i don’t have a whole lot scripted for my MTAS dr

i want to experience things naturally and see what happens out of sheer curiosity

things i do have scripted are:

*some spoilers for the game My Time At Sandrock ahead*

• The Doctor and River Song are still my parents, but their names are River and Jonathon Haynes (the Doctor always chooses John as a fake name so that makes sense to me)

• My name is Amelia Jessica Haynes

• Why Haynes for a last name? Who knows. It just came to me and stuck.

• Magic exists, which explains some of the video game-esque ness of the DR, everyone has a band that they can wear and it’s their inventory and we can transfer things to people when giving things to them, like buying stuff or just pull it out of our inventory and give it to them

• I’m a powerful witch but that’s a secret

• Those who have magic have to go to the University to learn to control their powers - typing that out just made me realise it’s like Charles’s school for the gifted youngsters - once they are fully trained they are now forced to serve the Alliance for the Free Cities to fight the evil empire Duvos

• The Evil Empire Duvos is actually part of the game i didn’t make that bit up

• When my parents discovered I have magic they hid it so the Alliance doesn’t take me away

• I’m still a builder for Sandrock

• Instead of Logan kidnapping Matilda, I push her away and he kidnaps me instead, resulting in my arm breaking while trying to fall off Rambo to escape

• Justice and Owen find out about my powers

• When I fight Logan at the Hide Out, that’s when he and Haru find out about my magic and I throw a dagger right through Logan’s hand whoops

• heals his hand with magic

• *insert trauma during the raid of Sandrock*

• Logan saves me from the event that gives me trauma

• Matilda does NOT fly off into space….she presses the self destruct button

• basically i have PTSD from the traumatic event during the raid whoops

• The Alliance figures out I’m a witch but decides they need me in Sandrock so I continue living my “best” life lol

• The Alliance sends two doctors to help out, Dr. Mary who is a healer and Dr. Iza who is an empath

• Dr. Iza is a psychologist who i see for months to try and heal

• Logan is with me every step of the way during my healing process

• At some point when I begin to finally get better, I get really low and walk to where the Hideout is and ope turns out I can talk to ghosts and Howlett is there who the fuck knew not me

• When Logan and I go to the caves to figure out who’s using his name to scare off tourists, the arrow he gets shot with is laced with Dragon’s Breathe which is poisonous and has no cure and he surely is gonna die

• But Dr. Mary and Fang come up with a cure and I use my magic to save him

• Logan and I start dating lul

My Stone-Throw run of MTaS has reached it's first roadblock: The Frightened Rocket Roosters surrounding the Wind-Stolen Blue Moon Sign.

When your only method of attacking- outside of scripted encounters (festivals / sparring / ect)- is by throwing rocks, combat becomes... interesting. Mainly in that you literally have to go mining to gain ammo- which either I have absimal luck, or Stone just has a really low drop rate.

Update to this post: I’m trying to actively figure out whose windup they gave him.

See, they’ve been doing this for a while now. Most famously, Volo has Hisashi Iwakuma’s extremely recognizable windup, but Hop throws like Hideo Nomo and Kabu throws like Choji Murata.

Ingo and Emmet Are Both Autistic and I Will Die On This Hill, Thank You Very Much

Hey, remember over a year ago when I wrote that post screaming into the void about how Emmet is autistic? Consider this an updated version of that post, because I really should have talked about how they both are.

Disclaimer: I am an autistic adult who went undiagnosed until age 20 despite a blatant love of steam locomotives so I don’t know how I was missed considering I had the single most stereotypical interest on the planet. (I’ll touch on that later.)

Anyhow, I’ll try to keep this brief (and will likely fail), but let’s get into how both Ingo and Emmet are autistic, actually.

Emmet’s the more obvious one, which is why I wrote the initial post linked above. He clearly scripts, has trouble containing his sheer excitement about things (read: Doubles) to the point of bothering other people, has no filter, will happily infodump about strategy or the MTA rules if asked, and in the manga has an arm-swinging walk that’s visibly a stim if you know it. 

