this may sound weird, but lately i've been thinking of aventurine turning in a cat. like, for some strange reason (maybe during a mission), he turned in a cute little cat. and since reader doesn't know he's a cat, he feels free to enjoy all reader's affection, and maybe to let his emotions win and cry while being caressed. and then he turns human and he's crying enough to fill a swimming pool. idk if i explained well :(

Listen, he's always on alert okay. This man rarely allows himself to relax, especially when he's on another one of his business trips.

And he knows what to expect. Lies, attempts on his life, threats etc. He has seen it all.

But this. This. This is something new. Of course anything can happen when you're dealing with The Masked fools but this? Being turned into a cat? In what place this is even funny? It is kinda funny tho just not for Aven

He knows better than to panic. Yes, being turned into a tiny orange cat was not a part of his plans. Yes, this is probably the most defenseless and vulnerable state he's been in since his childhood. Yes, this sucks. But hey not like panicking will change anything.

Instead he just sits in the corner, feeling incredibly anxious and dreadful. His only hope is that this shapeshifting trick won't last for long.

A huge wave of relief washes over him when he sees a familiar person. And not just any person but you. The only person who can put his restless mind at ease, at least for a short time. He wouldn't mind seeing Topaz or Ratio too but it's much better when it's you.

He quickly realizes, however, that his joy was premature. He can't communicate with you! And you don't know that this is him! So the only thing poor Aven can do is follow you around and... meow. It's almost humiliating. Too bad he doesn't have time to care.

Soon enough you give up at finally pick up the oddly familiar cat. Every time you try to put the cat down it starts meowing and running after you so the only thing you can do is pick it up and carry around like a potato.

And you know how it is with cats, once you put your hands on one you can't stop petting it. You run your fingers through the cat's fur absently, while checking you phone for any messages from Aventurine. Hugging the cat, pressing your face to it's soft fur. Something about it surely reminds you of Aven. The thought, no matter how childish it is, brings a small smile on your face.

And poor, poor Aven. For so long he's been longing for your touch while laying awake at night, his poor heart flattered every time your fingers brushed against his. He wants wants wants to melt into your embrace yet this is not allowed for him.

How can he ask for it without exposing the deepest and darkest parts of his soul. How can he open his heart to you without reveling all the ugly, fragile parts.

He wants to be open with you, he really does. Yet it's so unreasonably hard. Would you kiss his head like you do now if you would know how empty he is inside? Would he be able to press his forehead into you palm, asking for more more more without feeling exposed?

In a way, it's good that right now he's in this form. He doesn't really have to think about anything, doesn't have to feel anxious about revealing too much. He can just enjoy in.

You two fall asleep just like that and he doesn't have to overthink, he can just crawl to you side, nuzzling up to you.

You can't help but notice that the kitten in your arms is trembling slightly. And when you pull it closer in order to provide some warmth and comfort it just purrs and meows pitifully. Almost like it's… crying.

Now listen. I'm 100% sure Aven is a light sleeper. So there's no way he won't wake up from a loud gasp and a lot of movements near him.

Well. Seems like the shapeshifting trick the masked fool pulled on him lasted only for 12 hours. And now he lays on the couch in his human form while you look at him with the wide eyes.

Awkward.

His initial reaction is to laugh it off. "Surprised, dear? It's a shame you can't see your own face right now ha ha". Would explain the whole situation, trying to make it seem like it was not a big deal. No mention of you cuddling session tho. Max he would say is "my, my, didn't know you where such a cat person".

However, his smile freezes immediately when you wrap your arms around him, pulling him into a hug. Well. Here goes all of his feigned confidence.

Here is this feeling again. Your warmth, you scent, the comfort your touch brings. You telling how you started to get worried and how relieved you are that he didn't get hurt. It cuts so deep, makes him feel so exposed yet so needed. Loved even.

At first he doesn't even get it why your eyes get even wider, why a look so lost and worried all of the sudden. Only when your hands hesitantly cup his cheeks and you ask him what's wrong he realizes that there are tears in his eyes.

