also this is very long so

his mom (a rose) worked at the steamworks and his dad (a hydrangea) worked in the mines. both very rich people, a lot of money. they married and had him (his name at the time being mary) and his brother, sunshine (a sunflower)

something luckheart always wanted to do was be a hero of sorts - like a sheriff (important later)

however due to illness his father passed away when he was young and still liked to wear dresses. his mother grieved deeply for around a year and a half before beginning to date one of her old work friends (he is a tree) and his name is tom

tom was nice and luckheart liked him until he officially moved in and introduced HIS kids, maria (an acorn) and seth (a leaf). after that tom began treating him and sunshine like absolute dogshit - yelling, hitting walls, blaming them for everything, and essentially forced them to mature way faster than they needed

sunny didnt do very well though, as he had both adhd and autism, so yeah

tom would always tell these kids they were assholes, the scum of monsterkind, and that they would never amount to anything good.

luckheart put up with this very begrudgingly until he was about 16 and decided he didnt want to be mary, but instead wanted to be julian

and his stepdad did not like that. he told him that all he ever did was try to get attention from everyone, and that his only changes were temporary and never good anyway (this is important i swear)

so luckheart left in pure rage and swore that he would make himself a life that didnt rely on his asshole stepfather.

so he immediately went from having an allowance and access to many things to having nothing. and not even his mother. he knew she wouldnt be able to stand falling out of love again, so he let her be with tom.

before he left for good, mom and sunshine came to say their goodbyes. it was very emotional and luckheart promised he'd come back for sunny one day

that day hasnt come yet though since he couldnt find an employer and has had to steal things to sell and survive

he wishes he couldve kept his promise but cant

his mom still sends letters, but he cant bring himself to respond to her. maybe one day he could

and he still wants to see his brother too. he misses his lil sunshine. his best friend... its been 4 years and he knows he cant bring himself back to the house but he also needs a way to see them again

and he hates that he's become exactly what tom said he'd be. nothing good.

this is also why hes so out of it and hungry for positive attention. tom never showed any sort of care for him, and he was always told not to " annoy " her

this is also also why he allows a ton of interaction, he didnt really get a ton of it at his house