The scripting is evident when you fight him by himself, as his dialogue often feels stiff (in Japanese it’s more informal to contrast with his hyper-formal brother), but the line that always seals the deal for me is actually this, when Ingo asks him to put in a few words before a Multi Battle:

A Brief Submas Primer

Did you just find out about the Pokemon franchise’s most popular battle facility since the Battle Frontier because of a plot point in Legends: Arceus? Were you curious because your friends were talking about some weird train man and you have no idea what they’re on about? Worry no longer, because this mole person has you covered.

What the hell is Submas?

The term ‘Submas’ is a portmanteau of their Japanese trainer class title, Subway Masters (in English releases, they got the trainer class title Subway Boss). Note that I’m saying “they” - there are, in fact, two of them, and they’re twins.

Ingo (Nobori) is the older of the two of them, specializing in Singles. He speaks overly politely/formally (more obvious in Japanese), has no indoor voice, will yell “BRAVO!” the second anything remotely good or exciting happens, has an overbearing sense of responsibility (it’s an older sibling thing, trust me), and became an accidental sex symbol on Pixiv (don’t ask, he probably doesn’t know either). He’s best known for being the “serious” one and notably has not been allowed to smile in-game to this day, although he was allowed in the anime and manga to be more expressive. He makes up for this by being very, very loud.

In case anyone is wondering what real-world train drama is going on, there’s this.

The tl;dr is that Amtrak wants to run two passenger trains per day round-trip (4 runs total) between Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana, restoring a service that hasn’t been there since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. CSX and Norfolk Southern, two major freight train companies, have resisted this idea, saying it would mess up their traffic, especially since Amtrak’s passenger trains would get priority (by government decree, believe it or not).

So now Amtrak is on Twitch streaming the line to prove the line isn’t too busy for them to run passenger trains.

I’m wheezing.

Difficulty accessing json file with d3 and flask

I am using Flask as a web framework, and I am trying to implement the first example from the book Getting Started with D3, by Mike Dewar. I have a Python script named run.py and two directories, templates/ and static/, containing index.html and service_status.json, respectively. Unfortunately, my code is not rendering the data at all, nor is it producing any glaring errors.

This is what I have in run.py:

Introducing SMTP Email – The Secure Way To Send And Receive Email

Email is one of the most important tools for businesses and individuals alike. It's a quick, easy way to communicate with others and can be a great way to keep in touch with customers, clients, and colleagues.

However, email isn't always as reliable as we'd like it to be. Sometimes messages don't go through, or they get sent to the wrong person. This can be frustrating, and it can even lead to lost business.

One of the most common email problems is known as an SMTP error. SMTP, or Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, is the system that handles email delivery.

What Is SMTP?

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is an email protocol used for sending email messages from one account to another via the internet. SMTP is one of the most common email protocols alongside POP and IMAP, and is the only dedicated protocol for sending emails. Most email clients—including Outlook, Apple Mail, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail—rely on SMTP to “push” or send messages from a sender to a recipient.

A Dedicated Platform: Each customer is given their own dedicated instance of SMTP in a private and secure cloud environment.

Flexibility: Volume can be scaled up or down quickly to meet sending needs due to seasonality or changing business conditions.

Reputation Defender: In app, automated email address validation protecting domain and sending reputation with ISPs.

What Is An SMTP Server?

An SMTP server is an application that handles the sending, receiving, and relaying of email for other applications within a network. The same happens with SMTP servers though instead of taking days, the process takes a few minutes at most.

How Does SMTP Work?

The best way to explain how SMTP works is by going over the sending process, the individual commands that power it, and the errors you may encounter. Keep in mind that this is where things start to get technical.

Once an SMTP server is established, email clients can connect to and communicate with it. When the user hits “send” on an email message, the email client opens an SMTP connection to the server so it can send. (The SMTP connection is built on something called a TCP connection, which stands for Telephone Control Protocol.)

