Isn’t Minato 23? He’s 24 when the kyuubi attack happens, which I thought was just a year after Kanabi. Unless I missed something

The timeline surrounding

a) Kakashi’s age

b) Team Minato because of Kakashi’s age

c) When everything happened

Anyway, Kakashi made chuunin at 6 (canon) and was 14 when the Kyuubi attack happened (canon if he’s 26 in part one) and according to the databook was 9 years old at his Jounin promotion (Kannabi bridge mission) but the Databook is also like obviously nonsense 99% of the time wrt ages or figures or statistics about anything. …but,

Kakashi’s dad canonically died five years prior to Kannabi bridge, when he was clearly, like, four/five/maybe six? IMO the authorial intent is that it was either right before or right after Kakashi’s promotion to Genin, and his horrible baby career snowballing after his dad was no longer around to even ostensibly shield him makes sense to me.

Which makes “Kakashi was 9 or 10 years old during Kannabi bridge” like… sensible, to me, though the other convolution about team Minato is that they’re all supposed to be roughly the same age even though most of the math surrounding Kakashi + the fact that they attended the chuunin exams together (in a flashback where Kakashi doesn’t look his canon six years old) doesn’t add up (there would be an age gap if it did). (I don’t think Kishimoto actually intended to write an age gap).

I’m rambling whatever my point is that Kakashi was somewhere between 9 and 12 depending on how you cope with timeline problems (“everyone is just 12” response is equally valid because they’re drawn like that lol) and so Minato is somewhere between 19 and 22.

Personally I run with 19.

(I will say that giving Obito a few more years + more space to train under Madara after running off the deep end makes his fight with Minato click better to me too— if he’s a teenager but like, 16 or 17 to Kakashi’s 14.)
