the best thing that came from twilight existing was the contrapoints video about it and I’m dying on this hill but who can disagree with the basic point

"Twilight was a major mainstream book about a teenage female protagonist who wanted something!" I'm just convinced none of you on the book site read books at this point tbh

#i mean i loved the contrapoints video bc it showed how even behind a trashy ™️ book #there is a WHOLE lot to unpack wrt themes tropes and what they mean #and tbf i doubt steph was aware of most of that #but like tldr i think trashy books for teenagers should be taken at face value #like is most of that shit well written IN GENERAL hell no #does it do the job which is letting teenage girls fantasize abt absolutely normal stuff in most cases #should they be taken as high literature or role models of anything no #idg people trashing it because teenage girls liked it like why do you gaf #but making it a feminist opus or smth on account of that….. man #no it’s a trashy vampire romance that got lucky please don’t make it into smth its not #but like… that’s what happens when ppl think literature ends and begins with ya #before anyone is at my throat for that AGAIN ya is a specific thing if you just read that fine but don’t presume it defines anything bc no #ngl this is applicable to other series that aren’t twilight but i’mma shut up bc everyone knows what i mean #and no one needs me to waste time elaborating on that #but like there’s nothing inherently wrong in ppl enjoying bad books or whatever #just don’t incense them in the name of shit they’re not #queue of the beam #literature #twilight