From there, the SMTP client uses commands to tell the server what to do and transfer data, like the sender’s email address, the recipient’s email address, and the email’s content. The Mail Transfer Agent or Message Transfer Agent (MTA) checks to see if both email addresses are from the same email domain.

If they are, it sends the email right away

If not, the server uses the Domain Name System (DNS) to identify the recipient’s domain and then send it to the right server.

Developers can easily send emails from their apps without needing any knowledge of sending SMTP emails. Parse does all the work for them. Though the interface is fairly basic, developers can also add extra functionality with their own scripts and handle different email sending scenarios.

In summary, SMTP email is a protocol for sending e-mail over the Internet by using SMTP servers. It is used for communication between email servers so that the email can be sent to the recipients. It is basically a message transfer agent which is used for transferring electronic messages from a sender to one or more recipients.

my second viewing of the batman has brought my love for gotham city and its characters back from the grave i buried it in almost a decade ago* and i am fighting the desire to make a multi-muse blog or throw myself into the boiling pits of various 1x1 rp sites and start another eleven threads i will not have time to write.

WHY.

additional thoughts floating around in my mind-maze:

the filmmaking here... it's Just Such a Mood. The Right Mood, and its politics Align with The Character and The Pysche of Batman. (Nolan's trilogy may make better 'films' in a sense, but i've always felt that the tone is a bit off, the politics are skewed, and: Gotham is a suspiciously clean Chicago, Bale's Batman is way too comfortable in his Bruce Wayne persona: he is rarely ever at odds with the Bruce mask and Upholds and Enforces the Status Quo, which could have been interesting for the character if it were ever explored and resolved with nuance, but this is just who Nolan & Co.'s Batman is at face value - arguably that might be the point, insert Chaos King Joker as challenger, pero - Bale es un payaso y no me gusta nunca nada).

everything about Robert Pattinson's batman/bruce reminds me of my once-upon-a-headcanon, from his oil-slick eye makeup to his Not Showing Up in Public Like an Actual Billionaire (and Not Waving His Cock and Wallet Around). he's quiet, he is a detective, he is tragically weird and alone, compulsive and obsessive, but he ultimately realizes that being Mr. Vengeance is Not Enough.

BRUCE HAS TO LIVE WITH THE FACT THAT HIS DEAD PARENTS WERE NOT PERFECT OMG THANK GOD, THANK YOU MOVIE, THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING THE VIEWER TO MAKE UP THEIR OWN MINDS AS TO WHETHER THOMAS WAYNE WAS A HUMAN MAN WHO WANTED TO DO GOOD AND MADE SOME MISTAKES (HOW VERY PROTO-BATMAN OF HIM) OR ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE DADDY and MARTHA IS AN ARKHAM, what A RICH and TERRIBLE HISTORY with ROOTS THAT GO DEEP, that BRUCE *MUST* RESOLVE, like NO, ZOE KRAVITZ AS YEAR ONE CATWOMAN WHO I WILL PERSONALLY RUN AWAY WITH, he CANNOT LEAVE, he is TIED TO THE CITY. FOREVER.

this is a gothic story, ya'll.

the aesthetics of this movie are blade runner vs. early 80s new york vs. victorian glasgow feat. The Crow. so, perfect. (they did film in Illinois, and Chicago is renowned for the L, but try telling me that the claustrophobic subways and crusty green elevated platforms didn't absolutely smack of gravesend and other areas in south brooklyn, bushwick, washington heights, or cypress hills in certain scenes, and i will gladly turn off my listening skills — the L is too central, the trains in liverpool are actually nice. gotham city has the mta.)

i will forgive the riddler for assuming that bruce wayne opens his own mail. or that he opens mail at all. that was his fatal mistake. it's just funny.

