something i keep thinking about as i replay dark souls 1 in ng+ is how at any given point in a soulsborne game I'm going "wow i hate this area, i can't believe they put in such and such an enemy, ridiculous, What Do You Mean I Have To Climb Out Of Blightown" and I'm just low key annoyed all the time, BUT the overall lasting impression i come away with is generally "that place was super cool! i can't wait to go back someday". i really love how that is the typical from soft experience for me

dark souls 1 probably has this the most which is why it remains the best of the games for me

also my problem with nervous in sequels is that... the devs don't realize he's supposed to have a unique face lmao. like they still gave him the sharp cheekbones, but... he still looks like a normal sim.

like compare nerv to other male sims in TS2, you'll notice he has a face that stands out more. his face is longer, he has a much skinnier face than the other males, his eyes are bigger with a unique shape that are slightly distant, he has sharp cheekbones, unbelievably thin lips. this is because nerv was designed to resemble a skeleton. given that he starts out in the game as a lab rat, the devs intentionally designed him to look weird, to make you realize there's definitely a reason why he's a lab rat. it also further alludes to the grim reaper being his father.

maybe it's the old graphics that make them miss this detail, but idk why the games don't realize that nerv was supposed to look like a freak

SO we have!

Seaglass! The first baby! She’s a Rain/Seawing hybrid who was raised completely unaware of the fact that she was a hybrid since other than the glow-scales she passed as a full Rainwing and nobody was concerned enough when she started glowing to ask around if anyone had any relations with Seawings. She thought Rainwings just Did That Sometimes lmao

She’s got the wanderlust, and she’s always either exploring somewhere or daydreaming about exploring somewhere. She’s optimistic and bright, and loves making friends of all sorts.

Seaglass has all sorts of variations to her glow-scales that I on god have written down and categorized that vary depending on her emotions like yes a bright red angry Rainwing is one thing but have you considered how extra spicy it would be if they also faintly glowed like they were boiling? That’s a weird visual to describe with words but like ?? Do you get me? Like if boiling emitted light you know what I mean.

Then we have Gila

and Viper

Sandwing siblings. Gila is older by a few years, and is fiercely protective of her ‘little’ brother. Viper is bigger and bulkier than her but is a real squish of a man, absolute geode of a creature, big golden retriever energy.

 In my headcanon world each type of dragon belongs to their own kingdom split into smaller tribes. (So instead of for example it being as simple as ‘this is Gila of the Sandwing tribe’ it’d be more like ‘Gila of the Sandwing kingdom, member of the Cactus Tribe’ or whatever the tribe is called) Each kingdom is led by a High Queen, but the High Queens generally let the minor queens of each tribe manage themselves except in wartimes or other Times Of Importance. 

(If a minor queen wanted to try her luck at becoming High Queen then she’d first have to defeat all the existing potential heirs to the High Throne before being able to challenge the High Queen herself)

All that to be able to say that Gila and Viper are noble born to a minor Sandwing queen, Gila being the only daughter in a long line of sons and therefore princessed and fawned over from birth and Viper being yet another worthless son who got lost in her shadow. 

Gila hated how Viper was treated and pushed aside, hated how every move she made was analyzed and corrected by her mother, hated how all her older brothers would roll their eyes and scoff and ignore her just because she was treated like she was better than them. She would read Viper stories of brave dragons exploring and spelunking and going on adventures and she would promise him that one day the two of them would escape and be free to live however they wanted to.

Viper was more content in his role, he never minded being left out of events or left behind by his [much] older brothers. He had Gila, and as long as he could be with his sister then everything would be ok.

So when Gila snuck into his room in the middle of the night and told him that she wanted to run away from her inheritance, he followed her without question. He knew she wouldn’t have done it if he hadn’t, and she never told him that she knew he wouldn’t ever have done it for himself.

I’m not sure how they cross paths with Seaglass yet, but I know at some point Gila is tearing her scales out trying to smack some stranger danger into Viper while he’s wholeheartedly trusting in this weird little Ranwing they just met.

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL WE HAVE

Daybreak and

Fateshifter!

Fateshifter is the obligatory grumpy old man dad character. He was away from home as a part of the Nightwing army when his tribe was attacked by a rival tribe of Seawings, and his wife and young son died in the fight. When he heard the news he quit being a soldier and returned home to mourn, and even tens of years later he kept to himself and was pretty much just drifting.

When he was summoned by his old commander, he warily went to go see what he could possibly be needed for and was given a Nightwing egg that swirled with strange colors and told to destroy it, as it matched one from a prophecy that heralded the shattering of the night. 

Being the dragon he is, Fateshifter took the egg with the intent of just abandoning it somewhere instead of smashing it so it would still have a chance to survive, but then pretty much immediately got attached. 

It hatched while he was still trying to decide what to do with it, and out spilled Daybreak and now he has a daughter.

