Helena Papariziou - my number one (Greece 2005). Maybe it's just nostalgia, but to me this is Eurovision-est eurovision song that ever won. Fast rhythm, very Greek vibes, catchy tune, nice choreography and voice, what's not to like?

Hari Mara Hari - Lejla (BiH 2006). What to say, beautiful ballad in native language, very powerful voice, in my honest opinion this song should have won back in 2006. But then again, I'm a fan of his music so maybe I'm just biased

Go_A - Shum (Ukraine 2021). What every country should do: send a mix of folklore and modern music in native language. Honestly if I had to choose a country that overal has best entries without a doubt it'll be Ukraine, they never disappoint. What's hard to choose actually is which song of theirs was the best. I can't decide but Go_A's Šum definitely goes into top 3. Also in begging everyone listen to Shady Lady, their 2008's entry

Conchira Wurst - Rise like a Phoenix (Austria 2014). Hands down one of best ballads in English sent in last 20 years. Definitely a deserved win, no matter what public at that time said cuz of her appearance. The 'but I'm gonna fly' part never fails to give me goosebumps. I feel like that song could be trans anthem

Elena Born and Stig Rästa - Goodbye to Yesterday (Estonia 2015). The classic. Very simple yet striking duet, idk how to describe it but there's something rly captivating about the song. Ans they look like they're so in love 🥺

Can Bonomo - Love me back (Turkey 2012). Add to endless list of songs that should have won over Euphoria 🙄 it's a very unique song, very catchy too. Also this is the last year Turkey took part in esc :< I miss their performances 😭

Željko Joksimović - Lane Moje and No name - Zauvjek Moja (Serbia & Montenegro 2004 and 2005) - I tried to choose only one but couldn't ;-; that's how 00s music on Balkan was like, it fills me with nostalgia. Sadly national song content in 2006 was one of reasons why union between two countries collapsed so it's more of pensive nostalgia for people here

Anxhela Peristeri - Karma (Albania 2021). This song was criminally underrated 2 years ago :< powerful ballad, perfect voice, strong tune - idk why she didn't rank higher? Albania always sends good song in their language and gets little points, it's unfair :/

Charlotte Perrilli - Hero (Sweden 2008). Yes I can't believe I'm saying this but there is an underrated swedish entry. I've hear this one back in 2008 and it stick with me ever since. Catchy 00s pop song

Andromache - Ela (Cyprus 2022). This one didn't even qualify ;-; honestly it was one of my faves from last year but it was so obvious she was nervous on stage. Plus song isn't really much of Eurovision material so I sort of understand why she didn't qualify but I adored the song nonetheless 🥰 love hearing Greek language

Dima Bilan - Never let you go (Russia 2006). His voice 🥺 song is so beautiful idk what to say really beside I'm an absolute fan (plus that imma go dig up more of his music). I do like Believe from 2008 too but prefer this song

Paula Seling & Ovi - Playing with fire (Romania 2006). What to say, very catchy song, I like it alot. Love them 90s vibes. Defo one of best Romania sent in last 20 years

Toše Proeski - Life (Macedonia 2004). Alright, I feel like I've bored life out of everyone with Crno i Belo from 2012 so time to bring another underappreciated Macedonian entry. You don't understand, this man was a legend in ex Yu countries 🥺💔 still is to this day

Cascada - Glorious (Germany 2013). Shes one of my fave 00s pop icons, imagine my delight when I heard she's on eurovision 😭 her songs are my childhood ♥️ I just wish she ranked better, idk why only 22th place for such amazing song

Doris Dragović - Marija Magdalena (Croatia 1999). Absolutely best Croatia ever sent, powerful voice, catchy tune, native language - absolutely perfect song in all terms

Alexander Rybak - Fairytale (Norway 2009). One of rare winners I 100% agree with. Violin is amazing there as well as his voice. Breath of fresh air into song context with mixture of traditional and modern I'd say

Monika Liu - Sentimentai (Lithuania 2022). So underappreciated 😭 the style, the elegance, the simplicity, the catchy tune - idk why she didn't get more points tbh

Sirusho - Qele qele (Armenia 2008). As someo3n said in comments - everyone over 18 on Balkan knows this song and that's the case with me too 😂 ethnic flavor, catchy rhymes, one of that years faves for sure

I think I covered around 13-14 counties here, especially some from eastern and central Europe that might get underappreciated. Maybe one day when/if I have time I could choose my fave song from all 50ish European countries (if I'm insane enough)

2. When was the last time you cried? I always cry, or at least tear up, particularly for positive, or uplifting things. My latest waterworks moment(s) was during Avatar last week, of course.