i will also forgive Mr. J for showing up in the film's final moments because a. it leaves viewers with questions, not ham-handed answers. b. character design. killer klowns from outer space meets yo my dude actually fell in a vat of acid. i will take it, thank you.

i cannot forgive the hilariously long, overly-scripted, "reveals all in a ludicrously timely fashion" voice-mail but it only took up two and a half minutes of blessed screen-time. it's a far cry from TDK's "commissioner gordon is dead – and now he's back, having tricked no one" juncture, which gave audiences absolutely nothing. plus, it didn't take me out of the story for the rest of the movie's duration.

the bat-suit symbol is actually PART of batman's weaponry. beautiful, sense-making design. i weep.

i weep for the flying squirrel apparatus. bruce clearly came up with this on his own. no high-paid wayne enterprise personnel were involved or loaned him government weapons. (no hate @ lucius fox, but this Whole Thing works so much better for this particular story).

FINE, IT'S TRUE. i just want to be batman. i put it on my kindergarten application under "what do you want to be when you grow up?" and i'm still waiting on that call. reality be raked across the coals and damned. THIS MOVIE HAS AWOKEN THAT PART OF ME LIKE A LONG-SLEEPING DRAGON WHO MUST HOARD NOW.

Daisy “Quake” Johnson - Inhuman, hacker, Agent of SHIELD, and now she could add “Avenger” to her list of descriptors. The agent hadn’t been entirely surprised when she’d received an impromptu meeting with Director Nick Fury about her powers. At the time he had told her he was putting together a team, a group of people with super-human abilities that would work together to defend the world if the threat arose. She had signed on, she was already a SHIELD agent and she’d had plenty of training with her ability from her mom growing up at Afterlife, but she never met the team. Well, until about 24 hours ago. They were a bit of a nightmare (a complete shitshow if she was being blunt), none of them had worked together before so it was no surprise that they were butting heads. Daisy got along just fine with Natasha Romanoff aka the Black Widow as the two of them had crossed paths from time to time within SHIELD, but she couldn’t say the same for scientist Bruce Banner (the Hulk), billionaire Tony Stark (Iron Man), or the first-ever superhero Steve Rogers (Captain America). Of course, now they were also dealing with a Norse god of thunder who was supposedly good and his brother who was apparently bad. Thor, Stark, and Rogers: three massive egos in one aircraft. 

Judging by the footage they were streaming from the museum Loki was more than just bad. Daisy had always been wary of powers, her mom had taught her that. Power was extremely dangerous when put in the wrong hands, that’s why Afterlife was so selective in choosing who got to go through terrigenesis. Loki was clearly the wrong hands and even though she really hated the men she was surrounded with, if they were the world’s only hope then she’d put up with them. 

“So you expect me to believe there is life on other planets?” 

Daisy sighed, trying not to get too frustrated. The man had been in the ice for seventy years, he missed a lot and probably had no reason to expect that “aliens” existed. Of course, she had known the truth since she was a child: not only was it highly probable that life existed elsewhere in the galaxy, but she was part-alien herself. Of course, no one else knew that. Inhumans were a secret from the rest of the world and it would need to stay that way. 

“Oh, I’m sorry Seismic Activity, did you know that already?” Stark asked sarcastically, raising a brow at her and she rolled her eyes. 

“It’s Quake, actually, and yeah, I knew that, statistically, it was highly probable that alien life exists,” she bit back, glaring at the man, “Just about everyone in this century knows that.” 

“Agent Johnson if you have some sort of issue with when I was born then you should just come out and say it,” Cap said, a frown on his face as he sat up in his chair. 

“Look, I couldn’t give two shits whether you were born yesterday or a thousand years ago, I just don’t think we really have time to be debating extraterrestrial life right now,” Daisy said, fighting the urge to roll her eyes again as she gestured to the holoscreen displaying Loki’s cell.  

“She’s right, gear up.” Director Fury said. Daisy wasn’t sure when he had entered but she was glad he was taking her side. “We’re under attack.” 

