As soon as you saw the familiar red Dodge truck parked outside the motel you groaned.
“Is this guy everywhere, all the time?” Halle, one of your crew members, mumbled from the driver’s seat. She pulled your SUV into the only empty spot in the parking lot.
She was referencing Tyler– another local storm chaser and absolute pain in your ass. His Ram truck was like a symbol all around Oklahoma. Everyone in the midwest knew his name– and what he did. You, on the other hand, knew him as a self-absorbed jerk that constantly put his and his team’s lives in danger for a few hundred thousand views on YouTube. He was cocky and obnoxious and arrogant. And you couldn’t stand him.
Unfortunately for you though, Tyler Owens and his entire team went where the storms went. Which meant that you were stuck dealing with him– especially during tornado season.
“Let’s just get a room, maybe we missed him,” you mumbled before turning to the backseat. “Anna, could you pass me my bag?”
“Sure thing,” she replied, grunting as she handed your duffel over.
“How about two rooms tonight?” you suggested. “I feel like I haven’t actually slept since we were in Austin.”
“God, I’ve been waiting for you to suggest that,” Halle mumbled. The bags around her eyes suggested she was just as eager for a good night’s sleep as you were.
Together, the three of you dragged yourselves towards the motel lobby, exhausted and desperate for both a shower and a bed.
“Why don’t you guys wait with all the gear? I’ll go in and book the rooms,” you offered.
“Two of them,” Halle said with a relieved smile.
“Two rooms coming up,” you promised.
They nodded in agreement and settled in on the curb while you wandered inside. The bell above the door rang loudly as you stepped inside. As soon as you did, you realized that, to your absolute dismay, a familiar someone had already beat you to the front desk. You’d recognize those stupid, broad shoulders any day, even if you were sleep deprived.
“Evenin’ m’lady,” Tyler’s little sidekick said teasingly. He tipped his baseball cap towards you.
“Hey Boone,” you greeted back curtly.
“What’d ya think of that beaut earlier, huh? Not too often we get two storm cells like that.”
“Yeah it was somethin’,” you replied absentmindedly. Honestly, you didn’t dislike Boone. He was friendly– maybe a little overzealous for your liking, but overall a nice guy. It was a shame he was always around Tyler– otherwise you might not always be so annoyed with him, too.
“There she is,” Tyler beamed. He approached you and Boone while he tucked a few room keys in his wallet. “Were you fillin’ Boone in on why you picked the wrong storm to chase today? Because that’s a story I want to hear–”
Your gaze fell to the floor, chest tightening the same way it did in the field earlier. “The winds changed last minute– I didn’t catch it,” you muttered, although you shouldn’t even have to explain yourself to this hillbilly.
“Ah, I see. Man, you’re off your game, sweetheart. Usually it’s me missin’ those signs. What do you got cloudin’ up that pretty little mind of yours?”
Anger began seeping into the corners of your mind. “Why do you even care?” you asked icily. “Thought you’d be happy to have that storm all to yourself.”
“Oh, I was sweetheart,” Tyler winked. “But I don’t mind sharin’ with you.”
Rolling your eyes, you pushed past him towards the front desk. A younger girl with short, red hair offered you a smile. “How can I help you?”
“I need two rooms please,” you requested, it took about all the energy you had left to smile back.
The girl sucked in a breath of air. “Oh, I’m so sorry– this gentleman here just rented three rooms. All we have left is one.”
“One?” you asked in disbelief, mouth falling open.
She nodded. “There’s two beds, though, if that helps.”
“Shit,” you grumbled. Your team was exhausted– and you knew that you couldn’t just take back your promise for them to have their own beds.
“I’m sorry–” the girl repeated, but you shook your head.
“No, it’s okay. Not your fault,” you said quickly, trying to remember your manners..
“Somethin’ wrong over there sweetheart?” Tyler asked teasingly.
“Yeah, you took all but one of the rooms. Now my team doesn’t have enough.”
“C’mon, I’ve seen you guys cram into one room before.”
“Yeah, but they’re exhausted. We haven’t had our own beds in weeks and I promised them…” your voice trailed off. Why the hell were you even explaining any of this to him? “You know what? Just forget it–” you turned back towards the receptionist. “I’ll take the one room, please.”
After passing your card over and paying, you turned and pushed back past Tyler and Boone. But before you could reach the door, Tyler’s voice stopped you in your tracks.
“What are you just gonna go back on your promise? That’s really gonna disappoint your team–”
“I’ll sleep in the damn truck,” you snapped, zero patience for any of his sarcasm or feeble attempts at a joke. “Happy?”
“Hey–” he said, voice softening instantly. “I was just kiddin’ around.”
“Really funny,” you said, sarcasm dripping off your tongue, now more than usual, Tyler was getting on your nerves. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go and disappoint my team.”
Without waiting for whatever retort Tyler could come up with next, you finally pushed your way through the door without looking back.
You found Halle and Anna in the same place you left them– still sitting on the curb, slouched over and exhausted-looking.
“Hey guys, bad news–” you began, guilt already spreading through your stomach. But before you could, the bell to the lobby door rang out, causing you to groan.
You took a deep, steadying breath to calm your nerves, just in time for Tyler to speak. “Now I have an idea– how about we share? I got three rooms for my team, but that’s six beds… we only need five.”
You spun around so fast, you were surprised you didn’t get whiplash. “Look Tyler, as much as you know I love your antics, can we not do this right now? Please?”
“Who said anythin’ about antics?” he pressed. “I’m bein’ serious here. Your two can have their beds and you can take one of ours.”
“No way,” you spat quickly. “I’m sleeping in the car.”
By now, Halle and Anna had seemingly picked up on the situation. They stood up and crossed their arms disapprovingly in unison.
“You can’t sleep in the car, that’s ridiculous,” Anna said.
“Yeah, why don’t you and Anna take the room and I’ll share with Tyler’s crew,” Halle offered.
“No,” you shook your head. “I promised you guys a good night’s sleep tonight– I’m not letting you crash with them.”
“Well we’re not letting you sleep in the car,” Halle argued back. “It’s like… eighty-five degrees out here.”
You let your eyes fall shut for a moment, trying to think. But the truth was, you really were just so, so tired. You wanted everything about today– the storm cells you got wrong from earlier, the endless hours of driving, and lack of sleep, over with. And if bunking with someone from Tyler’s crew was the only way to make that happen, well then, so be it, you finally decided. Better you than Halle or Anna.
“See– even your team isn’t as scared of us as you are,” Tyler chuckled.
“Fine,” you snapped, shaking your head in disbelief. You couldn’t believe this was actually happening. “Who am I sharing with?”
Maybe you’d get lucky and get to room with Dani or Lilly–
“That would be me,” Tyler chirped, eyes glistening under the streetlamp.
Well fuck me, you thought.
You curled up in the double bed closest to the wall. By the time you got up to the room, Tyler had already claimed the one closest to the door.
You heard the water snap off in the bathroom, followed by the sound of Tyler peeling back the shower curtain. That was your cue to feign sleep, if only to avoid any further conversation with him for the night. You rolled over and pulled the blankets up to your chin.
After a few minutes, he emerged from the bathroom– the noise from the fan growing louder and a sudden whiff of his shampoo washing over you. You’d never admit it– but the way he smelled was actually one of the few things you liked about Tyler.
“I know you’re not sleepin’,” he said as he began rummaging through his bag.
“How the hell would you know that?” you groaned.
You heard him chuckle softly. “Because you wouldn’t have answered if you were.”
This fucking cowboy.
“Well I’d like to be sleeping,” you said, still not rolling over to face him.
“And here I was hopin’ we’d use our little sleepover to get to know each other a little better.”
“You can lay off the act,” you said suddenly, all of your anger and exhaustion just melting into a pool of unfiltered irritation.
There was a brief pause before Tyler replied, “What do you mean?”
“I mean there’s no audience in here– no team members watching, no YouTube subscribers viewing us. You don’t have to pretend to be all sweet and charming.”
“I wasn’t aware I was pretending–”
“Oh cut the shit, Tyler. You love to drive me crazy me– just admit it. And it's probably my fault for letting you get to me so easily. But I mean, c'mon, was it your plan all along to just get me to share a room with you so you could keep me up all night getting to know me better?”
He let out a huff of air that sounded frustrated, as opposed to his usual amusement. “You’re something else, Y/N, you know that?”
You were caught off guard by Tyler’s use of your actual name. He always resorted to nicknames– either sweetheart or the town he knew you were from. In fact, in the few years you’d known him, the only time he’d ever repeated your name was the first time you told it to him.
You sat up in bed and finally turned to face him– trying to gauge his demeanor.
“I offer you a room– I didn’t have to do that, you know? And believe it or not, I didn’t offer it to you just to make your life miserable. I did it because I didn’t like the idea of you sleepin’ in your car alone–” he shook his head. “Forget it. It doesn’t matter. Goodnight.”
Before you could even think of a reply, Tyler was peeling back the covers of his own bed and crawling in. He laid on his left side, back facing you.
You stayed in place for a moment, too stunned to move or speak or do much of anything.
Eventually, you laid back down, trying your best to deny the pool of guilt spreading through your stomach.
…
With one arm you held on to your sister's hand as hard as you could– feeling the muscles in your shoulder strain and pop as you did.
“Hold on!” you shouted, pleading with her not to let go.
With your other hand, you were clinging to the handle on the storm shelter door. Somehow it had managed to pop open after the two of you had escaped inside.
She looked down at you, her body suspended in the air– nothing but sheer, unfiltered terror reflecting in her round-rimmed glasses.
“C’mon!” you screamed.
“Please–” she gasped. “Please don’t let me go!”
“I got you!” you screamed, but you could feel that your grip on her clammy hand wasn’t as tight as it needed to be. “No–” you yelled.
“Don’t let me go–” she repeated, nails digging into your skin desperately.
But you didn’t even have time to adjust your grip before she was slipping away– in the end, the winds won.
In the blink of an eye, her body was being sucked away from you– further and further into the dark storm clouds barreling your way.
“No!” you screamed, reaching for the spot her body was moments before. “No!”
But then you felt your own grip slipping on the door handle and you knew you needed both hands to hold on if you wanted to survive. So, using all your strength– you dragged yourself to the bottom of the storm shelter. You found the safest corner– next to some old piping to curl up.
The whole time the storm raged on above you– you couldn’t stop screaming. So, you squeezed your eyes shut and pressed your forehead against your knees, making yourself as small as possible. And then, with everything you had left, you wound your arms around the piping and held on like your life depended on it… because it did.
Your name sounded so distant when you heard someone calling it– like it was miles away. Then, vaguely, it came more into focus as it was called again.
The third time, it was right next to you– and it was familiar… but you didn’t dare to look up. What if the storm was still raging outside? What if it took you next?
Hands gripped your shoulders– causing you to jolt awake.
Your eyes shot open as you pulled yourself from your nightmare. Tyler was sitting on the edge of your bed, his mouth hung open, like he was out of breath.
“Tyler?” you croaked, attempting to sit up from the mattress.
“You’re okay,” he said instantly. “You’re okay– you’re safe.”
Once you had managed to sit up, you studied Tyler’s face for a moment, trying desperately to gauge if any of this was real. Despite the darkness around you, you could still make out every feature– every crease, every freckle, every single piece of stubble that made up his shaved beard. And as much as you’d admired Tyler’s face in the last few years, even you knew that you couldn’t have been that detailed in your imagination.
You wanted to ask what the hell he was doing there– how he had gotten in her room, when all of a sudden, the same memories that had plagued you in your dream resurfaced in your mind.
The sight of the EF4 tornado that destroyed every inch of your childhood home. The image of your sister’s terrified face– right before she was ripped from your grasp. The sound of her scream, dissipating with the raging winds.
“Easy, sweetheart,” Tyler soothed.
You turned to face him– Tyler was here because he’d let you share his room… because he was way kinder than you ever gave him credit for. And now he was here– witnessing you completely falling apart.
Tyler’s lips began moving– he was talking. But despite the vague comfort from his tone of voice, you couldn’t really make out what he was saying. It was like the winds were still raging around you– muffling everything.
You felt like your heart might just beat out of your chest– maybe that was the tornado working to rip it from your skin.
“Hey–” a voice… no, not a voice. Tyler’s voice, said. “You gotta breathe.”
What was he talking about? You were breathing– of course you were breathing. Unless... unless the tornado ripped out your lungs instead of your heart. And now that you thought about it, no, actually, you weren’t breathing. You tried to inhale in, but the air wouldn’t come. You gasped, chest tightening while you began to tremble.
Your lungs weren’t in your chest– your lungs flew away– just like your sister.
Firm, rough hands cupped both of your cheeks, forcing you to look forward. You were met by Tyler’s green eyes, currently blown open and wide with worry.
“Breathe, baby,” he instructed. “With me– look.”
Baby, you thought. That was a new one. You didn’t hate it nearly as much as you hated sweetheart.
You watched desperately as Tyler inhaled and exhaled exaggeratedly, like he was hoping you’d follow along.
You tried. Really, you did.
Your wide, desperate eyes met his. But instead of following along, all you could do was imagine what your sister’s body had looked like after being struck by debris and tossed halfway across town–
“With me,” Tyler repeated firmly, his thumb stroking across the surface of your cheek gently. You leaned into his touch, craving comfort.
Tyler continued producing loud and deliberate, slow and calming breaths. After a few seconds, you latched onto the sound, mimicking it, and following along the best that you could.
Your shoulders relaxed slightly when you realized that you could actually breathe– which meant that EF5 hadn’t actually ripped them out of your chest.
Tyler’s brushed a loose strand of hair from your face. “There you go,” he whispered.
“Did I wake you up?” you asked quietly, feeling even guiltier than you had for snapping at him all night.
He hesitated– like he was actually debating on lying to you or not.
“Was I screaming?”
“I mean, a little bit–”
You nodded before letting your gaze fall to your lap, where you began picking harshly at an old hangnail, a feeble attempt to distract yourself.
“Do you–” Tyler began. “Do you have those nightmares often?”
Now it was your turn to contemplate lying. But then you remembered what an absolute jerk you’d been to Tyler all night, and figured you at least owed him the truth.
“Yeah,” you said. “That’s partially why I wanted to sleep in the truck.”
Tyler smiled softly. “And here I was thinking it was because you hated me so much.”
“I’m sorry–” you began, voice shaking slightly. “I know I can be a jerk.”
One of Tyler’s eyebrows shot up like he was surprised.
“What?” you asked.
“No it’s just… that’s the first time I’ve ever heard you apologize.”
“What can I say?” you mumbled, trying to make light of things. “You seem to always see the worst versions of myself.”
Tyler’s gaze softened, like he knew you were talking about more than your lack of apologies. After a moment he sighed. “Do you want to talk about it?”
Glancing up, you hesitated. Your heart had just stopped pounding in your chest, but the thought of talking about what had happened in your home just a few short years ago made it speed up again.
“You don’t have to–” Tyler said quickly.
“No– it’s just…” your voice faltered. “I just haven’t really talked about it.”
Tyler was patient. He stayed still on the edge of your bed and waited for you to be ready. After you sorted through some of the thoughts in your head you whispered, “You know I’ve been chasing in Oklahoma since I was a teenager?”
Tyler’s face lit up in surprise.
“It’s true. I took a few years off… and when I came back, I was upset to see Oklahoma had a new storm chaser. One that everyone seemed to like more than me,” you admitted. You weren’t sure why this was all flowing out so freely, but even you had to admit that it felt nice to be honest. “That’s why I’ve been so mean to you, I think. It felt like you were encroaching on my turf. And then you showed up with your fancy truck– and all your gear, and I suppose I just felt a little jealous.”
Tyler nodded in understanding. “Why’d you take a few years off?”
Your voice caught in your throat. Only when you hung your head did you feel confident enough to answer. “Remember that EF5 that hit Logan County a few years back?”
Tyler nodded.
“My family’s farm was in Logan County. My parents were away– on a weekend trip to Colorado to see family. But I’d convinced my sister to stay home with me, because I didn’t want to go,” the words that were your mouth suddenly didn’t feel like yours. And the trembling hands in your lap didn’t feel like yours either.
“The storm turned last minute. We barely had any warning. But I grabbed my sister– and we ran to the storm shelter. We made it, too– but then the door ripped open. When she went to shut it…” your voice trailed off. “Well you can use your imagination for the rest.”
You finally gathered up enough courage to glance up at Tyler. His eyes were fixated on you– sadness and sympathy plastered all over his face. “I’m so sorry,” he said genuinely.
“Yeah, well…” you said weakly. “The worst part is– I think I remember locking the storm shelter door– but I wonder every single day of my life if I accidentally forgot. Which… I mean, convincing her to stay home already makes it partially my fault. But I can write that one off– and remind myself I didn’t know what was going to happen. But forgetting to lock the storm shelter?” you sighed. “That would be a harder one to forgive myself for.”
Tyler scooted closer towards you on the bed. He raised his hand– he was reaching out to comfort you. But then he pulled back, like he thought better. You were surprised by how disappointed that made you.
“It’s not your fault–” Tyler assured you.
It was the same thing your parents had said your whole life– so why couldn’t you believe it?
“I guess it doesn't really matter whose fault it was,” you said. “She’s gone and I’m not. I took a few years off from chasing because I just couldn’t… I couldn’t get myself in the right headspace for it. Every time I saw a cell forming, I’d panic– and I’d want to run from it, not chase it. Things are better now… but every once and a while, I still run. Like today,” you admitted. “I knew the winds changed. I knew the one to the east was gonna die out. That’s why I chose it.”
Tyler sighed. “And then I gave you shit for it,” he said, remorse in his tone. “I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry, too,” you admitted. “And I’m really grateful you let me crash in your room. I think if I’d been screamin’ like that in my car, it would’ve caused quite the scene.”
Tyler’s lips tugged into a gentle smile. “I told you I didn’t mind sharing when it came to you. Plus, I learned more about you during our little sleepover than I have in the last few years chasin’ next to you.”
“Yeah, well…” you mumbled. “Don’t get used to it.”
Tyler smirked. “Does that mean you’re going to go back to hating me tomorrow, when we’re no longer roommates? Or have I finally cracked through that tough ole shell of yours?”
“You keep offerin’ me motel rooms for free and I’ll be an open book,” you laughed.
Tyler nodded, like he was storing that offer for later.
“Hey, I don’t know about you,” he said, suddenly clapping his thighs before standing up. “But all that screaming got me wide awake. You hungry? I’m buying.”
He held out his hand– waiting for you to take it.
“Are you offering me a room and dinner in one night?” you teased.
“And all you had to do was reveal your deepest, darkest secrets and traumas to me,” Tyler smirked.
“Tyler Owens, you’re too easy,” you said, gladly taking his outstretched hand.

