I only wanna try and beat Souls games once the servers are down and the temptation to steamroll everything with co-op is gone.
When that happened to DS1 I was motivated to beat it, then immediately beat NG+, then beat a randomized run, am now working on an SL1 run.
I still haven't beaten DS2, although I feel like I've done most of the stuff.
I guess one reason I lost steam was because I did a lot of it ass-backwards. At the very start I poked my head into Heide's Tower of Flame, saw big bois, and turned the fuck around. By the time I got back the whole area (and everything it leads to) was piss-easy.
The DLC stuff fucks the hardest and makes the base game feel easy and stupid (*if you do them before the latter half of the game). Who gives a fuck about the dragonriders after beating the Fume Knight?
Also, it feels like there's an extra gradation of challenge that goes straight into bullshit. When the game actually literally expects you to solo 5 npcs or fight flying respawning death horses on a featureless plain while walking in a straight line for an hour, I am turned off. It doesn't feel like a legitimate challenge anymore, and I want to skip it. Which sucks, because I want to at least try and beat all the bosses!
It's also very good, though! The character animation is a lot better than DS1, and I actually like the fact that there's consequences to going hollow (which can be mitigated if you sacrifice a ring slot). It's also cool that npcs invade no matter what, because in DS1 I missed a lot of encounters due to the aforementioned consequence-free hollowing. It's more interesting.
Also a good idea to have enemies despawn after being killed enough, although a few times it made me feel like I'm just banging my head against a boss until the run-up is clear, and then I'll really try to beat it. And an enemy can despawn who's programmed to trigger reinforcements, which can make the encounter harder if they're standing in a big group and would otherwise spread out.
A lot of the areas are really cool. It's a good medley of new concepts and remixed stuff from DS1. A lot of the zones feel more "video game dungeon-y" to me, with key items you have to collect to progress incrementally and environmental puzzles and shit. It's cool, it feels like Zelda.
Shulva is probably my favorite area (of what I have beaten). Just a big nasty dungeon crawl with a couple awesome boss fights. I would've been happy if credits rolled right after. I also thought I was making progress toward beating the game the entire time, so that was disappointing. In DS1 you wouldn't even know how to get to the DLC area without a guide, in DS2 you can just blunder in there thinking it's the way forward.

Anyway this game lets you be Wario so 12/10 GOTY GOAT etc. Everyone owes unreasonably buff Wario a blowjob. Please form an orderly line.

Soulsborne Final Bosses poorly explained
Dark Souls: God is senile, forcibly retire him.
Dark Souls 2: Lich King Cersei Lannister tricked you into doing her dirty work or Treebeard with the One Ring beats your ass.
Dark Souls 3: Parry all you want, you can’t parry the feels.
Sekiro: Swordsman hatches from grandson, shoots you in face.
Bloodborne: Local paraplegic regains use of legs specifically to kick your ass. Failing that, the moon does it for him.
Elden Ring: Kill God’s malesona and pet amoeba.

I refuse to learn the intended way down. This is how 12 year old me figured out how to get down there when playing on the ps3, so it must be right.

Sometimes, I feel obsessed… with this insignificant thing called "self".
But even so, I am compelled to preserve it.
Am I wrong to feel so? Surely you'd do the same, in my shoes?

Some Curse Bearer and Lucatiel in the Rain...
(I was gonna draw the Chosen Undead and Oscar of Astora but decided to go with the Curse Bearer and Lucatiel instead and do the DS1 Characters later...)
