little date at the shop (b.c)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
y'know, depending on what happens, i might do little blurbs on mechanic!chris 🫢 i never thought i'd like it this much 🤭 i do hope you guys enjoy this cute fic! let me know what you think 🩷
feedback is greatly appreciated 🥰
“Do you think he'd like it if I brought him food?” You ask Hyunjin, pinning your phone against your shoulder.
Your friend on the line scoffs, and you can see him rolling his eyes. “I'm sure he would, yes,” Hyunjin answers. “He's always liked that kind of stuff.”
A smile graces your lips. “Okay, I'm going to bring him lunch then,” you giggle, putting the phone on speaker before looking at your delivery app.
“If I knew you are going to act like this, I never would've introduced you,” he says with a laugh, mumbling to himself about how Chris is all you talk about.
“I'm sorry, I'm sorry!” You dramatically apologize, halting your search for food to give him your attention.
Hyunjin sighs, taking a minute before he speaks again. “No, it's okay. I shouldn't be complaining. I haven't seen you this happy about someone since the last guy. I'm just really glad you found a good one,” he explains, causing your lips to pout.
“I appreciate you looking out for me, Hyune. I couldn't ask for a better friend,” you tell him, tracing random shapes on your table.
“I better be your best man at the wedding,” he jokes, bringing the mood back up.
You let out a cackle, and you tip your head back. “You'd have to take that up with Chris,” you remind him while shaking your head.
“Oh don't you worry, I'll be sure he knows!” He chuckles. “I have to go. If you see him, tell him I said hi.”
You agree to his request before you bid him goodbye. You hang up the phone and go back to your delivery app. You remember him mentioning that he loves sushi, so that's what you'll order.
After waiting for twenty minutes for the food to arrive, you quickly hop into your vehicle. You gently set the delivery bag onto your passenger seat, buckling up before backing out of your driveway.
During the drive towards Five-Star Auto, you couldn't help but begin to feel nervous. You and Chris have been on four dates since the day Hyuintro “introduced” you. In your perspective, everything's going well. You're just slightly confused as to why he hasn't made things official yet.
You bite your lip, zoning out at the stoplight as you recall him saying he doesn't have time for relationships. Does he even want one? Is that why he hasn't kissed you again? A million questions run through your head, making you panic a little.
“Maybe he's being respectful,” you mumble to yourself, pressing down on the gas as soon as the light turns green.
You pull into the parking lot of the garage, noticing his vehicle being the only one. You park next to him and shut your vehicle off. A deep breath comes from your lips, trying to calm yourself down before heading inside.
“He'd tell me if he doesn't want to see me anymore,” you say to yourself, looking at your reflection in the mirror.
You grab the food beside you and exit the vehicle. After locking it, you shove your keys into your hoodie pocket. You peek through the open door of the garage, looking for Chris.
“Are you looking for me?” A voice whispers into your ear, causing you to jump. You almost drop the food, miraculously managing to catch it while turning around.
Chris chuckles, his hands resting behind his back. “I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you,” he apologizes, bringing a hand to your arm and gently strokes it.
“How are you so quiet?” You ask him in disbelief, pressing your free hand against your chest. “Every time I see you, you're sneaking up on me.”
“I wouldn't say I'm sneaky,” he mentions, leading you into the place. “I think you're just really bad at noticing your surroundings.”
You scoff, rolling your eyes playfully. “Okay, you got me there,” you groan, tapping your fingers against the bag you're holding. “It's your lunch time, right?”
“It is,” Chris beams, his eyes looking down at your full hands. “Did you bring me lunch?”
“I, I bought us lunch,” you clarify, feeling yourself heating up in embarrassment. “That is if you wanna have lunch with me.”
The grin on his lips widens, and you watch him shake his head. Your fingers grip the bag in your hands, thinking he's going to reject the idea. A gasp leaves your lips when you feel his lips kiss your forehead.
“Of course I want to have lunch with you,” he reassures you, grabbing your free hand before walking into his office.
You sit down in front of his desk, pulling the chair closer so you don't make a mess. You can feel his eyes on you as you untie the plastic bag. “I didn't know what you liked exactly, so I took a guess,” you tell him with flushed cheeks.
You pull the trays of sushi out, setting them in the middle of you both. “Oh, I actually love this one,” Chris points to your favorite, making your heart flutter.
He reaches into the bag, grabbing the two packets of chopsticks. He opens both of them as you uncover the sushi you bought. Chris holds out a pair to you with a smile.
“Thank yo–” you cut yourself off when Chris moves the utensils out of reach. Your eyes meet his, noticing the admiration in them.
“I'm really glad you stopped by,” he says softly, gently placing the chopsticks in your hand. “And thank you for the food.”
Your heart starts to pound against your chest, the tension between you two thickening. “Of course. I… You make me really happy,” you mention loud enough for him to hear, directing your gaze to the sushi.
Chris stands up from his chair before taking two steps towards you. His index finger hooks beneath your chin, lifting your head slowly. Your breath hitches in your throat as he leans forward.
“You make me happy too,” he whispers, a shiver running down your spine at the feeling of his fingers.
“Can I ask you something?” You ask quietly, your eyes roaming his entire face. Chris nods his head, crouching a bit so you're eye level. You set down the pair of chopsticks before laying your hand over his. “Are you planning to ask me to be yours?”
His eyes widen at your question, and you notice the tips of his ears start to turn red. “I–” Chris pauses, looking down for a few seconds before returning his gaze to you. “I planned on it, yeah. I was just trying to find the right time.”
“Now is fine,” you giggle shyly, removing his hand from your face so you can play with the tips of his fingers.
“It's not too fast?” He asks, furrowing his brow.
You shake your head, confused as to why he would think that. He laces his fingers with yours before kissing the back of your hand.
“I talked to Hyunjin about your ex. He mentioned that he liked to move fast with you and that it made you uncomfortable. So, I was taking things slow until you were ready,” he explains with a sigh.
Oh, I think I'm in love. You think to yourself, bringing your free hand to his cheek. “You are so sweet,” you whisper, closing the space between you.
Chris releases a breathy moan as your lips collide with his. He hasn't kissed you since the night you met, and the feeling he got then is still the same.
You pull away from him before he can deepen it, earning a whine from him. You smile and tap his cheek lovingly. “So, Christopher, can I be yours?” You ask him, planting a couple more kisses on his lips.
“You already are,” he breathes out, pursing his lips during one of your quick kisses.

"Can we not turn the music on right now..? I'm tryna look for a case here," Sam looks at you with a tired expression. He was in the backseat, skimming through a newspaper.
"Don't be a sourpuss, Sammy. Let the kid put on some tunes, maybe then it'll loosen you up enough to get that stick out of your ass," Dean snickered, nodding at you as you turned on some Bon Jovi, making Sam groan in annoyance when you turned the volume up.
"Come on, Sammy, don't be a killjoy and enjoy the music," you pouted, clearly trying to rile him up. He rolled his eyes going back to the newspaper. You watched him from the rear-view mirror, admiring how dopey yet handsome he looked in the backseat, focused on looking for a case.
Dean elbowed you, causing you to look away from Sam and at him, giving you a 'you're staring for too long' look. You cleared your throat awkwardly, face turning into a pinkish hue, making Dean chuckle. Sam looked up from the paper, confused yet curious about what was happening in the front seat.
You accidentally made eye contact, making you turn even more red, turning the volume of the music louder to try and cover up the awkward tension. Sam sighed, not expecting you to turn on the music any louder.
While listening to the music, you zoned out thinking about some of your past hunts with Sam and Dean - well, you're mostly thinking about Sam and the times he saved your ass from becoming mince meat from the monsters you've fought. You know you shouldn't have grown a crush on him but it's not like you could control it! Sam was kind, tall, smart and protective. You just had to be a sucker for guy's like that huh..?
But Sam only saw you like a little sister and you knew that. The ruffles on the head, motivating you and supporting you was out of brotherly love. Nothing more, nothing less.
The car stops, taking you out of your trance, and Dean pulls over at a diner, "I'm gonna go take a leak and get some pie, don't do anything nasty while I'm gone," he winked at you, causing you to groan and shooting him a glare. Once he left, the car was filled with Dean's music playing softly in the background and the newspaper rustling every time Sam changed a page.
Out of pure habit, you started to pick on the skin of your nails - it was a thing you usually did when you were overthinking. Sam seemed to notice, grabbing your left hand before it started bleeding.
Sam checked on your fingers, his touch making you nervous as you pulled your hand away, your heartbeat quickening, "I'm fine, Sammy.."
You grumbled, pulling your knees up to your chest. He wasn't really convinced but let it go for now. Sam knew of your feelings, but he just wasn't over Jess. That type of hurt took time to heal and you knew that. You both did.
"Just stop picking at it, okay? I don't want you to bleed," he said your name in a soft tone, making you look at him. He had a small warm smile, his head tilted to the side - it made him look like a cute puppy, and it made your heart swell. You just gently nodded, quietly waiting for Dean to come back.
Once you got to a motel, you plopped your duffle bag on the bed, groaning tiredly... why did you have to gain these feelings for Sam?
It was frustrating, but you couldn't do anything about it. You were just a kid in his eyes. Or what you told yourself at least.. there was just no way he'd actually gain feelings for you.
Deciding to take a quick shower, you got your towel from your bag, not trusting the towels they gave you at the motel. Before you could enter the bathroom though, someone knocked on your door, making you pause. Opening the door, your breath slightly hitched when you saw Sam, his hair damp, smelling like soap and citrus.
"Oh, uh, hey– what's up?" you asked the tall male in front of you while letting him into your motel room.
"Just checking in on you... wanted to make sure you were okay," he murmured, his voice gentle as he sat down on your bed before noticing that you were holding your towel and shower products, "Oh– were you about to shower? I could leave and come back later-"
"No- no, no, no.. you're good," you smiled at him, hanging your towel on a nearby chair and the shower products on a table. You sat on the further corner of the bed, avoiding sitting near him while you were still frustrated with your current feelings for the caring dumbass who was in your room right now, smelling like fresh squeezed citrus and leather, with his hair sticking to his forehead from how damp it was.
Sam could feel that there was something wrong with you, but he wasn't sure how he should address it. Something just tugged at his chest when he saw you picking on your nails like you did in the car, being so closed off like you used to when you two first met.
"Sam, this is.." Dean introduced you to Sam about one and a half years ago, your father dying on one of the hunts you were involved in. You knew Dean from the past hunts he was in with you and your dad, and when you called him, voice hoarse and heaving he knew something was wrong. When he found out your father had died from saving you, his heart clenched, knowing that you'd be carrying this with you for your whole life, blaming yourself for his death. Dean knew you didn't have other family members present in your life, your mother abandoning you from a young age, leaving you with your father.
He understood how you felt – losing a parent to a monster- well, demon in his case, but he knew the feeling all too well. So, he took you in and you taught the ropes more thoroughly, making Sam teach you what they both knew. It was pretty easy to teach you since you already knew the basics but sometimes Sam felt like something was missing when you listened and paid attention to what he was saying.
Sam noticed how quiet and how you kept to yourself a lot and when you would start opening up, you immediately closed up like a clam. Dean explained the situation to him and Sam understood immediately what he had to do. And from that day, he tried his best to get you to get out of your shell, get you to open up and let your guard down around him. It was hard but worth it. You were worth it.
That's when Sam realized how expressive and passionate a person you were. The way you talked fondly about the things you liked, about random facts you learnt from your father and how fondly you remembered your old man. He felt special somehow, that he made you cope with the death of your father in more healthy ways than keeping emotions buried deep inside you.
"You know... I always think about how closed off you were when we first met," Sam started, not knowing where he was going with this, "you just answered me in grunts or one-word answers. It was kind of frustrating," he chuckled softly, shaking his head before looking at you. He noticed how you looked at him with a confused expression before continuing, "I just– well, I just wanted to say that it was worth it. All of it. Agreeing to teach you how to hunt better, keep you safe and get you to open up to me. It was all worth it."