The only thing you could hear was your bother. Javi was screaming your name in the distance as you laid on the grass, your vision almost a blur as you stared at the gray sky above you. Everything felt slow and calm, as if everything was alright. But nothing was alright, barely surviving an EF5 with harsh winds throwing you around at a failed attempt to capture data of the tornado.
Not even noticing or feeling the intense pain within your lower body, just staring at the sky as if it were comforting you. In a blur, Javi stood above you, looking almost horrified as he looked over your body. immediately taking notice, a wood peace of a fence went through your right leg. "Stay awake, alright?" Shaking you slightly to keep your brain still aware. The rest of his words were muffled, not minding as you felt something pulling you above.
The last thing you heard from Javi was him yelling at you in a panic to try to stay awake more and wait for the paramedics to come rescue you before your vision went black in the most peaceful way you ever felt.
Five years later
Standing in front of the bathroom mirror at the gas station, letting the cold water run over your hands as you cleaned them thoroughly, getting rid of any germs you had on your hands for just being in the bathroom. Your wedding ring getting more shiny as the water ran through it. Bringing a smile to your face just five years ago, you were on the edge of death and now a happily married woman to none other than Tyler Owens. The tornado wrangler.
A knock broke your train of thought as Lily spoke from behind the door. "Are you almost done? Some of us have to use the bathroom too, yknow?!" Quickly drying your hands before opening the door to meet Lily. "Yeah, I'm done now. Sorry, I was just in my own world for a quick second." letting out a little laugh.
Patting your shoulder as Lily closes the door shut quickly with the sound of the lock turning. Turning away and approaching Dexter, who stood in the aisle looking at the batteries. "Need extras?" You asked, crossing your arms.
Along with Dexter and Dani, you helped them a bit with navigation, but mostly you hung out in the truck with Tyler, Boone, and Javi. Having to take it easy since the injury that took place on your leg left you weak and needed an easier job.
Having such love for this job made you never want to quit at all. As soon as you were discharged from the hospital, you wanted to go back out, but with ears full from Javi and other friends, you waited. Three years later, you still were getting the strength you had on your leg. It was hard as the years went by as Javi went on to continue to storm chase, then some time in the military. But it was all worth it as you met Tyler, who brought more happiness to your life and as well some new friends.
"Not really, but I'm getting some of these just in case you'll never know when something happens." Dexter's voice pulls you out of your thoughts once more. "Ah well, you're right on that one; you can never be sure." Giving a warm smile before hearing a voice behind speaking up. "Be sure of what?" Tyler's voice was heard as his hand wrapped around your waist, pulling you into him lovingly.
Just at the sound of his voice, it already has you a blushing mess, it doesn't matter if both of you are married; you'd never get over it. He always treated you fairly and kindly and with respect, and you gave the same in return.
Looking up at him with a big smile and back to Dexter. "He was just telling me he's getting extra batteries just in case, y'know?" Tyler let out a laugh with a shake of his head. "always thinking ahead, which I greatly appreciate. In fact, today is supposed to be easy. With the stats we are seeing, it should be at least something tiny." Now walking out of the building with Tyler and approaching Javi, Dani, and Boone, who was checking the camera storage.
"How you feelin'?" Javi asked as you approached him by the truck. Javi has always worried for you since the injury and always double checks if you're sure you'd like to continue on. It always made you smile though; Javi was the best brother you could ask for, and you'd never wished to replace him ever.
"I am feeling good, Javi; no need to worry about me. I don't need two people to keep checking up on me every second." Tyler also always asked you if you wanted to join and go through, and it made you always feel like the safest person on earth.
Just earning a small nod from him before Tyler spoke once to the whole group, announcing one minute left before heading out. Crossing your arms, you looked at the sky. The wind was not strong, but it made your stomach turn, feeling a sense of unease and worry. Taking deep breaths to desperately fight the flashbacks, closing your eyes and trying to focus on the sound of your breaths before a hand sat on your shoulder, taking you back to reality.
Looking over your eyes  met Tyler once more; his face looked concerned for you and worried. "Is everything alright, sweetheart?" His voice even carried the sound of concern. Giving him a slight smile as you turn to fully meet him, placing your hands on each side of him and holding onto him. "Of course I'm fine, Tyler. Don't worry about me." Giving a reassuring squeeze before he spoke up.
"But I'm supposed to worry about you; that's my job as your husband. Don't forget that." letting out a slight chuckle and a smile to boost the mood between one another. A chuckle escaped past your lips. Your head landing on his chest, hiding your smirk from his comment. "I could never forget Tyler... I love you too much to ever forget that," a soft smile placed on your lips.
His face lowered down to meet your's to place a soft and quick kiss against your lips. Both of you taking in the moment just the two of you as the wind slowly picked up. "Not to bother your guy's little moment, but uh, it's time to get goin'." Lilly's voice spoke, breaking the moment.
Getting in the back of the truck with Javi as Tyler sat in the driver seat and Boone in the passenger. You usually preferred the back when you felt uneasy, giving a sense of comfort. Just as Tyler started to drive, talking to the viewers through the camera, you and Javi kept an eye on the wind speeds and closely monitored, giving every piece of information to everyone.
Javi looked away for a couple of minutes to talk to the camera, joining in the fun as you kept a close eye on the monitor. The winds picked up speed, the sky got darker, and then rain began to pour down harshly. Glancing up, you look at the funnel slowly forming, doing the math and analyzing the size. This wouldn't be some EF1…
"Woah, do you guys see that now that is a good one?" Tyler spoke to the viewers once more as Boone turned to show it forming. Your body froze, unable to move. Every thought and memory came back in a flash quickly.
"Javi, I need to get this data; it's the most important one I can ever get." You spoke loudly, trying to be heard over the high winds, clutching the computer in your arms tightly. "But you'll get yourself killed; it's not worth it!" Javi yelled, trying to get you back in the van to safety.
Just as you turned back, it was too late, as the large EF5 looked as if it wasn't moving. With a great chance, it was approaching your way.
Coming back to your senses once again as Javi looks at you with worry. "Are you alright? What's the matter?" Both of his hands on your shoulder, Tyler looking at you through the little mirror, as Boone just kept the camera away from you for privacy. Quickly showing your brother the wind speed and then pointing to the almost formed tornado and speaking only five words. "We need to leave now."
But it was too late; it had already formed into a massive EF5. With no little time, Tyler quickly started to drive. Your eyes locked on the tornado in fear. "I can't see shit!" Tyler yelled through the loud rain.
"Just drive go go go!" Boone yelled. Then everything went slow for the second time in your life. The sudden calm feeling you enjoyed and overwhelmed you. You take notice of everyone's expressions. Javi was petrified as his right hand gripped on your arm. Tyler's eyes shut, hands gripping the wheel, his wedding ring shining brightly. And Boone was holding onto the camera dearly.
Then it went back to normal with a sound of a crash, then darkness once more. Perhaps it was how you were meant to go? Or someone above was cradling you in their arms, offering comfort and safety; whatever it was, it felt as if it were a dream.
It only felt as if this comfort lasted a second. The sound of a constant beeping rang through your ears. A feeling of a rough blanket beneath your fingers as you slowly moved them. Then a comforting hand laid on your forehead, slowly stroking your hair. A deep breath leaves from you before your eyes slowly flutter open.
It took time for your eyes to focus as the bright lights lit the hospital room, and the first face you met is with Tyler; he had a cut on his face going over his nose. His smile grew as you made eye contact. "Hey there.." He softly spoke, his hand still slowly stroking your hair. "What.." Your voice hurt, throat was dry, and you had a lot of head pain. He shushed you quietly before placing a loving kiss on your forehead before speaking.
"The truck flipped over... and a lot of crazy things happened. but you were the most injured. Some brain damage and bleeding. but nothing too bad." His face frowned as he gave you the story of what had happened that day.
"How long..?" You slowly leaned up with the help of Tyler and a couple of tears.
"Three weeks." Those words shocked you; it only felt like you were out for a mere second. Taking a good look around the room, you looked and saw flowers and a comfy blanket at the bottom of the bed. "Javi and the others?" You turned your head with a wince.
Tyler gave a kiss to your hand before he took a seat beside the bed. "They are all alright, I promise you. They even visited you, but you won't remember since you were out," letting out a soft laugh. You gave him one in return, which sounded heavenly to him; not hearing your laugh in three weeks was a nightmare for him. not knowing if you'd ever wake up.
Tyler looked at you with such love; his hand never let go of yours. placing one kiss upon your hand once more before speaking. "Can you promise me something?" His eyes looked at you, silently begging you to hear his question, giving him a slight nod. "Promise me that anytime from now on you will always tell me when something feels wrong or you feel uneasy, please." Reading his face, your injury left him tired, eye bags under his eyes, almost as if he waited those three weeks for you to wake up. Placing your hand on his cheek softly, caressing with your thumb before speaking up. "I promise"

IN YOUR ORBIT

a/n. some love for javi <3
Tumblr media
Life moved on in strange ways. Five years ago, after the death of three of your best friends, you weren’t sure how life was supposed to look. You wandered around in a haze for a while after the accident, pulling apart from Kate as she hung up her storm-chasing hat and moved to New York. You had tried to pull away from Javi, but he was too stubborn. Even when he joined the military, it seemed like both of your worlds revolved around each other; you fell back into the other’s orbit every time.
Five years didn’t seem like much time, but everything for you changed. The loss of your friends remained a carved-out spot in your heart, but time did its best to give something back to you, something good to help ease the hurt. That was Javi.
Before the accident, you and him were close friends. Abby used to call you two halves of the same brain because of how in sync you were. It wasn’t until afterward, when the harsh realities of life forced you to realize how precious each moment was, that you and Javi became more than friends. Three years later you married him in a little courthouse in your hometown, sweet and simple. And by a wonderful surprise, five years later you were expecting your first child.
The two of you were ecstatic, still flushed with the new excitement of the news, and yet to get into the plethora of worries that awaited. You had one more tornado season before you had to decide exactly what your future in your field looked like with a child.
Javi had called in Kate to help with the series of chases his company’s team needed. You didn’t work for them, but you helped out where you could, offering your expertise but never venturing too close to the storm; you had forgone that after the accident, and it took a long time for you to be okay with Javi putting himself at risk again, but you couldn’t stop him from doing what he loved.
“It’s just so exciting,” Kate said, lounging on the motel bed with a bright smile on her face. “You’re gonna have a little baby! Let’s hope it takes after you and not Javi,” she teased.
“His brain with my looks, they’d be set for life,” you said, only somewhat joking.
She looked at you with slightly glossy eyes, a little more emotional than you had expected. “I’m really happy for you guys.” Since you could remember, since you had befriended Kate in college, she had been convinced Javi liked you. At every turn, she was the one nudging you towards each other, but you had brushed it off, thinking there wasn’t a chance for you two. But so much had changed, and amidst all of the bad, Javi was your silver lining.
A knock sounded on the motel’s door before it was swung open by Javi who balanced a pizza box on his hand. “Who’s hungry?” he said. Before he was fully in the door, Kate had jumped up and snatched the box, bringing it back over to the bed.
You couldn’t help but feel giddy mixed with a sharp pang of sadness. It felt like college again, sharing pizza in a cramped room with your best friends. Only there were three missing. An incompleteness haunted the scene, but you were grateful for what you had left, and for the future that looked so much brighter than it had a couple of years ago.
“What about baby names? Have you thought of any yet?” Kate asked before biting into the still-warm pizza.
“Not yet, but Javi has some terrible contenders.”
Your husband scoffed, faking hurt by placing a hand on his heart. “You said you wanted to be creative!”
You laughed as he took a seat beside you on the bed. “We’re still figuring, well, everything out.”
“Well, if you’re in the market for middle names, I think my name should be tossed into the ring,” Kate said. “I like to think I’m the reason you ended up together.”
Javi threw a wadded-up napkin at her. She swatted it away with a huff. “No way is that true!”
Kate scoffed. “Is too!” She turned to you. “You have no idea how many times I had to sit and listen to him. ‘She’s so pretty.’ She’s so perfect.’ ‘Oh, I’m too scared to ask her out.’ ‘Blah, blah, blah.’”
You turned to him, surprised. Back in college, you had thought about the idea of you and Javi a couple of times, mostly because Kate was sure you’d be a good fit. But you didn't know he had been pining after you for that long before he confessed his feelings. “You really said all that about me?”
He shrugged. “It was a lot more chill than Kate’s making it sound, but…yeah. What? You think I asked you out, out of the blue?”
“I don’t know.” You had been so caught up in your research in school that relationships fell to the back burner. Not that it mattered anymore; you two had found your way to each other regardless, but he somehow became even more endearing in your eyes.
“Oh, that wasn't even half of it, but I don’t want to embarrass him even more,” Kate said.
Javi’s eyes narrowed slightly. “You want to talk crushes? What’s going on between you and that cowboy?”
Kate’s eyes widened. “What? Nothing? Are you kidding me?”
“He seems to be awfully interested in you,” you added, shifting the teasing onto her. Relationships still seemed to be on the back burner for her those days. You couldn’t imagine how hard it was for her to not only lose her best friends but someone she loved too. The ‘tornado wrangler’ that Javi’s team seemed to be in slight competition with during their recent chases had taken quite the interest in Kate and maybe that wasn’t the worst thing.
Stealing two more slices of pizza, Kate rolled off of the bed. “He is not, and I have zero interest in him.” With a huff, she made her way toward the door. “See you guys in the morning.”
“Are you gonna pay me back for the pizza or-” Kate closed the door quickly, cutting off Javi’s words. He threw his hands up as you laughed. “Now it really feels like college again.”
In the warm glow of the bedside lamp, you looked at him with a soft smile. There was so much you still had to figure out, but even in the chaotic world of chasing down storms, your life finally felt peaceful and on the right track despite the universe trying to shake you off.
“You know,” you started, placing a hand over the small bump of your stomach. “Kate’s a bad middle name.”
Javi lowered himself down the bed so that his face was in line with your stomach. “I need you to be a boy, just to spite your auntie Kate, all right,” he said to your baby. “That’ll show her not to pay me back for pizza.”