Daisy nodded, rushing out of the room to find her gauntlets and her weapons. It wasn’t a great idea to quake on a giant helicarrier so she’d probably be fighting old school. 

“Woah, what the hell is that Johnson?” Natasha Romanoff was sneakier than Fury and Daisy hadn’t even known she was in the room until her wrist was tightly in the woman’s grasp. 

She sighed, tugging her arm out of the redhead’s grip and slipping on her gauntlet to cover the writing. The marks weren’t uncommon, most of the world had them. They developed at age 16 and were usually the first words your soulmate said to you. However, not everyone got one or soulmates died and SHIELD specialized in utilizing the soulmark-less. That’s not to say there weren’t agents with soul marks in the organization, for ordinary agents SHIELD held a mostly don’t ask, don’t tell policy. Typically the only way to get into high-risk assignments like the Avengers was to prove the lack of a soulmate, but of course, the Avengers were less than typical. 

“They make exceptions for people with powers.” She brushed it off, slipping on her other gauntlet. 

“That doesn’t change the fact that you’re connected to someone,” Natasha argued and Daisy huffed, turning away. 

“Stark’s got a mark, and he’s actually met his soulmate. If something happens to me mine’ll never know what they missed.” 

Daisy quickly slid her various knives and guns into place in their holsters before leaving, effectively putting an end to one of the worst conversations she’d had in a while. She didn’t need the Black Widow to guilt-trip her, she had herself for that. She’d heard the stories about the pain people felt when their soulmate died and it often kept her up at night, but right now she had a job to do and she’d be damned if she sacrificed the world for one person she hadn’t even met. 

Of course, her dedication to the cause hadn’t mattered much, she still wound up on the floor of the helicarrier with Phil Coulson bleeding out. She didn’t know the man super well, but he was usually the agent present whenever an 0-8-4 was discovered and since Daisy was something of an 0-8-4 herself, they crossed paths pretty frequently. She knew he was an upstanding and kind man, she knew he was a good agent, and she knew he didn’t deserve to die like this. 

It wasn’t long until Fury came and swept him away and Hill ushered her back into the briefing room where some of the others were gathered. They all looked worse for wear and apparently they were about ready to give up. The Hulk was gone, Loki had jettisoned Thor from the airship, and he has the tesseract and would likely be taking over earth shortly. Daisy couldn’t believe it. 

“I just watched several good agents die, and you want to throw in the towel? Do you have any respect for yourselves?” She questioned, glaring at Rogers and Stark. 

She stormed out when she was met with silence, passing Fury in the hallway. She wanted desperately to change out of her skintight Quake suit and get cleaned up, but she wasn’t ready to give up the fight yet, opting instead to unzip the top half, tying the sleeves around her waist. She wandered around the ship like that, her sports bra the only thing covering her torso, before finding herself on the top deck, leaning over a railing. 

“Have you met them yet?” 

Daisy turned to see Rogers gesturing to her wrist where the words “Who the hell are you?” were written in a neat script. 

“Nah,” she shook her head, barely concealing her disappointment with a smile. 

“You’ll find them eventually, or they’ll find you.” He gave her a tight-lipped smile.

“Thanks for not berating me for risking my life while my soulmate is out there somewhere.” 

“Hey, I hid my makr to join a highly experimental drug trial and enlist in World War Two so I don’t have much room for judgment.” He joked and Daisy laughed, feeling a little better.

Daniel Sousa had been sure this would be another day at the station as he slipped his uniform over his shoulders, covering the soulmark on the back of his shoulder. Soulmarks appeared when a person turned 16, appearing at the place where their soulmate would first come in contact with them. The combination of the location of his mark and the words (“Probably your only chance at survival now let me go”) had always been a mystery to him though he hoped he would solve it soon. 

