i am fascinated by the way Nordic Bunny 'pops' his minions...at first glance, you'd think he has a gun which shoots a laser from his palm, right? but if we look closely we can see Nordic summoning some kind of energy with a flick of the wrist...👀 the energy around him actually shows up before he properly moves his palm, almost as if he's pulling something out of the ether or generating it himself through sheer force of will? what is it? magic? energy? the spirit/power/etc. of rock? 🤘🎸

it feels better biting down.
ah. seems like you're interrupting... something. maybe just close the door and back away slowly? at the very least, nora seems fine.
still frames, ID, and notes under the cut!
[video ID: a three second looping video depicting Weiss biting Nora's neck. Nora, a pale young woman with neck-length spiky orange hair and freckles, has her back to the viewer, pressed up against a wooden crate. she twists her neck to look over her shoulder, one teal-blue eye is visible, as well as a light blush on her face. she wears a black vest with her hammer emblem in blue on the back, her metal neck brace, and a white muscle shirt. these have been partially undone and pushed to her right shoulder to bare her neck. Weiss, a paler, blushing young woman with bright blue eyes, and white bangs and a long ponytail, clings to Nora. She buries her right hand in Nora's hair, tugging her head at its awkward angle. With her left hand, she pushes Nora's clothes away from her neck. Weiss has her upper fangs in Nora's neck, the wounds from which have soaked her skin and clothes in blood. Weiss' body from the neck down is almost completely hidden behind Nora, with only one red earring and the red inner collar of her bolero jacket visible. Both Nora and Weiss' gazes are locked on the viewer; their expressions are shy and irritated respectively. a dark filter with a stripe of light on them suggests a door has been opened to reveal them. while the image is mostly fixed/static, two elements are animated: 1) various sparks of pink lightning dance around Nora and 2) Weiss' eyes glow and fade from her natural blue eyes to a bright, almost white color. end ID]

as always, when i draw something and post it this far ahead (this is volume 2), i'm always going to leave out some spoilers. consider this a heavily idealized/romanticized memory of a series canon scene. one guess for whose memory it is. when we get to this point in v2, i will happily reveal the spot the difference answers between this and the written scene. maybe i'll comm someone to draw an accurate redo of it...
anyways! i'm very happy with this piece :3 it revived all my ssvau brainworms that had taken a hit because of Life and also reset my 'if i don't get to this scene chronologically i will perish' goalpost as well! because the first bite was a major milestone. this is the next milestone. and i, for one, cannot wait! ヾ(•ω•`)o
her pulse in my throat will be back next wednesday!

nations and their little "tells" of how long they've lived
there is definitely a post somewhere about this but whatever this is my hadcanon xD
-England and his three big bros are the prime example of "going a little crazy", they've been alive so long and half of it through the Mideival Era that they've lost concept of a lot of stuff. Like their touch with reality is a little screwed and you definitley notice they don't quite get some stuff, like they'll miss empathy cues or slip into mannerisms from days long past. Use old English, etc. They're the wacky cousins that ar just a bit confused but they're trying, even if they get on everyone's nerves a bit. Also they're still figuring out how emails work, because while their personalities change according to their people their actual knowledge doesn't always keep up.
-Russia, i think that one's obvious, man's had such a time that he's spent so long plastering a smile that he's basically forgotten how not to not smile. And you can't undo centuries in a day. You see his true nation age when he takes everything and doesn't bother trying to question it no matter how ridiculous, when he stops a tank with his bare hands and walks it off, when he's surprised people don't usually try to jump out planes without parachutes.
-countries with violet eyes like Canada, Iceland, Norway- they blend in too well, they resemble the quiet kid in the back of the class (personal headcanon it indicatess magical inclination). You realize they're not quite human when Norway turns his head and hos haircurl floats midair and his gaze is just a bit too knowing, when Iceland makes a remark well beyond his physical age and you remember he's a thousand years old, when Canada- actually no the bear is enough proof.
-And then there's China and Japan, two old men who look young but have that sense of knowing more then they let on like Norway but without the creepy blank look that comes when one has Seen Too Much. Instead they travel through life like they don't have a care, as if every day is a lfietime in Neverland. Especially China. Japan also just looks tired all the time even if he isn', from stress lines that never go away.
-Prussia is that fun work colleague who suddenly turns into a history nerd out of nowhere and then flips back to normal wild mode. He's the one who tells tales like he actually was there, he and the wrest lf the BTT really. It's like they rememebr, because they do.
-Meanwhile Lithuania and Finland seem normal enough- good hardoqrking young men doing good woek. But thebmoment they're attacked, their eyes blaze and it's like an aura radiates lff them. And you know they're stronger then they look, that they won't go down without a fight. And you'll probably be the one going down no matter how strong you think you are, because they're nations and they will always hve more power and centuries of experience. Even if it's been years and they aren't superpowers, they have the muscle memory. It's engrained into their very being, it's a part of them and if you approach them the wrong way you might get dropkicked by accident.
-Countries like Denmark and America- their smiles are just off. Denmark's is too sharp, just a amidge too much, and America's is too wide, like he's trying tok hard when it's just his natural face.
-and then there's austrailia and new zealand who are the reason Florida started fighting alligators and convinced their residents to start doing it too "for the YouTube views", forgetting rhat moat people don't have instahealing or can come back from the dtad.