You know those tears when they just drop from your eyes and it's not like you're hysterical or crying uncontrollably but the tears just keep coming and coming and the more you try to calm down , the worse it gets? Yeah, him.

Would almost automatically tell you that everything is fine. When you confront him, pointing out that he's literally crying, will get even more confused than you. "Hah, seems like you're right, dear" he says with a small smile, giving up on the idea of hiding it from you. After all, it's too late for that anyway.

It feels... not even humiliating, no. It's weird, scary even, to be so open around someone. To be stripped of his mask so suddenly.

And yet he doesn't have time to care when your hands hold him oh so tenderly, when you cup his face and ask him what's wrong.

"Nothing, nothing, really. Just getting a bit sentimental here. Just... hold me like that for a bit more, 'kay?" he manages to whisper with a faint smile before pressing his face in the crook of your neck.

God feeling his tears on your skin feels so surreal. And heartbreaking too.

With each tender touch he gets even more emotional, to the point when he literally chokes on his own tears. Please hold him, run your fingers through his hair, kiss the top of his head.

He just doesn't get it, it feels so good to be held by you, why does his stupid heart hurts so much then?

Honestly he didn't cry for so long and there are so many repressed feelings, just let him let it all out.

He'll probably fall asleep in your arms, feeling very exhausted after the sudden emotional outburst. In the morning would act like nothing has happened, making some dismissing comments about him being a bit overdramatic last night. Don't let him withdraw into himself but don't push him to open up too much as well.

Just touch him more often from now on, especially when he looks like he had a bad day. And eventually he'll turn into your lap cat, reaching out for your warmth himself with or without reason.

"You poor dear! Let's clean you up then!"

"Where did you find him, Elaine?"

"Out by my garden, hiding under the bench near the Black-Eyed Susans. He looks so frail!"

You watched as Elaine was holding the small little kitten, an orange tabby that was wrapped in a thin blanket and shaking like a leaf, as she was looking around in the kitchen for a small plate to use as a saucer for the milk. The last thing you were expecting to find when visiting Elaine in the Townhouse was her hunched over a little kitten, who was meowing and curling into Elaine. You were going to meet with her for lunch, you and Azriel, but it seemed as though your lunch date was going to be at another time.

After a few minutes of the kitten getting some milk in his belly, Elaine decided to give him a small bath. You could tell he was already looking and feeling better, as he should since he was under the care of Elaine.

Azriel walked into the small study where you two were, looking unamused at the little kitten as he hummed.

"Madja is a bit tied up at the moment to come and take a look, she's training some new healers at the medical center. Although wild beasts are not her forte, she thinks you're doing a good job so far,"

"Azriel, he's a defenseless kitten!" Elaine huffed at him, though Azriel was not phased as you were chuckling, "He's not a beast! He must have been abandoned by his mother!"

"Well we can let it go back in the garden and--" Azriel was about to suggest when Elaine shot up, snuggling the kitten in her hold.

"Surely not! Not with these cold nights we're having! I think we should keep him! Now Nyx is far too little for a kitten, I doubt Rhysand would let him near little Nyx,"

"Give it to Cassian as target practice," Azriel joked, this time you glared at him as you saw Elaine's face going white.

"You are not helping," You reminded him softly as he sighed. Elaine then piped up and walked over to place the kitten in Azriel's massive hands, Azriel looked rather shocked as the kitten looked up at him with massive blue eyes and gentle orange fur.

"I'll go contact Nesta and see if there's a book on kittens and cat care, there must be something at The House of Wind! You can watch him for a moment, won't you?" Elaine asked, then left before Azriel could rebuttal. Once the door was closed to the study, you had to laugh a bit as Azriel was looking down at the little kitten, a bit uncomfortable in holding such a small and defenseless animal in his massive and lethal hands.

He gave you a glare, "Don't you say a word,"

"Oh come on, Az! You were asking for it with what you said about the kitten! Elaine wants to take care of it, how can we get rid of him now? And besides, he's cute! How can you hate on a little kitten?"

