Hmmm, I almost missed the mermay again This time I drew Naija from my favorite game Aquaria as an amphibious gargoyle. At the moment, in the Gargoyles canon they haven't shown what a water-floating clan looks like, so this is my speculation. Naija is so beautiful that it didn't even have to make many changes

Naija from the videogame called Aquaria developed by BitBlot from roughly 2007-2009. It's one of my favorite games and I assume that it introduced me to waterfolk back then. The soundtrack and game itself is breathtaking. This sketch that I made represents the title screen when starting the game where - I assume - Naija's soul is trapped in a crystal. It makes me very sad that there will never be a sequel unlike with Endless Ocean because it would have deserved it very much. There once existed a mod dedicated to making a sequel, but that too got lost in the waves. Include the fact that this game pretty much is not very remembered by many or shrimply lost its appeal. It saddens me even more to sea how Naija is left like that in the story, but still no spoilers on my behalf. May the tides go on and spread that one song, the Verse...

Edited additional information: It was one of my first ever videogames that I saw one of my relatives play. I had not know its name for many years until I rediscovered it via a video titled "Top Ten Video Game Merfolk" on YouTube sometime this year. Aquaria's footage was basically in my memory for long, but I took a bit until I heard its song.

A game that I would recommend to everyone who is interested in the theme of mermaids...

Aquaria is an incredible metroidvania of the early 2000s. This game, despite its already authoritative age, will forever remain a warm memory for my heart. In it, together with the main character Naija, we explore the depths of the ocean, while studying the history of past races and kingdoms,while trying to find an answer to the question that worries Naija so much - is she the last of her kind?/Акварія це неймовірна метроїдванія раніх двохтисячних. Ця гра,не зважаючи на свій вже авторитетний вік, назавжди залишиться теплою згадкою для мого серця. В ній ми разом з головною героїнею Наїджою досліджуємо глибини океану, водночас вивчаючи історію минулих рас та королівств, намагаючись знайти відповідь на запитання,що так турбує Наїджу- чи вона лишилася останньою з свого роду?

Aquaria has breathtaking locations, a gameplay element very unusual for games of this genre, in which singing is an important part of progress, as well as soundtracks, from which you yourself fall into melancholic sadness, filled with a bone-chilling feeling of loneliness.

Maybe I, like Naija, will one fine day be able to get out of my cave and also find answers to the questions that bother me./

Акварія має просто перехоплюючії подих локації, дуже незвичний для ігор такого жанру елемент гемплею, в якому спів є важливою частиною прогресу, а також саундтреки,від яких ти й сам впадаєш в меланхолічний сум, сповнюючись пробираючим до кісток почуттям самотності. Можливо я,як і Найджа,в один прекрасний день зможу вибра��ися з своєї печери і теж знайти відповіді на питання,що мене турбують

А поки що я біжу плакати,бо в грі так гарно розкривається те жахливе почуття відірваності від власного коріння, яке головна героїня намагається перебороти одна однісінька.

This is pretty much my first attempt at hero mode and panel editing ever. Obviously using fef as the base and creating an image of Naija in her not quite default outfit which has it's reasons to exist.

One being that I wanted to separate the character herself from the representation of the fandom.

Another being that I wanted more space to add the song wheel as a symbol to add to the homestuckness.

If I didn't want to jump on the bandwagon so fast I could have made this much better but if I took my sweet time on this I would never reach a finished level.

So here is AQUARIA FANDOM in all her glory.

Naija is the main character of the game Aquaria, a 17 year old metroidvania-style game that not a lot of people seem to know about. I grew up playing Aquaria and I really, really love it.

I've been replaying the game recently, these are drawings of all the forms & outfits I've gotten so far!

Energy Form is drawn larger than the rest cause she's the first one I drew.
