The “Lauren was wrong but she helped Leyla get in” perspective always confuses me and kind of feels like Leyla should be grateful which is weird because Leyla didn’t ask Lauren to “fix” things for her. The resident director was trash and Lauren could’ve tried to oust him somehow but that would’ve made for less dramatic tv I know lol. It was just so 0-100 because Leyla got a spot her own, it just wasn’t at New Amsterdam. And she was fine with it and wanted to try long distance, but Lauren was like absolutely not where there’s a will—a cheque—there’s a way lol. Now I mean, I wouldn’t drop out either because there are other departments and starting over for a second time sounds like hell, but Leyla’s always been proud. I do think they should address her intruder and struggle complex, because dropping out instead of just transferring is taking independent to another level, but when you add the fallout from their relationship to it, it makes sense to me. I love Lauren and it’s hard seeing her so down but she got herself into this. She’s pretty open with a Leyla but there are still some vulnerabilities she can’t or won’t voice and she should get the opportunity to work on that. But with this iffy writing who knows when that’ll be.

We humans are very good at throwing around “no other choice” in a way that convinces ourselves and most other people that that is true, when it is actually very rarely the case. Maybe we watch too many movies with life/death odds, or it’s just the good ol’ entitlement kicking in, and we plainly just don’t want to even acknowledge certain truths. And we tend to err heavily on the “action” side, when so often, “do nothing” was behind door number one the whole time.

A really good example is in cat rescue. People freak out all the time because they see a cat in need, but I want to scream into a pillow when they act like rescues are lying when telling them they have no room to help. When we try to offer them resources to become a foster parent or even provide temporary housing for animals that they are concerned for, people are SHOCKED that we would suggest it, because how on earth would they handle all that? Like the actual foster parents and rescue folks aren’t stressed and financially strained by what we do.

And that’s exactly where I feel you and I are frustrated with our beloved idiot Lauren Bloom 😔✌🏼 She framed the bribe as “the only option”, and I think she still believes that, to a degree, with the dichotomy she set up being between “long distance indefinitely” and “with me here at NA” instead of:

One giant leap of some kind

From a small step for a man, a video conference today. Today was the day things started getting a lot more real, but once again it was nothing but positive, even though I was crying at the end of it - they were tears of joy, of gratitude, relief. This is a long post; the tldr is basically yay me, a door has been kicked wide open and I have been welcomed inside.

The lady (let's call her Sarah) asked about my pronouns (idc but my name is Vivian, Miss Jackson if you're nasty); and even though I was sitting with open mind, the next question was kind of a curveball. Sarah asked me to use terms about my experience that made me feel comfortable, and it's a bit odd but I hadn't given it a second thought so it took me a moment to think of some good words; things like acceptance, positivity, conviction.

The whole thing is a bit of a blur now, of course, because of what it really entailed for me. Of course I had been waiting for weeks, and I had no idea what to expect so I just entered being completely open. There was no sexual aspect to any of the conversation, and although this was as much as I might expect from a preliminary conversation with a medical professional, it was nice to be able to 'tell my story' as Sarah put it. Since I started taking these small steps, momentum has been gathering for a giant leap, but I don't think it's going to work that way; I'm not to wake up tomorrow being Cinderella. Which is good because I just did my nails.

There's something really important I need to add here, not that I am trying to claim any kind of advantage or be poseur; but, I live in Canada. This is going to cost me nothing beyond the heavily discounted price of prescription drugs, and new clothes. If I lived in the US this would be an impossible dream, and although the vast majority of Americans would live nowhere else, the costs attendant with this procedure have to hold back a great many desperately unhappy people, and that makes me feel very sad. Having said that, because of where I am, the whole financial side is a giant nothing, and that absence is a giant comfort level inherent that others are mired under. This I get. To me it's just another huge positive about undertaking the journey; I already have clothes duh.

Anyway, the conversation was fairly brief, about half an hour, and by the end of it I am now in the lineup for voice coaching and mannerisms; a hormone assessment; and a Zoom peer group. Just. like. that. This person I see myself as; the one wearing those clothes, feeling more at home in my decrepit old body than I ever have. The thought of having breasts terrifies me as much as it want it for validation, and I will have nowhere to hide any longer, even if I'm not in the office, I can't pretend my camera is broken forever, and in one on one with boss it's going to be unavoidable.