"I don't hate cats! They're just....a bit mean and judgmental compared to other creatures," Azriel explained, you scoffing.

"Why does that sound familiar?" You asked playfully. Azriel stuck his tongue out and was about to say something else when you both heard a small sound from his hand. You both looked, and you grinned so widely at the sight.

The little kitten was fast asleep, curled in a ball in Azriel's palm, and purring so loud.

"Azriel," You said his name, walking over to wrap an arm around him as he was looking at the sleeping kitten in both shock and fascination, "I think it is safe to say that this cat has imprinted on you. Looks like you have a new pet,"

You saw Azriel slowly smile then, the roughness he had before has melted away.

A few minutes later Elaine came back into the study to tell you and Azriel that Nesta found some books, but she was shocked by what she saw. You both were reading in the armchairs, books in hand, and the fire crackling in the fireplace. But Azriel had the kitten now in his lap, still asleep and still purring as Azriel turned a page of his book. His spare hand was on the kitten's head, rubbing the top and looking rather content.

Elaine was about to say something when Azriel looked up and placed a finger on his lips, then pointed to the sleeping kitten on his leg. Elaine simply giggled and left you two alone in the study with your new companion, or Azrile's new companion.

Azriel would later name the cat "E".

You stood up, twirling around, trying effortly to find anything making that desperate small sound.

Meow, meow, meow.

"Where are you?" You whispered while follows the help call of the cat. It sounds like a very young kitten.

Over there at the entrance of the alley behind many filthy stuff, a small fluff ball shrunken against an old tangled fabric.

You gaped, moving away a trash bag and a bunch of rubbish spreaded over the ground near the kitten. ''Oh my God. How did you get here?''. You warmed your hands as much as possible and carefully picked up the small kitten, which it started to meow agitatedly. ''It's okay, little one. I'm not gonna hurt you.'' The poor kitten had its fur chilly. You unziped your coat and held the kitten against your chest, then immediately covered it. Using the free hand, you rubbed over the thick fabric, warming up the life creature under the mushy material. ''Shh, shh...'' You bounced back and forth while look around, searching for other cats.

There's nothing but dirt and scary gloom spots.

'Where are its mother, or its sibligns? It's common to find cats in clowder, or a kidle of kittens...'

Worried, you glanced down at the poor thing, wondering how long has it been on its own.

Donnie's current checking some devises on his computers as he does every night before patrol. The time shown in the lower right corner of the screen called his attention. He quirked an eyebrow. You're 25 minutes late... Rolling his curved skateboard chair to another heaped of screens and checked the cameras settled throughout various tunnels, a pair of amber eyes scanning every single spot of the many underground environments. A sigh of relief left his mouth as watch you walking toward the Lair.

He got up from his seat and headed to the main entrance. ''Y/N!'' He called as soon as his eyes set on you. ''We were worried. Where have you been?''

''I apologize for the being late, Don. I promise your waiting will be rewarned, but now ...''

The genius lift an eyebrow. He did notice that your arm was inside your coat, he thought you could be hurt or anything.

You took a deep breath, carefully unzipping and removing the coat flap, showing it to your tall friend.

His eyes went wide, mouth gaped.

''Listen, this little guy needs help. I found him all by its own on my way here.''

Donnie kept his eyes on the tiny life being, his mind and heart shining from cuteness. ''Oh. Please, let me...'' He reached out to pick up the kitten, but you took a step back, hesitated. His hands are massive comparing to the kitten. What if he accidentally hurts it? The kitten is so small and fragile. You don't want to see anything going wrong, but you knew Donnie needs to check on it.

You looked down at the kitten then gave it to the tall terrapin, who picked up the kitten very carefully as if it was made of glass. The kitten started to meow restlessly as soon as his cold hands touched it.

''Donnie, he-''

''I know. Heat some water and pour it inside a bottle, I'll find a place to put this little guy.'' His long legs carried him to the lab, holding the kitten in-between his hands.

