing I feel my eyes become heavy and I just slowly feel myself sliding into unconsciousness.

Catra pov

After the snowball fight i just give Adora some hot chocolate and want to just get her warm again so when she asks me to sit by her and hold her to get her warm I just do it. While I'm sitting there I just keep an arm closely around her actually enjoying the feeling of her being so close to me. And when I look at her I smile more seeing my beautiful angel being asleep. I don't know when it started that I just see her as the most beautiful person on this earth and I just want her to be there forever. With her I don't feel like a monster. I actually feel loved and I'm happy no matter how I look. So now I'm just hoping that she also feels the same and would like to stay with me.

While I'm thinking about it I just keep sitting there calmly and wait for Adora to wake up although when she sleeps she just looks so amazing and sweet. Soft murmers make me actually focus more on her trying to notice what she is saying. "Please no..... not Catra." I just hear making me blush and actually be really confused. "Don't." I hear and look really confused. "NOOO." She suddenly yells and just sits up being awake again.

"What is wrong my angel?" I ask being to worried about her to care about my wording. "People wanted to hurt you." She says her voice braking while she starts to cry. It really hurts me to see her like that and I never want to see her like that again. "Nobody is going to hurt me I promise you." I say slowly wiping the tears that are falling away. "Y-you sure?" She asks her voice braking more making me feel like my heart was going to break even more. "Yes I'm sure I will do anything to keep them from harming you and me. Now please don't cry anymore. A smile makes you so much more beautiful love." I say

"Y-you really think it looks better?" She asks and I smile. "Yes it looks beautiful on you." I say blushing about it. "Well I think that you look very pretty with a smile as well." Adora says slowly getting a smile on her face again. Thanks to that smile I just feel my heart flutter. "Thanks love." I say making her smile. "You're welcome Kitten." Adora says making me blush "k-kitten?" I ask making her smile adorable. "Yes you call me angel so I wanted to have a nickname for you as well that is why I call you kitten." Adora says making me smile.

"I don't know if this is the right time but dinner is ready." Entrapta says suddenly standing in front of us with Shadow Weaver. "Alright we will be there." I say making Entrapta nod before they both go away making me smile. "Those two really do their best just like Scorpia." I say making Adora laugh. "They are funny and nice if I'm being honest." She says and I just nod before we both get up and walk to the dinner room to see a really nice dinner standing there. I pull the chair backwards so Adora can sit down. Once she sits I just push her forward so she is sitting close by the table and then just sit down myself so we can eat.

Third pov

While Catra and Adora are enjoying their dinner and the love they are feeling for each other Hordak and the people from the village finally start to find the way to the castle. It took them weeks to actually find their way trough the forest especially since they had to go back every time but now they are on their way to slay the beast.

While they are making their way over to the castle some hours pass and a terrible storm is coming up. In the castle everything seems to be really nice and peaceful. Catra and Adora are just dancing together and having fun while Entrapta and Shadow Weaver are just watching them. "They are really made for each other." Entrapta says making Shadow Weaver sigh. "I hope so since the time is almost gone and I don't feel like staying a clock forever." She says making Entrapta smile. "Calm down they are in love I'm sure the curse will be broken." She says and they both just hope for it not noticing the danger getting really close by.

Adora pov

This is the most fun I have had in my life. These weeks were amazing. I'm so happy here that I'm really wanting to stay here. Soon I start to hear voices coming closer and see that Catra looks really worried. "What is wrong kitten?" I ask her. "Nothing don't worry about it my angel I wi make sure they won't take you away from me." Catra says it just confuses me even more until I hear the door being broken. "COME ON WE ARE SLAYING A BEAST AND GETTING ADORA BACK."

"No." I say quietly feeling like my nightmare is starting to come true. And just also feeling like I'm going to lose the love of my life. Especially when Hordak runs in and starts to fight with Catra. In the fight she runs away and he follows her. So I just follow them as well not wanting to lose my kitten out of sight. So when I follow them I notice them going to the roof. So I keep following them.

Third pov

When Hordak walked in and yelled "COME ON WE ARE SLAYING A BEAST AND GETTING ADORA BACK." The other villagers actually got scared and ran back to the village because of the thunder going trough the air. "I don't need all of you." Hordak says before walking over to Catra and fighting her. While they are fighting Catra just runs away to find a better place before Hordak hits her with an arrow in the shoulder. She roars in pain and just gets out on the roof. When Hordak gets on the roof he starts to hit her. "What is wrong beast can't even fight back." He said trying to get her angry but Catra just let him hit her more until she was on the edge of the castle. "Please don't lose." Adora yells becoming really worried and sad. At the same time Hordak grabs a stone wanting to hit Catra with it.