He moved closer to you and took your hand into his, noticing the new wounds on your fingers. Sam sighed knowing he couldn't stop you from picking on your skin when he wasn't around, so he always carried some band-aids in his pockets. He took two out of his pocket and started gently tending to your fingers. You bit on your cheek, still not understanding why he came to your room.
Were you that obvious, or was Sam just good at reading you? It was probably the latter, you were an open book in front of him. Once he was done tending to your small but painful wounds, you squeezed his hand before looking at him and hesitating to say what you were about to say, "What- I mean, where are you going with this Sam?"
When the question was out in the air, silence followed for a minute but it felt like hours before Sam spoke, "I.. I know you have feelings for me," his voice was gentle and slightly strained.
You were that obvious, huh.
You pulled your hand away from him, feeling as if your skin burned just by being close to him right now. You shouldn't have opened the door. You could've pretended to not hear the knock and just showered. But no, you just had to let Sam in. Sometimes ignorance was really bliss. If you had just known where this conversation was leading. It could've been avoided, but now you had to sit there, your whole body sensitive and senses heightened as you felt his gaze on you. The room felt small, too small.
You couldn't breathe.
Were you really going to have a panic attack just from Sam addressing your growing feelings towards him? It was pathetic, stupid and careless. You should've just kept to yourself. Goddammit, Sam. He could've kept his mouth shut and not continued this conversation.
"Please– please get out," you managed to choke out, standing up abruptly. You couldn't deal with this right now. Not now. Not ever. Sam looked at you with a pained expression, knowing you were closing up and not letting him in. He sat there for a few more seconds before getting up, "I'll– I'll leave you alone for now. Come to our room later for dinner, okay?"
You gave him a curt nod, heading to the bathroom with your things and taking a cold shower. Even when you drowned yourself in the icy water, your whole body felt like it was grimy, sticky and hot. Every pore oozed with insecurity, embarrassment and guilt. After a while you got out, drying your wet hair with your towel and getting dressed. As much as you didn't want to confront your feelings and talk to Sam about it, you had to go to their room for food. It's been a long day and you were starving.
"–So, I had to bargain with that old Vietnamese man to give me three more tempura shrimps for five dollars," Dean was telling Sam and you about what happened when he was out for food, but you weren't paying much attention, stabbing your plastic fork on the stir-fried chicken on your plate. Your eyes stung from how much you cried in the shower, silently hoping that it wasn't obvious.
Knowing Sam, he definitely noticed, nudging your leg under the table to get your attention. You didn't bother looking up before he nudged you harder, accidentally nudging the table too and making Dean notice the tension he was oblivious to earlier.
"Okay, what is going on with you two?" His eyebrows furrowed, making Sam clench his jaw and making you tense up. You weren't ready. Not yet, you begged in your mind still looking down at your half-eaten dinner. The room felt chilly even with the long sleeves you were wearing. Dean knew about your feelings towards Sam and he teased you sometimes about it, but not around him.
The air was thick, and the lump in your throat was preventing you from speaking. Sam sat up straight, clearing his throat before answering Dean, "It's nothing, we're fine, right?"
He looked at you expectantly, even if he knew that it wasn't really okay between you two. As much as you didn't want to look up from your food and just go to your room and sleep, you looked up, glancing at Sam for a fraction of a second before looking at Dean and giving him a small nod. You got up from the table and threw your leftovers in the trash, your appetite was pretty much lost and you just couldn't bear to be around Sam right now.
"I'm going to my room," your voice thick, struggling to swallow the lump in your throat and feeling tears prick your eyes. Sam was about to stop you but before he could, you already closed the door to their room.
"You should talk to her, Sammy.. you started this shit and I don't wanna be shot in the crossfire. I told you it was a bad idea and that you should give her time to process–" Dean looked at his baby brother, drinking a beer while Sam moped on his bed.
"Do you think I don't know that, Dean? I– I just.. I don't wanna give her false hope– or whatever I'm doing.." Sam trailed off, rubbing his hand across his face out of slight frustration towards his brother. As much as he wasn't over Jess' death, he couldn't ignore your feelings towards him. It was painfully obvious and he thought it was... cute. He liked it when you smiled at him or when you clung to him. It was those small things that tugged at his chest, realizing how much he needed to be around you, protect you and want to prevent what happened to Jess from happening to you. Sam wouldn't be able to forgive himself if something like that happened to you too.
Just imagining it hurt him physically, his heart squeezing in his chest uneasily. But there he was in his shared motel room with his brother, sulking instead of talking to you. Not seeing you hyper and happy felt wrong, like taking out the sun in the middle of the day or kicking a puppy. He sighed, running his hand through his hair before getting up from his bed and earning a chuckle from Dean.
"Go get'em, Tiger," Sam grunted, flipping Dean off before leaving their room and heading to your room. He really should've thought through what he had to say to you. What happened in your room earlier seemed like he was trying to confront you–which he was–but he didn't mean it maliciously. You probably took it as a sign of rejection and felt horrible. He noticed during dinner how pink your nose was and how puffy your eyes were.
When he was about to knock on your door, you suddenly opened it, flinching slightly when you saw him standing there. Sam looked down at you, smiling awkwardly as he retracted his hand away, "I was about to knock– I mean, can we talk?"
He fumbled with his words, hoping you'd let him in and talk. However, when you stepped out of the room, it confused him and was about to ask before you cut him off, "I'm gonna go get ice.. we can talk in the car."
You grumbled, walking towards the ice machine and getting a scoop of ice into your ice pack. After you filled it up, the two of you headed to the Impala, with you sitting in the passenger seat and Sam sitting in the driver's seat. You held the ice pack on your lap, feeling the coolness of it on your trouser-covered thighs.
"Listen, about what I said in your room–" Sam darted his tongue out, licking his lips before continuing, "It's.. it's not what you think I meant. I wasn't trying to reject your feelings."
You listened as he continued explaining himself, playing with the hem of your sleeve, "I understand the way you feel, I really do, but– but I just can't risk you," he reached out for your hand hesitantly and when you didn't flinch, Sam gently took your hand into his and squeezed. He wanted you to look at him– no, he needed you to. He didn't want to admit it to himself, but he did love you in his way, he liked you in the same way you did even if he denied it to himself.
"Look at me, please," he pleaded, his voice filled with need and desperation, "I can't live with myself if you die the same way Jess did. I don't want to lose you too. You mean too much to me."
"You mean too much to me."
Those words hit harder than anything. You looked at Sam, eyes filled with unshed tears, lower lip quivering. Everything felt too surreal, it was like you were watching everything unfold from outside your body.
"I know– I know it's hard right now, and I really suck at this whole feelings stuff, but I wanna make it up to you somehow. I wanna make it work between us, and we'll make it work.. but not right now. I promise we'll work through this together and figure it out in the future-" he wiped a few stray tears with his thumb, his hand cupping your face.
"I just wanna see you smile for me again. I don't want to be the reason you cry or be the reason you're upset," he whispered as you sniffled, still not saying a word and letting him talk his heart out. You were crying while being held by the person you've liked for the past seven months. It felt like a dream to you. All this time you thought Sam wouldn't gain feelings for you and here he was telling you that he wanted to work it out in the future and wanting to be the reason you smiled.
You cleared your throat slightly, moving your hand from the ice pack and onto his hand, making him flinch from how cold your palm was, making you giggle groggily, "You can make it up to me by pranking Dean."
"Deal," he smiled and kissed your forehead, wiping the rest of your tears away.
The next morning, Sam and you went to get some breakfast, deciding that waffles and coffee would be a good choice to eat. The two of you came back snickering when you saw a fuming Dean in the car, unable to move his hands from the wheel. You decided that it was a good idea to put some superglue on the steering wheel. Sam knew that Dean would catch on quickly after, so you two decided to get breakfast first.
"You two are so dead!" He grunted before giving up on trying to get himself free. You got into the passenger seat and Sam went into the back, fist-bumping you, "I liked it better when you two didn't get along," Dean muttered before driving and letting you handle the gearstick while he drove.

Light glided up and down the pillar in the centre of the console, moving at a regular pace, an indicator that you were adrift in space. There was a steady rumble in the air, the ships engine on auto. The Doctor was rambling, you weren’t sure what about as you had zoned out many minutes prior. But he was exited. Maybe it was your next trip? Or a new planet? Perhaps he’d found an ancient artefact and wanted to dissect it. Either way, you hadn’t been paying any attention. Your eyes were fixated on the metallic floor, brain going at a thousand miles per hour.
“-don’t you both agree?” The Doctors voice slowly filtered back into your head. Blinking a few times, you looked up, trying not to make your confusion obvious.
“Oh yeah of course. That was the best option, right (y/n)?” The Master looked over at you from her seat by the console, her face unreadable.
“R-right. Yeah.” You said unconvincingly, playing with your fingers. She raised her brows, looking you up and down as if to scan you. You just averted your eyes.
“Good. Good. So, I’ll drop you back off at home, (y/n)? Or should I wait till after you’ve slept?” The Doctor asked, smiling at you warmly. Your heart sunk a little at the idea, time was not on your side at all.
“After I’ve slept. If that’s alright?”
“Of course it is. You go and rest okay?” He grinned, patting your shoulder affectionately. You gave him a tight lipped smile, turning and heading up the steps, to find your room. Thankfully, the tardis had moved it closer for you. Once inside, you sat yourself on the plush bed and put your head in your hands. With your anxiety through the roof, you let out a shallow breath and gripped the roots of your hair hard. You really didn’t want to go, didn’t want to force yourself to act a certain way, just to appease your family. If you thought too hard, you knew you’d get overly emotionally and tried to regulate your mind. It was one day. You could survive one day. Right? Out of nowhere, hands landed on your own, carefully pulling them away from your head.
“Are you trying to pull your hair out?” The Master sounded both concerned and amused, looking down at you. Not having heard her come in, you gaped at her for a moment. She ran her fingers through your hair, straightening it out. “What’s wrong?” Her question caught you even more off guard, forcing you to smile.
“Nothing.” She just looked at you with a straight face, clearly seeing past your lie.
“You’ve been out of it all week. You nearly got lost yesterday because you weren’t listening to us.” The Master started, taking a seat beside you. “And I know The Doctor loves to chat, but you always listen. You’re always engaged. You’re far too nice not to be. So what’s wrong?” Knowing you had been caught out, you stared down at your lap in defeat.
“It’s stupid.” You muttered, thinking that the Timelady would just laugh at your woes.
“That’s for me to decide.” She replied, golden eyes never leaving you. Slowly, you turned yourself to face her, sitting criss-cross and occupying yourself with a loose thread on your navy sheets.
“I have to go to my cousins wedding when I go home.” You begun, nail catching the thread right to pull it out.
“Right? So what’s the issue?” The Master pressed, observing your body language.
“We don’t get along. At all. It’s complicated.”
“I see. If you don’t get on, why are you going?”
“I’m in the bridal party. Her mum, my auntie, practically forced her to put me as a bridesmaid.” You explained, straightening your back and looking at the blonde once again. “She’s really difficult to deal with. And really old fashioned. She even tried to force me to wear a really ugly dress but I fought her on that.”
“Have you tried hitting her?” The Masters question made you giggle, shaking your head. “It might work.”
“Yeah I’ll keep that in mind.” You said, rolling your eyes playfully.
“Can’t you take someone with you?” The Master asked, trying to bring light to your situation. You just groaned, flopping back against your pillows.
“That’s the problem. I can bring a plus one, I just don’t have anyone.”
“Why not take your precious Doctor. You know he loves a wedding.” She grumbled pointedly.
