In honor of Women's History month, I just want to remind people that some of the most influential and popular manga in the anime community are written/illustrated by women. And I'm not just talking about groundbreaking shojo like Sailor Moon, Fruits Basket, Card Captor Sakura, or Black Butler (or things like Chihayafuru, Migi to Dali, Sakamoto Desu ga?, Nana, Natsume Yuujincho, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Violet Evergarden, A Silent Voice, and a million more). To be clear, those series are also amazing, and I'm not demeaning them in any way. They deserve just as much respect as everything else.
But right now I'm talking about shōnen series or series that are usually marketed towards men specifically or have appeared in shōnen magazines. I mean things like:
Beastars, made by Paru Itagaki (fun fact: she's the daughter of Keisuke Itagaki, the author of Baki! I guess it runs in the family 😆)
Gangsta, by Kohske
Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic by Shinobu Ohtaka (which I promise isn't what my screen name is a reference to, even though I love this show).
D.Gray Man by Katsura Hoshino
Dorohedoro by Q Hayashida
To Your Eternity by Yoshitoki Ōima
Mushishi, made by Yuki Urushibara (aka Soyogo Shima).
Noragami which is written by two women, collectively named Adachitoka, similarly to romance author duo Christina Lauren.
Blue Exorcist by Kazue Kato
Dungeon Meshi aka Delicious In Dungeon by Ryoko Kui
Inuyasha (and Ranma 1/2 and Urasai Yatsura) by the absolute legend Rumiko Takahashi, which I know for a fact served as a gateway anime for a shit ton of people across generations (but especially for people my age).
I have to shout out Posuka Demizu, who illustrated The Promised Neverland, which is my favorite manga series. She may have given the characters weird looking facial proportions, but damn if she ain't one of the most detail oriented (and sneakiest) artists out there.
And finally, a little story you may know called Fullmetal Alchemist, written by Hiromu Arakawa (who also wrote Silver Spoon, the most recent manga version of The Heroic Legend of Arslan and lots of other stuff but I wanted to highlight those two specifically).
There's also been speculation that a little unknown manga called...what was it again?...Oh yeah, DEMON SLAYER is written by a woman (I don't care if the Hashira Training arc is terrible, there is still a lot I love about the writing and characters and fight scenes). But Koyoharu Gotouge's gender hasn't been confirmed so it's still just a theory.
idk, I just love women.

You (Nevermatch) made a post about Ta'Nat a bit ago and I'd love to know more if there's anything you'd be willing to share
Hi! Yes, I'm definitely willing to share about Ta'Nat! So, this has already featured in my AO3 work Tales of a Lost World, but it's one of the most comprehensive groups of words I've got. This one covers family members; hope you enjoy!
Ta'veka (or veka) = Family (pr. tɑ'veɪkɑ) (Literally translated, it means 'people-group', but it is the proper term for family. The word veka can also be used to say family, but it is an informal way of saying it, and somewhat relies on context.)
Baba = Father/Dad (pr. bɑbɑ)
Nana = Mother/Mom (pr. nɑnɑ)
Kato = Brother (pr. kɑtoʊ)
Tada = Sister (pr. tɑdɑ)
Bota = Son (pr. boʊtɑ)
Tana = Daughter (pr. tɑnɑ)
Kato’nana = Brother of Mother (pr. kɑtoʊ’nɑnɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Ka'na in informal settings)
Kato’baba = Brother of Father (pr. kɑtoʊ’bɑbɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Ka'ba in informal settings)
Tada’nana = Sister of Mother (pr. tɑdɑ’nɑnɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Da'na in informal settings)
Tada’baba = Sister of Father (pr. tɑdɑ’bɑbɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Ta'ba in informal settings)
Bo’ka’nana = Son of Brother of Mother (pr. boʊ’kɑ’nɑnɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Bo'ka'na in informal settings)
Ta’ka’nana = Daughter of Brother of Mother (pr. tɑ’kɑ’nɑnɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Ta'ka'na in informal settings)
Bo’ta’nana = Son of Sister of Mother (pr. boʊ’tɑ’nɑnɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Bo'ta'na in informal settings)
Ta’ta’nana = Daughter of Sister of Mother (pr. tɑ’tɑ’nɑnɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Ta'ta'na in informal settings)
Bo’ka’baba = Son of Brother of Father (pr. boʊ’kɑ’bɑbɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Bo'ka'ba in informal settings)
Ta’ka’baba = Daughter of Brother of Father (pr. tɑ’kɑ’bɑbɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Ta'ka'ba in informal settings)
Bo’ta’baba = Son of Sister of Father (pr. boʊ’tɑ’bɑbɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Bo'ta'ba in informal settings)
Ta’ta’baba = Daughter of Sister of Father (pr. tɑ’tɑ’bɑbɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Ta'ta'ba in informal settings)
Tana’tada = Daughter of Sister (pr. tɑnɑ’tɑdɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Ta'ta in informal settings)
Tana’kato = Daughter of Brother (pr. tɑnɑ’kɑtoʊ)(frequently abbreviated as Ta'ka in informal settings)
Bota’tada = Son of Sister (pr. boʊtɑ’tɑdɑ)(frequently abbreviated as Bo'da in informal settings)
Bota’kato = Son of Brother (pr. boʊtɑ’kɑtoʊ)(frequently abbreviated as Bo'ka in informal settings)
Baba’de (‘baba/’nana) = Greater Father (of father/mother) (pr. bɑbɑ’deɪ)(frequently abbreviated to just Baba'de or Ba'de'ba/na in informal settings, provided there's no chance for confusion. Other definers are frequently added, such as his name or a pet name [like Grandpa instead of Grandfather])
Nana’de (‘baba/’nana) = Greater Mother (of father/mother) (pr. nɑnɑ’deɪ)(frequently abbreviated to just Nana'de or Na'de'ba/na in informal settings, provided there's no chance for confusion. Other definers are frequently added, such as her name or a pet name [like Granny instead of Grandmother])

