It was your aunt’s wedding and your final night before you left your hometown for college. You would be going to MSU while all your friends would be heading to UMich. You knew there would be tension there due to the rivalry, but tonight was about saying goodbye.
Even when you were here with all your friends, you couldn’t get one of them out of your mind. Mark, your enemy of 12 years turned frenemy turned lover turned back to your friend. He left right after graduation to start working out with the hockey coach at Michigan, leaving you sad and alone.
You sat around with your remaining friends at the table assigned for you all. One of your friends was able to snag a bottle of Pink Whitley for you all to secretly drink. That meant it was time for a drinking game of ‘Never Have I Ever’.
“Okay,” Luca drunkenly giggled. “Never have I ever hooked up with someone in school.”
You glanced over at Rutger and his girlfriend as they both took a sip of their Pink Whitley. “Oh my God,” Adam yelled out, obviously disturbed by the new information.
Rutger shrugged before defending himself, “A few quickies in the janitor’s closet doesn’t hurt anybody!” His girlfriend rolled her eyes at his comment while laughing.
“You guys are disgusting,” Ethan laughed.
“Okay, okay! I got one,” you announced. “Never have I ever hooked up with…” Suddenly he entered the wedding reception, looking around like he was lost. “Mark?” Mark was wearing a hoodie and sweats, making him look severely out of place.
Your friend, and Mark’s ex girlfriend, widened her eyes. “I’ve been there before.” She took a sip of her drink, but you weren’t focused on that. You were focused on the male who had just crashed the wedding.
You locked eyes with him from across the room, your heart pounding loudly. “Mark?” You felt dizzy and dissociated as you rose from your seat. You hesitantly walked toward him and stared at him in disbelief.
He looked just as shocked as you were that he was here. “Y/N,” he said, taking a quick glance down at your bridesmaid’s dress. “Wow, you look beautiful,” he breathed out.
This comment would’ve turned you into a flustered mess, but your mind was too cluttered to even process his sentence. The only thoughts in your mind were… “Why are you here?! How did you get here?!” you blurted out loud.
“Well uh,” he stuttered. He looked down at his shoes while his hands buried into his hoodie pockets. “I just felt like I didn’t get to say what I wanted to at graduation and being gone really made me realize that.”
He fell silent, his face turning a bright shade of red. “Realize what?” Your eyebrows crinkled as you waited for his answer.
Finally, he lifted his head and looked you directly in the eye. “Y/N, I didn’t get to tell you that… I really like you.”
You blinked a couple times, your mind went blank as if you were stuck in some sort of vivid dream. “Wait, so you came down here all the way from Ann Arbor just to tell me… you like me?”
“Actually,” he said, his smile slowly rising. “I think I love you, Y/N.” He shifted his weight from side to side, obviously nervous.
You were at total loss for words. Everything seemed to slow down. No noise made its presence known except your own heartbeat that echoed throughout the room.
There was so much going through your mind, but you couldn’t pin down any thoughts. “What?” you blurted. It was the only word you could actually say.
He stared at you for a moment before finally saying it. “I love you.” There was so much emotion and passion in those three words. In those eight letters.
The butterflies in your stomach seemed to have multiplied exponentially at this point. The whole room fell away, leaving you and him alone. “I love you too, Mark.”
His stupid grin grew wide as he let out a small chuckle. “So… you wanna get out of here?” he asked hesitantly. He had an optimistic look in your eye that you would say yes.
At first, you were going to, but then those words snapped you back to reality. You had been so blinded by his confession that you didn’t realize how bad of an idea this was. Sneaking out of your aunt’s wedding.
Are you crazy?
“I don’t think I should…” you frowned.
His expression shifted from blissful to disappointed due to your response. “Oh,” he muttered.
“It’s not you or anything,” you assured him. “It’s just my parents would kill me if I left.”
Before you could continue to explain yourself, you felt someone tap your shoulder. You looked behind you and saw your older cousin. “I’ll cover for you,” they whispered in your ear. “Now, go!” Due to your guys’ bond, they felt more like your older sibling than your cousin.
You looked back at Mark, a smile growing on your face before nodding. “Let’s go!” You grabbed a hold of his hand.
He smiled widely as he intertwined your fingers with his before running out of the reception with you. As soon as you stepped out of the doors, you were met with light rainfall in the early Michigan night. You continued running through the rain with him, getting wet in the process.
You giggled as he led you to his Jeep which was parked right along the street. You hopped in the passenger side while he got in the driver’s side.
The moonlight illuminated his face as he looked back over at you with a wide smile on his face. “Holy shit! This is crazy,” he said while laughing.
“This is!” you answered, but you were too busy focusing on him.
His smile. His Laugh.
Sparks flew whenever he smiled at you, you saw them every time. His laugh sounded more charming to you than the melody of a symphony. It fit perfectly with the man you had fallen in love with.
His chest rose and fell with rapid breaths as he maintained eye contact with you. You could sharpen a knife with the sexual tension in his car.
Mark couldn’t resist you any longer. He grabbed the side of your face and leaned in for the kiss you both had been craving.
His soft lips pressed against yours as your eyes closed. The desperate kiss felt hungry because this time it felt right. It felt like home. You felt positive that you two were endgame.
You broke apart for air, leaning your forehead against his. You hand trailed up to touch his which was on your face. Tears fell down your cheeks as the feeling washed over you again. “I love you so much, Mark.”
He grinned before kissing your forehead again. “I love you too, Y/N. I always will.”

Speeding across the country, in somebody else's car Keeping a book of secrets, and taking it too far (x)
Ricky's has got a handful of secrets:
The eyesore of a 'magenta' car he drives is stolen.
His college degree is a forgery.
The blood on his jacket is Definitely His Own.
And he's never forgiven the owners of that old pizzeria for the events of '87. After all, that was his little brother's head inside the jaws of a mechanical monster.
Here's all you need to know about Ricky Kronbach and his terrible, horrible, no good, very bad life courtesy of an extensive list of extremely bad decisions.
Tumblr media
A movie!verse OC (in a "what if the games somehow still happened in the movie!verse but the dates were slightly altered" type of AU; ie the bite of '87 still occurred but rather than Jeremy Fitzgerald getting chomped, it was MCI!Jeremy)
Tumblr media
"He said he could bring Jeremy back." "Jeremy's been gone a decade." "But what if he can? What if it's possible?"
Born September 9th, 1972 to Mary and John Kronbach in Great Falls, Minnesota. As the oldest of two kids he's both stubborn and protective, the former by instinct and the latter by necessity. With John's violent outbursts and propensity to gamble away most of the family income, and Mary's neglect in response to Ricky acting as a "tomboy" from a young age, home life for the Kronbach siblings was less than stellar.
To catch a break, Ricky would get into his allowance and bike down to Freddy's with his little brother Jeremy in tow. It happened often enough that multiple servers and one of the owners' daughters knew them by name. But late one Friday in November of 1987, tragedy came rushing up to meet the Kronbach's when Jeremy, aided by the owner's daughter, requested to see the Bonnie animatronic up close. No one exactly knows how the nine-year-old managed to get his head stuck between its jaws, triggering the springlock mechanism that killed him.
Following these events, John blamed Ricky for the death of his "only son" and unleashed a reign of terror on the teenager that would only end in further tragedy. When questioned about the events that took place during "The Christmas Massacre of '87", Ricky would claim to have been asleep during his parents' murder. At no point does he confide in anyone about the night terrors that lead up to the event—of the 7ft tall, striped marionette that led him towards the knife block on the kitchen counter.
The night terrors continue well into adulthood, even after his suspension from MSU's post-grad program, when he threatened one of his professors and picked fights with several classmates for unspecified reasons. With a criminal record and infamy attached to his family name, Ricky is forced to seek professional help when no one would employ him.
