My piece for @hotguycalendar The Views of Hermitcraft! I drew The Astral Library, Season Nine's Nether Hub for the month of August. I've always wanted to draw it, so this was the perfect opportunity! This was a lovely experience.

Piglin

Hog-folk of the infernal nether. They’re in a post-apocalyptic state now, but they were once the most advanced civilization in Minecraft, even trumping the Ancient Builders. They use machines instead of magic.

Sows are slightly larger and fatter than males, with smaller tusks. Boars are more muscular, with bony faces and coarse black manes. Boars often adorn themselves with jewelry, body paint, and the like, to woo sows, and bachelors marry into groups run by old matriarchs. Sows of high rank in bastions usually have a harem of males serving both as concubines and bodyguards. Piglin are for the most part polyamorous.

They communicate in Piglish, a mixture of signing and vocalisations. Complex sentences are signed, and sounds are used as emotive context clues, like auditory tone tags.

Skilled at mimicry and being a general nuisance, the Crimson Forest Crows are finally here!!! (They’re so red,,, I love them sm)

PHYSICAL NOTES:

Long display tail feathers

Red-tinted feathers help to blend in

Covered in netherrack dust and red spores

BEHAVIORAL NOTES:

Often nest in the treetops of crimson forests and in bastions.

Most shiny-driven of all Nether Crows (LOVE gold!)

Enjoy netherrack dust baths!

Often follow piglins and act as messengers/companions. (Sometimes steal from them)

Clever little tricksters ( mostly friendly though!)

Great at mimicry (imitate other mob sounds)

OTHER NOTES:

Feathers have a reddish tint

Feathers help with camouflage

Long tail feathers

Long racket-like feathers on both sides!

NOTE: Like to mimic ghasts, piglins, and hotline to scare intruders (and for pranks). Stay vigilant.