“First of all, he’s not ‘my’ Doctor. Secondly, no. He’s far too boisterous, would cause more issues.” Your voice grew quiet, closing your eyes and being saddened by the situation. Raising from spot, The Master walked around the bed and sat on the free side. She leant closer to you, admiring your features silently.
“What about me?” You shot up, peering at her a bit baffled.
“What about you?”
“Well. I’ll go with you.” She said calmly, as if it was easy. As if it were a normal thing for a woman like her to do.
“You’d go? To a human wedding?”
“Why not?” She almost seemed offended, putting her hands behind her head.
“Humans?” You chortled, shocked at her laid back approach to it.
“I don’t care about them. I’d be going to keep you company.” The Master propped up the pillows behind her, sitting back comfortably. Preying that your cheeks were staying their natural colour, you glanced at her again.
“You’ll dress up?”
“Come now, you know I love to do that.” Okay, she had a point there.
“You’ll follow the time schedule?”
“Just tell me what I need to do and I’ll do it.” The Master turned her head to look at you with a smile. Now you were blushing, swallowing hard.
“You’d have to go in alone, because I’m in the bridal party. So you’d have to get ready and find your seat without me.” You told her, settling down once again. She hummed and nod, lying on her side to face you.
“That’s fine.”
“Really? You’ll go with me?” You were unsure, thinking maybe she was just pulling your leg. The woman reached across, brushing your hair behind your shoulder.
“Of course I will.” She tapped your nose softly, earning a bashful smile from you in return. “So tell me, what’s the theme sweetheart?” Her hand caressed your cheek, your breath catching slightly. The Master had always been touchy with you, and it was no secret that you loved it. At home, you had always felt touch-starved, coming from a more private family. From people who kept themselves to themselves, and their emotions under lock and key.
“Hm? Winter wonderland.” You said, gazing up at her happily. “I think she’s having it in a country manor. From the pictures, everything was white and covered in fake snow.”
“Sounds tacky.” The Master muttered, thumb rolling over the apple of your cheek slowly. Your skin went warm beneath her touch.
“The inside looks nice, it’s really old. If you ignore the plastic winter creatures she’s going to put up.” You both laughed.
“Dress code?” She then asked, remembering what you said earlier.
“Obviously it’s evening wear. Suits, dresses, whatever you feel comfortable in.” You let yourself consider the woman next to you. “It’s winter colours. So reds? Maroon? Plum? You’d look pretty in plum…” you trailed off, thinking out loud. She smirked, noticing your mind slipping elsewhere. Gripping your chin between her finger and thumb, she brought your attention back to her.
“Oh? Would I now?” Her smug tone made you realise what you had just said, your eyes growing wider. “Are you flirting with me, love?” The Master chuckled, leaning inanely close to your face. Panicking slightly, you scooted away and got up off the bed. She looked at you bemused.
“N-no of course not.” You looked down at the carpet, scared of the disgust that would be sent your way if she thought you were. “I wouldn’t..don’t worry.” The Master just looked at you with pure confusion, sitting herself upright.
“You know it’s okay if you were right?” She reassured. You just nod, grabbing your nightwear and heading into the bathroom to change.
———
You had given The Master all the information she needed. Time. Date. Place. Everything she needed to know. You were half convinced she wouldn’t even show up, but held out hope regardless. Once The Doctor had dropped you home, you gathered everything you would need and called a cab.
The manor was indeed already decorated, fitted with fake holly along all of the windows. Pine trees lined the drive in, the ground covered with white stones. Lifting your duffle bag, you walked inside and up into the bridal suite. You knocked, a younger blonde woman letting you in. You recognised her to be your cousins long time friend.
“Oh there you are. Hurry up and get dressed.” Your cousin, Beth, hardly looked at you, motioning to a door at the back of the room. She was in the middle of having her long, mouse-brown hair curled. Doing as you were told, you stepped into the lavish bathroom, admiring the floral wallpaper. Carefully, you pulled out your dress and stepped into it. The deep red satin fit you perfectly, the zip easy to fasten. With off the shoulder sleeves, the front having a v-cut neckline. There were lace details lining the long dress, the satin material flowing down your body perfectly. Even with a slit up the left thigh, the dress was classy and sweet. After fastening your heels, you left the bathroom. Beth turned, jaw clenching as she saw you.
“Sit. You need your hair done.” Her voice was dry, the lady doing her makeup having to stop momentarily. Sitting yourself down, you chose a simple style and let the worker do your hair. Everyone was chatting, a clear excitement floating around the room. You didn’t know any of them, only your cousin who was ignoring your presence. Already, you felt so out of place, sitting in silence whilst your face was made up.
“You look really pretty.” The lady applying your lipstick spoke quietly, your eyes growing in surprise. You smiled at her,
“Thank you.” Your voice was low, but clearly showed your emotions. Beth stood, two friends helping her into the oversized gown she called a wedding dress. Another bridesmaid handed her a bouquet of bright red roses, a stark contrast to all the white, but matching her lips. You were handed a bunch of poinsettia, tied with white ribbon.
“Don’t slouch or anything, (y/n). I don’t need you ruining the aesthetic.” Beth drawled, allowing someone to clip her veil in. You said nothing, just watching her and waiting. You knew eventually it would start, the insults and jabs. “Then again, you’re looking a little peaky. Lost weight?” The girls all laughed, apart from the stylists that was. Your hands moved to cover your middle self consciously.
“Maybe?” You mumbled, trying not to show any effect. Beth giggled patronisingly, making her way over to you. She looked you up and down with disgust, sucking on her teeth slight.
“I’d say just sit still and look pretty, but you can’t even do that.” Again, her little tribe began to laugh, as you stood there with shame. From the corner of your eye, you could see the make up artist looking at you with pity. Just then, your auntie burst into the room, a big smile on her face as she rushed to her daughter. You could hear her saying how beautiful she looked and had an internal conflict. It wasn’t your aunts fault, she didn’t know how Beth acted towards you. Still, it annoyed you.
“Oh and (y/n) don’t you look nice. I’m happy you’re here.” Your aunt gave you a quick hug before checking a message on her phone. “Twenty minutes people. Shall we head down and wait in the lounge?” She ushered everyone down the stairs, through some double doors and into a well decorated room. There were three couches and two chairs, all black velvet. Taking one of the chairs, you pulled out your phone, seeing that The Doctor had been spamming you with wedding themed gifs. You just scoffed to yourself, scrolling through them. Then your phone pinged, The Master.
Master: though I don’t like this stupid human technology, I’m going to use it for your sake. How is everything this morning?
Even her texts were formal, you thought whilst quickly typing a reply.
Me: stressful but fine. Just waiting for the groom I think. Are you here?
Master: of course I am. Right at the back of the hall. There’s an old man next to me. I don’t like him.
Me: what why?
Master: he smells like an old shoe cupboard. I’m thinking of spraying him with my perfume.
Smiling to yourself, you shook your head as your thumbs moved across the keypad.
Me: let’s not. I’m sure you can cope for an hour.
Master: an hour?! No, I think I may have to douse him in the stuff.
Me: as funny as that would be, please don’t.
Master: very well. The things I do for you, right sweetheart?
Her message made your cheeks grow red, your lip catching between your teeth.
Me: I am your favourite, right?
After the previous night, the way she had responded to your accidental flirting, you decided to test the waters. Just to see if she’d play along or be put off by it.
Master: but of course my dear, why else would I surround myself with silly little humans.
Your smile grew embarrassingly large, watching the small bubbles on screen. Who knew The Master could be so charming?
Master: besides, you don’t smell.
Me: that’s good to know.
Master: why do the women here wear such odd hats?
Me: it’s British wedding attire, they’re called fascinators. I don’t get it either
Master: they’re bigger than them. And so brightly coloured. Why do they have such big feathers and round things on them?
You couldn’t help but laugh to yourself, a hand coming to cover your mouth.
Me: sounds like you’re having fun, judging everyone.
Master: well, you’re not here so how else can I entertain myself.
Me: you make me sound like a toy.
Master: not at all, sweetheart. I merely enjoy your company, is that such a crime?
Again, you were blushing, staring at the black text dumbly. How could she have such an impact on you, when she wasn’t even with you.
“Who you texting, (y/n)? Your boyfriend?” One girl jeered, the entourage cackling in unison. You peered over at them, your mood souring in a second.
“Don’t be silly, as if anyone would ever date that.” Beth taunted, earning more laughs from her minions. Hastily, you put your phone into your bag, sitting yourself straighter. Seeing the time, Beth made everyone stand heading towards the doors. Giving you one last glare, she muttered “don’t walk too fast, your scrawny legs might snap.” With a sickening smile, she stood by her father and linked his arm. He was always a silent man, he saw his daughter’s behaviour but never cared. You got in line, holding the flowers so tight you thought their stems might break. Alas, they did not and you followed the other bridesmaids down the aisle, classical music guiding everyone along. You stood in formation, listening to the exchange of vows doing your best to keep a smile plastered on your face. It seemed to go on for hours, their self-made vows boring you half to death. Eventually, they said ‘I do’ and sealed their marriage with a far too long kiss, walking back down the aisle hand in hand.
———
Your aunt and uncle stood with you, waiting by a set of white French doors, for the happy couple to come along. It was freezing outside, but you three were forced to endure the November wind. All the guests were inside the main hall, being shown to their seats and allowed to get drinks.
“Oh my love!” Your aunt sounded happy, hugging the newly weds. You said nothing, just following your family inside when they were announced. Beth was making a scene for herself, waving at the crowd as if she were a celebrity. Rolling your eyes, you checked the list for your table number. Of course, you were with your family, on the main round table in the centre of the room. You spotted that your ‘plus one’ assigned the seat next to you, thankfully. Beth passed you, her hip budging you harder than needed. You stumbled to the side, allowing the taller to gaze at her guest list, as if she needed to.
“Don’t rush, you won’t be missed.” She spat, walking off without a care. Even though you’d always been treated that way from her, it made your chest hurt. You were growing tired of it. A hand landed on your shoulder, making you turn on the spot. You instantly relaxed, seeing The Master. She was looking you over with worry, a scowl on her features.
“I’ve been looking for you, did she really make you wait? Just so she could make that lacklustre entrance?” She scoffed, shaking her head. However, you found yourself thoroughly distracted, her appearance shocking you. Her usually straight hair had a slight curl to it, done with precision. She wore a crimson suit, with wide-leg pants and blazer sleeves turned up twice. Her shirt, crisp and white, was fastened with a loose red tie. More to the point, her lips were tainted like a candy apple, tempting you cruelly. “Love?” She trailed her hand down your arm, brining you out of your trance.
“S-sorry, what?” You stuttered, blinking quickly. The Master smirked, stepping closer and letting her eyes wander over your figure.
“Wow, look at you.” She grinned not shy about admiring you. You averted your eyes, looking to the side to escape her vision.
“Beautiful.”
“Awful-“ you both spoke at the same time, coming to look at each other with surprise. The Master frowned, tilting her head a little.
“What?” She half laughed, looking you over once more. “Awful? How can you possibly think that? You look gorgeous.” Her manicured hand cupped your cheek, lips curling up. You blushed, leaning into her touch naturally.
“I don’t agree, but thank you.” You mumbled, causing the woman to raise her brows.
“Would I lie to you?” She asked.
“Well, no but-“
“Exactly, you look devine. And I’ll give hell to anyone who says otherwise. Okay sweetheart?” The Master finally made you smile, nodding your head shyly. “Let’s find our seats shall we, I’m parched.”
After finding your seats, The Master looked around the room with a judging gaze.
“Everyone’s so…chirpy.”
“I think you mean, happy?” You laughed, facing her properly. She just rolled her eyes, leaning back on the mahogany seat and resting her hand on the top of your chair. For a moment, The Master just looked at you, her eyes softer than normal.