In the Spring of 1996, Ricky meets his career counselor, Steve Raglan, who offers him a night security gig. Ricky turns down the opportunity, and upon exiting the office he notices a magenta Chevrolet that seems familiar. Disconcerted that he can't pinpoint where he's seen it before, Ricky decides to skip town and start a new life altogether, as far away from his past as possible.
"I'm thinking Anaheim. Become an Imagineer. Someone who puts a smile on kids' faces, y'know?"
Strangely enough, in a Denny's out in the Middle of Nowhere, Colorado over a year later, he comes across the same car, the same career counselor, and Ricky is now certain "Steve Raglan" isn't who he claims to be.
"Steve Raglan" knows the name Kronbach, knows about Ricky's past and his impressive academic record, so he makes him one more offer the young man can't possibly refuse: if Ricky helps him finish an old project him and his old business partner set out to create in the 80s, then "Steve" can bring Ricky's brother back from the dead.

Some picrew references—altho! @/namonaki-arts took these references and brought him to life in chibi form.
Tumblr media
Does this look like a man who'd team up with a serial killer to bring back his dead brother who may or may not have been a victim of said serial killer? Look at him. Does he look like someone with his own trail of dead bodies and stolen cars and also arson? P'shaw.

Going Away to College- All Time Low Fanfiction
Jack and Alex are roommates their freshman year of college. College AU. Word Count: 1536
TW: anxiety/panic attacks
More notes at the end.
“Bye Jack, we’ll see you on your fall break,” Mr. Barakat said, giving his son a hug.
“Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need something, okay,” Mrs. Barakat continued. Jack was a freshman at MSU, and his parents had spent the day moving into his brand-new dorm. He was nervous about some of his classes, but was very excited to be moved out, make new friends, and to start becoming the person that he was meant to be.
“I’ll be okay, don’t worry. Thank you, guys, for helping me,” Jack said, hugging them both.
“We love you,” Mrs. Barakat said, before her and her husband walked out of the dorm lobby. Jack went over to the staircase and started the walk up to his room. His dorm building was so old that it didn’t have an elevator. He already knew that walking up three flights of stairs multiple times a day would get annoying quickly. When he finally got up, he walked to his room and unlocked the door. When he opened it, he saw his roommate, Alex, talking to his parents. He didn’t know Alex before move in day, he’d just done the random roommate selection on his school’s housing site. From what Jack could gather, Alex seemed to be really close to his parents, so Jack left him alone for most of the day. He didn’t want to take time away from them, he had plenty of time to get to know him throughout the upcoming semester.
“I can come back later,” Jack said awkwardly.
“We were just about to head on. Want to walk us down, sweetie?” Alex’s mom asked. Alex just nodded, then followed his parents out of the small room. Jack grabbed his laptop, then sat on his bed. He noticed how hard the mattress was, but shrugged it off, he wasn’t expecting much better.  He went to YouTube, and found some Blink concert videos, then started to watch them. A few minutes later, the door opened up and Alex came back in, immediately sitting in his bed with his phone. Not wanting an awkward silence, Jack turned off his video and shut his laptop.
“So, do you know what your major is, Alex?” Jack asked, trying to make some kind of conversation.
“Music,” Alex replied in a small voice. To Jack, it sounded like he’d been crying.
“That’s cool, I’m a psychology major, myself. What instrument do you play?” Jack asked.
“I’m a singer,” Alex replied in the same small voice. Jack could tell there was something wrong but wasn’t sure exactly what.
“Hey, are you okay, Alex?” Jack asked, sounding concerned.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Alex said, his voice cracking halfway through.
“Are you sure?” Jack continued.
“Yeah, I’m-“ Alex cut himself off, putting his hand to his mouth and getting up. He ran out of their room, leaving his key on his bed. Jack decided to get up and follow him and make sure that he was okay. Sure, he didn’t know Alex at all, but he still cared about him, and he wanted to be friends with his roommate.  What kind of friend would he be if he didn’t check up on Alex? He grabbed his key and walked down to the community bathroom at the end of the hall. Out of the six stalls, only the handicapped one was locked. Jack could see Alex’s shoes under the door and saw that he was sitting in front of the toilet.
“Hey man, you don’t have to do this if you’re not comfortable with it, but can you maybe let me in? I just want to make sure you’re okay, and try to help you if not,” Jack explained, leaning up against the stall.
“Are you serious?” Alex asked back.
“Of course I am. I know we don’t know each other very well, but I want us to be friends. What kind of friend would I be if I didn’t try to help you feel better?” Jack asked. Alex unlocked the door, and Jack walked in. Alex was sitting in front of the toilet, holding his stomach. Jack relocked the door, then sat next to Alex.
“Are you sick?” Jack asked.
“No, not really,” Alex replied.
“What’s wrong then?” Jack continued.
“Anxiety, it’s making my stomach hurt,” Alex replied.
“I see. Have you actually gotten sick?” Jack asked.
“No, I tried to stop it, I didn’t want anyone else to hear it and be grossed out,” Alex replied.
“Fuck what everyone else thinks. Don’t hold it, that’s not good for you. I promise it’s going to be okay,” Jack assured. They sat in silence until Alex shifted forward. He held his stomach and began to get sick. Jack rubbed his back until he was done.
“Sorry you had to see that,” Alex mumbled, sounding embarrassed.
“Don’t apologize, it’s okay Alex. Why don’t we get you cleaned up, then go back to our room and talk some?” Jack suggested. Alex just nodded in reply. Jack flushed the toilet, then helped Alex stand. Alex cleaned himself up, then they went back to their dorm.
“Come sit over here with me,” Jack said, patting the spot next to him on his bed. Alex walked over and sat with Jack.
“Now, what’s up, Alex? You don’t have to say anything you’re not comfortable sharing, but I want to try to help you,” Jack explained.
“I guess I’m just a bit anxious,” Alex replied.
“About living here? College in general?” Jack continued.
“I’m really close to my parents, so knowing that I won’t get to see them everyday kind of freaks me out,” Alex explained.
“It’s okay, Alex. I feel a bit weird knowing that I won’t see my parents a lot now, too,” Jack sympathized.
“It’s kind of more than that. My brother died when I was younger, which was really hard for me. My parents were a huge help in dealing with that, since we navigated it as a family. It made us really close. They were who I went to whenever I had a problem, I tell them everything. I know that probably sounds lame, but yeah,” Alex finished, tearing up a bit. Jack put his arm around Alex.
“It’s not lame, I think it’s cool that you guys are so close. Honestly, I wish my family were more like that. We don’t have problems or anything, but we’re definitely not like yours. And, you can still talk to your parents if you feel like you need to, I’m sure they’d be happy to text or call you if something comes up. Also, you can always talk to me. I know we don’t really know each other, and you don’t have to if you’re not comfortable with it, but I’ll always be up to talk if you need it,” Jack offered.
“I really appreciate that, thank you, Jack. Sorry I’ve made such a shitty first impression,” Alex replied, wiping some stray tears from his eyes.
“You haven’t done that at all. I’m glad that we talked about this and didn’t just keep it bottled up. Being away from home will most likely become a lot easier for you as time passes,” Jack said.
“I hope so. I’m excited to study music here, I just wish I could see my parents everyday and be in my room at home,” Alex replied.
“I know, I’m going to miss my room, too. But, it’ll make going home for the holidays feel really special,” Jack pointed out.
“That’s true, I guess. Hey, thank you for helping me feel a little better,” Alex said, making Jack smile.
“No problem man, you can always talk to me, no matter what. Don’t forget that. I want us to be friends, and friends have to be there for each other, right?” Jack pointed out.
“Very true. Oh, and you can always talk to me if you need it, too. I’ve been told that I’m actually pretty good with advice and stuff,” Alex explained.
“When I’m stressed about finals, I’ll probably take you up on that,” Jack replied, making them laugh some.