Only time can tell, and it will often rest on what Aphra does and the reactions of others, like Marika's partner, Cass.

My author's note:
After finishing "The Corona Chronicles" (listed as an inspiration), a while back, I decided to bring Cass, Marika, and Raps into this series, along with other characters, as I wanted to tie both of them together, especially if they meet again in the future. I had a lot of fun writing this fic and am excited to keep going with this series. Future parts will feature characters from Korra, Metallic Rouge, Nana, and RWBY, to name a few! I hope you all enjoy this wild crossover. As always, comments (including constructive criticism) is welcome. Please let me know if there are any other series you think would work as good crossovers with Aphra.

Live Audience Ranking
Note: this only includes the LIVE audience of the performances in ep3+4, plus the additional 3,000 bonus votes. Whoever won out of the two groups that performed the song got 3,000 bonus votes.
Second note: These are essentially useless rankings as they weren't actual fan votes submitted online/through mobile.
Third note: Tumblr hates ties in lists. Use the vote count to determine a tie. Most everything from rank 36 onward is a tie.

Dog Signal Episode 14 Review - Grieving Over A Loved One
Wow, that was quite an emotional episode. I did NOT expect it to get this heavy; it came out of left field and smacked me in the face so that it’d make me cry. You know what? I did shed tears watching this episode. Despite that, it was a really good one.
Niwa and Miyu get their first male client in Mr. Kato who is worried about his son’s Golden Retriever Rocky who hasn’t moved from his deceased son Takehiro’s shrine for over a year. He’s worried about how he didn’t move and is even urinating in unwanted areas because of it. When Niwa and Miyu go check him out, it turns out that his muscles have atrophied a lot, his paws because a reddish-brown hue due to licking and his elbows have calluses from excessive laying. It’s not a good sign for the dog to be in, especially since he’s getting up to the years—the dog is 11 years old. It turns out that the problem lies in his wife, Mrs. Kato who believes Rocky is mourning Takehiro’s death and refuses to let him leave the shrine. Fortunately, the dog is able to recover quickly because he was well-trained and easy to handle.
First off, I feel so bad for the Kato family. They had a son but he died right before he went to college, meaning he was 18 when he died. He was still at the prime of his youth. I’m sure the parents are devastated that their son was taken away from them so early. Takehiro had dreams and aspirations, but misfortunate came to him. It’s so sad to see parents lose their child. I pity Mrs. Kato for not being able to mourn for her son properly. It must be really hard to lose someone you just saw yesterday and realize that they aren’t coming back anymore. Because she couldn’t mourn properly, she projected her grief onto Rocky who was just sitting next to her in order to help alleviate her emotions. Because she believed Rocky was the one who was mourning and not her, she could move on, but she wasn’t truly moving on. I know that what Mrs. Kato was doing was technically abuse, but I can’t really bring myself to hate her because she was and is in a pitiful situation. Fortunately, she still has Rocky and her husband who have moved on from his death.
I also like that this case is a bit of a parallel with Niwa’s past in a way, as Miyu noticed. Niwa lost his dad, dog and seems to be distant from his mother. In Mrs. Kato’s case, she lost her son, but she still has her dog and husband who seems to be in good terms with. Despite that, Niwa has moved on, but the pain of losing his dog is still there. His stern face is because he’s holding back his tears. That’s rather funny, but also sadly cute in a way. I love how Miyu’s trying be understanding towards the case due to Niwa’s past and he’s also learning about cases like this. There is valuable information in this episode: dogs have short and long term memory. Dogs have good memory, but Niwa actually lied to Mrs. Kato in order to give her a wakeup call. An example of good memory is Rocky looking at Mrs. Kato’s behavior and going back to his spot. I love that Miyu ponders about a dog’s memories and hopes that Singe will have him in his memories for a long time. That’s so sweet. I really love it when Miyu’s thoughts are voiced out in the end; it’s like he’s writing a diary of his experience.
I’m always amazed by the voice actor casting for the minor characters. Mr. Kato is voiced by Kentaro Ito, who is known for voicing Renji Abarai from Bleach and Chouji from Naruto. Mrs. Kato is voiced by THE Nana Mizuki. Anime fans might recognize her for numerous roles like Hinata Hyuga from Naruto and Utau Hoshino from Shugo Chara. She’s also a prolific singer. If you’re familiar with the song Discotheque, she’s the singer. It’s crazy how they got three members of the Uzumaki family in this show already; we got Minato Namikaze as Niwa’s dad, Naruto Uzumaki as Ms. Kadota from Episode 8 and now Hinata in this episode. It’d be hilarious if Kushina, Boruto, Himawari and Kawaii’s voice actors make an appearance in later episodes, but I doubt it.
I love that the lesson for this episode is to not impose your own personal feelings onto your pets because they do not comprehend them. People do have a tendency to try and humanize their pets. Niwa’s lecture really hit home. I should be a bit more careful when it comes to understanding my dogs now. I can’t wait to see what next week has in store because this anime is so comforting and beautiful with life lessons revolving around pets. If you have seen this episode, what are your thoughts?