He took the subway to the station, just like he did every morning. Daniel was a police officer for the 99th precinct in NYC which was about a fifteen-minute subway ride away from his apartment. Despite its obvious flaws (thanks MTA), he liked taking the subway - it was more environmentally friendly than driving himself, it was much faster than trying to make it through New York traffic or walk (though sometimes he did walk when it was nice and his leg wasn’t bugging him as much), and the crowds increased the probability that he’d come across his soulmate. 

She wasn’t on the subway today again and so Daniel resigned himself to daydreams of how they might meet. He hoped it would be romantic, that she’d bump into him accidentally (it was the best way he could explain the back of his shoulder), maybe he’d catch her as she tripped over him and they’d lock eyes and she’d take his breath away. He pushed away the fears that she would be freaked out by his prosthetic or the fact that her words on his shoulder didn’t fit that scenario at all. He wanted their meeting to be perfect for her. 

He was ripped away from his thoughts by his partner, Jack Thompson, telling him they had to go check out a call downtown. There weren’t any detectives involved so it likely wasn’t anything serious- probably a noise complaint or something equally mundane.

Daniel had been right, the call was a typical noise complaint, easily solved and probably ignored as soon as they left the building (Jack bet they’d be back in 24 hours, Daniel gave it 32). However, he never could’ve guessed that when they went to climb back into the squad car a portal would open up in the sky and a bunch of space creatures would attack earth. Thompson grabbed the radio to inform the station of the situation. It took a few minutes of convincing (he didn’t blame them, he only believed it because he was seeing it) and a few more to figure out what to do (there really isn’t an official protocol for Hostile Alien Invasion) before they were told to stay put and that backup was on the way. 

Daniel reached for his gun, steeling himself for the fight he was sure he was about to be involved in. An alien invasion would be a really bad time for his crippling ptsd. Still, he was sure his hand would shake if he had to actually lift his gun, his finger would hesitate on the trigger, he’d have to fight to keep his eyes open because if he closed them all he’d see was Afghanistan. 

“Sousa you with me?” Thompson asked, snapping him from his thoughts. 

He nodded, letting out a shaky breath, when had he stopped breathing? 

Thompson nodded, more to himself than to Daniel, “Good, cause we’re going to get through this.”

If she had been really thinking at all, she might’ve wondered if she was having an out-of-body experience as she moved through the streets of Manhattan with the purpose of a woman on a mission. The Avengers were scattered across the borough trying to fight the Chitauri with mixed success. It seemed like no matter how many they blasted, quaked, shot, or struck with lightning more kept coming through the portal. Daisy was taking out as many of the aliens as she could while trying to command the local police forces- badges or not, they were purely human and severely underprepared to fight this threat. Their services were more equipped to evacuate and protect the civilians. 

She hadn’t been paying attention when she knocked into someone’s shoulder. It was a police officer, she noticed, though where most of the officers she’d seen seemed ready to take on the Chitauri head-on, he looked terrified. 

“Who the hell are you?” The man questioned, quickly grabbing her wrist before she could run off. 

“Probably your only chance at survival now let me go.” Daisy bit back angrily and the man gasped, dropping her arm and backing away like she had burned him. 

“You’re- we’re-” The man stuttered and even though he could’ve been about to say anything (maybe “you’re Quake!” or “We’re gonna die!”) Daisy knew exactly what he meant. She knew from the burning sensation on the wrist he had been holding. He was her soulmate. 

“Oh my god, I don’t have time for this!” Daisy yelled angrily, quaking the alien that had appeared behind the man. 

She silently cursed fate or destiny or whatever was behind this for planning her soulmate meeting during a literal alien invasion. 

“Listen, I need you to leave the frontlines- spread the word: all officers are to evacuate as many civilians as possible. Focus on protecting them.” She ordered making an effort to put the world-altering event before the life-altering event she had accidentally just stumbled upon. 

“Who’s going to be there to fight?” 

Daisy quaked another approaching Chitauri soldier. “Leave that to the people with powers.” 

The officer nodded mutely, seemingly stunned into silence. 