“Anytime, I’m glad that I did the random roommate picker, since we got assigned together. I was super nervous that I’d get stuck with some asshole,” Alex admitted.
“I was too, actually. I’m glad we got paired up. I think we’ll really be able to support each other and stuff,” Jack replied, making both of them smile.
“This is actually the best I’ve felt all day. Thanks for talking to me,” Alex said.
“No problem. Now, let’s do something fun. Do you like Blink-182?” Jack asked.
“Yeah, they’re my favorite band!” Alex exclaimed.
“Me too! What do you say we watch their live DVD? I have it downloaded to my laptop,” Jack suggested.
“Sure, that’d be awesome!” Alex replied. Jack set the movie up on his laptop, and they started to watch it. They watched it all the way through, and ended up staying up late talking, even though the next morning would be their first day of their freshman year. Alex still wasn’t completely fine with being so far from home and his parents but having Jack as his roommate and new friend made everything easier.
A/N: Hey guys! I wrote this story almost a year ago. I was a freshman in college, and felt how Alex does in this. I wrote this like a diary entry to help myself deal with the anxiety of a new situation, and I hope that it can help someone out there who is anxious about the same thing. I based Alex on myself in this, and I remember it really helping me feel better when I wrote it. I hope you guys liked this, since it was a bit different. Send in requests if you have them! Lots of love, Liv

Pretty Boy’s Christmas Present
Ship: Spencer Reid/Reader Fandom: Criminal Minds Characters/Personality: Spencer Reid, Fem!Reader AU: None Small summary: Spencer spends Christmas with the Reader and has something special for her.
Word Count: 3.1k Important: (M/M/N) Mother's maiden name (Y/N) Your Name (N/N) Nickname (F/B/N) Father's Brother's name (F/B) Favorite Book (A/N) Author's Name
£WARNINGS£ Cursing hinted smut.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So tomorrow we have open Christmas presents on (L/N) side. Then on Christmas Eve, we go to church with the (M/M/N) and after church, we go to my Grandma (M/M/N)'s house and open presents. Finally, on Christmas Day we open presents with my parents then have dinner at my Aunt's house." You brief your boyfriend on as you pull down the dead-end road your parents live in.
"Sweetheart, it'll be fine. I remember everyone's' name and which kids are whos. I should be fine. Besides, we've been together for three years now, they know that I'm not really good on social confrontations." Spencer rubs your hand as you hold the other tight on the steering wheel pulling into your driveway.
"I know, I always worry though." You smile at him. "Now let's get out and get these presents inside. Then we can steal the all my Mother's Christmas cookies." You giggle at him as you 'boop' his nose.
As you step outside, you are somewhat surprised at how warm it is and still have a few inches of snow on the ground. You pop the trunk of your car as you see your Mom walking out of the garage to come help you.
"Hi, Momma." You give her a quick kiss, "Now tell me where I can drop these off in the house."
"You Dad is in the kitchen he'll take them to the tree, Pumpkin." She smiles at you.
Your Mother quickly grabs Spencer's and your bags out of the car and shuts the trunk for you. Along with some presents.
You walk up in the garage when you hear Spencer scold you Mom, "Mrs (L/N), no peeking!"
You giggle at that and walk into the house to see your Father sitting at the counter picking at his non-existent fingernails. "Hey Dad, can ya help me here?"
Spencer and your Mother weren't far behind you. Spencer let's out a silent laugh at how you create a more Michigander accent when you are home or talk to your parents.
You take off your snow boots and take the presents from Spencer and follow your Father to the tree and place them there.
You notice your cat (C/N), sitting on the back of one of the family's rocking chairs. You pick up the cat and they snuggle with you.
"Hey, baby boy." You smile at the cat and bouncing him like you would make a baby fall asleep.
As you walk are the tree you hear Spencer's phone ring, "Hello?" You hear him answer.
"Spencer Reid, if that is Penelope Garcia I swear to God." You tell him walking to him.
Spencer's face lit up when he heard who was talking to him, "Hey Henry!"
You smile at Spencer's reaction.
"Yeah, we're fine. We made it." Spencer cheers through his phone.
"Hey, Henry!" You say walking pass your boyfriend.
You laugh as you sit down (C/N) on the stool. As Spencer talks with Henry on the phone, you begin to make some coffee. "Hey Dad, do you want some coffee?" You ask loudly, so he can hear you, threw the kitchen-living room window.
"Yeah." Was all your Father answers.
You sigh, filling up the coffee maker.
"No JJ, he wasn't bothering us... Okay, see you soon." Spencer smiles as he hangs up. "Apparently, Henry took JJ's phone and called me just to see if we made it safely."
"Well, that was sweet of him." You smile at Spencer, you could hear the TV in the living room playing 'Law & Order'. "I'm making coffee."
"Well did you know that Teddy Roosevelt would drink a gallon of coffee a day. Also, did you know a human can only have 100 cups of coffee before the caffeine will kill them." Spencer informs you while wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his head on your shoulder.
You give e him a quick kiss on the cheek, "Doctor Reid, I love you and all your facts but, I need to get a coffee mug." You twist out of his grasp and try to reach the shelves with the mugs but, to no avail, you're too short.
"Well, let's grab your university mug and, the MSU one," Spencer says, grabbing the mugs, and kiss the top of your head.
"Thanks, Loverboy." You smile taking the mugs and filling them up, "Sugar is on the stove, Sugar." You smile handing him the coffee.
You walk out to the living room, "Here, Dad." You hand him the coffee.
"Mom wants us to go to a restaurant for dinner." Your father explains to you.
"So I'll have to be presentable." You smile at him, "Well, I'm going to put our suitcases in the basement."
After you left for college, your parents basically made an extra room in the basement when you visit and left your room to make a home office. Your Mom had to plan on making it into a walk-in closet but, you told her it would better to make it a computer room instead of the computer in the middle of the living room.
You walk down the stairs, the basement was basically a little apartment. It has a little living space, with an older TV and a loveseat. It has a room that you put up with your father, the room was a small bedroom. You even help put in a small kitchenette. There's a little bathroom two with a shower.
You put both of yours and Spencer's clothes away and you take out the clothes you're going to wear that night. You head to the bathroom place all of your toiletries were they should go.
You check the time with the clock on the wall, 3:30, you quickly head upstairs.
You walk into the living room to see your Dad catching Spencer up with the show and your Mom to playing 'Candy Crush' as she sits on the other rocking chair.
"Hey, I'm goin' ta jump in the shower." You tell them, manly your Mother so she doesn't start to do dishes or something to run the hot water out.
"Alright." Your mom says.
This is when you notice Spencer has a plate full of Christmas cookies. "You're not going to spoil your appetite, Spence." You scold him, taking the cookies away.
You take the cookies and place them on the kitchen counter. Then you head back downstairs.
You make your way to the bathroom. You take your clothes off and discard them in the cloth hamper. You take off your wristbands and set them by the sink along with your glasses. You pull your hair out of the braid you put it in early that morning. You brush through your hair as you wait for the water to warm up.
You hop in the shower and stand there for a minute. Then begin to do your thing.
<~•~>
You yawn as you take off your jacket and set it on the loveseat.
"You should head to bed, babe," Spencer tells you as he comes downstairs, a jello cup in hand.
"Yeah," You say in a very tired voice. You lift your shirt over your head. "I'm planning on helping my Mom cook for tomorrow's party."
"Okay, you know she'll wake up early to cook, so you need to sleep." He tells you as he rubs your lower back and kisses your cheek.
You unbuckle your belt and slide your jeans off. You give him a kiss, "I'm going to go braid my hair." You tell Spencer.
"Hey, are feeling okay, (N/N)?" Spencer asks you as he tosses the jello cup and whips his mouth.
"I think the sudden coldness is activating my allergies." You tell him, grabbing your brush and sitting on the loveseat.
"Oh, babe, I'm sorry, I didn't bring any decongestants." Spencer apologizes to you as he takes off his cardigan and undershirt.
