Headcanon: God

Lovino is faithful when it comes to his religion, but has his own sense of freedom and does not let religion rule his life. Does he go to church? Yes. Does he pray? Yes. He, however, isn’t one to shove religion down other’s throats and does know, by heart, quite a lot of the bible — he is religious, in the good way, I suppose. Religion has been in Italy for so long that it’s hard not to be.

He doesn’t think it’s right to use religion as an excuse for horrible things—such as putting down homosexuality, or transgenders, or anything of the sort that is done. He doesn’t force Catholicism onto others, either. Just to make that clear. 

Of course, he, just as some in Italy might be nowadays—seeing as not all of those who are Catholic are very active Catholics—doesn’t attend church frequently nowadays, but he still stays true to his beliefs.

Headcanon: Marriage

Lovino himself is very attached to his people. He often blends in with them like he is a citizen himself, since he lives in a house just like theirs and goes to places just like them. And being attached to them like friends and family, when it comes down to funerals and weddings in his town, he tries to attend as many of them as he can. Both always bring him to tears.

I like, sometimes, you can jump in the leaves and stuff! And gather them in big piles, and -- and that's always fun.

And if it's too cold, you can get blankets and play that way!

Headcanon: War

Lovino spent nearly the entirety of World War 2 speaking out and defying occupying German officers; that’s how it felt, at least. He had already felt uneasy with the Germans, but once September of 1943 came, the entire city of Naples (of which where he had lived, and still does) had a rebellion against the occupying Germans; the armistice of Cassibile had been signed, so Allies would be coming soon.

That was the beginning of the resistance, and he had spent his time killing German officers and living under different roofs and a war name(war names in the Italian Resistance were particularly animals, and his was “Cane”, meaning “dog”) , and fake names. And he also got around lying, having picked up enough German from being used by them and shot, and etc.

Lovino, although he did dislike a lot of Northerners, knew for a fact that they were all Italian (and could, just as any other, identify individual accents), and he fought to liberate some Northern cities, but had spent most of his time in the South, until the North needed help as well. He, however, did not help Veneziano—who was a fascist.