“What? What is it?” You felt small, like an ant compared to her. She exuded confidence and poise, making even the toughest men tremble. It was one of the things that drew you to her, her almost protective aura.
“I’m just admiring you, love.” She murmured, moving to twirl the front strand of your hair. Your face felt hot suddenly. “I like your hair, and your make up, it looks good.” The Master continued, not helping your racing heart at all.
“A stylist did it.” Was all you could get out, unsure of how to react to her compliments.
“Well, they did an amazing job. It’s hard to make perfection more perfect.” Your hands came up, covering your face in an instant. How could she say something like that so casually? She chuckled, stroking the back of your head.
“You can’t just say that.” You whined, peeking out at her.
“What? The truth? Of course I can, in fact, it’s very easy.” The Master grinned, giving you a cheeky wink. You just laughed, hitting her arm playfully. “I’ll go and get us a drink, okay love?” You bobbed your head, watching her leave your side and head across the room. A witch-like laughter drew closer, almost making you wince. It was Beth, and her poor husband, taking their seats two down from you. Her voice was loud and obnoxious, like nails on a chalkboard. She was boasting about her big day, clinging to her partners arm as if he’d vanish. Though, you wouldn’t blame him if he did.
“Enjoying your afternoon alone?” Beth asked, leaning over to you with a false smile. Ignoring her, you looked back into the crowd for The Master. “It’s a shame you didn’t go with the dress I picked for you. It would have given you a figure.” She said, grimacing as she looked at you. Sighing, you faced her with a blank expression. Beth put her hands up in defence.
“Look, I’m just saying. You look like a twig. That dress would have given you hips.” She exasperated.
“It was poofy and ridiculous. Plus, it was bright, bright red. I would have looked stupid.” You huffed pointedly.
“You don’t need any help there.” Beth spoke under her breath, crossing her leg and leering at you. “I think you look stupid in that dress if I’m honest. Why wear low cut when you have no tits to show off?” She laughed, pointing at you as if you weren’t there. A lump formed in your throat, crossing your arms over your chest. “(Y/n) you look like a little boy. I’m not trying to be rude, it’s just facts. You should really gain weight if you ever want a boyfriend.” She chastised, her faux advice hitting you twice in the gut. Swallowing thickly, you dipped your head, gripping the fabric of your dress. “I’m assuming you came alone? Dumb question actually, of course you d-“ Beth paused, surprise taking over. Behind you, you felt the presence of someone sitting down.
“Here’s your drink.” The Master said, paying no mind to your cousin. It felt as though your lips were glued shut. The atmosphere was tense, the blonde beside you finally looking at Beth.
“Sorry, you are?”
“You can just call me, O.” The Master shook her hand firmly, the other scoffing a laugh.
“O? That’s a name?”
“Well obviously not, it’s a nickname. But it’s all you need to know.” Beth was taken aback by The Masters blunt attitude, but you didn’t care.
“Right. And how do you know (y/n)?”
“We worked together…” You answered, having already thought about it earlier. You’d known you had to be well prepared, couldn’t go around telling people she was an alien.
“Oh in your stupid little science job?” Beth sipped at her wine, the drink staining her top lip. You inhaled deeply, relived when Beth turned her attention to her friends. Blinking fast, you flinched when The Master placed a hand on your shoulder. Looking at her, you found her seemingly annoyed.
“Does she always talk to you like that?” She questioned, but you couldn’t respond. She hadn’t heard everything and you didn’t want to fuss over nothing. Your silence worried her. The Master brought you to face her, tucking your hair behind your ear.
“That’s a yes then. Ignore her, she looks like a pastry.” That comment made you laugh, picking up your fruity drink. Shuffling your chair closer, you gazed up at her sadly.
“You can distract me right?” Your voice was pouty, eyes glossed over. The Master felt her breath hitch, your innocent face doing things to her. She caressed your cheek lovingly.
“Of course, come here.” You didn’t need to be told twice, allowing her to wrap an arm around you and pull you back into her chest. With your back resting against her front, The Master let her arm hold around your waist, landing on your hip. Remembering your cousins words, you carefully moved her hand off of your hip-bone. The Master noticed immediately, looking down at you confused. Closing your eyes, you let out a breath and let your head fall back onto her shoulder.
“I’m glad you’re here, I don’t think I’d cope without you.” You mumbled, wetting your lips.
“You flatter me, love.” The Master sipped her short, “I’m not going anywhere don’t you worry.” She assured you, your eyes opening and looking right at her. You smiled shyly, not minding as her hand returned to its original spot. Drawing shapes on your hip, The Masters hazel eyes flickered down to your lips, just for a second before moving away.
“Will there be food?”
“Yeah look.” You reached forward, picking up a card from the middle of the table, then sitting back again. The Master took it from you, reading over the menu with a pleased hum.
“Sounds okay I suppose. I am quite peckish.” She spoke absentmindedly, eyes wandering around the room. Clearly, she was back to judging the guests again. It was funny to watch, the emotions on her face constantly changing. “Oh lord, that man is coming over.” Remembering her texts, you watched as an older gentleman waddled past and to the bride. You covered your mouth, tilting your head back and whispering.
“That’s her great uncle.” The Master made a small noise of recognition, her lips moving by your ear.
“That explains the smell.” You both laughed quietly, unaware of being watched.
———
After an hour of people mingling, everyone was made to sit and get ready for the food. The Master unfolded your cloth napkin, placing it over your lap neatly.
“How chivalrous.” You giggled, watching her do her own.
“I do try, love.” She may have been joking, but you had butterflies in your stomach regardless. Appetisers were placed in front of you, a trio of dips with different crudité and breads for dunking. Along side this was a small bowl of soup. It was a vibrant orange colour. Picking up your spoon, you tried some, soon pulling a face of disgust.
“Not to your taste?” The Master chortled, eating hers normally.
“I hate lentils.” You told her, moving the bowl aside and dipping the cucumber into some hummus. It was a light start to the meal, not that you minded. Thankfully, your auntie was talking to you now, telling you all about her life in retirement. You hardly noticed everything get cleared and the fresh cutlery get put down. The waiters went around putting the mains out, a seasonal roast. Who doesn’t love that? There were roasted rainbow carrots, large sprouts and parsnips. Along with the stuffing and crispy potato’s, there were two cuts of meat to choose from. After asking you, The Master put some on your plate before her own then sat back.
“Why do you keep looking at me like that?” She turned to you with a hint of amusement.
“Like what?”
“All soppy, every time I do something for you.” Her gaze softened as she looked at you, a genuine smile on her lips.
“Because I appreciate it.” You said simply, eating a small bite of your food. She beamed, giving your hand a small squeeze before turning to her own meal. The room was fairly quiet as people ate, apart from Beth of course. She was still going on with herself. Even her man looked tired of the constant word vomit. When finished, The Master leant over, her lips brushing your ear as she spoke.
“What happens now?” You shivered at the close proximity.
“Well i think they’re going to do speeches before dessert. Then I assume there will be dancing?” She nod at you, sitting back again. The plates were cleaned hastily, the room picking up again.
“So, O, how long have you known (y/n)?” Your aunt smiled at the blonde, but there was a sour feeling behind it.
“Over a year, we work together.” The Master lied, repeating what you had said earlier.
“Oh that’s lovely, we were just talking about their childhood.” She practically disregarded her, hands clasping together. You pressed your lips into a fine line, not having the best memories of your youth. “When they were little, they used to fight all the time. It was adorable.” Your auntie laughed, reminiscing happily. Beth looked over at you, smiling fakly. They were less than joyous memories, every family event was hell on earth. “They’ve always just been so different. Has (y/n) told you that Beth was a Pageant queen in London?” Your aunt gloated. The Master glanced at you before shaking her head. You rubbed at your face tiredly.
“She certainly hadn’t.”
“Oh yes! She won three years in a row. Oh I was so proud.” Beth grinned at her mother’s praise, still held up on her beauty queen title. “What was it you won, (y/n)? Best young uh…uhm…”
“It was just a junior writers competition.” You said quietly, head bowed in embarrassment. Beth snorted out a laugh, your chest tightening in shame.
“Oh yes that was it! You got your story published.”
“You did? That’s amazing.” The Master wrapped an arm around your shoulders, trying to bring you some comfort. You just scoffed.
“No it’s not.” Your voice was hardly above a whisper.
“She had one of those emo phases too. Oh they looked so silly next to each other. My Beth was in pink and (y/n) was all in black.” Both your Aunt and Beth were laughing, as you shrunk in on yourself.
“And remember when you had purple hair?” Beth jabbed, giggling into her hand. The Master kept her attention on you, rubbing your arm tenderly. Just when you thought that maybe she’d finished, Beth let out an excitable gasp. “You know what was the funniest phase you had?” You looked at her confused, unsure of where she was going with it. “That time you said you liked girls!” She cackled and you felt your heart drop. Your lips parted, mouth going dry instantly. “Don’t you remember mum?” Beth asked.
“Of course I do, that was a wild day. But she was just confused. Weren’t you dear? We don’t want to scare off your colleague.” Your aunt smiled at you, but you could see the unease in her eyes. Swallowing thickly, you nod slowly.
“I’m glad you’re not one of those at least. Disgusting.” Beth shivered as if repulsed, picking up her wine glass again.
“Yeah, thank god.” Your eyes started to sting with unshed tears, so you stood carefully and excused yourself. The master watched you make your exit, head shooting around to your cousin. She would have shot them, but knew you wouldn’t approve.
Icy winter air hit you as you stepped outside. You leant against the jagged brick wall, head falling back on it as you stared up at the darkening sky. Even though you tried, you couldn’t stop the tears from rolling down your cheeks. Everything was ruined now, she knew your dirty little secret. A part of you that you hid from everyone, including yourself. Sliding down the wall, you balled up your fists, hitting your head a few times as your breathing increased in pace. You should never have come. You could hear the door opening, heels clicking as they came closer. Something pressed to your side but you didn’t look, not even when a hand came to land on your knee.
“(Y/n)..?” The Master spoke gently, as if worried she’d scare you. Not responding, she thumbed your cold skin softly, letting you have a moment. Brining your head forward, you inhaled weakly.
“I’m sorry.” You mumbled, wiping under your eyes harshly.
“Look at me, (y/n).” The Master ordered with an authoritative timbre. Nervously, you looked up at the blonde with watery eyes. She frowned, tilting your chin towards her and letting out a breath.
“Why are you sorry?”
“Because you’re going to think I’m disgusting.” You stuttered, sniffling and avoiding her intense, hazel eyes.
“What? What are you talking about?” She sounded puzzled, stroking your hair gingerly.
“Because of what she said-“
“Your cousin?” You nod at her, more tears seeping out the corner of your eyes. Seeing the distress you were in, The Master didn’t say another word. Instead, she pulled you into her warm embrace, arms encasing you protectively. You buried your face into the crook of her neck, deciding to worry about the repercussions later.
“Darling you have nothing to be sorry for.” She said sternly, running her fingers through your hair. “I know you said you didn’t get along. But you should told me how bad it was.”
“I didn’t want you to think I was being dramatic.” You admitted, nuzzling closer to her.
“Dramatic? They’re narcissistic, homophobic, pretentious assholes.” The Master spat, nails scratching against your scalp nicely. You gazed up at her.
“You don’t care?”
“About what?” She asked bemused, wiping your cheeks dry with faint movements.
“That I..like girls…” you struggled to get the words out, having an internal battle with yourself. The Master chuckled, holding your cheek tenderly.
“Sweetheart, I’ve been flirting with you for the past eighteen months. If anything, I’m happy.” Heat rose on your face, eyes widening.
“You have?” Your surprise made the woman laugh harder.