"I think my mom has some," you say throwing on the shirt Spencer just discarded, "I'll go asks my Mom, it's only 8, they should still be up."
You run upstairs, Spencer's shirt is big enough to act like a dress. Lucky your Mother is in the kitchen getting out a glass of milk.
"Hey Mom, do you still have any decongestants?" You ask her.
"Um," she looks in the cabinet, "Yeah, here." Your Mom says tossing you a pill.
"Thanks, Momma." You thank her and you head back downstairs.
You find Spencer curled up on the loveseat wear his pajamas. You decide that you're just gonna wear his shirt.
"Mary Poppins is on." He informs you as you get a glass of water from the little kitchenette.
You don't say anything, you just sit next to him and cuddle while you watch the movie.
<~•~>
You stir awake and feel the other side of the bed. Spencer must already be up, his side is fairly cold.
As you get up and get dressed, you realize that he must have moved you to the bed because you're pretty sure you fell asleep on the loveseat.
You head upstairs to see Spencer, who is still in a pair of pajama pants and a baggy shirt and his hair pulled back in a little ponytail, helping your Mother cook some deserts. You look at your mother and notice she is basically wearing the same thing as Spence, just with a pair of old shorts.
"Is this evenly spread enough?" Your boyfriend asks, referring to the crust of what you believe is your Mother's infamous chocolate surprise.
"Yeah that should be good, thank you, Spencer." Your mother tells him, "Now you can wash your hands and chop some olives for me."
"Oh, Good Morning, (N/N)" Spencer smiles at you.
"Good-morning', hey wears Dad?"You ask your Mother for the fact you don't see him in the living room.
"He's at Uncle (F/B/N) helping to clean." Your Mother explains to you.
"Oh, well do you need any help?" You ask.
"Yeah, can you wrap all those presents on the table."
"Yeah, I can."
<~•~>"Oh, it's so nice to see you again, baby." Your Grandpa (L/N) tells you.
"Nice to see you too, Grandpa." You smile hugging him.
"You still working with the FBI?"
"Of course, Alex." You tell your older cousin, even though you graduated before him.
"(Y/N)!" Your little cousin Elizabeth yells running up to you.
"Hiya, Elizabeth." You pick up the 7-year-old.
She was officially adopted by your Aunt last year, even if though she fostered her since she was a little toddler.
"So, how have you been?" You ask her. "Um, good!"
"Hey, you're getting heavy, I need to put you down." You set her down. She gives you an 'Okay!' and runs back to the living room to play with one of your Uncle's dog.
Spencer, who was bringing in the last bit of food from the car, gives you a puzzled look, "(Y/N), I've seen you take down Morgan before." "Well, he stole all my (F/S) from my desk, he didn't see me when I tackled him." You smile at Spencer.
Spencer licks his lips and gives you a confused look, "Um... I'm not even going to ask when that happened."
With that last comment, it receives a laugh from your family.
<~•~>
"How did you do that!" Elizabeth exclaims, reacting to Spencer pulling a quarter from behind her ear.
You look up from the sketch journal, which you snuck into Spencer's bag before you two left your parents house.
"If you can get me a box of cards, I'll show you more," Spencer tells her. With this information, she runs to go find your Aunt to ask if they have any.
"You're great with kids, Spence." You lean on to him and wiggle against him.
"Thanks." He kisses the top of your head and wrapping his arm around you, rubbing your back.
"Present time!" All your cousins, and some Aunts yell.
You close your sketchbook, protecting the doodle you're making for Jack and Henry. You set it behind you on the couch and make your way to the floor. You slide over to where you're leaning on Spencer's legs.
"Um... (Y/N), pick one." One of your Aunts tells you, holding up two pillows.
One of a cat and the other one was a blue floral print one. You grab the car one. "Thanks." You smile as they leave to give the other one to Elizabeth.
"This is a shirt I used to wear. Whenever you hold it know I am there, love Grandma." Spencer reads out loud, he strokes your hair as he reads it.
"Grandma (L/N), she died a year before we started dating." You lean your head back to look up at him.
"I remember that you've only been working at the B.A.U for a year." Spencer tucks your hair behind your ears, "When you got the call, your face just dropped. You didn't cry though, I always wondered why. I just haven't asked because JJ said that would be impolite."
"It's just, I was never really close to her." You tell him.
<~•~>
You walk towards your church's entrance, Spencer's hand on your lower back to support you in case you slip on the ice. You follow your parents into the warm building. Spencer, being the polite man he is, holds the door for you and the older couple behind you.
You hold the second door for them, "Thank you, Sweetie."
You give them a nod, and Spencer takes the door so you can walk through.
"You okay?" You look up at him, linking your pinkies together.
"Hm?... Um... Yeah." He tells you, but not convincing you.
"If you need to step out during the service it'll be fine." You tell him.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just got lost in thought." Spencer tells you quickly giving your temple a kiss.
The two of you walk into the sanctuary, "Hey (Y/N)."
"Hey, Doug!" You smile at your old family friend, as he hands you and Spencer a candle.
You walk with Spencer and sit next to your Mother, leaving enough space for Grandma (M/M/N).
"(Y/N)! It's great to see you again!"  Mary, the Pastor's wife gives you a hug.
"Nice to see you, too," You tell her.
As you catch up with people from your childhood, Spencer notices your small grandmother pushing your grandfather in his wheelchair.
"Mrs (M/M/N), let me help." He tells her, taking over pushing the larger man.
"You're a good man, Spencer." Your grandma pats the genius's back.
Spencer smiles, he really liked how close you were to your family. He loves how you would drop everything to help your grandma.
Early that day, your grandma needed something from town. So you stopped helping your dad and went to town.
<~•~>
You sit on the couch, while Spencer sits on the ground, leaning on your legs. Your dad sat next to you.
Spencer has been acting weird all day but, now that presents are ring passed out her has been uneasy.
"This is the last one, (Y/N)." Your mom hands you a present.
"Thanks, Momma."
You look at the tag: To (Y/N), From Spencer.
You smile at Spencer and begin to unwrap it. You smile as you realize that it (F/B). You open the cover to see the author signed their name.
You begin to read it out loud, "To (Y/N) (L/N), Will you marry Spencer Reid? Signed (A/N)."
You look up from the book to see Spencer, on one knee, with a little black box that holds an engagement ring.
"Y-You asked me earlier tonight why I was so out of it. I wanted everything to go to plan. (N/N), when you walked in on the first day, I knew there was something special about you. If it wasn't thanks to Derek and Penelope, I don't think I would ever have asked you out. Even though our first date was ruined by getting called out on a case, it's still one of the best times I've ever had. You're so beautiful, and smart, and loving. I don't know where I would be without you. You amazing me when it comes to math, I have a doctorate in mathematics, and I still think you understand it than me. You're just so amazing and remarkable. You have so much patience with hysterical families. It took me awhile to realize your dad was giving me a hard time when I asked about doing this but, I love you so much, (N/N). I guess what I'm trying to say is, will you marry me?" Spencer rants on and asks you.
You just sit there, your hand over your mouth. It takes you a second to realize what's happening. You start crying, "Y-yes, Spencer." You smile through the tears of joy.
"I love you so much, (Y/N)," Spencer tells you engulfing you in a hug.
"I love you too, Spencer." You hug him tightly, never going to let him go.
<~•~>
You slowly stir awake, turning around, you are greeted by the face of your now fiancée.
"Morning, beautiful." His voice a little rough.
"Morning." You kiss him.
You notice his little stubble. Spencer pulls you in close, "I enjoyed last night, for multiple reasons." He chuckles.
You giggle, thinking back to why the undergarments you had on last night were all the way across the room, and why it was more than two reasons.
"Yeah, it was. I love you, Mr. Reid." You smile.
"I love you too, future Mrs. Reid."
