Exploring African Culinary Excellence in Paris: A Taste of Tradition and Innovation
A Culinary Journey: The Essence of African Flavors in Paris In the minimalist dining room of MoSuke, a renowned restaurant nestled on Paris’s Left Bank, a striking black sauce elegantly fills the hollow of a pristine white plate. This depth of color and flavor originates from a remarkable tree found nearly 3,000 miles away in the lush rainforests of Cameroon: Afrostyrax lepidophyllus. Every part…

MoSuke Restaurant, Paris, 12/1/23
exterior – 11 Rue Raymond Losserand, 75014 Paris, France MoSuke served a cuisine that combines west and central African dishes with French and Japanese twists. Chef Mory Sacko won France’s first Michelin star for African cuisine at just 28 years of age. That was 2 years ago and since then he has competed on France’s Top Chef TV cooking show during the Covid lockdown. The unassuming exterior…

Amidamaru propaganda:
"He is an ancient deceased samurai, and the spiritual partner to the main character, Yoh."
"Amidamaru is the coolest ghost in the whole serie (I haven't read the whole serie, oops)! His story is that 600 years he was a samurai and his blacksmith friend (Mosuke) made a legendary katana for him. But the emperor thought that such an incredible weapon must not be replicated, and so Mosuke had to die by Amidamaru's hands.
Amidamaru refused and plotted with Mosuke to run away, but the emperor's soldiers caught Mosuke and killed him. They then went on to kill Amidamaru who was at the rendez-vous point. Amidamaru refused ro surrender as he had made a promise to wait for Mosuke and fought (and killed) all 1000 soldiers before dying from exhaustion.
But even then his spirit refused to pass on, because he was still waiting for Mosuke ;-;
And he's been waiting in the same spot for 600 years until Yo Asakura, a shaman, helped reunite with Mosuke's spirit, finally bringing him peace
Amidamaru then became Yo's friend and partner and also his body guard (his friendship with Yo is so awesome ;-;)
That is to say: this boi is loyal ✨"

HI – I am finally watching Shaman King 2021!
The 2001 anime consumed my head and my heart (many a Maths lesson was spent discussing what had happened in Last Night’s Episode), so I’m happy to be diving in at last!
I’m grouping my rambles for convenience. Here are some squiggly thoughts on Episodes 1-9!
Episode 1
Ep 1 of Shaman King and I'm getting emotional – the way Anna and Yoh go up against Hao in the opening sent a chill down my spine! And wow, they didn't waste any time establishing the twin connection, huh?
There's definitely a lot packed into Episode 1, which means that it goes super fast but hey, that's fine!
It will take me a while to get used to the voices because I love and adore the 4 Kids dub – but I'm watching this subbed and having fun so far!
Episode 2
AMIDAMARU IS ADORABLE.
SHAMAN KING is one massive eco message and I loooove iiiiiit! Having Ren spend all that time staring up at the stars rambling on about air pollution… you tell ’em!
Episode 3
Phew, the bit in the Lee Pyron episode where he starts crying... that takes me back… (Though I think they missed a trick here by sticking with ‘Lee Pyron’ in the dub; ‘Lee Pai-Long’ made a lot more sense to me, back in the day.)
Anna literally slapping sense into everyone, including Jun fhdjdn
AND WATCHING HER USE THE BEADS GAVE ME CHILLS YAHHH!!
Episode 4
Episode 4 is my favourite so far – the introduction of Tokageroh! There was a proper laugh-out-loud moment as well as plenty of action... though I have to ask how in the world baby!Mosuke was making swords, lol. Him and what resources? The knife from his father? Gosh.
Tokageroh’s backstory was delivered pretty quickly… I also appreciated Ren in this episode.
I wish that the English dub had stuck with 4Kids’ term ‘sacred hang’ – that had so much flavour. Ryu talking about a ‘happy place’ doesn’t really have the same pizazz.
However! Amidamaru referring to Yoh as ‘Lord Yoh’? Amazing. Splendid. Beautiful. I believe it was ‘Master Yoh’ back in the 2001 days.