Daybreak is a Night/Rain hybrid, and she can sort of kind of see the future. She was born riiiiight as the moons slipped under the horizon, and that does some funky stuff to your Nightwing powers apparently on top of the fact that she’s only half Nightwing to begin with. She mostly looks like a smaller slimmer Nightwing except she’s very Rainwing in the face and also y’know the bright pink scales that change colors. The undersides of her wings look like a sunrise and I love that color gradient I’m not going to lie she’s only half-Rain so I could get away with that.

She is baby, best friends with Seaglass, they have group nap time curled in a heap in the sun.

Fateshifter is very protective dad over her, especially when he has to introduce her to other Nightwings. He’s pretty much always afraid that someone will have heard about the prophecy egg going missing and having people connect those dots back to her.

He’s also begrudgingly unofficially adopted these kids that his daughter is friends with, and he’ll grump and groan about how he never asked for this but they all know that he loves them very much and the times that they fall asleep draped all over him are his favorite times because finally finally he isn’t alone anymore he has a family again.

Uhm so- You said you're new so you might have missed it but I explained the Poly sibs parental situation in the plot summary i made >>> HERE <<< a couple days ago. but i guess i did kinda gloss over it so i'll be more specific- and ill try to include some doodles!!!

The polysibs (excluding Sillybilly/Yourself, he's very new, and adopted so, ignore him.) have no parents- instead they have this giant eldritch angelic abomination known as The Collective

The Collective is a GIANT MASS of angels that gave up their physical form to SMUSH themselves all together to gain enough power to change the code of the fucking universe like a god. Why did they do that? you might ask?

Oh ya know. To try and make a genocidal angelic bio weapon that would kill all the "flawed" people and demons on earth and destroy hell by committing angel mitosis and code manipulation. They failed the first three times (2D, BB, Sally) and made Miku and Keith together. Keith was their golden child, the hero they were looking for, the bitch with the plot armor and the voice that warps reality- and they basically put Miku in a robot body to control her into being Keith's body guard.

Safe to say- this plan didn't work when Keith fell in love with a "flawed" mercenary, hot demon babe, and "flawed" demon ghost hybrid.

They brought him up to heaven when he was old enough and showed him all his partners wrong doings and everything and mans was unphased. he said fuck yo shit I'm in love with them.

and The Collective got pissy- but turns out being mushed together for that long is uh??? not good for you- so while BF and co. are fleeing the shit outta heaven, goopy toothpaste mcgee falls off the edge of heaven LITERALLY cause its a giant sky palace- and its so fucking corrupted it can't co-ordinate with all of itself to fly and not get itself thrown into the code.

In the code- the ACTUAL gods of Polyverse, Chaos and Order, are like 'ur a fucking dumbass' and pull the collective apart LITERALLY limb from limb in what quite possibly might be my favorite interaction of the whole RP to the point where summarizing it does no justice you can read it here if you want. SO IN CONCLUSION:

This thing is five years in the making and I really got serious about improving it last year.

Note this au includes certain ships, hcs, rewrites, and fan kids for the second part, since it's kinda evolved into mashing my two aus together.

Offical Black Butler Au rundown

Part one:

Part one of this section is mainly focused on how differently I made the supernatural species in Black Butler, messing around with the more horror like aspect of them.

Subject one: Demons

●Demons are born from fallen angels, created through sacrifice, and of course born.

●Fallen angels are those who have fallen from grace, either by disobeying the lord or committing sin, and have been cursed to turn into demons for eternity until they are killed.

●Sacrifice only happens through rituals, in which a person's soul is handed over to another demon, where it will be eaten and the husk of the person will turn into a flesh hungry demon focused on feasting on human flesh instead of souls. This is a loose use of the term demon, but it's commonly used.

●Being born a demon has cursed you, and you will live like the fallen angels.

●Demon-human hybrids are typically normal until they hit puberty, where they begin to become violent and prone to eating more meat, and as they grow they reach their full potential as demons and hide under the mask of a human being, while being blood thirsty monsters.

●Demon-angel hybrids don't live long, typically just 100 years, and they're at constant war with themselves and their existence is painful. These hybrids often kill themselves through whatever means by the time they reach adulthood.

●Demon-reaper hybrids are more like the Reaper side, just hungry for souls and at times, flesh.

●There are three tiers to demons. The baby demon, often being only used for those born demons or turned demon, where they are weaker than most demons. This stage is where they are for around 25 years (e.i you must wait 25 years to devolp fully if you are turned into a demon, and those born demons experience this stage from ages 0-25). The second tier is the average demon, being of course the average demon you encounter in terms of power. This spot is where most demons lay. After the time period of before passes, they tend to stay here from the ages 25-10,000. The last tier is the elder demon, a demon that is quite rare due to most demons not being around that long. They are incredibly powerful and considered the most dangerous being over 10,000 years old.

●You can make a pact with a demon at the price of your soul or your body depending on what they eat, and your pacts mark will be on a certain part of your body.

Subject two: Angels

●Angels are large beings, who are sent from the heavens or are the souls of humans, whether cleansed or originally pure.

