A Bureau of Land Management worker posted this video on their facebook page saying that they “captured this strange ‘thing’ swimming in the Chena River in Fairbanks”. The ‘creature’ in this video was soon named the Alaska Ice Monster and spread like wildfire. Theories started flying about what this was. An Alaskan Nessie? Some kind of arctic crocodile? A giant fish? 

It boils down to something much simpler: frazil ice stuck to a rope that is attached to a nearby pier. Frazil ice is soft ice that cannot completely freeze due to turbulent water. While the ‘creature’ seems to be moving in the water, a rope is merely swaying in the current.

Hailing from his own alternate reality, "Acolyte" Mikey & his brothers had a very different childhood than the mad Dogs we all know and love. Set in a feudal Japan-esque world, Mikey and his brothers were raised under the Ninja Tribunal in a remote temple as future protectors of humanity...

However, fate was unkind to the lackadaisical Michelangelo who doubted the legend of the foretold 'Krang Invasion'-- let alone it happening much sooner than anticipated.

Inspired by the 2003 "Acolyte" Arc, Mikey and his brothers were given to the Ninja Tribunal as children to raise as warriors on account of being gifted with mystic abilities; something very rare and unheard of in their universe.

Mikey was the most mystically inclined of his brothers. Because of this, he doesn't take training very seriously. He's also the oldest brother in his universe, but takes that role very, very seriously.

Splinter was their "father"... however, he was the one who gave them to the Ninja Tribunal. And they weren't exactly 'lenient' with children. Not when their purpose was to become warriors to defend the world. Because of this, Mikey hates Splinter. With every fiber in his body.

But despite their upbringing, Mikey was fun and kind.

But homie cannot cook to save his life

However, due to events during the invasion... Mikey is the last man standing. On the whole planet.

And he Snaps

With elevated powers and grief, Mikey traverses the heavens to hunt Krang and their settlements.

He uses dried Krang blood as his mask, having lost his in battle (and Krang blood dries orange when oxidized)

He dots his yellow spots with a drop of Krang blood to mirror Krang eyes. Using mystic abilities, the faux eyes can move and "look" around too. Terrifying.

However, due to classic Hamato shenanigans— 'Acolyte' Mikey may find himself drawn to a very, very different place than a Krang settlement 👀👀👀

Imagine slowly becoming nonhuman. Something ancient and alien is infecting you, slowly replacing your tissue. You've been told that there are some treatments to keep more of your humanity for longer, but you'll lose it eventually nomatter what.

Every day you feel it slowly spreading throughout you. Slowly taking bits and pieces of you and replacing them with this alien biomechanical body. At first people act like you're going to die, but you realize you're not going to die. Mabye it would be easier if you did.

You lose things internally at first. Your mind starts working slightly differently. Then you eat for the last time. Sleep for the last time. Make love for the last time. You slowly lose these parts of you. There's a point in time when you can't pass for human without wearing clothing on most of your body, and then eventually you can only pass at night, and then not at all.

Your freinds started out supportive but mournful. But some of them tended to get more and more uncomfortable around you as you kept getting less and less human. Some stayed with you of course, but some seem more distant now, and others seem to not want to interact at all.

The more you become comfortable in your new body, and deal with it better, the more other people seem to be mourning you as if you were dead. Your family doesn't even want to talk to you anymore. It feels like everyone acts like it would have been far more convenient if the transformation killed you. If they could mourn you in peace.

Your new body feels so strange. You're mostly covered in a metalic shell now, with little bits of flesh between the gaps. Your build is slender and sexless now, your legs have three sets of joints like a predatory animal, your face looks like a strange reflection of a gas mask. The only thing that remains of your old body is long black hair flowing from your head. For whatever reason you don't mind the change. You think so differently now then you used to, you feel like a diffrent person, but it's hard to think of it as bad, it's who you are, and you can't bring yourself to hate you.