can't take the home out of oklahoma - i. (k.c.)
a/n: eeee! a fever dream later, i've finally cobbled together the first part of my top gun: maverick and twisters crossover fic! it's going to be lengthy so we are in for quite the ride! it's way heavier on twisters, so any non-top gun fans should have no problem reading this. future parts will deal with darker content that's only referenced right now, so that'll all be tagged and marked accordingly. for now, it's just my standard cup of angst. reblog and comments are always appreciated!!
summary: After a twisted stroke of luck, you leave behind your whole life in San Diego, California and find yourself in Oklahoma with Tyler Owens and his Tornado Wranglers.
warnings: swearing, weather inaccuracies, flashbacks, reference to past trauma, alcohol
word count: 5.7k
Tumblr media
Your finger rubs gently over the crinkled piece of paper Jake had torn off for you, the phone number and the name Tyler Owens written in the neat penmanship the blonde prided himself on.
If you ever find yourself down South and need something, Jake had said, a bit out of breath as he’d run out of the house after you. If you need anything, call that number. They’ll help you.
The cursor blinks back up at you on the call pad, your cracked screen making a mockery of you. The chaos of the San Diego airport whirls around you, pressing in on you the longer you sit here.
You take a deep breath and press call.
-
His phone starts vibrating on the table and he frowns, eyebrows furrowing as the team, crowded around the table in the RV, goes quiet.
He answers, despite it being an unknown number. “Tyler Owens.”
“Hi. Uh,” A shaky breath comes from the other end of the receiver before introducing themselves to him. “Uh, Jake Seresin gave me your number. Told me to call if I needed anything.”
His gut drops at the name, a clench in his heart. “What can I do for ya?”
“Look, I’ve- I’ve had a rough week and I’m, I’m sort of finding my life upside down. And uh, I guess I’m just grasping at straws here. Jake said, he said you could help me.”
“That so? Well, I’m afraid you’re gonna have to be more specific. How can I help you? What can I do for you?”
“A- a purpose, maybe? I need a purpose, something to do. Um, I’m in San Diego right now but I need to get out of here.”
Tyler frowns, eyes flicking around at his team. They’re all curious as to what’s unfolding, and he scrubs at his forehead, knowing they’ll be upset with him for pulling the trigger on this without talking it through with them first.
But damn it, this girl sounded scared and Jake had sent her to him. Had told her he’d help her, and he would see to it that he did.
He wasn’t going to leave her behind.
“Tell you what, get yourself on a plane to Oklahoma. I’ll come get you. You can come work with me and my team.”
“You- your team?” Though she sounds hesitant, she almost sounds relieved at having some sort of direction now.
“Storm chasers. Ish. We’re doing some field research out here in Tornado Alley, but I’ve got a team, the Tornado Wranglers. And honestly, we need another set of hands out of here managing the backend of things.”
The word managing was the wrong choice as it immediately sends his team into protest. Boone stands up abruptly, Javi and Kate whispering protests to him, as Lilly starts making a face. He waves a hand, wanting them to be quiet.
The last thing he needed was for this girl to hear, to hang up, to not follow through.
“Okay.” You say, and he thinks he hears you stand up. “Okay, I’ll find the soonest flight out. Um, what kind of things do you need help with? My background- it’s not in science.”
“Don’t worry about it, I’m sure we could find something around here you can help with. Research grant editing or something.”
“I’ve actually got experience with that.” You say with a choked laugh, and Tyler can feel the relief bleed through the phone. He smiles a bit, pressure easing as he does.
“Then we’ll make sure we put you to work.” There’s a beat as he hears the intercom in the airport go off in the background. “Listen, text me when your flights supposed to land. I’ll make sure I’m there to get you. We’re out in the field right now, so it may be a bit of trek out here, but I’ll make sure you get here.”
You confirm and he hangs up and his team starts yelling before the phone is even back on the table.
“We don’t need another team member man-“
“A manager? What kind of business do you take this for?”
“Are you serious? Kate and I, we’ve got the grant stuff covered-“
“This really tells us how you feel about us, Owens.”
He glances at Kate, who’s looking at him with a guarded expression he hasn’t seen since he first met her. She doesn’t excuse herself, simply pushing her way out, climbing around the back of Javi and Boone.
-
It would be hard to miss Tyler, the way he’s signing an autograph, cowboy hat atop his head as he leans against the truck branded with the Tornado Wranglers logo.
You stop dead, a cold feeling washing over you at the eerie reminder of the person you’d just left behind.
This Tyler Owens might be Jake Seresin’s doppelgänger, and based on what you’d seen during the flight you were beginning to suspect the only difference between them is the way they chased the adrenaline high.
During the flight, you’d bought in-flight WiFi for the first time in your life, just to learn who these people were, who you’d be spending time with. Trying to understand what you’d gotten yourself into.
Tyler perks up at the sight of you, a smile growing on his face. He holds out his hand and you take it, noting the genuine smile. You shake his hand, swallowing around the burning desire to ask the question.
“Welcome to good ol’ Oklahoma.” He welcomes. “You ready to hit the road? The team is a bit of a ways out.”
You nod as Tyler grabs your small duffel bag, throwing it in the back of the truck before you can even ask.
You climb in the front, taking note of all the gadgets the truck is equipped with. “What’s all this?” You ask, as he turns the key, pulling away from the curb. “Storm chasing stuff?”
“You could say that. The trucks decked out with all kinds of stuff.”
The radio is soft in the background as Tyler talks to you about the team, about what you’ll be doing.
As Tyler talks, as you talk, as you both think of things for you to do, you begin to lose interest in the conversation as the Oklahoma skyline begins to paint itself into a deep orange.
“Can we stop?” You ask, voice full of wonder as you peer out windshield, watching the sky transform itself.
You feel Tyler look over at you, before turning on his blinker despite the lack of cars around. The truck rolls to a stop as you dig around, pulling the disposable camera you’d bought from the bottom of your backpack. Tyler hasn’t even parked before you’re slipping out of the truck, walking around the front to take a picture of the sunset.
“I haven’t seen a sunset like this since I was a kid.” You breathe, the camera clicking as you do.
“I hear California has pretty good sunsets.” Tyler says, sticking his hands in his pockets as he stands next to you.
You shrug.  “They do, but if you’re in the inner city, a lot of times the good ones are hard to catch. They’re easier to see at the beach but the marine layer blocks a lot of the good ones.” You say, turning to Tyler. “At least in my opinion. We can get back on the road now.”
He nods, eyes steadily watching you as you turn on your heel, climbing back in the truck. Tyler’s a few beats behind you, still standing in the same spot as you buckle your seatbelt.
The rest of the drive is quiet, the flow of quiet country music coming through the radio as the Oklahoma skies turns from dusk to night.
By the time you roll up to camp, it’s clear that Tyler’s team has gone to bed, save for one.
An older man perks up at the sight of you, climbing to his feet from his chair. “Ah, Tyler. Was just about to call and see where you were. This our new teammate?”
Tyler nods, introducing you to this man. You step forward taking his outstretched hand.
“Dexter.” He says, a smile on his face. “You must’ve had a long day. We’ve got some leftovers, can I get you anything? We’ve also got our extra tent set up, it’s where you’ll be sleeping.”
You glance at Tyler, although you’re not sure for what. Reassurance maybe. “I’d love some food. And a water maybe? I don’t have a water bottle with me anymore.”
It’s almost a natural instinct to wince at the thought of the loss of your emotional support water bottle that was probably laying in some crevice in the wreckage in Texas.
Dexter sets to work as Tyler settles himself in front of the fire, a beer in hand. “We’re meant to head to town tomorrow anyways. We’ll stop, get you stuff to help out with the team. Maybe some new camping gear and whatever.” He takes a sip of his beer, cringing as he does. “Just realizing you’ll probably have to sleep on the dirt; I don’t think we’ve got any extra protectors after we visited the last wreckage. We should probably get more stuff tomorrow anyway.”
“It’s no worries.” You say with a wave of your hand. “I was a Girl Scout for like, eight years, so it’s not a big deal. Won’t phase me.”
A head pops out from a tent nearby. Tyler perks up at the sight of him, as the man sticks his hands in the pockets of the zip-up he’s wearing. “You want a jacket?”
You glance down, realizing you’re shivering. “Uh, yeah, that’d be nice.”
He gives you a cautious smile before looking to Tyler. “Hey Ty, man, I’ve got an extra pullover in the back of the van, can you grab it?”
Tyler nods as the man reaches a hand out. “I’m Javi.”
You shake it, introducing yourself.
“You from around here? You don’t sound it.”
You shake your head. “San Diego, actually.”
Tyler comes back the same time Dexter comes back with your food and Dexter waits patiently as you scramble, pulling the soft material over your head.
It smells strongly of rain in a way you can’t explain. In a way, the smell brings you a sliver of comfort.
You take the food from Dexter as you do, thanking him.
“Dexter, this is incredible.” You say around the bite.
“It’s an old family recipe from down in the bayou. I’ve tweaked it so we can make it out here on the road, but it’s a crowd pleaser when I do.”
“You from New Orleans?” You ask and he nods. “My boyf- my ex boyfriend now I guess-“ You say, taking another bite in hopes to hide the awkward way you swallow around those words. “He’s from out there too.”
Dexter sighs. “I miss that place, I do. But it wasn’t easy to stay after Katrina. I lost my whole family.”
Your heart pangs, at his words, and it aches, at the thought of the person you’d left behind.
“I’m very sorry to hear that.” You say softly.
Javi clears his throat. “You need anything else?” You shake your head and he stands up again. “I really oughta get to sleep, but we’ll chat more tomorrow, yeah?”
You nod and Javi gives you another cautious smile. In your heart, you want to believe there’s maybe a little hope hidden in it too.
Dexter also bids you and Tyler goodnight, and the two of you sit there, the crackling fire filling the silence as you eat.
“Thank you Tyler.” You say softly, staring at the burning embers after you’ve finished eating.
You know you should explain to him how it all happened, how you got here, but Tyler doesn’t ask and you can’t forget the vision in your head of Steven’s cold eyes, unseeing.
“You’re giving me a second chance here, and I really do appreciate it.” You settle on instead.
He nods. “Whatever I can do to help.”
You excuse yourself, bidding the man goodnight, only to find yourself tossing and turning on the hard ground.
You thought sleep would come to you easier, with how emotional the last week has been, but everytime you close your eyes and a breeze rolls through, it all comes flooding back, the haze of freezing rain, of a rusty storm grate, a heavy body, and so much blood-
The sound of a door shutting (from the RV if you had to guess,) causes you to open your eyes, sitting up on the makeshift bed.
“I don’t want her here Tyler.” A female voice says, and you frown.
There’s a beat.
“Too bad Sapulpa, she’s staying.” Tyler responds.
“Stay here and do what?” The girl asks incredulously. “We don’t need her help. And I didn’t know you’re suddenly in the business of helping out random strangers who call you in the middle of the day-“
“This is our whole business, Kate.” He says firmly. “We help people. Strangers. That’s what we’re here to do, remember?”
“And how are you helping her?”
Tyler’s quiet for a minute again. “We’re giving her a second chance.”
“A second chance? Are you serious?” The girl, Kate, huffs.
“It wasn’t that long ago it was you who needed a second chance. We gave that to you, remember?”
Another zipper being yanked cuts off Kate’s response.
“Yo!” It’s Javi. “Can y’all argue about this tomorrow?”
You don’t hear the sound of Kate’s footsteps but you hear the slam of the RV door loud and clear.
Tyler goes through the motions, getting the camp cleaned up, before putting the fire out. And then you hear him slip into the RV and for the first time in days, in the quiet of the Oklahoma night, it feels like you can breathe.
-
You awake with a gasp, clawing at the blankets as if it was Jake’s flannel, holding on for dear life through the storm.
You swallow back the bile threatening to spill over and blindly climb from the nest of blankets, pulling the zipper down, and stumbling into the sun.
You swallow as someone’s head turns. It’s a girl, sat at the table the crew has set up outside. You pull yourself from the tent, unable to shake your nerves as you take in the soft baby pink hues above her in the sky.
You introduce yourself softly and she gives you a tight smile in between bites of yogurt. “Kate.”
Your heart clenches, realizing this must be the girl you’d heard last night.
It’s an awkward silence the two of you sit in, the baby pink fading from the sky as Tyler pulls himself from the RV. When she sees Tyler, she quietly excuses herself and brushes past him, floating back into the RV.
“You oughta get that screen fixed.” Tyler comments, sitting down next to you.
“Haven’t had time.” You say with a shrug as you glance at the screen on your phone. It was more shattered than it was cracked, a hazard really, but what could you do?
“I’ll take you to a place in town today that’ll replace it for cheap.” Tyler says around a bite. “Can I get you anything to eat?”
Tyler’s team appears over the next hour, and he introduces them as they do. Dexter appears from the RV first and then Dani and Lilly from the back of the van. Boone gets dragged out from the van by Lilly twenty minutes later, and Boone pulls Javi from his tent because “if I have to be awake so do you Miami.”
Kate doesn’t leave the RV for the rest of the morning.
-
“They don’t like me.” You say quietly, drumming your fingers on the car door as Tyler drives to the motel that evening.
“They barely know you-“
“Cut the shit Tyler, I heard Kate last night.” You say sharply, sending him a cold glare. “They don’t want me here.” You roll out your shoulders, looking back out the window. “If you want me to go back, it’s okay.”
“And send you back to god knows what?”
“I’d be fine.”
“Kid, you sounded so damn terrified on that phone — I’m not inclined to turn around and give you back to that fear.”
You swallow around a sigh, feeling Tyler watch you as he drives.
“Give me a week. Give me a week to make it work. And if you still feel like you need to go back, hell, I’ll pay for your flight.”
You look at Tyler, noting the serious look in his eyes.
“Okay. One week.”
-
The next week feels simultaneously long and short in the worst ways.
Short, in that it feels like your time is running out.
Long, in that there are no storms to chase, dissipating before the team ever has a chance.
Long, in that you sit around most days, doing your own research on grants and sponsors and the backgrounds of potential investors and articles on social media growth.
Long, in that you don’t really talk to any of them, except for the one time you look over at Javi’s computer, just to tell him that his sentence didn’t make any sense.
Long in that, Kate refuses to be anywhere near you and Boone ignores you and Lilly shuts you out of conversation and Javi sort of looks at you like you’re some sort of alien placed down next to them.
It’s only on the sixth day, when you’re collecting everything you’ve worked on all week to give to Tyler in the morning before he takes you back, that something happens.
The storm is too far away for them to chase it, to get any research done, but Tyler and Lilly agree that the team should head in, to be there to help out and hand out food in the aftermath.
Because, apparently, that’s what this team is known for.
You feel awkward here, watching the team spring into action. You feel out of place, not knowing what you were supposed to say or do as these people dug through the rubble of their lives.
You were supposed to help people. Tyler had said you could help people here.
The team is distracted just enough, that it’s you who catches it, not them.
The sounds of a cry, somebody softly shushing them. You round a corner, heart breaking at the sight.
There, a small little boy, maybe around the age of 8, is holding who seems to be his little sister as she cries.
The poor girl can’t be any older than 3 or 4.
“I want Mom.” She blubbers out and the boy shushes her.
“I know, sissy, we just gotta-“ The boy looks around helplessly.
“Hey.” You call out, stepping around the rubble. “Hey, do you need help?”
The boy nods. “Mom said not to move but-“
You hold your hands out. “Stay where you are, okay? I’ll come get you and your sister alright?”
The boy nods, clinging to his sister’s hand.  You make your way through the rubble, kicking things out of the way to make a path back before finally reaching the two kids. You kneel down best as you can, leveling yourself to them as you introduce yourself.
“I’m here to help. Can you tell me your name?”
“I’m Jack.” The boy says. “This is Bella. She’s bleeding and I can’t find my Mom-“
“Hey, hey.” You soothe. “We’ll get you guys some help and get you out of here, okay? We’ll find your Mom.” You look at Bella. “Bella? Are you okay if I carry you? I’m going to help you find someone to patch that cut up, okay?” Bella nods and Jack lets her go as you scoop her up. You hold out your hand for Jack as the two of you navigate your way out.
As you weave your way through people, you ask Jack soft questions about himself, where he goes to school, if he likes dinosaurs or trucks, distracting him as he talks to you. Once you get the two kids to the EMTs, you duck around the side, in search of someone from your team.
“Kate.” You call, as she’s sifting through rubble, calling for a dog. She glances over at you. “Hey, I’ve got two little kids here who can’t find their Mom. I’m gonna stay with them but can you let the team know? Just in case anyone sees her.”
The face Kate makes is difficult to read as she nods. You sigh, making your way back around the truck.
Bella’s all patched up and Jack is studying the logo on your shirt, lighting up when he recognizes it.
“Mom lets me watch their YouTube channel sometimes!”
You scoop Bella back up in your arms, holding a hand out for Jack to jump down as you do.
“Oh well then I’m guessing you don’t want to come see the tornado-proof truck?”
-
It’s late in the day when Bella and Jack’s Mom comes running down the street, hysterical. Tyler and Kate aren’t far behind her.
Her arm is in a sling and there’s a few bumps and bruises on her, but otherwise she’s fine. Both of the kids light up at the sight of their Mom, and she’s tearful, thanking you over and over for helping them, for watching over her babies.
You wave her off, citing babysitting as just another thing you’re used to, a big family and all that.
It’s as they’re walking away, Dexter asking if you want any food, Jack shouts out.
They turn back, Bella running back to you with the stuffed animal she’d been holding in hand. You kneel down as she holds it out for you to take, heart aching as you look at the stuffed pig.
Bella had seen it atop your stuff when you’d taken them in the RV and had been holding it ever since.
It was one of the few things you had of your life left behind but you know when it’s time to let something go.
“You keep it okay?” You say softly. “You take care of yourself little Bella?” She wraps her arms around your neck, the stuffie clutched between her little fingers. You return the hug, exhaling as you do. Bella lets you go, returning to her Mom and her brother and you stand back up, wiping at your eyes with the back of your hand.
“Do you want some food? You’ve been with those kids all day.” Dani says softly, holding the box.
“How’d you find Mom?” You ask quietly, crossing your arms.
Tyler sighs. “Was sitting with her the whole afternoon when Kate came down the street, hearing her talk about her missing kids. Kate connected the dots.”
Your arms wrap around yourself tighter. “Kate, I told you I was with those kids. I told you to tell the team in case anybody found Mom.”
Kate opens her mouth but no words come out as Lilly’s eyes slide between the two of you.
“Here.” Lilly says gently as she holds the box out, taking it from Dani. “You should eat. Been a long day.”
“I’m not hungry.” You say. “I’m gonna get in the truck, let me know when we’re leaving.”
-
You sling your backpack over your shoulder, the truck door shutting behind you as you walk up the motel steps.
The backpack, downsized from your duffel bag as Tyler had gone through the Oklahoma necessities with you, which was hardly anything you owned, feels heavy as you do.
“Hey.” Kate’s voice calls out. “That was a really nice thing you did for that little girl.”
Tears sting at your eyes as you push the key into the lock, pressing against the door with your body weight to get the door to unstick.
You think Tyler says something as you shut the door but under the hot water of the shower rushing down you, you can’t hear anything else.
-
You clear your throat, announcing your presence as you do. Tyler and Kate pause in their conversation as they look over to you.
You set the folder down in front of Tyler, Javi’s pullover in front of Kate.
“Just wanted to give these to you. Tyler, do you want me to just wait in the truck?”
Tyler peeks at the folder as Kate asks “Wait for what?”
“What is all of this?” Tyler asks, flipping through the pages.
“Research on potential investors and their backgrounds. Just so you guys don’t get into another StormPar situation. There’s some stuff about grants, donors in there. Other stuff I tracked down about how you could grow your social media, ideas I had. There might be a couple of pages about laws on people donating, not sure. It’s everything I’ve done this week. Y’all don’t have to use it but I just thought it might be helpful as lead points.”
“This is- this is really great stuff.” Tyler remarks. “It’s gonna be a real loss to not have your brain on our team.”
“Wait - are you leaving?” Kate asks, eyes flying between you and Tyler.
“I’ll meet you at the truck.” You say, turning to leave. You think you hear Kate repeat the question to Tyler, but you shut the door to the RV before you can hear their conversation further. Across the parking lot, Javi calls out, but you wave him off as you climb into the passenger seat of Tyler’s truck.
Your heart feels heavy as you look at your own Javy’s contact.
It would be so easy to pick up the phone, to tell him you made a mistake, to beg him to let you come home.
He would too, and he would pick you up from the airport, and he’d wash the Oklahoma from your skin, and he’d hold you through the loss.
But then you remember Jake’s defeated look as the two of you had assessed the damage, the way he’d asked you to lie.
You remember the blood-
A startled gasp leaves you as someone knocks on the window.
It’s Kate.
You roll down the window.
“You’re leaving?”
You eye her, unsure why she appears to be almost nervous, fingernails digging into the soft flesh of her arms.
“Yeah?”
“Why?”
You shrug, surveying the team in the parking lot. “It just didn’t work out. I didn’t fit here.”
“But-“ She worries her bottom lip. “Where will you go?”
“I’ll figure it out.” You say simply.
You’d have to because you knew the alternative would be devastating to everyone you’d ever known.
She sighs, eyes flickering to Tyler, who’s moving closer. “Well, we’re headed to my Mom’s tonight. You should stay one more night. You’ve never even had real Oklahoma barbecue.”
A dry laugh escapes you without your permission. “Kate, what are you playing at here?”
She seems shocked, not expecting your question. “What do you mean?”
You roll your eyes, huffing. “Kate, c’mon, you told Tyler you didn’t want me here.”
Her face drops as her arms fall by her sides. “You heard that?” She says quietly.
“Yeah.”
She licks her lips. “Look, I ain’t good with new people. I’m- It’s a me thing.” She looks down, scuffing her boot on the ground. “It’s my problem and I misjudged you. I’m sorry. Give me another night to show you how it could be.”
“Why the hell would I stay to see how it could be when I know at this moment I’m not wanted here?”
“I do.” She says softly. “Want you here. I was wrong and I’m sorry.”
You let out breath through your nose, meeting Tyler’s eyes through the windshield.
You think of Dexter’s food, Javi’s pullover, Dani and Lilly’s gentle insistence you feed yourself last night.
You think of the Louisiana area code sitting open on your phone right now.
“One night, Kate.”
-
“I sure am sorry you’ll have to sleep on the floor. I just wasn’t expecting an extra person from the crew but we can make sure you have somewhere to sleep tomorrow night-“
You cut her off, holding your hands out for the dishes from dinner. “That’s very kind of you Ms. Cooper, but I’m just fine sleeping on the floor.”
“Please, I keep telling you to just call me Cathy and, well, you could stay in Kate’s bed?” Cathy offers as you take the plates from her.
“Think you’d find my throat slit tomorrow.” You mutter and Tyler barks out a laugh.
“You deserved that one Kate.”
Cathy turns to her daughter, a look on her face. “What did you do?”
Kate pulls a face, holding her hands out. “What- Nothing, Mom!”
Cathy hums, eyebrows furrowing but you cut them off. “The floor is just fine, Ms. Cooper. Um, do you mind pointing me in the direction of the bathroom so I could change?”
-
“Do Tyler and Kate have a thing?” You ask, taking a sip of the hot chocolate Lilly had made as Javi chuckles next to you.
You’re watching the group fight over Uno, you and Javi sat in front of a puzzle.
“They did at one point. When they first met, but they burned out pretty fast. Figured out they were better off as friends.” You hum and Javi’s grin grows. “Why, you thinking you want to start something up with Owens?”
You blanch and shake your head. “No, I think I’ve more than had my fill on macho thrill seekers for this lifetime.”
Javi lets out a laugh, a real one, for the first time all week. You smile, thinking of how Tyler would fit in with those pilots like he’d always belonged there.
You were all set on those types.
Kate though…
If Kate hadn’t been so cold to you, Kate would’ve been the type of girl you could see yourself falling for.
Witty, bright, a soft smile always worn on her face. She’s at ease here and it makes your heart hurt to see. You want to someday be as at ease as she looks, wedged in between Boone and Dexter, the brightest smile you’ve seen from her on her face.
“So how the hell does a city girl like you find herself in Oklahoma?”
You slide a puzzle piece into place. “I don’t, I don’t really want to talk about it, if that’s okay.”
Javi sighs, quiet for a minute. “Look, I’m sorry we were so off-putting when you first got here. We’re a tight knit group and we’ve been through a lot together. And-“
“Javi.” You cut him off with a tight smile. “You don’t have to explain. I get it, okay? You guys aren't the first group to not want me around and you won’t be the last, alright?”
He heaves a breath, an unreadable look on his face. “Just- if anyone might understand the things you’re running from, it would be us.”
“Who says I’m running?”
Javi raises an eyebrow and you sigh, setting the pieces you’re sorting through down.
“Look, I’m not running. I’m just- I’m just trying to leave something behind.”
Javi studies you for a few minutes as you set back to work on the puzzle.
“Shame you and Kate can’t get along. You two are more alike than you think.”
-
You awake with a start, fingers clenching in unfamiliar fabric.
“Are you okay?” Someone asks softly and you blink, Kate coming into focus.
Right, you had- you had slept next to her last night after she’d worn you down. You couldn’t deny how nice it had sounded to sleep in a real bed.
“Fine.” You breathe, willing yourself to forget the shouts of a friend left behind.
She frowns as she pulls her pants on. “I’m, uh, sorry for waking you up. Gotta help Mom with the cows.”
You wave a hand, pulling yourself to sit up in the bed. “Want a hand?”
“Mom would kill me if I let a guest help. Why don’t you get some more sleep, okay?”
You lay back down as she quietly ducks out of the room, but you know sleep won’t come.
You’re restless so you pull yourself from the bed, padding down the staircase and sitting in one of the chairs on the porch. Tyler appears a minute later, an extra coffee mug in hand. You take it from him with a quiet thank you before the two of you start to watch Kate.
“So California, are we gonna talk about it?” Tyler asks.
You sigh as Tyler kicks his feet out. “Well, you’re gonna ask me questions I don’t want to answer and I’m gonna ask you ones you don’t want to answer, so unless you want to start copping to some things…”
Tyler shakes his head. “Won’t talk about it then, California.”
You eye him. “I’d prefer it if you didn’t call me that. Sort of hard to leave that life behind when you keep calling me that.”
“You gonna stay?” Tyler asks, looking over at you.
You shrug, finger running over the rim of the mug. “I don’t know that I should.”
“I know it’s been a rough start with them.” Tyler sighs, shoulders hiked up. “But they’re good people.”
“I don’t doubt that.”
“You’re good people too.”
“Doesn’t make me a good fit here.”
Tyler sighs. “It’s my fault, I should’ve approached it a different way. But if you leave, we’d really be missing out. You’ve got those fancy degrees and you’re smart and you’re one fucking selfless girl. We could use someone like you around.”
Kate and her Mom appear, Kate’s bright smile appearing as she pulls herself onto the railing of the porch.
“You guys hungry? I’m gonna go get started on breakfast.”
“Starved.”
“Wanna come see the barn?” Kate asks you as her Mom opens the screen door.
“Now hang on, California ain’t said if she’s staying. No reason to show her the barn if she’s gonna be leaving.”
You sigh, look down at the mug you can feel going cold. You rub your thumb over the Oklahoma written into the side as you think of Kate’s smile, of Tyler’s kindness, of Dexter’s food, of Javi’s pullover that had somehow ended back up in your bag after giving it back to Tyler and Kate yesterday.
You blink, looking back up at them. “Okay. Yeah, okay, I’ll stay."