“Oh you’re cute. This is why you’re my favourite.” She simpered, twirling your hair. “Of course I have. And I’ve enjoyed every second of making you all red and flustered. It’s my favourite hobby.” Your heart was racing again, unable to take your eyes off of her. With a hum, she helped you to your feet, brushing off your dress.
“Thank you.” You smiled, making sure there was no dirt on your behind. You could still hear the party, a glass being clinked for attention. “They must be doing the speeches.” You commented, looking down and scuffing your heel against the stones. The dress slipped from your thigh, the slit leaving your leg out in the elements.
“I’m assuming we won’t miss much?”
“No. Just a bunch of ‘me me me’ coming from the bride and everyone boosting her ego.” You said, lip jutting out. The Master, ever confident, leant in close, her breath fanning your face.
“You taunt me, (y/n).” She spoke lowly, causing you to gulp.
“I do?” You asked, trying desperately not to look at her lips.
“You know you do. With your big, sad eyes and pouty lips.” Her thumb ran just under your bottom lip, causing them to part on instinct. “And this dress, leaving very little to the imagination.” Using her pointer finger, she traced the dip in the neckline. Goosebumps rose under her touch, your lip tucking between your teeth. She looked into your eyes smirking, her other hand slipping down your body to hold your hip.
“Tell me what else she’s said tonight.” The Master almost demanded, “because I know there’s more that you haven’t told me.”
“Promise me you won’t kill her?” You gave her your best puppy eyes, earning a reluctant nod. So, with a deep breath, you told her every insult that had been sent your way that day. With everything you said, you saw her temper rising, her hand tightened on your hip.
Her jaw was clenched,nostrils flaring slightly.
“Are you serious?” She spoke through gritted teeth, eyeing the door like a target.
“It’s fine-“
“It not fine, (y/n). She’s your family! It’s verbal abuse!” The Master was enraged, hand slipping into her pocket. “I don’t care, I’m going to turn her into a tiny doll, and stand on her until she’s just plastic dus-“ Thinking on the spot, your latched onto The Masters tie, yanking her forward and crashing your lips together. Dropping her TCE back into her blazer, she kissed back with fervour, holding your waist tightly. You wound your arms around her neck, drawing back a little.
“It’s fine. After tonight I’m not going to contact them for as long as possible.” You mumbled, happy that your spur of the moment decision had worked. The Master rested her forehead against your own, holding your cheek feebly. Loud clapping came from inside but you both paid no mind, occupied with each other.
“I hope you don’t mind me kissing you, just to take your mind off of killing people.” You said quickly, just in case you’d read the situation wrong, and she was only flirting with you for her own entertainment.
“Hm, I didn’t mind at all.” She said lowly, eyes dropping not so subtly. “But maybe I need you to distract me some more?” The Master suggested, voice dropping an octave. You smiled brightly, pressing your lips to hers once again. Her lips moved against yours flawlessly, hand snaking down your thigh and squeezing your soft flesh. Your hand found her nape, pulling her against your body, so she had you pinned to the wall. The Master almost growled, nipping on your bottom lip till they parted, your tongues pressing together. You moaned into the kiss, a hand sliding into her blazer and holding onto her waist. Your mind became hazy, consumed only by her. The Master revelled in the sounds you made, proud knowing it was because of her. You didn’t want it to end, chasing her lips as she pulled away. Pecking your lips a couple more times, The Master looked down at you simpering.
“I say, we go back in there hand in hand, get some cake. Have a dance, who cares about your stupid family? Then we leave and get you the hell away from them.” Liking her idea, you nod gleefully and placed your fingers together. “And if she says anything, I can’t promise I’ll be nice.” The Master told you straight, but you just leant up and kissed her cheek.
“I don’t care.”
———
Thankfully, the speeches were finished when you walked back into the room. On the stage, Beth was cutting the cake, cheering at a pitch far too high. The Master made sure your chairs were touching before sitting down, keeping an arm around your waist.
“I hope it’s chocolate.” You said absentmindedly, noticing people getting their dessert.
“If not, I’ll get you some later.” The Master was quick to say, making you smile.
“You’re so attentive.”
“Have you only just noticed?” She feigned offence, you just laughing and shook your head. Beth returned to the table, giving a slice to her mother and father. A waiter came around for the rest of the guests, making sure everyone got a piece. It was a pretty slice of cake, with white icing and red berries on the top. You were overjoyed to find it was a Black Forest cake. Excited, you tried some of the icing and felt your eyes light up.
“Be careful (y/n). Your emaciated body might shrivel up from all that sugar.” Beth said in a baby voice, pulling an overly cutesy face to add insult to injury. Clicking her tongue, The Master picked up her spoon.
“Jealousy is a nasty disease, Beth. I hope you get better soon.” Her false sympathy almost made you laugh, but you held it together. She sat there shocked, brows knitting together.
“As if I’d be jealous of that. I dont want to look like a boy!”
“And yet.” She begun, casting her eyes over to your cousin. “She’s more feminine than you’ll ever be. Especially with that attitude.” The Master ate some of her cake, tapping the spoon against her lips.
“Excuse me! You’re at my wedding!” Beth screeched, a few people looking over but not really noticing much amiss.
“Hm, you must be so sad that you got outdone on your special day.” The Master taunted, lip turning up as she could see red flashing up on the bride. Beth slammed her fist on the table, a few of the drinks sloshing over.
“I did not get outdone by that bony little skank!” You stopped mid bite, turning to her clearly hurt. Feeling you tense up, The Masters eyes went cold.
“Say that again.” She seethed, looking at the brunette with pure malice. “I dare you.” Beth shrunk back under her icy gaze, jaw trembling slightly as she went back to her own cake. Frowning, you turned your back to your supposed family.
“I can’t wait till we leave.” You murmured, checking the time on your phone. “But I wanna dance with you first.” The idea brought a smile back to your face, digging back into your food. The Master chuckled, watching as your lips wrapped around the spoon almost criminally.
“Yeah…” Her voice trailed off. You looked up at her and she almost groaned but swallowed it down.
“You’re going to kill me sweetheart.”
“I thought that was your job?” You giggled, pushing the now empty bowl away. Giving you a simple smile, The Master got distract by your aunt who had just sat down.
“You two missed the speeches! It’s a shame. They were lovely.” Clearly, she was slightly intoxicated now.
“I’m sure they were.” The master was hardly audible.
“You two are sat really close. Almost on top of each other?” Ignoring the drunk woman, you suddenly remembered something and let out a small gasp. Moving her fingers along your side, The Master looked down at you.
“Is everything alright?”
“I forgot, I kinda have a room here tonight. You know because I’m in the bridal party?” You explained. Blinking at you, she hummed in thought.
“Do you have to stay?”
“Well I suppose not, but it’s a lovely building and it would be a shame not to.” Glimpsing at her, you smiled and rested your head on her shoulder. “You’re my ‘plus one’ remember. Meaning it’s your room too.” That made the timelady grin, brushing your hair back tenderly.
“Then I guess that’s not so bad, but I wasn’t aware of this. I don’t have anything with me?” Pressing your cheek to her blazer, you shrugged with a vivacious smile.
“We can share don’t worry.”
“Oh? Aren’t you sweet.” The Master chuckled, stroking your cheek with the back of her hand. To your right, a noise of distaste could be heard very clearly.
“What are you doing?” Beth asked as if you had broken some sort of law. The Master looked at her, the girl moving back a bit.
“Talking?”
“Not that! That!” Beth waved her hands frantically, motioning to how The Master was holding you. There was a gaping pit in the bottom of your stomach, knowing it could only end badly.
“It’s called physical contact and affection. I know you must not get any, judging by the state of your husband.” The Master nod to the man by the bar, swaying from side to side. Beth looked too, cheeks puffing out sheepishly.
“Of course I do!”
“You seem very insecure about it.” The Master commented, bringing your head to rest on her again. It was as if she could sense your unease.
“I get all the affection I need, from my husband! My man! You two are just being weird!” Beth shrieked. To anyone else, it would seem like you were committing murder. Her over the top reactions were making people talk.
“May-haps you tell us why?” The Master was clearly bored.
“Because you’re both girls! Look at yourselves!” And you did, you both looked at each other with confusion. However, The Master simpered, allowing you to adjust and lean back against her chest. You stared at your cousin emotionlessly, letting out a breath as The Master put her hand on your bare thigh.
“Right?”
“Your point?” You both said at the same time, only causing more agitation from the bridezilla.
“It’s not natural! Not normal!” Beth preached.
“The only thing unnatural around here is you.” The Master shot back. “You should really get a refund from all those doctors.” You covered your mouth quickly, holding your laughter. Beth sat there with her mouth agape, staring dumbly. The Master just smirked, leaning down and pressing her lips to the side of your head. Your aunt, who had been watching the whole time, put her Prosecco down sloppily.
“You just kissed her.” She slurred, eyes narrowing in your direction. The Master just scoffed.
“That, was not a kiss.” She said, cupping your cheek and making you face her. You blushed as her lips met yours, kissing back shyly. The kiss was longer than necessary, not that you were complaining, but you felt the discomfort around you. When she pulled back, The Master smiled and looked at your aunt smugly.
“That was a kiss.” She bragged, standing and pulling you with her. “Now, if you’ll excuse us. We’re going to dance.”
“Together?” Your aunt still questioned somehow.
“Are you mentally slow?” The Master spat, sliding her hand back around your waist. They just stared. Rolling her eyes, the blonde clicked her tongue in anger.
“Yeah, exactly. You’re old and loveless, stuck with a husband who won’t even speak to you, and a daughter you live through vicariously. And even that disappoints you.” The Master was toying with fire, throwing everything back at your aunt, the same way you’d always been treated. “Don’t look at us, like we’re the ones doing something wrong. As if you haven’t been using her as your personal punching bag. I’d count yourselves lucky that she even came, that she’s even staying. And, after tonight, don’t bet on ever seeing her again.” She spat, taking you away from them and onto the dance floor.
———
The room was as luxurious as expected, neat and pristine. There was a large king-sized bed in the middle, with fresh white, linen sheets and a dark throw folded neatly at the bottom. With two mahogany tables on either side, one had a copper lamp, the other a bowl of mints and a phone for reception. On the left wall, there was a large window, with cream drapes and wooden shutters. On the right, a wardrobe and dressing table, matching to the rest of the maroon wood-work. Opposite the bed there was a large tv hung on the wall, a door next to it which lead to a bathroom. Your bags had been taken there, courtesy of the hotel staff.
“This is nice, you were right.” The Master nod, walking around and looking at the paintings dotted about. Crouching by your bag, you pulled out your pyjamas, plus a spare vest then walked over to her.
“Here, you can wear these.” You handed her the black plaid, loose pyjama pants along with a grey vest. She took them gratefully.
“Thanks love. Mind if I take the bathroom?” Once you had shook your head, she gave your nose an affectionate tap before going. After slipping out of your dress, you unclasped your bra, tossing both into the bag without care. Buttoning up the matching plaid shirt, you put on some cosy socks then perched on the end of the bed. It took a few minutes, but you took your hair out of its style and brushed out all the knots until it was smooth again. Taking the remote, you flicked through the limited options on the tv.
“Anything decent?” The Master asked, reappearing from the bathroom.
“Shrek?” You said, not recognising anything else on the list. Clearly, it was the only big production movie they had bought the rights to stream. Looking up, your face grew warm at what you saw. It was a rare sight, seeing The Master in pyjamas, but it was one you found yourself liking. The grey vest was tight, making your eyes fixate on less than savoury areas. Walking to stand in front of you, she tilted your chin up so your eyes met.
“Put whatever you like on, I know noise helps you relax.” The Master smiled, stroking your cheek before stepping away and going to the left side of the bed. Clicking play, you looked back at her, watching as she sat herself against the pillows. “Well, are you going to join me?” She tilted her head, reaching an arm out for you. Not needing to be told twice, you crawled over to her and lay snug to her side. The Master chuckled, brushing her fingers through your hair. You couldn’t help but stare up at the woman, doe eyes flittering between her eyes and her lips.
