it was the end of the day and your boyfriend just got home, bokuto's boisterous laughter echoing throughout the the room. instead of the sweet greetings and hugs you give him, only the sound of occasional sneezes and coughs were present. bokuto's enthusiasm had somewhat dimmed when he saw it was you, his playful self turning (well, attempting) into a concerned caretaker.

"hey..." he says softly as he walks closer to you in the corner of the couch, "you okay there?" his brows furrowed, eyes wide with worry as he examined your current state.

"yeah..just a cold, i think" you managed to voice out with your sore throat, rubbing your neck after you talked.

bokuto puffed out his chest dramatically, he dashed around the room, gathering blankets, pillows, and a plethora of snacks in attempts to make you feel better.

"ta-da! this'll be enough...right? ah, you want anything else? want any drinks i--"

"koutarou..." you mumbled as you draped multiple blankets over your frail body, "i need medicine...and antibiotics.." you couldn't help but chuckle at his antics. despite his sometimes simple-minded nature and mood swings.

bokuto ran back to the kitchen and into your medicine drawer to get what you needed, he grinned, placing the medicine on your table. "did you know i read somewhere that laughter is the best medicine?"

you groaned at this, putting a pillow over your face, "where are you going with thi--" you get cut off before his fingers start poking your waist, where you're most ticklish.

a series of laughs escaped your lips, soon followed by dry coughs and groans. "bokuto..."

" 'm sorry, baby." he says before pressing a kiss onto your forehead "feel better soon, okay? " he declared before smiling at you,

throughout the day, bokuto's mood swung from goofy jokes to genuine concern. he brought you extra pillows, made sure you took your medicine on time, and even attempted to feed you soup he made.

and in that moment, as you watched the sunlight filter through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room, you realized just how lucky you were to have bokuto by your side.