Stunning 1,500-Year-Old Gold Ring Unearthed in Denmark
An amateur metal detectorist in Denmark has unearthed a rare gold ring that may have belonged to a previously unknown royal family with ties to the Kingdom of France.
Lars Nielsen discovered the large, ornately decorated gold ring, set with a red semiprecious stone, while exploring Emmerlev, a parish in Southern Jutland, Denmark, according to a translated statement. The ring dates to the fifth or sixth century.
“Such a unique and one-of-a-kind find is completely surreal,” Nielsen said in the statement.
Researchers at the National Museum of Denmark determined that the piece of jewelry has much “historical significance” and may have belonged to local royalty connected to the Merovingians, a dynasty of Frankish kings who ruled over parts of what is now France, Belgium and Germany between the fifth and eighth centuries.
“The gold ring not only reveals a possible new princely family in Emmerlev, but also connects the area with one of Europe’s largest centers of power in the Iron Age,” Kirstine Pommergaard, an archaeologist and curator at the National Museum of Denmark, said in the statement.
“The gold ring is probably a woman’s ring and may have belonged to a prince’s daughter who was married to a prince in Emmerlev. Gold is typically [a] diplomatic gift, and we know that people have married into alliances.”

Exquisite craftsmanship of the gold ring
Researchers based the ring’s royal connection on its exquisite craftsmanship, which includes “well-executed spirals on the underside and trefoil knobs” where the ring and stone setting meet — a characteristic often associated with Frankish craftsmanship, according to the statement.
“It is an impressive level of craftsmanship that is difficult to imitate today,” Pommergaard said.
The ring’s red stone also offers clues to its ownership, since similar stones are well-known symbols of power in the Nordics, “while the elite gold rings of the Merovingians are typically set with a coin or a plaque, like a signet ring,” the researchers said in the statement. “This shows that the ring was to serve as a symbol of power in the Nordics.”
“Perhaps the princely family in Emmerlev had control over an area between Ribe [a town in Southwest Jutland] and Hedeby [a Danish Viking Age trading settlement in what is now Germany] and thus secured trade in the area,” Pommergaard said.
The ring’s location was a few miles away from previously found artifacts — including a collection of gold and silver coins, pottery and first-century golden horns — leading experts to think the item wasn’t lost but rather intentionally placed in the area.
“The person who had the ring probably also knew about the people who had the golden horns,” Anders Hartvig, a medieval archaeologist at Museum Sønderjylland, said in the statement.
“Maybe they were related. Together with other recent finds, it paints a picture that Southern Jutland has had a greater influence than previously thought, and that the Wadden Sea was not closed in on itself, but had an aristocratic presence with important trade links to the south.”