“Do you want something, love?” She asked rhetorically, nails scratching at your nape. Getting shy, you shook your head and rolled over. Again, she laughed at your behaviour, shuffling down and pressing herself against your back. Tentatively, her hand slid up your hip and under the matching shirt.
“Don’t turn away from me, I enjoy seeing your pretty face. Especially when you’re blushing.” She spoke confidently, fingers gliding along the skin of your stomach. You bit your lip timidly, gazing back at her. There was a blistering smile on her face, tugging you to lay on your back before her hand slipping out, landing on your front. “That’s better.” The Master muttered, leaning down and giving you a chaste kiss. A whine slipped past your lips.
“That wasn’t a kiss.” You almost pouted, hardly noticing when she began to play with the buttons on your shirt.
“Oh, that wasn’t enough for you?” She inquired playfully, to which you shook your head fiercely. Unable to resist, The Master captured your lips in a deeper kiss, your hands finding purchase on her shoulders. Your lips moved in conjunction perfectly, the movie being drowned out in the background. She popped the bottom three buttons open, hand slithering back under the fabric. You gasped as her hand got higher, allowing The Blonde to escalate the kiss. A moan escaped as your tongues met, your fingers threading through her hair and tugging at it almost desperately. Somehow, she pulled back, trailing kisses along your jaw and down the column of your neck. Your head fell back as she nipped at the skin, leaving red marks in their wake.
“Such a tease.” She breathed, sinking her teeth into the sensitive area and leaving a dark bruise. Hissing in both pain and pleasure, you keened into her touch.
“Cute.” The Master smiled, looking down at you, proud of the state she had left you in. Carefully, she moved the both of you under the covers. Hooking her hands under your arms, she pulled you up onto the her chest and wrapped you in her warm embrace. You relaxed instantaneously, pressing your nose into the crook of her neck.
“Promise me you won’t kill Beth in the middle of the night?” You mumbled tiredly, hugging her waist comfortably. The Master huffed, drawing shapes onto your back.
“Fine. But only because I can’t bear the thought of leaving you.” Her response made you smile fondly, eyes closing feeling more content now. Falling silent, your mind started to drift off as you listened to the TV. Lowering the volume, The Master left it playing as you slept, making sure the duvet was shielding you from the cold. Having you sleep in her arms was a feeling she could definitely enjoy every night. With you, maybe she could even find the safety to fall asleep herself.

Ghost: *completely zoned out and running on auto pilot.* *Reaches down and just sticks his fingers inside Soap’s mouth*
Which of course wakes Soap up.
Soap and Ghost: *BOTH confused and blinking*

Im so sleepy but the wips are more important
Either Angel Neil or Vampdrew? Pretty please?
Have a nice day!!
WIP Wednesday (10/9) | Vampire Andrew AU (Part 188)
It was a bit past ten when Neil finally excused himself from watching Matt and Seth trade off playing Grand Theft Auto. Matt had offered Neil his turn about a dozen times, but finally gave up when Neil admitted he wasn't into video games. Neil was very familiar with stealing cars, but he'd never done it digitally.
And the game itself didn’t even seem interesting. Or maybe he was just tried. But a couple of times he’d zoned out only to jolt at the sound of virtual gunfire. Even through TV speakers, it made Neil want to dive behind something. But his new roommates would never understand that urge. And he could never tell them about it.
That's why he was going to bed early.
Well, that and the fact that his first full-team practice is only ten short hours away. He needs all the sleep he can get and—
Suddenly the bedroom door is opening and Matt is standing there with a blank look on his face. Neil, who was sitting on the edge of his bed about to take his contact lenses out, nearly has a heart attack. But Matt doesn’t seem to notice.
"Um,” Neil pretends he was just scratching his cheek. “What's up?"
Matt jerks a thumb behind himself and his voice sounds strange when he answers. "Andrew is here. For you."
Oh shit. Neil lets out a breath and follows Matt back to their front door, ready for a fight. Or rather, ready to let Matt fight for him. But when they get there, Andrew is all smiles.
"Thank you, Matt. You're done now. Go away." Andrew flicks his fingers dismissively and Matt turns around, jolting in surprise at Neil's presence.
"Shit man!" He says, grabbing his chest. He blinks down at Neil, confused. "When did you get here?"
"I... You," Neil glances back and forth between Boyd and Andrew, whose grin is permanent it seems. He's wearing a different shirt than before. One Neil's never seen him in. Since when is Andrew a Trojans fan? It makes no sense, but neither does Andrew showing up in the middle of the night.
While Matt's still between them, Neil asks, "What do you want?"
"To talk to you for a minute," Andrew says, then he points to the hallway's carpet. "Come out here."
"We can talk like this." Neil says, still half behind Matt. "With witnesses."
Andrew laughs like that's the funniest thing he's ever heard. "That's cold, Neil. You're the reason we started off on the wrong foot. And today you stomped on Kevin's toes. Besides, I only wanted to discuss your scrapbook—"

wrong paper
DannyMay2023 Day 19: No Backspace Challenge
title: wrong paper
words: 665
Summary: Mr. Lancer gets an assignment from Danny that is not right.
DISCLAIMER: This is no backspace, no spell check, no auto capitalization, and no punctuation shortcuts. I'll probably provide a better copy later on because ya girl can't fucking spell. Or type. Or write. Some of the crossouts are my fuck ups. Some are for flavor. ...to hide all my fuck ups.
~~~~~~
Mr. Lancer streched tiredly, blinking sleep from his eyes as he pulled the next essay towards him. Not for the first time, he considered asking Ishiyama to allow him to o go over basic penmanship in class, how could absolutely none of these children write legibily? At least they were workingon a creative writing course so the papers were varied and interesting for once.
Eve i Or at least… some of them were. Thus far, Dash had written about a football star with superpowers, Paulina about marrying a superhero, Mickey wishing he was a superhero…
living in a town with an actual superhero probably influenced some of these papers, if Lncer had to take a stab in the dark.
The next paper he pulled ou was one with a lot of smurdged and crossed out text, no name a t the ti top. The hanwriting was familiar, at least. Mr. Fenton certainly had a… unique version of chicken scratch.
Lancer frowned at the paper as he began to read it. this… didn’t look like the ‘Write A Story’ assignment he’d assigned.
The sear words indicated as much, vulgar languageLancer had never heard Fenton use.
Man, I am so fuckingover this shit. Mr. Popular Asshat shoved me into a locker FOUR times today. I’m so ecsawus exhaush exhausted. I’ve shoved at least 15 ghosts back into the Zoe at Zone this week. It’s Wednesday. Wednesday!!! Skulker has come for my pelt four times alone.
Oh I forgot the date - it’s Jan 23 26 2005.
honestly I should be working on my stupid paper for English class for Lancer. But what stoy could story can I possiblytell that isn’t less ridiculous than my actual life? or whatever the phrase is. My life is everal way too wild, more than anything I could imagine up.
Like… I’m a half dead teenager. I’ve been dead for nearly a year and no one’s noticed. I fight for my life everyday. I’m a superhero with a secret iedentity and best freind/sidekicks - though if I eevr called them sidekicks to their faces again I’m getting side-kicked in the face. I’ve even got extra bonus points! My parents want to dissect me, I’m failing school. Hell, I’ve even got an evil alternate timeline version of myself that caused the fucking end of the world.
The TV shows make it look so easy. so do th e comics. I’m so tired. I’m only 14, I’m not supposed to be atri sk atrisk at risk of getting murdered daily. Well, not this high of a risk. I don’t want to live like this. But if I stop fgihting, trying, I’ll be dead within a week.
It isn’t fair. Life isn’t fair and neither is death.
Still, might be a cool story idea.
A teenage slacker who gets electrocuted by his parents invention, dies, and get brought back halfway. Turns into a ghost and saves people while his human life seems to wither and die around him. Is constantly hunted and villified when he just wants to help.
Yeah. My life as Phantom would make a hell of a story, wouldn’t it?
Lancer stared at the paper in confusion. It certainly sounded like a wonderful fictttitious story… but somhow it didn’t seem like fiction. It seemed more like a journl entry.
Lancer turned to his computer, pulling up the local news website. It wasn’t hard to find an article about Phantom, he was in the top three stories.
PHANTOM SAVES 13 FROM OFFICE FIRE
Lancer studde studied the article, blowing up the picture of Phantom’s dace. Of Danny Phantom’s face. He opened up another screen, pulling up the student files (complete with pictures). He pulled up D. Fenton’s file, several alerts coming up about truancy, tardis, tardies, absences, missed assignments n fa and failing grades. Lancer enlarged the human boy’s photo and sat it side by side wth the one of Phantom.
Change the coloration… and these two were identical.
Oh no.
Ohno.
Oh no.
Ko-fi prompt from @thisarenotarealblog:
There's a street near me that has eight car dealerships all on the same lot- i counted. it mystifies me that even one gets enough sales to keep going- but 8?? is there something you can tell me that demystifies this aspect of capitalism for me?
I had a few theories going in, but had to do some research. Here is my primary hypothesis, and then I'll run through what they mean and whether research agrees with me:
Sales make up only part of a dealership's income, so whether or not the dealership sells much is secondary to other factors.
Dealerships are put near each other for similar reasons to grouping clothing stores in a mall or restaurants on a single street.
Zoning laws impact where a car dealership can exist.
Let's start with how revenue works for a car dealership, as you mentioned 'that even one gets enough sales to keep going' is confusing. For this, I'm going to be using the Sharpsheets finance example, this NYU spreadsheet, and this Motor1 article.
This example notes that the profit margin (i.e. the percentage of revenue that comes out after paying all salaries, rent, supply, etc) for a car dealership is comparatively low, which is confirmed by the NYC sheet. The gross profit margin (that is to say, profits on the car sale before salaries, rent, taxes) is under 15% in both sources, which is significantly lower than, say, the 50% or so that one sees in apparel or cable tv.
Cars are expensive to purchase, and can't be sold for much more than you did purchase them. However, a low gross profit margin on an item that costs tens of thousands of dollars is still a hefty chunk of cash. 15% gross profit of a $20,000 car is still $3,000 profit. On top of that, the dealership will charge fees, sell warranties, and offer upgrades. They may also have paid deals to advertise or push certain brands of tire, maintenance fluids, and of course, banks that offer auto loans. So if a dealership sells one car a day, well, that's still several thousand dollars coming in, which is enough to pay the salaries of most of the employees. According to the Motor1 article, "the average gross profit per new vehicle sits at $6,244" in early 2022.
There is also a much less volatile, if also much smaller, source of revenue in attaching a repairs and checkup service to a dealership. If the location offers repairs (either under warranty or at a 'discounted' rate compared to a local, non-dealership mechanic), state inspections, and software updates, that's a recurring source of revenue from customers that aren't interested in purchasing a car more than once a decade.
This also all varies based on whether it's a brand location, used vs new, luxury vs standards, and so on.
I was mistaken as to how large a part of the revenue is the repairs and services section, but the income for a single dealership, on average, does work out math-wise. Hypothesis disproven, but we've learned something, and confirmed that income across the field does seem to be holding steady.
I'm going to handle the zoning and consolidation together, since they overlap:
Consolidation is a pretty easy one: this is a tactic called clustering. The expectation is that if you're going to, say, a Honda dealership to look at a midsize sedan, and there's a Nissan right next door, and a Ford across the street, and a Honda right around the corner, you might as well hit up the others to see if they have better deals. This tactic works for some businesses but not others. In the case of auto dealerships, the marketing advantage of clustering mixes with the restrictions of zoning laws.
Zoning laws vary by state, county, and township. Auto dealerships can generally only be opened on commercially zoned property.