You get up out of the bed, putting on the button down of Spencer's you tossed last night, and look out the window.
Suddenly your phone goes off with a text message.
"Hey, pumpkin, your dad and I got snowed in over at your Aunt house. We should be home tomorrow. You can open your presents today, love you." Spencer reads, "It looks like we have the house to ourselves." He sits up in bed.
"Well, let's not put it to waste." You smile subjectively, taking off the shirt again.
This’ll be weird.
Earlier this afternoon, the SEC announced that they were going to follow the lead of other Power Five leagues around the country and alter the college football schedule.
BREAKING: The SEC is moving to a 10-game conference schedule and will move back the season start to Sept. 26: https://t.co/JL6h3qeo9D
— John Talty (@JTalty) July 30, 2020
While the Big Ten, PAC-12, and ACC had already made decisions on their respective conference slates due to the impact of the coronavirus, the SEC had held off in announcing anything. Today, we learned that the following will be true:
10-game conference schedule
Season pushed back to begin September 26th
SEC Championship Game pushed back to December 19th in Atlanta
Each team will play two additional cross-divisional opponents
No non-conference games will be played
For Auburn specifically, that means we won’t be playing the marquee non-con game on the Tigers’ schedule, which was supposed to come against North Carolina in Atlanta. We also won’t be getting three home games against relative cupcakes, which will have financial impacts to the athletic department income.
With nonconference games eliminated for the SEC this season, Auburn loses out on its $5 million payout for the UNC game. Program also won't have to dole out a combined $4.225 million to Alcorn State, Southern Miss and UMass for games at Jordan-Hare Stadium this fall.
— Tom Green (@Tomas_Verde) July 30, 2020
While Auburn won’t likely face any consequences for missing these games, due to the SEC’s overarching announcement on the reshuffling schedule, and also force majeure clauses in the respective contracts.
This year, Auburn was set to play the following conference opponents in this order:
@ Ole Miss
vs Kentucky
@ Georgia
vs Texas A&M
@ Mississippi State
vs Arkansas
vs LSU
@ Alabama
Now, it’s being surmised that Auburn will add two East division opponents, and conventional wisdom says that the Tigers will get South Carolina and Missouri. The biggest question comes in the form of how the schedule gets laid out for each team. With the addition of two new opponents for everyone, the conference is going to have to spin the wheel and come up with a new schedule altogether.
In other areas of the country, the ACC has decided to abolish divisions for this season, and their championship game will be played between the top two teams in the conference in terms of winning percentage. It’s the same way the Big 12 has conducted its championship game selection over the past few seasons, and it results in a game between the two best teams. Of course, not everything will be equal in the SEC.
Some teams will add tougher games. Some teams will add easier games.
If SEC prezs vote conference-only, 2 additional SEC games could be the next 2 in each team's rotation. BAMA: UF, VU AU: SC, MU ARK: UG, SC LSU: UK, UT MSU: VU, UG OM: UT, UK TAMU: MU, UF — UF: BAMA, TAMU UG: ARK, MSU UK: LSU, OM MU: TAMU, AU SC: AU, ARK UT: OM, LSU VU: MSU, BAMA
— Ross Dellenger (@RossDellenger) July 29, 2020
As you can see, Auburn’s additions really aren’t that tough when you consider other teams. Of course, Auburn already plays Alabama, Georgia, and LSU every single year, but South Carolina/Missouri’s a pretty easy add. When you look at Florida, however, the Gators didn’t have any favors done for them getting Alabama and A&M, in addition to their schedule that already features Georgia and LSU every year.
We also have no idea when certain games will be played. I’m sure the SEC will do everything in its power to push rivalry games to their normal points in the schedule, but it’ll still be weird.
Including the new Opening Weekend of September 26th, there are ten Saturdays leading up to the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which is normally Rivalry Weekend. We don’t know how many bye weeks teams will get, but if they offer two, then everyone can play on September 26th, have two byes, and the final weekend of the regular season comes on December 12th. Then the Championship Game one week later like it is now.
We’ve still heard nothing on what happens with bowl games or the College Football Playoff, so who knows if this season turns out like the vast wasteland of the 1930s, which allowed Alabama to claim so many cantankerous fake national titles. If we don’t get a postseason, you could end up with multiple national champs if the voters do what they want.
It was going to be a weird year already, and now we could see something weird like the Iron Bowl in October, or even an Iron Bowl rematch in Atlanta. You could very well see two divisional foes meet in a rematch in the SEC Championship. There are going to be some first time occurrences in 2020, so get ready.
Terushima week day 6 college au!! This is based off of something that actually happened at a football game I went to in college! Soooo I have a lot explaining to do. At Mississippi State University there is a tradition of being gifted a cowbell. You can’t buy your own because it’s bad luck. Also the more creative cowbell the better. One more thing in the South we take football very seriously if you go to a MSU game you will see people in their Sunday’s best. People like me and Tsukkiyama on the other hand go for classic tee shirt and jeans. I’m sorry this picture is late for me, but I was forced into drawing Shirabu AGAIN because my sister is obsessed with him at the moment all because of @mitsouparker. I fully blame you for drawing wonderful shirabus and converting my sister to a shirabu lover.
Auburn-MSU 2018 could be worthy successor to 2008’s 3-2 game
Tumblr media
It’s the 10-year anniversary of one of the most ... memorable games in SEC history.
On Saturday evening, SEC West rivals Auburn and Mississippi State kick off for the 92nd time. The quarterback battle features two of the league’s most-regarded signal callers in Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham and MSU’s Nick Fitzgerald. The head coaches — AU’s Gus Malzahn and MSU’s Joe Moorhead — are two of college football’s most celebrated offensive minds.
Yet both offenses are somewhere between struggling and terrible at the moment. This part might sound familiar.
Auburn, for one, ranks 82nd in Off. S&P+.
They are averaging 33 points per game because of spectacular defense (first in Def. S&P+), sturdy special teams, and the fact that they put 63 points on Alabama State.
But the best they’ve averaged against an FBS team is 5.2 yards per play, which came in Week 1 against another fantastic defense in Washington. Since then: 5 yards per play against LSU, 3.9 against Arkansas, and 4.9 against Southern Miss.
The national average usually hovers around 5.7.
Auburn’s primary problems? Can’t establish the run at Auburn levels on standard downs, and can’t protect Stidham on passing downs.
That’s a bad combination. They are 94th in rushing marginal efficiency and 106th in passing-downs marginal efficiency. On blitz downs — extreme passing downs, if you will — they are 122nd. Mississippi State’s defense in those situations is fourth.
(You can find all sorts of stats like this in my team statistical profiles.)
The Bulldogs are a semi-healthy 41st in Off. S&P+, but that doesn’t tell much of the story.
They were fifth two weeks ago. They averaged 50 points per game and 8.5 yards per play against Stephen F. Austin, Kansas State, and UL-Lafayette (bad defenses, admittedly). It was a race against time to see if they could shore up their passing weaknesses before SEC defenses shut them down for being one-dimensional. They lost that race.
In the last two weeks, the Bulldogs have scored a total of 13 points. After averaging 588 yards per game in those first three contests, they gained a total of 403 against Kentucky and Florida. The Wildcats and Gators held Fitzgerald to a 47 percent completion rate and nine yards per completion.
And now the Bulldogs have to face an even better defense than UK’s or UF’s.
The offensive trends here are, in a word, unfavorable.
Auburn’s rebuilt line has not gained traction, and the Tigers’ running back corps, rebuilt around junior Kam Martin and a couple of freshmen (Boobie Whitlow and Shaun Shivers), hasn’t taken full advantage of chances it has had. On top of all this, Stidham is holding onto the ball too long in the face of a happy pass rush.
How bad is it for AU? Freshman kicker Anders Carlson has already been asked to attempt six field goals of 50 yards or longer. He’s made one.