The poor tiny life being is desperte to feel warm again, its eager meows makes Donnie search everywhere in his computer center for something fluff to serve like a blanked; anything. His amber eyes clued on a dirt dish towel perched on a thin pipe above a few chemicals stuff on the table. No way he would use it on this kitten. Whatever he's looking for must be soft and clean.

Pouring some hot water inside a bottle, you felt unconfortable of hearing the kitten's cries from a distance. It must call someone's attention, though.

You turned, but almost ran over something, I mean, someone. "Damn, Mikey! Warn before suddenly show up."

"Sorry, angelcakes. Just wanted to say hi." He smiled, and glanced at the bottle. ''Were you making tea or something?''.

''No.'' You hurried past him. ''Donnie asked me to take some hot water for the kitten-''.

Mikey gaped. ''A KITTEN?!''.

''Yes!''

"What's going on here?" Raph jumped off from the gym large pipe.

"Y/N brought a kitten and didn't tell us!" Mikey protested.

The brute glanced at you. "Oh, cool. But we don't have properly ways to take care of a cat, Y/N."

"I know. Actually I didn't bring the kitten with this thought. I found him alone in an alley on my way here. He was alone. I couldn't just ignore its cries and abandon him out there."

Meow, meow, meow, meow. Adjusting some Raph's wool knitting inside a shoe box, Donnie, with all care he has, put the kitten above the soft fabric "I know, I know little one. You're cold." He petted its head.

"Donnie." You called from the computer center entrance with Mikey and Raph standing next to you. "I brought the hot water you asked for."

"Perfect. Thank you." He moistened the tip of a towel and carefully gave the kitten a ''bath'', cleaning the dirt gooey mess. ''Alright... Clean like a pure white cloud.'' He grabbed the shoe box and brought out of the computer station. "Y/N, I need you to put the hot water bottle under the wool knitting and cover the kitten. I'll be right back."

''What's going on here?'' Leo questioned, authoritative. Mikey and you moved random ways to give him some space to pass by and ascertain. His vivid blue eyes caught a small kitten being fed in a bunch of Raph's knits. ''Who... Who did bring this cat to the Lair?''

You gotta confess that you're a bit afraid to admit it. Leo sounds he did not approve the small guest. You slowly rise your hand. "I know it was sudden, Leo. But I found him all by its own in an alley on my way here. He was freezing and starving. I couldn't left him behind." The leader kept his full attention at you. You continued. "He could have died." Your shoulders dropped.

Leo looked back at the kitten, kneeling right beside to where it is layed. He carefully patted it while watch Donnie feeding it with a seringue. "Do you know how old is it?" His eyes were on you again.

"A few weeks, I believe." Donnie spoke before you.

You nodded. "I agree. It is so small."

"And cute." Mikey completed.

The kitten finished its dinner and yawned, stretching its little paws, tiny pink bean toes opening like a flower, then adjusted itself into a ball position in-between Raph's knits, ripping an "aww" from everybody. The boys are sad for don't have conditions to keep a kitten; it's pratically impossible to look after a small life being in this giant envorviroment.

"I think I gotta put my heart in the fridge."

Raph glanced at him. "What the hell did you just say?"

"Because it's melting."

Three pair of eyes rolled simultaneously. "Jeez, Mikey..." You shook your head.

"What? It's true."

❤️: Which character do you think is the most egregiously mischaracterized by the fandom?

this is a tough one because there's so many lol. Barriss (not a villain), Han (not a player), literally SO many of the Jedi, the list goes on. but I think Luke is one of the most interesting cases because I feel he's mischaracterized in different ways by different sides of the fandom. there's the dudebros who think he's just badass, which he is, but nothing else. his most important character trait is quite literally his compassion because it drives the plot of the whole OT. he's a kind and empathetic person, not some embodiment of toxic masculinity bullshit. on the other hand, there's the poor little meow meowfication and infantilization of him from another side of the fandom. yes he's a ray of sunshine but that doesn't mean he can't be tough too!!! he's nice but he also has zero tolerance for bullshit, is headstrong and stubborn, and the furthest thing from shy. many people (myself included) headcanon him as gay or bi and that characterization of him also enforces really harmful stereotypes and narratives about queer men. so in summary, a lot of the fandom mischaracterizes him through a lens of either toxic masculinity or harmful stereotypes. not fun. that got way longer than it was supposed to be, whoops 🙃