I am going to use an area I have been to as an example/case study.
This pdf is a set of zoning regulations for Suffolk County, New York, published 2018, reviewing land use in the county during 2016. I'm going to paste in the map of the Town of Huntington, page 62, a region I worked in sporadically a few years ago, and know mostly for its mall and cutesy town center.
Tumblr media
Those red sections are Commercially Zoned areas, and they largely follow some large stroads, most notably Jericho Turnpike (the horizontal line halfway down) and Walt Whitman Road (the vertical line on the left). The bulge where they intersect is Walt Whitman Mall, and the big red chunk in the bottom left is... mostly parking. That central strip, Jericho Turnpike, and its intersection with Walt Whitman... looks like this:
Tumblr media
All those red spots are auto dealerships, one after another.
So zoning laws indicate that a dealership (and many other types of commercial properties) can only exist in that little red strip on the land use map, and dealerships take up a lot of space. Not only do they need places to put all of the cars they are selling, but they also need places to park all their customers and employees.
This is where we get into the issue of parking minimums. There is a recent video from Climate Town, with a guest spot by NotJustBikes. If you want to know more about this aspect of zoning law, I'd recommend watching this video and the one linked in the description.
Suffolk county does not have parking minimums. Those are decided on a town or village level. In this case, this means we are looking at the code set for the town of Huntington. (I was originally looking on the county level, and then cut the knot by just asking my real estate agent mom if she knew where I could find minimum parking regulations. She said to look up e360 by town, and lo and behold! There they are.)
(There is also this arcgis map, which shows that they are all within the C6 subset of commercial districting, the General Business District.)
Furniture or appliance store, machinery or new auto sales - 1 per 500 square feet of gross floor area
Used auto sales, boat sales, commercial nurseries selling at retail - 5 spaces for each use (to be specifically designated for customer parking) - Plus 1 for each 5,000 square feet of lot area
This is a bit odd, at first glance, as the requirements are actually much lower than that of other businesses, like drive-in restaurants (1 per 35 sqft) or department stores (1 per 200 sqft). I could not find confirmation on whether the 'gross floor area' of the dealership included only indoor spaces or also the parking lot space allotted to the objects for sale, but I think we can assume that any parking spaces used by merchandise do not qualify as part of the minimum. Some dealerships can have up to 20,000 gross sqft, so those would require 40 parking spaces reserved solely for customers and employees. Smaller dealerships would naturally need less. One dealership in this area is currently offering 65 cars of varying makes and models; some may be held inside the building, but most will be on the lot, and the number may go higher in other seasons. If we assume they need 30 parking spaces for customers and employees, and can have up to 70 cars in the lot itself, they are likely to have 100 parking spaces total.
That's a lot of parking.
Tumblr media
Other businesses that require that kind of parking requirement are generally seeing much higher visitation. Consider this wider section of the map:
Tumblr media
The other buildings with comparative parking are a grocery store (Lidl) and a post office (can get some pretty high visitation in the holiday season, but also just at random).
Compare them, then, to the "old town" section of the same town.
Tumblr media
There are a handful of public parking areas nearby (lined in blue), whereas the bulk of the businesses are put together along this set of streets. While there is a lot of foot traffic and vehicle passage, which is appealing for almost any business, opening a car dealership in this area would require not only buying a building, but also the buildings surrounding it. You would need to bulldoze them for the necessary parking, which would be prohibitively expensive due to the cost of local real estate... and would probably get shot down in the application process by city planners and town councils and so on. Much easier to just buy land over in the strip where everyone's got giant parking lots and you can just add a few extra cramped lanes for the merchandise.
Car dealerships also tend to be very brightly lit, which hits a lot of NIMBY sore spots. It's much easier to go to sleep if you aren't right next to a glaring floodlight at a car dealership, so it's best if we just shove them all away from expensive residential, which means towards the loud stroads, which means... all along these two major roads/highways.
And if they're all limited to a narrow type of zoning already, they might as well take advantage of cluster marketing and just all set up shop near each other in hopes of stealing one of the other's customers.
As consumers, it's also better for us, because if we want to try out a few different cars from a few different brands, it's pretty easy to just go one building down to try out the Hyundai and see if it's better than a Chevy in the same price group.
(Prompt me on ko-fi!)
Regarding the loop count sometimes increasing offscreen: I don't think my linear real world experience of the narrative is what Siffrin experienced. In the first round of family route, he forgets/doesn't notice that Odile has different dialogue in the first snack break. And there's a line after Mirabelle defeats the king in Act 5 where iirc Siffrin seems surprised that the party was also experiencing the fucked up maze House of Change, i.e. that it was real and not something he was hallucinating. From Siffrin's diegetic perspective, I don't think there's a strict dichotomy between the "skipped" loops and the loops the player sees, or between the Act 5 House of Change and the normal house - I think they were losing time and getting confused and possibly experiencing hallucinations throughout most or all loops, from way earlier than Act 5. Since Act 4 at the latest, I would think since mid-Act 3.
Also thinking about this... I assume sometimes Siffrin would have been able to tell that he'd lost time because he was thinking about something related to the northern island. But I bet he couldn't always. I think the times he starts to say something about his family/home and then gets confused, or times he’s forgetful and completely blanks on something that happened since leaving the island, or times the player holds down "zone out" through an entire scene/Siffrin chooses to or just finds himself zoning out through a whole conversation, or times Siffrin/the game skips forward on its own like when he loses time in the Act 5 friendquests, or times Siffrin skips events within a loop by looping backward or forward or auto-clearing a floor, are not really clearly distinguishable from Sif's in-universe perspective.
Bad Days turned Blue(y).
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson x little! reader
TW: age regression (involuntary) due to anxiety and stress. If you don’t like this, please don’t read!
When reader has a really rough day at school, Eddie finds her secretly in her room watching her new favorite show, and decides to tune in.
Today was a rough day for you. You had got into an argument early in the morning with one of your friends in class, you got shut down by a teacher in that class, and only you were the one who got in trouble for it, and then after school one of your coworkers embarrassed you in front of your team at work, you pretty much spent a majority of your breaks sobbing in the bathroom.
What’s even worse is today was a day Eddie decided to skip classes and not tell you ahead of time. Maybe he got too high or drunk the night before, who knows. all you know is he wasn’t there when you needed him most and that was your biggest let down.
Normally you always looked forward to seeing him in the hallways, or at lunch just to sneak in a hug or a reassuring hand squeeze or two. But none of that today, you were on your own and felt like you were slowly suffocating on the negativity of the day.
You just couldn’t wait to go home, curl up in bed, and watch Bluey, it’s a new show you discovered recently. It not only helps you feel safe and comforted, the episodes are just so easy and calming to watch and not overstimulating. It’s a show you can watch whether big or little.
At this point of the day you are just leaning back at work zoning in and out, just focused on getting home. it wasn’t until your boss called you out on it and sent you home for not being focused at work.
“Go home, Y/N. You’re doing us no good just standing around like that.”
His snarky tone and frustrated look on his face was what was pushing you to your limit for the day.
With the holidays, school starting back up and work, you have not been able to watch Bluey much, or more importantly be small (you are still learning to allow yourself to voluntarily regress as a coping skill to PREVENT these kind of days).
And now after crying so much today and being so worn down, you were beyond exhausted and burnt out, you could feel herself slipping deeper and deeper into little space as you inched closer and closer to the house.
Normally when you are slipping like this, you can’t do much of anything because of the anxiety attached to it, but you were solely on auto pilot mode, trying to just get home and get inside.
That was the hope, anyway. But it seemed like getting closer to home you were getting more and more anxious. Due to the distance of the drive it seemed like you had time to fully feel and process the longevity of the day and the weight of it, and it was hitting you like a train as soon as you pull into the driveway.
You storm into the house and immediately put on your comfort pajamas on, you grab your favorite stuffie, and a soft blanket and march into the living room, putting Bluey on the TV and plopping on the couch, curling up and clinging to your stuffie as close as possible.
It only took about half an episode to fully submerge you into little space, and only about 3 more after that to lull you to a much needed nap. You stayed asleep until you were startled awake by the door opening and closing.
You jump up and see Eddie standing in the doorway of the living room, chewing on his hair to prevent his smile as he looks at you, the TV, just staring.
“Well, well, well… what do we have going on here?!” He says playfully while chuckling.
You immediately feel heat rush to your cheeks and tears swell up in your eyes. You know Teddy is never going to make fun of you for being small, but little you already dealt with so much today and his grin and laugh makes you think he’s laughing at you and making fun.
“Don’ laugh at me!” You whine out and hide under your blanket as you begin to sniffle away tears.
You hear Eddie shuffle towards you and he starts to let out confused sounds. “What in the WORLD?! Where did my sweet little baby go?! I swear they were JUST HERE.”
you could hear the smile in his voice. You took the blanket off and before he could pull the “THERE THEY ARE” bit your frown stopped him in his tracks.
“I not a baby, Teds. I don’ wanna play dat.” You then cringe at the name you said and way you spoke, proving that you were in fact, small.
He clicks his tongue and plops down on the couch next to you, when you turn away from him and pretend to keep watching Bluey like he doesn’t exist he gently grabs you and turns you towards him, pausing the show.
“What’s wrong angel? Please talk to Teddy, I can’t help if I don’t know what’s going on” he says softly.
You look down and play with your hands for a second, grabbing the remote and playing the show again, avoiding his eye contact as much as possible. But he knows his stare is your weakness and he did not break his gaze towards you for one second. He stayed patiently watching you for an entire episode of Bluey, and when the next one started, when you weren’t singing the intro or dancing with him to the music he knew something was really wrong.
He gets up and turns the entire TV off this time, standing in front of it, arms crossed and stares at you with a slight smirk, but serious and concerned gaze on his face.
“Baby, you know I don’t like when you ignore Teddy. You gotta talk to me, ‘member? Communication is important. And it hurts Teddy’s feelings when you don’t look at me or talk to me”
you felt tears welling up again and you mumbled “how do you think I felt today when you weren’t at school”
Eddie’s face fell “oh honey, I’m sorry I forgot to tell you I wasn’t coming in today. Wayne needed me and I-“
“And I needed Teddy!” You choked out and curl yourself back up into the couch and turn to face away from him, fully shutting down.
He gently comes up behind you and wraps his arms around your waist, kissing your temple and whispering “I’m sorry sweetheart. I don’t know exactly what happened but I can tell it was a hard time for you and I wish I could’ve been there. Teddy is super duper sorry. Teddy’s here now and he wants to hold you and help you feel better, hm? How does that sound? We put Bluey back on and snuggle?”
at this point you’re smaller than ever. Eddie’s caring demeanor for you always has that effect. You slowly nod your head and turn towards him, making grabby hands and he immediately scoops you up and readjusts on the couch so he’s comfortably cradling you, as you are both snuggly wrapped in soft blankets and he presses play on the show.
As he’s playing with your hair and rubbing soothing circles throughout your body, you feel yourself feeling better and more safe and grounded. By the time you guys watch two episodes, you and Eddie both are giggly and invested in the show again, and you laugh at all of Eddie’s dramatic reactions to the show. He has his sweet little giggly baby again!
You spend the rest of the evening on the couch snuggling, Eddie giving you random kisses on your head until you fall fast asleep in his arms. He lets you stay there, because he can tell when his baby has had a rough one, and he’ll do anything to let those hard days go by faster, even if it means his arms falling asleep for hours while holding you.
It’s worth it.
Hi guys! I hope you all had an amazing week! How are ya? ♥️ enjoy this new chapter, which is reminiscent of the prologue!
Chapter Twenty-Eight: The Freak and The Babe (Part Two)
The Morning of March 24, 1986
“Follow me.” Eddie says quietly as we follow him closely. Eddie is masked by Max’s Michael Myers mask and while it totally looks ridiculous, I just want to rip the thing off and kiss him all over. As if we were alone. However, we’re on a mission, get to The War Zone.