Catra suddenly grabs the stone and pushes Hordak back before getting up and indeed fighting back. With the fight Catra ends up in the shadow of some stone statues while Hordak tries to find her. "Do you really think Adora likes somebody like you." He says while searching before Catra gets up behind him and when he turns around she hits him away before holding him above the edge. "Please no." He says and while she is angry she wants to kill him until she thinks of Adora then she just let's him fall ontop of the roof. "Leave." She growls to him and looks up to Adora. "My angel." She says and just climbs up to the balcony where Adora is holding her hand out to help Catra up.

At that moment Hordak also gets up and while Catra is distracted with Adora he just climbs up and gets his knife out. When he is close by Catra he stabs her in the side and thanks to the backwards movement Catra makes with a howl of pain Hordak let's go and falls to his death from the roof. At the same time Adora grabs Catra by her cape and pulls her onto the balcony saving her from dying.

When Adora pulls Catra on the balcony Catra falls onto the ground thanks to the wounds. "No please survive kitten I don't want to lose you." Adora says the tears walking up in her eyes when she sees her love laying there dying. "It is okey Angel. At least I saw your beautiful face now." Catra says before her eyes closed and she slowly faded into unconsciousness. "No please don't die" Adora said sobbing while holding onto Catra. "I love you." She says at the same time as that the last petal of the rose fell down.

Suddenly a bright light came from Catra and she started to fly a bit. The bright light stayed around her and slowly her claws became hands again just like her paws became feet again. As last her face became human again and she stood on the ground not having any wounds left. "It is me Adora." She said since Adora was looking confused. So Adora walked closer and put a hand against her cheek while looking into her eyes. "It is indeed you." She said smiling before they finally kissed each other.

By the kiss a blue light started to shine and the curse around the castle started to lift. Suddenly the darkness surrounding the castle started to clear up and the castle itself started to look like it was supposed to do. Entrapta and Shadow Weaver came over before the light also hit them and they changed back into their own human forms. Same for Scorpia who soon joined them standing by them.

~timeskip a year later where everybody is happy~

In the year a lot has changed. The little village where Adora lived is very happy that their Prince is back and they are all happy and are actually grateful that Hordak is away he doesn't really get missed at all. Bow is now one of the most known person around the village and people love to ask him to hunt some things for them. All the servants live happily around Adora and Catra. While Glimmer also lives in the castle to be close to her best friend. And now one of the most important days has arrived it is Adora's birthday.

Catra pov

It is finally Angels birthday and I honestly can't wait to give her my gift but I know that have to wait until we are all here to celebrate. I'm making it extra special since I have made invites for the whole village wanting them all to be there. And at the same time I'm now just watching the servants getting all the tables ready. "Hey Catra you need to taste the cake and see if everything is okey with the food." Entrapta says making me smile "of course." I say before going to the kitchen.

While tasting the cake I just smile more. "That is amazing I love the cake and the food all looks really good so now it is just waiting until all the guests arrive." I say knowing Bow was keeping Adora busy with Glimmer until everybody was there. And I really couldn't contain my happiness anymore.

When all the guests arrived I smiled and walked in as well. "Thank you all for coming." I say making them all smile before Glimmer, Bow and Adora walk in. "Happy birthday." We all say making Adora look really happy and smile. "Thank you so much all of you." Sh says walking over to me and kissing my cheek. "Thanks kitten for giving me this party." She tells me making me smirk." Everything for my angel." I say and she just smiled. So we all just enjoy the party eating and drinking before getting some cake. When everybody is quiet I just stand up "speech time." Entrapta yells making everybody laugh a bit.

"Thank you Entrapta. But she is right I indeed have a little speech. My sweet Adora we have had a lot of trouble the last few months and we didn't really start in a good way." I say making some people stiffle some laughs and Adora just smiled. "And to say that I was rude would be putting it nicely. But even how rude and stubborn I was, you still broke trough my walls and started to live in my heart. Making me not wanting to lose you for anything. Not even caring what would happen I just want to have you always by my side then I know I survive everything." I say seeing the tears in her eyes before I get on one knee. "So with all that said please Adora would you want to be my Queen, my wife, my everything by marrying me?" I ask starting to worry until I see her crying. "Yes I love to." She says making me smile happily and put the ring around her finger before kissing her happily.

"That is the best gift I could get on my birthday." Adora said making everybody smile happily before we just enjoyed the party more and just danced together. While everybody is dancing I pull Adora outside to stand by all the roses and to watch the moon with all the pretty stars. "Thank you for making me the happiest person alive." I tell her while looking at her. "Thank you too for also making me the happiest person in this live. I don't want to lose you to anything." She says so we both smile and share another kiss

Third pov

Of course after some months of careful planning the big day was there and they had beautiful ceremony with roses everywhere. So they said yes to each other and became King and Queen for the world and husband and wife for each other before of course living happily ever after.