For MSU, it does all appear to be about the pass. Good defenses dictate the reads a quarterback in an option-based system makes — Auburn is better at that than almost anyone — and there’s been no reason to fear Fitzgerald’s arm. So they pile extra defenders close to the line, dare Fitzgerald to beat them with his arm, then trot off the field when the punter comes on. His top four wideouts have a 43 percent catch rate. That doesn’t get it done.
Evidently history is too powerful to overcome sometimes. This is, after all, the 10-year anniversary of the 3-2 game.
For all of the brilliant offensive minds and exciting offensive prospects on the field in Starkville on Saturday, the draw of history has led them down a dark road.
youtube
Ten years ago, Auburn and MSU played one of the worst games in SEC history.
A year after their first bowl bid under head coach Sylvester Croom, MSU was fielding its worst offense under Croom, and that’s saying something. The Bulldogs would finish 116th in Off. S&P+, falling from 8-5 to 4-8.
Meanwhile, after falling from 27th in Off. S&P+ to 62nd the year before, Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville attempted to liven up his attack by bringing in Troy offensive coordinator Tony Franklin, an early no-huddle spread adopter. Only, the rest of the Auburn coaching staff didn’t adopt it. To put it kindly, Franklin met with some resistance. Auburn averaged 15 points per game in five SEC contests, and Franklin was fired midseason.
Bad offenses can produce bad football, but that doesn’t even begin to describe what happened.
In front of a crowd of 52,911, the Tigers and Bulldogs combined to average 3.4 yards per play. AU out-gained MSU by 199 yards but fumbled three times, losing all three. Auburn quarterback Chris Todd and MSU quarterback Wesley Carroll combined to go 24-for-51 for 232 yards with an interception and three sacks.
There were eight three-and-outs, three missed field goals (Auburn’s Wes Byrum missed a 22-yarder), and three turnovers on downs. MSU didn’t have the ball in Auburn territory until the third quarter, when the Bulldogs recovered a Todd fumble at the AU 32. They advanced the ball 11 yards and missed a field goal. They didn’t get on the board until Auburn committed a holding penalty in the end zone for a safety in the fourth quarter.
After the free kick, MSU went nine yards in four plays and got stuffed on a fourth-and-1 attempt. The Bulldogs got the ball back with 2:29 left and one last chance to win the game; Carroll threw a pick immediately.
If you watch enough college football, you end up seeing a lot of bad football. It just comes with the territory.
But the 2008 Auburn-MSU game was so bad that we still celebrate it 10 years later.
For as bad as both offenses are at the moment, they are still nowhere near 2008 (yet). And hey, don’t blame them for respecting history.
Whoa, are we eschewing most of the Big Ten for once? Yep.
Despite the fact that we’ve got up to three HUGE Big Ten games to choose from this week, there’s no way that we’re picking all of them because Crow and Chief might actually rebel and go to another blog.
Here are the games we are picking, though... enjoy!
STAFF PICKS - COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 9
Wisconsin @ Ohio State (-14) (O/U 50.5)
BWAAAAHAHAHAAHA! Poor Fox, they wanted to make this a super week of Sports. First the World Series, then the NFL tonight, then more WS and THEN!! Urban returns to the Shoe...too back the Fighting Illini ruined that deal! Ohio State will roll through this and it might not be pretty...I don’t think it will. Tree Seeds take this one hard! tOSU 42-20 and the over - Drew Mac
Speaking of rain, when it rains, it pours, Wisconsin. Ohio State by a lot. Ohio State 35, Wisconsin 21 - Josh Dub
Wisconsin tried to pull out just enough to win at Illinois and it back-fired. Maybe it was a letdown/look-ahead spot, but I think Ohio State does a number on this defense. They’ll hold the Buckeyes below their scoring average, and Taylor will keep things low scoring, but I think Ohio State covers late. Ohio State 31, Wisconsin 14 (OSU covers, UNDER) - James Jones
Well this thing sure looked fun this time last week. Now? Not so much. That being said, I don’t expect Ohio State to just walk all over Wisconsin because Wisconsin isn’t designed to get blown out. But 14 points is enough for me to think Ohio State covers, with the under. Ohio State 27 Wisconsin 14 - Josh Black
So this is why you crapped the bed last week Wisconsin. Looking ahead doesn’t tend to end well (and I hope another team does that this week, ahem LSU) Anyway, the Buckeyes continue to roll over teams and while Wisconsin’s defense has been great, they haven’t seen anything like Justin Fields and this Ohio State team. Bucks roll. Ohio State 41 Wisconsin 17 - Will McLaughlin
Oh Wiscy... You done got caught looking ahead haven’t ya? Well you better make it worth it. I could see this Badger D giving Justin Fields some trouble early but this Buckeye team is the best in the country for my money. It’s a low scoring battle early but a late turnover flips this & OSU covers late. OHST 28 UW 13 - AU Nerd
I think Ohio state is the most complete football team in the country. This will he closer than the experts think though. Bucks 31, Wisky 28 - Son of Crow
Two touchdowns? Man, I know that loss to Illinois was ugly, but that’s a lot of faith in Ohio State. If Wisconsin decides not to pussyfoot around and actually try to convert one of several 4th and shorts (instead of kicking short field goals), the Badgers win going away, and this is more like a 6-7 point line. That being said, Ohio State may be the best team in the country. We’ll learn a lot about them here, but I expect the Buckeyes to pull this one out. 31-24 Ohio State. - Ryan Sterritt
I know Ohio State has been good for one really terrible loss per year recently, but this won’t be it. There’s no way that Wisconsin keeps this game closer than 14 points in the second half. The Buckeyes will get up early, defense shuts down Jonathan Taylor enough to where the Badgers can’t drive, and people are even higher on OSU after this win. Buckeyes 34-16 - Jack Condon
SMU (-13) @ Houston (O/U 66.5)
Houston has been playing better but there is something about this Ponies team. I don’t think they will cover cause that’s a good number of points to lay on the road but SMU will get the W, again. SMU 42-35 and the over - Drew Mac
Lashlee forever! SMU 42, Houston 17 - Josh Dub
SMU has been excellent this year, and Houston is pseudo-tanking, but I don’t know about covering 13 on the road on a weeknight. SMU 38, Houston 31 (SMU wins, Houston covers, OVER) - James Jones
How ‘bout them Ponies? I couldn’t be happier for Rhett Lashlee, who is a great football coach and a better person. Houston is tanking 2019 and building to 2020. This SMU roster is loaded for this year to be their year. SMU 41 Houston 28 - Josh Black
The Ponies continue their undefeated season as College Football in Dallas is alive and well! Good for Rhett Lashlee to land at a program that is having as much success as it has. I watched the end of their massive comeback and Triple OT win against Tulsa a few weeks ago. As for Houston, they fired Major Applewhite because he couldn’t do better than 8-4. Well.... this year so far they are 3-4 and a mess off the field as well. Players have been asked to redshirt, including their starting QB, and Dana Holgorsen hasn’t exactly made the best first impression. Pony Up! SMU 48 Houston 23 - Will McLaughlin
Auburn should really consider bringing in this young hotshot OC to add some flair to Auburn’s offense next season.... SMU 45 HOU 21 - AU Nerd
Ponies. The Dallas jerseys are the best new Uniform in football. Smu 42, UH 20 - Son of Crow
I enjoy that there was almost assuredly a conversation about moving this game to a week night where someone proposed this be slotted in on Friday, and that person immediately being shouted down as a total idiot, because you don’t schedule anything besides high school football in Texas on a Friday night. Anyways, I like the Ponies to continue their undefeated run against the team who’s redshirting their star quarterback and playing the coaches son. 42-28 SMU. - Ryan Sterritt
SMU. 35-27. - AU Chief
I thought about watching the Pony Excess 30 for 30 the other day, and then probably watched The Fugitive (I DIDN’T KILL MY WIFE) or something like that instead. It’s a sign. There won’t be a downfall this weekend. Ponies, large. 45-24. - Jack Condon
Mississippi State @ Texas A&M (-10) (O/U 50.5)
Lord, has there been a team to fall flatter than Moo? And Rutgers wants Moorehead? If I’m a State fan, I offer to pay for the moving company. At least they figured out who the better starting QB finally was. On the other side in the Futility Bowl this year, A&M brings....well... Jimbo Fisher to the game...that’s about the only positive (and I don’t know if its positive really) I see to their team this year. I will say A&M covers but its 51/49 that it will actually happen. I just trust them a touch more than I do State...and that’s saying a lot. A&M wins and covers, 28-17 and the under - Drew Mac