“Sousa!” Another officer called out, “Quit chatting we have a job to do!” 

The dark-haired officer, her soulmate, nodded to the man and started to move away. 

“Officer Sousa!” Daisy called, taking steps backward herself, “Maybe we can get some coffee when this is all done?” 

“Sure but how’ll I find you?” He asked, turning back to stare at her hopefully. 

Daisy’s steps were picking up speed, the urgency of the day not lost on her. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll find you!” 

And with that she was off, turning on her heels and sprinting towards Stark Tower.

Daisy stared at the computer monitor in front of her. It had been a few days since the Chitauri attack and while New York and her mental state was still a disaster, she needed to do this. The file she had found in SHIELD’s database was a welcome distraction, as was the handsome face staring back at her from the screen. 

Daniel Jordan Sousa. Born 1984 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Served one tour in Afghanistan before being discharged due to an injury resulting in the amputation of his left leg. 

She scrolled down to the contact information. 

Cellphone: (xxx)xxx-xxxx 

Bingo. 

Daisy: Hi, it’s Daisy Johnson, your soulmate? I was wondering if we could get that coffee?

She was surprised by how quickly he responded. 

Daniel: I’d love to! 

Daniel: btw how did you get my number? 

Daisy: It’s a bit of a story, mind if I tell you over that coffee?

Daniel: does 1:00 work? Maybe we could grab a bite to eat while we’re at it?

Daisy smiled before checking the time, 11 o’clock. She had two hours to get ready. 

Daisy: 1:00 sounds great. I know a cute place off 12th ave

Daniel had no intention of pulling his soulmate from the field, he knew it was where she wanted to be and he’d never dream of taking it from her. However, he’d be damned if he wasn’t out there to watch her back. So, he joined SHIELD not long after they met. Despite his prosthetic, he climbed the ranks relatively quickly though Daisy wasn’t surprised. She had seen his record both in the military and the police force, Daniel Sousa was a damn fine agent. 

The two weren’t in any hurry relationship-wise. They had moved in together fairly quickly but even two years later they had yet to get engaged. It was a bit of an anomaly - soulmates were usually hitched within a year of meeting each other but Daisy didn’t really hold much stock in a piece of paper declaring their relationship valid and Daniel decided he really didn’t need that paper either as long as he still had Daisy. Besides, with their separate jobs at SHIELD, they didn’t really have much time to plan engagements or weddings. 

In 2014 the pair were recruited to an elite team by Phil Coulson, the man Daisy could’ve sworn had died in her arms, the man the Avengers were told had died. She had shaken her head at Fury when she found out. “You manipulative son of a bitch,” she had said though she had meant it fondly. Who knows what would’ve happened when the Chitauri invaded if he hadn’t done what he had. 

Daisy and Daniel joined scientist duo and soulmates Jemma Simmons and Leopold Fitz as well as Coulson’s soulmate Melinda May on the Bus, a giant plane Fury had given Coulson as reparations for his death. The team had its bumps in its initial missions but they quickly became a tightly knit family that only grew when Coulson took over as Director of SHIELD after the Hydra takeover. 

When Daniel finally proposed Jemma had been her maid of honor and Bobbi and Elena had been her bridesmaids. Likewise, Fitz had been Daniel’s best man and Mack and Hunter had filled out the rest of the groomsmen roles. It had been a small but beautiful wedding, Daisy’s mom had allowed them to have the ceremony at Afterlife and Coulson and May had been their officiants. 

Daisy had cursed fate when they met, but looking back she realized it was all worth it for this.

Ingo and Emmet Are Both Autistic and I Will Die On This Hill, Thank You Very Much

Hey, remember over a year ago when I wrote that post screaming into the void about how Emmet is autistic? Consider this an updated version of that post, because I really should have talked about how they both are.

Disclaimer: I am an autistic adult who went undiagnosed until age 20 despite a blatant love of steam locomotives so I don’t know how I was missed considering I had the single most stereotypical interest on the planet. (I’ll touch on that later.)