Chapter Eleven - What Every Guy Says
While Tyler blew the end of a hot dog on fire, you grabbed two more beers out of the cooler. Even though the shack was small, you enjoyed the simplicity of it; not having any neighbors for miles and miles on end. Granted, being 30 minutes from the closest small town wasn’t the best if you needed something from the grocery store.
As much as you were excited for Tyler to meet your parents, what if they didn’t like him? Or what if it didn’t work and he just ended up hurting you, even if he did reassure you he wasn’t going to? No amount of comforting words or physical actions could prevent your brain from the negative waves hitting you. Years of trauma and empty promises kept your heart under lock and key. Where did that key go? You had no idea, for all you knew it was taken away in a tornado for Mother Nature to hold onto.
You were still timid, you knew there was something special to be had with Tyler. Even though you were scared, you were that much more excited.
“What is that pretty mind thinking about now?” He asked, sitting next to you and handing you a plate with two semi-burnt hot dogs.
“Oh you know, all my trauma,” you said, taking a sip of your beer.
“When you’re comfortable, you can share it with me,” he said, stabbing his hot dog with a plastic fork and biting the end off.
“We’ll see about that,” you sighed, gently pressing the fork into your dog.
You didn’t have the heart to tell him everything you had gone through in your short lifespan. Most of the things had been shoved so far back in your memory archives that they only were brought out when you were in a very dark place.
“Someday, darlin’,” he said, taking a drink of his beer and looking over at you with a goofy grin.
“What’s your middle name?” You asked, trying to change the topic to anything but you.
“James, you?” He said, taking a bite of his hot dog.
“(Y/m/n),” you said, finishing your first.
“(Y/n) (Y/m/n) (Y/l/n),” he said to himself softly, “I like it, but it would sound better with Owens.”
“That’s what every guy has said,” you said, poking your fork through the last dog and tossing your paper plate into the fire.
“Ouch,” he said softly, “I thought we established that I’m not like every guy.”
“Again, what every guy says,” you said, looking over at him with a slight smirk.
“I’m not winning this, am I?” He asked, hanging his head and then looking over at you.
“Nope,” you said, leaning back in your chair and sipping on your beer.
“Gotcha,” he said, finishing off his beer and tossing it into the fire.
“What would you want to do if you couldn’t chase anymore?” You asked while looking into the fire.
This brought a silence over him, he had never really thought about what he would do. He only ever thought about what his life would be like after.
“I guess maybe a rancher or a trainer for people who want to ride bulls,” he said, leaning back in his seat, “What about you?”
You smiled slightly as you had thought about it more often than you’d like to admit. Throughout your life, you’ve always had a backup plan for anything you strived to achieve fell out from beneath you.
“I’d take over my parents' cattle farm,” you said, leaning your head back and then looking up at the horizon which was painted various shades of red, orange, yellow, and some blue, “Be able to start a family with whoever I end up with, have them grow up on the farm I was raised on and doing the same stinky chores I had to do.”
He laughed softly, “That sounds like quite the plan, princess.”
“I’ve given it some thought,” you said, taking your phone out of your back pocket and getting up.
“Where do you think you’re goin’?” He asked, tossing his plate into the fire.
“To capture the sunset, even if it won’t do it justice,” you said, walking over beside the shack to get the trees out of your way and raising your phone.
While you were preoccupied with getting the perfect picture of the sunset, Tyler was getting one of you. He smiled at his phone screen. It was his perfect picture. You, Ol’ Red, and the shack that was his second home all in one picture. He made it his lock screen and made the one of you asleep on the couch his home screen.
“You got any pets back home?” He asked,
“Yeah, two golden retrievers,” you said, walking back to him and scooting your chair a little closer to his.
“Names or do I have to wait to meet them?” He laughed, setting his phone down and grabbing another beer.
“Willie and Waylon,” you said, finishing your beer and leaning into your seat.
“Like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings?” He asked, handing you a bottle.
“Yeah,” you said, twisting the top off.
“That’s cute,” he said, “I have a Saint Bernard at home with my aunt.”
“Name?” You asked slightly mocking Tyler, “Or do I have to wait to meet them?”
He laughed, “Cash.”
“Like Johnny?” You asked, playing with the label on the beer.
“Exactly,” he said, stretching his legs out and grabbing your hand that was playing with the label.
“Should get a female and name her June,” you said, “Like Johnny and June.”
“Maybe someday,” he said, “He’s still pretty young, like two years old.”
“Ah, Willie and Waylon are brothers. From different litters, but only two years apart,” you said, “Willie is five and Waylon is three.”
“Sounds like we’ll have a good mix,” he said, “Cash was a rescue after a tornado went through… He wasn’t chipped and had no collar. The team and I asked around for what felt like weeks with no answers. So he became my little buddy, but he became so terrified of storms I decided to keep him with my aunt.”
“Poor thing,” you said softly, “I’m glad you found him and gave him a good home though.”
“Oh yeah, he gets spoiled rotten,” he laughed, “It gives me peace of mind with my aunt being home alone.”
“You and your aunt seem pretty close,” you said, looking over at him.
“Yeah, she’s a second mother to me,” he said softly, “After my parents passed she was all I had.”
“I’m sorry, Ty,” you sighed softly, squeezing his hand.
“Don’t be, it was a long time ago. I’ve come to terms with it,” he said, squeezing your hand back.
“Doesn’t change the fact that it happened and it’s a horrible thing for a person to go through, especially at such a young age,” you said, looking over at him while he stared into the flames.
“I know it doesn’t, and as much as it may still hurt, I know I can’t do anything to bring them back besides to join them,” he said, “But I have too much blue sky ahead of me to do that.”
You couldn’t help but tear up at the man who you were starting to view as indestructible with tears welling in his eyes. You leaned over and placed your lips to his cheek softly, putting your hand on his other cheek. You knew someday you would experience the pain of losing your parents, but it was a pain you didn’t want to face just yet in life.
“I’m so sorry, Ty,” you whispered against his cheek, not knowing what else to say.
“Baby, don’t be,” he said, wiping his eyes, “Besides, I have the Wranglers, my aunt, Cash, and now you to live for.”