Mississippi State might be a dumpster fire. Texas A&M 35, Miss St 10 - Josh Dub
MSU has finally pushed its chips on Shrader. I think he could cause A&M some trouble here. Neither team moves particularly fast, so this one should be low scoring. When opportunities are minimized, take the dog and the under. Texas A&M 23, MSU 17 (A&M wins, MSU covers, UNDER) - James Jones
Kellen Mond is not a good enough quarterback for A&M to be relevant in the SEC. Joe Moorhead is not a good enough coach for Mississippi State to be a 4-loss football team. Texas A&M 27 Mississippi State 14 - Josh Black
Great job Bulldogs, you finally started the better Quarterback. Things are bad in Starkville and I feel like it would be best for Joe Moorhead and the school to part ways after the year (Rutgers wants him badly). They face another team who has disappointed many this year in College Station. Can you imagine how bad of a loss this would be for ole Jimbo? I don’t think it will happen but you never know which Aggies team will show up. Texas A&M 21 Mississippi State 14 - Will McLaughlin
A&M tried their darndest to go on the road & lose to Ole Miss but no one out Rebels the Rebels. Mississippi State showed some early fight against LSU but just aren’t a good enough squad to string together consistent solid quarters of football. For A&M, their season really begins now. They still have UGA & LSU on the schedule but they have some time to build momentum for that wild finish. I think it’s tight early but Shrader throws a 4th qtr pick to swing this into the home team’s favor. Aggie 31 State 20 - AU Nerd
My gut tells me Aggy is going to get right in this game. And that MSU might have some quit sneaking up in them. Aggy 35, MSU 20 - Son of Crow
Ah yes, the battle of the two most disappointed fan bases in the SEC. I’m assuming this is a game that State is not playing it’s suspended players, but don’t quote me on that. I think I like Kellen Mond to have one of his good games here against a Bulldog defense that’s lost four out of five. Here’s food for thought - if State loses this game, they’ll almost assuredly be playing the Egg Bowl with bowl eligibility on the line. Not good for Moorhead in year 2. 31-17 A&M - Ryan Sterritt
I’m not sure if either of these teams are really any good. I’m sure that Mississippi State really isn’t any good. Jimbo’s gonna be reelin’ ‘em in on Saturday, and Joe Moorhead will start to see that maybe New Jersey is a better locale than Starkville (pay attention, Ryan). A&M in an easy one, 38-21. - Jack Condon
Arkansas @ Alabama (-32.5) (O/U 56.5)
The only thing that makes this one watchable is that Tua won’t see the field. uat 45 (because uat can’t kick field goals) -10 and the under - Drew Mac
What if Mac Jones has been better than Tua this whole time? Alabama 63, Arkansas 27 - Josh Dub
This line is dropping like a rock with Tua out. Arkansas is just awful, but I have a feeling Alabama just gets to a 3 score lead and works on their running game. I don’t see Arkansas scoring more in Tuscaloosa than they did against us in Fayettenam. Alabama 41, Arkansas 10 (Alabama wins, Arkansas covers, UNDER) - James Jones
Sure is tempting to take the under here with Tua being out. But with a week of getting timing down, Mac Jones shows enough to push the cover and over here. Alabama 48 Arkansas 10 - Josh Black
The preseason ends for Alabama this weekend (finally). The combined record of Alabama’s first 7 opponents: 20-30, and if you add Arkansas to the equation, the Tide’s 1st 8 opponents have a combined 22-35 record. As for Auburn’s first 7 opponents: 30-20 and including LSU Saturday, 37-20. That’s a 15 GAME DIFFERENCE! It was evident last week the drop-off from Tua to their backup QB, Mac Jones. Alabama looked vulnerable and Tennessee had many chances to make that game really really interesting. But nonetheless, a 14 point swing on a 4th and Goal play at the 1 put the end to those chances and Alabama beat Tennessee yet again. Arkansas, as we saw last week, is bad. This should be a game Alabama wins handily but if they don’t, I may actually pick LSU to win in a couple weeks in Tuscaloosa, especially if Tua’s health is still in question. Alabama 41 Arkansas 10 - Will McLaughlin
This would be downright hilarious if Bama botched this game without Tua. But that would also mean the end of the world so we wouldn’t get very long to enjoy it. Mac Jones “throws” three 60+ yard TDs by hitting that insane WR corps on three quick slants. Arkansas offense continues its ineptness though Rakeem Boyd gets 100 on the ground running right at that bammer D which irritates the little man. Bama 49 ARK 14 - AU Nerd
Alabama will have to utilize its stud runningbacks and o-line in this game. I don’t pity them one bit. Tide 51, Hogs 10 - Son of Crow
Yeah, no Tua, so I’m sure the gameplan here will be ultra vanilla. Like Bama hearkening back to the pre-Kiffin/current-UGA-playbook kind of vanilla. But... Arkansas is real bad. I’m gonna have to take the under because I can see Saban just choking the life out of the clock in the first quarter, but I think they can still cover by accident. 41-6 Tide.
P.S. I really hope Arkansas tries some other fake punt in this game and it works. - Ryan Sterritt
I mean, it took Nick Saban all of 2017 to figure out that using Tua was the right move. Maybe he’s just not a good coach. Maybe Mac Jones is going to win a Heisman only playing half the season. Playing Arkansas is a good way to start. Bama easy, Najee goes nuts. 49-14. - Jack Condon
South Carolina (-4.5) @ Tennessee (O/U 47)
This one will be fun and the SEC game I will watch outside of Auburn-LSU. Tennessee has been playing better and, if you didn’t know, South Carolina beat Georgia two weeks ago. Yeah, that really did happen, Will Muschamp beat Kirby Smart....IN ATHENS! I will be watching to see if Florida broke the Gamecocks though cause last week was close until the Gators put 2 scores up and then boom, done. Tennessee had opportunities to fight uat and did for a bit but didn’t realize you have to play the refs in Tuscaloosa as well and then tried to leap over on a QB sneak and then it was baseball time for me that Saturday night. I think Carolina wins this one but this is a complete toss up to me. Carolina wins and covers 24-17 and the under - Drew Mac
Vols take a big step towards bowl eligibility. Tennessee 21, South Carolina 17 - Josh Dub
‘Member that time Will Muschamp lost to Tennessee a head coach? No you don’t. It’s never happened. I will not watch this game. It will be bad football. South Carolina 24, Tennessee 13. (Gamecocks cover, UNDER) - James Jones
Will Muschamp has never lost to Tennessee. This game will be near unwatchable, but Carolina is the better team and is absolutely more than capable of covering. South Carolina 21 Tennessee 13 - Josh Black
This is a game I didn’t expect to be picking but it’s a pretty big one for bowl eligibility purposes. Weird saying that for a 2-5 Tennessee team but they’ve made some progress, especially in the last 2 weeks. They’ve got UAB and Missouri still on the schedule along with Kentucky and Vandy so the Vols HAVE to get this one. Meanwhile, the same can be said for South Carolina in their efforts the last 2 weeks and they could have easily knocked off Florida last week to double down on major upsets, but there were some very questionable no-calls in that one that directly costed the Roosters 14 points in an 11-point game. This one for me is honestly a toss-up, if I knew which Tennessee QB was playing, it would make my decision easier but picking the Roosters has not gone well for me so Im going with the Vols at home. Tennessee 23 South Carolina 20 - Will McLaughlin
I recommend not watching this game. Seriously... It’s gonna be very ugly but not in like the fun, humorous way. If Brian Maurer was 100%, I think I would pick the Vols to pull the upset. But he won’t be a go. Cocks play just slightly less ugly than the Vols. SCAR 27 TEN 20 - AU Nerd
Yeesh this one is gross. I wouldn’t watch this game if I was paid to do it. Scar 17, Tenn 14 - Son of Crow
I’ll admit, I had left South Carolina for dead before the season, and especially so after losing to UNC in the opening week. They’re still only sitting at 3-4, but after beating UGA two weeks ago, they kinda hung with Florida last week? They may not be a good team, but they may be more aggressively average than I thought. In fact, Muschamp could still get this team to 7-5 this year, which would be a miracle with that roster and schedule. He’s also never lost to Tennessee. But when you put your trust in Muschamp, bad things happen (hey Survivor Pool!). I’ll hesitantly say the Cocks win this one, but I don’t like it. 21-17 USC. - Ryan Sterritt
Tennessee emptied the tank last week against Alabama. South Carolina probably feels like they left something on the field against Florida. Gamecocks. 28-20. - Jack Condon
Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports
What does a road loss to a top ten team mean?