in-universe: that Padmé was somehow manipulated into loving Anakin, whether by Anakin subconsciously using the Force, or by Palpatine, or whatever. nope, my girl Padmé just has horrendous taste in men (case in point: my least favorite SW character, Clovis 🤢). she saw the red flags and decided red was her favorite color. stay delusional queen. out-of-universe: DISNEY LUCASFILM IS NOT GOING TO RETCON THE SEQUELS FFS. that is the dumbest shit I've ever heard sorry not sorry. Disney admitting they made something not good??? not possible. I can't believe people still honestly believe this. the sequels are not my faves either but with the amount of money made off them anyway, a retcon is not happening

do we consider Reylo popular??? it's very divisive so idk if it counts. but I hate it lol, it's the yucky toxic BookTok type of enemies to lovers. bro deadass tortured her. me personally, I wouldn't let that slide. they also feel like Force cousins or something in a weird roundabout way...? we've already had one incestuous kiss in SW, don't need another. also Rey is lesbian imo. if we're not counting Reylo as popular, I quite dislike Sabezra just because I see them very much as siblings. honestly, any ship where I see the characters as siblings feels icky to me -- Anisoka, Rexsoka, Obikin, etc (although siblings vibes is not my only complaint with those examples, unlike Sabezra).

quite honestly I think this is the hardest one for me because I headcanon so many characters as queer HAHA. my personal philosophy for fictional characters is bi until proven otherwise lol. maybe Ben Solo/Kylo? idk how much he's HCed as queer but I think he and Hux are shipped fairly often and I just don't see it lol. that's a straight man, I'm afraid. but he's really the only one I can think of off the top of my head, though I'm sure there are more

only a full house gonna have a prayer (17776): I had a ton of fun writing this Yuletide treat, and I'm still really proud of nailing the voice and general vibe of 17776 here. Also very pleased with my title choice, even so many years later!

the pleasure principle (The Good Place, Eleanor/Tahani): god, I had so so much fun with Eleanor's voice in this Yuletide fic. I think this fic is pretty damn funny--I made myself lol multiple times while writing it!--and sexy too, and I just really enjoyed playing around with The Good Place's style of humor, and Eleanor's dirtbag-with-a-heart-of-gold nature.

god loves everybody, don't remind me (MCU/Black Panther, Erik Killmonger fix-it fic): I worked SO HARD on this one for SO LONG, lol. I'm very proud of it, and while I wish I could have done it even better justice, particularly prose and voice-wise, I'm still 100% satisfied with the structure and arc. It was my first time writing time loop fic too, and oof, it was hard, but I stuck with it and I'm still proud of it! Also Erik is absolutely my poor little meow meow and I knew my ideal version of this fic and/or a redemption/restoration arc for him would not exist unless I wrote it, so I'm proud of myself for following through despite how long it took.

you're already home and you don't even know it (MCU, Sam/Bucky): With a lot of my writing, I set out with a particular thing I want to try or improve or play around with, and with this fic, it was trying to cram in as many ways for these two to say or show "I love you" without ever saying the actual words to each other. I think I was really successful at that, and at showing tenderness and intimacy, while also totally indulging myself on the h/c and "they're so IN LOVE" fronts.

if I'm gonna get back to you someday (MCU, Steve/Bucky): I was so pleased to finally find a home for the punchline of a "clusterfuck of Steves" here, lol. But also, I just really enjoyed writing this and playing around with AU versions of Steve, while also wallowing in some angst with Bucky. Also, I went ALL IN on the water imagery here, and I'm still really pleased with the continuity of that throughout the fic.

Hey! So I know you are a Kitty Wilde fan and she didn’t interest me much personally while I was watching the show. But your gorgeous gif sets grabbed my attention so I wanted to ask you if you could talk about the reasons you like her (if you haven’t yet already) because I want to know more about her now, if you want to talk about it of course no pressure <3

Ooooh thank you for the opportunity! I don't think I ever actually did a post that was just, here's why I love Kitty, so I'll gladly share some thoughts.