3. Do you have kids? I do actually.:)

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? I somehow think I don't, but I unintentionally do and have caught myself in the act several times.

I have been trying to get some info on him, I watched a few videos about his tactics, play of style, personality. It does seem like a good fit, but I would be lying if I got overly excited about the possibility of him taking over. But well, the days are going by like crazy, we don't exactly have much time left. 🥲

Ohh, I didn't know you guys were playing Romania! They have become a real good team. If I'm not mistaken they topped their group unbeaten in the Euros qualifiers, so this is definitely a very good and strong result! Haha yes, we had our B team out in the first half, and let's just say we weren't looking sharp lol, but with some half time changes we managed to get a 2-0 win, so we are still on track too with our unbeaten streak.

Blu!! Do you realize that it's been like, 3ish (or something akin to that?) years since we first crossed paths? We got into FFVII roughly around the same time, and you introduced me to a portrayal of Seph that astounded me still to this day, especially considering that we were both newbies to the franchise if I recall correctly, and FFVII's remake isn't exactly very clear or informative for us new ones as to who is who and why they're exactly as they are ('who is this tall good looking and eerie looking individual, what is this?!'). But that's exactly the thing, despite being new to it, you didn't shy away from picking up the character who is arguably one of the most complex ones that the franchise gives us, and wrote one hell of a portrayal from start to finish (as if you're done by any means, I know what you're gonna be doing the moment Rebirth hits, and maybe I'll just join you again as well), letting nothing stop you whatsoever. And that's something to admire, and something I'll always admire; you're a fellow writer who will never let anything demotivate you from writing who you want. And then you prove time and time again, that you picked up said character for good reason. You're just one of those people, and I'll bear you a heck of a lot of respect for it.

Thank you for this, for it's so very appreciated. And I wish you all the same in return, I hope 2024 makes even more of your wishes come true, and that your life is filled with all the smiles, inspiration and all the meta humanly possible, because I know you'll digest it all so very happily. Ooooh a fic that ripped my heart out (but it hurt so good)... Two fics immediately come to mind (though be warned, they both have major character death):

The Olive Groves by Agent Coop In the summer of 1942, war is on everyone's minds. Jobs are scarce, and boys are shipping out daily, but Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes have each other.

Steve wants to fight, and Bucky doesn't. In the end, it won't much matter.

Told in four parts, this story encompasses a year in Steve and Bucky's life prior to Bucky's draft notice, his time on the Italian front, his life for the next five years as he tries to pick up the broken pieces of his shattered mental state and put everything back together,and his inevitable return to Brooklyn for Steve.

Twice by DarkCaustic Steve and Bucky escape Romania only for German Special Forces to catch up with them in neighboring Serbia. They manage to make another frantic escape, but this time, Bucky is shot in the back. He’s left injured and in constant pain, forcing Steve to bring him to a safehouse in the States, in the hopes that Doctor Cho will be able to help Bucky. But of course, not long after their arrival, they are discovered and Bucky is arrested for the crimes he was forced to commit while under HYDRA’s control.

Even with the serum and aid from Doctor Cho, Bucky does not heal fully and is left with limited mobility and in chronic pain. Steve trades his freedom and formally resigns as Captain America to be allowed into Bucky’s prison cell to care for him while Bucky is on trial for murder and treason. He assures Bucky that there is no possible way the jury could find Bucky guilty. Bucky was a prisoner of war and the jury will understand that. At least, that’s what Steve tells himself.

- Michael Ben David's behaviour is Just wrong in all ways. He literally slapped one of the Alhanov Brothers, forced Sheldon to kiss him on his lips, pulled William's (Wiwibloggs) mask down and kept Taking microphones from other Contestants and tries to outshine everyone on every occasion. He will qualify due to being a great Performer and good staging but I wish he won't.  At the end of the day, he didn’t get through, right? Let’s try not to shitstorm him too much now: and I’m speaking to myself here, too... because I’ve already shared enough bad asks on the guy. Let’s stop with this collection of asks, ok? Don’t be disappointed if I won’t reply on this topic anymore. 

- This could be the dumbest theory yet but do you think Ochman could have a crush in one of the Kalush guys? I get that he supports Ukraine and he likes their song but he's been hanging a lot with them mmmm  Probably just leaning on the Poland-Ukraine brotherhood :)

- Grazie Italia for inviting Diodato, I couldn't stop crying from the beginning to the end of the song ♥️ Competition-wise, I fell in love with Portugal. Can't fait for the rest of the shows!  So far Portugal hasn’t earned my love and now I’m starting to believe that it will never happen.