Episode 5
SCREAMS
THIS
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE ONE
First of all, starting off with Ryu was cute! Though I don’t understand how Anna summoned Mosuke to fix Harusame considering that he's dead dead (having passed on at all), but hey, I think we'll have to let it slide…
SILVA IS HERE! I had to skip back and watch most of the episode in English because hi, DAN GREEN, HI. He was so great and I just felt so happy hearing his voice again after all this time~ it helps that Silva is an AMAZING character and so much fun!
I cracked when Yoh lobbed Amidamaru like a baseball and tfjfj the bit where Amidamaru's spirit nearly ascends is so good –
I actually squealed when Over Soul started playing, sheesh. Oh well. It wasn’t too late, so I’m sure my neighbours were fine.
And man, Ren is such a lil creep at this point... The Tao family give off serious Zoldyck vibes, tbh.
(Shaman King 2021 is still super fast and I think it’s okay for people who’ve got 2001 or the manga as a baseline, but if I were completely new to the IP, I would be LOST.)
Episode 6
Horohoro is so cute.
That’s pretty much all I have to say!
Episode 7
Faust the VIII is a FREAK what the hell!
At this point, I’m flip-flopping between the sub and the dub based on whether it’s a Silva screen or not dndjkd but Faust sharing a seiyuu with Saurtobi Sasuke (from Sengoku BASARA!!) is making that complicated!
THIS EP IS FULL OF TWISTS AND TURNS
YOH LOSING
REN COMING TO THE RESCUE WITH "I DRINK THREE GLASSES OF MILK A DAY"?
SILVA'S COOL SPEECHES
AMIDAMARU INSPIRING YOH AND ANNA GETTING JELLY –
Also, the soundtrack is perfeeect for Shaman King I loooove it
Episode 8
Manta comes from money?? I don’t remember all of that stuff with his family from 2001 at ALL.
Also, the funny thought of Ryu going to America to train as a sushi chef like... surely it would be more prudent to stay in Japan? lol
I'm pretty sure Amidamaru uses "de gozaru" when he speaks, which is super cute
This episode introduces Tamao! I think she might be a little younger than Yoh and Anna (11?). Ponchi and Conchi were absolutely vile which was definitely, definitely left out of the dub.
I feel like we could have had more of Yoh's struggle in Yomi Cave, for sure, but that’s 2021's breakneck pacing again! Also, I really have to question the tournament format considering that something like 10 days have passed since Yoh's loss to Faust – there wasn’t any mention of how long the qualifiers would last. I love tournaments in anime, but they MUST be well structured!! Or I get mad!!
Bason is adorable...... Also, I completely forgot that Ren disdains the Tao family? What a dweeby child. I love him.
How is it that Tamao has an Over Soul but Yoh didn't even know what it was called nfjfjd Just HOW slack was Yoh in his training??
Episode 9
YOH'S REMATCH AGAINST REEEN
THE HORSES ARE COOL
I love how much this episode focused on Yoh saying things like, “I'm not going to force myself" djdj I wish he was the shounen protag whose example I'd followed… Yoh says such important things about not working to death that many of his peers could listen to! And me too sigh sighs
Once again, the timeline is whack – the preliminaries are over but Ren’s only had two battles? Huh??

