I really do think that making OCs that you really care about will probably lead to situations where you get a big crush on a character that is not only fictional, but also entirely unknown outside of your mind. This is pretty normal at the end of the day and really doesn't hurt anyone but I think people are pretty eager to pretend it doesn't happen to them. Making a little freak with shavings of your own brain will inevitably lead to you making someone that you think is awesome. Because you're awesome.