I have no idea how I'm going to speak with my mother about it, and of course there is yet the whole "everyone I know except the 4 people who know thing"- the dozens of long time friends at work, the dozen or so close personal friends, and the dozen or so significant family.

I do know I have absolute faith and belief in myself, that I shall not waver at all - I found someone in myself that I feel compelled to be outwardly as much as inside, and that person's voice has become a clamour that has torn down walls and reshaped my mind, it is time now for me to start being her more, because if I truly want this, if Vivian is really who I am and love as me, it is here - the hand has been offered, and I have taken it.

I am way beyond any simple adjective like 'happy' or 'validated'; this is my whole being entering metamorphosis, up until now the whole experience has been mental and inward; it's now going to also be physical and outward. Here I come, world, fucking right these lovely new boots are made for walking.

The fact that I happened to find them in someone else's idea of the 'wrong' department, along with the nice 'skinny' b/w check tweed leggings, is nobody's business but mine. They are not women's clothes, they are my clothes, and I can't wait to take the next step now, which is an androgynous haircut and eyebrow work, and a makeup consultation.

Like I said above, for now at least there is nothing remotely sexualized, or to my mind deviant, about this change - it is a massive step forward in terms of personal growth, empathy, understanding, courage and self-reliance, and shoes.

Fortunately, the currently deleterious habits of being a budget driven designer whore with a penchant for shoes shall become advantageous vices as Vivian, and she is going to like that just fine. It's just something I feel inside; call it women's intuition lol

Kimi ni Todoke Chapter 121 Translation

Hey my fellow Kimi ni Todoke fans!

I’m so sorry for the long wait on this translation! Thank you for your patience!

Before we get started, let me put my usual disclaimer out there. I can read Japanese and I study the language in my free time, but I’m not even remotely close to fluent. I sometimes encounter sentence structures / grammar concepts that are beyond my level of comprehension, and I do my best to figure things out with the help of my dictionary and the internet. With this in mind, just know that I do occasionally make mistakes and misinterpret things; I’m not trying to pass this or my other translations off as the work of an experienced or professional translator. I love translating, and the main reason I do it is so that those of you who adore Kimi ni Todoke but can’t read or understand Japanese can follow what’s happening in the latest chapters. I don’t think it would be fair if only those of us who understand Japanese got to keep in the loop, especially when official English translations are so far behind! So even though some things might be wrong, I’d still like to share what I was able to gather from the chapter with you! :)

Without spoiling anything...my Sawako x Kazehaya shipper friends out there, the next couple of weeks are going to be very hard for you. This chapter ends on a cliffhanger, but stay strong! October 13th will be here before you know it!

* Not too confident in this translation – I’m pretty sure Sawako said that she wants to move alone. I think the line might be saying that her mom asked, “Do you know how long moving by yourself will take?” and then Sawako said she wanted to try it out. Or Sawako said the whole line. But regardless of who said it, Sawako wants to try out moving alone.

Kazehaya: “Moving preparations going well?”

Sawako: “Yes. It’s going little by little, but I’m sorting through and packing the things I’m going to bring with me.”

Sawako: “Have you decided what day you’ll be moving, Kazehaya-kun?”

Sorry I can’t quite get this one – I have a feeling it’s the people turning the gas on because Kazehaya is making a guess when he says they’ll be busy.

* Honestly not sure about this, so I gave it my best guess. The word for teacup (茶わん / Chawan) can also mean rice bowl. Since Kazehaya only has one cup, I think Sawako is suggesting using a small bowl to drink her tea (since the shape is roughly the same, and tea is even in the word). I could be totally wrong, but I wanted to explain my reasoning.

How do i get a cover note for my car instead of insurance for my car?

By that i mean ive heard theres such a thing called a cover note wich acts like insurance documents but the only diffrence being you dont pay insurance for the car and you pay all the costs if you have and accident. Please anyone give any feedback please. Many thanks.

I need to renew my car insurance in the next few days but I am also moving to a new address in under 3 weeks time. This new address offers me much cheaper car insurance. I don't use my car much and can do without using it all for 3 weeks. If it is parked on the road and fully taxed is it a legal requirement to insure the vehicle even if it isn't used. I can live with it being stolen or damaged but I wouldn't want to be fined for being uninsured. The only problem with insuring the vehicle under my current postcode is that I'm at the whim of the insurance companies to what discount they offer me when I actually move.