Ships I started shipping in 2022- a list (won’t include all of them just ones I can think of):
Cavendish/Dakota (Milo Murphy’s Law): Cute. Gay. Time travelers. What more could I want. A solid 8/10 just because- unfortunately- pretty small fandom and a show that is only two seasons
Mary Saotome/Tsuzura Hanatemari (Kakegurui Twin): Minus points just cause I completely forgot Tsuzura’s name and had to look it up. But points even out because THE END SCENE THAT IS HER FANTASYING A WEDDING. 7/10, can’t wait to see more of this spin off show :))
Amidamaru/Mosuke (Shaman king): Little bit of cheating because I originally got into Shaman King when I was much younger- but because of the reboot I’m counting this. A classic- characters who were always together, died, are spirits who can’t rest on without each other, etc. sadly I wish there was more of them (together) as a thing. 7/10
Amber Park/Ricky “Jupe” Park (Nope 2022): I mean… did you really think I wouldn’t add these two? First off they are Red/Blue couple- secondly their outfits slay- thirdly I’m actually shipping a canon ship (shocking). Yes I’ve contributed a considerable amount to their ao3 tag… no I don’t have problems. Yes I plan on making more 10/10 will ship again
Angel Torres/Otis Junior(OJ) (Nope 2022): I unfortunately have not made anything specifically shippy with them but have also enjoyed this pairing from just a “ah I have read things on this and enjoy”. They have cute moments together- I love them both platonic and romantic. Can’t go wrong with them 8/10
(For the sake of this list being a bunch of Nope ships I will not add more- but please not I do have more~)
Lee Jongsu/Kim Ben (Burning): The tension so fucking palatable. Hand in unlovable hand. More people need to watch this movie. It has the curse of No fanfictions and no recognition. 9/10
Dave Lister/Arnold Rimmer (Red Dwarf): THIS! SO MUCH!! JUST!! YES!! Okay- stuck together (check). Pretend to hate each other but care deeply for one another (check). Have a kiss scene- that was a dream BUT was a kiss scene- (check). Firstly an amazing show and secondly an amazing ship 10/10
Rick Grimes/Glenn Rhee (The Walking Dead-show): Ready to get crucified for this but Glenn is (so far) my bicycle and so I can’t not ship him with the main character. Maybe my opinions will change but for now I enjoy them greatly. Once again- rarepair and so they have almost no content. 7/10
That’s all for now- I definitely have more- hope y’all enjoyed~

Fandom: Shaman King
Characters: Manta
Word Count: 1252
Summary: An exploration of 3000 Leagues to Funbari Hill
There's a particular coldness to the air even though it's still summer. There's a gloom that hangs over the city painting everything gray even as the sun shines brightly in the sky. For the first time ever, Manta is lonely. He's really, truly, lonely.
He was lonely before Yoh walked into his life but he had never noticed. He had never bothered to pay attention to it. He had friends, or well people he called friends, and he was so busy with school there was no time to be lonely, except that had all been a lie to himself.
He just didn't know he was lonely until Yoh walked into his life and painted over all the grays with color.
As soon as he ran into Yoh and started seeing spirits there was no turning back. Life was vibrant. Life was fun. School didn't really matter because there was so much to do outside of it.
Then the fight with Faust happened, but Manta refused to accept that loneliness. He refused to let the gray back into his life. He fought tooth and nail for his friend and it paid off. Turns out they are both bad at this whole friend thing not having any real practice before hand.
Now though, now it's different. They're still friends, they'll always be friends, but now Yoh has gone where Manta can't follow. Manta's left behind because while he can see spirits he's no Shaman. He has no place in the Shaman Fight. He has no place following Yoh even if his father has all the money in the world.
Funbari becomes gray.
The shrine they'd offer their prayers too in the past becomes empty. The people there fade from existence. Only Manta. It's like he's the ghost now. It's like a part of him died when Yoh left. Maybe he's the wandering restless spirit waiting for Yoh to come and soothe his soul so he can rest in peace.
The ice cream shop they ate at before Yoh dashed into a burning building to save the children trapped inside holds no sweetness. The ice cream cone he orders halfheartedly tastes bland in his mouth. There's no sweetness, only cold
Aoki Records holds no Soul Bob. It's never held Soul Bob. Yoh's the only person interested in the music and it was special ordered for him every time. Manta just wants to see the familiar cover art. He just wants to listens to the one artist Yoh's so passionate about.
He doesn't ask the cashier to order him a Soul Bob album. Part of him questions if Soul Bob even exists or if this is all made up in Manta's head. Maybe he's in a coma. Maybe he never truly recovered from Faust and now everyone's given up on him. No one is sitting by his bed side whispering words to him and painting his world.
He pinches himself and feels the sting. This is all real, unless the fact you can't feel things in your dreams is a lie too.
He legs take him to the cemetery next. The cemetery where everything started. The cemetery where Yoh loves to cloud watch and star gaze. It's empty which should be normal except it's not. It's empty of all it's inhabitants. No ghosts jump out to great him. Even if they were all resting, Okita never misses a chance to regal his story about fighting a bear. He's always drunk and he always forgets to leave out the part where he lost and the bear took his life. Instead every time he tells the story he's the winner. He still doesn't pass on though because deep down he knows the words that fall from his mouth are lies. Yoh says it's impossible to find the spirit of the bear. He says Okita will be stuck like this until he can accept his death. Yoh also speculates that will never happen because even in death the spirit is never sober.