●The normal angels are your typical type, trying to purify and cleanse the world of sin, even if extreme measures are needed.

●Often, they hide their eyes, whether by hair or blindfolds, but they can still see. Under these, they have many eyes.

●Born angels act like regular angels, often and obsessed with clensing the world of filth. Its not common that they truly care for humans, only seeing them as ways to spread pureness and a way to gather more angels.

●Angels can be killed by an angel blade, holy fire, or being eaten by a demon.

●The cleansed angels act more like robots, mainly focused on their need to spread holiness.

●Angel-human hybrids look more humans, but seem to not be there in terms of mind, being more like robots with a damp feeling of emotion.

●Angel-reaper hybrids are born corrupted, and while looking like Angels physically and power wise, they are considered demons due to the sin of mingling with a reaper. These hybrids have a hard time masking as humans, especially with the mixed uncanny appearance.

●Angels have a system based on age and power like before. Normal angels are the base, being there from the time 0-25 years. Archangels are more powerful and are 25-100 years. Gifted are more skilled and as said before, more powerful, ranging 100-1,000 years. Pillars are 1,000-5,000 years. Messangers are 5,000-10,000. And the elders are 10,000+ years old, being at the absolute top and rivaling the dangers of most elder demons.

●Angels do not make pacts but many of them can pretend to be loyal to someone if that means access to a larger crowd.

Subject three: Reapers

●Grim reapers are being cursed to walk the land until their debt is repayed, after they have taken their own life.

●Reapers, in their normal form, stand very tall and skinny, and have skeleton like faces and bodies, with no eyes, but they can see.

●It takes longer for a grim Reaper to take on the look of human, and it's even harder to master turning between forms.

●Those born grim reapers are stuck being this creature until the end of time or they are killed.

●Reapers only have one level, but some reapers tend to be given the title legendary due to their long servitude and their skill at their job

●Reapers cannot make pacts and often avoid the concept of working with humans entirely

General views of the creatures.

●Angels, Demons, and Reapers can have a second form that appears more human, but more of an odd vibe to them.

●Demons, at a base level, do not often grasp the understanding of human emotion and often completely lack it. In most cases where they by chance devolp more complex emotion it's due to being around humans for extended periods of times.

●Angels have a dampened feeling of emotion but are often how like an ai experiences emotion, and even with extended human contact they do not tend to expand their emotion.

●Reapers are at base level almost exactly like humans in terms of emotion, they just often do not hold a care for human life.

●All species that are born that way tend to stop aging at 25 when the brain would fully devolp. Unless they are part human, where life expectancy ranges.

●Angel turn to mist and reform as their human forms when wanting to change, and vise versa.

●For Demons, their demonic form contorts into a grotesque scene and shifts into a human, horrifying to see but not as seeing them return to normal. Often, the human face and chest will split open, and the demon will crawl out, ripping apart the flesh and the body to become a limp, boneless piece of flesh, which they will often eat to return back to normal once they want to hide again.

●Reapers' skin will appear out of then air and so will their eyes and body fat, and seeing them return to normal is like seeing a corpse rotting sped up.

●Demons are very hard to kill. The only ways to do so are by holy water, reaper scythes, and draining them of their powers and leaving behind a destroyable husk.

●Reapers die when their debt is paid (Astronomically rare), the death scythes, or their soul is taken in a deal with a higher power, but if they are born reapers, they will stay reapers unless dying by other means previously stated.

●Angels can be killed by a holy blade, being eaten by a demon, Reaper scythes, or hellfire.

●The reproductive system of angels, demons, and reapers is a little odd.

●Demons and angels technically do have a sex when they're in their true form, but they hardly sexually reproduce in this form given how complex it can be. Instead, they tend to reproduce in these more human forms.

●Many angels are actually hermaphrodites with the fact they can switch between which sex they want to present as.

●Reapers, given they were human before, have mostly normal human anatomy but have a very low reproduction rate due to the damage of their internal organs after death.

●Cross species are not recommended but there are no real precautions against it aside for angels, who often completely reject hybrids of any kind. For demons, they tend to look down on hybrids due to their potential weakness. Reapers often do not have any notes on hybrids unless they are a reaper, in which they're often set to take on the duties of a reaper

The main overview of this au is its been around 20 years since the original series, in which Ciel's son, Charles Phantomhive, with the help of his butler Chrysanthemum Michaelis.

I've worked very VERY hard on this story despite how brief the summary is, because I plan on creating my own series based off of it one day.

I have nearly 100 ocs for it and I love them all.

I have a lot of hcs for the characters, so I like to imagine things like homophobia and tramsphobia are much more toned down (As I am not comfortable writing that).

Ships included are: Sebagni, Ronthello, Grelliam, VioletHill, BlueMond, Chesward, Slingphries, and Lauroy.

Very important note: This au is in no way shape or form an excuse for people to ship SebaCiel or any other ship like that, or sexualize underage characters. If you think of doing that you are free to leave now. This au can involve incredibly triggering subject matter at times and a warning will come with it.