What's In A Name? Chapter Two
Meg Harding and Kate Carter were inseparable until their friends died five ago, then she ran to New Orleans to save lives as a paramedic. But when Javi calls on his two oldest friends to help him collect data, counting on their matching natural instincts for tornadoes, Meg goes home for the first time in years. That's where she meets Tyler and the rest of the Wranglers, the YouTube storm chasers her dad likes to watch, and finds herself fitting in more with them than with Storm PAR. Meg only plans to stay for the week but will it be easy to leave when the dust settles?
If a certain cowboy has a say in it, nothing about leaving is going to be easy.
A/N: A failed tornado chase and a long night at the bonfire.

Previous Chapter
Welp. That had been a shit show. Kate had panicked before Meg and Javi could get the PAR on the ground, nearly driving off without them. Javi had been frustrated out of the gate but quickly realized just how pale their friend had gotten, the trauma clear in her eyes. Neither of them needed to ask what she had been thinking, it was clear as day that Kate had been reliving the EF-5 that had taken their friends.
Meg had been shaken being so close to a tornado again but she had come to terms with the situation a long time ago thanks both to her line of work as a paramedic and to the views on life and death in her adoptive home of New Orleans.
By the time they pulled into the shitty motel they’d be staying in for the night, the parking lot was filled with chasers throwing a little party, drinking, smoking, and dancing. There were even a few bonfires going, which Meg was sure the owners of the motel loved.
“Haven’t we stayed here before?” Javi asked as the trio strolled towards the motel, Meg scrunched her nose, trying to recall if they had stayed at this specific shitty motel before.
“Yeah, Javi,” Kate chuckled, “We’ve stayed in every motel in Oklahoma.” The three of them laughed, they really had stayed in a lot of motels while chasing storms for Kate and Parveen’s research.
“Remember we used to have Addy check in?” Javi reminisced, “Then later, we’d all sneak into the room just so we could all save ten bucks?” Kate and Meg were nodding along to the memories and Kate slipped her hand into Meg’s intertwining their fingers like old times. “We’d have Addy do it because she just looked-”
“So sweet,” The trio said together, laughing.
“She was also a cover hog, Kate and I would always end up cuddled up together to stay warm.” Kate snorted,
“And Parveen’s snoring?”
“Oh my god, not even industrial earplugs could block him out,” Javi added and they trailed off into a comfortable silence. “Hey, um, do you guys want to hang out later?” Javi asked and before Meg could agree, Kate was already shaking her head.
“We’re a little tired, Javi,” Kate spoke for the two of them like she always had. It didn’t bother Meg but she also wished that Kate was more open to having some fun after what they had been through that day. “Maybe another night?” Javi’s face fell but he recovered quickly, smiling at them.
“Yeah, alright, goodnight.”
“Night, Jav,” Meg hugged him tight, giving him a peck on the cheek. “Take a shower, you stink,”
“Yet somehow you still smell fresh as a cow’s ass, Meg,” Javi teased, ruffling her already messy hair. Kate pulled her away from Javi towards their shared room, quietly humming a tune Meg didn’t recognize. “It’s good to have y’all back!”
“I’m not back,” Kate shook her head with a smile. Javi’s eyes landed on Meg who was grinning, shrugging,
“You’ve got a week to convince me, Jav.” That lit his face up like a kid on Christmas.
They were halfway up a set of stairs when Tyler’s voice stopped them.
“City Girl, Louisiana,” The rest of the Wranglers shouted in greeting. Seeing them up close and personal, Meg was reminded not only of her friends but of her family, the chasers who she had grown up around and it made her smile. This was why her dad and the crew liked watching the streams so much, they saw themselves in the Wranglers and now that’s all Meg could see. A fondness grew in her heart for them. “The cells to the west will choke each other out, they said. The one to the east will put on a show.” Boone had a shit-eating grin on his face, obviously drunk as he hung off the side of Tyler’s truck.
“Well, it didn’t throw you off the scent,” Kate bit out with fake amusement.
“Hey, that’s what makes Tyler famous,” Boone gestured to his friend, who flushed at the compliment, turning his attention back to the weather instrument he was fixing.
“On YouTube?” Kate teased sarcastically but Boone was too far gone to get the nuance of the situation.
“Uh, yeah, yeah. We’re on YouTube.” He looked towards the rest of the crew, “We got what? About a million subscribers now?” The Wranglers whooped in excitement.
“Yes, sir,” The one Meg recognized as Lily chimed in, focused on her drone. Ben, the reporter from earlier in the day, came closer with his little notepad.
“Um, Kate and Meg what? In case I mention you in the article I’m writing,” Kate physically pulled away from the situation, trying and failing to look relaxed.
“Um, just Kate’s fine.”
“Starts with an H if that helps, Ben,” Meg gave him a tight smile, unwilling to share her famous surname in a parking lot full of chasers. Ben dutifully noted the information.
“They’re tricky,” Tyler remarked. Boone took over again, leaning dangerously far off of the truck.
“Actually, you made a good call earlier. The other cell looked stronger but the cap never broke.”
“What’s a cap?” Ben looked painfully confused and Meg felt bad for him, being so out of his element. Dexter’s explanation didn’t help much so Meg added in,
“Think of it as a shield in the atmosphere that prevents a tornado from forming.” That’s how Preacher had explained it to her as a kid, she saw the lightbulb go off in Ben’s head as he scribbled it down. “Are you hurt, Ben?” The man touched his temple where there was a bit of dried blood,
“‘Tis but a flesh wound, my dear.” Meg rolled her eyes, dropping her backpack on the ground and hopping the railing, landing deftly on the ground with the Wranglers with her heavy medical bag on her shoulder.
“Let the professional be the judge of that.” Meg knelt, digging out an alcohol wipe and a few bandages while the conversation flowed around them.
“Where did you guys all meet?” Kate asked, “Did you all study meteorology at U of A?” That got a laugh out of the rowdy group, none of whom had formally studied besides Tyler.
“This is going to burn for a second probably, alright, Sweetie?” Ben winced as she swiped away the dried blood. The wound wasn’t big, already scabbed over, so Meg put a regular bandaid on it, one of the bandaids she kept for kids with a smiling kitten on it. “Right as rain. Anyone else need a checkup?”
“You a doctor?” Lily asked, both brows raised.
“Nah, just a paramedic but I can fix you up if something’s bothering you.”
“Well, I hit my bicep on the camper door, I think you should kiss it better,” Dani said with a grin, teasing her. Meg rolled her eyes but happily crossed their set up to the impressively muscular woman. “Right here, Doc.” She flexed, pointing to a perfectly tan spot on her arm.
“I agree with your diagnosis, here,” Meg kissed the woman’s arm, “All better?”
“Here hurts too,” She pointed at her cheek and Meg obliged. “Thanks, Doc. All better.”
“I guarantee you, these guys have seen more tornadoes than anyone else on this lot combined.”
“Not likely,” Meg snorted softly. Dani gave her a questioning look, “Not my first rodeo by a long shot, Sweet Thing.”
“Really, do tell, Doc,” Meg shook her head, “I ain’t nearly drunk enough to start telling stories.”
“Dexter, get this fine-looking woman a beer,” Meg looked up at Kate who was shaking her head with an easy smile on her face, used to Meg making friends anywhere they went.
“Where are you chasing tomorrow?” Lily asked Kate, who looked like she was going to answer when Tyler interrupted her. Dexter dutifully handed Meg an unopened can of Budweiser.
“Oh no, no, no, not falling for that again. Kate’s from New York, you can’t trust a word she says.” Meg snorted, covering it up with a cough, thanking Dexter for the beer. Tyler must have never heard a New York accent before because Kate’s twang, as much as she tried to hide it, was so clearly southern.
“Well, you can always trust a guy who puts his face on a t-shirt,” Kate snarked with a grin, getting yet another laugh out of the Wranglers. “See you in the room, Mud Bug.” Kate shouldered Meg’s bag and headed up the stairs.
Dani pulled a folding chair out of the van and motioned for Meg to join them, Boone, who had been focused on Kate, joined them after a few seconds.
“You seem like a cool cat, Meg. Don’t tell me you got one of those fancy degrees too,” Meg shook her head, taking a sip of the cold beer with a sigh.
“Just a bachelor's in public health.”
“So you were sniffing the dirt for fun?” Tyler called down from the top of his truck,
“Said I never studied, doesn’t mean I haven’t been around more twisters than in your wildest dreams,” Meg called back, getting a pat on the shoulder from Dani. “Here, Sweet Thing, my first tattoo,” She pointed to her bicep, where there was a large illustration of a tornado with Dorothy’s sensors flying in it.
“Shit, that’s cool, what’s in it?”
“Y’all know about Dorothy?” Dexter perked up, spinning around,
“I do!”
“What’s Dorothy?” Ben asked, pen poised over his notebook again. Meg would have to text her mom about this, it would make her coo with laughter imagining her daughter enthralling a group of chasers and a reporter with stories about her and her husband’s old project.
“It revolutionized tornado data,” Dexter spoke excitedly.
“Yep, two Muskogee State PhDs and their team came up with the idea to send sensors up a tornado’s funnel, which recorded real-time data about the tornado. Allowing them to create a better early warning system.”
“Bill and Jo Harding,” Dexter added, “They’re legends in the field.” Meg had a sneaking suspicion that Dexter would have a heart attack if he ever met her parents. “Can I see it?” He gestured to her arm and she held it out for him. Dexter snapped a photo of it with his phone with Meg’s permission.
“Seeing a twister suck up those sensors is a godly experience,” Meg teased, taking a long drink of her beer as she watched her words sink in.
“You’ve watched Dorothy be deployed?”
“Many times, like I said, not my first rodeo. Kate and Jav’s seen it too once or twice.” Boone’s face soured,
“What are you doing with that crowd anyway? Storm PAR ain’t great company to keep.” Meg filed that information away for a later date, not wanting to ruin the moment.
“I ain’t here to be with them, I’m here for Kate, who’s here to help out an old friend.” Boone seemed satisfied with that answer,
“Shit, you got a lot of tattoos.”
“This ain’t even all of them, Boonie Baby,” She realized her mistake as soon as the nickname left her mouth. Lily was the first to round on her,
“You watch our streams?”
“I’ve seen a few minutes here and there, darlin’, enough to know who y’all are.” Tyler climbed down off of the truck, giving her an appraising look that had Meg turning pink.
“I was right, Louisiana, you are a tricky one.” Meg rolled her eyes, “What’s so funny?”
“Not from Louisiana, Arkansas,” Boone chuckled at his friend’s expense, patting him on the shoulder. “Take another guess.”
“Texas?”
“Say that again and I’ll slash your tires, Sweetie Pie,” Meg was a proud Sooners fan, her hatred for the Texas Longhorns running deep. Tyler barked out a laugh, shaking his head.
“An Oklahoma girl then, I should’ve known.” Ben looked confused again, so Meg bailed him out, explaining the college football rivalry. “So, if this isn’t your first rodeo, what was?”
“You always goin’ around askin’ girls what their first tornadoes were?” Meg teased,
“Only the pretty ones.” Meg’s blush deepened, “So, what was it, Oklahoma?” Meg finished her beer,
“Got anything stronger?” Boone happily fetched her another can, this time it was purple with a high APV rating on the bottom. He perched himself on the edge of the table Lily was working on, Tyler coming to stand at his side.
“My parents loved to chase a storm, any storm, and when I was five we were out to dinner when dad realized something big was about to break. So, they threw me in the car, and off we went. It came down right in front of us, maybe a hundred yards down the road. We were stupid close to an F-3,”
“EF-3, you mean?” Tyler tried to correct her, eyes widening when she shook her head.
“This was 2001, Sweetie Pie, now hush, I’m telling a story.”
“Yeah, Ty, hush,” Dani huffed. Meg took great pleasure in Tyler’s blush and the way he looked away from the group to hide it.
“It was beautiful, watching it uproot the trees along the road, eating everything in its path. I tried to get my mom to open up the sunroof so I could climb out and see it better.”
“You weren’t scared?” Ben asked, writing notes. Meg had never been scared of a tornado in her life, something her parents accused each other of teaching her. Not even after the incident, she respected them and the damage they could do of course.
Mother Nature was not someone she wanted to mess with but she had always just found the storms to be chaotic, wild, and absolutely thrilling. Being scared of dying was another question, one she hadn’t been asked and wasn’t going to answer. Her wrist started to ache and Meg switched the hand holding her drink.
“You know when you see a lion at the zoo? It’s kind of like that, you know it’s a killing machine and could and would rip you to shreds without breaking a sweat but you also can’t help but admire how majestic and beautiful it is.”
“God, look at his face,” Lily scoffed, looking at Tyler. Meg glanced his way and found him staring back at her with a look she couldn’t read but one of his friends seemed to understand.
“But you’re a paramedic, not a chaser?” Ben prompted, drawing her attention away from the cowboy.
“That’s right, storms are the love of my life but helping people, that’s what I’m good at. But enough about me, who else has some stories? Laissez les bons temps rouler!”
“Hell yeah!” Boone tapped his can to hers, “I like you!”