He looks at Amidamaru's new memorial marker and at least that is real. At least in all the gray and damp chill this can never be taken away. Yoh's lucky he has Amidamaru with him. He's lucky he has everyone with him. Manta selfishly wishes Mosuke had stayed behind. Then Manta could have someone. Then Manta could know and remember this is all real.
He offers a prayer before he leaves. He doesn't know why. Maybe Amidamaru can hear him wherever he is. It's been one day and Manta is so lonely. He doesn't know how many more day's it will be.
Something whispers back on the wind
Three months
Manta's heart shatters.
–
His mansion is big and lonely. It's only him and Tamarazaki here. Maybe he should have followed his father's wishes. Maybe he should have gone to study in America. Manta shakes his head no. That would have been even worse. That would have been even more lonely.
His bed dwarfs him and provides no comfort. There's no warmth under the blankets just the chill of the air conditioner running. Manta swears it's colder than the thermostat claims.
He turns on the TV in his room for anything. Any static to drown out the nothingness and emptiness. He's not watching it. He's just floating like he's been floating all day.
A flash of blue catches his eyes and a split off dual pompadour. Manta scrambles up right in his bed, eyes blinking rapidly but the image doesn't disappear.
There's no words to describe it. It's the impossible. There's no way he should be seeing this yet something somewhere answered his prayer. There's color. There's life. There's Horohoro and Ryu. They've already got into a commotion on the first day based off Ryu's hair but they are alive and safe. They are stuffing their mouths in some food eating competition and Manta can only laugh.
Ren's in the background arms crossed and a glare that could give Anna run for her money. Manta's wiping away a tear because all of this would happen.
And there, beside Ren, is Yoh. He's waving and has the biggest grin on his face. Manta swears for a moment their eyes meet. For a moment Yoh can see him and that smile and wave is for Manta only. Manta knows he's crying as he waves back but he doesn't care. He misses his best friend. He misses spending every day with him. It's only one day and Manta's already such a baby about it except he's not a baby. Yoh may never come back and that scares him the most
The feed ends with Horohoro managing to bump into the camera terminating the signal.
It's alright though. Everything is real again. Manta can feel the warmth of his bed. He'll pray at Amidamaru's grave every day if that's what allows the magic of his TV. Someone somewhere is listening to Manta. Some divine being somewhere is smiling down on him.
A few days later Anna tracks him down. A few days later he's on his way to America to see Yoh.
“You two are really bad at being apart,” Anna comments, offhandedly when they see each other.
“Not like you're any better,” Manta fires back.
Tamao stifles a gasp, but Manta knows neither of them look good. Neither of them will look good until Yoh is alive and well in front of them. He's the color in their world, and his absence makes everything so drab.
#shaman king#manta oyamada#because of the timing I want to clarify this is not my zine piece#but it was something I drafted as a possible zine piece#and have just been sitting on it since like september

Today I thought I'd do a little searching for more details about Kitano Takeshi's "Kubi" film, and I was a little surprised to see that they'd put up a very detailed summary of the movie plot on the official website. Maybe it's because this movie is more of a spectacle experience rather than a plot-based movie so giving away the plot is not a big deal.
I also found that this movie Premiered in the Cannes, which was fascinating.
"Kubi", the title of this movie, literally translates to "neck", but in samurai terminology this refers to the enemy's severed heads that the samurai take in battlefields as proof of their deeds. Kitano Takeshi originally wrote the plot as a novel, which was published in 2019, and then he has now went ahead and adapted it as a movie himself.
Interestingly, Araki Murashige was something of the centre point of the drama. I'd noticed that there were scenes involving him in the trailer, but I didn't know he would be that important to the plot.
Kitano said that this project came to be because he thought that modern day Sengoku movies and dramas are too "clean" and doesn't show enough of the darkness of human hearts and all the nasty things people are willing to dirty their hands with. He also thought that no matter which Honnouji conspiracy theory you run with, he cannot help but think that Hideyoshi must have done really underhanded things in the background, and so he created this story.
So I suppose I'm meant to expect that this is more about feelings and drama, and not a fact-conscious kind of movie.