Anyhow, I’ll try to keep this brief (and will likely fail), but let’s get into how both Ingo and Emmet are autistic, actually.

this goofball Emmet

Emmet’s the more obvious one, which is why I wrote the initial post linked above. He clearly scripts, has trouble containing his sheer excitement about things (read: Doubles) to the point of bothering other people, has no filter, will happily infodump about strategy or the MTA rules if asked, and in the manga has an arm-swinging walk that’s visibly a stim if you know it. 

The scripting is evident when you fight him by himself, as his dialogue often feels stiff (in Japanese it’s more informal to contrast with his hyper-formal brother), but the line that always seals the deal for me is actually this, when Ingo asks him to put in a few words before a Multi Battle:

“Hi, this is a script and I have no idea what to actually say to strangers so I’m just going to infodump the MTA rules at you now.”

But under that script, he’s bouncing off the walls with excitement - if you beat him, he’ll drop the script a bit, his “verrrry” verbal tic comes out, and he’ll ask you to come back. You can see a bit more of his genuine excitement in Masters, when he tells the player how happy he is that he gets to try a ton of new strategy because on Pasio battles are 3 vs. 3 (i.e. Multi combined with Triples).

One of my favorite screenshots from Masters is from this little moment in their event, in which they’ve just realized Roark and Steven Stone are there:

Look at Emmet’s hands. He’s practically vibrating. He wants to fight Steven so badly.

As for his lack of filter...well, that we’ve covered, but it’s especially evident in the manga:

He just...says things without really thinking about it. And it’s great.

Pixiv’s Darling Ingo

No, he’s not neurotypical, I’m sorry. He infodumps too much to be.

Those dramatic speeches he does before battling? Those are indicative of scripting, too. He’s also using a lot of big words and weirdly formal language, something a lot of us have noted down when we’re diagnosed - we talk weirdly formally.

And oh, God, does this one infodump like a pro. When I first got his dialogue in Masters in which he infodumps about high-speed rail, I felt so goddamned seen.

(The real-life equivalents of what he’s talking about, the MagLev and TGV, are legitimately incredible, so I can’t blame him for this one bit because I am also excited about those things.)

Ingo also notably has ABSOLUTELY NO volume control, which is absolutely something a lot of autistic people (myself included) struggle with. I don’t realize how loud I am most of the time unless someone points it out to me. This is not always great, because I work in a library.

There’s also the “not smiling” thing, which Masters reveals he’s genuinely concerned about - a lot of autistic people don’t always display facial expressions equivalent to how we feel. Ingo tries to mask this by being over-expressive verbally, but people certainly do notice that he doesn’t smile much. (In Legends: Arceus, he’s finally allowed to smile for the first time in a game, and it’s actually really nice to see him get to do it.) A lot of the time, we’ll have to force the facial expressions people want to see from us, and it looks rather unnatural, so it’s nice to see a fictional character have the same problem for once.

Now, like I said I’d mention at the beginning of this post...

The train thing is a stereotype, but it’s one grounded in reality:

There’s no one definitive reason why so many of us do the train stuff, but we do. A lot of people think it’s the visual stimuli, or that trains run on a set schedule, giving us the routine we seek. Still others have proposed that it’s because trains are easily sorted into categories. Whatever it is - and it might be different for each of us - it’s there.

For me personally, I’m a history person (I literally have a history degree), and trains are actually a hobby I share with my dad, particularly steam locomotives. But I absolutely feel the draw that other autistic railfans feel to trains in general, and I don’t really know if I can put the feeling into words - I just really like seeing these well-engineered machines, knowing historical ones are being preserved, and longing for the day someone will allow me on the footplate so I can drive. I can’t fully explain the pull, but I feel the pull intensely.

Anyway, I have once again failed at keeping this short, because I can’t help but infodump about things, either. Whoops. So there you go, they’re both autistic, fight me.