We get to the RV, with its occupants outside on the other side. We gotta be sneaky. Eddie kneels down and holds his hands out, giving me a boost. “Babe, you first.” I nod as I step on his foot and jump into the RV in one swift motion. I make sure I have my bag with me. Gotta photograph and write about the memories. Besides, Dustin apparently packed a bag when Eddie and I went “missing” for a moment.
I look into the bag as I get off the couch. My Hellfire Club shirt, a black cardigan, and a bohemian skirt. Stevie Nicks mixed with me. I look at my boots. This will be my war outfit. Great job, brother. “Okay, I’m in!” I whisper in the window as I look around the mobile home. Eddie jumps in quickly, and rips that horrid mask off. I snap a picture of the moment. “Dustin packed a bag when you and I were… running away from Carver…. And….”
I stand on my tippy toes and he wraps his arms around me as we share a fast, heated kiss. “Smart kid.” He chuckles. “Let’s go to the front.” Eddie says as Steve jumps in, then Robin, then Nancy. Eddie sits in the driver’s seat and I sit on the floor beside him watching him work his magic.
Truth was, I’ve heard stories about him hot-wiring cars. That his dad taught him. I’ve always wanted to witness it. Steve comes up and watches Eddie too. Slow down Harrington. The others come in the background. Dustin closes the window. I act as a look out while watching him too, watching his fingers work.
“When did you learn how to do that?” Steve asks. “Well, when the other dads were teaching their kids how to fish or play ball, my old man was teaching me how to hot-wire.” He told me about his father. How he went to prison, and also his mother passing away too. So young. I appreciate Uncle Wayne more and more daily. He raised such an amazing man.
“… But now, I’m wanted for murder, and soon, grand theft auto.” He takes a breath as I rest my hand on his knee. “So yeah, I’m really living up to that Munson name.” That statement feels like a gut punch.
“Uh, Eddie, I’m not sure if I love the idea of you driving.” Robin says as she rests her hand on the top of the chair. Eddie and I smirk at each other and I try not to laugh at his goofy grin. “Oh, I’m starting this sucker. Harrington’s got her.” He leans into Steve to his and Robin’s confusion, and my laughter. “Don’tcha big boy.”
It becomes a big blur after that. The engine started. We heard someone scream “what the hell?” Dustin yelling “Steve, Drive!” “Everyone hang onto something!” Steve yells as we get settled and hang on for dear life. Dustin and Max are in the back. Erica, Eddie, Lucas, Robin and I are in the middle. Nancy is in the passenger seat next to Steve.
Erica and I hang on to each other while Robin hangs on to the wall. Lucas and Eddie are enjoying being tossed around head banging. Steve takes sharp turns as we scream. “Hang on to me, okay?” I tell Erica as she hugs my waist tightly. The Sinclair’s I know would kick my ass. Finally, it all seems over when Steve takes a seemingly lethal left turn.
********
Things are finally smooth and calm. It kind of reminds me of when Eddie, myself and the boys would hang out in Eddie’s van. Eddie and I would be sitting up front driving around, usually an area looking over Lover’s Lake and we’d all hang out. It was all good times. We wouldn’t worry about the Upside Down, or Vecna. Just living. The boys would play music and we’d relax, smoke a bit of weed. Eddie and I would be alone, too, sometimes. I miss those times.
I snuggle against Eddie’s arm and smile against it. “This is one hell of a way to celebrate a year.” I joke as we both laugh. “It truly has, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.” “Really?” “Well, I didn’t picture the Upside Down or Vecna in it but I’m with you and that’s all that matters.” I laugh as we share a kiss.
“So, I’ve been wondering. How did you two end up together?” Erica asks while Robin cracks up. I think of a way to tell her, the not-so-little-girl-anymore I used to babysit. “Well.” I start looking at Eddie and he raises his eyebrows. “Last year while in the cafeteria, I was being harassed by some prick.” I start as Lucas and Dustin sing-song, “Jason Carver.”
We all laugh as Erica states “That Ken wannabe was harassing you? Ew.” “Yeah. That prick had a crush on me. I don't like him for obvious reasons. Everyday he would find a way to ask me out. That day, was the big game. He wanted me to cheer him on. I was actually planning on sitting with Robin and our friends, but Jason would not leave me the hell alone. Then, Eddie stepped in.”
I gleam up at him and he shares the emotion back. I can hear Steve and Nancy talking up front. Something about a dream Steve would always have. Good job, Harrington.
“I swooped in to save the day. I would watch Jason harass her daily and her disdain. I’ve always had a crush on Roxie.” “Why were you scared to go up to her in the first place?” Erica asks. We all couldn’t help but laugh. “I was very intimidated by Roxie. That Stevie Nicks vibe. There was just something about her that just drew me in… it wasn’t until Gareth The Great told me to grow a pair.” “And thank god he did. I couldn’t handle it anymore. I love you.” “I love you too.”
He holds my cheek and Erica chuckles. “Good. I approve of this. At first, I wasn’t sure until I saw you two at the campaign. Lucas would talk about how different you seemed and always canoodling.” I chuckle at Lucas. “Well, we appreciate being Erica Sinclair approved.” I say grinning at her. Eddie chuckles, oh god. “Just want until you hear how Dustin found out.”
“NO!” All of us except for Erica says. I laugh at the ridiculousness, but I mean would you want to tell the girl you used to babysit how one night Eddie tried to sneak out after we hooked up and got caught by Dustin? No way.
“We're here!” Steve shouts as we look up front. “Thank god. I was scared we’d explain the birds and the bees to Erica.” Robin whispers in my ear while side eyeing Eddie. “Oh calm down.” I say laughing. Nancy and Steve come to the back and we plan. “Who’s all coming?” Nancy asks. Steve and Robin raise their hands, as well as Max. “Me!” I say enthusiastically, which Dustin disagrees with.
“No! That’s dangerous Roxie!” Dustin says. “I agree. If Jason ran his mo-“ Lucas starts being Eddie interrupts him. “No, guys. Roxie should go in. I trust Roxie going in there. She can handle anything. I’ve seen her handle Jason before and it’s worked. If he’s in there, I just know he wouldn’t do anything.” “I’ll go in too, I wanna see Roxie end Carver.” Erica says.
“And I’ll go. We need all the weapons we can get.” Nancy says. I smile at Nancy and then Eddie. “I’ll be right back, okay sweetheart?” I kiss his lips and he kisses me back. “See you soon, sweetheart.” He says back. I get up and walk out with everyone. “If you want. I’ll stay with you. It could be like when we were younger. ‘Hawkins Angels’.” Nancy says holding out her hand as we walk. “Hawkins Angels vs Vecna!!” We both laugh as we walk inside.
I really need help with understanding some important things (Palestine related) and need to get my feelings flung out into the void before I can start figuring out what and how to research so I'm gonna do all that in one messy post and hope maybe someone else has a good starting point or has already done this rodeo or something.
First off, I've been donating to and reposting the OOB links and other charity links and all of those people deserve safety and dignity and shouldn't be experiencing any of this, I'm not at all confused about this being a genocide and that being unequivocally horrible and the state of Israel being guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity of increasingly horrific nature over the course of the last 60 years but especially last 6 months.
That out of the way, I get that people need to get out of Gaza, I get that Israel is bombing places they've said are safe zones and are targeting civilians and getting out is the only way to guarantee they won't be killed there. I also know that there are a lot of people who won't or can't leave for various reasons and there are orgs like doctors without borders and save the children that are helping those people and that's great, that infrastructure is really important.
I keep getting lost in my own thoughts and trying to set up something worded perfectly that no one could misconstrue as anything so that it's 100% obvious that I'm asking because I'm worried about people and don't know what to look into in order to keep helping but I know that's impossible so I guess I should get on with it.
A ton of these people are going to Egypt as refugees and I'm sure some of them are going to get there in a way that isn't legal (which I'm not saying is morally wrong here, they're literally being killed so I'm not going to judge them) because the border crossings are limited. For both groups of people I'm just terrified about what comes next for them. I know this is rich coming from someone in 2024 USA, but Egypt hasn't exactly been known to be the friendliest place for its own citizens and non-refugee immigrants, and I'm just really scared for everyone and I don't know what to do about it.
I don't know what organizations there are in Egypt that are helping organize refugees, if there are any that might be helping people get visas once they get into Egypt to keep refugees from piling up and ending up back in tent encampments with hardly any food or medicine because the Egyptian government doesn't have anywhere else to put them (or will say they don't). Most of the stuff I've found online has seemed fishy or is in arabic and the in browser auto translate has been horrendous to try to decode. I just don't know where to even look and I'm feeling really overwhelmed and anxious all the time because I know people are suffering and I want to put money in the hands of people who can help them navigate this horrible situation. Because like, getting out of the blast zone is definitely the most important thing and I'm glad so many people are mobilizing to help with that, but getting visas and getting ID cards and finding work to support their new lives after being through so much trauma and all of the other stuff they're going to have to navigate is going to be so hard and so confusing for so many people and I'm just. Overwhelmed.
So, I thought of something interesting. (Dark but I guess I do that a lot)
Berdly is a character who has this feeling that he needs to keep up this intelligent image. This thought process holds him back, makes him extremely insecure, and hurts him in more ways than one.
Much like how Noelle's problems hinder her and are the main topic in the weird/snowgrave route.
Now, this is where I go/sound crazy over idea I had for a current hyper fixation (that being deltarune)
What if there was a "weirder route/Thornroute"?
You may ask "What does that even mean?" And I ask the same. I can only give my original thought process. My main Idea is that after freezing Berdly, you go back to Spamton's shop in the trash zone. He has a new item to sell. "ᴘᴏʀᴛᴀʙʟᴇ ʜᴇᴀᴛᴇʀ"
What is the portable heater? The portable heater is an old heating unit from "BIGSHOT Autos!!"
You buy this portable heater and use it on Berdly's frozen body. Leaving him to thaw for 5 irl minutes. (If you leave the room the timer resets)
After saving Berdly, you "apologize" to him. He accepts and barely remembers what happened to him anyways. You have him in your party now. Before you continue, you must backtrack and kill 7-8 enemies that managed to hide when you were freezing your way through the cyber world. How? You use the attack Berdly uses in all 3 of his fights (not including plug Berdly I think) Now you may continue.
And as you make your way into Queen's mansion, you notice it is different. There is an entire new floor exclusive to this route. It is filled to the BRIM with puzzles. Almost every other room has a puzzle in it.
Why?
Because this is how we manipulate Berdly. We force him to complete puzzles, however.. He just can't manage to do it. After waiting one minute and talking to Berdly, where he goes to the middle of the room, breaks down, and lays there defeated. We then solve the puzzle for him (with ease) and tell him to get back up.
After a while, Berdly actually completes the puzzles, faster and faster each time. And as we kill the enemies in Queen's mansion we see Berdly is actually very capable. His physical incompetence is linked to his mental image and intelligence actually being used.
After a while we get to the end, defeating Queen very easily. The only issue is, now we have to fight Berdly.
Why?
Berdly is so powerful and confident that he decides to take a stand against Kris. And so we get the hardest boss fight in the game (so far)
After defeating Berdly, we seal the fountain like usual. (No interruptions like NEO or anything like that)
After everyone wakes up, Noelle is confused and happy that Berdly is alive. But Berdly? Berdly doesn't think about how he's late for his shift with Ms. Boom. Instead, he walks into the main library area and is reading a book. Something technology related, something he wants to do. Something he isn't too dumb for or needs help with. For the first time, He doesn't need anyone but himself.
Anyways!! Hope this isn't such a crack idea or crazy post to start off my tumbler adventure with. Hope you all enjoyed reading ❤