Eventually you run into someone who was your girlfriend back when you were human. You realize it's been awhile since you've talked to her. You have new freinds now, people who are like you or who are used to people like you. You realize she could never be your girlfriend again, but she could still be your freind. You talk to her a bit, and she seems to like you this way, she hugs you, it feels so warm with how cold your new body is, you didn't expect her to want to hug this version of you.

so many variables like is it an isekai? does he know nightwing's identity? was it just a random coincidence? and like, dick has the skills and experience to breeze past that and not let anything show, but i think it'd be Way funnier if this was an isekai au and vines didn't exist in the dc universe. or at least not that specific one. so dick breezes past it but is also mentally freaking out like "shit that sounded really sincere... does he know? how would he know? there's no way he knows. does he know??"

Hey there Lovelies! Holy Moly! What a week it's been, and it's only Tuesday!! I cannot tell you how nice it is to see so many folks so excited! It's like we got an injection of pure dopamine from all the news, and I'm so happy it's helping everyone feel a little levity!

And you know what?

You deserve a break!

You deserve to feel happy!

It's been a lot lately, and some people might try to shame you for being happy about something while there's so much not so happy going on in the world, but please oh please remember, that you deserve to have happiness too.

Even if it's just a little here or there, or bounds of happiness -- you deserve a break from all the things you have to deal with every day. You deserve a chance to smile, and to laugh, and to enjoy this crazy life we live, and bask in the warm sun, or the cold wind.

You do not need to feel bad for enjoying yourself once in a while. No matter what it is-- even if its unrelated to the fandom, or anything that's happened the last couple days, please go out today or tomorrow and enjoy something.

Do you like tea? Drink a cup of your favorite tea!

Do you like going for walks? Get on out there and move those legs!

Do you like animals? Find a random neighborhood cat (not a wild one) and give it some much needed pets if it's friendly!

Do something that brings YOU joy, not anyone else. Take a moment to savor that feeling, hold it deep down in your chest where you can feel your breath coming in and out, and remember that you deserve to feel that joy, and you don't have to do anything different, or be any different to deserve it. 💖 Sending so many good vibes lovelies-- may your day be filled with excitement and wonder, or calm and love, whatever it is that will brings you joy. 💖

They're all out having fun, pretending to be normal teens because what else are they to do after having fought in multiple spirit-world wars? They're still just teenagers to some extent. Except they're also not. Ichigo less than any of them. Someone's taking pictures and suddenly they're all freaking out over the otherworldly glow on Ichigo's eyes.

What the vizards had never bothered to tell him (and he'd never experienced with the arrancar either) was that all hollow eyes reflect light like animals. No matter how human they looked and- well, it seems like Ichigo's got one more thing to hide from his human classmates on top of the fangs and the pointy ears 🫠.

Extra: Ichigo staring in disbelief at yet another inhuman bodily feature he wasn't aware of. =_=

Ichigo now hides from all cameras, afraid the flash will make him look like more of a freak... too bad his friends are fckn insane and now it's become a game to see who can present more and better "cryptid Ichigo" pictures to the group. 🥴✨

Queer Cryptidcore

Cryptids are inherently queer. Not gay as in homosexual, necessarily, but queer as in what is that? Queer as in, “there aren’t words for what I am, and the more people try to make them up the weirder they get.” Queer as in, “oh, that's you? Yeah, I think I’ve heard of that, my cousin’s sister’s friend dated somebody like you once.”

Queer community spreads and forms by word-of-mouth, is what I’m saying; likewise so do cryptid tales, the eyewitness accounts that bring the story into color and focus and reality. In the time and place where I grew up, transgender people were less real than the jackalope. I mean, I’d seen way more physical evidence for the jackalope.

There are plenty of killjoys who will tell you that neither really exists, that reality is as flat and boring as a gradeschool textbook. There are people who will look straight at the evidence, directly at a queer person right in front of them, and go, "no, that's fake, I'm seeing something else here, something that makes more sense to me." I've had this done to me, more than once. It's fucking surreal.

So how can I not empathize with the Mothman? I know what it's like for people to not believe I exist, because their world doesn't allow for me in it. I too have a label that doesn't really signpost anything; non-binary signifies what I am not, but it doesn't clearly say anything about what I am. The Mothman isn't a moth or a man, either. The name can't clearly define what he is. There's no clear definition to be had.
