That's the downside behind happy moments... It sets your mind to replay... The act of remembering causes pain, it incites you to wonder about those absent faces... It hurts to know you're not even a memory for that someone who is constantly present in your thoughts... It's sad when people you know become people you knew... They become unrecognizable, like a complete different person... You can walk right past them like they were never the reason that made you smile, the thought of them excited you, or made you daydream... You used to be able to talk, kiss, & hug them for hours, and now you barely look at them... You try to erase each touch, each fingerprint, each detail that can incite you to remember, until you understand it's useless... It is then you realize that, that someone who today seems more like a stranger, is and will be a brick to your wall... That stranger is one of certain people that come into your life and leave a mark... Marks don't fade away... Their place in your heart is tender, a bruise, of longing, a pulse of unfinished business... Just hearing their names pushes and pulls at you in a 100 ways, and when you try to define those 100 ways, you can't describe them, even to yourself... Words are useless, a complete waste of time...
