Obscure song tournament, babyyyy. Submit your fav obscure songs (or YOUR obscure songs) and find some new favourites as you vote :-3

Multiple submissions of a song will not help it get in! But I’m not going to disqualify songs submitted multiple times like last year, because that seemed scary for the submitters <3

It will be open until I have about 300 submissions, then I will look over submissions in order of least listeners to most !!

I think itll take a week or two after sumbissions close to do all the seeding !

Id prefer if you didn’t submit songs/artists that were in the running last year but like its chill if your guy didn’t win. Sorry forgetmenauts fans, at least choose a new song !

I submitted some fictionalised version of historical figures. Is this ok? Since they’re not accurate depictions of the people who share their name.

This is another vague area that in practice, I have to treat with some level of individual consideration for each nomination, however I checked which nomination is (most likely) yours and I will say firmly that your character will not be making it into the bracket. To avoid ambiguity and cut straight to the point, the real life version of this character was a slave owner, and I do not feel that (even in a parody/rewritten form) slave owners should have a place in this competition. I hope you will understand where I'm coming from with this

alright so here's the current plan with the nominations to the main tourney, not the oc tourney. tomorrow will decide if i'm closing them early or not. if we get a bunch of submissions and it turns out the last 2 days were just slow, then they'll continue to stay open until friday at least. if we continue only getting a handful of submissions, then submissions will close wednesday the 10th, 11:59 pm PST

Round two instructions

Just a quick post to help clarify the next round. We're now winnowing down the submissions to get the top 6 in each category.

Submissions will be gathered under four categories, and posted under a cut, where you can vote for your favs!

Tumblr has an image limit of 30 images, and for the Promo Event and Concert category we got a whopping 40 images and 60+ images per section, so they will have to be split into two posts. It will be fairly straight forward though!

We will have 6 posts, One for Music Video, one for Magazine, two for Promo Event, and two for Concert.

In each category you will have the chance to vote for your favorites. In each post you will have three votes.

Every different outfit will be numbered. Each person gets three votes per post, and can choose their top three images by commenting. 

For example, you can comment under a post: I choose 21, 9, and 8!

Each image you choose gets one vote. If you are biased you can do this:

I choose 11, 11, and 11

PLEASE be cutthroat. It will both be funny, and help us winnow down the images.

The top images will be chosen by the highest number of votes cast.

The top six in each category will then progress to the next round.

For the split categories Concert and Promo Event, there will be two posts each, and we will get the top 3 from each post, to create a top 6 in that category to go on to the next round. I hope this makes sense!

it's too late for me to add but got any advice for anyone else for what to put for concrete evidence/propaganda bc mine were just incoherent ramblings abt how theyre ride or die besties lmao

here's some stuff i put down for anyone who wants inspiration!!

they have canonically confirmed to be A Couple/a family, but not in any romantic regard

jaiden has called them "soulmates"

ofc. how ride or die they are for each other

how important they are to each other (roier healing from the past betrayals he faced by opening up and trusting jaiden; how when jaiden felt like she had no one, roier was always there for her)

roier is married but jaiden is STILL a super important part of his life!! and his husband acknowledges that!!

jaiden being aroace and roier being gay(? i think his character has stated that before). either way. they do not see each other in any sort of romantic light

their relationship is treated with the same level of respect/importance as roier's romantic relationship

they raised a kid together!! they lived together and slept next to each other!! to the point where people DID think they were romantically involved/married, bc that's what is stereotypically seen as things only a romantic pairing does

they would and have given up everything for each other

SUBMISSIONS FOR THE LOSER'S BRACKET ARE OPEN!

Welcome to the Loser's Bracket submissions! If you don't know how it works, here's a rundown:

For about a week, I will have nominations open for the Loser's Bracket. Nominate as many characters as you want who were in the tournament but have lost, but do not nominate someone more than once or someone who wasn't in the main tournament. (All contestants who lost prior to the semifinals have a shot to be nominated.)

After the Loser's Bracket nominations have been recorded, I will take the top 16 most nominated characters and begin the Loser's Bracket, which will last 4 rounds. Each round will last only a day, unlike the main tournament, where each round lasted a week.

The winner of the Loser's Bracket will have an honorary place on the podium and be mentioned in the finals winners post.

All propaganda for the Loser's Bracket will be unique, so feel free to write more propaganda on why you think they deserve this second chance.

I will stop taking nominations the day that the semifinals poll is over, as I want to start the Loser's Bracket the day the finals go up.

Will it be canon? Probably not. This is about how the fandom sees these characters. But who will enter the tournament?

That is up to you!

Who are the characters you think are super gay? (Did you read that in Franky voice? I did.) You can submit them now! You can submit one character or multiple characters, and they can be of all genders, don't restrict yourself!

I think I'll start with 16 characters in the first round, (unless there are a lot of nominations, then maaaaybe I'll do 32, but I'm not sure I want to do that to myself) and they will be the characters with the most nominations, so make sure you send in yours.

I think "weird" is the wrong word to describe the entries, everyone has their own reasons to submit their characters and it's not my place to judge that, not at all/nm.

With that in mind, the person who submitted every single Peanuts character one could possibly imagine just an hour before the form closed definitely caught me off guard. Godspeed to that person, not a single one had a given explanation either, hope they're doing well.

I've finished looking through the submissions for the Best Mechanisms Quote/Line bracket! 40 submissions gave us 169 different quotes! So many! I have the general quote and number of nominations together, but I have yet to go through and double check exact wording and punctuation for most of them, so no full list tonight sadly.