WHO MV ANALYSIS: BRILLIANT STORY TELLING, QUEER CODING AND MORE
I have a lot to say. And yes i positively feel like a clown that this post comes right after jimin said "go ahead, misinterpret everything hehe". This might be a long one, so settle in. Also, if you are looking for this as some kind of validation for any ship, I'm afraid it might not serve that purpose (BUT keep reading!). This is simply an analysis of MV elements and cinematography in its purest form appreciating the brilliant work done by Lumpens and his assistant directors.
Part 1: Start of the story of a man in search of love
Let's start from the very beginning. Many of you have already figured out that Jimin is telling a story here (I'm not wrong yet Jimin, dammit). How do we know this? Look at that mini TV. Yes, this mini TV is actually our bookmark, our storyteller. In it's first appearance, it says "play" with a man walking at a normal pace, imitating jimin here, who is also walking.
Elements to notice here:-
The 'ONLY' signs on the road which mean these roads have only limited accessibility when it comes to directions. In my opinion, it symbolizes the rules that this world imposes on us. And here comes jimin whining/asking why he hasn't met 'her' even if he sees her at night? (imagines her) and thinks about her.
Tumblr media
2. Also notice how it says "BLISS" on the neon sign but the world he's in is basically pre-tornado winds - there are papers flying, cars on fire, safety barrier tapes, even the mini TV is on fire. The flyer for the song says "who is!! Tornado of love" and basically serves as a warning that the 'tornado of love' is approaching soon.
3. Reference to 'Closer' (than this?) on the billboard with a man on it. Looks like a reference to a movie or song of 1995 which I haven't been able to find out yet. [help me]
Part 2: Searching gets more desperate
Moving on, we see Jimin entering the part of street with an old, dilapidated building in the background (so much to notice here!!)
Tumblr media
Elements to look out:
Firstly, look at the mini TV which still says 'play' but the man in the TV is now running instead of walking. Just like how Jimin's steps are faster now, he's on his search for 'her', but he's getting desperate.
Notice the engineers in the background? Yes they are engineers- they have plans, measuring devices etc. And they are working to "renovate" the building. Interesting choice of scene right before a tornado... let's found out why-
Notice that on the right side to the entrance of this building, there's "B-1" written on the walls, but one could also read it at "13 1" At first glance, that's what it seemed like to me. I think people renovating a building whose name looks like a "13" is symbolism for jimin trying to heal/renovate/repair his heart/emotions/past traumas. It's about him still being in that phase where he is healing/ trying to heal himself by trying to find 'her' OR maybe he's trying to find 'her' when he is not even completely healed himself.
See the TV on the shopping cart on fire because it will be referenced later. Put a pin on it.
Part-3 Theatrics
With a flash of retro cable TV like lights, the perspective changes - as in now you are watching inside the mini TV. I'm talking about this part, when he changes direction and goes to the girl. So many interesting things happen, I'm giddy thinking about writing it.
Tumblr media
Elements to notice:
I can't help but think of the words 'auto calibration ' that flashes right before Jimin does that cunty choreo with the female dancer. 'auto calibration ' literally means 'standardization' or 'correction' . I don't think people realise how queer coded it is. 'coded' being the keyword here. It could also mean 'standardized' as in the way we view idols as these perfect people with perfect dating lives.
Tumblr media
3. The car is on fire- so yeah whatever is happening cannot be good. Everything is still chaotic and doesn't make it easy
2. The mini TV now shows various images with a heart '<3' symbolizing that he is engaging in some kind of relationship, but this is literally the biggest 'drama' ever. Because look at this scene- it's pure cinema..
Tumblr media
"So many people to see" - people watching them date/engage while making a whole show out of it. There's also an ambulance nearby because obviously an idol's dating life shown to the public can leave people hurt and offended. As Jimin and the girl dance, they are literally in front of a local theatre called the 'OASIS'. My interpretation is that a celeb's dating life is literally 'theatrics' for the public. They are reduced to nothing but characters for entertainment, and worst part is that the public isn't happy either. No wonder, making it extremely difficult for Jimin to find true love. Special mention where the girl has him in a chokehold, quite literally an uncomfortable position, entangled with each other- or at least that's how the public views them.
3) In the same scene we see that the mini TV has tumbled down along with the shopping cart which was on fire, hence setting the car on fire too lol. Brilliant attention to detail.
Tumblr media
Part-4 - where Jimin gets more desperate to find true love (in the past!)
As soon as the dancers leave, we see the huge billboard fall down and if i go with all the clues we have been getting, especially the travel show...it is WILD.
Because people are focusing on the possible OST called "Keep going", but DO YOU NOT REALISE HOW HUGE IT IS THAT JK IS REFERENCED IN A ROMANTIC SONG? dropping from the sky with 'who' written on it??!! "Who" without the questions or exclamations. I'll let you go delulu mode on that one. Moving on-
You must have noticed that to show a change in phase/scene, they have used multicolored flashes and change to 90s TV perspective. The same happens now after the billboard drops but the important thing to notice is the "rewind" on the screen now. Which basically means jimin going through different people is a thing of the past.
Tumblr media
3. The crow/raven seen multiple times in the MV. Either way, a crow or raven is not something we see at night. They come out only at times of 'unnatural exceptions' like storms, earthquakes etc because they are not nocturnal creatures. While Jimin was trying to find love, there was definitely something happening which wasn't natural for him or was out of his comfort zone/he was not himself.
4. Another instance of queer coding I noticed was both men and women walking past him, similar to Like Crazy MV. It had a different symbolism in LC because he was trying to stay in the dream. But here people walking past him clearly means possible romantic partners. And he keeps stopping, keeps trying his luck with different people, almost always failing. OR- it could mean there are people of both genders walking past him but he never goes for the men in the past.
Part-5 - The tornado of love finally arrives
Now it says 'Play' on the screen meaning we are now in the present again. The tornado has built up, Jimin looks more confident, more smug as the tornado gains momentum behind him.
Tumblr media
A flash of light, fireworks erupt as he sings his heart out. Even after the tornado is completely gone, the sparks and short circuits and destruction continues, meaning the 'tornado of love' arrived and certainly did a number on him.
Tumblr media
Finally, we see him on a much calmer path. All cars lined up. He owns his life now. The situation is under control, the cars with lights on, ready to go.
Tumblr media
I truly appreciate the storytelling in WHO MV. Lumpens Sir delivering as always. And I would love to know which things were Jimin's ideas but he wouldn't share that with us would he?
Tumblr media
Let me know what you think and discuss in the comments if you want to.

@nikkicloudie @thespillingvoid @turnerintoabutler @Lindsayjoy444 @glenpowellluver @harrysgothicbitch @ambipom9 @lxaah11
Third Person POV:
Scott and Tyler pace the hospital waiting area waiting for any news on Y/n, who had been in surgery the last 4 hours. It's safe to say they were both going crazy. Y/n had been air lifted to Oklahoma city due to her injuries and the fact the hospital in the small town where the tornado had hit was destroyed.
Tyler had called their mom and dad who were in London visiting friends but they booked the first flight out, and would be there sometime early the next day. Scott had got in touch with Casey and Ashleigh who were gonna drive all night from Chicago, which was about a 13 hour drive.
"When are we gonna know something this is crazy it's been hours" Scotts says still pacing the waiting room. "Dude come sit they will come out once they are done, making a hole in the floor isn't gonna make them hurry up, why don't you have coffee or something?" Javi says from his seat "I agree with Javi Tyler come sit down too I'll go get you both some coffee" the 2 men hear Kate say. They look over to her and nod but just as they are making their way over to the seats the Dr comes out
"The family of Y/n Owens" both Scott and Tyler practally run to him
"I'm Tyler I'm her brother and this is Scott her boyfriend is my sister ok" Tyler ask the Dr, "please say she's alive please" Scott adds
"Good evening I'm Dr. Mitchell I was the nero surgeon for y/n, and Dr.Teller was her orthopedic surgeon. Y/n made it through the surgery but she is not out of the woods just yet, she suffered a traumatic brain injury more specifically Subdural hemorrhage which is a brain bleed due to the impact of the tree branch. I was able to stop the bleed but there is some swelling which is normal but it will take some time to heal. As for her leg I'll let Dr. Teller explain" the dr says looking to the other dr.
"whatever hit y/n leg cut very deep and hit the bone and broke her tibia its what known as a spiral brake so she does have a few screws holding it in place and I able reattach her calf muscle. She also has staples in holding the wound closed and she will be a leg brace for sometime". Dr. Teller explains
"She did lose a good bit of blood so she did have to be given 2 pints. She's gonna remain in the ICU until she wakes up" Dr. Mitchell explains looking at both men "how long will it take for her to wake up" Scott ask "That's hard to tell but if I had to guess a few days as long as nothing changes as of now. We also had OB come in and check on the babies and they are both fine and are not in any danger"
At those words both Scott and Tyler look at the Dr as if he has 3 heads "what babies" they both ask at once dumbfounded "Miss Owens is about 6 weeks pregnant with twins did neither of you know" Dr. Mitchell ask confused "does this look like the faces of men that knew his girlfriend or sister was pregnant...and with twins" Scott ask
"I'm sorry this is how you found out but congratulations" he smiles at Scott, "y/n is still in the recovery room, but as soon she is moved to her room you can both go see her, I'll have a nurse come out and get you, if you have any questions let us know, again congratulations" and with that the Dr walks away.
"You knocked my sister up are you serious Miller" Tyler looks over to Scott
"I'm gonna be a dad of twins" is all Scott can say
They didn't see the group coming over "so what did he say" "is she ok" "when can we see her" they hear as a few of their friends start asking questions but they don't care they just continue "Answer me you knocked my sister up I thought she was on the pill she told me today she was so how the hell did this happen don't you know what a condom is Miller" Tyler says a little louder then he meant to "holy shit y/n's pregnant" Dani says "Yeah with twins" Tyler says looking at the group "TWINS" the whole group says at once
"She is on the pill and it's none of your business if we use condoms Owens were adults but since your asking no we don't use them she's been on the pill since before we met we didn't think we needed to" Scott says looking at Tyler "damn Scott you got some strong swimmers if she got pregnant with twins while on the pill but congrats man" Boone says slapping Scotts back. "Boone now is not the time" Tyler looks to Boone.
"How the hell am I am gonna tell our parents y/n's pregnant with twins and we found out because she had to have brain surgery...from getting hit in the head trying to save a dog...while an EF5 tornado was heading for us" Tyler runs his hand through his hair "I'm so dead" he adds
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Scott sits at y/n bed side holding her hand. He can't believe he's gonna be father of twins, he was happy, scared, shocked, he was feeling every emotion he had. He knew he wanted a family with y/n it didn't matter when but finding out this way was not how he pictured it.
"Well babygirl looks like we are starting our little family a bit earlier then we planned, so you have to get better you have to wake up!" Scott says in a soft voice "I don't know if you can hear me but I promise to be the best father to our babies and one day the best husband, I love you 3 so much! I knew I wanted to marry you for the moment I laid eyes on the night I heard you laugh in the parking lot. You have been it for me since that night and I didn't know your name so please wake up baby not just me but our babies" Scott says as a test rolls down his face, he's holding your hand as he talks and all of a sudden he feels your finger move and he smile as another tear rolls down his face. "I knew you could hear me baby" and he kisses her hand.
Scott falls asleep with his head on her bed while still sitting in the chair still holding her hand, but he's jolted awake by the door to her room opening. Tyler walk in with 2 other people who look to be in their 50's. Scotts only seen pictures but he knows they are y/n and Tyler's parents. Their mom looks like an older version of y/n only with darker eyes but the same dimples and their dad is very tall and broad with a beard. Before Tyler can make any introductions their mom is running to her daughter with their dad not far behind. Scott stands from his chair and moves over by Tyler to make room for them.
"My baby, don't worry mama's here" she leans down and kisses her daughters head with tears streaming down her face. "Daddys here too princess" her father says kissing the other side of his daughters head
Tyler waits a few minutes before making the introductions. "Mom Dad this is Scott, y/n boyfriend. Scott these are our parents Brooke and Troy" Scott holds his hand "it's nice to meet you both I'm sorry it's under these circumstances Mr and Mrs.Owens" Troy shakes Scotts hand and Brooke gives Scott a hug "it's nice to finally meet the man my daughter is so smitten by all she talks about is you dear, she was right you are so handsome and you do have beautiful eyes" she says causing Scott to blush and Tyler to scoff "don't start Tyler" Brooke says looking to her son. "What has the Dr say son" Troy ask
Tyler explains to his parents what both Dr had told him(leaving the twins things out for the time being) and what they did in surgery and explains more how his sister ended up here. "All this to save a dog that is definitely your sister" their mother says shaking her head and they all laugh. Scott and Tyler look to each and they both know they need to tell them about y/n pregnancy.
"Mom Dad there's one more thing you should know Scott wanna take this one" Tyler says gesturing with his hands for Scott to explain. "Well Mr and Mrs.Owens once the surgeries were done they informed us that y/n is about 6 weeks pregnant...with twins" Scott says trying to stay calm and hoping their father doesn't hit him, he's a big muscular man he didn't need his own bed next to his girlfriend. Both Brooke and Troy stay silent for a few minutes before Brooke speaks up. "I'm gonna be a grandma of twins?" she says with tears in her eyes looking at her son, her daughter then to Scott "yes ma'am" Scott answers. "This isn't how I pictured this but I am so happy, y/n always wanted kids she's gonna be so happy when she wakes up" she leans downs kisses y/n head and whispers in her ear something the boys can't hear.
Tyler looks to his dad "dad how you feeling about this" Troy hasn't taken his eyes off his daughter since the words came out of Scott's mouth "I'm gonna be a grandpa I'm happy just shocked" he finally says. He then turns to Scott "now I'm sure my daughter has told you all about that POS Danny am I right" "yes sir she has" Scotts answers "ok" he says taking a step closer to Scott "I'm telling you this now if you hurt my daughter or my grandchildren the same why these 3 were hurt I promise I will hunt you down and kill you. She might not be my blood but she is my baby girl and my pride and joy do I make myself clear son" Troy says looking at Scott "yes sir, I promise! I love your daughter more then anything I have since the moment I laid eyes on her and I plan to marry her as soon as she says she will, and I already love those babies I will never do anything to hurt them in any way" Scott says looking at his girlfriends father "ok as long as you stick to that you will be ok ever break it and they will never find your body" Troy says "yes sir"
Y/n parents stay a few hours with their daughter, talking to her Dr's and nurses and trying to get to know Scott as much as they could. "So when she is released do we know where she is gonna go?" Brooke asked looking at the 3 men.
"Well ma'am we had already talked about moving in together and we were planning to do it after the storm season so with everybody's permission I'd like to stick to that, I can do my job from home if need be. I would like to take care of her and the twins and I'm sure all 3 of you would like to as well, so you are all more then welcome there I have a guest room and a pretty big couch" Scott says looking around. "Even me Miller" Tyler ask "Even you Owens she needs her best friend"
"If that's what y/n wants I'm fine with that Scott, once she is awake we will work all the details. For now Tyler me and your dad are going to the hotel shower eat and take a nap but we will be back in a few hours, call us if anything changes i love you" Brooke says hugging and kisses her son "yes ma'am I love you too". Brooke then walks over to y/n leans down and kisses her daughters head, and Troy does the right after his wife then they both walk out the door leaving Scott and Tyler alone.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Both men sit on opposite sides of y/n's hospital bed in uncomfortable silence, the only sound in the room is the beeping from the machine monitoring y/n heart rate. It's Scott who breaks the silence first "I heard from Casey and Ashleigh they will be here soon they got stuck in some bad traffic, and Casey's little brother is coming with then, from what I heard y/n and him were close back at UT" Tyler looks at him and nods "ok good".
Tyler looks over to Scott whos holding his sisters hand. He can see the stress and worry all over his face. Tyler can tell by the dark circles under Scotts eyes how tired he is "You really love my sister dont you"
"More then anything Owens" Scott says finally looking away from y/n to Tyler. "I know you think I'm gonna break her but I promise I would never do anything to intentionally hurt her and the fact that she's pregnant makes me love her even more. I never knew if I wanted to be father but then I met your sister and all of a sudden I saw it all marriage kids growing old with someone" Scott looks back to y/n before saying "I'd do anything in my power to make her and our kids happy I'd walk through hell and face the devil himself to keep them safe and happy"
Tyler sits in his chair for a few minutes taking in the words Scott just said . "I'm starting to see that. But you have to understand she's my baby sister and I have always taken care of her" Tyler looks at his sister then back to Scott "y/n doesn't remember this since she was so young but When Danny left she had just turned 2 and she would walk around crying looking around calling out daddy or sit by the window waiting for him and this would go on for hours and I was the only one who could get her to stop and calm down. And when Danny would get her which wasn't very much she came back and would cling to me asking and making sure her TyTy wasn't gonna go anywhere" Tyler takes a moment to compose himself remembering all this "once Troy came into our life things got better but it took awhile for y/n to see that he wasn't going anywhere but until she did I was her go to. I was also the first person she called when that prick Jake left her heartbroken I drove through the night as soon as she called. I was always her number one person until you came in her life, I guess a part of me worried she wouldn't need her big brother anymore"
Scotts looks at Tyler taking in everything he just said, he knew y/n real dad left when she was young and her ex boyfriend did a number on her left out for the navy with nothing more then a note saying "sorry" but he's starting to understand Tyler even more "I don't want to take your place Owens, your sister talks about you more then anyone. That month the 2 of your weren't talking she was lost, it was hard to see her that way. She doesn't know this but I would hear her crying in the bathroom when she thought I was sleeping you truly are her best friend. I know we have our differences and we have a history, I was a dick to you and your whole crew and I'm sorry, your sister really has changed me for the better. Its because of her I want to be a better man. Why don't we put the past behind us for real this time for y/n and for ourselves, she's gonna need us both us now and I know your excited to be an uncle" he said that last part with a smirk. "Yeah I am! I'm willing to start over but just know what my dad told you would happen if you hurt her or the babies I'm hurting you down with my dad" "deal"
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
A little while later Casey Ashleigh and Casey's younger brother Rusty arrive. They get the run down about their sister's injuries and the boys are introduced to Rusty. After about 20 minutes Scott decides it's time to tell them about the babies "Oh theirs one more or should I say 2 more things" the girls look to Scott with a confused face before Scott continues "y/n is 6 weeks pregnant with twins" Casey and Ashleigh look at each other in shock "Oh my God" they say at the same time and hug Scott.
The next hour or so the girls and Rusty sitt with y/n while Scott and Tyler take a break and go update their friends and grab something from the vending machine. By the time the boys get back to Y/n's room, Brooke and Troy are back and sitting with their daughter. Brooke reading to her and Troy sitting their holding her hand.
"Where are the other 3" Tyler ask looking at his mom "I sent them to their hotel to eat shower and sleep They just drove 13 hours they looked so exhausted" Tyler just nods his head. "And I think the 2 of you need to do the same, neither of you have left this hospital in almost 2 days we're here we can take tonight. Y/n would not like yall not taking care of yourselves" Brooke says looking between her son and her daughters boyfriend.
"Mama we just..." before Tyler can finish his sentence Brooke cuts him off "Tyler James when was the last the 2 of slept longer then an hour at a time huh? Or showered? Or had something that didn't come from a vending machine" she had her mom tone and her mom look so the boys knew she wasn't gonna take no for answer "I have talked to the nurse nothing big is happening tonight, she's gonna help me bathe y/n that's about it. So visiting hours are over in 30 minutes and the 2 of you are leaving until they start again understand? Scott leave your number and if anything happens you will be my first call Tyler you will be my second"
Tyler and Scott look at each other. "yes ma'am" is all they said. "Me and your father are going to get coffee and give the 2 of you some time" then she got up followed by her husband and left the room. Scott and Tyler took their seats and Scott looks to Tyler and says "I now know where your sister get her authoritiveness from, your mom doesn't leave room to argue same as y/n" Tyler laughs and nods his head "Yeah I know"
30 minutes later Brooke and Troy walk back in the room. Tyler stands and gives his sister a kiss on the cheek and tells her he'll be back in the morning, then walks to their parents giving them a hug. "Here son take my credit card and have dinner on me both of you" Tyler take his dad's card and thanks him.
Scott lingers a minute longer not waiting to leave y/n, waiting to make sure he's there if she wakes up. But he knows when she does wake up she would be pretty pissed to know he wasn't taking care of himself. He learns down and places a long kiss her head "I love you, all 3 of you. I'll be back the second visiting hours start tomorrow I promise I love you" Scott give y/n one last kiss and walks away. He really hated this!
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
The next couple days things with y/n stay the same. Dr. Mitchell does another ct scan and says everything is looking very good, the swelling in the brain as gone down and there are no signs of anymore brain bleeds and y/n should be waking up any day now. Dr. Teller also comes and checks on her leg and says that is healing well and explains y/n will need some physical therapy but she will be able to walk normal again with no long term affects. As far as the twins, they both are doing very well both heartbearts are very strong even under the stress y/n body is under. The OB does but put both on fetal monitors to keep an extra eye out on them.
The first time Scott hears the heartbeats of his babies he can't help the tears that slip down his face, he never pictured himself as a father until he met y/n now he cant picture life without his twins. Tyler even had tears in his eyes hearing the heartbeats. Scott, Tyler and their parents all agree not to do a sonogram until y/n is awake so she and Scott can see them for the first time together.
"you think they will be identical or fraternal" Casey ask Scott while she arranging all the flowers and gifts y/n have received over the last couple days. "do you want boys, girls, or one of each" Ashleigh chimes in. Scott hasn't even thought about all that with all the craziness and stress going on. "it doesn't matter to me either way identical fraternal boys girls just as long as they are healthy I will be happy and I'm sure y/n is gonna feel the same" Scott says
"If I know my sister the way I think I do she'll want 2 girls, shes go girly it would just suit her with all the pink flowers and princess shit she'll want to buy. Hope you got a good savings Miller because either way that's gone" Tyler says with a laugh.
"I'm so getting ZBZ onies made if they are girls" Ashleigh says with a bright smile
Scott laughs and shakes his head before saying "We'll be fine I have plenty I'll let her spend every penny if that's what she wants, that's if my mom doesn't buy the baby store first"
"how did your folks take the news when you them" Tyler ask "They were happy, with me being an only child they cant wait to be grandparents and the fact that its twins made my mother the happiest person, shes already wanting to set up a room in her house for them. she's even starting buying diapers wipes and all that crap" Scott says shaking his head
"Yeah our mom too, might not want to get them together these kids will have to have their own house for all the things they buy" everyone in the room laughs, and go on talking.
"Are you going to propose" Casey ask
Scott looks at y/n with a smile then to the others in the room "I plan too yes and I have already been looking at rings just don't know what style to get" he says
"We can totally help with that, she's our sister after all and we know her style" Ashleigh says clapping her hands and smiling. "Thank you" Scotts says then looks to Tyler "I know I still have to ask your dad but I also want to ask y/n big brother, Can I have your sister's hand in marriage Owens" Scott ask Tyler
Tyler looks from his sister to Scott a couple times before answering "Yes Miller you can" he says with a smile "thank you" Scott says with his own smile
"Case we get to plan a wedding and a baby shower oh my God yay" Ashleigh says almost jumping up and down "She gets very excited as you can see" Casey says laughing
A while later they hear a groan coming from y/n and hear the heart monitor speed up a bit, they all jerk their heads rushing over to y/n bed side. Scott grabs her hand not knowing what was going on then he hears in a very soft horse voice "Scott" then sees y/n start to flutter open.