I have a really long character analysis in the works all about Kitty, her themes and her arc but at this point that's been a work in progress for an actual year and I feel like I should stop going on about it and finish it instead lol. I'm just noting this to say that I'll mention a few things about her character that I won't elaborate on right now but hopefully I can finish that at some point this century and really go in depth about what I mean.

So, Kitty. I think such a huge part, though not all of my fascination with her can be contributed to Becca Tobin and how she elevated this role that was supposed to be RM finally getting to have an irredeemably evil blonde cheerleader. She's written as such a vile person in the beginning and does arguably the most horrible thing in the show that I did start off hating her. I even said to my sister while we were watching season 4 for the first time, "wow she sucks so much." But even then I think Becca Tobin did her best trying to give some sort of depth to this intentionally one note character. I think the best proof we have, other than the whole ED storyline itself, that the creators didn't want Kitty to be more than pure evil is that they deleted what could have been a really poignant scene in Swan Song. Imagine thinking the stupid "lesbian blogger" jokes had more of a right to be in the final version than a much-needed scene between Kitty and Marley. I hate this show, anyway.

But then, whether because they saw what Becca could do with his character in this scene or some other reason, the writers decided to actually do something with this character. I think it’s understandable that for some she never quite redeems herself for the Marley mess, and in fact this initial run of Kitty’s character is probably the reason why it’s taking me so long to write her character analysis. It’s horrifying on a level that’s only second to IKAG imo. But as someone who did hate Kitty during the ED storyline, I did grow to care for her. She has a subtle but nice plot in the second half of season 4 about becoming a true part of the club, most notably in Guilty Pleasures after Brittany confronts her. She finally apologizes to Marley in Shooting Star. She shows vulnerability with Ryder and bonds with him after the shit he gets from Sam and Artie’s during their big flop moment. There’s the Wonder-ful plot with Artie, where Kitty helps someone just because she wants to. By the end of the season 4 she’s much more of a mean girl in the vein of Santana, so a bitch but with good qualities instead of being the evil incarnate she starts out as.

And you know, I do try to make the ED stuff make sense on a character level in my essay, but the truth is the writers didn’t care to make Kitty an actual character in the beginning. The immense charisma that Becca brings to the role, as well her skills as a true triple threat really help elevate Kitty into a real member of the club - best new dancer along with Jake, unique and amazing voice, acting chops on par with the best of the first gen kids. Like I say I think she starts becoming much more interesting in season 4 and then season 5 clearly knows better what to do with her. Some episodes, anyway, like the Beatles two-parter. I love Wildebrams, I love how we’re actually acknowledging Kitty’s struggle of balancing the Glee Club with the Cheerios.

And when she returns in season 6, I looove that we’re at least dealing a little bit with how she felt left behind, after how long it took for her to embrace Glee Club and how important it became. I also think she has fascinating themes of beauty and sexuality, questions of community, trust, all that. Her trauma as revealed in Lights Out is only ever mentioned in that episode but I think it recontextualizes a lot of her moments and all the little crumbs turn her into a fascinating character. I wouldn’t necessarily say “layered” or “well-written” because that would be crediting the writers and frankly, fuck them, but Kitty still ended up becoming a much more engaging character than she was initially intended to be.

I don’t know how good of a summary that was but, yeah. I find Kitty to be suuuper interesting, engaging to watch, and I am a sucker for characters who become more than what they were meant to be. I think she’s the true shining star of the later seasons and since finishing the show has become a top 4 character for me. Certainly top 3 in terms of who I could go on and on about haha. And that’s fitting because she’s basically a Quinntana love child and they’re my top 2 in this sense. I’d love to discuss her more if you or any others have particular storylines or moments of interest, or just any thoughts. I totally get if Kitty’s not your cup of tea, I just think there’s a lot of accidental greatness with her - accidental on the writers’ part, Becca Tobin deserves all the credit.