I will place the summary behind a cut in case anyone might be hoping to watch this movie and don't want to be spoiled. I mean, the summary is right there, but it's in Japanese and English readers are less likely to just stumble across it by mistake. I will also post my comments on this separately, because this post is getting huge. I try not to make huge posts because of the Tumblr format.
Maybe I really should invest on a Wordpress blog too, to better accommodate longer posts.
The story begins with Araki Murashige rebelling and disappearing in the midst of Nobunaga's conquests. Enraged, Nobunaga declares war on the Araki, promising that whoever performed the best in this campaign will become Nobunaga's successor.
Hideyoshi devised a plot involving sending a former ninja (now an entertainer) named Shinzaemon to capture Araki, and delivering Araki to Mitsuhide in order to "set a trap" for Nobunaga and Mitsuhide instead of claiming the promised prize himself.
Mitsuhide ended up being unable to deliver Araki to his death, and hid him. Meanwhile, Shinzaemon encounters a peasant with aspirations to rise to become a daimyou, and they end up teaming up (the peasant's name is 難波茂助, which, to my understanding is read "Nanba Mosuke", but I'm not 100% sure).
Nobunaga eventually becomes impatient and suspects that Ieyasu is hiding Araki. He then orders Mitsuhide to assassinate Ieyasu by luring him into a trap at Honnouji. Mitsuhide, through conflicted feelings, had a conversation with Araki and came to the decision to turn against his lord instead. Hideyoshi, on his part, has decided to utilise this Ieyasu situation to become the new conqueror.
The clock ticks down to Honnouji...

Unlock Radiant Beauty: A Comprehensive Skin Care Routine for Oily Skin Indian
Introduction:
Embarking on a journey to flawless skin often requires a tailored approach, especially when dealing with oily skin in the diverse and vibrant climate of India. A dedicated skincare routine can be your secret weapon against excess oil, acne, and blemishes. In this guide, we'll delve into an effective skincare routine for those with oily skin, taking into account the unique conditions faced by individuals in the Indian subcontinent.
Understanding Oily Skin:
Oily skin is characterized by overactive sebaceous glands, leading to an excess production of sebum. For Indians, factors such as humidity, pollution, and sun exposure further contribute to the challenges faced by those with oily skin. To address these concerns, a well-rounded skincare routine becomes crucial.
Cleansing with Precision: To kickstart your skincare routine, opt for a gentle yet effective cleanser. Look for formulations containing keywords like neem, tea tree oil, or salicylic acid. These ingredients have natural antibacterial properties and help control excess oil without stripping the skin of its essential moisture.
Exfoliation Essentials: Incorporate exfoliation into your routine, focusing on products that contain alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). These ingredients aid in removing dead skin cells, unclogging pores, and controlling oil production. Be cautious not to over-exfoliate, as this may lead to irritation.
Hydration Matters: Contrary to popular belief, even oily skin requires adequate hydration. Opt for a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer that includes hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid. This step ensures that your skin maintains its natural moisture balance, preventing it from overproducing oil to compensate for dehydration.
Sun Protection is Non-Negotiable: The Indian climate demands year-round sun protection, especially for oily skin. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Lightweight, gel-based formulations are ideal for preventing breakouts and shine, ensuring your skin stays protected without feeling heavy.
Targeted Treatments for Troublesome Areas: Consider incorporating spot treatments or serums with ingredients like niacinamide or retinol to address specific skin concerns such as acne scars, pigmentation, or fine lines. These targeted treatments can be applied in moderation to trouble spots, providing concentrated benefits without exacerbating oiliness.
Weekly Pampering with Face Masks: Treat your skin to a weekly mask designed for oily skin. Ingredients like clay, charcoal, or multani mitti can help absorb excess oil and impurities, leaving your skin refreshed and revitalized.
Conclusion:
Crafting a skincare routine tailored to the needs of oily skin in the Indian context requires a thoughtful selection of products and ingredients. By incorporating the right cleansers, exfoliants, moisturizers, and treatments, you can achieve a radiant complexion that defies the challenges posed by excess oil and environmental factors. Embrace this skincare routine as a holistic approach to unlocking your skin's true potential, revealing the beauty that lies beneath the surface.