My Interpretation of the Justice League Pt. 2:
Part 2: Justice League Detroit: Now that J'onn is the new leader of the team, he moves to Detroit and sets up a private detective service there (possibly with his brother ma'alefa'ak as junior detective or something). From Detroit, J'onn goes looking for new members for his team. He finds them without too much hassle, and the Justice League Detroit is born!
The Justice League Detroit consists of six members: Martian Manhunter, Commander Steel, Gypsy (whose name probably really needs some reworking), Vibe, Vixen and J'onn's brother Ma'alefa'ak. The team is quite dysfunctional at first, since most of the team's members are young and impulsive. But with Martian Manhunter's careful guidance, the team slowly begins to come into their own.
The team is sadly still dealing with reputation issues from that civil war thing, and no amount of good press seems to be able to fix the problems inherent in the team around this time. Even though they get some big name allies or members (like Hawkman or Captain Marvel/Shazam or Green Lantern John Stewart), the team can't beat their bad reputation.
And sadly, everything comes crashing down around 2-3 years into this teams history. When J'onn's brother Ma'alefa'ak feels like he's been discriminated against by the people of earth, his already unstable mind (we can cover that in a seperate note), snaps and leads him to go on a rampage all throughout the globe. In order to stop him, the Justice League Detroit has to team up with all the members of the original Justice League (except Batman) and hunt him down.
And while this brave team of around 20 manages to subdue Ma'alefa'ak and make him see reason, the team still comes out of this looking bad. Ma'alefa'ak was technically a member of the Justice League, so some people are quick to blame the league for this conflict even occuring in the first place. Besides, Ma'alefa'ak and the league caused so much property damage across the world that they're pretty much broke by the time this adventure is over.
Part 3: Justice League…Canada? Originally conceived when the Justice League Detroit gets a mission in Canada. The mission goes well, and the Justice League gets some contacts in Canada. A year or two after this, the Justice League has the whole Ma'alefa'ak incident and their public reputation sinks even lower. Knowing that the United States has turned on them, the Justice League use their connections in Canada to keep the team running. Only one requirement: the team will have some oversight by the canadian government. Nothing too severe. But there will be some oversight and guidelines.
This new team is dysfunctional but shockingly more cohesive than any team before or after. Despite it all, this Canadian team slowly begins to recover the team's reputation after years of trauma. Who knew a team with members like Red Tornado, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold and others would be the team that leads the league back to greatness? Or well, as close to greatness as you can get after 4-5 years of awful publicity.

Light thumps mixed with clicks of heels could be heard throughout the Thousand Sunny. Skin slightly tanned due to the extreme heat currently being projected by the planet sun, beads of sweat easily gliding down your back.
“ The sun has no mercy, huh? ” you chuckled, a hand over your eyes to protect them from the merciless rays of the sun to prevent them from burning your retinas thus turning you blind.
On the other hand, spread across the lounge beach chair was a bright orange haired girl. Next to her was another lounge beach chair with a ravenette occupying it, reading a book. A small table in between them as the orange hair suddenly let out a sigh.
“ My beautiful baby skin is being absolutely shriveled up by this heat! ” complained the girl, kicking her feet up although both girls sitting were under a large umbrella specifically designed to protect them from the blinding rays of the sun.
Chuckles erupting from the ravenette and your lips. Lowering down her newspaper as she turned to look at the complaining yet undoubtedly beautiful lady.
“ W— ” Barely a word in, Robin only laughed with her eyes closed. Looking at Nami who was now curious of what she had to say.
“ Nami-swaann! Robin-chwaann! ” A rather loud voice interrupted the older woman, heart eyes practically jumping out of its sockets carrying a tray with delicious looking desserts. Body practically twirling more than a ballerina and much like a tornado, you'd be surprised how he kept the tray balanced.
A brow raised as Suiren, a new recruit (who was undoubtedly charmed to join) took a look at you, giving you the go sign. Hence the surprise plan commence. The plan is to distract Sanji using her girlfriends who are also unaware aside from the newest addition.
“ So.. Sanji-kun. Since its pride month.. Are you planning to come out? ” The heterochromia woman asked the cook, who was needless to say quite shocked to which the women just laughed yet again.
“ What— Sorry? ” The cook spoke softly, sweat visibly dropping down the side of his face. “ The closet is practically a glass you know~ ” teased the woman further, relishing in the poor man's confusion as their laughs echoed throughout the ship.
Back to you, you heard the hearty laughter though it slowly died down. You had heard the last bit, chuckling yourself before making your way to the sacred ground of any chef. The kitchen.
It was clean and organized, how sanji always was, the clean kitchen clearly displaying his love and seriousness for cooking. Of course, given of his.. Trauma along with being in the same perimeter as a cook.
Oh how it was a terrible idea, she had completely forgotten about her plan of surprising the man. Speaking of which he had already appeared right in front of you, tilting his head to side to try and peak at the kitchen.
“ No! Don't enter yet! ” You spoke quickly, the man was baffled. Yet obeyed like a little golden retriever, oh what a good puppy he is— back to the matter at hand, you entered the kitchen yet again, unintentionally slamming the door in his face.
Embarrassed as if she was caught doing something horrible, she quickly approached the pot and tried stirring it only to have hot smoke blown to her face causing her to let out a muffled; “ shit. ”
Hair getting wet with her antics of splashing cold water on her face, turning the faucet off as millions of unwanted bad luck suddenly came crashing down on her as she saw the blonde enter with concern of the sounds of pots and pans clanging on the ground.
Hurried movements as you suddenly went frantic, face all red as your eyes were wide, hair once neatly tied up in a prettylike you ponytail now messed up due to recent events.
All the while that damned,, cook was only chuckling and was taking charge with the cooking that was supposed to be his special meal since you had an idea in mind to surprise the cook, but of course it was bound to happen anyway.
“ stupid blonde,,, y'r not s'pposed t'be here— ” you muttered, huffing as you rolled your eyes and batted your pretty lashes at him.
Brows creasing as your lips turned into an adorable pout, he can't help but stare at them a little longer. The corners of his mouth tug into a smile, eliciting a chuckle out of him as you prettily continued to complain about him intruding the kitchen when you specifically told him not to visit yet.
A large palm rested itself on your hip causing you to gasp and immediately glared at him hands already working on pushing his hand away. “ what d'ya think y'r doin—?! ” A hand came up and cupped your cheek, before you knew it,,
Both of you were kissing, the food long disregarded. Wrapping your arms around his neck to deepen the kiss after a moment of hesitation, eventually though, both had to break the kiss to give room for air. How they both wished they wouldn't need air,,
A smile enchancing your features, ocean blue eyes lovingly staring into yours. Long fingers finding way to grip onto your plump fat causing a gasp of surprise to arise. Slowly being lifted up to sit on the counter, as his hands placed themselves besidd your thighs.
“ What a lovely surprise, Mon amour. ” Sanji spoke, voice deeper than usual. His lips displaying a gentle smile, gratitude shining in his eyes at the mere thought of someone taking the time out of their day to cook something, let alone his favorite for him.
“ Now what do you say we eat it before it gets cold, hm? ” A hand resting on your thigh, slowly creeping up higher. A smirk on his lips, eyes half lidded as his eyes filled with.. A look of gluttony and something else.
.
.
.
This day was truly eventful for the lad.