Auburn fell on the road to a top ten team yesterday, and was in it for nearly the entire time. A couple big plays allowed, four turnovers, and a rough offensive effort doomed the Tigers as they lost 24-13. They’re now 5-1 midway through the season. Would we have taken that if offered preseason? Probably. So what do we think about all of this?
SNAP JUDGMENTS
Honestly, this game reminds me of the Miss State game in Starkville last year. Auburn had plenty of opportunities to win this game. Bo was rattled from Play 1 and played like a true freshman today. It happens!!! Remember he’s a TRUE FRESHMAN! Bo will learn from this game and get better. The defense did all they could but ran out of gas because the offense couldn’t stay on the field. Derrick Brown was on another planet today! I know Auburn fans are pissed but it’s 1 game. Lot of football left to be played and now they’ll have 2 weeks to get right for Arkansas. Don’t let 1 loss turn into 2 like last year.
-Will McLaughlin
I don’t believe this game or performance means anything outside of this game. This doesn’t mean Aggy sucks or MSU sucks. It just means on October 5, in Gainesville, Auburn was worse than Florida at football. It doesn’t mean we are going to lose to Alabama or Georgia. It doesn’t mean Bo nix should get benched. It means that today we lost to Florida. That sucks enough. Let’s not make it bigger than that.
-Son of Crow
I’ll co-sign what Crow said. Rough game today. We didn’t play well enough to win. So it goes. Obviously I hoped for better, but that was a tough place to play. We made it harder on ourselves with mistakes and turnovers. The margin of error is gone.
Lost in all this is one of the best games ever by Derrick Brown. He played well enough to win today.
-James Jones
About as bad if an offensive performance as we’ve seen. 2-14 on 3rd down will get you beat every single time. We’ve seen Gus coached teams have these same kind of performances in Baton Rogue over the years and bounce back afterwards. That said, we still have to go to Baton Rogue this year. Would I trade this loss for a win in Red Stick? You are damn right I would. But every single one of Auburn’s deficiencies were highlighted today, and the recipe for our demise is now out on the open market. Let’s hope everyone involved from the coaches to the Quarterback can take this film and learn from it and go on a run from not through January.
-AU Chief
Gus Malzahn didn’t have his offense ready to play today. Tigers were a mess out the gate. When they finally got something going, Bo Nix couldn’t cash in. By far his worst game this season. Up until this point he’s been doing a great job of managing the game. He might not have always been perfect but he wasn’t losing the game for the Tigers. That changed today. But while I am disappointed in his performance, I don’t think it’s fair to levy full fault on his shoulders. Fact that AU couldn’t count on their all senior OL to consistently open holes in the run game but instead but it all on the arm of a true freshman is telling. In the end though, it comes back to Gus Malzahn. It’s his offense. He got the credit he deserved for an outstanding game plan two weeks ago. He’s gonna get criticism this week that’s well deserved too.
I hate it most for this defense. Yes, they gave up two HRs you wished they didn’t but they also gave the offense the ball 4 times. Derrick Brown is one of the greatest AU players to don the orange & blue. They deserve better from their head coach. Two weeks now to regroup & find answers. This loss doesn’t doom all hope for the future but it does dampen it some. No matter what though it’s War Damn Eagle
-AU Nerd
It was disgustingly hot outside, but everyone had a great time. The bride and groom were beautiful and the wedding was a perfect reflection of them. They’re hitched, and even though I spent 4 hours 7 hours in a suit outside, it was a great day. My wedding streak is over, though.
-Ryan Sterritt
Auburn played a really poor game of football and nearly beat a top 10 team on the road. We’re watching our true freshmen quarterback grow up right before our eyes. Unfortunately he had to do it in front of 90,000 hostile fans with crazy blitz packages.
I hate this for Derrick Brown. I can’t recall a better performance than the one he gave us today.
If there’s a silver lining here, it’s that Auburn totally controls their own destiny from this point onwards.
The bye week couldn’t come at a better time. Take the week off, heal up, beat the crap out of the Hogs, then get ready for LSU.
-Josh Dub
Well, Bo Nix is a true freshman. This offensive line has a ceiling. Gus Malzahn is still Gus Malzahn (good and bad). What a weird game. Florida had 3 touchdown drives that were a total of 5 plays. Auburn’s offense left roughly 21 points on the field today. Frustrating as this loss is, this is not Tennessee or Mississippi State from a year ago. Not a lot of failures from today are things that you can’t correct, and I’m sure that when the staff/players see the film, it’ll make them sick. Auburn has dictated the outcome in 6 straight games. They’ll dictate the outcome in a 7th in two weeks in Fayetteville. Then comes the hellacious fury of Baton Rouge. I was telling folks prior to this game that I thought this team was a 10-2 football team with losses to LSU and Alabama. My gut tells me we’re a 9-3 team with a win over Georgia. If not, we’re no worse than 8-4. As disappointing as that feels, with this schedule, it’s not unexpected. But this team can surprise us, and the big 3 we have left on our schedule. They fought hard today and just couldn’t execute. No blame on Nix/Gus/defense today. The team lost. And it’s a team I think we’ll continue to find a lot of reasons to hang in there with until the end.
-Josh Black
Looking back, maybe we should have seen this coming. Gus wasn’t his sassy pre-MSU self this week, but much more guarded and quiet and we really didn’t hear much about how big of an opportunity this was. The first couple of plays on both sides really did tell the tale. Florida’s defense was fired up, and our defense may have been a little distracted by the atmosphere. The defense settled in, and played fantastic (short of the two long plays), but the offense never did. Our scoring drives were short and only came when we had good field position to start. On the actual best drive of the day — the one that started at our own 4-yard line — it ended in an interception. Yes, much of the blame can be placed on the inaccuracies of Bo Nix’s arm yesterday, but that’s what you get when you start a true freshman. I don’t fault him for not being able to handle the Swamp.
On the positive side, Derrick Brown will be an All-American and should win the Outland Trophy. He’s the best defensive tackle in the country, and he’s getting more disruptive as the season goes along. Our defense forced the turnovers that we haven’t seen yet, and they stepped up in huge situations. The offense was given every opportunity to succeed, but the miscommunications and poor blocking in all aspects was frustrating to see. Sometimes you just don’t execute.
I think we need the week off, and I think we’ll benefit from the time away. Regroup, destroy Arkansas, and let’s make a miracle happen in Baton Rouge.
-Jack Condon