Battle Royale II: Requiem (Kenta Fukasaku, Kinji Fukasaku, 2003)
Cast: Tatsuya Fujiwara, Ai Maeda, Shugo Oshinari, Ayana Sakai, Haruka Suenaga, Yuma Ishigaki, Miyuki Kanbe, Nana Yanagisawa, Masaya Kikawada, Yōko Maki, Yuki Ito, Natsuki Kato, Aki Maeda. Riki Takeuchi, Sonny Chiba. Screenplay: Kenta Fukasaku, Norio Kida. Cinematography: Toshihiro Isomi. Production design: Emiko Tsuyuki. Film editing: Hirohide Abe. Music: Masamichi Amano.
I suspect that anyone watching Battle Royale II: Requiem after the Hamas attack on Israel will have a different reaction to it than those who watched it before. It's a movie in which the heroes are terrorists: We even get a repeated shot in which they blow up two identical tall buildings. The first Battle Royale (Kinji Fukasaku, 2000) was an easy movie to get caught up in because it was fast and often funny, and the premise of a government of an overpopulated Japan selecting teenagers to kill off one another in a televised game show format was ridiculous enough that you could easily distance yourself from the movie. But the sequel, begun by Kinji Fukasaku but completed after his death by his son, Kenta, isn't so inventive, and the heroic terrorist premise is hard to swallow. It reunites some of the survivors of the earlier film's massacre who are part of a worldwide crusade against adults in general. This time, they're holed up on the island where they fought in the earlier film, and a class of ninth graders from a Japanese middle school for troubled kids is forced to storm the island and defeat the terrorists. But once they land on the island, after a sequence obviously designed to remind the viewer of the D-Day landing in Saving Private Ryan (Steven Spielberg, 1998), the would-be attackers join forces with the terrorists and turn against the government. The rest is a series of war movie scenes as the government returns fire. The borrowing from other movies is pervasive: The film's climax, for example, is a direct lift from the end of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (George Roy Hill, 1969). The teacher of the students chosen for the assault is wildly overplayed by Riki Takeuchi, who delivers a blistering anti-American speech before sending the kids off to fight. In general, it's a muddled film, not only politically but also in its failure to present clearly delineated characters in whom we can invest some emotional commitment and in the overall lack of suspense about their fates.

Here is the USA roaster for the USA VS Japan women’s rugby game. The match is a 15s game.
Watch the match at (https://rugbypass.tv/live/283145)
You can see that the team has a lot of Women’s Elite Rugby (WER) Players!
There are:
9 players from the Onyx
4 players from the Banshees
3 players from the Bay Breakers
1 player from the Exiles
6 players not playing on a WER team
Gemini fans it does looks like you have two players who went with the national team, but aren’t on the roaster. Tempest…. I didn’t see any of your players.
The Captain of USA rugby is Kate Zackary who is also captain of the rugby Union team Trailfinders!
Additionally I found a list of the Japanese roaster from (https://en.rugby-japan.jp/2025/04/26/sakura-fifteen-team-announced-for-usa-eagles-clash/)

Nao ANDO
Nana TAREKADO
Iroha NAGATA is the Captain of Japan. She plays 7s and 15s. She had a very nice Instagram!
The USA is called the Eagles and Japan is called the Sakura 15.
It looks like the USA has beat Japan every time they have played previously, but that they are getting closer to beating them.
“During the Eagles’ two-match tour to Japan last summer, the Sakura Fifteen came the closest they had ever come to beating the USA. Their first match in Fukuoka finished in a 17- all draw which they then followed with a narrow 8-11 loss the following weekend in Shizuoka.”
It also sounds like this is just a practice match between the teams, to get ready for Women’s Rugby World Cup which starts in August of 2025.
To learn more about the qualify teams and how they qualified check out this article
http://www.rugbyworldcup.com/2025/en/qualifying
I will be live blogging this game in WRWC lb (subject to change after research or someone tells me, I’ll change it on this post when I figure it out)
If I missed anything anything let me know! Tell additional things.
