Haii welcome to my Culture-is blog! Inspired by @plural-culture-is :33
You can call me "Mod Lacey" or just "Lacey"!! XD
One of our other system members will be doing this blog with me, "Mod Blitz" or just "Blitz"! :P
Very quickly, the dni! :)
Pro-contact paras - Racists - People who take part in "cringe culture" - And lastly, people who fakeclaim anyone for any reason! (Possibly adding more, very unlikely though! I want anyone 2 be able 2 participate here!!1 XD)
How do I send an ask?
Click the button that says "Read pinned please! :3" and then type in something starting with "Cringe culture is", here's an example of what you could send!
"Cringe culture is not caring what others think cause I already know I'm cringe! XP"
You could also do "Endogenic culture is", "Xenogender culture is", Neurodivergent culture is", etc etc! Anything that's typically considered cringe! :P
ALSO! If you send images, please add an ID (Image description)! We are bad at adding ID's so it'd be a big help!! XDD
What if I accidentally send an ask off-anon?
Just send another ask telling us you want us 2 blur your name, and we will!! We don't judge, mistakes happen!1! :P
Tagging system!
#Mod Lacey
When I post your ask
#Mod Blitz
When Blitz posts your ask
#Cringe Culture Is
This is the main hashtag :33
#Not cringe culture
Posts that don't have anything to do with the blogs main theme :33
#CCI vents
For vents! (CCI stands for: Cringe culture is)
#CCI long post
For long posts! (We don't have a set of what counts as long and what doesn't, but if you want us 2 tag something as long we will!! :DD)

sing
Yesterday I was singing in the shower and I was so shocked. Because when was I good at this?? And I realized, oh yeah! I've been good at this, I was just gaslit for so long I didn't sing in front of people for a couple of years. But now I realize, oh. I'm okay to do it now. And the amount of pure joy I felt was just amazing in the moment.
If anyone says you're bad at something, ignore them. You might be bad, but if it makes you happy? Who cares!

"Waa why aren't fandoms fun anymore" because you keep policing people's headcanons, make fun of cosplayers, make fun of selfshipers, make fun of beginner artists and just make fun of people for having fun 😐

WELCOME TO CRINGETOBER 2024
As promised, the list is here one month in advance to allow for preparation time! Just like last time, there are no hard rules. Just a fun exercise to draw things considered “cringe” by popular culture! No stress needed :)
I go more in depth on the list here, so check that out! of course, feel free to send asks my way if any questions remain <3
I’m really proud of this year’s list, honestly. And I’m incredibly excited for October! I hope everyone has fun!!

"We need to bring cringe/shame back" more like you need to learn how to sit with the discomfort of people liking and doing shit you don't like.
I myself sometimes feel it when I browse social media and then I remember that other people having fun isn't about me and guess what ? I stop feeling uneasy.
You don't viscerally need to say or do something about things you found cringe. You can just look away and mind your own business.

So much of what society treats as a joke is just mocking disability. Their idea of lazy is a disabled person trying to survive, whether that be living with their parents as an adult or using pre prepared food. Cringe culture is based entirely around mocking neurodivergent people and their interests. Symptoms and characteristics of disability such as urgency issues, drooling, tremors, tics, strabismus and speech impediments are used as cheap punchlines.
In children’s tv shows disabled characters such as those with speech impediments are treated as a joke, with symptoms of disability being portrayed as synonymous to stupid.
This idea is being taught from a young age in the media and it’s engrained into our language and culture. This goes beyond jokes, it contributes to the alienation of people with disabilities.
Once you start noticing these things you realise how constant and normalised it is.
Reducing an entire person to a punchline is wrong. Using a disability symptom as an insult is wrong. It’s disturbing how normalised it is to not treat people with basic decency and respect.

“Cringe culture is dead” isn’t just about letting 15 year olds cosplay MHA (but is also an issue). It’s about letting 50 year olds dance at clubs even if they’re “bad at it”, it's about letting 10 year old’s wear random bits of clothes to make an outfit that's “weird”, it’s about letting adult men experiment with artsy makeup looks even when they’re “messy”, it’s about letting teens scream music even if they “sound bad”.
“Cringe culture is dead” means letting people learn new hobbies at any age, experiment with their identity at any time, expressing themselves in ways outside the norm just as much as it means let 20 year olds play roblox.
Cringe culture is just social norms being forced on people rebelling against societies value consensus, it’s keeping people in brackets that are easier to market to.
Let cringe culture be dead in every aspect of life outside online spaces.

I know you're out there, somewhere on Tumblr. You have to be on Tumblr. You drive a red Prius. It proclaims you to be YAOIMOM. It was so excellent I had to pull over in stop and go traffic to take a picture of your car because it was pure perfection. I love you. I support you. I want to be your friend. You live for sure in my state and probably in my city and I want to hang out. You're clearly my kind of person.
If you see this and recognize yourself, reply or reblog if you want to be my friend. I'm not kidding. Let's get some kind of warm beverage at a neutral public space.

Cringe culture is unfortunately not dead but we can kill it in major spaces if we all keep being ourselves authentically and unapologetically. What they call "cringe" is actually pretty punk. It's defiance. Keep being yourselves, you're ALLOWED to exist as you are.

i think star trek will stay with me forever.
it has injected me with a permanent joy and whimsy and helped me unlearn shame/cringe culture. most importantly, it makes me see the good in humanity.
star trek has affected me in ways i never knew media could affect me. it keeps me optimistic about humanity’s future, and inspires me to do what is right no matter what. star trek makes me unashamed to be myself, however nerdy or silly I may be.
star trek is so important to me and i have a feeling it always will be.
