While Lucas doesn't explicitly say "I'm sorry", he does tell her after the USO show that she has been so good to him even after he strayed from them. It acknowledges Lucas knew he messed up and was lucky Peyton forgave him. I love that scene. I wish he didn't spend the end of season 5 with Brooke. Rebuilding his relationship, even if he doesn't think romantically, and talking over their issues (much like Haley and Nathan did after their split) would been preferable.
im still not entirely sure what the point was to have brooke and lucas share so much time together at the end of season 5. like... to bait br*cas fans? we knew they were never getting back together. they had these weird romantic undertones that just made no sense to me.
i dont know if id necessarily say lucas and peyton shouldve spent more time together, just because where their relationship was at that point it wouldve felt weird to me. like lucas was still pretty deadset on winning lindsey back. i liked the scene they had at naleys when they were setting up for jamies party (i think thats what they were doing. the scene with peyton and the carseat). wouldve liked some expansion of that. but idk. s5 was the writers strike so i cut it a lot of slack