Tyler Owens x Reader: The Storm Inside Your Mind
Request: Anonymous said: "tyler x reader with panic attacks"
Word count: 2k
Warnings: panic attack tw
A/N: obviously stole some of Kate's trauma for this one... I feel like I've written a few fics where reader has panic attacks now, so sorry if this sounds repetitive at all. But as always, thank you all for the kind words, replies, and comments on my work. It's super encouraging and very appreciated!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The team isn’t chasing today. Instead, you set up the RV and some tents at a campsite, hoping to enjoy what little time you had left of tornado season.
Tyler gets a fire going while Boone and Dexter drag the camp chairs around it. There’s only half an hour or so left of daylight, and the crew decides s’mores will do just fine for dinner.
Boone makes a joke about s’mores meeting all his nutritional food group needs, everyone laughs. Tyler settles into the chair beside you, his knee gently grazing against yours to catch your attention.
When you look at him, he winks. A silent toss of affection. A sweet reminder that it’s you and him, even amongst the chaos of all your friends.
The sun sets, casting a thousand shades of pinks and purples through the sky. It’s mesmerizing– the evening is perfect.
It’s amazing how quickly things can fall apart.
All it takes is one note–
Dani grabs their guitar and begins strumming softly to no tune in particular. Then Boone shouts out a song request that makes your breath catch. You try to be subtle, but you notice Tyler’s eyes lingering on you, because he can read you just as well as he can read any storm.
You offer him the best, most reassuring smile that you can– and it must be good enough, because he looks back towards the fire.
You pick at the skin around your nails, because it’s always been a good distraction. But even that isn’t enough when Dani plays the first note–
“Took my love and I took it down,” they sing softly.
And then suddenly, you can’t breathe. All you can hear is your best friend asking you to turn up the volume to her favorite song when it had come on the radio only minutes before everything had gone so, so wrong.
Normally, you can talk yourself down from these moments, you can practice all the grounding exercises your therapist taught you and move on. But you feel the sense of panic creeping up your throat and it’s strong and fast. You don’t think you can deep breathe your way out of this one without anyone noticing.
In a rush, you stand up from your camp chair and mumble something incoherent about needing to go. It’s not very subtle, but it’s all you can manage before stumbling into the RV– aiming for the bathroom.
Tyler calls your name, but all you hear is the sound of your friend screaming it over the increasing winds as they reached for you.
From there it only gets worse–
It comes in waves– memories of Fleetwood Mac still playing from the radio while you sat in the car and frantically tried to decide which way to run– the realization that no matter where you went, the tornado was going to consume you– knowing that the overpass was the worst place to go, but your alternative was remaining out in the open. Your name tumbling from your friend's lips as she begged you to help pull her up the ramp because her shoes kept slipping. The sound of her scream when the chunk of debris sent her flying into the storm. You losing sight of her body after only a second–
The bathroom door rattles. “Y/N?” Tyler calls with a knock. “What happened?”
“What happened?” your friend’s dad had asked with tears spilling down his cheeks after the officer told them that their daughter was dead. “What the hell happened?”
“There’s no storm,” you whisper to yourself. “The skies are clear– there’s no storm.”
Tyler calls your name a second time and knocks harder– the door rattles. You grip the edge of the sink and bite down harshly on your lip to keep yourself from screaming. Because despite the calm conditions outside, the storm inside your mind is here– it’s rattling the door and shaking the RV– it’s creating dark clouds, and causing them swirling around in every corner of your body– winds are flying through your stomach and your chest, the air is heavy, it’s harder to breathe–
You put your hands over your ears and sink to the floor helplessly.
“Y/N, answer me,” Tyler’s panicked– you can hear it in his voice. “I swear to God, I’m gonna kick this door down–”
You try to inhale– to tell him not to do that– that repairing a door will be expensive. But instead of finding your words, all you can do is choke out a desperate sob. The storm has stolen all your air– it’s sucked it right from your lungs…
Before you can try again, the entire bathroom shakes when the hinges on the door break loose with a bang. Tyler’s eyes land on you– huddled on the floor, gasping for the breath you can’t find.
Except– it’s not Tyler. It’s your friend’s dad. He’s come to get you– to kill you like you killed his daughter.
You attempt to push yourself backwards on the floor, but the bathroom is small and soon, you've only managed to wedge yourself between the toilet and the wall. You try to speak again– to tell him how sorry you are for getting his daughter killed– but you can’t. Clutching desperately at your chest, you heave and heave, squeezing your eyes shut.
The storm inside your mind causes the clouds to start swirling around chaotically–
The storm inside your mind rips trees right from the roots–
The storm inside your mind destroys everything in its path–
“Baby–” a familiar warm voice cuts through the fog. And then, suddenly, someone grips your knee, causing your entire body to seize.
“It’s me,” a gentle voice murmurs. "Hey, it’s me.“
Through your foggy haze, you recognize Tyler’s touch– and when you open your eyes, you see him squatting down to get on your level.
But your knees– you open your mouth to say, except all that comes out is a gasp– a plea for help.
“Okay, it’s okay. Look at me, baby,” he says. “It’s okay– you’re okay.”
“I– can’t–” you gasp, your own hands flying up to grip his forearms for some sort of lifeline to reality. “I can’t– breathe–”
“Okay, okay, okay,” he says. He’s trying to stay calm, but you can hear the uneasiness in his voice. “With me.”
He gives a deep, methodical inhale before letting out a slow, intentional exhale. “Just do it with me. Slow, like this.”
He continues, and you try to match his pace– to breathe with him, but it feels like the storm has stolen your lungs– ripped them right out of your chest–
“Tyler–” you beg, your voice hoarse. “I can’t–”
“C’mon, with me,” he repeats earnestly. He’s looking at you with terror in his eyes, but you find comfort in their familiarity just the same. “We’ve done this before, you know how to do this.”
“I– I–” you stammer, but the words won’t form.
“Shh, with me. Everything’s okay. I’m here. We’re both okay,” he assures you. His gaze is just so tender and soft and careful while his thumb grazes your cheek.
“I- I can’t-” you choke again, “Please–”
“Shh-” he soothes. “Look at me, nothing else, just me.”
Your wide, desperate eyes meet his. You don’t say anything, just shudder and gasp frantically.
“With me,” he repeats.
Tyler slow and calming, in and out breathes. After a few seconds, you latch onto the sound, mimicking it, and then finally follow along.
“There you go,” he whispers.
Your facial features slowly start to relax as you’re able to breathe properly.  Without your loud, choking sobs, you’re able to hear your heartbeat pounding in your chest frantically.
“Good job,” Tyler sighs. “Look, it’s just you and me, we’re okay, we're both safe–”
But he can’t even finish his sentence before you lean forward and reach for him. Tyler takes advantage of your gesture and quickly grips under your arms, yanking you from the corner and pulling you forward. He sits back on the floor, back resting against the door frame while he rests you on his lap. As soon as he’s settled, you wind your arms around his neck– desperate and longing for some sort of comfort.
Strong, sturdy arms wrap around you as you hide your face into his chest. You breathe him in, letting his familiar scent wash over you. The sound of his heartbeat races in your ear (bum, bum, bum, bum). It reminds you that you’re both here– right now. Not stuck in an underpass, not chasing a tornado. But here– on the floor in the RV bathroom.
“It’s okay,” Tyler soothes. Upon feeling your shaky body pressed against his, he squeezes tighter. “It’s okay, baby. I’m here, I got you.”
You melt against him in response, bunching the fabric of his shirt into your fist, trying to communicate just how badly you need him to hold you right now.
And that’s exactly what he does— until you can finally breathe on your own again.
And then the wave of guilt comes.
Suddenly the realization of everything hit you– what a basketcase you’ve been, running off like that, having a meltdown in front of everyone– you probably scared the shit out of them. And then there’s the door– broken right from the hinges.
Slowly, you pull back.
“Are you okay?” Tyler says before you can even open your mouth. He brushes the strands of loose hair from your face.
You exhale a deep, shuddering breath that you can feel down your entire body. “I’m okay,” you say, your voice raw.
“Baby, you don’t have to run from me when you’re having a panic attack. I’m here for you, you know that.”
“I know,” you whimper. “I know– I’m so sorry– I didn’t mean to freak out–”
“Shh. Hey, hey, hey. It’s okay,” Tyler says. “You don’t have to apologize. I just– I want you to come to me when you’re struggling. I want to be able to help you.”
“I just—” you start, but you stop when you notice how choked up your voice sounds. You take a slow breath. “I can't think clearly when they come. All I could think about was getting away. I didn't want to scare you– I wanted to prove to you that I was doing better– that I wasn’t going to freak out all the time. But it–”
As soon as you feel the tears burning behind your eyes, you dig the heels of your palms into them frustratedly, like you were physically trying to push them away.
“It was the music. That was her favorite song.” You didn’t even have to say your friend’s name for Tyler to know what you were talking about. “I just… I heard that first note and I panicked– I just felt like I had to get away.”
Tyler nodded in understanding. “You don’t have to hide from me,” he whispered. “Next time, you drag me to the bathroom with you and we’ll get through it together, okay? I think that’ll save us many doors in the future.”
You exhale a puff of air, your best attempt at laughter.
“I’m just sorry you have to deal with me all the time. You have enough on your plate,” you groan, rubbing your tired eyes.
Tyler sighs. “Baby, I drive around and chase tornadoes– shoot some fireworks into the air when I’m really feelin’ it. I think I can handle being there for you on top of that,” he says. “I love you. And I want you to be okay, always. That’s all I’ll ever want.”
Nodding slowly, you lean forward and rest your forehead on Tyler’s chest.
Strong, warm arms anchor you to safety. You hold on to Tyler– letting the sound of his heartbeat (bum, bum, bum, bum) block out any noise from the raging storms inside your mind.

Hey I noticed that there is a good potential for Top Gun fans to see Twisters and want to write fanfic or incorporate it into Top Gun somehow, and though I won't be able to be part of it since the thought of having to write about a tornado on base is something that I'm actually REALLY familiar with on more than one occasion is just nope, not going to happen. HOWEVER I wanted to offer some suggestions for you and anyone who might be thinking to do it. There are a few amazing storm chasers on YouTube that can provide not only science stuff that would enhance story telling but also plot ideas! Pecos Hank is my absolute favorite as he never screams and his swearing is beeped out by the emergency broadcast noise (which is softened). He's very much into science and you get to see a lot of what goes into his chases and the dangers that it provides. He's been crucial in my own trauma recovery. Then there's Reed Timmer... which is a name that most storm and tornado lovers are familiar with. And while he is very good with some science and stuff, he is the exact opposite of Pecos and it's generally loud with him and bit of screaming, though not as much but yeah. Just two tornado and storm chasers that I recommend. <3
@tearsofrevali you are the best ever for this. i am also too familiar with natural disasters and i don't if i could write something like this.
BUT i wanted to spread this to my writer friends. If anybody wants to write containing tornadoes or is even interested in them, my homie here gives two AMAZING resources to use!

so as someone who is only on chapter one of omori and is obsessed with it here are my thoughts as a new member of the fandom
bear in mind that i haven’t finished the game. i only just got to that one creepy forest place? like the one after the spiders? please don’t spoil!!
but spoilers for everything before that below
1) I HATE BASIL. he’s such a stupid little punk. “uwu im so smol and helpless and i always get bullied and i’m so sweet and innocent” I JUST KNOW THAT FUCKER IS HIDING SOMETHING. everytime i end back in that stupid white room it’s because HES DOING SOME SUSSY SHIT. i also just hate him and everything about him and i know for a damn fact that he’s hiding something horrible behind that sweet little smile and he thinks he’s tricking me but he’s NOT I KNOW HIS GAME.
anyway.
2) i literally cannot decide on a favorite character. i have a least favorite, that’s pretty obvious, but when it comes to a favorite im torn. i LOVE omori, aubrey, kel, and hero all the same! i love mari too but i’m a little salty against her because all her hints for the quests are severely unhelpful 😭 but i still love her tho. i just love the main four so so much and i physically cant choose who i like better. poor little aubrey seems so scared and alone when she has the pink hair and she’s so kind in the little space world thing. hero is a sweetheart and i can’t wait to meet him in the colorful world where i’m moving or whatever. and kel is literally so me 😂 it’s not even funny he just does whatever the fuck he wants and that deserves some respect on his name. and omori is a kickass main character who has a cool thing going for him. but these four characters are sooo well crafted and i love how they work together! it’s a great dynamic balance!
3) i’m either a really bad gamer or the game is super long. i finished the prologue in like seven hours. it took SO LONG. i’m not used to indie games taking that long to play considering that i got through all of undertale in like 10-12 hours my first time. it’s awesome! i love finding all the secrets and talking to all the npcs but DAMNNN.
4) this game has so. much. detail. it’s insane. like the sheer amount of mini games and tiny pockets of lore. it’s like higher than undertale level and i don’t mean to keep going back to undertale but i see a lot of similarities in the game style. i also totally got sucked into playing like 30 rounds of blackjack on omoris computer. it was cool af.
5) the fighting mechanics are super hard. maybe i just suck at strategy but i am so bad at the fights that i just run away whenever i have the opportunity 😭 it’s a problem. i also have no clue how the happy sad angry shit works, i just make omori sad so stab has an attack boost and make aubrey angry so headbutt has an attack boost but other than that i don’t really use it at all and i don’t understand it. maybe that’s why it took me literally 10 tries to get past space ex boyfriend? it’s really fun i just think it’s supposed to be easier than it is and i just missed a memo on strategy.
6) i really love the message so far. the way that mental health is portrayed as something that’s a never ending journey. omori doesn’t just breathe and then everything’s okay, the game highlights realistic coping strategies and makes things like depression, anxiety, and phobias to understandable for any audience through a very creative medium: an indie video game. it’s genius. and i just love how it’s been approached so far, it’s very inspiring!
7) i’m terrified that this fandom is gonna make me mad, i swear to god if i just walk in and see a bunch of basil stan’s i’m turning and walking back out 💀 i mean okay maybe i’ll like basil better later but chances for that seem very low right now. my sister told me that apparently he went through some trauma thing? womp womp don’t care he’s an annoying mf who keeps taking me back to that boring white room where i stab myself, he’s a party pooper and i want a tornado to blow his dumb little flower house down.

PROPER INTRO POST
Hello! My name is Kai, but most people know me as Pip/Pipsqueak, and CalicotheWolf! I am a hardcore Dayshift at Freddy's fan and #1 Davesport shipper! I love making silly aus and i ABSOLOUTLY LOVE WRITING STORIES ABOUT THEM!!! i am a artist and a storywriter and i have adhd and a OSDD system! (i have trauma, no i dont say i have systems without trauma. People are known to do that) im a big DSAF enthusiast, like a BIG nerd. :3 I LOVE my aus and yaa and i have brief explanations of them- THIS WILL BE EDITED! im also a huge nerd on severe storms such as tornados!!! (im studying all types of natural disasters) and they are SO fun to learn about. I also love history!!
Okay! TIME FOR AU EXPLAINTON TIME BABYYY!!
The Voidwalkers Return AU is a Alternate universe of a game called "Dayshift at Freddy's". (D)ayshift (a)t (F)reddy's (DSAF) is a Five Nights at Freddy's fangame, except you work in the day. It is very different from Five Nights at Freddy's with more coherent lore. However, it follows the same animatronics and similar characters. Dave Miller, otherwise known as William Afton. is the purple guy in this game. The VoidWalkers Return Au is part 2 and follows the same story of "Jacks FlashBacks Au", the main character in TVWRA (abbreviation of the AU) is Dave Miller, he is trying to escape his father figures wrath, and just knowing he is manipulating him, he still falls for his traps. This all takes place AFTER the DSAF 3 Good Ending, and after Jacks FlashBacks AU.
The Lorax Horror AU is a Alternate universe of the 2012 movie; "The Lorax". (im sure we all know the move, explanation is not needed but DM me if you want me to explain the movie!) The AU takes place in the past, where the last tree was cut. But this time.. the Onceler didn't care.. and he could just replant trees with a chemical. This AU was loved by many in summer 2023, still is buttt... isn't as popular. the lorax was filled with rage, Pipsqueak went INSANE. How does this end? Well.. the movie will come out on my channel.. soon.. and theres a wattpad story!
(i will edit this, this is NOT all of my aus! Just my most popular ones)
heres some aus i havent explained: (but will)
Jacks Flashbacks AU
DSAF Indigo Park AU (still a W.I.P, but will happen!)
DSAF Henrys Voices AU