- Honestly what is the Point of the draw of halves if Producers put a couple of bops next to each other and  many ballads next to each other? Ukraine, Spain and Serbia are really in advantage because of the given running order.  People, really, please... Why always complaining about all and every single thing? Is running order really that fundamental? I found all the speculation on it quite exaggerated. 

- Serbia was just unbelievable . The arena was crazy during her performance . So happy for her .  When it comes to clapping hands, humans are always all in, especially Italians :P

- I am so happy for Romania, he definitely deserved to qualify over Israel. Especially after Michael did that thing where he joined the presenters at the end, like, I understand it's his personality but it was a pretty egocentric and unprofessional move. I mean, he started kissing them WHILE they were speaking. And you could tell they weren't happy about it. I think it was the first time I've ever seen Mika without a smile on his face lol   I’m so curious to know which spot WRS got in the semi... 9th? 10th? Higher? Uhm...

- Unpopular opinion: avarage level of SF1 was higher than SF2 (in the first one I was sad for nearly everyone who didn't qualify, in the second I had 8 qualifiers and 10 NQ). SF2 got stronger single acts though On the contrary, I believe this is quite a common opinion!

- I don't see any problem with Stefan's staging, it's perfectly fine for this kind of song. But apparently, some people think that good staging=bringing an entire circus on stage  Another great example of what I often brag about: sometimes LESS IS MORE!

- The acts which surprised me the most were Stefan and We Are Domi, they're true performers! (My 3rd and 4th in that semi, just after Sweden and Poland)  Let’s admit it: Czech Republic will be a great opening act to warm up the arena (even if their music isn’t my cup of tea), while Stefan’s message of “hope” the perfect end to it :)

- Wrs is gay ?  Don’t wanna out him but.. hey, let’s say I’d be surprised if it turned out otherwise.

- Do you think Kristyan is gay?  Clueless here...

- Am I the only one who thinks Finland’s song was not so good (to say the least)? Personally I think North Macedonia should’ve qualified instead of them   Finnish entry isn’t amazing but HELL NO, North Macedonia is fine where it is... Zero staging and all those tragic facial expressions... Oh, so annoying!!!...

- Does a guy's height matter for you? Other Citi Zēni members are taller than the lead singer. He's just so... Tiny🤣  No, it doesn’t matter at all. And since when being “tiny” is a problem?

- Who TF even like Israel this year?! Last year was better   Last year, the previous one to that, and the one before that, etc.

- It's a shame that Achille didn't have a stronger song, because that mechanical bull deserved to make an appearance in the final and be seen by a larger audience-it could have reached "man in hamster wheel" and "grandma with drum" levels of Eurovision iconicness!  This is very true: it would have brought some real show to the final, something people could have talked about :P

- I have thoughts about San Marino. Idk. why people on tumblr are losing shit over Achille Lauro. His vocals just weren't good, and it's obvious that San Marino wanted to repeat Måneskin's success by low-key coping them (but tried to make it edgier).  Song and vocals weren’t on point: what else to say when it comes to a musical contest? Ok, it’s televised and acts should also please the eye, but the main feature can’t be that! (Not sure on the idea of Achille trying to emulate Maneskin... He’s like this on his own!)

- Ronela's dancers >>>> Chanel's dancers (sorry Pol)   HELL YES!! Karmine, oh Karmine...  :Q__

- Idk about you or anyone else, is Subwoolfer actually sing on stage, I didn't see a single mic since the beginning  Hidden somewhere under those masks? Live singing is mandatory, so there can’t be that much of a trick, right?

- You May disagree but Serbia could really surprise tonight. They got a good draw (24, second to last, after three Song sung by men and before one Song sung by a man). Serbia also increased in the odds and don't forget Serbia had probably the biggest audience Support in the semi - I still remember my goosebumps when I Heard the intense clapping. I am really curious how High Konstrakta will place, I would not Mind her winning.  Top5 may be at reach but I don’t see it winning: call it sixth sense....

- I know it's unlikely, but I want Konstrakta to win and Sanja, Ksenija and Ivana to be next year's hosts!  I can already see what kind of dresses they could put on and... Oh Lord, save us from that cringe!! 

- No matter whether they win or not, Sam Ryder and Konstrakta are already Eurovision icons and legends!   I’m missing a real icon this year, someone like Natalia Gordienko 🤣
